The relevance lies in the institutionalization of education in the new subjects of the Russian Federation (DPR, LPR, Zaporizhia, Kherson regions, the Republic of Crimea, the federal city of Sevastopol), as well as the processes of re-socialization, adaptation to the socio-cultural, political, value-ideological realities of Russian society, which affects the construction of the civic identity of school youth. Understanding the processes of formation of civic identity in the educational policy system in the context of the transformation of the political space allows identifying the mechanisms of actualization and transformation of identity. Тhe experience of the post-Soviet states, as well as the processes taking place in Russia today, enables making interesting theoretical generalizations and practical recommendations.Aim and Tasks. Identification and systematization of practices, mechanisms and technologies for the formation of civil identity of schoolchildren in new subjects in the educational policy system of the Russian Federation, determination of existing problems and barriers, identification of models of civil identity formation in the context of comparing the experience of Russia and the EAEU countries.Methods. The study uses a focus group interview with senior and middle school students living in the new territories of the Russian Federation, an expert interview with representatives of institutional structures involved in the processes of political socialization and implementation of identity policy, as well as the analysis of secondary data reflecting the processes of formation of civil identity in the EAEU countries.Results. As a result, the key practices of forming the civil identity of schoolchildren in the new subjects of the Russian Federation are revealed and systematized, barriers and problems of implementing educational policy in the system of forming civil identity are identified. The authors propose recommendations for improving the model of formation of the identity of schoolchildren in the new subjects of the Russian Federation. The article shows the difference between the model of formation of Russian civil identity in the new regions and the models of formation of civil identity used in the EAEU countries.Conclusions. The study revealed the existing contradictions that arise in the process of adaptation to a new educational and value-ideological model, manifested in the assimilation of new social norms and educational standards; the difference in the level of political education and the degree of involvement in civic activity of young people was noted. It is necessary to search for effective practices and technologies that contribute to building a consistent model of civic identity formation in the basic education system of new subjects of the Russian Federation. The EAEU member states can use the practical experience of civil identity formation in the education system of new subjects of the Russian Federation to improve their own models of civil identity formation.

Objectives The aim of the research was to the frequency of peer violence among adolescents aged 15-19 in the Chojnice District, taking into account its forms (physical, mental and assault), and to analysis the impact of gender and place of residence on the experience of this type of violence. Material and methods The research material was obtained using purposive sampling method to select study participants considering similar number of respondents in each group. The data collection tool was a survey questionnaire with closed- and open-ended questions. The questionnaire focused on the frequency of experiencing various forms of peer violence (physical, psychological), measured using a Likert scale, as well as perceptions of social support and available forms of help. Results Results indicate that the majority of respondents had never experienced peer assault, although a certain percentage of respondents reported single or multiple experiences. There were no statistically significant differences in experiences of violence between genders or place of residence. Physical violence also occurred among those surveyed, although there were no significant differences between the groups. In contrast, psychological violence was more common, particularly. Conclusions Given the results obtained, there is a need for further research on peer violence to better understand its causes, effects and effective prevention methods. Additionally, research suggests the need to implement education and intervention programs that would promote positive peer relationships and develop coping skills and empathy, particularly among groups most affected by violence.

Objective To investigate the prevalence and risk factors of e-cigarette smoking among school youths in China. Methods With stratified multistage cluster sampling, we conducted an online survey among 2 405 students aged 15 years and above from 35 high schools/vocational schools/colleges or universities in 13 China cities in 4 regions with different cultural characteristics (the north region, the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, and Southwest region) during September 2022 – March 2023. A questionnaire on e-cigarette use and its potential associates was compiled mainly based on Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS), Chinese Perceived Stress Scale (CPSS), and Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Checklist (ASLEC). ResultsAmong all the students surveyed, 6.36% (153) reported e-cigarette use, with 4.57% (110) and 1.79% (43) reporting ever use and current use of e-cigarette. The age at first e-cigarette use for the e-cigarette smokers was 15.92 ± 2.03 years and the number of peers on site of the students′ e-cigarette smoking was 2.10 ± 1.34. The results of unconditional multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed following risk factors for e-cigarette use: being male (odds ratio [OR] = 4.81, 95% confidence interval [95%CI]: 3.24 – 7.15), with higher stress score (OR = 1.63, 95%CI: 1.15 – 2.33), falling out of love during past six months (OR = 2.82, 95%CI: 1.89 – 4.21), losing a friend during past six months (OR = 1.67, 95%CI: 1.17 – 2.38), and having more pocket money (compared to less than 800 Chinese Yuan per month: OR800 – 1500 = 1.90, 95%CI: 1.23 – 2.95; OR > 1500 = 2.22, 95%CI: 1.44 – 3.41); while, living with married parents was a protective factor against e-cigarette use (OR = 0.44, 95%CI: 0.29 – 0.67). ConclusionThe prevalence of e-cigarette use is low and mainly influenced by gender, negative life events, amount of pocket money, and family relationship currently among school youths in China.

