The current study focuses on selecting the most suitable site location for a manufacturing industry using the Factor Rating Method (FRM). The study considers six key factors: Raw Materials Availability, Location, Availability of Labor, Transport, Availability of Utilities, and Environmental Impact. The FRM assign weights to each factor based on their relative importance. The results indicate that Raw Materials Availability holds the highest weight, suggesting its critical influence on site selection decisions. Subsequently, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Best Worst Method (BWM) are utilized to prioritize three available location alternatives through pairwise criteria comparisons. The analysis reveals that Location C emerges as the most favorable option, effectively meeting the manufacturing industry's requirements. The successful application of these methods demonstrates their value in aiding decision-making processes related to site location selection. Lake Michigan continues to have a major impact on the environment in the Chicago region, and changes in lake levels were a major driver of landscape evolution throughout the late Pleistocene and Holocene. Fluctuating lake levels reduced or increased the extent and character of terrestrial resources. The landscape has also been altered by erosional and aggradational processes from near-shore currents and wave action. Interpretation of archaeological site and settlement patterns in this region requires an understanding of the factors that have shaped and continue to shape this landscape. In the PaleoIndigenous and Archaic periods, foraging groups adapted to rapidly changing vegetation patterns and episodes of lake transgression and recession that opened or closed new habitats. In the Woodland and Upper Mississippian periods, lake levels stabilized, but the landscape continued to evolve, with erosion and deposition of sediments along Lake Michigan shorelines. Evidence for lake-level fluctuations over the last 12,000 years is available from a variety of data sets, including those for deep lacustrine sediments, ostracods, abandoned shorelines, and sand dunes. By synthesizing these data and utilizing GIS to reconstruct past lakeshores, we seek to better understand how people interacted with and adjusted to this dynamic landscape. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The nonlinear optical semi-organic single crystal with good optical quality was formed through a series of re-crystallization processes using slow evaporation from solution growth method at room temperature. On a Cu2+-doped CA5SS single crystal, electron paramagnetic resonance studies have been carried out using the most sensitive EPR spectroscopy with an X-band microwave frequency as an input signal at room temperature. Two magnetically comparable Cu2+ sites were found in the CA5SS single-crystal system based on the angular variation of the EPR hyperfine lines spectra for different crystallographic planes. Sites I and II around the impurity ion Cu2+ in the crystal system are in axial symmetry and rhombic symmetry, respectively, according to the computed spectroscopic splitting factor 'g' and hyperfine splitting factor 'A.' Site I of the two paramagnetic impurity ions is located in the host lattice's substitutional position taking the place of the monovalent (Ca+) cation. Site II is located in an interstitial position. The values of the molecular orbital coefficients have been used to calculate the covalent nature of the bonding between the impurity ion and the host lattice. With time, there has been a shift in the approach towards location and design of mental health establishments across the globe. In India, the situation changed significantly after the establishment of the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017. The nature of change has been affected by the history, cultural norms, and climatic conditions of the country as well. However, today, India follows a generalized design guideline that is devoid of country-specific considerations. Moreover, there is a dearth of recent research work based on contextual design and site location considerations for a mental health establishment in India. This paper presents a study on the current policies of India, the existing design and location theories of mental health care facilities and contextualization of those theories on two primary case studies and two possible site locations. The findings are then applied to an academic design project with a discussion on the possible design and location considerations that need to be addressed in country or state-specific guidelines. Investigation of the VO2+ ions in a single crystal of glycine zinc sulphate (GZS) using electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy is done at ambient temperature. The single crystal was formed using a solution growth process that slowly evaporated at room temperature. EPR spectrum has been recorded for three mutually orthogonal crystal planes of the prepared GZS single crystal. In the present research work, two identical distinguishable VO2+ ion sites have been followed and analyzed. According to the calculated g-principle values, the examination of the hyperfine line positions for all three planes explains why the impurity ion occupies rhombic crystal field symmetry with the surrounding ligands. Additionally, it is revealed that both sites occupy as a substitutional position in the crystal lattice site by taking the place of the zinc ion site, since the effect of spin–orbital motion coupling is dependent on the distinct nature of the