Background: Recovery from psychopathology in patients with personality disorder (PD) after the therapeutic intervention is not necessarily accompanied by an increase in their quality of life. This phenomenon can be understood from a bifactorial model of affect and challenges our therapeutic design to focus on recovery. Method: In a sample of severe PD, we evaluate emotional and clinical variables before (N = 414) and after (N = 247) a 6-month intervention program. Results: The level of emotion intensity influences the association between positive and negative affect (PA and NA; p < .0001). Patients with a "self-constructive" affective profile improve more in PA than in NA ( p = .008). Conclusions: The specific promotion of PA, applied in a phase in which the person experiences less negative emotional reactivity, could improve satisfaction with life and psychosocial functioning of PD patients.

The aim of this study was to analyze the effects of manual therapy on electromyography (EMG) measures of the primary muscles involved in archery, considering the differences between sexes. Twenty trained archery athletes (men: 14, age: 32.1±6.6 years; women: 6, age: 25.3±5.0 years) participated in this experimental study. The athletes were subjected to 100 archery shots, after which they received regenerative manual therapy. EMG measurements were taken from the middle deltoid, posterior deltoid, upper trapezius, middle trapezius, lower trapezius, and infraspinatus muscles before the shots, after the shots, and after the manual therapy. The outcomes measured included the mean and maximal amplitude of the EMG root mean square (EMGRMS) and the median frequency of the raw surface EMG signal power spectrum (EMGMED). Sex comparisons revealed a significantly higher EMGMED in the upper trapezius following manual therapy in women compared to men (F=5.096; p=0.037). No other significant differences were found between sexes (p>0.05). Repeated measures conducted at baseline, after 100 shots, and after manual therapy showed a significantly greater mean amplitude EMGRMS in the infraspinatus following manual therapy compared to after 100 shots (169.7 vs. 109.8 µV; p=0.008). Similar results were noted for maximal amplitude EMGRMS (372.7 vs. 209.5 µV; p=0.010). Additionally, a significantly lower maximal amplitude EMGRMS was observed at baseline compared to after manual therapy in low trapezius (312.6 vs. 551.2 µV; p=0.045). In summary, and overall, manual therapy did not play a significant role in restoring the EMG parameters in the primary muscles of archers after exposure to a fatigue condition. However, it showed efficacy in the case of the infraspinatus. Furthermore, apart from the upper trapezius, no significant effects were observed between genders, indicating similar effects in both. Keywords: archery; muscle fatigue; recovery; physical therapy modalities.

ABANDONED mines , *INFRASTRUCTURE (Economics) , *WATERSHEDS , *CONSTRUCTION materials , *MINE soils - Abstract
The province of García Rovira (Santander) has been the protagonist ofambitious road infrastructure projects, carried out through the figure of Temporary Authorization, for the extraction of construction materials used on the roads. The environmental liabilities represented in the soil by mining activities covered by Temporary Authorizations in the province were evaluated. Two projects associated with Temporary Authorizations were selected, in which the execution conditions were analyzed, and the closure and recovery plans of the intervened areas were compared. The projects SCR-08491 in El Término (Guaca) and LHO-14372 in the Servitá River Basin (Concepción) were selected, in which exploitation fronts and mining support areas devoid of vegetation cover, mainly abandoned mining infrastructure, were observed. It is concluded that the contractors focus mainly on complying with the exploitation plan, downplaying the execution of the closure, abandonment, and recovery phase ofthe intervened area. Inefficient control and monitoring of this type of projects by the environmental authority was evident. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper reports on the archaeological recording and recovery of a MK II Fairey Barracuda from the Solent, Hampshire, off the south coast of England. As its location precluded the aircraft being left in situ, the decision was made to recover the aircraft. Despite adverse visibility, and a significant amount of overburden, the extant remains of the aircraft were successfully recovered and delivered to the Fleet Air Arm Museum for conservation, as part of an ongoing project to rebuild an example of a Fairey Barracuda. In being recovered for reuse and exhibition some of the Barracuda's value to the wider community changed from that of a lost military aircraft to that of an historic object, drawing out the social history around it, and giving insights into military aircraft construction during the World War II. COMMUNITY mental health services , *MENTAL health , *DIFFERENTIAL item functioning (Research bias) , *LEGAL evidence , *RESEARCH bias , *STATISTICAL correlation , *TRUTHFULNESS & falsehood - Abstract
