This research method uses this type of research, namely descriptive qualitative. Several methods of data collection carried out are Interview, Observation and documentation. The results of the study indicate that this central Waste Bank has an obligation to pick up and purchase waste. because so far the Waste Banks that have been formed have collided in the pick-up and purchase areas of waste, so that the Central Garbage Bank is the answer to the problems that have been programmed by the Waste Bank. The average condition of landfills in Indonesia, including Makassar City, is no longer able to accommodate waste and will cause social problems. Majority of India’s rural population depends on biomass burning for cooking and heating purposes on traditional cook stoves called Chullah which results into indoor air pollution. The sampling for this study was carried out in two villages of India viz. Budhwada, Madhya Pradesh (M.P.) and Baggi, Himachal Pradesh (H.P.). Both the regions are significantly different in terms of culture, traditions, topography and daily practices and hence this study helped in understanding the contrast between these regions. The concentrations of carbonaceous aerosols viz. OC (Organic Carbon) and EC (Elemental Carbon) were evaluated for different fuel use in four different houses of each village. Introducing the concept of soft approaches, the residents were asked to bring certain changes in their practices by cooking either with solid biomass or Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) as fuel. The overall average concentration of OC was found to be higher for Budhwada (M.P.) at 124.34 ± 34.68 µg/m3 than at Baggi, (H.P.) with value 105.26 ± 35.63 µg/m3 whereas the reverse was true for the average concentration of EC with value 62.98 ± 20.75 µg/m3 at Baggi, (H.P.) and 55.51 ± 15.51 µg/m3 at Budhwada (M.P.). The average OC and EC concentrations from solid biomass fuel (dung cake) burning at Budhwada (M.P.) was respectively higher by 56.14% and 33.57% as compared to the LPG usage. Similarly, in Baggi (H.P.) village with LPG usage, a significant reduction was observed in OC and EC concentrations (76.69% and 70.10% respectively) when compared with fuelwood burning. House-wise and time-wise variations of carbonaceous aerosols at both the sites confirmed that their concentrations are lower in houses with greater ventilation and higher in cooking times (morning and evening). In Budhwada (M.P.), the concentrations of K+, Ca2+ and SO42- ions decreased significantly from dung cake to LPG use by 67.91%, 76.98% and 51.85% respectively. In Baggi (H.P.), K+ ion concentration was decreased by 63.4% from fuelwood to LPG use. A questionnaire survey conducted on the residents also corroborated the above findings where the residents agreed that LPG use has health benefits over solid biomass fuel usage but the challenges such as supply of LPG into rural interiors, financial feasibility, etc. were of serious concern. Also, changing the contemporary mindset of rural population is a challenging task.

The aim of this paper is to present the ex ante Socio-Economic Impact Assessment of a European Social Science Research Infrastructure (RI) named EuroCohort that will provide, over the next 34 years, a longitudinal study of the well-being of children and young people across Europe.

Performance in academics and sports by students is directly affected by the socio-economic status. Economic status of families is usually measured by the household items they possess. This study has divided the household items into three categories: Vital household items, Essential household items and Desirable household items using statistical technique. All most all the families possess vital household items but not owning essential household items which are brought as status symbol cannot have an impact on academic performance or interest in sports. It has been found that the academic performance or inculcating interest in sports by students is irrespective of their family’s social status. Various statistical techniques are used to study the impact of socio-economic status on the students’ performance in academics and sports.

Sustainable development is the positive socio-economic change that does not undermine the ecological and social systems upon which communities and social systems are dependent. Land provides services to humans and other life forms as well as providing raw materials in production process. Land provides waste assimilation services as well as other ecosystem functions. The aim of this study is to assess the impact of gully erosion on the residents of Kurmin Gwari settlement, Kaduna State, Nigeria. The study intends to identify the percentage of the residents according to localities that have suffered socially and economically from gully incidents. It also intends to determine the relationship between adverse social and economic effects suffered by the affected people in the various localities of the study area. The Primary sources of data are direct observation from fieldwork and the use of questionnaire, while the secondary sources are topographic map and library materials. Descriptive statistical tools were applied to deal with the techniques of summarizing and describing data collected. Percentages, proportion and mean were applied to get expected frequencies. The result revealed that at Layin Pumpo 65% of respondents are affected by destruction of ancestral homeland by gully erosion. 100% are affected by loss of source of water supply. 72.5% find the gully site frightful. 92.5% experience trauma as a result of gully erosion in the area and 57.5% lost relatives. The study recommended that due to gully erosion and other natural environmental disasters, the need for an integrated environmental planning is paramount.