paramagnetic ion environment. The optical absorption spectrum of vanadyl ions-doped glycine zinc sulphate was measured in the UV–Vis–NIR range. Comparing Spin Hamiltonian parameters and optical absorption studies, the molecular orbital coefficient values, such as β1*2, β2*2, eπ*2, K, (1 − α2), and (1 − γ2), were calculated. From the above data, the ionic bonding nature and contribution of σ, π bonding were found out which decide the different behaviors of electrons affecting the crystal properties. The analysis of site locations is an important component of archaeological research. Recent advances in this topic include the use of ecological models such as the ideal free distribution and its variants, which predict site locations under various conditions in relation to criteria that promote the greatest adaptive success. Such models can face problems in determining such criteria and especially their relative importance. Another approach, which can be used in conjunction with these models, uses the concept of decision trees to infer the relative ranking and the hierarchy of the role of different criteria in the actual locational decisions underlying site placement. Examples from ethnography and European archaeology demonstrate this approach and additionally allow the consideration of another issue, the contexts in which site function and location are likely to be strongly correlated. The purpose of geographic location selection is to make the best use of space. Geographic location selection contains a large amount of spatiotemporal data and constraints, resulting in too many solutions. Therefore, this paper adopts the ant colony algorithm in the meta-heuristic search method combined with the incomplete quadtree to improve the searchability of the space. This paper proposes an improved ant colony algorithm in nonuniform space to solve the P-center facility location problem. The geographic space is divided by the incomplete quadtree, and the ant colony path is constructed on the level of the quadtree division. Ant colonies can leave pheromones on multiple search paths, and optimized quadtree encoding in nonuniform space stores pheromone matrices and distance matrices. The algorithm proposed in this paper improves the pheromone diffusion algorithm and the optimization objective at the same time to update the pheromone in the nonuniform space and obtain the ideal solution. The present study discusses the synthesis of lithium-doped barium stannate titanate BaTi 0.89 Sn 0.11 O 3 (BTS 11) using sol–gel synthesis route and explores the influence of the lithium content on their structural, morphological, ferroelectric, optical, and electrical properties. The phase of the sol–gel prepared samples with different atomic composition BaLi x Ti 0.89 Sn 0.11 O 3 (BL x TS 11), with x = 0 %, 2 %, 4 %, 6 %, 8 and 10 %, was investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD) revealing the formation of pure perovskite exhibiting lattice strain. Structural characterization was additionally conducted using Raman spectroscopy to detect structural and the chemical environment modifications caused Li incorporation. The doping induced variation also in the morphology and grain size of BL x TS 11 pellets studied using SEM micrographs, which revealed evident grain size changes inversely proportional to the BL x TS 11 lattice strain. The samples were then inspected for their ferroelectric properties. The maximum dielectric constant of all samples was observed at a temperature of around 45–50 °C. In addition, correlations between the chemical, structural, and morphological properties of the BL x TS 11 ceramics and their energy storage capabilities were established. According to the P-E hysteresis behavior, BL 6 TS 11 ceramic (x = 6 %) ferroelectric demonstrated the highest energy-storage capabilities, with a recoverable energy-storage density of 225 mJ/cm3 and an energy-storage efficiency of 60 %. The optical and electrical properties of the material were also investigated revealing a decrease in the band gap values and a significant increase of resistivity by Li doping. Background and purpose: In recent years, the rapid growth of cities has been led to an increase in the production of various types of solid wastes in urban areas. Although landfilling is the last step in municipal solid waste management, but it is one of the common methods in developing countries’ municipal solid waste management. The purpose of this study is to accurately locate urban landfills in Naien county by using a combination of fuzzy and boolean methods. Materials and methods: In this study, AHP model was used to standardize and determine the weight of criteria and sub-criteria. The innovation of this research is the combination of the results of fuzzy and boolean logic. The fuzzy method consists of two groups, the first group is calculation the weight of criteria and the other one by calculating the weight of sub-criteria, and the results of boolean logic with five classes including calculation the weight of criteria and sub-criteria. Results: The results of this study show that the mentioned fuzzy and boolean methods have identified 34, 48779, 16000 and 7630 hectares of areas in Nain county as the most suitable areas for creating urban landfills. According to the weight of methods, a single map with four main patches is resulted by combination of these four methods, which includes a total of 5055 hectares in Nain. Conclusion: The results of this study show that the combination of fuzzy and boolean logic results provides better areas for landfill than using the methods individually.

