The main objective of this paper is to assess the performance of nine downward longwave radiation equations for clear-sky condition and develop a locally adjusted equation using the observed vapor pressure and air temperature data. The radiation and atmospheric parameters were measured during the months of October 2005 to June 2006 at a micrometeorological tower installed at the experimental site in a banana orchard in the semiarid region of Northeast Brazil. The comparative statistics for the performance of the downward longwave radiation calculation models during daytime and nighttime compared to measured data have shown that the parameterizations with more physical foundations have the best results. The locally adjusted equation and Sugita and Brutsaert model developed in 1993 showed errors less than 1.0% in comparison with measured values. Downward longwave radiation is one of the most expensive and difficult component of the radiation budget to be monitored in micrometeorological studies. Hence, the locally adjusted equation can be used to estimate downward longwave energy, needed as input to some agricultural and hydrological models, in semi-arid regions of the Northeast Brazil, where this component is not monitored. O principal objetivo desse artigo é avaliar o desempenho de nove equações, para obter radiação de onda longa incidente para condições de céu claro e desenvolver uma equação localmente ajustada utilizando dados observados de pressão de vapor e temperatura do ar. Os parâmetros atmosféricos e de radiação foram medidos durante os meses de outubro/2005 e junho/2006, em uma torre micrometeorológica instalada no sítio experimental, em um pomar de bananeiras na região semi-árida do Nordeste do Brasil. A estatística comparativa para o desempenho dos modelos, para o cálculo da radiação de onda longa durante os períodos diurnos e noturnos, comparados aos dados medidos, tem mostrado que as parametrizações com mais fundamentações físicas têm melhores resultados. A equação ajustada localmente e o modelo de Sugita e Brutsaert, desenvolvido em 1993, mostraram erros menores que 1.0%, em comparação com os valores medidos. A radiação de onda longa incidente é um dos componentes do balanço de radiação mais caro e difícil de ser monitorado em estudos micrometeorológicos. Logo, a equação localmente ajustada pode ser usada para estimar a energia de onda longa incidente, necessária como dado de entrada em alguns modelos agrícolas e hidrológicos, nas regiões semi-áridas do Nordeste do Brasil, onde esta componente não é monitorada.

A utilização de calibrações propostas para outras regiões, devido à falta de uma calibração regional, vem ocasionando erros na estimativa dessas componentes. Nesse sentido, este estudo objetiva a calibração do maior número de equações possível para melhorar a precisão das estimativas de diferentes componentes do balanço de radiação à superfície. Foram utilizados dados TM – Landsat 5 e dados observados em experimento de campo realizado em pomar de bananas irrigado localizado no município de Quixeré – CE, Brasil, obtidos nos anos de 2005 e 2006 para aplicação do algoritmo e validação dos resultados, respectivamente. Foram propostas calibrações para o albedo da superfície, radiação de onda longa incidente, temperatura da superfície e calibração de modelo senoidal para extrapolação de valores instantâneos do saldo de radiação para valores diários. Os resultados obtidos foram comparados com os dados observados na área de estudo por meio da estimativa dos erros percentuais e absolutos associados. Foram encontrados erro médio percentual e erro médio absoluto da ordem de 7% e 0,011 para o albedo da superfície, 3% e 12 Wm-2 para a radiação de onda longa incidente e de 8% e 50 Wm-2 para o saldo de radiação instantâneo, respectivamente. Os valores obtidos foram considerados satisfatórios para a estimativa das componentes e para o saldo de radiação diário foram encontrados erro médio percentual e erro médio absoluto da ordem de apenas 9,6% e 14,68 Wm-2 para o modelo senoidal modificado e de 9,11% e 13,20 Wm-2 para o modelo clássico do SEBAL, respectivamente. Concluiu-se que as calibrações propostas contribuíram significativamente para melhoria do método apresentado. Applications of SEBAL/METRIC algorithm for estimation of surface energy balance components have intensifying in Brazilian semi-arid region with objective of water resources management. The use of calibrations proposals for other regions, due to lack of a regional calibration, comes causing errors in the estimate of these components. In this direction, this study it considered the calibration of the biggest possible number of equations to improve the precision of the estimate. Has been used Landsat 5 - TM and data measured in the experiment carried through on a culture of bananas located in the city of Quixeré - CE, Brazil, retrieved in 2005 and 2006 years for application of the algorithm and validation of the results, respectively. Has been proposals calibrations for surface albedo, incoming long-wave radiation, surface temperature and of the sine model for conversion of instantaneous values of net radiation in daily values. The gotten results had been compared with data the measured in the area of study by means of the estimate of the percentile and absolute errors associates. Had been found percentile average error and absolute average error order of 7% e 0,011 for surface albedo, 3% e 12 Wm-2 for incoming long wave radiation e de 8% e 50 Wm-2 for instantaneous net radiation, respectively. The gotten values had been considered satisfactory for the estimation of the components and for the daily net radiation the percentile average error and absolute average error had been found order of only 9,6% and 14,68 Wm-2 for modified sine model and 9,11% and 13,20 Wm-2 for classic SEBAL model, respectively. One concluded that the calibrations proposals had contributed significantly for improvement of the presented method.

Foram utilizados os métodos micrometeorológicos da razão de Bowen e das correlações turbulentas, assim como, os algoritmos Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land (SEBAL) e Simplified Surface Energy Balance Index (S-SEBI) na obtenção da evapotranspiração na cultura da banana, localizada na fazenda Frutacor (Quixeré, CE/Brasil) e da vegetação tamarisk, localizada na área de preservação ambiental de Cibola (Blythe, CA/EUA). Também foram analisados o comportamento dos elementos atmosféricos e as suas correlações com a evapotranspiração de referência (ET0), para as duas áreas estudadas, assim como o comportamento diário da fração evaporativa na cultura da banana. Os resultados evidenciaram que para ambas as áreas estudadas houve forte advecção do vento e ar seco e que a temperatura do ar apresentou altos valores durante o dia e baixos valores à noite. Na Área I (Fazenda Frutacor), a velocidade do vento se apresentou como o componente de maior influência na obtenção da ET0, enquanto que, para a Área II (Cibola National Wildlife Refuge - CNWR), a radiação solar se apresentou como o componente de maior influência. Em geral, os valores estimados pelos algoritmos SEBAL e S-SEBI se mantiveram muito próximos dos valores medidos nas torres de fluxos. O erro quadrático médio entre os valores da ETr diária medidos e os estimados pelo SEBAL foi de 0,4 mmdia-1, enquanto que para os medidos e os estimados pelo S-SEBI foi de 0,5 mmdia-1, resultando num erro percentual médio de 9,5% entre os medidos e o SEBAL e de 10,6% entre os medidos e o S-SEBI, evidenciando a aplicabilidade de ambos os métodos na obtenção da evapotranspiração real diária. The main objective of this study was to determine the daily actual evapotranspiration (ETr) of the banana crop and tamarisk vegetation utilizing micrometeorological data and remote sensing algorithms. The Bowen ratio and eddy covariance methods, and the Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land (SEBAL) and Simplified Surface Energy Balance Index (SSEBI) algorithms were used to obtain the ETr of the banana crop, located in the Frutacor farm (Quixeré, CE/Brazil) and of the tamarisk vegetation, located in the preserved area of the Cibola (Blythe, CA/USA). The behavior of the atmospheric parameters and its correlations with the reference evapotranspiration (ET0), for the both study areas were analyzed. The daily behavior of the evaporative fraction of the banana crop has been also analysed. The results evidence that both study areas had strong advection of the wind and dry air and the air temperature presented higher values during the day and lower values at night. In the Area I, the wind speed was the most influential component in obtaining the ET0, however, for the Area II, the solar radiation was the component most influential. In general, the estimated values by the SEBAL and S-SEBI algorithms present results close to the measured values in the flux towers. The RMSE between the measured values and the estimated values by SEBAL was 0.4 mmday-1, and for the measured values and the estimated values by S-SEBI was 0.5 mmday-1, resulting in a percentual mean error of 9.5% between the measurements and the SEBAL and 10.6% between the measurements and the S-SEBI, evidencing the applicability of both the algorithms in obtain the daily actual evapotranspiration.