This study provides multi-disciplinary assessment of coronavirus pandemic transmission in Nigeria, magnitude of confirmed cases, recoveries, deaths, and inventory of infected person with recovery lags. It applied the statistical outcomes in predicting spilling over to subsequent periods. It identifies economic sectors worst hit by COVID-19 triggered recession, simulate the estimates of potential fiscal and other macroeconomic impact of the pandemic in the country in short run alongside synthesis of restoration and sustainability strategies. Secondary data relating to coronavirus infection cases, spreads, recoveries and fatalities were assessed, using the susceptible-infected-recovered” (SIR) model in absence of mass testing and probable cessation from health crisis management. It identified economic sectors/activities being devastated by COVID-19 induced recession, provides interim estimates adverse impact based on economic peak and down-turn cycle method. The study also measured the magnitude of macroeconomic shocks in Nigeria’s economy using a standard global computable general equilibrium model and exploration of sustainability strategies based on synthesis of extant reports were employed. These data-sets were obtained from the Nigerian sources and partly from global sources. Furthermore, it utilized trend analysis derived from empirical data of extant daily confirmed cases, discharges and hospitalized person together with tentative projection of additional confirmed cases as from July–September, 2020. Results revealed that confirmed cases in Nigeria will increase steadily from 25694 (in June) to around 74825 by the end September and expected to reach 121000 by end of year 2020. This suggests that the pandemic is likely to persist up to the second quarter of 2021. Education, transport (aviation), hospitality, tourism and sports businesses; trade (informal sector) in the services sector; petroleum exploration in mining sub-sector are most severely contracting activities industries in the economy. Given the prevailing intensity of recession, the result indicates that a reduction of about 5-to-7% in GDP will be recorded in 2020. Result of variance analysis of fiscal budget estimates indicates adverse increase of -2% or more in overall fiscal deficit balances during the periods, which may aggravate debt burden with decline of about -5.7 percent and up to -7 percent in nominal GDP. Health, education, agriculture, petroleum exploration; petroleum refining and petrochemical industries, manufacturing (particularly pharmaceuticals), energy and power generation should be given priority in the sustainability programme.

