Understanding the underlying physics of natural gas hydrate dissociation is necessary for efficient CH4 extraction and in the exploration of potential additives in the chemical injection method. Silica being "sand" is already present inside the reservoir, making the silica nanoparticle a potential green additive. Here, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations have been performed to investigate the dissociation of the CH4 hydrate in the presence and absence of ∼1, ∼2, and ∼3 nm diameter hydrophilic silica nanoparticles at 100 bar and 310 K. We find that the formation of a CH4 nanobubble has a strong influence on the dissociation rate. After the initial hydrate dissociation, the rate of dissociation slows down till the formation of a CH4 nanobubble. We find the critical concentration and size limit to form the CH4 nanobubble to be ∼0.04 mole fraction of CH4 and ∼40 to 50 CH4 molecules, respectively. The solubility of CH4 and the chemical potential of H2O and CH4 are determined via Gibbs ensemble Monte Carlo simulations. The liquid phase chemical potential of both H2O and CH4 in the presence and absence of the nanoparticle is nearly the same, indicating that the effect of this additive will not be significant. While the formation of the hydration shell around the nanoparticle via hydrogen bonding confirms the strength of interactions between the water molecules and the nanoparticle in our MD simulations, the contact of the nanoparticle with the interface is infrequent, leading to no explicit effect of the nanoparticle on the dynamics of methane hydrate dissociation. Regarding the rheological properties of fluids, certain nanoparticles can markedly modify the rheological behavior of low surface tension solutions by interacting with surfactant molecules. In this work, a low surface tension fluid with cetyltrimethylammonium chloride was prepared, and the silica nanoparticles were uniformly dispersed into it by ultrasonic dispersion. By adjusting the size, shape, and concentration of nanoparticles, the fluid behavior can be changed from Newtonian to non-Newtonian with finely tuned viscosity and characterized by a shear-thinning rheological behavior. In addition, this work explored how variations in environmental temperature and solution pH affect the rheological responses of the low surface tension suspension system. The experimental findings revealed that increasing the temperature substantially decreases the system's viscosity and induces a shear-thickening behavior. It is particularly significant that, under extreme pH conditions (either strongly acidic or alkaline), the viscosity of the nanoparticle suspensions was markedly enhanced at a particle concentration of 10 000 ppm. This interesting result coincided with a notable reduction in the zeta potential and an increase in the average particle size, suggesting an intensified aggregation of particles within the suspension system. A mechanism detailing the interaction between silica nanoparticles and surfactant micelles was proposed. The prevention of drying-induced cracking is crucial in maintaining the mechanical integrity and functionality of colloidal deposits and coatings. Despite exploring various approaches, controlling drying-induced cracking remains a subject of great scientific interest and practical importance. By introducing chain-like particles composed of the same material and with comparable size into commonly used colloidal suspensions of spherical silica nanoparticles, we can significantly reduce the cracks formed in dried particle deposits and achieve a fivefold increase in the critical cracking thickness of colloidal silica coatings. The mechanism underlying the crack suppression is attributed to the increased porosity and pore sizes in dried particle deposits containing chain-like particle, which essentially leads to reduction in internal stresses developed during the drying process. Meanwhile, the nanoindentation measurements reveal that colloidal deposits with chain-like particles exhibit a smaller reduction in hardness compared to those reported using other cracking suppression approaches. A combination of experimental and numerical investigations on metallic silver and platinum nanoparticles deposited on silica substrates is presented, with a focus on metal–substrate interactions. Experimentally, the nanoparticles, obtained by ultra-high vacuum atom deposition, are characterized by grazing-incidence small-angle x-ray scattering and high resolution transmission electronic microscopy to determine their structure and morphology and, in particular, their aspect ratio (height/diameter), which quantifies the metal–substrate interaction, from the as-grown to equilibrium state. Numerically, the interactions between the metal and the silica species are modeled with the Lennard-Jones (12, 6) potential, with two parameters for each metal and silica species. The geometric parameters were found in the literature, while the energetic parameters were determined from our experimental measurements of the aspect ratio. The parameters are as follows: σAg–O = 0.278 nm, σAg–Si = 0.329 nm, ɛAg–O = 75 meV, and ɛAg–Si = 13 meV for Ag–silica and σPt–O = 0.273 nm, σPt–Si = 0.324 nm, ɛPt–O = 110 meV, and ɛPt–Si = 18 meV for Pt–silica. The proposed Ag–silica potential reproduces quantitatively the unexpected experimental observation of the variation of the aspect ratio for Ag nanoparticles larger than 5 nm, which has been interpreted as a consequence of the silica roughness. The nanoparticle orientation, structure, and disorder are also considered. This metal–silica potential for Ag and Pt should be helpful for further studies on pure metals as well as their alloys. Understanding polymer transport in nanopores is crucial for optimizing heterogeneously catalyzed processes in polymer upcycling and fabricating high-performance nanocomposite films and membranes. Although confined polymer dynamics have been extensively studied, the behavior of polyethylene (PE)—the most widely used commodity polymer—in pores smaller than 20 nm remains largely unexplored. We investigate the effects of extreme nanoconfinement on PE transport using capillary rise infiltration in silica nanoparticle packings with average pore radii ranging from ∼1 to ∼9 nm. Using in situ ellipsometry and the Lucas–Washburn model, we discover a previously unknown inverse relationship between effective viscosity (ηeff) and average pore radius (Rpore). Additonally, we determine that PE transport under these extreme conditions is primarily governed by physical confinement, rather than pore surface chemistry. We refine an existing theory to provide a generalized formalism to describe the polymer transport dynamics over a wide range of pore radii (from 1 nm and larger). Mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) have displayed high‐potential prospects in biomedical use, especially for drug delivery due to large surface area, tunable pore size and simple surface functionalization. The objective behind the present research is to synthesize and profile piperine‐modified MSNs for their preparation due to antioxidative anticarcinogenic, anti‐inflammatory properties of the alkaloid chosen as a modifier. In the study, silica piperine nanoparticles (SPN) were fabricated based on a modified Stöber method. Characterization techniques including SEM, TEM, AFM, FTIR, XRD, and DSC showed significant differences of incorporated piperine in the production process to plain MSN properties. Piperine was observed to inhibit nanoparticles’ growth so that they became smaller, heterogeneous, with a changed morphology and surface chemistry. As a strong confirmation of covalent incorporation, spectroscopic data showed the presence of electrons in the piperine's functional group that were exchanged into some silanol groups and removed excessive surface energy. The antioxidant activity of SPNs revealed that the silica matrix, and moreover bioactive piperine combination resulted to significant increase in enhanced antioxidant potential. In general, the results of this study offer meaningful lessons about the utilization and manipulation of piperine to suit MSN in a bid to optimize them for biomedical uses such as drug delivery applications where its antioxidant characteristics may bring therapeutic benefits. This holistic characterization and standardization of piperine‐modified MSNs sets the solid stage for further project practice and advance adjustment in aluminosilicate