Nesse sentido, a evapotranspiração real se apresenta como um dos mais importantes componentes do ciclo hidrológico. O presente trabalho objetiva a determinação da evapotranspiração real – ETr na bacia hidrográfica do Baixo Jaquaribe por meio de imagens de satélite e do algoritmo SEBAL/METRIC. Foram utilizadas cinco imagens do TM – Landsat 5 e dados de uma estação meteorológica automática instalada na Fazenda Frutacor, em Quixeré – CE. A ETr foi validada com os componentes do balanço de energia medidos com a técnica das correlações turbulentas, em experimento micrometeorológico instalado em pomar de bananeiras durante o período de agosto de 2005 a setembro de 2006. Foram empregados três diferentes procedimentos de correção atmosférica na determinação do albedo. Os valores do albedo e saldo de radiação apresentaram boa concordância com as medições de superfície. O fluxo de calor latente gerado com o SEBAL/METRIC foi, em geral, superior aos medidos, mas quando comparados com aqueles derivados do produto do Kc pela ETo o Erro relativo médio foi de apenas 13,9 % e a comparação com a ET24h apresentou Erro relativo médio de 13,4%. Concluiu-se que o SEBAL/METRIC apresentou resultados muito consistentes e que podem ser usados na geração de mapas de evapotranspiração na bacia do Baixo Jaguaribe. The water resources management of semi-arid lands in Brazil is of great importance since the hydrological regime of its intermittent rivers is critical. In this sense, the evapotranspiration is one the most important components of the hydrological cycle. The present work objectives the determination of evapotranspiration in the Low Jaguaribe basin based on satellite images and the SEBAL/METRIC algorithm. Five TM – Landsat 5 images and data collected in an automatic weather station installed on Frutacor Farm, in Quixere – CE were used. The ETr values were validated with energy balance components obtained by the eddy covariance method, in an experiment installed in a banana orchard during the period from August 2005 to September 2006. Three different procedures were applied for atmospheric correction of the albedo. The albedo and net radiation results presented good agreement with surface measurements. The latent heat flux values – LE obtained with SEBAL/METRIC algorithm were usually greater than those provided by eddy covariance measurements, but when comparisons were made with LE obtained by multiplying the banana crop Kc by ETo the mean relative error was equal to13.9%.The comparison between daily ETr from SEBAL/METRIC with ETr from eddy covariance presented a mean relative error of 13.4%. The main conclusion is that SEBAL/METRIC algorithm presented very consistent results and that it can be used for generation evapotranspiration maps in the Low Jaguaribe River basin.

Este modelo destina-se ao aprimoramento da estimativa de temperatura e refletância de superfícies Lambertianas estimadas pelo algoritmo METRIC em condições de céu claro. A base do ME é a propagação da radiação na atmosfera utilizando o método de dois fluxos no espectro solar e uma solução simplificada da equação de Schwarzchild no intervalo espectral de 10,4 a 12,5 μm. O processo de espalhamento é descrito numa atmosfera subdividida em 16 camadas, utilizando uma estrutura estocástica. O modelo proposto estima com precisão a transmitância e a irradiância global a superfície com erro inferior ao SBDART, e permite estabelecer as funções necessárias para uma boa correção de efeitos atmosféricos contidos nos parâmetros de superfície armazenados pelo satélite. A transmitância e a radiação térmica da atmosfera são obtidas através de parametrizações com o objetivo de evitar a utilização de dados de radiossonda. Para estimar a temperatura da superfície (Ts) com imagens TM-Landsat 5 utiliza-se um mono-window e um split-window para imagens MODIS. Na estimativa da refletância da superfície (Rs) com imagens TM-Landsat 5 o modelo proposto apresenta um erro entre 1,5 e 5 % em relação aos valores medidos, enquanto o METRIC apresenta um erro que varia entre -10% e 11%. A eficiência do ME é a mesma tanto com imagens MODIS quanto com imagens TM-Landsat 5. Em locais com alta carga de aerossol o METRIC apresenta erros superiores a 50%, enquanto o ME apresenta erros inferiores a 15%. O erro na estimativa de Ts é menor que 1,8 K (com imagens TM-Landsat 5 e MODIS). Os resultados mostram que o ME é eficiente no processo de correção atmosférica na janela atmosférica e no espectro solar em locais com alta e baixa carga de aerossol. In this work a model named ME is presented for atmospheric correction of TMLandsat 5 and MODIS-Terra/Aqua images. This model improves the estimation of temperature and reflectance of Lambertian surfaces evaluated by METRIC algorithm under clear sky conditions. ME is based on the radiation propagation in the atmosphere using the two-stream method in the solar spectrum and a simplified solution of the Schwarzchild equation in the wavelength of 10,4 to 12,5 μm. The scattering process is described in an atmosphere subdivided into 16 layers using a stochastic structure. The proposed model estimates precisely the transmittance and the irradiance global at the surface with an error less than SBDART, and allows establishing the necessary functions for a good correction of atmospheric effects contained in the surface parameters stored by satellites. The transmittance and the thermal radiation of the atmosphere are obtained by means of parameterizations avoiding the use of radiosonde data. In order to estimate the surface temperature (Ts) with TM-Landsat 5 images a mono-window used and a split-window for the MODIS images. In the estimation of the surface reflectance (Rs) with TM-Landsat 5 images the proposed model presents an error between 1,5 and 5% in relation to the measured values, while METRIC presents an error between -10% and 11%. The ME efficiency is the same with MODIS and TM-Landsat 5 images. In places with high aerosol load, METRIC presents errors above 50%, while ME presents error under 15%. The estimation error for Ts is less than 1,8 K (with TM-Landsat 5 and MODIS images). The results show that ME is efficient in the process of atmospheric correction in the atmospheric window and in the solar spectrum in places with high and low aerosol loads.