Количество иностранных студентов (International Student Ratio) - это значимый показатель в глобальных рейтингах университетов. поэтому вузы, стремящиеся улучшить свои позиции на мировом образовательном рынке, активно реализуют программы привлечения иностранных студентов. Краткосрочные образовательные программы академической мобильности характеризуются большой гибкостью, что позволяет удовлетворить широкий спектр потребностей и интересов потенциальных студентов. В июле 2019 г. авторами проведен опрос среди индийских студентов (n = 65), участвующих в программах краткосрочной международной академической мобильности в Уральском федеральном университете (Екатеринбург, Россия). Основная цель эмпирического исследования - изучение роли краткосрочных образовательных программ, реализуемых региональным университетом, в социоэкономическом развитии региона, а также ценности краткосрочной академической мобильности индийских студентов в реализации жизненных стратегий. Выявлены проблемы, препятствующие эффективной реализации краткосрочных образовательных программ в вузах. Результаты исследования показали, что реализация международных образовательных программ ведет к прямым и косвенным экономическим преимуществам и выгодам (иностранные студенты выступают источником дохода и потенциальным актором международного сотрудничества региона). Материалы опроса индийских студентов свидетельствуют о том, что, во-первых, российское образование повышает статусные позиции иностранного студента, способствует успешному карьерному продвижению и становится «мягкой силой» в выстраивании дальнейших международных связей и отношений; во-вторых, знакомство с системой высшего образования формирует потребность продолжить обучение в магистратуре российского университета, укрепляя статус региона и стимулируя платежеспособный спрос на образовательные услуги. Universities are increasingly seen as drivers of regional economic development. In this research, we undertook an analysis of the short-term academic mobility of university students as a factor in the internationalisation of higher education. The number of foreign students (International Student Ratio) attracted from across the world is an important metric in all global university rankings. As a result, universities aiming to improve their positions in the global educational market are actively implementing programmes to attract foreign students. Short-term educational programmes of academic mobility are characterised by a high level of flexibility in terms of management, thus being capable of meeting a wide range of needs and interests of potential students. In July 2019, we conducted a survey among Indian students (n = 65) participating in short-term international academic mobility programmes at the Ural Federal University (Ekaterinburg, Russia). The main goal of the empirical research was to investigate students’ motivational structure of participation in academic mobility and the role of such programmes in the implementation of students’ life plans. In addition, barriers to the effective implementation of short-term educational programmes at universities were revealed. According to the research results, Russian education is a status characteristic for Indian students, which allows them to gain important socio-cultural and communicative competencies, as well as to build professional trajectories in a foreign country. The respondents expressed willingness to continue their education in Russia as part of Master’s degree educational programmes. Among the main barriers and challenges, the respondents mentioned poor knowledge of the Russian language and financial difficulties. The European spallation source (ESS) uses a linear accelerator (linac) to deliver the high intensity proton beam to the target station for producing intense beams of neutrons. At the exit of the linac, the proton beam will have 2 GeV energy and 62.5 mA current. The construction of an accelerator with the contribution of different laboratories is not a new concept but so far the laboratories were controlled by the same government (e.g. in USA and Japan) or they delivered components for an intergovernmental institution like CERN. The European Spallation Source is a research facility that gathers 40 active in-kind (IK) contributors from 13 States, even outside the European Union, so its construction is not only a technical and scientific challenge, but also an economic, political and social experiment. The case of the Italian contribution is interesting because of the structure of Italian industrial ecosystem, mostly based on small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), which may be unsuitable for the case of a research infrastructure which construction requires a high level of R&D investments. Conversely, the well-known flexibility of SME to adapt to the requirements have balanced the weakness and the results are satisfactory. Following the overview of the Linac design, the paper will focus on the key issues of the Italian contribution, the state of the project (73% completion up to now) along with the point of view of the ESS management and the lesson learnt; the major outcomes for the economy and society will complete the discussion.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tanggapan pedagang menyikapi kebijakan relokasi Pasar Kertosono, aksesibilitas menuju Pasar Kertosono sebelum dan sesudah relokasi, dampak relokasi Pasar Kertosono terhadap kondisi ekonomi sosial pedagang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh pedagang yang berjualan di Pasar Kertosono. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 83,07% responden tidak setuju dengan adanya relokasi. Aksesibilitas menuju Pasar Kertosono sebelum dan sesudah relokasi yaitu 63,07% tempat tinggal responden berjarak >1 Km sebelum relokasi, 55,38% berjarak >1 Km setelah relokasi. Dampak relokasi Pasar Kertosono terhadap kondisi ekonomi sosial pedagang sebelum relokasi yaitu 92,30% responden nyaman saat berjualan, 7,69% menjumpai permasalahan, 96,92% dapat maju, dan sesudah relokasi yaitu 84,61% responden tidak nyaman saat berjualan, 15,38% tidak menjumpai permasalahan, 92,30% tidak dapat maju. Kondisi ekonomi pedagang sesudah relokasi meningkat 81,53% pada klasifikasi sangat rendah, menurun 33,84% pada klasifikasi tinggi. Bantuan modal bagi pedagang kecil ini sangat dibutuhkan. Sehingga, selain bantuan modal, pemerintah juga harus memberikan edukasi mengenai perencanaan keuangan dan digital marketing agar pedagang dapat melakukan ekspansi usahanya. Kedepan, perlu adanya telaah lebih lanjut mengenai perbedaan pedagang pasar tradisional dan pasar modern baik dari sisi ekonomi maupun sosialnya.

Background: The spread of COVID-19 has been characterized by unprecedented global lock-downs. Although, the extent of containment policies cannot be explained only through epidemic data. Previous studies already focused on the relationship between the economy and healthcare, focusing on the impact of diseases in countries with a precarious economic situation. However, the pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 drew most countries of the world into a precarious economic situation mostly caused by the global and local lock-downs policies. Methods: A discriminant analysis performed via partial least squares procedure was applied to evaluate the impact of economic and healthcare variables on the containment measures adopted by 39 countries. To collect the input variables (macroeconomic, healthcare, and medical services), we relied on official databases of international organizations, such as The World Bank and WHO. Results: The stringency lock-down policies could not only be influenced by the epidemical data, but also by previous features of the selected countries, such as economic and healthcare conditions. Conclusions: Indeed, economic and healthcare variables also contributed to shaping the implemented lock-down policies.