Background: The Self-Identified Stage of Recovery (SISR) (Andresen, 2007) is a scale used to assess both the stage of recovery (SISR-A) and the components of the process of personal recovery (SISR-B). This study aimed to develop the Spanish version of the SISR and obtain evidence of validity and reliability in a sample of 230 users of community mental health services. Method: The Spanish version of the SISR was developed following the translation-back translation procedure, with the support of a committee of experienced experts. The SISR was examined in terms of dimensional structure, internal consistency, relationships with other variables (i.e., the Maryland Recovery Assessment Scale [MARS-12] and the Dispositional Hope Scale [DHS]), and temporal stability (n = 66). Differential item functioning (DIF) by gender was analysed. Results: The study confirmed the unidimensionality of the SISR-B and suitable internal consistency of its scores (ω = .83, α = .83). Scores from both SISR-A and SISR-B showed good temporal stability and the SISR-B displayed strong correlations with the MARS-12 (rs = .78) and the DHS (rs = .67). No DIF was found. Conclusions: This study supports the validity and reliability of the scores of the Spanish version of the SISR. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: We aimed to evaluate the temporal dynamics of the native forest cover in the Guandu River hydrographic basin (GRHB) between the years 1985 and 2020, using landscape ecology metrics. Methodology: The land cover and land use values from the MapBiomas project in the years 1985 and 2020 were used. The native forest fragments were classified according to their size, as C1 (< 5 ha), C2 (5-25 ha), C3 (25.1-50 ha), and C4 (> 50 ha). Landscape ecology metrics were calculated using the V-Late 2.0 extension in ArcGIS®? Originality/Relevance: Study of the temporal dynamics of forest cover of hydrographic basins is essential to define strategic forest conservation and restoration actions aimed at protecting water resources. Results: The native forest cover of the GRHB increased by approximately 12%, with an increase in the number and average area of fragments. In general, the forest remnants became closer to each other and demonstrated a higher edge density. A high number of small fragments (< 5 ha) was verified and the largest fragments (> 50 ha) were the main factor responsible for the expansion of the native forest cover in the basin. Social/management contributions: Forest restoration actions in the GRHB should prioritize the connectivity of smaller fragments. In addition to supporting forest restoration projects, the results contribute to the application of methodologies to implement water resource management instruments, helping to define practices and policies for sustainable water use. EARTH (Planet) , *MATERIALITY & art , *AESTHETICS , *ENTRANCES & exits , *NATIVE language , *MENTAL health - Abstract
Thin Places (2021) is a piece of work which defies categorisation. It is partly a memoir filled with traumatic personal events, partly a reflection on loss in all its manifest forms (physical, familial, linguistic, environmental), and partly an uplifting plea for allowing the exploration of our natural surroundings to function as a meaningful form of care. Kerri ní Dochartaigh uses the materiality of the sentient beings that surround us, and deep care for our ecosystem, as a means of recovery. Earth care as self-care. Ní Dochartaigh is concerned with both the materiality and the immateriality of objects of care and manages to incorporate both through her interest in “the liminal space between things”, to borrow the title of an article by Timothy Morton (2014). The narrator foregrounds her mental health difficulties brought on by a violent and traumatic childhood in Northern Ireland