As fontes renováveis, como o biodiesel, aparecem como uma solução limpa e eficaz para o suprimento das futuras demandas energéticas. Nesse contexto, a mamona, vem assumindo um lugar de destacada importância mundial. Sua característica de fácil adaptação às regiões semi-áridas e a qualidade de seu óleo são responsáveis pelo atual interesse mundial em seu cultivo. Por sua exigência de altas temperaturas, a mamona se adapta muito bem aos Trópicos. Por isso, o Nordeste do Brasil vem despontando como uma região promissora à produção de sementes de mamona. Tendo, entretanto, na maior parte de sua região, uma grande instabilidade no regime pluviométrico, as incertezas quanto ao plantio em sequeiro (sem irrigação), fazem com que o pequeno agricultor sofra grandes perdas em suas plantações. Considerando tais características, efetuou-se, através de um zoneamento agroclimatológico, a identificação das áreas aptas ao cultivo e a determinação da época mais favorável para o início do plantio da mamona, em regime de sequeiro, nos Estados de Pernambuco, Paraíba e Rio Grande do Norte. Para cada localidade selecionada, o período de crescimento da mamona foi determinado usando médias e probablidades da cadeia de Markov da umidade disponível do solo. Com os resultados, as áreas com aptidões para o cultivo da mamona foram determinadas. Os resultados mostraram uma acentuada restrição de disponibilidade de água no solo para a mamoneira. Verificou-se que para os níveis de CAD trabalhados e considerando-se a limitação de altitude ótima para o cultivo da mamoneira, a maior parte do Estado da Paraíba não tem condições de umidade do solo adequadas para suprir as necessidades da mamoneira em todo o período crítico de seu ciclo de desenvolvimento. Sendo necessária a irrigação em quase toda a extensão do Estado, com exceção das regiões dos municípios de Araruna e Alagoa Nova para todos os níveis de CAD, e Olho D'Água para CAD150, CAD200 e CAD250- O Estado de Pernambuco apresentou condições mais favoráveis ao cultivo da mamoneira em sequeiro numa faixa do Agreste que compreende as regiões próximas aos municípios de Cortês, Maraial e Jucati, e micro região circunvizinha de Machados, para CAD100, CAD150 e CAD200 , para o nível de CAD250, há uma pequena região ao Norte do Sertão, compreendendo os municípios circunvizinhos a São José do Belmonte e todo o Agreste à exceção da região em torno do município de Caruaru. No Rio Grande do Norte a produção da mamona em sequeiro, para todos os níveis de CAD, deve ser restrita apenas a uma pequena região no sudoeste do estado próximo ao município de São Miguel e pequena região próxima a Coronel Ezequiel. A prática da irrigação suplementar é essencial para a viabilização desta atividade nas demais regiões do Estado. Nowadays, there is an increasing necessity of new energy sources. The renewable sources, like biodiesel, appears as a clean and efficient solution to suppliment the future energy demands. In this context, castor bean, has assumed a prominent place in the world. It's characteristic of easy adaptation in semi-arid regions, and the quality of its oil are responsible for the worldwide interest in the cuítivation of the castor beans. Because of its high temperature requirement, the castor bean is very well adapted to the tropical regions. Thus, the Northeast Brazil shows up as a great castor bean seed-producing region. Having, however, most of this region is susceptible to a great instability in the pluviometric behavior. The instability of the pluviometric behavior brings uncertainties about the unirrigated plantation, conducing the farmers to suffer great losses in the plantations. Considering such characteristics, through an agroclimatologic zoning, the identification of the suitable áreas for planting and the determination of the probable time for the beginning of the Castor bean's plantation were done for the unirrigated regime, in the states of Pernambuco, Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte. At each selected locality growing periods of castor beans are determined using averages and Markov chain probabilities of available soil moisture. Using these results, áreas suitable for the plantation of castor beans are determined. The results showed an accentuated restriction of soil water availability to castor beans culture. It was verified that, for the leveis of CAD considered and considering the altitude limitation to castor bean plantation, most of the state of Paraíba, doesn't present an adequate soil moisture condition to supply the needs of the castor beans in the whole criticai period of its development cycle. Irrigation is necessary in most of the localities in the state except for the localities of Araruna and Alagoa Nova, at ali leveis of CAD and Olho d'água district at CAD i50, CAD2oo and CAD250 leveis. The state of Pernambuco, presented more favorable conditions, to the cuítivation of castor beans under unirrigated regime, in the "Agreste", an area that surrounds Cortês, Maraial and Jucati districts, and a small area near Machados district at CAD100, CAD150 and CAD200 leveis, at CAD250, there is a small area to the North of the "Sertão", surrounding São José do Belmonte and the "Agreste" excluding Caruaru district. In Rio Grande do Norte the production of the castor beans in unirrigated regime, for ali the leveis of CAD, should be restricted to a small area in the Southwest of the state near São Miguel district and a small area near Coronel Ezequiel. The practice of the supplemental irrigation is essential for the viability of this activity in the other áreas of the state.