Objectives Practical classes in first aid held for young people attending schools, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, are a very popular form of non-compulsory classes, not included in the basic curriculum mandatory for all pupils. The teachers are eager to invite paramedics to schools as instructors running workshops in rescue techniques, terms of safe behaviour in the face of a threat and the correct way to call a Medical Rescue Team (MRT). Material and methods The study included 97 pupils from primary schools in Lubelskie Voivodeship. The study group were pupils from years 6 through 8 (aged 12-14). The training station was connected to a computer with the SkillReporter QCPR (Laerdal) software, which allowed controlling and archiving test results. Subsequently, each pupil provided CPR within the specific timeframe of 2 minutes (i.e. for the maximum of 120 seconds). Results The study included 97 pupils: 60 boys (61.9%) and 37 girls (38.1%). Age profile of the pupils: 12 years old (n=31), 13 years old (n=34) and 14 years old (n=32). 94 pupils completed the planned task fully (a 2-minute cycle of chest compressions on a training model). Three pupils ended the task after 102, 105 and 114 seconds out of the planned 120. Children who have a lower BMI much more frequently carried out CPR incorrectly as they compressed the chest too shallowly compared to children with higher BMI (rho = 0.216, p = 0.033). Conclusions The awareness and skills of schoolchildren in the field of first aid should be developed from the earliest possible moment. Children with a lower BMI value were characterized by significantly more frequent errors in CPR in terms of too shallow pressure performance than children with higher BMI values. There was no statistically significant influence of age group and gender on the quality of CPR performance.

The early ideological socialization of schoolchildren is manifested in their increasing involvement in political (including protest) activities. In Russia, school students’ involvement in political processes hasn’t been properly studied, despite similar studies being conducted abroad since the middle of the last century. Meanwhile, in the information age, the students’ political participation should be considered in close connection with the younger generation’s digital socialization carried out in online communities and social networks. In this regard, the purpose of this article is to raise the question of the methodology for studying what until recently seemed insignificant in the minds of schoolchildren: fully formed ideological attitudes influenced by the ideological language of new media. To solve this methodological problem, we need to clarify the concepts of political and ideological socialization projected on the school; formulate the problem of ideological acceleration of schoolchildren; methodologically substantiate the concept of ideological socialization and describe the environment of new media as the main “accelerator” of the schoolchildren’s ideological socialization. The authors note the need for a political study of the issue, using the achievements of interdisciplinary research in the fields of linguistics, cognitive science and ideologies. They propose an approach based on the theory of metaphorical framing (J. Lakoff) and the authors’ concept of cognitive ideological matrices. The authors emphasize that new media act as an intermediary in the formation of cognitiveideological matrices in the individual and group consciousness of schoolchildren, as well as a catalyst for earlier ideological socialization.

Poland’s youth are changing in a dynamic way, in short intervals, in various ways and in different social environments. This article presents the selected results of sociological research undertaken four times over the years 1988-2017 on nationwide samples of Poland’s youth attending secondary schools. It was conducted using a distributed questionnaire, meaning that we provided questionnaires to students who were present on a given day in classes at school. Youth religiosity was diagnosed according to several basic parameters: confessional and religious self-identification, young people’s attitudes towards the dogmas of the faith, and religious practices, both in static and dynamic cross-sections. The current status of the religiousity of secondary school youth and its transformation in 1988-2017 indicates accelerated processes of secularisation in Polish society. The thesis about the accelerated “secularisation creeping in” is becoming increasingly more legitimate.

