Recent advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT and Copilot have led to their integration into various educational domains, including software development education. Regular use of LLMs in the learning process is still not well-researched; thus, this paper intends to fill this gap. The paper explores the nuanced impact of informal LLM usage on undergraduate students' learning outcomes in software development education, focusing on React applications. We carefully designed an experiment involving thirty-two participants over ten weeks where we examined unrestricted but not specifically encouraged LLM use and their correlation with student performance. Our results reveal a significant negative correlation between increased LLM reliance for critical thinking-intensive tasks such as code generation and debugging and lower final grades. Furthermore, a downward trend in final grades is observed with increased average LLM use across all tasks. However, the correlation between the use of LLMs for seeking additional explanations and final grades was not as strong, indicating that LLMs may serve better as a supplementary learning tool. These findings highlight the importance of balancing LLM integration with the cultivation of independent problem-solving skills in programming education. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study presents the implementation of "ESPE Security," an application designed to manage community emergency alerts. A data collection technique was employed to understand frequent incidents in the Luz de América parish in the Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas province. A sample of 440 residents was gathered through surveys covering an age range of 15 to 60 years, including various demographic groups such as students, traders, and the general population. The collected data revealed that approximately 87.95% of the surveyed rural parish population desires an application to report community incidents, as they have reported incidents such as traffic accidents, thefts, crimes, health issues, and homelessness. Based on these findings, a mobile and web application was developed to notify incidents in real time. The design and development of these applications involved technologies such as MongoDB, React, and Node.js, focusing on providing an intuitive user interface. Tests were conducted with 69 end-users and seven experts, employing quantitative techniques to assess design and usability. The results for design were 90%, and for usability, it was 66.70%. Therefore, mobile and web applications are helpful for real-time notification of critical incidents and will contribute to the community. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In Ukraine, the problem of insufficient use of the state language remains relevant. Due to geopolitical changes, including russian aggression, the importance of the Ukrainian language for the country's self-identification has increased. This became the basis for the development of an online service for taking Ukrainian language courses. The web application is designed to improve the Ukrainian language proficiency of Ukrainian citizens by taking relevant courses with mandatory testing of the knowledge gained by completing test tasks. Each course is divided into sections. In each section, the user has the opportunity to watch a video and work through a reference summary. To build the application, a client-server architecture, using web technologies that do not require additional licensing, was chosen. The server side of the application is based on the Apache2 web server and the MySQL database management system. When designing the software application, the SPA architecture was used to provide the user with an experience similar to that of a desktop program. The client side is built according to modern standards for creating a Single-Page Application, meaning that all the necessary code is loaded along with the page or dynamically loaded as needed, usually in response to user actions. To implement the software product, a database consisting of 15 tables was designed. During the design process, it was decided to use the Laravel framework built using the PHP programming language to create a private API, i.e. the backend of the application. To implement the client side, the JavaScript programming language library React is used. At the moment, this is the most popular solution for SPA architecture. The developed application has passed both functional and non-functional testing.

Background: Allergy immunotherapy (AIT) can be administered as subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) injections in the clinic or as sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) tablets at home after initiation under medical supervision. To achieve long-term, sustained effects, a 3-year treatment duration is recommended. Objective: Our aim was to assess the association of AIT (SCIT and SLIT tablets) with long-term health care resource use (HRU) and costs in subjects with allergic rhinitis. Methods: REACT was a retrospective propensity score–matched cohort study using claims data from a German health insurance database (2007-2017), with up to 9 years of follow-up after AIT initiation. HRU and costs were evaluated for hospitalizations, ambulatory care visits, and prescriptions, in subjects who received AIT versus in matched controls with allergic rhinitis who had not received AIT, as well as for SCIT and SLIT tablets. Results: Across all 9 years, the subjects who received AIT had a significantly lower incidence of hospitalization than the controls did. Generally, proportions of subjects with ambulatory care visits and hospitalizations were lower, and length of hospitalization was shorter, for those receiving SLIT tablets than those who received SCIT. Total costs were significantly higher with AIT versus for the controls during the treatment period (years 1 to 3), driven by prescriptions and ambulatory care visits, but they were lower in years 4 to 9. During years 1 to 3, prescription costs were generally higher for SLIT tablets than for SCIT, whereas ambulatory care costs were numerically lower. In most years, hospitalization costs were numerically lower for SLIT tablets than for SCIT. Conclusion: Initial higher HRU and costs of AIT during the expected treatment period are offset in the long term. At-home administration of SLIT tablets may further reduce ambulatory care costs.