A pesquisa objetivou ainda validar dados do SEBAL na estimativa da evapotranspiração em escala regional, pelo balanço de energia à superfície mediante a comparação desse balanço realizado por imagens de satélites e medições em campo. Foram utilizadas imagens obtidas em 04 de dezembro de 2000 e em 04 de outubro de 2001, 24 de setembro de 2003 e 12 de outubro de 2004 para Landsat e imagens NOAA nos dias 04 de outubro de 2001 e 24 de setembro de 2003 envolvendo áreas irrigadas do Projeto Nilo Coelho, parte do Lago de Sobradinho e do rio São Francisco e áreas de vegetação nativa (caatinga). Foram utilizados os procedimentos do Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land (SEBAL) proposto por Bastiaanssen (1995) e Allen et al. (2002). Foram obtidos o albedo da superfície (a) e os índices de vegetação (IVDN, IVAS e IAF) e a temperatura da superfície (Ts) de cada pixel. A radiação solar incidente foi estimada com base nos dados do cabeçalho das imagens e a radiação atmosférica foi estimada com base em dados de estação meteorológica de superfície. Com estas informações foram estimados o saldo de radiação (Rn) com imagens do Landsat, que apresentou médias de 570,7 Wm"' em 2000 e 551,5 Wm"2 em 2001 e média de 468,9 Wm"2para a imagem NOAA em 2001. Em 2003 a média de Rn para o Landsat foi de 597,2 Wm"2, enquanto que para o NOAA foi de 540, 9 Wm"2. O fluxo de calor no solo (G) foi estimado em função do Rn, Ts, a e IVDN e apresentou médias para imagens Landsat de 94,5 Wm"2 em 2000 e 112,3 Wm"2 em 2001, enquanto que para imagem NOAA em 2001 essa estatística foi de 109,5 Wm"2 Já em 2003 o a média de G para o Landsat foi de 124 Wm"2 e de 120,3 Wm"2 O fluxo de calor sensível (H) foi estimado com base no processo iterativo utilizando-se da velocidade do vento e da altura média da vegetação obtidos na estação meteorológica de superfície e em dois pixels de referência (quente e frio) na determinação da diferença de temperatura entre a superfície e o ar próximo a mesma, apresentando para o Landsat médias de 131,4 Wm" em 2000 e de 158,3 Wm"' em 2001, enquanto que para imagem NOAA em 2001 a média foi de 218,7 Wm"'. No ano de 2003 os valores médios de H para o Landsat e NOAA foram de 331,3 Wm' e 274,7 Wm"2 respectivamente.O fluxo de calor latente (LE) foi obtido como resíduo do balanço de energia à superfície onde foram obtidas médias para o Landsat de 366,4 Wm"2 em 2000 e de 279,4 Wm" em 2001, já para a imagem NOAA no ano de 2001 foi de 161,7 Wm"". No ano de 2003 os valores médios de LE para o Landsat e NOAA foram respectivamente de 270 Wm"2 e 161,9 Wm"2. O valor médio de H em 2000 foi inferior ao de 2001 e o valor médio de LE de 2000 superior ao de 2001, pode ter sido uma conseqüência da ocorrência de chuvas na área estuda em dezembro de 2000, o que afetaria mais diretamente o albedo e a temperatura da superfície e o fluxo de calor no solo das áreas não irrigadas. A evapotranspiração (ET) média diária obtida com imagens Landsat no ano de 2000 foi de 2,5 mm/dia, enquanto para 2001 a ET média foi de 2,2 mm/dia, com ET máxima de 4,6 mm/dia em 2000 e 4,9 mm/dia em 2001. Para a imagem NOAA do ano de 2001 a ET média foi de 1,5 mm/dia, com valo máximo de 4,7 mm/dia. Já em 2003 a ET obtida com imagem Landsat foi de 2,1 mm/dia, enquanto aquela obtida com imagem NOAA foi de l,6mm/dia, com valores máximos de 5,1 mm/dia e 4,6 mm/dia para Landsat e NOAA respectivamente. A validação mostrou que todos os fluxos (Rn, G, H, LE) estimados com base no SEBAL subestimaram aos medidos em campo, e que a ET diária obtida com SEBAL atingiu 5,0 mm/dia, com média de 2,3 mm/dia, enquanto que a ET medida atingiu 4,6mm/dia com média de 2,0 mm/dia. The main objective of the present work was determinate of energy balance components at the surface, based on the spectral data collected through the seven bands of Landsat 5 and five bands of NOAA-16 satellites and some data of a meteorological station within the studied area. Four images of Landsat and two images of NOAA, obtained on December 04, 2000, on October 04, 2001, on September 24, 2003 and on October 12, 2004, involving irrigated areas of Project Nilo Coelho, part of Sobradinho Lake and San Francisco river, and areas of native vegetation were used. The Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land (SEBAL) procedures, proposed by Bastiaanssen (1995) and improved by Allen et al. (2002), was applied. The albedo of surface and vegetation indexes, based on reflective spectral bands of the Landsat 5 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7) and NOAA (1,2), were obtained. The land surface temperature for each pixel, corrected by its emissivity, was obtained. The incident solar radiation was assessed using the image header data and the atmospheric radiation was estimated available weather station data. With these informations the net radiation (Rn) was obtained. Rn that Landsat presented average values of 570.7 Wm"2 in 2000 and 551.5 Wm"2 in 2001, and 468.9 Wm"2 to NOAA in 2001. In 2003 average values to Landsat and NOAA were the 597.2 2 2 Wm and 540.9 Wm " respectively. The soil heat flux (G) was calculated as a function of the net radiation, land surface temperature, albedo and NDVI for each pixel. It average values of Landsat were 94.5 Wm"2 in 2000 and 112.3 Wm"2 in 2001, while a NOAA satellite was 109.5 Wm"2 in 2001. In 2003 average values were 124 Wm"2 and 120.3 Wm"2 to Landsat and NOAA respectively. The sensible heat flux (H) was estimated according to an iterative process that takes into account the atmospheric stability and vertical wind speed profile With two reference pixels (hot and cold) is possible to determine the vertical temperature difference between levels. Then it is possible to make a first determination of H. In the next step the atmospheric stability is obtained and then H is corrected. This processed continued till the stability of dT and H is reached. The average values of H to Landsat in 2000 was equal 131.4 Wm"2 in 2000 and 158.3 Wm"2 in 2001, while the NOAA satellite in 2001 was 218.7 Wm"2. In 2003 average values H were 331.3 Wm"2 and 274.7 Wm"2 to Landsat and NOAA respectively. The latent heat flux (LE) was obtained as residue of the energy balance equation, and they were equal to 366.4 Wm"2 in 2000 and 279.4 Wm"2 in 2001 to Landsat and while NOAA image in 2001 was 161.7 Wm"2. In 2003 average values of LE were 270 Wm"2 and 161.9 Wm"2 to Landsat and NOAA respectively. The average value of H in 2000 was less than the 2001 value and average value LE in 2000 was greater than 2001 one. It might have been a consequence of occurrence of some rain event in the studied area in December of 2000, while affected the albedo and temperature of each pixel. The evapotranspiration (ET) average daily obtained by Landsat in 2000 was 2.5 mm/day, while 2001 the ET was 2.2 mm/day, with maximum value the 4.6 mm/day in 2000 and 4.9 mm/day in 2001. The NOAA image was 1.5 mm/day in 2001, with maximum value 4.7 mm/day. In 2003 the ET to Landsat was 2.1 mm/day, while the NOAA image was 1.6 mm/day, with values maximum of 5.1 mm/day and 4.6mm/day to Landsat and NOAA respectively. The validation obtained that all flux estimated with SEBAL algorithm sub estimated a measure, and the ET daily SEBAL reach 5.0 mm/day, with average the 2.3 mm/day, while that the ET measured was 4.6 mm/day, with of the 2.0 mm/day.

