Highlights The increasing demand for high‐performance materials in aerospace, automotive, and industrial applications has driven research into carbon fiber reinforced polyetherketoneketone (CF/PEKK) composites. This study introduces a novel slurry method for preparing CF/PEKK prepregs and investigates the impact of fiber surface treatments—desized and non‐desized carbon fibers—on the mechanical properties of the resulting composites. CF/PEKK prepregs were successfully prepared by dispersing PEKK powder in deionized water to create a slurry, which was used to impregnate carbon fibers. After hot‐pressing, mechanical testing revealed that composites with desized fibers outperformed those with non‐desized fibers in tensile strength (3.29%), flexural strength (22.12%), and interlaminar shear strength (18.29%). Furthermore, desized composites exhibited improved impact toughness (24.29%) and reduced fiber pull‐out during tensile testing. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis confirmed enhanced fiber‐matrix bonding in desized composites, with fewer voids and better fiber dispersion. These findings underscore the effectiveness of the slurry method and fiber desizing in improving the mechanical performance of CF/PEKK composites, offering potential for advanced applications in high‐performance sectors. Excellent coating adhesion is a crucial requirement for monolithic catalysts. Within this investigation, a Design of Experiments (DOEs) Taguchi approach was leveraged to construct a 9-factor-3-level matrix encompassing 27 parallel experiments. This framework was employed to scrutinize the pivotal elements influencing the adhesion of FeCrAl metal-based integral coatings, which were prepared using the slurry method. Moreover, an unprecedented endeavor was made to scrutinize the mechanism of coating delamination from the vantage points of macroscopic slurry, microscopic coatings, and nanoscale interfaces. The findings reveal the following: (1) The inclusion of a high-acidity additive (>5%) emerges as one of the pivotal factors in achieving superior adhesion, particularly when the boehmite content exceeds 1%. (2) The existence of binder-filled interstices within the coating, smaller by 1–2 orders of magnitude than the carrier particles, significantly contributes to heightened adhesion. Stretchable nanofiber fabrics refer to fabrics woven with elastic nanofibers, and nanofibers are defined as fibers with a diameter less than 100 nm. For example, nanofibers are implanted on the surface of the fabric to form a stable gas film. The biphobic interface can be used for the purification and filtration of sports equipment, chemical products, medical drugs and other products. The development of sports is increasingly dependent on science and technology, and stretchable nanofibers, as an emerging field of science and technology, are undoubtedly widely used in sports materials. This article first explains the role and background of stretchable nanofiber fabrics in sports equipment, and explains related methods, such as the slurry method for preparing rubber thermally conductive composites in sports equipment, and testing the thermal conductivity and thermal conductivity of composite materials. The application of the above, taking bicycle tires and golf clubs as examples, combined with the average expected lift and 90° three-dimensional weaving method, the tensile strength direction can be obtained. This nanofiber three-dimensional weaving method has a higher tensile load than the composite material in the 90° direction. The average expected improvement of the ordinary weaving method is 36.1%, and the use of 90° three-dimensional nano fabric materials can improve the performance of sports equipment under this material by 16.9% to 51.8%. Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a fat-soluble vitamin-with a benzoquinone-like structure. CoQ10 plays a role in membrane stability, energy conversion, and ATP production. It is also one of the important antioxidants in the body. The bioavailability of exogenous CoQ10 is extremely low due to its poor aqueous solubility and large molecular mass. In this study, mixed proniosomal drug delivery systems have been used to increase solubility and bioavailability of CoQ10. Arginine (semi-essential amino acid) was incorporated in the formulation composition to achieve higher efficacy by boosting nitric oxide presence, endothelial dysfunction, and cellular uptake. Proniosomes were investigated in terms of particle size, polydispersity index, zeta potential, encapsulation efficiency, and process yield, and optimization studies were carried on by utilizing STATISTICA 8.0 software considering dependent factors (carrier amount, drug amount, and surfactant ratio). Optimum proniosome formulation (particle size 187.5 ± 16.35 nm, zeta potential: -44.7 ± 12.8 mV, encapsulation efficiency 99.05±0.30%, and product yield: 90.55%) was evaluated for thermal analysis, in-vitro drug release using microcentrifuge method. In-vitro cytotoxicity studies of proniosomes were performed on intestinal Epithelial Cells (Cellartis®, ChiPSC18) and no cytotoxic effects was seen during the 72 h. Besides, anti Alzheimer effect was investigated on APPSL-GFP lentivirus-infected human neural cells (APPSL-GFP- l -HNC) and Alzheimer biomarkers (p-tau181 and p-tau217). While CoQ10's relative bioavailability was statistically increased by proniosome compared to CoQ10 suspension (p <0.01, Grubb test). PK parameters of proniosome formulation, obtained with non-compartmental modeling, were fitting to the data (R2=0.956±0.026). The study results proved that proniosomal formulation has a high potential drug delivery system for both increasing bioavailability and anti-Alzheimer effect of CoQ10. To improve the corrosion resistance of 304 stainless steel, boron nitride nanoplatelet (BNNP) reinforced chemically bonded ceramic coatings with lateral sizes of 3 μm and 300 nm were prepared on the substrate surface by the slurry method. The surface hydrophobic properties of BNNP coatings with different lateral sizes were characterized by SEM and optical contact angle measurement. The corrosion behavior of the coatings under simulated seawater solution was revealed by an electrochemical workstation. The effects of BNNP lateral size and content on the coatings' microscopic morphology and corrosion protection properties and their mechanisms were investigated. The results show that the surface wetting angle of the coatings increases with the addition of BNNP, the coatings of both lateral sizes have excellent hydrophobicity at 1.0%(mass fraction, the same below) BNNP, and the coatings with 300 nm BNNP have significant improvement, which increase the surface wetting angle of the coatings from 38° to 96.972°. The addition of BNNP improves the coating quality, fills the pores and cracks inside the coatings, and BNNP has good hydrophobicity, which actively contributes to the improvement of the hydrophobicity of the coatings. And 300 nm BNNP has a better sealing effect, creating more nuclei and filling the voids between alumina particles and the adhesive. The coatings with the addition of 300 nm BNNP at 1.0% have the highest low-frequency impedance and corrosion potential of 22500 Ω·cm2 and 0.344 V, respectively, and the corrosion current density reaches the lowest value of 1.12×10-7 A/cm2. The coatings prepared on the surface of the substrate create a physical barrier that effectively hinders the intrusion of corrosive media into the substrate. Compared with the original coatings, the surface morphology of the coatings with BNNP is denser after corrosion, reducing the defects such as pores and cracks in the coatings. BNNP is chemically stable and has good corrosion resistance, which can further delay and retart the corrosion reaction in the coatings and prevent the contact of the substrate with the corrosive medium. The addition of 300 nm BNNP has smaller lateral sizes and a wider distribution range, thus better impeding the expansion of corrosion paths. There are fewer defects such as corrosion pits and holes on the surface. Therefore, the coatings with the addition of 300 nm BNNP have a better effect on hindering the expansion of corrosion paths.

