The article is devoted to the study of English scientific terminology and the identification of lexical, structural and semantic features of terms in Herbert Wells' novel "The Time Machine". Science fiction novels are full of terminological units which describe the latest achievements of mankind and depict future technologies. Highlighting mainly the scientific developments and technological advances, the science fiction novel under study is still relevant. The bulk of science fiction vocabulary is naturally based on terminological lexis which expresses the concepts of different scientific processes and phenomena in detail. The study and functioning of terminological systems is under the umbrella of terminology studies which deal with special vocabulary in terms of its typology, origin, form, meaning, as well as its usage, classification and formation. The analysed terms from different branches of science are an integral part of the science fiction novel "The Time Machine". They are perceived and described in their nominative meaning as specific details of scientific and technical processes and phenomena. Terms are constantly evolving and these changes are actively reflected in science fiction, increasing the role of terminological vocabulary in it. Herbert Wells' novel "The Time Machine" highlights a large group of scientific terminological vocabulary which is semantically related to the concepts of various social sciences – Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, and Astronomy. Основна частина науково-фантастичної лексики базується на термінологічній лексиці, яка докладно описує поняття різних наукових процесів та явищ. Вивченням та функціонуванням термінів та терміносистем займається термінознавство, яке досліджує спеціальну лексику з позиції її типології, походження, форми, значення, а також використання, класифікації та формування. Проаналізовані терміни з різних галузей науки є невід’ємною частиною науково-фантастичного роману "Машина часу". Вони сприймаються та описуються у своєму номінативному значенні як конкретні деталі науково-технічних процесів і явищ. Терміни постійно змінюються, і це активно відображено в науковій фантастиці. У романі Герберта Веллса "Машина часу" проаналізовано велику групу наукової термінологічної лексики, яка семантично пов’язана з поняттями різних соціальних наук – математики, фізики, хімії, біології, географії та астрономії. Термінологічна лексика, використана в науково-фантастичному романі Герберта Веллса, виражена простими (терміни-іменники, терміни-прикметники, терміни-дієслова, терміни-прислівники) та складними термінами.

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced scientists all over the world to focus their effort on searching for targeted drugs for coronavirus chemotherapy. The present review is an attempt to systematize low-molecular-weight compounds, including well-known pharmaceuticals and natural substances that have exhibited high anti-coronavirus activity, not in terms of action on their targets, but in terms of their structural type.

We have studied the structure and proton conductivity of rhombohedral La6−xMoO12−δ (x = 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 1) lanthanum molybdates prepared via mechanical activation of lanthanum and molybdenum oxides, followed by thermal annealing at 1650 °C. The La6−xMoO12−δ (x = 0.5, 0.6) materials were phase-pure and had a complex rhombohedral structure (R1). An increase in the molybdenum concentration leads to a decrease in the degree of rhombohedral distortion and proton conductivity in the La6−xMoO12−δ (x = 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 1) series. The proton conductivity at the optimal composition La6−xMoO12−δ (x = 0.5) is ~4.0 × 10−5 S/cm at 500 °C in wet air. A comparative analysis shows that, in the Ln6−xMoO12−δ (Ln = La, Nd, Sm, Gd, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb; x = 0–1) series, proton conductivity decreases with the Ln ionic radii decreasing regardless of the structural type. Because of this, the high proton conductivity is demostrated by the stable La6−xMoO12−δ (x = 0.5, 0.6) materials, with an inherently deficient oxygen sublattice, which crystallize in a large-volume, complex rhombohedral cell (R1).

