This work has as its main goal to reveal the influence of the educational complex of the region on the processes of modernization and innovative development of the territory. The perspective of this study is based on the analysis of the dynamics of the socio-cultural potential of the education system in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic as an outsider region in terms of economic development. The methodology of the research is based on the application of the anthroposocietal approach as a modification of the sociocultural direction. In the process of studying the socio-cultural potential of the education system, it was determined that there is no relationship between the level of education of the population of the region and the indicators of the innovative development of the territory. The dominance of traditional attitudes in the worldview orientations of the population and the high level of non-legal practices leads to a situation of securing a formal-normative status for a high level of education of an individual. The results of the study make it possible to develop a set of measures to improve regional development programs using the potential of the education system as a factor that largely determines the dynamics of the modernization process.

This article suggests an integration of Barbara Rogoff's sociocultural development theories into Christian faith transmission. Drawing from Confessional Anglican Churches in Sydney, it examines prevailing models of children's ministry influenced by Western schooling principles. Highlighting Rogoff's intent community participation and cultural learning theories, it argues for their applicability in fostering meaningful children's ministry practices among children and the alignment with Confessional Anglican theology. It concludes with suggestions for application in children's ministry practice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article discusses measures taken at the government level to develop Russian regions and reduce socio-economic disparities between them. As one of the directions of political and managerial practices to mitigate the heterogeneity of the development of Russian regions, the sphere of higher education is cited as the main branch of personnel reproduction of the economy. Transformations in higher education, often used as tools of “shock therapy” to revive the education system itself, are simultaneously projected on the economy, being a kind of impulse for positive changes in the regions. The program “supporting universities”is an example of solving the problems of uneven socio-economic development of regions, the outflow of population from them to megacities and large cities, and the reduction of human and social potential. The analysis of the program for creating reference universities in 2015–2017 in the regions of Russia, its goals, objectives and main stages of implementation revealed a number of shortcomings of the project.

In this qualitative study, 26 university students reflected on their experiences in domestic or international study away programs. Utilizing a sociocultural developmental framework, we examined perceived changes in identity in relation to salient aspects of the sociocultural context and social interactions during and after study away. Students reported developing an enhanced understanding of who they really are. Their experiences navigating new environments served as a catalyst for personal growth, and, for some, participating in study away ignited new professional pathways and plans. Encountering different perspectives on policies and issues facing the United States (US) afforded opportunities to co-construct new understandings of national identities. Reentry posed particular challenges in communicating with family and friends, and some found it hard to communicate unique personal experiences within an institutional context in which the majority of students study away. The process of reflecting on questions related to identity and reentry in the focus groups was reportedly a unique and valuable intervention. The findings support the need for enhanced opportunities for guided reflection experiences before, during, and after study away.

DEAFNESS in children ,COCHLEAR implants ,CHILD development ,SIGN language ,COGNITION ,CHILDREN with disabilities ,LANGUAGE acquisition ,SOCIAL skills - Abstract
This review addresses the question of how early access to sign language influences the development of deaf children with cochlear implants (CIs) by examining the literature surrounding the topic across the domains of spoken/written language development, cognitive development, and sociocultural development. Although research in the realm of language development is mixed, there appear to be few potential detriments to sign language access that may not be mediated by other aspects, such as age of implantation. Early sign language access, furthermore, shows potential to prevent developmental delays in general as well as specific cognitive functioning, and the current article speculates that claiming a Deaf identity (to which sign language is vital) may act as a protective factor against the stress of stigma surrounding hearing loss. Based on the relative insufficiency of current research to offer undisputable long-term concerns regarding the impact of sign language on development, as well as the existing evidence that suggests that early access to sign language may act as a protective factor against delays in multiple developmental domains, this review concludes that the potential benefits of allowing deaf children with CIs early and comprehensive access to sign language outweigh any possible risks. The article is aimed at determining the social factors of societal development that ensure the process of socialization of economy. The importance of allocating the factors of social development, modernizing society, and creating a new model of economic and social relations has been proven. It has been noted that the crisis of existing ideologies hinders the process of institutional transformation in society and facilitates the political revitalization of traditional institutions of society. Strengthening of technocratization of ideologies and the political role of those groups that favor the restoration of traditional forms of morality and public life has been specified. The article points out to the importance of socialization of a political elite capable of formulating a philosophy of developing and establishing an effective institutional mechanism for the modernization of society. It has been noted that sociocultural changes are becoming a form of integration among the various social groups in society in order to create new socio-economic structures and innovations, and the sociocultural unity of society is becoming a more important factor of societal development than integration based on economic, social or political interests. Solutions to the problem of the social disintegration of society and its consolidation have been proposed.

