Tissue repair and regeneration, such as bone and nerve restoration, face significant challenges due to strict regulations within the immune microenvironment, stem cell differentiation, and key cell behaviors. The development of 3D scaffolds is identified as a promising approach to address these issues via the efficiently structural regulations on cell fates and behaviors. In particular, 3D‐printed polymer scaffolds with diverse micro‐/nanostructures offer a great potential for mimicking the structures of tissue. Consequently, they are foreseen as promissing pathways for regulating cell fates, including cell phenotype, differentiation of stem cells, as well as the migration and the proliferation of key cells, thereby facilitating tissue repairs and regenerations. Herein, the roles of structural functions of 3D‐printed polymer scaffolds in regulating the fates and behaviors of numerous cells related to tissue repair and regeneration, along with their specific influences are highlighted. Additionally, the challenges and outlooks associated with 3D‐printed polymer scaffolds with various structures for modulating cell fates are also discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A measurement complex is installed on the ground surface at «Karymshina» complex geophysical observation site of IKIR FEB RAS (Kamchatka) to record seismoacoustic emission signals. A three-component piezoceramic seismic receiver, which records oscillatory acceleration in the frequency range from 0.2 to 400 Hz, is used as the signal sensor. A series of seismoacoustic responses on regional earthquakes of 2017-2018 with the energy class Ks > 11:0 has been considered. Self-similarity of their structures has been established in a limited interval of time scales by statistical methods. That, in its turn, indicates the presence of long-range correlations in the system under consideration and allows one to estimate correlation scales.

A technique for deriving and interpreting fractal geophysical processes with power-law spectra of a different nature is described. Examples include the energy spectra of atmospheric processes and their role in the mixing of impurities, the frequency spectra of sea wind waves, and the spatial spectra of the surface relief of celestial bodies in the solar system. A.N. Kolmogorov's works in the early 1930s, which were subsequently developed by his followers A.M. Obukhov, A.S. Monin, A.M. Yaglom, and others, are the most important for this. Triangular systems with nonadditively separable unobserved heterogeneity provide a theoretically appealing framework for the modeling of complex structural relationships. However, they are not commonly used in practice due to the need for exogenous variables with large support for identification, the curse of dimensionality in estimation, and the lack of inferential tools. This paper introduces two classes of semiparametric nonseparable triangular models that address these limitations. They are based on distribution and quantile regression modeling of the reduced form conditional distributions of the endogenous variables. We show that average, distribution, and quantile structural functions are identified in these systems through a control function approach that does not require a large support condition. We propose a computationally attractive three‐stage procedure to estimate the structural functions where the first two stages consist of quantile or distribution regressions. We provide asymptotic theory and uniform inference methods for each stage. In particular, we derive functional central limit theorems and bootstrap functional central limit theorems for the distribution regression estimators of the structural functions. These results establish the validity of the bootstrap for three‐stage estimators of structural functions, and lead to simple inference algorithms. We illustrate the implementation and applicability of all our methods with numerical simulations and an empirical application to demand analysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Using the uniform approach, linear differential equations of elliptic, hyperbolic and parabolic types with variable coefficients depending on coordinates and time are considered. It is shown that the solution of the initial equation can be expressed by means of an integral formula through the solution of the accompanying equation of the same type, but with constant coefficients. It is considered that the solution of the accompanying equation is known. From the integral formula, assuming smoothness of the accompanying solution, an equivalent representation of the solution of the initial equation is obtained in the form of series in all possible derivatives of the solution of the accompanying equation. Focusing on the disciplinary function of humor as an understudied subject in humor studies, this article addresses Qazvini jokes - the contemporary Persian joke cycle targeting men from the Iranian city of Qazvin - as mainstream gender humor that uses ridicule as a means of supporting heteronormativity and fueling homophobia. Adopting an historical-analytical approach and considering examples of and references to Qazvini jokes, I argue that the joke series likely originated as a disciplinary tool to buttress the emerging heteronormative gender order of early modern Iranian society. Contextualized instances of these jokes not only illustrate that this punitive function has endured to the present but also indicate their ongoing homophobic role. This argument problematizes the claim made in humor studies that jokes have no social consequences. Qazvini jokes may be inconsequential in the limited sense that they might not affect attitudes toward their direct targets - that is, individual men of Qazvin - yet their heteronormalizing and homophobic functions clearly speak to larger social structures within Iranian society