Detailed knowledge of anatomy and topography of sphenoidal and maxillary sinuses may help to improve surgical approaches, better predict postoperative complications, increase safety of surgical techniques, and, consequently, avoid inflammatory reactions. This also helps to determine the cause of inflammatory changes. Aim. This study aimed to analyze structural types of sphenoidal and maxillary sinuses by examining computed tomography (CT) images of the paranasal sinuses, to determine the frequency of the interposition of the internal carotid artery, and to identify sex- and age-related peculiarities and regularities in the extent of pneumatization and contents in the sphenoidal and maxillary sinuses. Materials and Methods. CT images of 50 patients who were receiving treatment in the otolaryngology unit of the Clinic of SamSMU were analyzed. Toshiba Aquilion 32 CT scanner was used. Results. Patients were divided into three groups according to Hamberger classification of the pneumatization of the sphenoidal sinus by taking into account the topographic relation to the sella turcica using CT data: the presellar type was identified in 10% (n=5) of the cases, the sellar type in 22% (n=11), and the postsellar type in 68% (n=34). The postsellar type is the most common structural type of the sphenoidal sinus. Moreover, patients were divided into groups by the type of pneumatization of the maxillary sinuses. No correlation was found between the pneumatizations of sphenoidal and maxillary sinuses. Moderate negative correlation was observed between age and structural type of the sinuses, and moderate positive correlation was found between the contents of the sinuses. Interposition of the internal carotid arteries was identified in 3 (6%) patients. Conclusions. Our data revealed that the postsellar type is the most common structural type of sphenoidal sinuses. The extent of pneumatization of the sphenoidal and maxillary sinuses is independent of each other. Anatomical peculiarities of the sphenoidal sinus in the form of the interposition of the internal carotid arteries are not very rare and should be taken into account in planning surgical interventions.

The article is devoted to identifying the functional features of the phrase scheme “N1-6 + so + N1-6” in the texts of the journalistic and artistic styles of the Russian language. Structural, semantic and pragmatic characteristics of linguistic units of this structural type are considered. Various approaches to the description of phraseological schemes of the Russian language are commented, but the authors propose to consider the combination of structural-semantic and functional-communicative approaches as the main one for this study. It is noted that in the Russian language the studied phraseological scheme is presented in two homonymous variants, which have the meaning of the highest degree of manifestation of the feature and the meaning of consent / acceptance. Arguments for highlighting these options, which are confirmed by the difference in semantics, component composition and grammatical variability of each phraseological scheme, are given. The authors pay special attention to identifying the contextual meanings of this syntactic structure. Such types of meaning of consent and acceptance are considered, such as forced / uncontrolled, indifferent consent / acceptance, conscious / controlled, etc. The relevance of the study is due to the emergence of new facts of phraseologization of syntactic units in speech and the application of complex analysis to the phraseological units under consideration. The material was the texts of the National Corpus of the Russian language, as well as the authors’ card index.

A new non-centrosymmetric K2Ca3(CO3)4 crystal (P212121, a = 7.3905(2) A, b = 8.8156(3) A, c = 16.4817(5) A) was synthesized in a multi-anvil press at a pressure of 3 GPa and temperature of 975 °C. The compound is homeotypic to A3B2(BO3)4 (A = Ca, Sr, Ba; B = REE, Y, Bi) orthoborates with the Pnma symmetry, but is characterized by the non-centrosymmetric arrangement of (CO3) anions within the Pnma-pseudosymmetric cation sublattice. K2Ca3(CO3)4 represents a pure carbonate member of the extended M5(XO3)4 (X = B, C, B/C) structural type, which also includes A3B2(BO3)4 orthoborates as well as recently synthesized mixed orthoborate–carbonates of Ba and Sr. Crystallochemical considerations suggest that cation-substituted (REE, Cs, Sr, and Ba) derivatives of K2Ca3(CO3)4 can probably be synthesized at significantly lower pressures than 3 GPa, which is required to stabilize the compound itself.

International audience; Herein we report the original Ba10Fe7.75Zn5.25S18Si3O12 oxysulfide which crystallizes in a new structural type. Contrary to the usual oxychalcogenides, it crystallizes with a non-centrosymmetric 3D spatial network structure built from large magnetic clusters consisting of twelve (Fe2+/3+/Zn)S3O tetrahedra decorating a central Fe2+S6 octahedron and exhibiting a spin glass state

A synthetic approach to a novel type of phosphonium and mixed phosphonium-iodonium ylides containing a conformationally fixed phosphonium fragment is developed. New representatives of these families of chemical compounds based on cyclic phenoxaphosphinine were synthesized. One compound was structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Based on the 1H NMR data, one can state that phosphonium ylide exists in solution in the form of two geometric isomers even at room temperature. This is indicative of pronounced double-bond character of the bond between the ylide carbon atom and the stabilizing carbomethoxy group.