In this article, we expand on aspects of autobiographical memory initially laid out in our earlier exposition of the sociocultural developmental model. We present a developmental account of the integration of an extended subjective perspective within an extended narrative framework both of which are mediated through language and shared cultural narratives that culminate in autobiographical consciousness. Autobiographical consciousness goes beyond simple memories of past events to create a sense of extended self through time that has experienced and reflexively evaluated events. We argue from philosophical, evolutionary, and developmental psychological perspectives that narratives are a critical form of human consciousness, and that this form is learned through everyday social interactions that are linguistically mediated. Language has "double-duality" in that it is both outward facing, allowing more explicit, organized and differentiated communication to and with others, and language is also inward facing, in that language provides tools for organizing and differentiating internal consciousness. Although consciousness itself is multifaceted, we argue that language is the mechanism without which this particular form of human autobiographical consciousness would not develop. Purpose The USA’s higher education leaders and professional organizations have called for increased professional development programming at graduate colleges to better prepare US graduate students for their future careers. This study aims to investigate the demographic characteristics of graduate students participating in co-curricular professional development (PD) and sociocultural development (SD) programming at a graduate college at a large, selective and research-intensive public university in the Midwestern USA. Design/methodology/approach Using institutional data from six semesters, the authors examined the characteristics of students that attended the graduate college’s programs at one university. The authors analyzed which students were most likely to attend PD and SD programs using multinomial logistic regression models. Findings Female students, students from US historically marginalized racial groups, and US Pell Grant recipients (low-income students) were found to have a higher likelihood of attending both PD and SD programs at the centralized graduate college. Practical implications The findings will be of interest to graduate deans and educators who support graduate students. Further evaluative research on the usefulness of such programs at other institutions would help graduate colleges better understand the role they play in meeting graduate students’ needs. Originality/value The findings contribute to the understanding of the important role of the US graduate college in the development of graduate students. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, it is the first study to evaluate the backgrounds of graduate students who pursue co-curricular PD and SD opportunities.

Alfama, a neighborhood whose history dates to Lisbon’s origins, held simultaneously the power and burden of representing the “old Lisbon.” It is recognized as a territory that was never part of the efforts to modernize the city but also through its inherent values. The latter derive exactly from the nostalgic images it projects and through which the city’s history is kept alive. As part of a city’s ecosystem and embroiling global phenomena, the neighborhood faces inevitable changes, affecting both the closely intertwined urban fabric and socio-cultural aspects to shape a landscape of tangible and intangible heritage. Based on a multidisciplinary and humanistic approach, the article portrays the urban change in the neighborhood through a spatial and ethnographic lens, along different scales and angles, contributing with a critical dimension to understanding urban development processes. We examine how Alfama has been dealing with political intentions steered by economic prosperity and global influences. Thus, we look at policies fostering urban regeneration and tourism development and describe impacts on the territory and responses where traces of the community’s resilience emerge. We further discuss how increased tourism led to a “touristification” scenario and implied local responses. Namely, the community has been activating specific mechanisms and leveraging certain socio-spatial features to cope with the process of change. Some examples highlight how the community is adapting practices of space and social interactions to take advantage of the new possibilities brought up by tourism, while defending its core socio-spatial networks, in a continuous process of heritage creation info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

This paper approaches the relevance of the pedagogic practice within the arts and cultural perspective, which benefits the border’s context and the sociocultural development in the Tijuana-San Diego region. The results of these interactions are palpable in the project Blurring Borders, a project that achieved the cognitive development of the students involved through a pragmatic pedagogy in which every day spaces were reviewed and rethought, creating in the process a bond between students of the undergraduate programs in Fine art of the San Diego State University (SDSU) in California, USA and the Autonomous University of Baja California (Universidad Autónoma de Baja California UABC) in Tijuana, Mexico. The investigation that supports this project had the objective of understanding the bonds between education, culture, and art as well as their influence on the process of sociocultural transformation in these border cities.