Socio-economic factors could impact how epidemics spread. In this study, we investigated the possible effect of several local socio-economic factors on the case count and time course of confirmed Covid-19 cases and Covid-19-related deaths across the twenty one counties of New Jersey. Socio-economic and geographic factors considered included population, percentage of elders in the population, percentage of low-income households, access to food and health facilities and distance to New York. We found that the counties could be clustered into three groups based on (a) the case totals, (b) the total number of deaths, (c) the time course of the cases and (d) the time course of the deaths. The four groupings were very similar to one another and could all be largely explained by the county population, the percentage of low-income population, and the distance of the county from New York. As for food and health factors, the numbers of local restaurants and pharmacies significantly influenced the total number of cases and deaths as well as the epidemic’s evolution. In particular, the number of cases and deaths showed a decrease with the number of McDonald’s within the county in contrast to other fast-food or non-fast food restaurants. Overall, our study found that the evolution of the epidemic was influenced by certain socio-economic factors, which could be helpful for the formulation of public health policies.

The overall objective of this study is to explore the practice and challenges of villagization; in the selected woredas of the Assosa zone Beninshangul Gumuz regional state. To achieve goals of the survey study mixed research method was employed. Generally. the Sample size of 168 sample households were determined by using S = X2NP(1-P) ÷ d2 (N-1) + X2P (1-P), The research employed exploratory research design on the challenges and implementation of the program, and it applied mainly qualitative methods. On the basis and types of data gathered and the instrument used, both quantitative and qualitative techniques of data analysis or binary logistic regression supported by SPSS was employed. The only good thing about this life was farming since people had fertile lands. But, when villagization was implemented the lives of the villagers improved because they started to have better access to social services. The study showed that villagization was implemented voluntarily and based on the consent of the local people. However, it is possible to conclude that villagization has significantly improved the lives of the villagers by bringing positive changes that did not exist before. people.

This study aims to investigate the socio-economic effects of shea butter production on producers’ life in the regions of Poro and Tchologo, the largest production areas, in northern C&#244te d’Ivoire. Thanks to a survey carried out on 1200 producers, results showed that 90% of producers are women. The activity of shea butter production is a factor of social cohesion through the formation of several working groups. Producers earned between $82.55 and $86.14 per campaign when retailers earned between $89.73 and $116.64 and the wholesalers between $1794.52 and $1973.98. Pickers (24.16%) and producers (88.16%) had health problem when retailers and wholesalers are spared health problems. The state of C&#244te d’Ivoire had to reorganize the shea sector and involve women at all levels of the chain. It must set the price of the kg of shea butter at the start of each campaign compared to other industrial crops.

In recent years, there have been numerous academic and policy debates on the delivery mechanisms of European Union (EU) funds in member states. Studies focused on issues arising, for instance, during the management and implementation of EU aid at the local level but devoted less attention to the economic and institutional impact of EU funds. To what extent do EU funds act as drivers of socio-economic development and institutional change? Theoretically, this paper contributes to debates about economic convergence and the institutional spillover effects generated by EU aid across national and local settings. Empirically, the paper evaluates the impact of EU aid in Bulgaria and Romania after a decade of EU membership. Firstly, the paper examines a mix of quantitative indicators and secondary sources on the socio-economic impact of EU funds in the two countries. Secondly, using original qualitative evidence, the paper assesses the spillover effects of EU aid on domestic institutions and stakeholders, policies and practices. Finally, the paper provides an analysis of the unintended domestic consequences triggered by EU funds. It contributes to growing debates on the impact of European aid and suggests potential avenues for policy development and for further academic research in this area.

An attempt to algorithmize the process of creating and evaluating the quality of educational institutions' educational and scientific activities using an analogy with software products testing in the IT field is made in this paper. In the scope of this paper for describing the algorithm of creating the educational and scientific activities model for educational institutions, abstract-logical, analogue, and induction-deduction methods are used. The content of each of the given algorithm blocks, particularly from the point of view of its influence on the social and economic development of the state is considered. The multi-stage mechanism for checking the model performance according to the algorithm «testing – quality control – internal quality assurance – external quality assurance» is proposed. Indicators such as the economic model; implementation risk assessment; market research of services and competitors; creation of the network of sub-accounts of educational and scientific services providers; formation of the estimation for each element of the system operation; calculation of the estimated financing for the implementation of activities; search for donors and/or own funds to finance the main components of the system; the place of the educational institution in national and/or international rankings, rankings by specialty, et.; employer feedback; the average salary of the graduate of educational program; graduate carrier growth rate are proposed as socio-economic indicators of educational and scientific activity model (system) for educational institution. The presented algorithm of creating and testing an effective educational and scientific activity model for educational institution makes it possible to determine the conditions of multi-stage verification of the quality assurance mechanisms effectiveness, particularly at the stages of testing, quality control, internal and external quality assurance according to the relevant stakeholders' feedback (testers). At each stage of the algorithm, socio-economic impact factors, which are the tools for further adjustment (if necessary) and optimization of the model are identified.