One previously undescribed polyacetylene, erythro-(5E)-1,5-didecadiene-7,911-triyne-3,4-diacetate (1), two previously undescribed flavonoids named tricin-7-O-ethylglucuronide (2) and tricin 4′-O-(erythro-β -guaiacylglyceryl) ether 5-O-β-glucopyranoside (3), together with four known polyacetylenes (4-7) and fourteen known flavonoids (8-21) were isolated from alcoholic extracts of the stems and leaves of Pyrethrum tatsienense (SLPT). Their structures were elucidated by extensive analysis of NMR and mass spectroscopic data as well as chemical reactions. Among all isolates, polyacetylenes were found as a new structural type from P. tatsienense for the first time. Tricin and its derivatives were common compositions between SLPT and the flowers of P. tatsienense (FPT). According to previous reports, tricin and its derivatives are responsible for the anti-inflammatory activity of FPT. These findings suggested that SLPT might be worthy of further development and research as medicinal parts.

The methodology classifying structural types of concrete buildings in the existing seismic fragility functions is too simple to estimate the fragility of existing residential buildings and neighborhood living facilities, especially those below five stories. Their structural types are dependent on information contained in the building register such as main use, total floor area, story, permission date, and first story floor area of the individual building. All of this information is not considered for classifying types in the existing functions; therefore, the goal of this study was to suggest a methodology that classifies structural types of concrete buildings by utilizing such information. The results of this study showed that the suggested methodology can classify structural types better than the existing methodology. Nevertheless, there is still a need to simplify the methodology because fragility estimation demands quickness rather than accuracy.

Awgni is spoken by more than one million people in a widespread area in northwest Ethiopia. The objective of this study was to apply Labeling Algorithm {XP, YP} to examine Syntactic Object representations found in Awgni sentences contained by their structure. A descriptive design and purposive sampling technique were used to look at research objective. Tools used during collecting data were interview and focused group discussion. The finding showed that simple sentence structures of Awgni have no more than one Verbal head. On the other hand, compound, complex and compound complex sentence may perhaps have two and more verbal heads in their hierarchical structures. Sentences in terms of their outward appearances, structure, syntactic entity expressions they enclose were dissimilar. Thus, every sentence structure has phrasal categories that include Determiner Phrase (DP), Prepositional phrase (PP), Noun Phrase (NP), Adverb Phrase (ADVP), Verb Phrase (VP) and Adjective Phrase (AP). As a final point, it is suggested that a further research on how Labeling Algorithm {XP, H} and {X, Y} applies to examine Syntactic Object representations found within simple, compound, complex and compound complex sentences of Awgni. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa struktur kalimat sederhana Awgni tidak lebih dari satu kepala Verbal. Di sisi lain, kalimat majemuk, kompleks, dan majemuk mungkin memiliki dua atau lebih kepala verbal. Kalimat dalam hal penampilan luar, struktur, ekspresi entitas sintaksis yang mereka lampirkan tidak sama. Dengan demikian, setiap struktur kalimat memiliki kategori frasa yang meliputi Determiner Phrase (DP), Prepositional phrase (PP), Noun Phrase (NP), Adverb Phrase (ADVP), Verb Phrase (VP) dan Adjective Phrase (AP). Sebagai poin akhir, direkomendasikan untuk penelitian lebih lanjut tentang bagaimana Labeling Algorithm {XP, H} dan {X, Y} berlaku untuk memeriksa Objek Sintaksis yang ditemukan dalam kalimat sederhana, majemuk, kompleks dan kompleks majemuk dari Awgni. هدف البحث الحالي إلى تنمية مهارات نسق التعلم الذاتي لدى طلاب المرحلة الثانوية وتم التوصل إلى قائمة بمهارات نسق التعلم الذاتي اللازمة لهؤلاء الطلاب، کما هدف البحث إلى التحقق من أثر نمطا التقويم البنائي المقترحة من خلال تطبيقها على عينة البحث ومکونة من (60) طالبا من طلاب ادارة المستقبل التعليمية بمدينة 15 مايو. وقد اتبع البحث المنهج الوصفي التحليلي :لرصد الدراسات والأدبيات المتصلة بالإطار النظري وتحليلها للوصول إلى قائمة بمهارات التعبير الکتابي. کما اعتمد البحث على المنهج التجريبي لقياس أثرنمطا التقويم البنائي في بيئة تعلم الکترونية في تنمية مهارات نسق التعلم الذاتي لدى طلاب المرحلة الثانوية. وقد أسفرت نتائج البحث عن وجود فروق دالة إحصائيا لصالح الاختبار البعدي لنمط التقويم البنائي من قبل المتعلم مجهول الهوية . ومن ثم أوصت الباحثة بالأخذ بهذا النمط البنائي للتقويم (متعلم مجهول الهوية)لتنمية نسق التعلم الذاتي لطلاب المرحلة الثانوية. The aim of the current research is to develop the self-regulated learning skills of high school students and a list of the self-regulated learning skills needed for these students was reached. The research also aimed to verify the impact of the proposed formative evaluation patterns by applying them to the research sample consisting of (60) students Future Educational Administration in May 15th city. The research followed the descriptive and analytical approach: to monitor studies and literature related to the theoretical framework and analyze them to reach to a list of writing comprehension skills. The research also relied on the experimental approach to measure the effect of the two constructive evaluation types in an electronic learning environment on developing the skills of the self-regulated learning among secondary school students. The results of the research resulted that there are statistically significant differences in favor of the post test of the structural evaluation type by the anonymous learner. Then the researcher recommended adopting this structural type of evaluation (anonymous learner) to develop the self-regulated learning for high school students.