Introduction: Traditional games are constituted as playful expressions that are part of the cultural heritage of the regions and allow the identification of customs and traditions. These recreational practices, also strengthen cultural identity, favor social skills and stimulate learning processes in educational contexts, thanks to their pedagogical value. Objective: Establish the contribution of the traditional games of the local environment, to the sociocultural development of the students of the Ignacio Gil Sanabria Siachoque Technical Educational Institution - Eighth grade pilot study. Methodology: The study corresponds to a qualitative approach, framed within a hermeneutical paradigm, which validates the application of an action research model, and some instruments of social cartography. In the first phase, the characterization of the traditional games was carried out, using the semi-structured interview and the cartography of the traditional games. Then the intervention proposal was built, where "memory workshops" were developed, which allow the social construction of knowledge, favoring the exchange and transfer of knowledge around traditional games. Results: Through the exchange of knowledge, a product of social interaction, it is possible to expand the knowledge and perceptions of students towards traditional games, turning them into a resource that stimulates the sociocultural development of the school population. Conclusion: Social interaction represents a fundamental factor not only for the construction of knowledge in this case of the traditional game, but also to guarantee the survival of these practices, which are constituted as an element of the cultural heritage and ludic heritage of the region., Introducción: Los juegos tradicionales, se constituyen como expresiones lúdicas que hacen parte del acervo cultural de las regiones y permiten identificar costumbres y tradiciones. Curricular contextualization is essential in educational practice, so institutions must promote its application in classrooms, even more so in that of young people and adults, who are subjects with rich social and cultural knowledge. Think that contextualization is the element that should enable the consolidation of this sociocultural reality of our youth and adults. This work aims to identify the degree of contextualization of the high school curriculum of the Campaña Todos ABC de la Unidad Educativa Limón and the socio-cultural development of the Limón Indanza canton, in the 2020-2021. For this research was developed from a qualitative interpretive approach, which seeks to understand the process of construction of knowledge of subjects that are part of a specific reality from the perspective of cultural actors, teachers and high school students, expressed mainly in their traditions; that hereditary wisdom that is alive and that needs to be valued by the subjects that are part of this worldview and that needs to be channeled from the different areas of the sociocultural context of the canton. All this you have told us allowed us to carry out a critical analysis, concluding that the curricular contextualization is partial, since there is no evidence within the plans an adaptation in accordance with the sociocultural, although the possibility that the teacher constructs the teaching-learning process from the prior knowledge of the students of this educational offer. In the past 40 years, alternative cultural institutions have been established in many Western welfare states to respond locally to the social and urban crises that have arisen in the post-war era. Community centres and workshops for local history and youth offer new opportunities for cultural and social participation and complement the offerings at more traditional cultural infrastructures such as art museums, theatres, and opera houses. Initially borne of grassroots movements that struggled for political recognition and necessary resources in protracted disputes with municipal authorities, these facilities now play important roles in the cultural landscape of many cities. In response to calls for a “democratisation of culture” and social development programmes targeting urban geographical inequalities, these institutions provide accessible and persistent spaces for socialisation, cultural empowerment, and negotiating community concerns. These facilities are often located on brownfields and are material manifestations of socioeconomic change and urban regeneration. Using the relocation of an established socio-cultural centre to a new neighbourhood in the city of Heidelberg, Germany, as an example, we seek to understand the evolving ways political and social relations are formed, negotiated, and challenged through cultural infrastructures. By analysing newspaper coverage, policy documents, and interviews with stakeholders from urban planning, city administration, community work, and resident populations, we map and evaluate shifting planning discourses and forms of embeddedness in the processes of de- and re-localisation. We end by reflecting on more open and nuanced understandings of cultural infrastructures that could generate multiple and diverse outcomes interacting and possibly outbalancing each other.