Background: Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) potentiate serotonergic neurotransmission by blocking the serotonin transporter (5-HTT), but the functional brain response to SSRIs involves neural circuits beyond regions with high 5-HTT expression. Currently, it is unclear whether and how changes in 5-HTT availability after SSRI administration modulate brain function of key serotoninergic circuits, including those characterized by high availability of the serotonin 1A receptor (5-HT1AR). Aim: We investigated the association between 5-HTT availability and 5-HTT- and 5-HT1AR-enriched functional connectivity (FC) after an acute citalopram challenge. Methods: We analyzed multimodal data from a dose–response, placebo-controlled, double-blind study, in which 45 healthy women were randomized into three groups receiving placebo, a low (4 mg), or high (16 mg) oral dose of citalopram. Receptor-Enhanced Analysis of functional Connectivity by Targets was used to estimate 5-HTT- and 5-HT1AR-enriched FC from resting-state and task-based fMRI. 5-HTT availability was determined using [123I]FP-CIT single-photon emission computerized tomography. Results: 5-HTT availability was negatively correlated with resting-state 5-HTT-enriched FC, and with task-dependent 5-HT1AR-enriched FC. Our exploratory analyses revealed lower 5-HT1AR-enriched FC in the low-dose group compared to the high-dose group at rest and the placebo group during the emotional face-matching task. Conclusions: Taken together, our findings provide evidence for differential links between 5-HTT availability and brain function within 5-HTT and 5-HT1AR pathways and in context- and dose-dependent manner. As such, they support a potential pivotal role of the 5-HT1AR in the effects of citalopram on the brain and add to its potential as a therapeutic avenue for mood and anxiety disturbances. The article is devoted to the study of the application of optimization methods for drawing web applications using deeply nested objects. The task of analyzing the user interface, which includes a complex data structure received from the server part, is considered. In this regard, a special data set was formed based on the analysis of many web applications that have a complex front-end architecture system. It is demonstrated how it serves as the main input set of the system. It is shown that the front-end part is developed on the basis of the React library using the following technologies: JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Redux and auxiliary libraries for the correct operation of the system. The application structures and transforms input parameters into a format convenient for use by the system itself. Considering the fact that the system is intended for use only for front-end development, it is justified that the server part of the application is absent. With the help of browser tools, the performance problems of existing systems that use complex data structures to render a web application are investigated. It is proven that the system results in a component that renders an optimized data system with improved performance indicators: speed of rendering, speed of system response to user actions, reduced number of iterations of rendering of interactive elements. Additional functionality includes transformations and structuring of input parameters, as a result, the new data set will have additional parameters and a semantic structure of objects. In the future, it is planned to develop an optimization method and implement it in the form of an independent library, which, if possible, will replace the process of drawing similar data structures.

Worldwide, there are many people with hearing impairments. De-pending on its severity, hearing impairment can be solved using a more or less performant hearing device, according to one’s needs, but in the case of a total loss of hearing, these devices are rather expensive and not affordable for everyone. With these situations in mind, we developed a simple application, named Talky, which can be used to assist people with hearing disabilities, mostly total hear-ing loss, in order to facilitate the communication process with oth-ers. Talky is simple to use and may be useful for people who have difficulty speaking.

Magnetoencephalography (MEG) is a non-invasive imaging technique that measures the naturally occurring electrical activity of the brain. A MEG signal contains important information about the health of the brain and can be used to detect any abnormalities that could point to a neurological disease. MEG sensors are very sensitive, and so they are very susceptible to noise. Denoising these signals efficiently will make analyzing the data much easier. In this paper, we have utilized several components in order to obtain, denoise, and then store MEG data. First, data is submitted into a React application which then stores the raw data, along with user information into a MYSQL database. Then, the data passes through a 9-layer Denoising Autoencoder (DAE). Afterwards the output is then stored in a separate MYSQL database and its noisy version. The SNR of a signal after passing it through the model was able to be increased by a maximum of 88%. On average, the model was able to increase the SNR by 45.63%. Besides providing neurologists valuable information regarding the brain, it also serves as an easily accessible tool for viewing and cleaning MEG data.