Background and Aim: Waste production is a natural consequence of human life and mismanagement of solid waste can result in environmental hazards. Determination of an appropriate location to sanitary landfill site is one of the most common ways to deal with this crisis. The purpose of this research is to find an appropriate location for landfill site in Qorveh city due to its specific location in terms of agriculture and mining. Materials and methods: The research method in this study was descriptive, analytical and quantitative. In order to locate the landfill, firstly effective information layers in landfill site study (land use layer, rivers, roads, conservation areas, soils, groundwater, morphology, …) were identified and developed using the collected data from organizations and information centers. Finally,(GIS), (AHP) and (WLC) were used to integrate the maps. Results: The Analytical Hierarchy Process is one of the most efficient techniques designed for multi-criteria decision making, as it enables the formulation of complex problems. Due to limitations, appropriate landfill site options were identified using GIS and used as input data for the hierarchical analysis process. Distance from population centers (towns and villages), distance from surface and groundwater sources are the most important indicators. Conclusion: By combining two methods of multivariate Weighted Linear Combination (WLC) and Analytical Hierarchy Process(AHP) model, the most priority areas were determined with concentration on distance from population centers (towns and villages), distance from surface and groundwater resources,. After extracting the criteria information layers from the maps and prioritizing the 4-storey location ranges, it became clear that the northern direction of Qorveh city with an area of ​​210 hectares is the most suitable area for sanitary landfill of solid wastes.

The discard of shells in visible heaps, shell middens in our terminology, need not reflect the consumption locations, but may rather be field processing sites prior to the transport of edible flesh elsewhere, likely inland. The comparison of shell midden locations, sizes and contents from a well-studied section of the Cape west coast of South Africa, against the framework of Metcalf and Barlow's (1992) model of the 'optimal trade-off between field processing and transport' leads us to suggest that through time different decisions were made by local shellfish gatherers. Due to the devastating ecological effects and constrained reserves of fossil fuels, renewable energies are now globally accepted as viable alternative sources of energy. Among renewable energy sources, wind energy has become globally popular, primarily because wind farms can be rapidly built and easily maintained at a relatively low cost. Wind-powered hydrogen production is an effective solution for storing the excess energy output of wind farms. The hydrogen produced in this way can be used not only in fuel cells but also in cooling, oil, gas, and petrochemical fields. As a country devastated by war and instability, Afghanistan has major energy generation challenges and a substantially large power supply deficiency. However, there are good wind energy potentials in several parts of this country. There are also several hydrogen-consuming fields in Afghanistan that can benefit from hydrogen production from wind energy. This paper endeavored to distinguish the appropriate areas in Afghanistan for harvesting wind energy for hydrogen production using multi-criteria decision-making techniques. Eleven criteria were utilized to prioritize 20 Afghan provinces with wind energy potential. The Step-wise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis (SWARA) was utilized to weight the criteria and Evaluation based on Distance from Average Solution (EDAS) were utilized to prioritize the provinces. Then, ARAS, TOPSIS, and VIKOR methods were used to validate the resultants. For criteria weighting with SWARA, "wind speed", "wind power density" and "area of windy regions" with weights of 0.1423, 0.1356, and 0.1221 were introduced as the most significant criteria for this ranking. In all the rankings, Herat, Farah, and Jowzjan were identified as the top three most suitable provinces for wind power generation. This dataset consists of Australian Aboriginal archaeological locations of interest in the greater Nepean River area in New South Wales, Australia.