nanostructures designed for biomedical application. Development of novel abrasive systems with functional activities and physicochemical properties are of great significance in the reactive oxygen species (ROS)-enhanced chemical mechanical polishing. In this work, Ce single-doped and Ce/Cu co-doped dendritic mesoporous silica nanoparticles (DMSNs), namely Ce−DMSNs and Ce/Cu−DMSNs, were produced via a simple impregnation and thermolysis procedure. The Ce and/or Cu species involved in DMSNs frameworks were characterized through X-ray diffractometry, infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectrometry, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and nitrogen adsorption/desorption techniques. We report the evolution of surface morphology and roughness, defects, peak-to-valley data, image surface area difference, and material removal efficiency during ROS-enhanced polishing experiments toward silica materials. All the pure, Ce single-doped, and Ce/Cu co-doped DMSNs abrasive systems offered nearly defect-free surfaces with close-to-atom scale roughness. It might be attributed to the "springlike effect" and "soft polishing/abrasion", possibly originating from the low-modulus DMSNs carriers. Among these abrasives, the Ce/Cu co-doped DMSNs systems achieved an evident improvement in removal efficiency, especially under ultraviolet irradiation-assisted polishing conditions. The coexisted Ce(Ⅲ)/Ce(Ⅳ) and Cu(Ⅰ)/Cu(Ⅱ) couples might be responsible for the effective production of ROS in photocatalysis and Fenton-like processes, thereby contributing to the Si–OH and Ce(Ⅲ)−O–Si bonding formations. However, silica nanoparticles synthesized by liquid phase easily aggregate and pore collapse because of their high surface activity and polarity, leading to poorer dispersity and limited practicability. In this paper, a novel hydrophobic silica with a hyperbranched structure was designed through in-situ modifying method with hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS) and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) in the liquid phase. The trimethylsilanol generated by HMDS hydrolysis reacts quickly with the highly active hydroxyl groups on the silica, causing the surface properties of the nanoparticles to transform from polar to non-polar properties. The steric hindrance of the trimethyl silicon and the reduction of the surface polarity effectively prevent silica pores from collapsing and maintain the macropore structures to realize the hyperbranched silica. At the same time, the −Si (CH 3) 2 − from PDMS endowed the hyperbranched silica with excellent hydrophobicity. When applied in the defoaming agent, the hydrophobicity of silica contributes to dewetting the foams, and the hyperbranched spatial structures play an enhanced needling effect. Therefore, this hydrophobic hyperbranched silica exhibited a surprising defoaming effect, which significantly reduced the defoaming time from 464.4 s to less than 2 s, superior to commercial defoaming silica (155.3 s). The defoaming efficiency reached 100 % within 2 s of the end of the shaking, and the defoamer antifoaming ability was improved to reach 27.5 min, which was 77 % higher than that of commercial defoamer. Silicon carbide (SiC) is a multifunctional material with a myriad of potential applications, from high-power electronics to friction applications to power generation. Grafting preceramic polymers (PCPs) from SiC nanoparticles would create a platform for forming SiC via a polymer derived route that would have advantages over simple particle-PCP slurries and may enable new additive manufacturing inks or spreadable coatings with controlled rheology. Grafting PCPs directly on SiC powders would greatly improve dispersion of these particles and yield a single component system. Moreover, PCP-grafted-SiC would be a new addition to the burgeoning field of polymer grafted nanoparticles (PGNPs). Herein, SiC nanoparticles were surface-modified in a grafting-from polymerization reaction to create polycarbosilane (PCS) grafted SiC. Surface grafting was verified through a number of analytical techniques and the synthesized materials were pyrolyzed at 1600 °C. The PCS-grafted SiC retained 66 % of its pre-pyrolysis mass, representing a significant improvement over PCS-grafted silica nanoparticles from our previous work (20 wt% yield). In addition to an increased ceramic yield, the grafting of PCS to SiC also resulted in the formation of a SiC phase not present in the simple physical mixture of SiC nanopowder in PCS. This study demonstrated that PCP-grafted nanoparticles (GNPs) can be synthesized utilizing non-oxide nanoparticle cores with desirable rheology, opening possibilities for future ceramic inks and coatings. AbstractSilica nanoparticles are increasingly considered for drug delivery applications. These applications require an understanding of their biocompatibility, including their interactions with the immune system. However, systematic studies for silica nanoparticle immunological safety profiles are lacking. To fill this gap, we conducted an in vitro study investigating various aspects of silica nanoparticles’ interactions with blood and immune cells. Four types of silica nanoparticles with variations in size and porosity were studied. These included nonporous Stöber silica nanoparticles with average diameters of approximately 50 and 100 nm (SNP50 and SNP100), mesoporous silica nanoparticles of approximately 100 nm (Meso100), and hollow mesoporous silica nanoparticles of approximately 100 nm (HMSNP100) in diameter, respectively. The hematological compatibility was assessed using hemolysis, complement activation, platelet aggregation, and plasma coagulation assays. The effects of nanoparticles on immune cell function were studied using in vitro phagocytosis, chemotaxis, natural killer cell cytotoxicity, leukocyte proliferation, human lymphocyte activation, colony-forming unit granulocyte-macrophage, and leukocyte procoagulant activity assays. The in vitro findings suggest that at high concentrations, corresponding to the in vivo human dose of 40 mg/kg, silica nanoparticles demonstrated an array of immunotoxic effects that depended on their physicochemical properties. However, all types of silica nanoparticles studied were not immunotoxic at concentrations corresponding to lower doses (≤ 8 mg/kg) comparable to that of nanocarriers in other nanomedicines currently used in the clinic. Highlights Incorporating inorganic particles is a common approach to preparing polymeric materials with desirable physical properties and processability. However, this often results in increased brittleness, necessitating methods to improve melt strength and toughness. In this study, in situ polymerization was employed to functionalize silica nanoparticles with the silane coupling agent (3‐aminopropyl) triethoxysilane (APTES) as a core. A flexible chain segment, poly(butylene itaconate) (PBI), was then introduced as a “rubbery” intermediate layer, resulting in a core‐shell structure of poly(L‐lactic‐co‐butanediol itaconate) nano‐silica copolymer films (PLBISiO2) with both branched and “rubbery” structures. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) confirmed the formation of macromolecular chains, with the molecular weight (Mn) of PLBI increasing from 59,638 to 74,306 g/mol. This significant increase supports the “rubbery” core‐shell structure. When 0.5% SiO2 was added, the T5% of the film increased by 40°C, significantly improving thermal stability. Additionally, the elongation at break increased to 265.7%, while retaining the original tensile strength. Dynamic rheology experiments further confirmed the generation of branched or “rubbery” core‐shell structures, and a doubling of gas barrier properties was observed with increased silica nanoparticles, suggesting potential applications in food packaging or biopharmaceuticals. New magnetic yolk-shell mesoporous silica nanoparticles (Fe3O4@V-mSiO2-PNVCL) were prepared by grafting temperature-sensitive amino-terminated poly (N-vinylcaprolactam) (PNVCL-NH2) on the surface of aldehyde-functionalized magnetic mesoporous silica nanoparticles (Fe3O4@V-mSiO2-CHO) through a Schiff base reaction. Various characterizations were used to confirm the structures, and the drug loading and release behaviors were studied. The drug loading was achieved as PNVCL stretched at room temperature and the drug loading content was up to 54.7% due to the large cavities. The encapsulation