A tritium permeation barrier on the surface of structural materials can effectively solve the problem of tritium fuel penetration and leakage. Herein, SiO2/α‐Al2O3 ceramic coatings are prepared on 316L stainless steel through slurry spin coating method. Different particle sizes of α‐Al2O3 powder are used to prepare three kinds of coatings. The particle sizes of α‐Al2O3 used are 30 nm (sample 1), 200 nm (sample 2), and equal mass ratio of 30 nm and 200 nm mixed (sample 3), respectively. The results show that the ceramic coating is composed of α‐Al2O3 and amorphous SiO2. The coating surface of sample 3 is uniform and compact and exhibits the best microstructure. Compared with samples 1 and 2, sample 3 has better thermal shock resistance. The binding strength of sample 3 is up to 69 N. Electrochemical hydrogen penetration tests indicate that SiO2/α‐Al2O3 ceramic coating can effectively improve the electrochemical hydrogen resistance of 316 L stainless steel substrate. Sample 3 has the lowest stable hydrogen penetration current density and current density difference value. • Bi-modified MoVNbTeO catalysts possess enhanced tolerance toward severe reaction conditions during ODE process. • Incorporated bismuth influences on Te mobility within 6-membered channels of M1 structure. • The improved stability and activity of MoVNbTeO catalysts relates to enhanced Te surface concentration. This work presents the investigation of Bi-modified MoVNbTeO catalysts for oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane (ODE) using the combination of NAP-XPS, in situ XRD and XANES/EXAFS techniques. It was found that introduction of Bi improves the tolerance of catalysts toward severe reaction conditions (high temperature and/or enhanced ethane/oxygen ratio) resulting in a significant decrease in the degree of deactivation. In accordance with NAP-XPS data, the surface/subsurface Te concentration was maintained for Bi-containing MoVNbTeO catalysts even after treatment with a reducing reaction mixture (C 2 H 6 /O 2 >3) at temperatures up to 460 °C. In the case of the unmodified catalyst, such treatment resulted in the surface/subsurface depletion of Te due to the reduction into the Te° state followed by its sublimation into the gas phase. The incorporation of Bi within extended six-membered channels of the M1 structure was suggested based on XANES/EXAFS data. Such incorporation probably influences the mobility of Te within channels, resulting in the limitation of Te diffusion from the particle bulk to the surface. The improved tolerance of catalytically active M1 phase toward severe reaction conditions was confirmed by in situ XRD data during heating in a mixture of 8 wt % C 2 H 6 /He. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The heating surface of a coal-fired boiler is susceptible to high-temperature sulfur corrosion. To investigate and address this problem, a h-BN-based ceramic coating was prepared on the surface of a 20CrMn steel sheet using the slurry method. After sintering, the coating had a relatively dense surface with only a small number of microcracks. The coating and the substrate exhibited a metallic damascene structure and were well bonded. The high-temperature-corrosion behavior of the uncoated and ceramic-coated steel sheets in sulfur dioxide (SO 2 ), hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S), and sulfate environments was investigated. The results show that the coating could effectively prevent inward diffusion of sulfur, and it exhibited high-temperature-corrosion resistance. The high-temperature-corrosion resistance of the coated steel sheet was 8, 7, and 1.7 times that of the uncoated steel sheet in the SO 2 , H 2 S, and sulfate environments, respectively. After corrosion in the SO 2 and H 2 S atmospheres, potassium sulfate (K 2 SO 4 ) crystal grains were formed on the surface of the coating. However, because the coating was relatively dense, thus preventing S diffusion, the presence of K 2 SO 4 was not detected inside the coating. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper presents a double-layered coating system consisting of MoSi 2 ceramic reinforced with SiC whiskers and a MoSi 2 -TaSi 2 ceramic coating reinforced with SiC whiskers. This system improves oxidation resistance of carbon-bonded carbon fiber (CBCF) composites. Double-layer coating was about 160 µm in thickness and no interfaces or cracks between the layer and matrix were observed. Isothermal oxidation tests revealed that as-prepared coating presented excellent oxidation resistance, which could protect CBCF composites at 1500 °C for 160 min with 0.02% weight loss, whereas weight loss of single MoSi 2 ceramic coating reinforced with SiC whiskers reached 0.08%. High-temperature resistance barrier of the glassy phase and Ta 2 O 5 had a positive effect on improving the oxidation resistance of double-layer coating. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Rapid advancement in the field of colloidal science has shown a great progress in the development of proniosome technology (PT) as an impending drug delivery system. PT is a valuable carrier system for delivery of hydrophobic as well as hydrophilic drugs. It is a liquid crystalline compact niosomal hybrid, which upon hydration gives niosomes. They can augment the bioavailability of encapsulated drug and provide better therapeutic activity in a controlled manner. Non-toxicity, penetration enhancing the effect of surfactant and modified drug release from the proniosomal transdermal gel has attracted a greater attention of formulation scientist toward PT. Free flowing dry proniosomal powder are suitable for unit dosage forms such as tablet and capsules. Proniosomes are auspicious drug delivery system for the future. Proniosomes-derived niosomes are a better alternative to the other vesicular system due to their superior physicochemical stability and effective drug delivery capability. The focus of this review is to bring out all the aspects of proniosomes including their different compositions, various methods of preparation, characterization and recent development in their therapeutic applications. Metal foams are a special class of porous materials with novel physical, mechanical, thermal, electrical and acoustic properties. Nowadays, 316L stainless steel (SS316L) foam is considered as one of the attractive metallic materials for biomedical applications due to its excellent mechanical properties, biocompatibility, and corrosion resistance. In this study, SS316L has been used to produce metal foams using the slurry method. The compositions of the SS316L metal powder were 40 wt% and 60 wt%, PEG (3 wt%), CMC (3 wt%) with the remainder distilled water. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and methylcellulose (CMC) were used as a binder. The raw materials were mixed using a ball milling machine. After that, the polyurethane (PU) foams were immersed in the mixture then dried in the oven for 24 hours. Then, the samples were sintered in a box furnace at 1300oC. In order to characterize the samples, several tests were conducted such as x-ray diffraction (XRD), energy diffraction x-ray (EDX), and morphological analysis (optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM)). The most suitable composition of SS316L is 60 wt% with a sintering temperature of 1300°C which resulted in large-pored metal foam. The SS316L metal foams were successfully produced using the slurry method. However, the quality of the SS316L metal foam must be improved because it had too low a strength to undergo mechanical testing.

Water and energy crisis are two problems that need to attend in the next decay. Lack of adequate fresh water throughout the world special in regions with scarcity of water will affect the social manner. This paper discusses on the life cycle assessment for retrofitting the photocatalytic technology as an alternative waste water treatment. The effect and kinetic of UV and solar irradiation on photocatalytic dynamic reactor using TiO2-P25 (Degussa) were investigated for removal of rhodamine B (RhB) dye chosen as organic pollutant. The degradation kinetic of RhB is discussed in terms of Longmire model. The results showed that UV irradiation was more efficient than solar irradiation to degrade the RhB dye. The effect of temperature on performance of photo reactor was monitored in 15, 25 and 50°C. The photocatalytic reactor degraded the RhB in warm conditions better than the cool conditions. Phosphor-converted light-emitting diodes (pc-LEDs), which employ blue LEDs with yellow phosphors to generate white light illumination, is a widely used solidstate lighting source. In order to conduct a phosphor layer coating with high quality on LED chip, a self-adaptive coating technology is introduced in this paper. A slurry coating technique combined with self-exposure method is applied and developed to demonstrate the benefits of self-adaptive coating layer. For self-exposure, the slurry coating is exposed to the blue emission of LED itself other than to ultraviolet (UV) light outside to make photoresist crosslinking. Results of measurement indicate that white LEDs with self-adaptive coating have shown self-adaptability to the angular distribution of intensity of blue light and performed higher spatial color uniformity than those with conventional coating and other conformal coating. An economic process for manufacturing of molten carbonate fuel cells was developed. This process consisted of fabricating the matrix by simply cutting it from a highly porous part with the geometry like an insulator brick, brush painting of the cathode layer followed by sintering and deposition of anode layer through thermal