Aim: The aim of the paper was to investigate the relationship between the level of the sense of meaning life and mental wellbeing as well as the fear of missing out in relation to gender, social class and family affluence. Method: The study used data from a pilot study conducted in Poland in 2017 before the main HBSC 2018 survey (Health Behaviour in School-aged Children). An anonymous survey was conducted in lower-secondary schools, in accordance with the international HBSC research protocol. The analyses were performed in a group of 539 students (46% of girls) attending grades 1–3 of lowersecondary schools (mean age 14.75 ± 0.99 years). The following tools were used in this research: Fear of Missing Out Scale (FOMO), Purpose in Life Test (PiL), Well-Being Index (WHO-5), and Family Affluence Scale (FAS). The results of univariate non-parametric analyses concerning the mean level of the above indices were presented. A generalised linear model for FOMO as a dependent variable was used with stepwise introduction of variables as a part of multivariate analysis. Results: Students with a high level of PiL showed a much higher life satisfaction and a lower level of FOMO than those with a low level of PiL. PiL increased in more affluent families. A significant correlation between PiL and FOMO was found in both genders, while a significant correlation between PiL and WHO-5 was shown only in girls. In the final model, only PiL was found to be a significant predictor of FOMO, while gender, grade, WHO-5 and FAS were rejected. Conclusions: Our study has some practical implications, such as how to avoid problematic social media use. Classes devoted to the meaning of life and the place in life should be organised.

Background. Obesity and cardiovascular disease and metabolic disorders are an increasingly common problem worldwide, also in the developmental age population. Inhibiting this process requires identifying risk factors that can be modified. Objective. The aim of the study was to identify the conditions of the occurrence of overweight and obesity in the Lodz youth at school age. Materials and methods. The survey was conducted in 2008-2012 among school students attending primary and secondary schools in the four districts of Lodz (city in Poland). The study involved 622 students aged 12-18: 309 girls (49.7%) and 313 boys (50.3%). The BMI index was calculated based on anthropometric measurements (mass, body height) and was interpreted on the basis of centile charts of Lodz children (overweight ≥ 85-95 centile; obese ≥ 95 centile). Youth health behaviors were analyzed based on a questionnaire of an original interview modeled on the HBSC (Health Behavior in School-aged Children) study. The obtained results were subjected to statistical analysis (single- and multi-factorial logistic regression analysis). Results. An excess of body weight was found in 23.5% of the examined youth. In multivariate logistic regression analysis, the factors significantly affecting the occurrence of overweight or obesity were: non-eating dinner (daily or sometimes, OR = 1.98); not eating fruit and vegetables every day (OR = 1.57), multi-hour passive relaxation time (use of TV, Internet, OR = 3.08) and low physical activity (OR = 1.76). Conclusions. Intensive promotion of a healthy lifestyle - increasing the awareness and knowledge of schoolchildren, encouraging proper eating habits and active leisure activities - can significantly affect the reduction of obesity risk factors. Health education is required at school for children, as well as for parents and teachers.

This paper presents a survey of beliefs of secondary school youth and higher education students about elderly persons. The survey objective was to assess youth's beliefs about the social functioning of elderly persons in the area of healthcare and social assistance, and to prepare practical recommendations for educational work aimed at counteracting negative stereotypes concerning elderly persons. The survey was conducted as part of a research project implemented under the auspices of the Committee for Pedagogical Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The survey encompassed 1084 persons, including 588 secondary school students and 496 higher education students. The survey was conducted using the diagnostic survey method and questionnaire technique in Poland between September 2018 and February 2019. The survey indicates that the secondary school youth and higher education students surveyed manifested varied beliefs about the functioning of elderly persons in the area of healthcare and social assistance, and that statistically significant differences occur between the groups surveyed with regard to the variables analyzed. While most of the youth surveyed did not manifest stereotypical beliefs about elderly persons, higher education students had more mature and well-thought-out views. Statistically significant differences occurred in certain aspects between the groups surveyed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