of drug from leakage in the blood environment was realized as PNVCL collapsed at physiological temperature. The fracture of pH-liable imine bonds in a slightly acidic tumor environment triggered the burst release of cargo. The Fe3O4@V-mSiO2-PNVCL showed super paramagnetic behavior (21.01 emu∙g−1) which could achieve magnetic targeting. The MTT assay confirmed that the nanoparticles exhibited low cytotoxicity. Furthermore, the cellular uptake experiments indicated that DOX-loaded nanoparticles were successfully internalized into cancer cells. This study presents the development of multifunctional protective clothing for disabled individuals using PBAT/PLA biopolymeric-based electrospun nanofibrous membranes. The fabric consists of a superhydrophobic electrospun nanofibrous cloth reinforced with silica nanoparticles. The resulting nanofiber membranes were characterized using FE-SEM, a CA goniometer, breathability and hydrostatic pressure resistance tests, UV–vis spectroscopy, thermal infrared photography, tensile tests, and nanoindentation. The results demonstrated the integration of superhydrophobicity, breathability, and mechanical improvements in the protective clothing. The nanofibrous porous structure of the fabric allowed breathability, while the silica nanoparticles acted as an effective infrared reflector to keep the wearer cool on hot days. The fabric's multifunctional properties make it suitable for various products, such as outdoor clothing and accessories for individuals with disabilities. This study highlights the importance of selecting appropriate textiles for protective clothing and the challenges faced by disabled individuals in terms of mobility, eating, and dressing. Intravitreal injection of biodegradable implant drug carriers shows promise in reducing the injection frequency for neovascular retinal diseases. However, current intravitreal ocular devices have limitations in adjusting drug release rates for individual patients, thereby affecting treatment effectiveness. Accordingly, we developed mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) featuring a surface that reverse its charge in response to reactive oxygen species (ROS) for efficient delivery of humanin peptide (HN) to retinal epithelial cells (ARPE-19). The MSN core, designed with a pore size of 2.8 nm, ensures a high HN loading capacity 64.4% (w /w). We fine-tuned the external surface of the MSNs by incorporating 20% Acetyl-L-arginine (Ar) to create a partial positive charge, while 80% conjugated thioketal (TK) methoxy polyethylene glycol (mPEG) act as ROS gatekeeper. Ex vivo experiments using bovine eyes revealed the immobilization of Ar-MSNs-TK-PEG (mean zeta potential: 2 mV) in the negatively charged vitreous. However, oxidative stress reversed the surface charge to −25 mV by mPEG loss, facilitating the diffusion of the nanoparticles impeded with HN. In vitro studies showed that ARPE-19 cells effectively internalize HN-loaded Ar-MSNs-TK, subsequently releasing the peptide, which offered protection against oxidative stress-induced apoptosis, as evidenced by reduced TUNEL and caspase3 activation. The inhibition of retinal neovascularization was further validated in an in vivo oxygen-induced retinopathy (OIR) mouse model. Cigarette beetles Lasioderma serricorne (Fabricius, 1792) and saw-toothed grain beetles Oryzaephilus surinamensis (Linnaeus, 1758) are considered serious stored grain pests. Developing silica nanoparticles (SNs) coated with the most effective and persistent photosensitizer is a viable alternative to current synthetic chemical pesticides. Chemical characterization confirmed the conjugation process between SNs and rose bengal (RB) and formation of SNs photosensitizer rose bengal (SNP-RB). Additionally, bioassays were performed to determine the impact of the median-lethal concentration (LC50) of the three substances against pests. The corresponding LC50 values against L. serricorne and O. surinamensis were 5.14, 20.32, 50.60 and 9.79, 28.93, 106.29 for SNP-RB, SNs and RB respectively. Therefore, the toxicity of these tested compounds after three hours of sun light exposure could be descendingly arranged in order as follows: SNP-RB, SNs and RB. The relative percentages of mineral contents were detected in the whole body tissue of L. serricorne and revealed the existence of nine elements in untreated adults, 11 elements in adults treated with RB as well as nine elements in adults treated with SNP-RB. Silicon was the least abundant element in both controls as well as adults treated with SNP-RB, Sulphur was the least abundant element in adults treated with RB and carbon was detected as the most abundant element in all treatments. Considering O. surinamesis, ten elements existed in untreated adults, 11 elements in adults treated with RB, whereas ten elements were found in adults treated with SNP-RB. Numerous nanomedicines have been developed recently that can accumulate selectively in tumours due to the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect. However, the high interstitial fluid pressure (IFP) in solid tumours limits the targeted delivery of nanomedicines. We were previously able to relieve intra-tumoural IFP by low-frequency non-focused ultrasound (LFNFU) through ultrasonic targeted microbubble destruction (UTMD), improving the targeted delivery of FITC-dextran. However, the accumulation of nanoparticles of different sizes and the optimal acoustic pressure were not evaluated. In this study, we synthesised Cy5.5-conjugated mesoporous silica nanoparticles (Cy5.5-MSNs) of different sizes using a one-pot method. The Cy5.5-MSNs exhibited excellent stability and biosafety regardless of size. MCF7 tumour-bearing mice were subjected to UTMD over a range of acoustic pressures (0.5, 0.8, 1.5 and 2.0 MPa), and injected intravenously with Cy5.5-MSNs. Blood perfusion, tumour IFP and intra-tumoural accumulation of Cy5.5-MSNs were analysed. Blood perfusion and IFP initially rose, and then declined, as acoustic pressure intensified. Furthermore, UTMD significantly enhanced the accumulation of differentially sized Cy5.5-MSNs in tumour tissues compared to that of the control group, and the increase was sevenfold higher at an acoustic pressure of 1.5 MPa. Taken together, UTMD enhanced the infiltration and accumulation of Cy5.5-MSNs of different sizes in solid tumours by reducing intra-tumour IFP. Research into leveraging nanomaterials to enhance building material performance has shown significant progress in recent decades. Silica nanoparticles (SiO2), a prevalent chemical element in ceramics, glass, sand, cement, and binders, have been a focus. This study delved into the impact of varying nanosilica (NS) percentages (ranging from 0 to 2.5% of LRP weight) on lime-based pastes for roofs and screeds (LRP), commonly used in building insulation. Specimens underwent demolding after 48 h, with 75% treated at 40, 60, and 80 °C for 7 h and then cured at room temperature for 3, 7, and 28 days. Analysis revealed that SiO2 and CaO in LRP transformed into calcium silicate and calcium carbonate during hydration. The addition of NS notably enhanced compressive strength by facilitating calcium silicate formation and reducing pore structures, with the best results at 40 °C. Thermogravimetric analysis indicated a significant weight loss reduction (2.3 times less) in samples with 2.5% NS content compared to those without. Optimal NS content percentages of 1.5% and 2.5%, replacing LRP at water/binder ratios of 0.6 and 0.75, respectively, were identified based on tensile and compressive strengths and desirable flowability. Ion exchange membranes were fabricated using a phase inversion technique based on polyvinyl chloride nanocomposites. Subsequently, electrodialysis membranes were modified by the addition of [SiO2-co-Ag] nanoparticles using magnetron sputtering. The impact of varying concentrations of [SiO2-co-Ag] nanoparticles on the performance of mixed-matrix poly (vinyl chloride)-based nanoparticle cation exchange membranes was studied. Various techniques, including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and scanning optical microscopy (SOM) confirmed the presence of nanoparticles in the structure of membranes. The SEM images showed that the addition of SiO2-co-Ag nanoparticles resulted in a more compact structure for the modified membranes. The SOM images show that the fabricated membranes had a uniform surface and uniform distribution of SiO2-Ag in the membrane matrix. The