It is indisputable that COVID-19 virus interfered with the health status, education, socio economic impact on Sri Lanka and is threatening the entire world at present. Several vaccines are being developed; clinical trials are being performed aiming to eradicate the virus. The application of traditional medicinal plants as treatments of patients or as supportive therapies is a common topic being discussed today. In this review, we discuss the current situation of COVID-19 infection in Sri Lanka, pathogenesis of the entry of COVID-19 virus to human red blood cells, hematological complications, existing laboratory diagnosis methods. We discuss the properties of traditional Sri Lankan plant, Lantana camara and how its activities are useful to act against the fatal pathophysiology that may associate with COVID-19 infected and post COVID-19 infected blood. Furthermore, we create a platform to discuss the possibilities of using Lantana camara in the management of COVID-19 patients in future.

Socio-Economic Impact Assessment (SEIA) represents the most widely used tool for determining the potential current and future social and economic impacts of proposed infrastructure and other development projects and for developing appropriate policies and measures by which the identified adverse effects can be mitigated or eliminated, and positive social and economic impacts can be effectively capitalized on for the benefit of communities in which the projects are spatially located. In Slovenia, SEIA is not legally binding; for this reason, its use depends on the content and nature of specific development projects as well as on the assessments of the contracting entity. In this paper, the results of a partial SEIA of the new railway link site selection in the Pomurska region on the route Bad Radkersburg (A) - Murska Sobota (SLO) are presented. The assessment was carried out at three hierarchical territorial levels: at the level of EU, the Republics of Slovenia and Austria; at a wider cross-border level that includes the Austrian Province of Styria and the Slovenian Podravska and Pomurska regions; and at a narrower cross-border level, covering the area between the Austrian town Bad Radkersburg and the Slovenian town Murska Sobota, also including some other important settlements on the Slovenian side of the border. For the purpose of the analysis, we prepared a proposal for four corridors of the new railway line on the route Bad Radkersburg - Murska Sobota. The proposed corridors were evaluated considering the set of seven selected criteria and three evaluation parameters. With the help of the implementation of partial SEIA, we selected the most suitable corridor for the prospective new railway line in this part of Slovenia. We ascertain that SEIA is an appropriate instrument for evaluating the social, economic, and partly also spatial impacts of transport infrastructure planning and construction. Therefore, we suggest that it would be advisable to consider its future inclusion in the relevant legal and regulatory framework in Slovenia.

The socio-economic impact of cassava wastewater on some communities in Okpokwu and Ohimini Local Government Areas of Benue State, Nigeria were investigated. These communities are known for high rate of garri production in the State.Twenty structural questionnaires were administered on 293 residents within the study area. A large number (>80%) of the respondents in the community affirmed that garri wastewater had an offensive odour, changed soil colour, attracted mosquitoes and inhibited plant growth. The study revealed that a large number of the processor may not possess an in-depth knowledge on the effect of the cassava wastewater on the human health and environment at large. Environmental sanitation agencies may carry out routine inspection of processing areas as well as educate the processors of the hazards associated cassava wastewater.

The article identifies the need to monitor the socio-economic consequences of the digital transformation of economic sectors and sectors of the social sphere in the context of key directions of the country’s development. The paper summarizes the possibilities of monitoring the consequences of digital transformation, taking into account the approved National Program “Digital Economy of the Russian Federation”, which is being implemented by monitoring the development of the information society and a number of other tools for statistical accounting of information. The authors identified the problems of statistical monitoring of the consequences of digital transformation for the economy and assessing the gross value added of the digital sector, and also refined the algorithm for calculating the contribution of the gross value added of the digital sector to the gross domestic product.