spray process. In order to manage the electrolyte content in the matrix and electrodes, coating of outer surfaces of the produced matrix with alumina slurry provided the required pores with small size at the interfaces with the electrodes. The polarization curves of the cells with alumina slurry coating and without it were not significantly different. The produced layer with small pores at the matrix outer surfaces caused the vaporization of the molten carbonate salt electrolyte to be reduced from 22.9% to 14.4% of initially infiltrated in salt weight content within 100 h of heat treating at 650 °C. Abstract: By adopting a ‘bricks and mortar’ approach, yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) coatings were produced on Fecralloy substrates by a novel slurry method. The slurry contained large preformed particles of 10–60 μm, as the ‘bricks’, and concentrated nano-particle slurry, as the ‘mortar’. Green coatings were prepared by spreading the slurry on substrates. Then sintering at 1200 °C was carried out to produce coatings with grain size up to 200 nm. The presence of larger preformed particles hindered the shrinkage of the coatings during drying and sintering. It was observed that the ‘mortar’ could form inter-preformed particle ‘bridging’, an underlying mechanism for the formation of ‘cemented’ preformed particle network. By using different preformed particles, different micro-architectures were obtained and reduced thermal diffusivities were achieved. Abstract: The preparation of bulk MoVTe(Sb)Nb mixed oxide catalysts using a traditional slurry method, results in highly active catalysts for oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane to ethene. Several major phases including orthorhombic M1, hexagonal M2 or Mo x M1−x O2.8 (M=V or Nb) have been detected in the catalysts from characterization results such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), SEM and EDX analyses. Ethane conversion and yield to ethene increase with increasing content of the M1 phase in the catalysts. The maximum yield of ethene (ca. 87% selectivity and ca. 90% conversion, of 176g h−1) has been obtained with a MoV0.31Te0.2Nb0.14 mixed oxide catalyst, calcined at 873K under nitrogen, containing almost pure orthorhombic M1 phase and small amounts of unidentified impurity phases, operating at a relatively low reaction temperature of 673K. The orthorhombic M1 phase has been shown to be the most active in ethane activation and the most selective for ethene formation. The hexagonal M2 phase is relatively inactive in ethane activation and less selective for ethene formation. The Te-free phases such as Sb4Mo10O31 and Mo x M1−x O2.8 (M=V or Nb) show the lowest selectivity to ethene. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Clays may be modified by introducing hydroxycations between the layers to obtain microporous solids with catalytic or adsorption properties. This study presents the differences occurring in samples when different Al/clay ratios are applied in pillaring a montmorillonite with aluminum. XRD, FTIR, 27Al MAS NMR, nitrogen adsorption isotherms and ammonia adsorption were applied in order to study the structure and properties of pillared materials. Besides the aluminum-forming pillars, we found a fraction of aluminum retained on the clay surface, its extent depending on the Al/clay ratio. This fraction, mainly in tetrahedral coordination, is a result of the pillaring process and especially affecting the textural properties and, to a lesser degree, the acidity. Niosomes are nonionic surfactant vesicles that have potential applications in the delivery of hydrophobic or amphiphilic drugs. Our lab developed proniosomes, a dry formulation using a sorbitol carrier coated with nonionic surfactant, which can be used to produce niosomes within minutes by the addition of hot water followed by agitation. The sorbitol carrier in the original proniosomes was soluble in the solvent used to deposit surfactant, so preparation was tedious and the dissolved sorbitol interfered with the encapsulation of one model drug. A novel method is reported here for rapid preparation of proniosomes with a wide range of surfactant loading. A slurry method has been developed to produce proniosomes using maltodextrin as the carrier. The time required to produce proniosomes by this simple method is independent of the ratio of surfactant solution to carrier material and appears to be scalable. The flexibility of the proniosome preparation method would allow for the optimization of drug encapsulation in the final formulation based on the type and amount of maltodextrin. [Display omitted] • The microstructure and oxidation behaviour of Ti-Al-Si slurry coatings on Ti48Al2Cr2Nb alloys were described. • The mechanism of coatings formation and oxidation was developed. • The influence of Si on