As imagens utilizadas são compostas por sete bandas espectrais referentes aos dias 04 de dezembro de 2000 e 04 de outubro de 2001, na órbita 217 e ponto 67, referente ao Perímetro Irrigado Senador Nilo Coelho. Os cálculos foram realizados com e sem a utilização do Modelo de Elevação Digital (MED). A transmissividade atmosférica e a emissividade da superfície não apresentaram variações significativas, mostrando uniformidade em ambos os métodos. O Índice de Vegetação da Diferença Normalizada (IVDN) apresentou pequena variação entre os métodos. Os valores do albedo da superfície foram maiores com a utilização do MED, em ambos os anos e apresentaram valores entre 6,9% e 46,4% para 2000; 4,1% e 42,0%, para 2001, com o MED e sem o MED, 6,5% e 37,8%, para 2000 e 4,9% e 40%, para 2001. A temperatura da superfície estimada com o MED, para o dia 04/12/2000 variou de 22,74ºC a 35,80ºC e apresentando valor um pouco maior do que o estimado sem o MED, que obteve uma variação de 22,18ºC a 37,35ºC. Já para 2001 a temperatura da superfície foi praticamente a mesma com e sem o MED. A radiação de onda longa incidente (RL↓) apresentou diferença de 32 Wm-2 em 2000 e 33 Wm-2 em 2001 em seus valores, com a aplicação da correção da radiância termal da superfície. Os valores instantâneos do saldo de radiação na superfície dos alvos preestabelecidos utilizando o MED, referente ao dia 04/12/2000 foram de P1 = 431,45 Wm-2 com uma inclinação de 7º direcionado para o nordeste; P2 = 543,33 Wm-2, com inclinação de 3º direcionada para o nordeste; P3 = 489,24 Wm-2 com inclinação de 14º direcionada para o sudeste e para P4 = 621,72 Wm-2 com inclinação de 9º direcionada para o sudeste. Os valores dos mesmos alvos referentes ao mesmo ano, sem a aplicação do MED, foram P1 = 424,81 Wm-2 P2 = 583,22 Wm-2, P3 = 546,0 Wm-2 e P4 = 719,25 Wm-2. Para o ano 2001, P1 = 312,63 Wm-2 com inclinação de 7º direcionada para o nordeste; P2 = 575,21 Wm-2 com inclinação de 1º e direção sudeste; P3 = 493,16 Wm-2 com inclinação de 2º com direção nordeste e finalmente P4 = 701,31 Wm-2 com inclinação de 1º direcionada para o sudeste). E sem a aplicação do MED foram de: P1 = 399,50 Wm-2, P2 = 618,0 Wm-2, P3 = 547,61 Wm-2 e P4 = 744,53 Wm-2. Os resultados do saldo de radiação estimados com a aplicação do MED, foram inferiores aos valores estimados sem o MED, mostrando a importância de se levar em consideração os efeitos topográficos na estimativa dos mesmos, já que a maior variação do saldo de radiação é causada pela topografia do local. The objective of this research was the determination of the surface radiation balance, by using images of TM - Landsat 5 and Digital Elevation Model. Two images, generated on December 04, 2000 and October 04, 2001, in the orbit 217 and point 67, were used in the study. The calculations were accomplished with and without the use of the Digital Elevation Model. The atmospheric transmissivity and the surface emissivity did not present significant variations, showing uniformity in both methods. The Normalized Difference Vegetation Index presented small variation among the methods. The albedo values with DEM were larger than the albedo without DEM in both years. They presented values between 6.9% to 46.4% for 2000; 4.1% to 42.0%, for 2001, with DEM and without DEM, 6.5% to 37.8%, for 2000 and 4.9% to 40%, for 2001. The surface temperature with DEM, for the 04/12/2000 varied from 22.74ºC to 35.80ºC and presenting values a little larger than the one without DEM, which presented variation from 22.18ºC to 37.35ºC. For 2001 the surface temperature was practically the same with and without DEM. The incident long wave radiation (RL) values presented difference of 32 Wm-2 in 2000 and 33 Wm-2 in 2001, with the correction of the surface thermal radiance. The instantaneous values of the surface net radiation for selected areas using MED for 04/12/2000 were: at P1, Rn = 431.45 Wm-2 with an inclination of 7o for northeast; at P2, Rn = 543.33 Wm-2, with inclination of 3o for northeast; at P3, Rn = 489.24 Wm-2 with inclination of 14o for southeast and at P4, Rn = 621.72 Wm-2 with inclination of 9o for southeast. The values of the same areas to the same year, without the application of DEM, were: at P1, Rn = 424.81 Wm-2; at P2, Rn = 583.22 Wm-2; at P3, Rn = 546.0 Wm-2; and at P4, Rn = 719.25 Wm-2. For 2001 year, at P1 Rn = 312.63 Wm-2 with inclination of 7o for northeast; at P2, Rn = 575.21 Wm-2 with inclination of 1o fro southeast; at P3, Rn = 493.16 Wm-2 with inclination of 2o for northeast; and at P4, Rn = 701.31 Wm-2 with inclination of 1o for the southeast.Without the application of DEM they were: at P1, Rn = 399.50 Wm-2; at P2, Rn = 618.0 Wm-2; at P3, Rn = 547.61 Wm-2; and at P4, Rn = 744.53 Wm-2. Os métodos de avaliação da nutrição minera! das plantas baseiam-se, em geral, na análise de solo, na análise de plantas, na diagnose visual e ou na avaliação das variáveis de produção. No caso do amendoim (Arac/i/s hypogaea L), a maioria das pesquisas têm suas respostas avaliadas em termos de variáveis de produção, Sendo assim, objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar os efeitos das diferentes doses de cálcio e de fósforo no amenrjoinzeiro cultivar BR-1, em condições de casa-de-vegetação; sobre as propriedades espectrais das folhas, variáveis de crescimento e desenvolvimento, produção e qualidade de produção. Três experimentos, denominados I, II e 111, foram conduzidos em casa-de-vegetação em delineamento de blocos ao acaso. Os experimentos I e II constaram de 20 tratamentos com três repetições e o experimento III constou de 15 tratamentos com quatro repetições, totalizando 60 unidades experimentais (ou vasos de 22 litros) em cada experimento. O experimento I Unha um esquema de análise fatortal 5x4, sendo os fatores cinco doses de cálcio (0; 300; 600; 900 e 1200kg de CaSO; /ha) e quatro doses de fósforo {0; 50; 100 e 150kg de PjGs /ha) e o experimento II avaliou o efeito residual do material do solo do experimento I. O experimenlD III tinha um esquema fatoria! de 3 x 5, sendo os fatores três doses de cálcio (0; 300 e 600kg de CaSCXj lha) e cinco doses de fósforo (0; 50; 100; 150 e 200kg de PjCVha). As doses de cálcio e fofósfo foram aplicadas em cobertura na semeadura, Os efeitos causados pela aplicação das doses de cálcio s de fósforo ao solo foram avaliados através de atributos de plantas (variáveis de crescimento, de desenvolvimento e agronômicas), das propriedades especiais das folhas (refiectância, tansmitâncla e absortàncía), do solo {propriedades químicas) e da análise folar. Na maioria das variáveis de desenvolvimento e crescimento analisadas (número de Hores, número de ginóforos, número de nódulos, fitomassa aérea e largura de vagens) a melhor dose de cálcio foi de 600kg/ha. A melhor dose de fósforo apresentou variações, mas o intervalo está situado entre 50 e 100kg/ha. Para as variáveis agronômicas: peso de vagens, peso de sementes perfeitas, número de vagens e número de vagens chochas, houve respostas benéficas com relação ás doses de cálcio, em que as duas primeiras variáveis a dose recomendada é de 300kg/ha e as duas últimas a dose deve ser em torno de 800kgíha. A exceção está apenas para o peso de sementes em que o cálcio não teve uma influência positiva, e para o teor de óleo em que não houve resposta significativa do cálcio. Em Iodas as variáveis, houve o efeito da adubação fosfatada, cujo valor enconlra-se no intervalo de 60 a 100kg/ha. No caso do teor de óleo a dose é de Okg/ha, pois o seu efeito não ê benéfico, O efeito residual obtido através das variáveis agronômicas e de desenvolvimento e crescimento apresentou valor médio do fator h de 0,050 para o cálcio e 0,151 para o fósforo. Na análise de crescimento verificou-se efeito significativo da Interação das doses de cálcio e das doses de fósforo para o diâmetro caulinar e a área foliar e das doses de fósforo para a altura. Entretanto, os diferentes tratamentos empregados não determinam variações substanciais no crescimento do amendoinzeíro. A ordem da absorção dos macronulrientes pelas folhas do amendoim foi cálcio, nitrogênio, potássio, magnésio e fósforo. No caso das características espectrais, as menores reflectãncias da folha correspondem ao tratamento em que a dose de cálcio é de 1200kgíha e a dose de fósforo è de 150kg/ha. Estes valores seriam as quantidades mais adequadas para colaborar com a natureza no processo de foiossiníese. Todavia, as doses de cálcio de 600kg/ha e fósforo