This paper compares the socio-economic impact of warfare on two frontier zones of the sixth-century eastern Roman empire: the central and northern Balkans; and the northern Syrian-Mesopotamian and Armenian borderlands in the East. The theme of war damage is central to historical and archaeological work on the Balkans but plays a comparatively marginal role in research on the East. And yet the eastern provinces were affected by more intensive raiding by larger armies, and at least as regularly as the Balkans. Much of the difference in perception is related to contemporary sources’ exaggerated coverage of ‘barbarian’ raiding on the Balkans, a region traditionally viewed as a neglected backwater by authors such as Procopius. Conversely, such sources portray warfare with the Sassanid Persians in the East through a ‘classicising’ lens, describing at greater length generals’ speeches, battles, campaigns and sieges. Another reason for the disparity in modern discussions of the two regions is the socio-economic recession in the northern Balkans toward the end of the sixth century. This can be at least indirectly linked to the effects of warfare between the empire and the Avar Khaganate and Slavic groups. Recovery from the devastation caused by these groups’ invasions could no longer be funded by the imperial authorities, who, by this stage, were struggling to finance wars on multiple fronts and were feeling the fiscal effects of repeated bouts of bubonic plague. Despite also suffering from this absence of central investment, eastern societies and economies enjoyed a greater degree of continuity in the final decades of the sixth century. This was because non-imperial sources of agricultural and commercial wealth in these areas encouraged elites to invest in recovery projects. Local elites’ and wider populations’ deep-rooted feelings of cultural, linguistic and religious attachment also played a role in their survival. These economic and cultural ties can in part be explained by the fact that, unlike the Balkans, these eastern provinces had enjoyed a long period of peace and stability in the fourth and fifth centuries.

This article investigates the socio-economic impact of mental illness on individuals and their caregivers in Ghana, whose plight is dire due to poverty, stigma and discrimination. Seeking to illuminate participants’ lived experiences, the study is based on grassroots, first-hand narratives from 12 individuals receiving psychiatric care and 7 of their caregivers. Including caregivers fills a major research gap because they have not been studied extensively in Ghana or Africa, despite facing similar challenges including financial burdens and stigma. We conclude with recommendations for improving government support and social work practice in the context of mental illness in Ghana.

Agriculture is one of the top sectors that help to increase regional development in the Pandeglang regency. Based on this fact, the local government made spatial plans for 201-2031. One of the goals is to maintain the availability of agricultural land in the Pandeglang Regency outside of the LP2B policy. However, along with this policy, the impact of socio-economic in society has not been maximized. This study aims to see how the effect of the regional spatial plans of Pandeglang Regency on the socio-economics of farming communities, especially in Cimanuk District—using qualitative methods with a descriptive approach. The results of this research are that the implementation of the Pandeglang Regency spatial plans is in accordance with the existing objectives but has not been able to maintain the sustainability of the agricultural sector and has not provided a maximum positive impact on the socio-economic of the local community, especially for the farming community in Cimanuk District. This can be seen from the unstable increase in household welfare of the farming community, fluctuating health level, the decrease in the number of unemployed people is still not maximal, etc.

Corona virus disease (COVID-19) is one of the largest pandemics that the world is experiencing now. The disease has infected about 52.44 million people out of which about 1.29 million people have died as on 12th November 2020 and still the counting is on. Although around 36.67 million people have recovered from the disease, still all 220 countries, areas or territories with active cases are under the grip of the deadly Corona virus. Lockdowns and shutdowns are two socials move considered as the available preventive measures against COVID-19. The measure effects of COVID-19 not only causes the negative impact on social, economic, educational but also in every sphere of human life such as faith, religion, etc. The disease has imparted its tremendous effects on many functional and structural aspects in sectors such as social, educational, economical and religions level. Irrespective of the geographic location or richness, COVID-19 has affected all countries directly. Socio-economic, educational and religious sectors are adversely affected by COVID-19. Some of the religious events found to have also positive effects on spreading of the pandemic. However, such adverse of COVID-19 effects are likely to continue because of the uncertainty on the eradication of the disease as specific medicine or vaccine is still not available against COVID-19. COVID-19 has paramount effects on socioeconomic, education and religious sectors. Since, the world is not going to be free of COVID-19 in near future as the world is yet waiting for specific vaccine or medicine against the disease, all must learn how to live with COVID-19. However, the world must learn from the current effects of COVID-19 and use to imply them as spotlights to institute future policies to protect the society.

