Red spinach (Amaranthus tricolor L.) is a vegetable plant that contains vitamins A and C, mineral salts and antioxidants. Red spinach can be cultivated to produce a high vitamin and antioxidant content plant by providing shade so as to obtain optimal sunlight intensity. In this study, shading of various colors and percentages was carried out with the aim of regulating the entry of light wavelengths and the amount of sunlight intensity to be absorbed by plants, so it was known what wavelengths were absorbed by plants and their effect on ß-carotene content in red spinach. The equipment used in the study were meter, luxmeter, paranet, Leaf Area Meter (LAM), RHS color chart and the materials used were red spinach seeds of Mira variety, soil, water, goat manure and pearl NPK fertilizer. The experimental design used is a simple Randomized Group Design (RBD) method, consisting of 7 shade treatments, namely no shade and white, green, blue shades (50% and 85% density respectively). The treatment factors used different colors and levels of shade net density with observation parameters including plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, fresh weight of plants, fresh weight of consumption and leaf color. Observations were made at the age of the plants 10, 15, 20, 25 DAP. The data were analyzed by RBD and then analyzed by LSD test at 5% real level. Based on the researc, it is known that the combined treatment of blue shade color with a density of 50% gives the best results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