Pojavom Poleta, revolucionarnog novinskog oblika koji testira tadašnji režim i uvodi elemente demokracije u svoje izražavanje, novinska fotografija u Hrvatskoj osamdesetih godina, poprima nove oblike. Također, ovo istraživanje ukazuje na neminovne tehnološke razvitke u vidu novinske fotografije, koje osim na brzinu i izravnost pristupa, utječu i na etičke postulate struke., Sociocultural and technological changes in the last forty years have led to crucial changes in many sociological areas, including photojournalism. With the emergence of Polet, a revolutionary new journal format which tests the ongoing regime and brings elements of democracy in it's expression, Croatian 1980's photojournalism achieves new forms. Even though the overarching censorship dictated the journalistic expression, restricting people's right to public speech, Polet gave a new chance to minority and marginalized groups. Considering these circumstances, this research examines photojournalism from the 1980's to today, aiming to explore it's role through qualitative methods like the interview. In this research, three eminent Croatian newspaper photographers who also represent three different generations (young, middle and mature) help explain what the situation is today compared to the period three to four decades ago. The research concludes that certain socio-cultural aspects of the development of newspaper photography in society are generationally perceived and are inevitably conditioned by the socio-cultural context of its interpreters. This research also points to inescapable technological advancements influencing the speed, aproachability and ethical foundations of photojournalism.

This article discusses the theme of intergenerational impact as it emerged during a study tour of adult learner communities in North America, carried out during March and April of 2011. Data was collected via observation, interviews and questionnaires, to provide a degree of international perspective to a broader ethnographic project investigating sociocultural development through ensemble music programmes in identifiable, marginalized, communities in Australia. The five-week tour involved observation of 31 ensembles, comprising several hundred learners and ensemble directors, spread across nine communities in Ontario, New York State, Washington State, Arizona and California. The study tour was facilitated by a New Horizons International Music Association (NHIMA) fellowship, and the participating communities were all members or affiliates of the NHIMA. Utilizing the theoretical framework of Lee Higgins' community as an act of hospitality, the article focuses on five emergent examples of social development with effects crossing generational boundaries, with findings indicating a growing trend in mentor-based social change within communities embracing group adult music learner programmes. The paper deals with the problem of unpopularity of small towns and rural areas. Our society has to accept a new image of non-urbanized areas. By the well known report, named as strategic study "Towards a New Urban Rural Partnership in Europe", directed by Flavio Boscacci, we have to realize, that "rural is no longer synonymous with the agricultural economy, but an area with a diversified economy, including industrial and services activities. These new ac-tivities have now overtaken agriculture in terms of their capacity to generate revenue and work opportunities. This process has facilitated the improvement of infrastructure, providing new transport routes and better accessibility, as well as new forms of communication (e.g. the information technologies)." The second part of the paper is designed for the pre-sentation of Kražiai people's approach to the development of the current situation ofKraziai and its perspectives. The main purpose of our research is to find out how to improve the strategy of this small town, well known in the past as the important centre of culture and science. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this study, we explore language -- specifically the use of Spanish, in a sixth-grade science classroom, where the district recognises English as the official language of instruction. The question guiding our analysis is: How is Spanish positioned in Ms. Cook's science class? Transcribed interaction from twelve weeks of videotaping is coded and analysed to highlight when and how Spanish is used during everyday classroom activities. Most of the formal, public talk during Ms. Cook's science class was in English. Ms. Cook consistently spoke English in discussions, modeling English "science talk". However, during small group work, a significant portion of science class, language flowed between English and Spanish. As students tried to interpret and make sense of science concepts, students chose the language that was most useful to them. In this article, we will share transcript excerpts that illustrate interaction where Spanish and English are both positioned as legitimate tools for students to use when exploring science concepts. The excerpts also show how Spanish was respected as Ms. Cook legitimised Spanish, without translating it or marking it as unacceptable. In this classroom, Spanish works as a significant resource, helping students achieve success in science class. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The relevance of the study of the problems of the interaction of ideology and culture is due to the entry of humankind into a new era of understanding its own purpose, as evidenced by the planetary anthropogenic catastrophe caused, according to some experts, by the pandemic of the artificial coronavirus, when the fruits of scientific research returned like a boomerang for earthlings. This sociocultural drama has exposed all the flaws of the humanitarian impasse, exacerbated the old and highlighted the new external and internal contradictions at the state and civilizational levels. The globalist world order has led to an imbalance in international relations, and the technosphere is in conflict with the original idea of homo sapiens. In such a fatal situation, the human-creative function of culture comes to the fore. In the domestic mentality, this function acquires the meanings of the Russian idea that is salvific for humanity and is understood as the ideology of the development of statehood and civilization in the historical and cultural context. The aim of this article is an integral analysis of the role and influence of ideology and culture on the processes in the development of society, state and civilization, the determinant of which is the human-making mission of all interacting subjects. The author decodes the cultural and ideological centricity of the aim with meaning-making provisions and tasks facing the fundamental subjects, whose strategic functions are changing taking into account the turbulence of world sociopolitical and economic processes, new challenges and threats facing Russia. In this regard, according to the author, with all the achievements of the scientific and technical process and the technical equipment of a certain society, the main subject that sets the artificial techno-force in motion is homo sapiens, their cultural consistency and civic consciousness. They also remain the main active communicator in the external relations of the changing and transforming world community. Therefore, conspiracy theories about the simulacrum of the posthuman subject and the creation of the image of the posthumanself outside society contradict the cultural nature of humans. The imbalance in international relations, the world economic, sociopolitical and sociocultural crisis, resource depletion of the planet, the pandemic of historical memory, disease and fear to a certain extent deform globalist expansion, thus determining the consolidation of national life within the state framework and the priorities of cultural and civilizational preferences. The novelty of this study is the author’s demonstrative attempt to integrate the sociocultural anthropogenic, natural, territorial landscape into the cultural and ideological foundations of Russian statehood and civilization, which reveals the prospects for the historical development of the Eurasian range of peoples. This philosophical and cultural intention of the author is based on the civilizational theories of domestic and a number of foreign researchers, who argued that the peoples of Russia-Eurasia have an ethnocultural and spatial middle continent that has mastered the spiritual and cultural achievements of Eastern and Western civilizations over six centuries and found its original place in history, absorbed the life-giving traditions and values of many ethnic groups and cultures. At the core of this axiocentric place, the author places historical Russia as an axis of world geopolitical balance and geocultural foundation, providing the prospect of human development, subject to the formation of a new state ideology of national development and civilizational community of the Eurasian conglomerate of peoples. The article substantiates not only the provisions of the interacting subjects of society, state, and power, but also proposes the cultural and ideological structure of statehood, coupled with the Russian civilization in the following sequence: national idea – national ideal – national ideology – national development strategy, from which follow concepts, doctrines, programs and projects. The following conclusions are drawn in the article: (1) historical, ideological and sociocultural lessons of the past should be learned in the name of the future of the peoples of Russia and the Eurasian space; (2) the prospects for the development of the Russian landscape with its richest natural, anthropogenic and sociocultural potential, allowing for the development and strengthening of the Eurasian cultural and civilizational identity, are determined; (3) the expediency of defining the foundations of the Russian state ideology, state and national patriotism, coupled with the historical and cultural traditions of peoples, providing their living space and prospects for historical development is updated; (4) measures to optimize domestic policy are proposed: sociocultural, economic, political, spiritual, and moral.