Problem Statement: In the present era, planners are required to adopt appropriate policies for the proper deployment of land uses in the form of principles of sustainable land management. In this regard, the necessity of locating site of major commercial centers is to a great extent considered as one of the influencing factors on cities economic success. Purpose: Shopping auto mall centers require proper site selection in order to prevent the dispersion of their service centers due to the widespread provision of services and the growing need of citizens for cars. Therefore, the present study aimed to locate the construction site of an auto mall shopping center in Gaz-e-Borkhar. Method: The research method is based on spatial data analysis based on comparative studies and field evaluations. The selected criteria included access to services and communication ways, hazards in terms of privacy and flooding, landscape and climate form whose digital layers were prepared based on spatial maps and data, and were analyzed in ArcGIS software environment. To determine the relative weight of the parameters, quantitative analysis was performed and prioritized by pairwise comparison. Finally, by combining the layers based on their weights through weighted means method, the zoning map of the area was prepared for optimal regions to create a shopping auto mall center. Results: The results of the research categorized the study area into five zones ranging from very appropriate to very inappropriate to construct a shopping auto mall center. Zones 1 to 3 due to low land use, and Zone 4 due to intersection with the agricultural lands were not ranked as optimal. But, the 5th zone (very suitable) because of the intersection with the residential areas and the existing aqueducts, was classified into 4 sites from south to southeast of Gaz-e- Borkhar. Respectively, Site 1 was very desirable (82.593 hectares), Site 2 strongly desirable (56.359 hectares), Site 3 desirable (21.158 hectares) and Site 4 with low desirability (11.346 hectares) were prioritized, respectively, as suitable places for constructing a shopping auto mall center. The first place (site 1) has the highest function and performance. Archaeologists are tasked with balancing a call to open data and the need to maintain confidentiality of sensitive archaeological site locations. Low-resolution mapping and data aggregation are the methods most commonly used to hide site locations; however, we understand little of the effectiveness of these practices. Trends in geomasking, obscuring observed geographic points, to anonymize public health data are suggested as a source of methods for sharing archaeological site data. Archaeologists have available to them a number of geomasking methods that balance open data and site security in different ways. Low-resolution mapping at several scales and random direction with fixed radius, random perturbation donut, and Gaussian donut techniques are tested on a set of archaeological site locations. Random perturbation donuts resulted in the best balance between obscuring archaeological locations and conveying observed spatial patterning. Researchers should carefully consider how they convey archaeological location data, as commonly used low-resolution scales may not provide the desired level of obscurity. Abstract This paper uses site suitability analysis to identify locations for solar farms in the UK to help meet climate change targets. A set of maps, each representing a given suitability criterion, is created with geographical information systems (GIS) software. These are combined to give a Boolean map of areas which are appropriate for large-scale solar farm installation. Several scenarios are investigated by varying the criteria, which include geographical (land use) factors, solar energy resource and electrical distribution network constraints. Some are dictated by the physical and technical requirements of large-scale solar construction, and some by government or distribution network operator (DNO) policy. It is found that any suitability map which does not heed planning permission and grid constraints will overstate potential solar farm area by up to 97%. This research finds sufficient suitable land to meet Future Energy Scenarios (UK National Grid outlines for the coming energy landscape). Abstract The techno-economic analysis investigates first the impact of tilt angle and orientation on the production profile of a rooftop solar generator and the related performance of a photovoltaic battery storage system for single family houses at a specific location in Germany. Then, a technical comparison to a different location in Almeria in Spain is performed. The calculations are model-based and take into consideration the consumer load profile, technical and economic photovoltaic battery storage system parameters as well as the framework of regulations for the case of Germany. The parameters “share of self-consumption”, “degree of autarky”, and “economic efficiency in terms of levelized cost of electricity” make up the focus of the modelling results. It is concluded that self-consumption and degree of autarky are strongly and inversely related. In terms of system design, a trade-off has to be made between aiming for high self-consumption and a high degree of autarky. Key findings from the modelling results reveal that in Lindenberg in Germany, a south orientation gives the highest degree of autarky and the lowest levelized cost of electricity, but