AFM images revealed that the modified membranes had a rough surface at high additive concentrations (4.0% wt.) and cross-sectional SEM images confirmed that the addition of nanoparticles created cracks and cavities in the membrane structure. The hydrophilicity of silica and silver nanoparticles increased the surface hydrophilicity of the modified membranes. The membrane potential, permselectivity, and transport number showed fluctuations, decreasing initially with the use of SiO2-co-Ag nanoparticles up to a concentration of 1.0% wt and then increasing with an increase in the concentration of nanoparticles to 2.0% wt before declining again for a concentration of 4.0% wt. The flux and ionic permeability were promoted by the addition of SiO2-co-Ag up to 1.0% wt, but after that, they showed a decreasing trend with an increase in the concentration of nanoparticles. The areal electrical resistance of the prepared membrane dramatically declined with an increase in the concentration of SiO2-Ag. Importantly, the application of these membranes was in electrodialysis, and the use of also enhanced the mechanical resistance of the membranes. Furthermore, the fabricated membranes exhibited a good ability to remove E. coli from water. In this research, magnetic mesoporous silica nanoparticles decorated with SnO2 quantum dots (M‐MSNs/SnO2[QDs]) were successfully synthesized and characterized using several advanced techniques including FT‐IR, XRD, FE‐SEM, EDS, elemental mapping, VSM, and BET. This study demonstrates the synthesis of benzo[a]pyrano[3,2‐c]phenazine derivatives via a four‐component reaction between 2‐hydroxy‐1,4‐naphthoquinone, ortho‐phenylenediamine, malononitrile, and benzaldehyde derivatives in the presence of M‐MSNs/SnO2(QDs) in ethanol as a green solvent. The proposed catalyst efficiently catalyzed the synthesis of these compounds with yields of 87–96% in 70–100 minutes. The presented method offers a cost‐effective and environmentally friendly approach with numerous advantages, including high product yields, simple operation, short reaction times, low‐cost purification, and facile catalyst recovery. This work includes the preparation of Fe3O4 NPs coated with mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs). The combination between two different materials could improve the removal efficiency of pollutants from wastewater. The surface modification of magnetic nanoparticles could reduce the agglomeration. The Fe3O4-MSNs surface was modified with aspartic acid liked with the adsorbent surface via hydrophobic linker (1,4-phenylene diisothiocyanate, PDITC) to effectively remove the methylene blue (MB) dye from the contaminated water. The particles size was ranged between 110 and 160 nm, as estimated by SEM and TEM. The surface zeta potential of the surface was found to be negatively at pH above 2.5. The nanosorbent efficiency was evaluated at different conditions such as pH, contact time and initial MB concentration. The maximum adsorbed amount of the MB was estimated to be 135 mg/g at 200 mg/L MB concentration and 80 min contact time. Mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) are physically and chemically stable inorganic nanomaterials that have been attracting much attention as carriers for drug delivery systems in the field of nanomedicine. In the present study, we investigated the potential of MSN vaccines that incorporate antigen peptides for use in cancer immunotherapy. In vitro experiments demonstrated that fluorescently labeled MSNs accumulated in a line of mouse dendritic cells (DC2.4 cells), where the particles localized to the cytosol. These observations could suggest that MSNs have potential for use in delivering the loaded molecules into antigen-presenting cells, thereby stimulating the host acquired immune system. In vivo experiments demonstrated prolonged survival in mice implanted with ovalbumin (OVA)-expressing lymphoma cells (E.G7-OVA cells) following subcutaneous inoculation with MSNs incorporating OVA antigen peptides. Furthermore, OVA-specific immunoglobulin G antibodies and cytotoxic T lymphocytes were detected in the serum and the spleen cells, respectively, of mice inoculated with an MSN-OVA vaccine, indicating the induction of antigen-specific responses in both the humoral and cellular immune systems. Ciprofloxacin (CIPH) was classified as one of the most effective quinolone antibiotics, which is commonly used to cure a wide range of infections resulting from Gram-negative and Gram-positive microorganisms. The complexes which formed due to the interaction of Ni(II), Zn(II), Cu(II), Gd(III) and Sm(III) with ciprofloxacin were characterized by CHN% analysis, conductivity, FTIR, electronic spectra, fluorescence measurements, and magnetic susceptibility, besides studying the complex–DNA interaction. Meanwhile, the molar conductance values (0.001 mol·L−1 in DMSO) revealed the electrolytic behavior of the complexes and could be designated with the A−B+ formula. In addition, the geometry of the compounds was confirmed from the electronic transitions as well as the μeff values as octahedral for all complexes. The postulated formula could be generally assigned as [M(CIP)a(CIPH)b(H2O)c](NO3)(H2O)n(C2H5OH)m. Moreover, the interaction between metal complexes and DNA revealed that the Cu complex had the highest binding constant. Nanotechnology was applied to synthesized compounds using silica nanoparticles (SiNPs), which were prepared using a sol–gel process. The silica nanoparticles were chemically functionalized for binding the ligand and its metal complexes; this enables the as-prepared compounds to enhance their features as a drug delivery platform. Meanwhile, the antimicrobial activity was tested for the free complexes and SiNPs composites. Collectively, Sm complex gave the largest zone of inhibition, while the Cu(II)–SiNPs composite showed the strongest potential to reduce the bacterial activity. Salt stress significantly reduces rice yield and quality and is a global challenge, especially in arid and semi-arid regions with limited freshwater resources. The present study was therefore conducted to examine the potential of silica nanoparticles (SiO2 NPs) in mitigating the adverse effects of saline irrigation water in salt-tolerant rice. Two salt-tolerant rice varieties, i.e., Y liangyou 957 (YLY957) and Jingliangyou 534 (JLY534), were irrigated with 0.6% salt solution to simulate high-salt stress and two SiO2 NPs were applied, i.e., control (CK) and SiO2 NPs (15 kg hm−2). The results demonstrated that the application of SiO2 NPs increased, by 33.3% and 23.3%, the yield of YLY957 and JLY534, respectively, compared with CK, which was primarily attributed to an increase in the number of grains per panicle and the grain-filling rate. Furthermore, the application of SiO2 NPs resulted in a notable enhancement in the chlorophyll content, leaf area index, and dry matter accumulation, accompanied by a pronounced stimulation of root system growth and development. Additionally, the SiO2 NPs also improved the antioxidant enzyme activities, i.e., superoxide dismutase, peroxidase, and catalase activity and reduced the malondialdehyde content. The SiO2 NPs treatment effectively improved the processing quality, appearance quality, and taste quality of the rice. Furthermore, the SiO2 NPs resulted in improvements to the rapid viscosity analyzer (RVA) pasting profile, including an increase in peak viscosity and breakdown values and a reduction in setback viscosity. The application of SiO2 NPs also resulted in a reduction in crystallinity and pasting temperature owing to a reduction in the proportion of B2 + B3 amylopectin chains. Chemotherapeutic drug delivery systems are commonly limited by their short half-lives, poor bioavailability, and unsuccessful targetability. Herein, pH-responsive hybrid NPs consist of benzimidazole-coated mesoporous silica nanoparticles (BZ-MSN) loaded with naturally occurring flavonoid quercetin (QUE-BZ-MSN). The NPs were further capped with beta-cyclodextrin (BCD) to obtain our desired BCD-QUE-BZMSN, with a zeta potential around 7.05 ± 2.37 mV and diameter about 115.2 ± 19.02 nm. The abundance of BZ onto the nanoparticles facilitates targeted quercetin chemotherapy against model lung and liver cancer cell lines. FTIR, EDX, and NMR analyses revealed evidence of possible surface functionalizations. Powder XRD analysis showed that our designed BCD-QUE-BZMSN formulation is amorphous in nature. The UV and SEM showed that our