- Abstract
• Interdisciplinary context-based teaching practice led to significant changes in students' associating knowledge with daily life, interdisciplinary problem solving skills, problem solving skills in physics and selected affective characteristics in physics. • Interdisciplinary context-based learning increases students' active participation in learning opportunities, improves students' problem solving skills and encourages them to seek help from each other in the face of problems. • Interdisciplinary context-based learning enables students to take responsibility for learning and to cooperate. • Interdisciplinary context-based learning makes it easier for the teacher to fulfill teaching and classroom management tasks. • In interdisciplinary context-based learning, there may be difficulties in activating students who remain passive in group work and in preventing students from engaging in extracurricular activities. This case study examines the cognitive and affective changes in students through the implementation process of the physics curriculum based on an interdisciplinary context-based learning approach. The study was conducted during the second semester of the 2017–2018 academic year with 33 students in one of the 10th grade classes of a high school in the Yüreğir district of the Adana province. A criterion sampling method of purposive sampling methods was employed in selecting the school and the class. In the intervention, the researchers used the physics curriculum they developed based on an interdisciplinary context-based learning approach. The plans and activities prepared according to the context-based REACT model were implemented for eight weeks and the data were collected using both quantitative and qualitative methods. At the end of the intervention, significant changes were observed in the students' ability to relate their knowledge to daily life, interdisciplinary problem-solving skills, attitudes towards problem-solving in physics, and affective characteristics. During the process, students who encountered challenges in problem-solving, focusing on the lesson, working in groups, and relating information to real-life and different disciplines managed to overcome these challenges by increasing their individual efforts and communicating with their peers and the teacher. Because of students who remained passive, made noise, and frequently changed their seats during group work, the researchers encountered some challenges in instruction and time management. To increase classroom participation, they opted for updating the lesson plan, preparing additional examples, and increasing the number of visual materials. In this respect, teachers and other researchers are recommended to allocate more time to interdisciplinary context-based teaching activities, provide students with more real-life problem situations, diversify group work, and conduct group activities more frequently. Background: Relatives of people with psychosis or bipolar disorder experience high levels of distress but are typically not offered the support they need. Online peer forums may offer a solution, but knowledge about who uses them, how, and why is limited. This study reported on online forum use during the Relatives Education and Coping Toolkit (REACT) trial. Objective: We aimed to report who used the forum and why; how sociodemographic factors are associated with participation; the relationship among frequency, type of use, and outcomes; and how the forum was used. Methods: The relationships between key sociodemographic characteristics, levels of forum use, and distress were statistically analyzed. We used thematic and semantic analyses to understand the reasons for relatives joining the forum and the key topics initiated by them. We also used the University Centre for Computer Corpus Research on Language Semantic Analysis System to compare how relatives and REACT supporters (moderators) used the forum. Results: A total of 348 participants with full forum use data from REACT were included in this study. The forum was accessed by 59.4% (207/348) of the relatives across the entire age range, with no significant associations between sociodemographic factors and forum participation, or between level or type of use and relatives' distress levels. Relatives joined the forum primarily to find people in similar circumstances, express concerns, and talk about stressful events. Relatives were most concerned about recent events, negative emotions linked to caring, experiences of conflict or threat, and concerns about suicide. These posts underscored both the challenges the relatives were facing and the fact that they felt safe sharing them in this context. Conclusions: Although only a proportion of REACT participants engaged actively with its forum, they were widely distributed across age and other sociodemographic groupings. Relatives used the forum for information, support, and guidance and to offer detailed information about their experiences. The topics raised highlighted the burden carried by relatives and the potential value of easy-access, moderated, peer-supported forums in helping relatives to manage the challenges they faced. - Abstract