INTRODUCTION In 2003, the Philippines implemented legislation that prohibited the sale of tobacco products to youth, placed text warning labels on tobacco products, and prohibited tobacco smoking in public places. This study assessed if this legislation was associated with reduced cigarette smoking among youth. METHODS Data came from the 2000-2015 Philippines Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS), a nationally representative, cross-sectional survey of students aged 13- 15 years. GYTS data were used to determine associations between tobacco control legislation and current, past 30-day, current cigarette smoking (CCS). Logistic regression models were adjusted for age, sex, current other tobacco product use (COTPU), and price per cigarette stick (PPCS). RESULTS In the unadjusted model, the 2003 legislation was not associated with CCS (OR=0.77; 95% CI: 0.54-1.10). After adjusting for covariates, it was negatively associated (AOR=0.65; 95% CI: 0.53-0.80). Being 15 years old (OR=1.31; 95% CI: 1.08-1.58), male (OR=2.54; 95% CI: 2.17-2.98), and COTPU (OR=4.12; 95% CI: 3.47-4.91) were positively associated with CCS in unadjusted models. In adjusted models, being 14 years old (AOR=1.29; 95% CI: 1.08-1.53), 15 years old (AOR=1.55; 95% CI: 1.31-1.84), male (AOR=2.49; 95% CI: 2.13-2.91), and COTPU (AOR=3.96; 95% CI: 3.32-4.73), were associated with CCS. PPCS was not associated with CCS in either the unadjusted (OR=1.32; 95% CI: 0.82-2.11) or adjusted (AOR=1.32; 95% CI: 0.79-2.18) models. CONCLUSIONS After adjusting for covariates, the 2003 tobacco control legislation was associated with lower current cigarette smoking, but price per cigarette stick was not. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Graduation is the time when youth have to make important decisions and choose what they want to do after the school, which profession they want to acquire, in which professional field they want to work. This is the first stage of the professional self-determination as the professional self-determination and career selfmanagement is a life-long process. For the purpose of this research an empirical study was performed with an aim to explore the professional self-determination of 12th grade pupils in the establishments of general secondary education, especially focusing attention on engineering professions. For the theoretical and methodological basis of the research the results of theoretical studies in the following directions were used: 1) Self-Determination and Professional Self-Determination; 2) Career Management and Self-Management; 3) Professional Directionality of Personality; 4) Career Guidance, including Career Guidance System at School. Research methods: test for the determination of the professional directionality. Both results of the descriptive and the inferential statistics show that in both schools where the study was carried out there is a profound discrepancy between I want and I am able aspects in the self-assessment of pupils in relation to their future profession. Introduction. In recent years, research studies have demonstrated a significant decrease in physical activity (PA) amongst young people. Most of the young generation participate in sport and recreation too rarely, and they devote too much time to passive leisure. Diagnoses of physical activity at different stages of our lives, with particular emphasis on children and adolescents, are increasingly indicating that along with age, the level of physical activity, especially during leisure time, is decreasing. Material and methods. The aim of the study is to compare selected parameters of physical activity on a single day among students aged 12 and to determine how these parameters differ at school and at home. The study was conducted using an ActiGraph WGT3X accelerometer on a group of 100 students (50 girls and 50 boys) in a rural area of southern Poland. Results. The analysis showed that for parameters such as vigorous activity, total moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA), and step count, the observed difference between the time spent at school and outside of school was statistically significant (p < 0.05). All of these parameters were characterised by a higher level during school time. On the basis of the analyses performed, it was concluded that the school environment contributes to increasing youth's physical activity. Effective educational programmes promoting physical activity in different forms should be addressed to youth as well as to parents (custodians), who are responsible for the physical development of their children.