designed BCD-QUE-BZMSN has high drug entrapment efficiency and a nearly spherical morphology. In vitro, drug release assessments show controlled pH-dependent release profiles that could enhance the targeted chemotherapeutic response against mildly acidic regions in cancer cell lines. The obtained BCD-QUE-BZMSN nanovalve achieved significantly higher cytotoxic efficacy as compared to QUE alone, which was evaluated by in vitro cellular uptake against liver and lung cancer cell lines, and the cellular morphological ablation was further confirmed via inverted microscopy. Cigarette beetles Lasioderma serricorne (Fabricius, 1792) and saw-toothed grain beetles Oryzaephilus surinamensis (Linnaeus, 1758) are considered serious stored grain pests. Developing silica nanoparticles (SNs) coated with the most effective and persistent photosensitizer is a viable alternative to current synthetic chemical pesticides. Chemical characterization confirmed the conjugation process between SNs and rose bengal (RB) and formation of SNs photosensitizer rose bengal (SNP-RB). Additionally, bioassays were performed to determine the impact of the median-lethal concentration (LC50) of the three substances against pests. The corresponding LC50 values against L. serricorne and O. surinamensis were 5.14, 20.32, 50.60 and 9.79, 28.93, 106.29 for SNP-RB, SNs and RB respectively. Therefore, the toxicity of these tested compounds after three hours of sun light exposure could be descendingly arranged in order as follows: SNP-RB, SNs and RB. The relative percentages of mineral contents were detected in the whole body tissue of L. serricorne and revealed the existence of nine elements in untreated adults, 11 elements in adults treated with RB as well as nine elements in adults treated with SNP-RB. Silicon was the least abundant element in both controls as well as adults treated with SNP-RB, Sulphur was the least abundant element in adults treated with RB and carbon was detected as the most abundant element in all treatments. Considering O. surinamesis, ten elements existed in untreated adults, 11 elements in adults treated with RB, whereas ten elements were found in adults treated with SNP-RB. Due to the amphiphilic nature of phospholipids in the cell membrane, the amphipathicity of the nanomedicine plays a crucial role in the endocytosis. However, limited biological characterization methods restrict the study of the state of nanoparticles with different amphiphilicities on cell membranes. The understanding of interaction of amphiphilic particle with cell membrane is still lacking. Herein, by combining the dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) with the framework construction of mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs), we demonstrate the enhanced endocytosis induced by the hydrophobicity. DPD results confirm that the presence of hydrophobic groups on the surface of nanoparticles can disturb the integrity of 1-palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (POPC) membrane and induce activation of phospholipids to a higher energy level, thereby facilitating the wrapping of nanoparticles. To validate the simulation findings, uniform MSNs with hydrophilic pure silica framework and two types of amphiphilic MSNs with varying hydrophilic organic groups in the framework are rationally synthesized by using different silane precursors. The obtained three kinds of MSNs show similar diameter (~ 100 nm) and mesopores (~ 2 nm), but distinct hydrophobicity/hydrophilicity ratio. The phenyl-bridged MSN with a carbon content of 27.1% exhibits enhanced cellular uptake, consistent with the theoretical simulation results. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are widely used in antimicrobial applications. However, its easy aggregation and rapid loss hinder the effective antifouling. To address this issue, a novel stimuli-responsive antibacterial nanocomposite (Ag@SP-MSN) was developed based on spiropyran covalently conjugated mesoporous silica nanoparticles (284.6 nm) and AgNPs (27.1 nm) via strong electrostatic attraction. Both transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) images proved the successful modification of AgNPs onto SP-MSN. The light-induced maximum loading amount towards AgNPs was calculated to be 95.0 wt.% after ultraviolet irradiation, while the amount of AgNPs released from Ag@SP-MSN was 94.4 wt.% under visible light in the aid of ammonia (0.1%, v/v). Upon cycled light irradiation, Ag@SP-MSN could recover 84.5 wt.% of AgNPs even after four cycles. The proposed Ag@SP-MSN exhibited better antibacterial activity against both E. coli and S. aureus than Ag@MSN under visible light illumination, indicating the efficient photo-responsive isomerization of spiropyran. Furthermore, the Ag@SP-MSN embedded gel demonstrated outstanding antifouling ability even after 21 days when compared to AgNPs gel. The long-term photo-controllable antifouling property proved the excellent reversible absorption and release of Ag@SP-MSN towards AgNPs. Energy efficiency is a global need to decrease net emissions and optimise the use of renewable energy sources. Ongoing research focuses on optimizing the use of renewable energy resources to maximize their consumption. Fuel cells, which utilise water to generate electricity, are among these renewable energy resources. Nevertheless, as previously said, there is ongoing research focused on optimising the synthesis of hydrogen and the extraction of voltage and current. In this study, we present the utilisation of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) in the extraction of hydrogen and silica nanoparticles for the enhancement of power values. The experiment clearly demonstrates that using a 50% NaOH solution resulted in the production of about 5.602 litres of hydrogen gas. Furthermore, the molar percentage of hydrogen in the final product was determined to be 85.74%. The gas chromatography analysis findings indicate that the product contains 81.58% hydrogen, 11.62% nitrogen, and 0.04% carbon dioxide. The electrical efficiency achieved is 86% with a heat loss of 13.96%. In addition, the research included the introduction of silica nanoparticles into the water. It was noted that this led to an increase in power density when the relative humidity was about 70%. The study also revealed that these nanoparticles had the potential to boost fuel cell performance. There is an increasing demand for superhydrophobic surfaces due to their unique properties like self-cleaning, anti-icing, corrosion resistance, etc. The development of polyurethane (PU)-based superhydrophobic coating has garnered significant attention for aircraft applications. Polyurethane (PU) topcoat is widely used in aircraft and is hydrophilic in nature with a water contact angle (WCA) of 75 ± 3°. In the present work, a hydrophilic PU clear coat on aircraft-grade aluminum substrate is transformed to a superhydrophobic (SHP) surface by spraying environmentally friendly hydrophobically modified silica nanoparticles (HSiNps) oonto a PU layer that was partially cured in a hot air oven at 60°C for 1.5 h. The SHP surface exhibited a WCA of 162 ± 3° and a sliding angle (SA) of 8 ± 3°. With the incorporation of HSiNps, micro – nano dual-scale surface roughness is created and the surface roughness of the PU coating is increased from 0.35 to 2.42 µm. The coating exhibits good adhesion (5B) with excellent water repelling property and remains thermally stable and superhydrophobic even after subjecting it to 100°C for one week. Durability of the coatings is studied by immersing the coatings in various liquids. The retention of superhydrophobic property after anti-fogging, water sprinkler, and sand paper abrasion tests further demonstrate the robustness of the coating. The incorporation of natural products into a suitable delivery system has the potential to augment their therapeutic effectiveness significantly. In this study, we demonstrate how silicasomes, a lipid‐coated mesoporous silica nanorods, influence the anticancer potency and release behaviour of the natural product. Piperlongumine (Pip), a natural product isolated from long pepper, is loaded into mesoporous silica nanorods (MSNRs) followed by a bilayer coating made of 1,2‐Dimyristoyl‐sn‐glycero‐3‐phosphocholine (DMPC). The size and morphology of Pip‐loaded MSNRs (Pip@MSNRs) and phospholipid‐coated Pip@MSNRs (PL‐Pip@MSNRs) are characterized well using suitable analytical techniques. The release of Pip from