and culture. This form of ethnic humor both adheres to and informs Iran's prevailing gender and sexuality norms; as such, in this broader sense, the jokes may indeed have far-reaching consequences. What is Roman comedy? Which ancient theatre forms can be included under this term? How to classify the characters of palliatae, togatae, atellanae and mimi, having mostly complete texts of Plautus's and Terence's palliatae available on the one hand, and palliatae, togatae, atellanae and mimi preserved only fragmentally on the other? This study presents a method of classifying a repertoire of characters in Roman comedy which I used in my dissertation. Complete texts were analyzed in terms of contrasts and correspondences, allowing me to determine the correspondences and similarities not only among dramatic characters or types separately in Plautus's and separately in Terence's comedies, but also point out certain correspondences and similarities in the entire historical corpus of texts mapping a specific period or genre. Therefore, I determined structural functions of individual types and their roles in the corpus of texts, which, at the same time, provided me with a summary of typical traits of various types of characters, manifested in antagonism or cooperation with other types of characters. I compared this set of "words-signs" with words describing the characters from fragments, using clear arrangement into contingency tables. Due to this comparison and other partial findings enabled by this method and tools used, it was possible to describe, at least partially, not only a repertoire of characters of individual comic forms, but also compare them with each other and determine how the "dramatis personae" of Roman comedy changed diachronically. While orchestration treatises such as Egon Wellesz's Die neue Instrumentation (1928) celebrated the increasing emancipation of diverse individual instrumental timbres, some of Schoenberg's remarkably conservative twentieth-century prescriptions for orchestration prefer equalized instrumental sonorities. Instead of highlighting individual wind colors, his orchestrations of Bach's “St. Anne” Fugue and Brahms's G-Minor Piano Quartet equalize string and wind timbres through doubling to create timbral “transparency.” Describing his orchestration as “Brahmsian but up to date,” Schoenberg uses the subtle differences between various string-wind doublings to realize structural functions of harmony with a structurally functional orchestration. The CABARET method was generalized to two-dimensional incompressible fluids in terms of velocity and pressure. The resulting algorithm was verified by computing the transport and interaction of various vortex structures: a stationary and a moving solitary vortex, Taylor-Green vortices, and vortices formed by the instability of double shear layers. Much attention was also given to the modeling of homogeneous isotropic turbulence and to the analysis of its spectral properties. It was shown that, regardless of the mesh size, the slope of the energy spectra up to the highest-frequency harmonics is equal −3, which agrees with Batchelor's enstrophy cascade theory. In the present work, the Cabaret method is generalized to the case of two-dimensional incompressible fluid in terms of the stream function-vorticity variables. Using the example of the solitary vortex problem, the high quality of the obtained algorithm in terms of its dissipative and dispersion properties is demonstrated. In the problem about decaying homogeneous isotropic turbulence, the slopes of the energy spectra for all grids (16 × 16, 32 × 32, 64 × 64, 128 × 128) are (−3) up to the highest harmonics, which coincides with Batchelor's theory. Nature of the kinematic shear viscosity of water ν is discussed in the work. Dependences of ν on temperature t, reduced volume $$ \tilde \upsilon $$, and the average number of hydrogen bonds per one molecule nH ( t = T/ Tc, $$ \tilde \upsilon $$=υ/υc, Tc and υc are critical values of temperature and reduced volume) are analyzed in detail on a liquid-vapor coexistence curve. It is shown that at T < TH ( TH ≈ 310 K is the characteristic temperature of water) the formation of the kinematic shear viscosity is induced by activation. At T > TH, the shear viscosity of water is the sum of two contributions. One of them is of the same nature as in simple liquids, and another is caused by effects of hydrogen bonds. The temperature dependence of ν in this temperature region has nothing in common with exponential formulas of activation theory. The explicit form of the functional dependence of the kinematic shear viscosity on t, $$ \tilde \upsilon $$, and nH is found and substantiated. It is shown that the value and temperature dependence of nH resulting in the experimental values of the kinematic shear viscosity of water agree well with the values corresponding to density and evaporation heat data. Tracing the compositional process of two musically untrained college students, this close case study demonstrates their ability to produce archetypal tonal melodies, even when working initially within the constraints of tonally and metrically ambiguous melodic materials. The two students were representative of a sample of about 75 who participated in a new approach to music fundamentals supported by a novel, interactive computer music environment. Students’ logs, including their composition sketches, decision-making, analysis of progressive modifications and completed compositions, serve as evidence and data for analysis. It is argued that, when students work at their own pace with immediate sound feedback, can modify given materials and have access to multiple representations at differing levels of detail, they are able to make explicit their intuitive criteria for compositional decision-making, as well as proposing an intuitive model of a ‘sensible tune’.