—Crystalline Pb0.5 +xMgxZr2 –x(PO4)3 (x = 0, 0.5) phosphates of NaZr2(PO4)3 (NZP) structural type were synthesized. The heat capacity of Pb0.5Zr2(PO4)3 was measured by adiabatic vacuum and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) within the temperature range 8–660 K. The studied phosphates were found to experience a reversible phase transition in the region 256–426 K. According to the results of Rietveld structural study, this transition occurred due to an increase in disorder of lead cation positions in cavities of the NZP structure. The measurements of PbMg0.5Zr1.5(PO4)3 heat capacity in the temperature range 195–660 K showed that it experienced a similar phase transition at 255–315 K. Based on the measured experimental data, the thermodynamic functions of Pb0.5Zr2(PO4)3, such as $$C_{p}^{0}(T),$$ [H0(T) – H0(0)], S0(T), and [G0(T) – H0(0)] were calculated for the temperature range 0–660 K. The standard formation enthalpy of Pb0.5Zr2(PO4)3 was determined at 298.15 K.

The catalytic activity of micro- and micro–meso–macroporous zeolites of the FAU structural type and an ASM mesoporous aluminosilicate in the reaction of aniline with C3–C5 aldehydes has been studied. It has been established that under the studied conditions, (2S, 3S, 4R)-2,3-dialkyl-N-phenyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-4-quinolinamines are the main products formed over the tested catalysts with the selectivity of up to 71%.

High-entropy alloys (HEAs) are at the focus of current research for their diverse properties, including superconductivity and structural polymorphism. However, the polymorphic transition has been observed only in nonsuperconducting HEAs and mostly under high pressure. Here we report the discovery of superconductivity and temperature-driven polymorphism in the (V$_{0.5}$Nb$_{0.5}$)$_{3-x}$Mo$_{x}$Al$_{0.5}$Ga$_{0.5}$ (0.2 $\leq$ $x$ $\leq$ 1.4) HEAs. It is found that the as-cast HEA is of a single body-centered cubic (bcc) structure for $x$ = 0.2 and a mixture of the bcc and A15 structures for higher $x$ values. Upon annealing, the bcc structure undergoes a polymorphic transformation to the A15 one and all HEAs exhibits bulk superconductivity. For $x$ = 0.2, whereas the bcc polymorph is not superconducting down to 1.8 K, the A15 polymorph has a superconducting transition temperature $T_{\rm c}$ of 10.2 K and an estimated zero-temperature upper critical field $B_{\rm c2}$(0) of 20.1 T, both of which are the highest among HEA superconductors. With increasing Mo content $x$, both $T_{\rm c}$ and $B_{\rm c2}$(0) of the A15-type HEAs decrease, yet the large ratio of $B_{\rm c2}$(0)/$T_{\rm c}$ signifies a disorder-induced enhancement of the upper critical field over a wide $x$ range. The decrease in $T_{\rm c}$ is attributed to the decrease in both the electronic specific-heat coefficient and electron-phonon coupling strength. Furthermore, the valence electron count dependence of $T_{\rm c}$, which is different from both the binary A15 and other structurally different HEA superconductors, suggests that $T_{\rm c}$ may be increased further by reducing the number of valence electrons. La siguiente investigación se enmarca dentro de los estudios de memorias locales, específicamente se centra en las construcciones locales de memorias de niños y niñas en una población emblemática de Santiago, la población Lo Hermida. Para esto, se realizaron cinco sesiones de trabajo, en donde los niños y las niñas produjeron de manera participativa y creativa diversas técnicas a través de las cuales contaron historias de su población. Para comprender lo anterior, se utilizó el análisis narrativo de tipo estructural y se dio cuenta de cómo los niños y niñas utilizan las huellas en el territorio, los personajes y lugares del espacio público de su población que remiten al pasado de la misma. Así como también de recursos externos proporcionados por los medios de comunicación para construir distintos pasados capaces de explicar el presente de su cotidiano y de alguna manera articular memorias que buscan la unidad y la convivencia.