Pip@MSNRs attained saturation at 48 h while PL‐Pip@MSNRs exhibited the same only after 100 h in both simulated physiological and endolysosomal acidic environments. Moreover, PL‐Pip@MSNRs displayed a higher percentage of Pip release in an acidic medium than in a physiological medium after 24 h. These results confirm that the DMPC coating could assist the pH‐responsive and sustained release of loaded drug from silica nanorods. Most importantly, PL‐Pip@MSNRs demonstrate a higher potency of cytotoxicity and apoptosis against MCF‐7 (Human Breast Carcinoma) cells than the Pip@MSNRs, emphasizing the significance of DMPC‐coated MSNRs as a suitable nanocarrier for natural product delivery. Converting carbon dioxide into formic acid with formate dehydrogenase (FDH) as a catalyst is a gentle and eco‐friendly process that not only conserves energy and reduces emissions but transforms waste into valuable resource. Enzyme immobilization is a common strategy for improving the stability and recyclability of enzyme, however, the procedures are usually complicated that include surface modification and binding reactions in order to form reliable linkages. Co‐deposition of polydopamine (PDA) with polyethyleneimine (PEI) is a popular surface modification approach in versatile fields, but their co‐deposition with enzymes is rarely reported. Herein, one‐pot immobilization of FDH on SiO2 nanoparticles based on catechol chemistry was attempted for the first time with or without PEI, and the resultant immobilized enzymes, FDH/PDA/PEI‐SiO2 and FDH/PDA‐SiO2, were characterized, and the effects of the composition and deposition conditions on the catalytic performance were investigated. FDH/PDA‐SiO2 exhibited a higher apparent specific activity than FDH/PDA/PEI‐SiO2, which was separately 0.167 and 0.136 mM/h/mg. The activity recovery rate was 464% and 378% of that of free enzyme. After 5 cycles, their relative activity was 82.3% and 87.4%. Partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide is extensively utilized in enhanced oil recovery operations. However, its efficacy is compromised by mechanical degradation during transport through injection lines, valves, and reservoir, which leads to a reduction in the average molecular weight, diminishing the solution's viscosity and viscoelastic properties, critical for efficient oil displacement. In this investigation, we characterized the degree of mechanical degradation in HPAM solutions by evaluating shear and extensional rheological parameters preand post‐degradation. Mechanical degradation was induced by subjecting them to controlled flow through a valve featuring varying degrees of constriction and flow rates. Our results demonstrate a significant reduction in zero‐shear viscosity and high‐strain extensional viscosity of mechanically degraded solutions, with reductions of up to 64%. To mitigate this issue, we explored the incorporation of silica nanoparticles as a potential remedy for mechanical degradation. These nanoparticles strengthen the network structure of HPAM, thereby reducing its susceptibility to mechanical degradation. Our findings reveal that shear and extensional viscosities of mechanically degraded NPs‐HPAM solutions experienced only minimal reductions, dropping to 12% and 0%, respectively. This underscores the effectiveness of the nanoparticle‐enhanced HPAM solutions in preserving viscosity and viscoelasticity under mechanical stress, presenting a promising avenue for improving the robustness of EOR processes. A robust method for enhancing the dispersion and stabilization of small metal nanoparticles in heterogeneous catalysts is developed. It involves in situ complexation of palladium(II) by histidine, in water, prior to impregnation in fumed silica. TEM images show that the histidine facilitates dispersion of the Pd(II) into finer nanoscale particles (≈2 nm) uniformly distributed on the support, rather than the large clusters (≈5 nm) seen in the absence of histidine. After hydrogen reduction, assessments using CO chemisorption and propylene hydrogenation indicate that the coordinated histidine might obscure the active sites on the Pd particles. However, as histidine decomposes between 220 and 300 °C in air, these materials are treated at 225 °C in air for 48 h. Afterwards the Pd(II) particles remain the same size, but after hydrogen reduction, there is a 2.4‐fold increase in CO gas adsorption, indicative of an expanded Pd surface area. Furthermore, superior catalyst stability (activity >200 h) is observed during propylene hydrogenation at 250 °C. This is consistent with histidine use having generated widely spaced, uniformly small, Pd nanoparticles on the silica support which is expected to help prevent agglomeration (sintering) during catalysis. Radiotherapy (RT) is a widely used treatment with strong therapeutic effects, but overcoming challenges related to hypoxia-induced tumor resistance and ineffective antitumor immune responses is crucial for optimal outcomes. In this study, we developed a versatile nanosystem using mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs), R837, and a small quantity of manganese peroxide (Mn/ZnO2). The synthesized MSN@R837-Mn/ZnO2 nanoparticles exhibited precise tumor targeting and accumulation, controlled drug release under acidic conditions, and increased sensitivity in magnetic resonance imaging. These attributes collectively augmented the therapeutic efficacy of RT by alleviating hypoxia and immunosuppression. Tumor cells treated with RT combined with these nanoparticles displayed reduced oxidative stress, alleviated hypoxia, and normalized blood vessel formation. Notably, all mice in the RT + PD-1 + MSN@R837-Mn/ZnO2 group achieved complete tumor regression with extended survival. Safety assessments confirmed the absence of MSN@R837-Mn/ZnO2 toxicity, highlighting its potential as a promising approach with dual functionality for the diagnostic imaging and treatment of cancer. A concept to prepare a highly hydrophobic composite with self-healing properties has been designed and verified. The new material is based on a composite of a crystalline hydrophobic fluoro wax, synthesized from montan waxes and perfluoroethylene alcohols, combined with spherical silica nanoparticles equipped with a hydrophobic shell. Highly repellent layers were prepared using this combination of a hydrophobic crystalline wax and silica nanoparticles. The novel aspect of our concept was to prepare a ladder-like structure of the hydrophobic shell allowing the inclusion of a certain share of wax molecules. Wax molecules trapped in the hydrophobic structure during mixing are hindered from crystallizing; therefore, these molecules maintain a higher mobility compared to crystallized molecules. When a thin layer of the composite material is mechanically damaged, the mobile wax molecules can migrate and heal the defects to a certain extent. The general preparation of the composite is described and XRD analysis demonstrated that a certain share of wax molecules in the composite are hindered to crystallize. The interfacial dilational rheology of silica nanoparticles (NPs) directly reflects the relationship between surface structure and interfacial behaviors in NPs, which has attracted significant attention in various industrial fields. In this work, modified silica nanoparticles (MNPs) with various alkyl chain lengths were synthesized and systematically characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectra, Zeta potential, and water contact angle measurements. It was found that the MNPs were successfully fabricated with similar degrees of modification. Subsequently, the interfacial behaviors of the MNPs in an n-octane/water system were investigated through interfacial dilational rheological experiments. The length of the modified alkyl chain dominated the hydrophilic–lipophile balance and the interfacial activity of the MNPs, evaluated by the equilibrium interfacial tension (IFT) variation and dilational elasticity modulus. In the large amplitude compression experiment, the balance between the electrostatic repulsion and interfacial activity in the MNPs was responsible for their ordered interfacial arrangement. The MNPs with the hexyl alkyl chain (M6C) presented the optimal amphipathy and could partly overcome the repulsion, causing a dramatic change in surface pressure. This was further confirmed by the variations in IFT and dilational elasticity during the compression path. The stability of slurries used for chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) is a crucial concern in industrial chip production, influencing both the quality and cost-effectiveness of polishing fluids. In silicon wafer polishing, the conventional use of commercial neutral silica sol combined with organic bases often leads to slurry instability. To address this issue, this study proposes organic amines—specifically ethanolamine (MEA), ethylenediamine (EDA), and tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAOH)—as catalysts for synthesizing alkaline silica sol tailored for silicon wafer polishing fluids. Sol–gel experiments and zeta potential measurements demonstrate the efficacy of this approach in enhancing the stability of silica sol. The quantitative analysis of surface hydroxyl groups reveals a direct correlation between enhanced stability and increased hydroxyl content. The application of the alkaline silica sol in silicon wafer polishing fluids improves polishing rates and enhances surface flatness according to atomic force microscopy (AFM). In addition, electrochemical experiments validate the capability of this polishing solution to mitigate corrosion on silicon wafer surfaces. Noble metal nanoparticles decorated on a catalyst support with a large specific surface area can exhibit enhanced catalytic activity. To this end, a synthetic method to heterogeneously and evenly nucleate platinum nanoparticles (Pt NPs) onto mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) is developed. The obtained Pt NP-modified MSNs (Pt-MSNs) are characterized as a thin layer of 3 nm-sized Pt NPs densely assembled on the MSN surface, by which the throughput of the peroxidase-like activity of Pt-MSNs is greatly improved. The utility of Pt-MSNs in colorimetric detection of analytes is validated for two different assay schemes. Firstly, colloidally dispersed Pt-MSNs are employed as a peroxidase-mimic in a two-step cascade reaction to quantitate glucose/cholesterol based on the amount of H2O2 produced by glucose/cholesterol oxidase. Secondly, detection of C-reactive protein (CRP) is conducted on a solid substrate by adopting a sandwich immunoassay format. Objective Methods Results Conclusion This research investigates how particle parameters, such as zeta potential, size, functional group, material composition, and hydrophobicity affect their affinity and deposition of particles onto hair.Streaming potential was used as the technique for analysis. The streaming potential data obtained was then converted to surface coverage data. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was also done to visualize particle localization on the hair surface.This study found stronger particle affinity on healthy than on damaged (oxidatively bleached) hair, due to diminished interaction sites from the removal of the hair shaft's external lipid layer. SEM imaging supported these findings and offered insights into particle localization. Hydrophilic silica particles accumulated along the exposed hydrophilic cuticle edges of healthy hair, due to hydrogen bonding with the exposed endocuticle. This localization is hypothesized to be due to the limited hydrophilic binding sites on the hydrophobic healthy hair cuticle surface. In damaged hair, an abundance of hydrophilic sites across the cuticle surface results in more dispersed binding. Hydrogen bonding and electrostatic attraction were shown to be the predominant forces influencing deposition, with hydrophobic interactions playing a less influential role. The affinity studies also proved that electrostatic attractions work over a longer range and are more effective at lower particle conditions compared with hydrogen bonding which only start to play a bigger role at higher particle concentrations. Steric hindrance of bulky side groups acted as a significant repulsive force. Results also revealed that larger particles deposit poorly on both healthy and damaged hair compared with smaller ones. Compared with neutrally charged silica nanoparticles (SN‐2), positively charged PMMA particles (PN+16) have a stronger affinity to healthy hair, with highly charged particles (PN+49) depositing most rapidly.This study provides a fundamental understanding of how particle–surface parameters influence their affinity to hair and how damaging hair affects deposition. Background: Abiotic stresses, like drought, are the major cause of shrinking plant, growth crop yields and quality. Nanotechnology has provided a significant improvement in increasing plant growth and yield of crops under stress conditions. This work assessed the potential of silicon for mitigating the negative effects of drought against wheat. In completely randomized design with three replicates, wheat seedlings grown under three watering levels (100, 60 and 40% of water holding capacity) were treated by silicon dioxide (SiO2) as a normal or bulk form (Si) and SiO2 nanoparticles (SiNPs) with concentrations of 100 and 200 mg L−1. SiNPs was extracted from rice husk. Results: Si and SiNPs treatments are shown to improve the growth of plants and increase the shoots and root weight, relative water content, photosynthetic pigments, and proline in wheat. SiO2 either normal or nanoparticles at 100 mg L−1 decreased lipid peroxidation as malondialdehyde was reduced. Also, nano-silicon increased free amino acids, antioxidant enzymes while decreased soluble sugars. Cytotoxicity assay proved the safety of nano-silicon usage. Conclusions: In conclusion, the present study documented the significance of rice husk-extracted nano-silicon at rate of 100 mg L−1 for improving growth and increasing tolerance to drought in wheat grown under water deficit. Singlet oxygen is a powerful oxidant used in various applications, such as organic synthesis, medicine, and environmental remediation. Organic and inorganic photosensitizers are commonly used to generate this reactive species through energy transfer with the triplet ground state of oxygen. We describe here a series of novel benzophenazine derivatives as a promising class of photosensitizers for singlet oxygen photosensitization. In this study, we investigated the structure‐activity relationship of these benzophenazine derivatives. Akin to a molecular compass, the southern fragment was first functionalized with either aromatic tertiary amines, alkyl tertiary amines, aromatic sulfur groups, alkyl sulfur groups, or cyclic ethers. Enhanced photophysical properties (in terms of triplet excited‐state lifetime, absorption wavelength, triplet state energy, and O2 quenching capabilities) were obtained with cyclic ether and sulfur groups. Conversely, the presence of an amine moiety was detrimental to the photocatalysts. The western and northern fragments were also investigated and slightly undesirable to negligible changes in photophysical properties were observed. The most promising candidate was then immobilized on silica nanoparticles and its photoactivity was evaluated in the citronellol photooxidation reaction. A high NMR yield of 97 % in desired product was obtained, with only a slight decrease over several recycling runs (85 % in the fourth run). With breast cancer emerging as a pressing global health challenge, characterized by escalating incidence rates and geographical disparities, there is a critical need for innovative therapeutic strategies. This comprehensive research navigates the landscape of nanomedicine, specifically focusing on the potential of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs), with magnetite (Fe3O4) taking center stage. MNPs, encapsulated in biocompatible polymers like silica known as magnetic silica nanoparticles (MSN), are augmented with phosphotungstate (PTA) for enhanced chemodynamic therapy (CDT). PTA is recognized for its dual role as a natural chelator and electron shuttle, expediting electron transfer from ferric (Fe3+) to ferrous (Fe2+) ions within nanoparticles. Additionally, protein-based charge-reversal nanocarriers like silk sericin and gluten are introduced to encapsulate (MSN-PTA) nanoparticles, offering a dynamic facet to drug delivery systems for potential revolutionization of breast cancer therapy. This study successfully formulates and characterizes protein-coated nanocapsules, specifically MSN-PTA-SER, and MSN-PTA-GLU, with optimal physicochemical attributes for drug delivery applications. The careful optimization of sericin and gluten concentrations results in finely tuned nanoparticles, showcasing uniform size, enhanced negative