Introduction. The development of mass media, including an Internet has a significant impact on the lifestyle of young people. Despite of universal access and countless opportunities offered via Internet, an increasingly common phenomenon observed for several years is the excessive use of networks by young people, which can lead to Internet addiction. Aim. The aim of this study was to determine the degree of the Internet addiction in a group of junior high school students and high school students and selected conditions of this state. Material and methods. The applied research method was a diagnostic survey, and the following tools: the Kimberly Young’s Internet Addiction Test and the authors’ self-designed survey. The study covered 263 junior high school and high school students. The research was carried out from April to June 2018. Results. The Internet addiction was observed in 11% of the surveyed students. The use of social networking sites was the most common reason for using the Internet among surveyed (95%). The health problems associated with the long time of using the network of addicted students were general fatigue (61%) and lack of sleep (61%). Students addicted to the Internet much more often felt lonely (61%), depressed, upset or sad (n = 22, 78.6%) in contrast to other respondents. Conclusions. Demographic variables (such as: sex, type of school, place of residence) have no significant impact on the development of Internet addiction. Psychosocial functioning has an impact on the development of the Internet addiction.

Aims: In this paper we evaluate the sustainability of changes of involvement in physical activity. The paper examines the effectiveness of a model aiming at influencing the frequency of leisuretime physical activity, physical fitness and body constituency in youth. Methods: The baseline of this study was a randomly selected sample of 13 year olds who participated in an intervention programme carried out in three schools in Poznan in 2005—08. From a total of 199 adolescent boys a subsample of 38 individuals from the experimental group and 34 from the control group were followed for 15 months after the interventional programme finished. From 170 girls, a subsample of 33 from the experimental group and 32 girls from the control group were also randomly selected for the follow-up study. Among the variables monitored were: physical fitness, body constituency, and frequency of leisuretime physical activity. All the variables were monitored in pre-test, post-test and follow-up examinations. Results: It was established that 15 months after the end of the interventional programme boys and girls from the intervention groups maintained a higher level of leisuretime physical activity than their control group peers, and similarly in the case of selected health-related components of physical fitness. No distinctive differences were found in the case of body constituency, though, apart from muscle mass and the sum of skinfolds in girls. Conclusions: The study exposed an increase in leisuretime physical activity in time and a positive influence on selected components of health-related variables. The findings confirm the effectiveness of a multi-level intervention programme involving self-determined out-of-school physical activity planning for school-age youths, indicating the importance of personal and social context. The research was aimed to evaluate temperamental and familial determinants in adolescents applying an aggressive strategy of dealing with difficult social situations. The variables in the research study on shaping the strategy used by aggressive youth in difficult situations of social contact were measured with the aid of the author's questionnaire (RTSS), J. Strelau, A. Angleitner, B. Zawadzki's temperament survey, A. Roe, M. Siegelman's PCR form III Questionnaire. The empirical research comprised 499 adolescents (221 girls and 278 boys) aged 13-5. In the light of the conducted research it was stated that temperamental features concerning the characteristics of the strength of neural processes differentiates a high and low level of aggression in reacting to emotional tension. Furthermore, wrong upbringing attitudes characterised by emotional distance or emotional concentration of mothers and fathers towards an adolescent are significant determinants of aggression strategies used by adolescent youth in difficult social situations. - Abstract
The research was conducted on a randomly chosen group of 916 students aged 16-18 in Lublin Province, Poland. The research was carried out in 2016 using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire, the extended version, and supplemented with additional questions regarding the students’ assessment of physical education lessons. The majority of students (77.4%) meet the requirements for a high level of physical activity, with the remaining 16.5% demonstrating moderate and only 6.1% − low level. There were no significant reductions of physical activity visible in the older age group, although in subsequent periods (in 16-18 year-olds), it was successively lower. The mean level of total physical activity in boys was 65566 MET[1] - min week, and it was significantly higher than in girls, i.e. 5345,5 MET-min/week. The vast majority of students (92.2%) participate in school physical education classes, and over 75% think that they like these activities. Students enrolled in physical education classes demonstrate a higher level of total physical activity (5960.5MET-min/week), in contrast to the non-participating ones (5637,2MET-min/week); however, no significant relationship has been found. Furthermore, it has been shown that girls and boys were willing to get involved in different physical activities. Apart from PE classes, boys would mainly get involved in football (23.2%), volleyball (15.5%), table tennis (13.0%), and swimming (12.5%). Girls would instead choose volleyball (14.7%), football (12.6%), swimming (9.4%) and gymnastics (8.9%). This favourable image of physical activity of students in the Polish schools in Lublin Province can contribute to the discussion of the place of physical activities in the modern school educational process.