de 100kgiha apresentaram valores intermediários entre as doses que apresentam os valores máximos e miramos de refiectância, indicando uma boa estabilidade e fases bem características do ciclo evolutivo do amendoim. Finalmente, as adubações cálcica e fosfatada aumentaram de forma considerável a produção do amendoim, principalmente pelo alto percentual do número de vagens. A adubação cálcica não exerceu influência e a fosfatada não exerceu efeito benéfico no teor de õiao da semente. As doses médias a serem recomendadas para o cálcio e o fósforo são SQGkg/ha e 10Okg/ha, respectivamente, considerando o CaSO* e o Pj05, que necessitam serem avaliadas em condições de campo. The understanding of the principles of sol fertility is essential for an efficient crop production and environmental protection. The evaluation methods of mineral nutrition of plants, in general, based on the soil analysis, plant analysis, visual diagnosis and or on the evaluation of the yield variables. In the case of the mineral nutrition of a peanut crop {Arachis hypogaea L.) most of the research work done had its responses evaluated in terms of yield variables. The objective of Shis research was to evaluate the effect of different levels of calcium and phosphorous on the leaf spectral properties, growth variables and development, production and quality of production of a peanut crop grown under greenhouse conditions. Three experiments were conducted in the greenhouse using a randomized block design. The first two experiments consisted of 20 treatments with 3 repetitions and the third experiment consisted of 15 treatments with 4 repetitions, totalizing 60 experimental units (60 pots of 22 liters each). The experiments I and 11 had a 5 x 4 factorial analysis scheme, with the factors being 5 levels of calcium (0; 300; 600; 900 and 1200 kg of CaSOi/ha) and 4 levels of phosphorous {0; 50; 100 and 150 kg of PaOs/ha) and the experiment II evaluated the residua! effect of the material of the soil of the experiment I. The third experiment had the factorial scheme of 3x5, with the factors being 3 levels of calcium £0; 300 e 600 kg oCaSO^ia and 5 levels of phosphorous (0; 50; 100; 150 and 200 k of PjO^a), The calcium and phosphorous doses were applied or? The resulfs of these applications were analyzed through the plant attributes (growth, development and agronomic variables), spectral properties of the leaves (reflectance, Iransmittance and absorptance), the soil chemical properties and the leaf analysis. In case of most of the growth and development variables analyzed (number of flowers, pegs, nodules, aerial phytomass and breadlh of peanul in shell), the calcium dose needed was of 600kg/ha. The best phosphorous dose presented variations, but the interval is placed between 50 and 100kg/ha. Pod and kernel weights responded well to the 300kg/ha calcium dose, The number of pods were more and the number of sterile pods were less for the 600kg/ha level of calcium, The total weight of the peanut kernels (normal kernels plus sterile kernels) did not respond well to the variations of calcium levels. The calcium content had no influence on the oil content of the peanuts. All the variables studied (except for the number of sterile pods and the oil content), responded well for the phosphorous treatment in the interval of 80 to 100kg of P2G$/ha. The oil content did not responded well to the variations in phosphorous. The residua! effects £h factor) were determined by using the agronomic, growth and development variables presented medium value of the factor h of 0,050 for calcium and 0,151 for phosphorous. In the growth analysis, the significant effect of the interaction of the levels of calcium and phosphorous were verified for the stem diameter and the leaf area and of the phosphorous doses for the height. However, the different treatments utilized did not determine substantial variations in the growth of the peanul crop. The order of absorption of ihe macronutrients, through the analysis of (he peanut leaves, were calcium, nitrogen, potassium, magnesium and phosphorous. In the case of spectral characteristics, the leaf reflectance was significantly decreased for the treatment in which the calcium level is 1200kg/ha and the phosphorous was 150kgma. These values would be the most appropriate amounts to collaborate with the nature in Ihe photosynthesis process. In general, the calcium level of 600kg/ba and phosphorous of 100kg/ha presented intermediate values of the leaf reflectance during the crop growth cycle, indicating a good stability and very characteristic phases of the evolutionary cycle of the peanut. The macronutrients of calcium and phosphorous considerably increased the peanut crop production, by increasing the number of pods. The calcium did no! exercise influence and phosphorus did not exercise beneficial effect in Ihe oil content. The study recommends the levels of 600kg/ha of calcium and 100kg/ha of phosphorous to be evaluated under the field conditions for growing the peanut crop.

Uma área com vegetação nativa - caatinga (6° 35' 49" S; 37° 14' 54" W) e outra reflorestada com algaroba (6° 36' 08" S; 37° 18* 31" W). O objetivo deste estudo foi comparar os balancos de radiação e energia da área de algaroba com a o da área de caatinga, durante dois períodos climáticos extremos: no verão, período de 01 a 31 de outubro de 1999 (período seco - onde apenas a algaroba permanece verde) e durante o período chuvoso, quando ambas as áreas estiveram completamente verde; de 09 de marco a 08 de abril de 2000. Para tanto, instalou-se duas torres micrometeorológicas: uma na área de caatinga com 8m e outra na área de algaroba com 14m. As aquisições de dados foram efetuados com microloggers 2IX, programados para realizarem leituras a cada segundo, e a partir dai calcularem medias a cada dez minutos. Os resultados obtidos mostraram, que embora principalmente no período seco os dois dosséis tivessem superfícies muito diferentes, a razão entre o saldo de radiação (Rn) e a radiação solar global (Kl), praticamente não apresentou diferença: no período seco nas áreas de caatinga e algaroba Rn representou 76,0 e 77,0% de Ki respectivamente, e durante o período chuvoso 77,1 e 78,3%. O aumento da umidade do solo na área de algaroba durante o período chuvoso, contribuiu para a diminuição do albedo nesta área. O fluxo de calor latente no período seco representou 96,7 e 104,2% do saldo de radiação nas áreas de caatinga e algaroba, respectivamente, e no período chuvoso 84,5 e 94,2%. Houve contribuição de energia por advecção de calor sensível durante todo o período seco, tanto na área de caatinga como na de algaroba. As regressões entre o saldo de radiação e a radiação solar global e entre o saldo de radiação e o fluxo de calor latente, para os dois períodos estudados, apresentaram ótimos coeficientes de correlação. The objective of this study was to compare the radiation and energy balance of the algaroba area with that of the caatinga area, during two extreme seasons: in summer, period of 01 to 31 of October, 1999 (dry period - where the algaroba remains green) and in the rainy period of March 09 to April 08, 2000 (when both the areas were completely green). For this purpose, two micrometeorological towers were built: one of 08 m in the caatinga area and another of 14 m in the algaroba area. The data were acquired with data loggers (Campbell 2IX) programmed to collect data at one second intervals and averaging it over a period of ten minutes. The results showed that, even though the two canopies had very different surfaces in summer, the ratio of the net radiation (Rn) to the global solar radiation (K.4-), piactically didn't show any difference: in the dry period over the caatinga and algaroba, Rn represented 76.0 and 77.0% of K l respectively, and during the rainy period the ratios were 77.1 and 78.3%. The increase in humidity of the soil in the algaroba area during the rainy period, contributed to the decrease in albedo. The latent heat flux in the dry period represented 96.7 and 104.2% of the net radiation over the caatinga and algaroba, respectively, and in the rainy period 84.5 and 94.2%. There was contribution of energy due to advection of sensible heat during whole dry period, over both the areas. The regressions between the net radiation and global solar radiation and between the net radiation and the latent heat flux, for the two periods studied, presented large correlation coefficients.