yet also places the focus on the ways in which Ireland’s natural habitat, its material reality and its immaterial Celtic portals, “hold us” (2022: 228) in unsuspected care relationships. In the process, “[a]rt happens […] in the liminal space(s) between things, in conversations between metal and sky, humans and metal, era and era, heaven and earth” (Morton 2014: 270-1). A poignant process of recovery is recounted, highlighting firstly the refusal of care before slowly moving towards co-constituted acts of care: as ní Dochartaigh gradually recovers her lost mother tongue, and pays attention to the beauty of her natural surroundings, as she begins to care for both, she also starts to feel cared for. The sensory experience of loss, gain, and care in Thin Places is predicated upon several ecologies and resonates strongly with Joan Tronto’s definition of care as ultimately “a species activity that includes everything that we do to maintain, continue, and repair our ‘world’ so that we can live in it as well as possible. That world includes our bodies, our selves (sic.), and our environment, all of which we seek to interweave in a complex, life-sustaining web” (1993: 103; original emphasis). Kerri ní Dochartaigh celebrates, in the most understated manner, the full complexity of this “life-sustaining web” and this article proposes to unpack all of the above elements to show how her very singular aesthetics places the emphasis on the coloniality of loss and the restorative power of stories. NATIVE Americans , *IMPERIALISM , *RECLAMATION of land ,DALLES Dam (Or. & Wash.) - Abstract
In 1957, the Dalles Dam was constructed on the Columbia River between Washington and Oregon. When the dam was completed, it inundated Celilo Falls, a Native American fishery and cultural gathering point that had been in use for at least 12,000 years. Prior to dam construction, the federal government and local agencies issued a number of reports stating the necessity of the dam for economic development through hydroelectric power generation, improved shipping navigation, flood control, and expanded irrigation capacity. These reports often sought to determine the financial payout that would be made to the groups with treaty rights to fish at their "usual and accustomed" places, such as Celilo Falls. However, the reports rarely engage with the cultural significance of Celilo Falls or the depth of opposition that people had to the dam. The research discussed here is based on archival government reports alongside the voices of affected tribal members preserved through The Confluence Project and other sources. This article develops the idea that reclamation infrastructure in the U.S. West plays a key role in colonizing efforts from federal to local scales, reflecting the aims of the settler state. Through an analysis of government documents alongside the recollections of Indigenous elders from the mid-Columbia region, this article offers insights into how reclamation infrastructure functions as an aspect of settler colonialism and relies on theorizations of this process from the people most affected by the loss of Celilo Falls. FOREST restoration , *BIODIVERSITY conservation , *CLIMATE change mitigation , *FORESTS & forestry , *FOREST biomass , *FOREST conservation , *BIODIVERSITY - Abstract
Targeting degraded areas in forested landscapes for restoration could deliver rapid climate mitigation and biodiversity conservation, improve resilience of forested lands to future climate change, and potentially reduce the trade‐offs between nature recovery and agriculture. Although the importance of forest restoration for climate mitigation is acknowledged, current estimates of its climate mitigation potential may be underestimated because they focus predominantly on reforesting cleared areas. We built on recent analyses of forest integrity and unrealized forest biomass potential to examine the potential for restoring the integrity of degraded forests. There are over 1.5 billion ha of forests worldwide that retain 50–80% of their potential biomass. Prioritizing restoration in these areas could deliver rapid biodiversity and climate mitigation benefits, relative to restoring forest on cleared land. We applied a spatial planning approach to demonstrate how restoration interventions can be targeted to support the conservation of high‐integrity forest, a potential pathway to the delivery of the 30×30 goal of the Convention on Biodiversity's Global Biodiversity Framework.