Youths today and increasingly from different artistic, symbolic and cultural languages are empowering their time and space, there are many expressions that young people articulate their thinking with the task. Caricature, on the other hand, is a strong example of illation, contrasts the image with the text, dignifies the thought and presents the subjectivity of the person who does it as well as of the one who reads it. In addition, it has a high sense of narrative without departing from the potential of drawing and allows us to elucidate how young people perceive themselves with their reality. It is therefore urgent that young people can express themselves and what better language than stroke, line, color, speak with drawings when oral expression is censored and opinion monitored. Caricature can be an ally of young people to communicate with freedom and bring them closer to a political culture with the national event perhaps more important in recent decades, peace and post-conflict in Colombia.

Using all the household survey data available in Latin America during the period 1992 to 2013, this paper estimates that in 2015, 20 million youth ages 15 to 24 years in the region were out of school and not working (making them ninis, for "ni estudian ni trabajan"). The share of out-of–school, out-of-work youth in Latin America, at about 19 percent, is roughly equal to the global average of 22 percent. Although women make up over two-thirds of the ninis in the region, the number of male ninis grew by 46 percent between 1992 and 2010. As a result, the absolute number of ninis rose over the two-decade period, even as women's education and employment rates were improving. Global comparisons show that Latin America is the region of the world with the largest concentration of ninis among households in the bottom 40 percent of the income distribution. Coupled with the long-lasting harm it causes to the youth's future labor-market outcomes, the high incidence of ninis among the poorest households tends to lock in income disparities from one generation to the next, obstructing social mobility and poverty reduction in the region.

The objectives of this study are to describe and analyze the out-of-work and out-of-school youth (ages 15-24) in the Europe and Central Asia2 (ECA) region. People who are out-of-work and out-of-school are referred to as NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training). This study attempts to characterize the NEETs by age, gender, education and their activity status. The main findings of this study are listed are as follows: first, the authors find that in the post-2009 period the youth NEET rate for the ECA region was 19.60 percent, which is higher than the OECD youth NEET rate of 16 in 2011 (OECD 2013). Second, this study finds that the NEET rate prior to the financial crisis in 2009 was on the decline, and increased in the post-2009 period. Third, this study finds that the NEET rate for ECA is higher for women than for men for all years. However, since the financial crisis in 2009, the gender gap has declined from 4.64 in pre-2009 to 2.75 percentage points in post-2009, suggesting that young men were more adversely affected by the recession than women. Forth, this study finds that in the ECA region youth males are more often classified as NEETs but active in the labor market, and youth females are more often classified as NEETs but inactive in the labor market. Fifth, using a linear probability model, this study finds that individuals, who are 20-24 years of age, have a lower level of educational attainment and married females are more likely to be NEET. Also, individuals living in urban areas and with lower household sizes are less likely to be NEET. Sixth, another linear probability model was constructed using household budget surveys for six countries in ECA from 2009. The main finding from this model was that NEET youths tend to live in households with lower per capita consumption than their non-NEET counterparts. Seventh, there is an increase in the NEET (unemployed) rate after the crisis, while the NEET (inactive) rate stayed roughly constant.

The evolution of Costa Rica’s social sectors over the past decade has been dichotomous. On the one hand, economic growth has remained relatively high, however poverty and inequality have not declined (moreover, they have increased), and persistent employment challenges remain. On the other hand, the country has continued experiences advances in many social indicators, such as pre-primary and tertiary enrollment rates, access to improved sanitation, and labor force participation, though not in others (secondary school completion, immunizations, employment). Higher economic growth and (to a lesser extent) revenues seem to have allowed a substantial increase in public social spending. Looking forward, the key challenges Costa Rica faces are related to continuing improving the quality and efficiency in the social sectors, while improving targeting to serve the most in need, in a tight and severe fiscal context. To expand coverage of excluded population, priority will have to be given to reallocations and improvements within the spending envelope for the social sectors to maximize impact. With a fiscal deficit of more than 6 percent of GDP, further expanding public social spending is no longer an option and budget cuts are looming. Improvements in public spending management and budget execution, including the need of institutional reform to consolidate programs and improve coordination among executing agencies is equally important. In a country that has long been the champion in expanding universal welfare state, sustainability concerns will imply that hard fiscal decisions would need to be made to increase the social returns of budget allocation.