Essa análise foi realizada sob dois aspectos distintos: primeiramente, investigou-se a influência em grande escala, através do exame das correlações entre as anomalias de temperatura dos oceanos Atlântico e Pacífico em uma base global e as anomalias de volume para os três reservatórios principais do estado que foram Boqueirão de Cabaceiras, Coremas/Mãe D'água e Engenheiro Ávidos. Os resultados obtidos mostram que existem fortes correlações negativas entre as temperaturas superficiais do oceano Pacifico nas regiões denominadas NINO 1+2 e NIN03 e os volumes considerados. Considerando a influência dos sistemas de mesoescala sobre os volumes, observou-se a partir de histogramas de frequência da ocorrência de sistemas convectivos de mesoescala que a maior atividade desses sistemas ocorria no mês de março nas áreas dos reservatórios e que nos anos de El Nino essa atividade era bastante reduzida, com repercussão nos volumes mensais. Para se estimar qual a contribuição desses sistemas para o volume dos reservatórios, realizou-se um estudo de caso para a ocorrência de uma linha de instabilidade no mês de maio do ano de 1999, com estimativa do volume de água acrescentado aos reservatórios através da simulação da vazão correspondente, usando-se para isso dois modelos hidrológicos diários, sendo um global (Tank Model) e outro distribuído (NAVMO). Os resultados mostram que um volume considerável de água de um determinado reservatório é proveniente dos eventos de mesoescala. An analysis of the influence of the atmospheric large scale systems and mesoscale, on the deviations of the volumes of water stored in the main reservoirs of Paraíba in Northeast of Brazil is presented here. The analysis was accomplished under two different aspects: firstly, it was investigated through the nature of the correlations between the anomalies of the temperature of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans on a global base and the volume anomalies for the three main reservoirs of the state of Paraiba namely, Boqueirão , Coremas and Engenheiro Ávidos. The results show that strong negative correlations exist among the surface temperatures of the Pacific Ocean in the áreas denominated NINOl+2 and N1N03 and the considered volume anomalies. Considering the influence of the mesoscale convective systems on the volumes, the analysis of the histograms of frequency of the occurrence of these systems, that the largest activity of these systems occur in the month of March in the áreas of the reservoirs and that in El Nino years that activity is quite reduced, with large repercussions on the monthly volumes. To evaluate the contribution of those systems for the volume of the reservoirs, a case study of an occurrence in the month of May 1999, was made to estimate the volume of water contributed to the reservoirs through the simulation of the corresponding river discharge, two hydrologic daily flow models, being one global (Tank Model) and another distributed (NAVMO) were used for simulating the flow. The results show that the mesoscale systems that occur on the area of the reservoirs are responsible for the contribution of signifícant volumes.

Assim, com os valores estimados de precipitação decendial nos níveis acima citados, foi determinada a precipitação efetiva (PE) decendial utilizando-se o método da razão entre a evapotranspiração potencial e a precipitação total. As necessidades hídricas das culturas utilizadas nesse estudo foram obtidas através do coeficiente de cultura. Do produto entre o coeficiente de cultura e a Evapotranspiração Potencial decendial. obteve-se a evapotranspiração real máxima decendial, que subtraída da precipitação efetiva decendial. estimou a necessidade de irrigação suplementar decendial. De acordo com aptidões e necessidades hídricas das culturas do feijão, milho, tomate e algodão, elaboraram-se tabelas para cada decêndio da estação de cultivo das sub-regiões do Alto Oeste e Baixo Oeste e as Mesorregiões Central, Agreste e Leste Potiguar com os valores estimados da necessidade de irrigação suplementar. Os resultados mostraram que na mesorregião Leste Potiguar o consumo de água com irrigação suplementar nas culturas do feijão, milho, tomate e algodão, foi menor do que o valor gasto nas outras regiões. Considerando-se o nível de 75% de probabilidade de precipitação, todas as culturas analisadas necessitam de irrigação suplementar. Das culturas estudadas, o feijão foi a que menos água necessitou durante o ciclo fenológico em todas as mesorregiões estudadas. The estimated values of the precipitation at 80%, 75%, 60%, 50% and 25% probability levels were determined by employing the Incomplete Gamma Probability Distribution using the spacial averages of ten day precipitation totals of each meso-region of the state of Rio Grande do Norte, which is situated in the northeast of Brazil. The temperature estimates were used to calculate the potential évapotranspiration (ETP) using the methodology described by Thornthwaite (1948). The effective precipitation values were determined from the estimated values of ten day precipitation at different probability levels. The irrigation needs of the crops were obtained by using the crop coefficient values (Kc) suggested by Doorenbos and Kassam (1979) among other researchers. The methodology suggested by Dastane (1974) which employs the ratio between the potential évapotranspiration and the estimated precipitation was used to determine the effective precipitation (PE). The actual ten day potential évapotranspiration (ETRd) was obtained from the product of the crop coefficient (Kc) and the ten day potential évapotranspiration (ETPd). The supplimentary irrigation needs for ten day periods wthin the crop growing season were obtained by subtracting the effective precipitation values from the ten day actual évapotranspiration values. Depending on the aptness and water needs of the bean, corn, tomato and cotton crops, tables of the estimated values of the supplimentary irrigation needs are prepared for each of the ten day periods during the growing season in the sub-regions of "Alto Oeste" and "Baixo Oeste" and in the mesoregions of "Central, Agreste" and "Leste Potiguar" were prepared. The results show that the supplimentary irrigation needs of the four crops mentioned earlier are lesser in the meso-region of "Leste Potiguar' when compared with the other meso-regions studied in this research. All the crops studied needed the supplimentary irrigation when the precipitation at 75% probability level was considered. Of all the crops studied, the bean crop needed the minimum amount of water during its phenological cycle, irrespective of the region studied.