microstructure and oxidation behaviour was presented. In the presented study, different Ti-Al-Si coatings were deposited on Ti-48Al-2Cr-2Nb (at. %) alloy via the slurry method. Al and Si's nominal content in coatings was varied (100 at. % Al, Al-5Si, Al-12.5 Si, Al-20Si, Al-40Si, Al-60Si, Al80Si, 100 at. % Si) to find an optimal coating resistant to high-temperature oxidation. The deposited materials were analyzed because of the microstructure and phase composition. Afterwards, the obtained modified aluminide coatings were subjected to the isothermal oxidation at 900 °C for 500 h. After the oxidation experiment, the oxidized coatings were evaluated, taking into account the microstructure, chemical and phase composition of the oxidation products. The most favourable oxidation behaviour was noticed for the aluminide coatings with Si's small content (respectively 5 and 12.5 at.% Si). In these cases, on the surfaces, the protective α-alumina scale was formed. Moreover, the Ti 5 Si 3 phase was detected for the oxidized Al-12.5Si (at. %) coating. New slurry cementation method was used to produce silicide and silicide-aluminide protective coatings on molybdenum alloy (TZM). The slurry cementation processes were carried out at a temperature of 1000 °C in different time intervals with the use of varied slurry mass values. The microstructure and thickness of the coatings were studied by means of scanning microscopy. Chemical composition using X-ray microanalysis and phase composition using X-ray diffraction were also investigated. Coating microhardness was determined. The obtained coatings had a multilayer structure. Phases from the Al-Si-Mo system were observed in silicide-aluminide coatings and phases from the Si-Mo system were observed in silicide coatings. The microhardness strongly depended on the phase composition of the coating. It was demonstrated that slurry mass values had an important influence on the morphology and growth kinetics of silicide-aluminide coatings. In the case of a small amount of the slurry, the deficiency of alloying elements occurring during long processes reduces growth kinetics and can lead to void formation in the structure of silicide-aluminide coatings.

The slurry method was used to form a ceramic coating on copper with a NiCoCrAlY transition layer. The raw materials were optimized using FactSage software, with SiO 2 , Al 2 O 3 , and ZrO 2 being combined in proportions of 64.1%, 17.6%, and 18.3%, respectively. The sintering temperature was set to 600 °C, three granulometric compositions of ceramic aggregates were selected, and samples A, B, and C were fabricated to analyse the effects of particle size on the coating phase compositions and microstructures. However, sample C broke due to the formation of disordered-albite and thus, was not subjected to further analysis. The bonding strength, wear resistance, and thermal shock resistance of samples A and B were tested, with sample B performing better than sample A in all the above tests. Acid slurry for washcoating tends to cause acid pollution on substrate and active components and even reduces the loading capacity. To solve the problems, washcoat of γ-Al 2 O 3 on FeCrAl mesh was prepared with acid-free slurry in this study. Effects of additives on loading and adhesive property were investigated. The macromorphology, microstructure, phase constituents, pore characteristics and adhesive strength of the washcoat were analyzed with scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, nitrogen physical adsorption and ultrasonic oscillation tests. Experimental results indicated that adding 0.7 wt% hydroxyethyl methyl cellulose (HEMC) to the slurry could improve the loading capacity and adhesive property of washcoats. With the same additive added, washcoats prepared by neutral slurry demonstrated the highest adhesive strength, with its bonding strength sharply reduced under strong acidic or alkaline conditions. More importantly, the washcoat prepared with acid-free slurry could disperse homogeneously on the structured substrate, which could enhance the mechanical properties of the washcoat. There was no blockage of the coated meshes. The maximum washcoat loading was 24.52% and the average mass loss after ultrasonic oscillation was 1.66%, showing a high loading capacity and excellent adhesive strength. • Structured catalysts have high specific surface area, low pressure drop and short diffusion distance. • Low-viscosity slurry increases the adhesion between washcoat and substrate but reduces the loading capacity. • Hydroxyethyl methyl cellulose has obvious regulatory effect of viscosity, which result in high-viscosity slurry. • Acidic slurry is not suitable for substrate and washcoat that are not resistant to acid corrosion. • Well-adhered washcoat must find a balance between high loading capacity and low mass loss.