zeta potential, and remarkable stability. Nanotechnology can contribute significantly to the aquaculture sector for a wide range of applications. In this study, silica nanoparticles were prepared from beach sand and characterized. The XRD pattern was obtained and confirms the crystalline nature of potassium aluminium silicate [K(AlSi3O8)], sodium silicate (Na2Si2O5), and silicon dioxide (SiO2). FTIR confirms that intense peaks at 445, 795, and 1036 cm−1 are characteristic of Si–O–Si stretching vibration. TEM micrograph of silica nanoparticles found a spherical morphology with an average size of 42 nm. In vitro anti-WSSV (white spot syndrome virus) activity was carried out using PmLyo-Sf9 cells by attachment inhibitory and virucidal activity; the optimum concentration was determined as 320 μg/mL. The interaction of silica nanoparticles and VP28 envelope protein was confirmed using in silico approach. The authors, actively engaged in the development of mesoporous silica‐based solutions, initially for modified drug release, later for the smart administration of conventional chemotherapeutic cytotoxic drugs, present the evolution of the concept of targeted therapy across different disciplines. They also discuss the diverse therapeutic needs and related challenges (adverse drug effects) that have unfolded over the last 30 years. Nanomedicine potentialities, mainly against cancers, that have emerged globally during the intense research activity of the last few decades, are critically discussed. The authors glimpse the growing potential of immune‐based therapeutic solutions, including those assisted by nanotechnology, as well as molecular targeted therapies (MTT) on which they focus. The advantages offered by targeted molecular therapies, despite the limits of monotargeted therapies, suggest the engineering of multi‐targeted therapies. Comprehensive Summary: Biological cells exhibit diverse phenomena induced through linking of chemical reactions of molecules and solid surface contact. It is then a significant topic in the field of chemistry to study phenomena induced through this linking using synthetic systems, which can promote our understanding of biological phenomena and can be applied to the development of novel functions. Silica nanoparticles (SNPs), which are synthetic inorganic materials, are attractive for such purposes, because of their following characteristics: they can adsorb large amounts of molecules on their surfaces, they can aggregate through contact between SNPs as well as contact between molecules and SNPs, and the molecules can be easily removed from solutions by precipitation. The contact of SNP surfaces with molecules then affects chemical reactions of molecules and also behaviors of SNPs. This article describes systems derived from synthetic helical molecules and SNPs, which exhibit notable phenomena including selective adsorption and molecular recognition, equilibrium shift, step kinetics with induction period, precipitation with flow and sweeping, and disaggregation and desorption by sonication, in which the high affinity of helical molecules with SNP surfaces plays important roles. Mechanistic models that explain the phenomena are provided. Possible applications are also discussed, including the separation of molecules, capture of intermediates, the storage and release of molecules, equilibrium shift, clocking, and the translation of mechanical stimulations into chemical reactions. Mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) are promising drug carriers for cancer therapy. Their functionalization with ligands for specific tissue/cell targeting and stimuli-responsive cap materials for sealing drugs within the pores of MSNs is extensively studied for biomedical and pharmaceutical applications. The objective of the present work was to establish MSNs as ideal nanocarriers of anticancer drugs such as 5-FU and silymarin by exploiting characteristics such as their large surface area, pore size, and biocompatibility. Furthermore, coating with various biopolymeric materials such as carboxymethyl chitosan–dopamine and hyaluronic acid–folic acid on their surface would allow them to play the role of ligands in the process of active targeting to tumor cells in which there is an overexpression of specific receptors for them. From the results obtained, it emerged, in fact, that these hybrid nanoparticles not only inhibit the growth of glioblastoma and breast cancer cells, but also act as pH-responsive release systems potentially useful as release vectors in tumor environments. Drought is a threat to food security and agricultural sustainability in arid and semi-arid countries. Using wasted silica nanoparticles could minimize water scarcity. A controlled study investigated wheat plant physiological and morphological growth under tap-water irrigation (80–100, 60–80, and 40–60% field capacity). The benefits of S1: 0%, S2: 5%, and S3: 10% nanoparticle silica soil additions were studied. Our research reveals that water stress damages the physiological and functional growth of wheat plants. Plant height decreased by 8.9%, grain yield by 5.4%, and biological yield by 19.2%. These effects were observed when plants were irrigated to 40–60% field capacity vs. control. In plants under substantial water stress (40–60% of field capacity), chlorophyll a (8.04 mg g−1), b (1.5 mg g−1), total chlorophyll (9.55 mg g−1), carotenoids (2.44 mg g−1), and relative water content (54%), Electrolyte leakage (59%), total soluble sugar (1.79 mg g−1 fw), and proline (80.3 mol g−1) were highest. Plants cultivated with silica nanoparticles exhibit better morphological and physiological growth than controls. The largest effect came from maximum silica nanoparticle loading. Silica nanoparticles may increase drought-stressed plant growth and production. This study investigates the impact of silica nanoparticles on the development of wheat plants experiencing water stress. Silica nanoparticles are essential for stimulating biochemical defenses against water stress, although research is limited. This study describes the synthesis and characterization of chlorambucil (CLB)-functionalized mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) for potential application in cancer therapy. The nanoparticles were designed with a diameter between 20 and 50 nm to optimize cellular uptake and avoid rapid clearance from the bloodstream. The synthesis method involved modifying a previously reported technique to reduce particle size. Successful functionalization with CLB was confirmed through various techniques, including Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and elemental analysis. The cytotoxicity of the CLB-functionalized nanoparticles (MSN@NH2-CLB) was evaluated against human lung adenocarcinoma cells (A549) and colon carcinoma cells (CT26WT). The results suggest significantly higher cytotoxicity of MSN@NH2-CLB compared to unbound CLB, with improved selectivity towards cancer cells over normal cells. In vitro cell activation through specific IgE bound to high-affinity receptors on the basophil surface is a widely used strategy for the evaluation of IgE-mediated immediate hypersensitivity reactions to betalactams. Cellular activation requires drug conjugation to a protein to form a large enough structure displaying a certain distance between haptens to allow the cross-linking of two IgE antibodies bound to the basophil's surface, triggering their degranulation. However, no information about the size and composition of these conjugates is available. Routine in vitro diagnosis using the basophil activation test uses free amoxicillin, which is assumed to conjugate to a carrier present in blood. To standardize the methodology, we propose the use of well-controlled and defined nanomaterials functionalized with amoxicilloyl. Silica nanoparticles decorated with PAMAM–dendrimer–amoxicilloyl conjugates (NpDeAXO) of different sizes and amoxicilloyl densities (50–300 µmol amoxicilloyl/gram nanoparticle) have been prepared and chemically characterized. Two methods of synthesis were performed to ensure reproducibility and stability. Their functional effect on basophils was measured using an in-house basophil activation test (BAT) that determines CD63+ or CD203chigh activation markers. It was observed that NpDeAXO nanocomposites are not only able to specifically activate basophils but also do so in a more effective way than free amoxicillin, pointing to a translational potential diagnosis.