Why was the creation of the Universidad Nacional de La Matanza important from the regional point of view? What impact did a national university have for the popular sectors and particularly for women in western Buenos Aires? These proposals guided the present work, with the objective of observing the presence of a group of students who could have greater access to higher education after the establishment of this public institution. The analysis of written documents of local history, and the collection of testimonies as oral sources of protagonists of these processes, add to the gender perspective that makes visible the massive participation of women in Matanzas students. Therefore, historical research is necessary because they contribute to reveal the importance of this university enclave in the evolution of the socio-cultural life of the region., ¿Por qué fue importante la creación de la UNLaM desde el punto de vista regional?

- Abstract
No exactamente.

The article is devoted to the problems of the genesis of socio-historical processes of urban culture of the steppe of the Volga region, is based on historical documents, materials of scientific expeditions conducted in the lower Volga region encyclopedic scientists from the second half of the XVIII century, and the results of archaeological research here settlement sites. Based on the fact that the whole history of mankind is the history of the reference person of its economy, the authors believe that the analysis of the spaces of the modern city must be waged simultaneously in multiple coordinate systems – involving knowledge of scientific disciplines such as history and archeology, sociology, Economics etc. Attention is focused on the events in the Volga steppes of socio-economic and cultural-historical transformation, reflected in the distinctive dynamics of sociocultural development of the medieval (Khazar, the Golden Horde, Russian) and modern cities in the region. The growth of these cities, like all living things, inevitably threatens the time, which naturally destroys some of their historical (and in fact – "root") part to "make room" for new construction. To the relentless dynamism of our era was not able to destroy formed for many generations the idea that is subordinated to the formation and development of each particular city, you should each time from a separate historical parts of the city (or temporal-spatial "fragments") to try to reproduce it in its entirety, as the unity and integrity, while maintaining its inherent identity.

Çalışmadaki temel bulgular, kültürel ve sanatsal yapısıyla birey üzerinde olumlu etkileri olan halk oyunları faaliyetlerinin göçmen çocuklardaki sosyal uyumu geliştirmiş olması, kültürel değerlerin farkındalığının artması, toplumsal, fiziksel, psikolojik, sanatsal ve eğitsel kazanımlarıdır., It is known that folk dances, which are a strong communication and interaction element, have a significant effect on the individual in the social and cultural area. Cultural elements are transferred to future generations through folk dances and the continuity of the culture is maintained. Among many educational, economic and social problems, the most important problem of the Turkish people, who took their life style, language and culture with them beyond borders, to another country, and constitute the largest immigrant group in Germany today, is to preserve their culture, keep it alive and transfer it to new generations. Active participation of children and young people in cultural and social activities held in non-governmental organizations, associations, foundations, etc. is supported, and thus, it is aimed to ensure the continuity of the culture. During the socialization process that starts in the family and continues in the society, the contribution of such institutions is great in the basic personality structuring, formation of the cultural role and assimilation of the cultural values. Munich Alevi Culture Center is an institution established for this purpose. In this study, an interim field research was conducted to observe the development and adaptation process of Turkish children in Germany at folk dance activities organized in the Alevi Community of Munich for 15 years. In-depth interviews were conducted with participants and families of the second and third generations of the Munich Alevi Community in Germany, focusing on the sociocultural development of immigrant children, as well as how they perceive and practice their culture. The main findings of the study are that folk dance activities, which have positive effects on the individual with their cultural and artistic structure, improved social cohesion in immigrant children, increased awareness of cultural values and provided social, physical, psychological, artistic and educational gains.

In this article, such diverse phenomena of Russian sociocultural dynamics as social inertia, modernization, and archaization appear as explanatory constructs in the logic of sociocultural changes that have crisis manifestations. Inertial processes included in the mechanism of sociocultural reproduction are most directly associated with archaic ones, gaining due to them stability and power of influence on the trajectory of sociocultural dynamics. In turn, both of these are triggered by processes associated with changes in the customary logic of sociocultural development. Especially "dangerous" in this context is modernization, symbolizing the transition of society to a qualitatively different (modern) state. Poorly implemented modernization project, which occurs if it is inadequate to the sociocultural specifics of society, activates the inertial regime of sociocultural development, that happened in post-Soviet Russian society. Its diversified ethnocultural and regional landscape with a strong traditionalist component acts as a factor in the transformation of the crisis into an archaic situation as less risky and more understandable. This situation defines inertial scenario of sociocultural development of the Russian society as the most likely in the near future, contrary to the request for changes formed at the level of mass consciousness, associated with stabilization in the format of a well-organized and positively developing society.

No exactamente.

This article investigates the bureaucratisation of Islam in Brunei and its interlinkages with socio-cultural changes. It elucidates how realisations of state-enforced Islamic orthodoxy and purification produce locally unique meanings, while simultaneously reflecting much broader characteristics of the contemporary global condition. The article first introduces a theoretical perspective on the bureaucratisation of Islam as a social phenomenon that is intimately intertwined with the state's exercise of classificatory power and related popular processes of co-producing, and sometimes appropriating symbolic state power. Second, it outlines the historical trajectory of empowering Brunei's national ideology, Melayu Islam Beraja (MIB). It then explores social imaginaries and bureaucratic representations of “deviant”-declared practices, before illustrating how these practices become reinvented within the parameters of state power as “Sharia-compliant” services to the nation state. Simultaneously, national-religious protectionism is paradoxically expressed in thoroughly globalised terms and shaped by forces the state cannot (entirely) control. Newly established Sharia-serving practices become culturally re-embedded, while also flexibly drawing upon multiple transnational cultural registers. In the main ethnographic example, bureaucratised exorcism, Japanese water-crystal photography and scientisation fuse behind the “firewall” of MIB. These hybrid pathways to orthodoxy complicate the narratives through which they are commonly framed.