Decentralized renewable energy projects, such as solar photovoltaic water pumping, have been deployed to provide access to water in rural areas with strong involvement of the local community. However, the ways in which communities benefit from such projects has been insufficiently studied, and the establishment process has been better documented. Moreover, relevant studies from developing countries are limited. This study was conducted to provide empirical evidence of the local impacts of community-scale renewable energy projects in a developing country, using the case of solar water pumping in Indonesia. A questionnaire survey was used to evaluate the socio-economic impacts perceived by the beneficiaries, and, subsequently, qualitative and statistical analysis were conducted. The results showed that the capacity of the local management team and satisfaction in saving money were perceived as the most significant impacts. However, the economic benefit of financial savings did not translate to welfare improvement. These findings provide insights that shows that (1) members of rural communities gained knowledge regarding the renewable energy technology through project deployment and (2) creating a support mechanism along with project deployment is crucial to achieve greater development opportunities in the context of rural poverty alleviation.

Airports plays an important role in shaping the economic activities of communities of which they serve due to the fact that they are among the largest public facilities in the world. The availability of air transportation and its associated airport infrastructure constitute a significant stimulus to economic and social development for the communities located in neighboring areas of the airports. This study examines the impact of Yola international airport on socio-economic activities of Jimeta residents. The study used primary data which were generated from the respondents through the administration of 300 copies of structured questionnaire. The combination of stratified and systematic random sampling was used to administer the questionnaire. Frequency counts and Student T-test were used to analyze the data on the socio-economic activities before and after the upgrade of the airport. The governments across the world have adopted measures to contain the spread of virus which has resulted into restricted economic activities. While economic impacts are diverse and wide spread, the interest in examining impacts at household level is of utmost importance from policy perspectives. This helps monitoring the progress of major socio-economic indicators and make timely and appropriate policy responses. In this context, this perspective paper outlines methodology to be adopted in examining the impacts of COVID-19 in number of household level indicators based on the literatures of impact evaluation. This paper also outlines a framework for identifying key priorities areas with particular reference to Nepal. We propose standard household health production function model with a use of quasi-experimental design as a candidate to examine the impacts at the household level. Likewise, indicators pertaining to poverty, food and nutrition, education, health and labor market are of primary interest with reference to Nepal's development aspirations and trajectory. We expect that this paper will contribute in choosing suitable methodology for assessing impacts at household level and understanding the policy and data context in Nepal.

One of the vital tasks to advance a specific line of research is synthesizing past research findings. Supplementing former quantitative and qualitative assessments of socio-economic impact research; an under-represented area, this study aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis of related articles. By means of co-citation and co-occurrence analyses, a bibliometric survey will give an alternate perspective by depicting the landscape and changing the path of socio-economic impact research over time. Utilizing the scientific visualization instrument VOSviewer and statistical software tool R, 2894 socio-economic impact works gathered from the Scopus database from 1965 to 2019. We used text mining techniques and presented major contents in the form of a conceptual structure map, word tree map, and word clouds. With a quantitative scientometric method, a historic and notable setting of research on socio-economic impact was provided, enabling us to follow the advancement of the field along with distinguishing the most productive authors, journals, institutions, and countries. We identified and envision the landscape of socio-economic research and track how this landscape has advanced. USA and UK are the prominent leaders in publications, although at a regional level most productive is Europe. Journal of Cleaner production, Climatic Change, and Plos One are the most influential and productive journals in the field. The insights of knowledge accumulated from a bibliometric review after mapping the landscape will give scholars an efficient comprehension of the advancement of the socio-economic impact field and a guide to further progress socio-economic impact research literature.

Afghanistan is frequently affected by drought and other climate change related hazards due to increased temperature and reduced precipitation over most parts of the country. The present study was undertaken to analyze the climate change preparedness measures for adaptation and willingness to pay for crop insurance to mitigate the climate change impacts. This study was conducted in central agro-climatic zone of Afghanistan to collect the primary data through the random sampling technique with a total sample of 105 respondents from the seven provinces located in this zone. Likert type responses were used to assess the climate change adaptation and binary log it regression model was used to identify the factors affecting the willingness to pay for crop insurance to mitigate the climate change impacts on agriculture. The results of the study indicated that changing cropping pattern (74%) followed by receiving technical information from experts (70%) and keeping the land as fallow (60%) were rated as very high to high preparedness measures to mitigate the climate change impacts. Logit regression model revealed that the education and technical information received from experts were positively significant and their marginal effects implied that the probabilities of willing to pay for crop insurance were increased by 1.3 and 15.9 percent, respectively. The establishment of crop insurance agencies at province level may help reducing the impact of climate change and increasing the income and livelihood of the farmers.