This study aims to analyze herbal supplements that have the potential to accelerate recovery from exercise-induced muscle damage through a systematic review. Article searches were carried out using electronic databases originating from Pubmed and Scopus published from 2019 to 2022 using the keywords herbal, curcumin, garlic, ginger, tribulus, cinnamon, biomarkers, muscle pain, inflammatory markers, and antioxidant effects. The inclusion criteria in this literature review resulted in 14 selected articles resulting from a screening process of 90 articles. The results presented in this literature review reveal the fact that there are significant changes related to EIMD after consuming herbal supplements from 14 selected articles with doses varying between 500-2000 grams per day. In addition, other results showed that intervention with herbal products affected biomarkers and oxidative stress. Therefore, this systematic review provides evidence that supplemental intake strategies are essential for the average athlete or individual to minimize the negative effects of strenuous and excessive training. This systematic review concluded that herbal ingredients such as cinnamon, curcumin, garlic, ginger, and tribulus terrestris may help athletes or individuals recover from EIMD. Escaping war and persecution during the twenty-tens, over two-million displacees made life-risking journeys into Europe. Trauma continued for those who managed to cross borders and reach new havens: grappling with migration systems, searching for decent housing, and striving for social integration. This article presents empirical findings of a multi-modal participatory mapping project conducted with refugees and asylum seekers in Southwest England, and highlights the impact of memory and deep creative mapping on the spatial practice of making-home in forced displacement. The resulting maps embody spaces of recovery; memoryscapes revealing synergies between the constructs of memory and the concept of home in exile. The project asks how a creative participatory method of mapping home through memory reconsolidation can ameliorate the trauma of displacement and aid the re-making of home. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article presents the Bagara pilot project, which aims to provide community care for people with mental health problems in Gipuzkoa. The project is based on the clubhouse model and seeks to offer alternative and complementary resources to those currently available. The article justifies the initiative, describes its design and implementation, and highlights the importance of elements such as respect for people's rights, person-centered planning, quality of life, community participation, and evidence-based practice. The scarcity of community resources and the lack of comprehensive and quality care are identified as current limitations in the care of people with severe mental disorders. Within mental health services, the recovery model has been a guiding philosophy over the past decades. This model stresses 'person-centred care' and focuses on assisting service users to live a meaningful and hopeful life even if their illness has not been cured. As part of the recovery orientation, 'peer workers' (PWs), i.e. people with lived experiences of mental illness, are increasingly employed within mental health services. In this article, the authors explore how these changes open up frontiers and set in motion boundary work and identity discussions among healthcare professionals. Empirically, the article draws on qualitative data – interviews with healthcare professionals and observations of meetings – collected in mental healthcare services in Denmark. Theoretically, the article combines literature on professional boundary work with theories on 'self-casting', 'alter-casting' and 'othering'. Analysing two sets of demarcations – those between healthcare professionals and PWs, and those between professionals and patients – the study shows how the recovery model leads to defensive boundary work as well as an opening up of boundaries. The experiences and representations of recovery in depressions are dynamic and subjective, being specific for each moment and each situation. However, common areas of meaning can be found, including the possibility of affecting and being affected, of feeling pleasure again, and of being able to desire and guide one's own desire. From the study of specific ethnographic cases, thistext makes a journey through different experiences of recovery in depressions, showing distinctions between the definitions of pleasure and desire, which allow dialogue with theoreticalstudies on the subject. In addition, erotica, like that creative force that allows us to open ourselves to the world, appears as a fundamental concept to understand the phenomenon of recovery in those bodies that, like depressives, are closed to the world and distanced from their own corporality, but that little by little they reach the illusion and enjoyment to continue living. Objectives. – The aim of the study was to analyze the behavior of the modified total quality recovery (TQR) scale during four microcycles of accumulation in volleyball players and its relationship with physiological markers as heart rate variability (HRV) and training impulse (TRIMP), as well as load perception by the session rating of perceived exertion (s-RPE), and perceived recovery-stress state using the RESTQ-Sport questionnaire. Equipment and methods. – Seven female players of a national volleyball team (age: 24.26 ± 3.37 years; weight: 71.63 ± 6.84 kg; height: 176.97 ± 8.04 cm; % fat: 32.64 ± 1.57%) were evaluated during a pre-competitive camp. HRV, TRIMP, TQR scale, and the s-RPE were assessed daily. While the RESTQ-Sport was applied at the beginning and at the end of the concentration camp. The Spearman correlation for all variables, as well as Friedman Test for HRV, TRIMP, TQR and S-RPE and Wilcoxon test for RESTQ-Sport were performed. Furthermore, the smallest worthwhile change (SWC) was applied to identify the magnitudes of change in the intra-subject data. Results. – The TQR scale showed significant correlations (p < .05) with HRV parameters (LnrMSSD and Stress Score), S-RPE and RESTQ-Sport dimensions. Conclusion. – The TQR scale shows to be sensitivity to microcycles of accumulation in female volleyball players. In addition, the study proves the TQR concurrent validity by correlating with different physiological and psychological parameters for monitoring load and recovery. Keywords: assessment; recovery; sports performance; volleyball; internal training load