A new acetylenic sesquiterpenoid, stereyne A (1), and its acetonide derivative, stereyne B (2), were isolated from cultures of the basidiomycete Stereum cf. hirsutum BCC 26597. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis and a chemical correlation. Their absolute configurations were determined by application of the modified Mosher���s method. They represent new structural type of sesquiterpenoids from Stereum.

Resumen La aplicación del Reglamento Colombiano de Construcción Sismo Resistente implica que se defina la capacidad de disipación de energía (CDE) de la estructura en función de la tipología y la amenaza sísmica del sitio. En esta investigación se determinaron los efectos de elegir una CDE superior a la mínima permitida, en regiones de sismicidad intermedia y baja, sobre las cantidades de materiales y el comportamiento sísmico de edificaciones aporticadas de concreto reforzado. Se diseñaron 20 edificaciones regulares, con variación en altura y longitud de vanos, modificando los parámetros de diseño acorde a la CDE seleccionada. Se seleccionó un subconjunto de estos edificios para evaluar el daño sísmico mediante análisis pushover. Los resultados mostraron que para ambas zonas sísmicas se presenta un menor consumo de acero cuando se diseña con una CDE moderada y que la selección de una CDE mayor a la mínima resultaría en mayores niveles de daño sísmico. Abstract The use of the Colombian seismic design and construction code requires the selection of an energy dissipation capacity (EDC) for the building that depends on the structural type and the seismic hazard at the site. This work investigates the effects on the materials quantities and the seismic behavior of reinforced concrete buildings due to the selection of an EDC superior to the minimum required for low and intermediate seismic regions. Twenty regular buildings with variations in bay lengths and height were designed according to the parameters and requirements for each EDC. Pushover analyses were performed to assess the potential seismic damage in a subset of those buildings. The results showed that the lowest amount of reinforcement in both seismic regions is obtained by selecting a moderate CDE, and that higher levels of seismic damage could occur when a CDE superior to the minimum is selected.

The first investigation of phytochemistry on the seed kernels of Caesalpinia sinensis led to the isolation and characterization of six new compounds including three tricyclic-type cassane diterpenoids (1‐–3) and three norcassane-type diterpenoids (4–6), together with three know compounds (7–9). Compounds 1–9 represented the first discovery of cassane-type diterpenoids from C. sinensis. Their structures were elucidated by a combination of spectroscopic analysis, single-crystal X-ray diffraction experiment and ECD calculation. The characters for compounds 4 and 5 possessing the 15,16-degradative cassane skeleton were observed, which was extremely rare structural type in the genus Caesalpinia. The anti-inflammatory activities of all isolates were evaluated via examining their inhibitory effects against NO production in LPS-simulated RAW 264.7 cells. The results demonstrated that compound 1 exhibited the most significantly inhibitory efficacy with inhibition rate 67.3% at 10 μM. The iNOS enzyme activity assay further revealed that compound 1 showed potent NO inhibitory effect by reducing the enzymatic activity of iNOS.

3d-Metal trifluoroacetate complex-catalyzed ring opening polymerization of octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane affords polydimethylsiloxanes whose molecular weight can be controlled by the nature of 3d metal complexes, in particular, by their structural type, and by the polymerization conditions. The best results were achieved using tetranuclear zinc oxotrifluoroacetate as the catalyst at a temperature of 75 °C and a reaction time of 35 h.