with the lowest share of self-consumption as well. For rooftops oriented towards east/west, an interesting possibility could be to split the total installed capacity (equally) between the two orientations. This makes it possible to benefit from the high self-consumption of the east orientation and the high degree of autarky of the west orientation. In general, it has to be considered that the optimum orientation strongly depends on the consumer load profile. The technical analysis shows that changing the location to Almeria increases degree of autarky and decreases share of self-consumption for south orientation with different magnitude that depends on the load profile. Finally, the results show opposite impacts that depend on orientation and location when switching from a tilt angle of 30° to 45°. For a south orientation in Almeria and Lindenberg, the degree of autarky is increased when approaching the optimum tilt angle, while for west and east orientations in Lindenberg self-consumption increases. The best location for a coffee shop to combine physical and technical accessibility is Cassel, a small city in the French Flanders where the rent is not expensive and the demand is increasing. Energy efficiency plays a large role in the sustainability effort of water utilities. In gravity-fed pipe networks that present excessive pressures, the installation of micro turbines or pumps-as-turbines for energy recovery can provide significant benefits. The main obstacles associated with this kind of solution include the high cost of implementation (equipment and installation) and the time-consuming task of searching for potential and feasible sites for the power plant implementation. In this work, a numerical methodology for the analysis of any water supply and distribution network in order to optimally locate sites for maximum energy recovery and to preliminarily select or design turbines is proposed and validated with a case study. The idea of this decision support tool is to facilitate the assessment of the potential for energy production in networks and encourage the implementation of this type of efficiency measure. The proposed approach consists of two main stages: (1) identification of potential sites for energy recovery through an optimization procedure and (2) selection of adequate types of turbine and preliminary feasibility analysis. In the aftermath of natural disasters, decision-makers often clash when tackling the challenge of choosing suitable temporary housing unit (THU) site locations. Site location considerably impacts temporary housing (TH) delivery time and the displaced population's (DP's) satisfaction. At the same time, selecting a suitable site is important to help increase the performance of the THUs in their subsequent life. To this end, this study aimed to design a new model for selecting site location based on sustainability concepts. The new model combines the integrated value model for sustainable assessment (MIVES) and the Knapsack algorithm to identify a subset of sustainable sites amongst the possible options based on the required area. The new model was applied to determine the best subset of sites for THUs for a seismic hazard along the Mosha fault in Tehran, Iran. Orientation: Franchising is a popular and multifaceted business arrangement that captures a sizeable portion of the restaurant industry worldwide. Research purpose: The study empirically investigated the influence of various site location and branding factors on the growth of franchised fast food restaurant brands across the greater Gauteng region. Motivation of the study: Researching which factors influence the growth of franchised fast food restaurant brands is important for an emerging market context such as South Africa when considering the marked increase in the consumption of fast foods. Design: A sample of 140 customers was surveyed from 12 leading franchised fast food outlets. Primary data were collected for various items representing site location and brand factors. Regression analysis was used to test the hypotheses. Findings: The overall findings showed that convenience and central facilities of a retail location are positively and significantly associated with the growth of the franchise fast food outlet. Practical implications: The study findings have implications for practitioners who need to take into account which factors influence revenue growth, since targeted interventions may be required to implement sustainable strategies by franchisors. Contribution: The findings may serve as a catalyst for this growing and important activity in South Africa and other emerging markets.

One of the environmental issues in urban planning is finding a suitable site for constructing infrastructures such as water and wastewater treatment plants. There are numerous factors to be considered for this purpose, which make decision-making a complex task. We used an integrated fuzzy logic and multicriteria decision model to select a suitable site for establishing wastewater treatment plant in Kahak, Iran. We used super decision software and a geographic information system (GIS) for scoring the parameters. The western part of Kahak was found to be a suitable place for constructing municipal wastewater treatment plant. Our findings indicated that decision makers and policy makers would be able to achieve better results concerning the most suitable location for wastewater treatment plant easily through combining these two models.