- Abstract
The aim of the present article is to investigate Alexander Pope's self-fashioning in the light of Pierre Bourdieu's socio-cultural notion of capitals, specifically the symbolic form. Pope endeavors a lot to gain such a prominent status as the most representative poet of his age. He garners all his artistry, eloquence, savoir-faire, family and social milieu to move towards the center of the canon throughout his life. This upward movement comprises a self-fashioning by Pope which sometimes is the means to facilitate his canonization and sometimes it turns into a goal and an end in itself for him. As the highly acclaimed French philosopher, Pierre Bourdieu highlights the importance of symbolic capital in an individual‘s social status. Therefore this paper aims at shedding light on Pope's sophisticated act of self-fashioning and its relevance to Pierre Bourdieu's symbolic capital. For this reason, this article discusses Pope's Epistle to Dr. Arbuthnot, an exemplar of his self-fashioning and accumulation of symbolic capital.

- Abstract
Many rural areas of Western Europe are not any more regions of out-migration, but show increasing levels of international in-migration. As the underlying changes bear wide-ranging effects on the identity of rural inhabitants, encouraging shifts towards new life-styles and cultural approaches, and adaptations of integration measures in regional development are of prime relevance. While the discourse on the concept of rural development was shaped so far mainly by “traditional” approaches and reflected a homogenous perspective, these views are challenged by the recent development of rising immigration towards rural regions in Austria, and to other West-European countries like Italy, France, Germany and the UK. As this led to an increase in social diversity, particularly with regard to the greater divergence of origin, languages used and cultural backgrounds of rural population, differences become visible in community life and strongly influence the norms and values of the local society. The high relevance of international immigration for almost all rural regions of Austria underpins the impact on changes in the socio-cultural structure of rural communities. Out of the rising number of project initiatives in the country which focus on integration at the regional level, some examples that particularly enhance local cultural adaptation are presented in this paper. In recent years, such initiatives are explicitly supported by the small-scale instrument of LEADER within the Rural Development Programme. The core aspect is the reflection of the increasing internationalization of rural regions and its effects on new representations of the “rural” which manifest themselves in turning towards regional activities, actively supporting the continuous shaping of inter-cultural expertise and capacity.

- Abstract
Undoubtedly, the technological revolution in information and communications causing major changes in citizens' social interactions. The new reticular rationality offers the possibility of shaping, developing, and strengthening social networks and virtual communities. All of them facilitate the creation of new interactive spaces, new social collectives promoting citizenship and that, from different social fields and levels of experience, articulate and streamline processes of production, circulation and appropriation of new symbolic products. Such products contribute not only to generating new sources of knowledge but, above all, to strengthening processes of citizen interaction. In such processes, the field of media, religiosities and socio-cultural processes are strategically intertwined. In this context, experiences of civic religiosity find in the potential generated by the global network, new possibilities of interaction and religious recognition. Also new forms and spaces to share plural options of faith and socio-religious practices that make sense of the existence of cybernauts. This text is divided into three parts: First, critically contextualizes the global phenomenon of social networks. Second, it makes an approximation to some experiences of digital networks of religious recognition from Latin America. Finally, raises some questions that arise from such virtual practices.

The article deals with the comparison of stages and tendencies of planning structure development of the city with historical processes of the national and local scale. The main groups of the factors defining development of planning structure are allocated. Unique aspects of evolution of city space are shown. The feature of Yeniseisk consists in maintaining the image of the northern city of the 18th—19th centuries up to now. The historical multiple layers of the city reflecting both architecture history, and evolution of people occupations are of interest. On the other side the situation which has developed in Yeniseisk when only separate objects are under protection and restoration gives rise to concern, and the historical city gradually falls into decay. This material proves taking points about the importance of use of spatial categories in historical knowledge and about need of attraction of crossdisciplinary work when studying the urban environment.