The article emphasizes that both in the Orthodox and in the secular pedagogy the essence of the concept the "good" is generally regarded as an absolute good, i.e. the absolute values, but the evil is never absolute. It has been proved that the ability to distinguish the good and the evil is the essence of morality, which has been formed since early childhood. The organizational and pedagogical features of these concepts’ formation at the school youth were identified: out of confessionality, the use of interdisciplinary relations; study of the foundations of the Christian culture and the philosophy of the country, the world; the familiarization with the examples of the lives of the Saints; the optimal combination of the secular and the Orthodox means and methods of training; showing the Biblical knowledge as a guide how to act in everyday life.

- Abstract
Background: Increasing access to digital technology to young people in low-income settings has greatly influenced their porngraphy viewing and sexting, receiving and/or sending of sexual explicit materials via electronic devices. These change the sexual communication and behaviour of the young population. However, evidence to attest this change is not available in our setting. Thus, this study examined the relationship of high sexual risk-taking behaviour with sexting and pornography viewing among school youth in Ethiopia., Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from March to April 2015 by selecting school youth using a multistage sampling procedure. Data were collected using a pre-validated anonymous facilitator-guided self-administered questionnaire. Poisson regression was run to calculate adjusted prevalence ratio with its 95% confidence intervals. All differences were considered as significant for p values ≤0.05., Results: In total, 5924 questionnaires were distributed, and 5306 (89.57%) school youth responded in full to questions related to outcome variables. Of these respondents, 1220 (22.99%; 95% CI 19.45 to 26.96) were involved in high sexual risk-taking behaviour; 1769 (33.37%; 95% CI 30.52 to 36.35) had experienced sexting and 2679 (50.26%; 95% CI 46.92 to 53.61) were viewing pornography. The proportion of high sexual risk-taking behaviour was three-fold among pornography viewers (adjusted prevalence ratio (APR) 95% CI 3.02 (2.52 to 3.62)) and two-fold among sexters (APR 95% CI 2.48 (1.88 to 3.27)) as compared with their counterparts., Conclusions: Exposure to sexually explicit materials via communication technology is associated with increased high sexual risk-taking behaviour among school youth in northern Ethiopia. Considering these emerged predictors of sexual behaviours in our sexual education programmes, further research in this area is essential., Competing Interests: Competing interests: None declared., (© Author(s) (or their employer(s)) 2019. - Abstract
Background: Obesity and cardiovascular disease and metabolic disorders are an increasingly common problem worldwide, also in the developmental age population. Inhibiting this process requires identifying risk factors that can be modified., Objective: The aim of the study was to identify the conditions of the occurrence of overweight and obesity in the Lodz youth at school age., Materials and Methods: The survey was conducted in 2008-2012 among school students attending primary and secondary schools in the four districts of Lodz (city in Poland). The obtained results were subjected to statistical analysis (single- and multi-factorial logistic regression analysis)., Results: An excess of body weight was found in 23.5% of the examined youth. In multivariate logistic regression analysis, the factors significantly affecting the occurrence of overweight or obesity were: non-eating dinner (daily or sometimes, OR = 1.98); not eating fruit and vegetables every day (OR = 1.57), multi-hour passive relaxation time (use of TV, Internet, OR = 3.08) and low physical activity (OR = 1.76)., Conclusions: Intensive promotion of a healthy lifestyle - increasing the awareness and knowledge of schoolchildren, encouraging proper eating habits and active leisure activities - can significantly affect the reduction of obesity risk factors. Health education is required at school for children, as well as for parents and teachers., Competing Interests: The authors declare no conflict of interest, (National Institute of Public Health - National Institute of Hygiene)