Foram utilizados dados climatológicos mensais e diários para estimativa da evapotranspiração potencial segundo as formulações de Thornthwaite (1948), Jensen e Haise (1963) e de Caselles et al. (1992b) e que foram usadas na inicialização de um modelo hidrológico global. Os dados de radiação solar global, de setembro de 1997, foram obtidos a partir de um modelo de estimativa da radiação solar (GL 1.0) que utiliza informações obtidas do canal VIS do GOES-8. Também foram utilizados dados hidrológicos de precipitação e vazão dos rios referentes às subbacias 37 e 38 da Bacia Hidrográfica 3. localizada na região Nordeste do Brasil. A metodologia foi dividida nas seguintes etapas: 1) regionalização espacial da evapotranspiração potencial obtida pelo método de WARD, disponível no software SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences), 2) correlação dos valores de ETP estimados pelo método de Jensen e Haise - MJH (1963), Caselles et al. - MCA (1992) e o método de Penman - MP(1948), respectivamente; 3) teste de sensibilidade das formulações empíricas propostas por Jensen e Haise (1963) e Caselles et al. (1992) em função das variações da radiação solar global à superfície e da temperatura do ar. 4) simulação do modelo hidrológico geral para as sub-bacias 37 e 38, considerando diferentes métodos de estimativa de ETP (MT. MJH e MCA) e avaliação do coeficiente de ajuste de estimativa da ETP; e, 5) estimativa da evapotranspiração real (ETR), umidade do solo (US) e vazão (V) utilizando o MHG, o MCA e os dados de radiação solar global à superfície determinados a partir do modelo GL 1.0. O MHG foi desenvolvido para América do Sul com uma resolução espacial de 0.5° x 0,5°. Os testes de sensibilidade mostraram que os métodos de estimativas de ETP influenciam o cálculo das vazões, nas regiões onde a precipitação apresentam valores próximos de ETP. As estimativas de ETR. US e V, a partir do modelo hidrológico, apresentaram resultados satisfatórios, com erros percentuais até 20%, quando utilizados dados de satélite. In this research. the impact of the estimated potential evapotranspiration (ETP) on river discharge. actual evapotranspiration and soil humidity. which were determined by using a general hydrological model (GMH) is evaluated. The daily and monthly climatological data were used to estimate the potential evapotranspiration by means of the empirical equations and also to initialize the hydrological model. The global solar radiation data for the month of September. 1997 was obtained from the global solar radiation estimation model. GL 1.0. The model GL 1.0 utilizes the data from the VIS channel of GOES-8. Also used were the hydrological data of precipitation and river discharge of the sub-basins 37 and 38 of the hydrographic basin 3 which is located in the Northeast Brazil. The methodology involved the following steps: 1) spatial regionalization of the potential evapotrasnpiration using the method of WARD which is available on SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) software: 2) corrclation bctween the potential evapotranspiration values estimated from the methods of Jensen & Haise - MJH (1963). Foi proposto um método de regionalização pluvial, e o mesmo foi aplicado a dados pluviais mensais de 175 postos, o que ensejou a identificação de três grupos pluvialmente homogêneos, sendo o grupo 1 (105 postos) predominantemente semiárido. Comparou-se tais grupos com as sete regiões climáticas reconhecidas pela Fundação Cearense de Meteorologia e Recursos Hídricos (FUNCEME) e constatou-se que o método foi capaz de identificar as regiões Ibiapaba e Cariri, bem como a área formada pelas regiões Centro-leste e Centro-oeste e a formada pelas regiões Litoral Norte e Litoral Sul. O método também foi aplicado a dados do Estado da Paraíba, e os grupos regionais obtidos são coerentes com os de Bastos (1986), Silva (1989) e Braga & Silva (1990). Também identificou-se a estação chuvosa (EC) em cada posto do Estado do Ceará, mediante a utilização do método de Frère & Popov (1979). Constatatou-se que em 143 (81.71%) dos 175 postos, a EC ocorre de janeiro a maio, e que em 69 (65.71%) dos 105 postos do grupol ela ocorre de fevereiro a maio. Por fim, verificou-se a probabilidade de ocorrência de veranicos nos três decêndios (dias 1 a 10, 11 a 20 e 21 ao último dia do mês) dos meses de janeiro a junho, nos 105 postos do grupo 1. E, constatou-se uma probabilidade grupai média de 51, 39 e 25%, no primeiro, segundo e terceiro decêndio de janeiro; 20, 18 e 21% em fevereiro; 10, 7 e 6% em março; 9, 10 e 11 em abril; 25, 25 e 28% em maio e de 38, 43 e 51% em junho. The objective of research is to contribute with the technical information which is necessary for the solution of the socio-economic problem developed due to the climatic adversities in the Ceará State. A rainfall regionalization method is proposed and is applied to the monthly precipitation data of 175 localities of the Ceará State. It resulted in the identification of three homogeneous precipitation groups, group 1 being predominantly semi-arid. Such groups were compared with the seven climatic regions recognized by Fundação Cearense de Meteorologia e Recursos Hídricos (FUNCEME) and is verified that the method is capable of identifying the Ibiapaba and Cariri regions, as well as the area formed by the East central and West central regions and the area formed by the coastal regions of North and South. The method is also applied to the data of the Paraíba State and the regions obtained are consistent with those obtained by Bastos (1986), Silva (1989) and Braga & Silva (1990). Also identified is the rainy season (EC) for all the localities of the Ceará State utilizing the method Frère & Popov (1979). It is also verified that 143 (81.71%) out of the 175 localities, the EC occurs from January to May and in 69 (65.71%) of the 105 localities of group 1, the rainy season occurs from February to May. Finally, the daily precipitation data are used to verify the probability of occurrence of the dry spells in the three ten-day poriods (days 1 to 10, 11 to 20 and 21 to the last day of the month) for the months of January to June and for all the 105 locations of the group 1. And it is found that the mean probability of having a dry spell in the first, second and third 10 day-periods of the month of January is 51, 39 and 25%; in February it is 20, 18 and 21%; in March 10, 7 and 6%; in April 9, 10 and 11%; in May 25, 25 and 28%; and in June 38, 43 and 51%.

Para isso, foram usados totais decendiais de chuva de 63 estações pluviométricas do estado de Pernambuco e dados de temperaturas médias mensais de treze estações meteorológicas. Os dados faltosos temperatura foram estimados através de um modelo de função quadrática com base nas coordenadas locais. A evapotranspiração potencial para cada localidade foi conseguida através do cálculo do balanço hídrico de Thornthwaite & Mather. As probabilidades de ocorrência de chuva foram calculadas utilizando-se a função de probabilidade Gama e o método de Kimball. Os dois Índices de disponibilidade hídrica para a região, o índice MAI, (que relaciona a precipitação confiável e a evapotranspiração potencial), o índice semanal de disponibilidade de água R (definido como a razão entre a evaporação real e a evapotranspiração potencial) e o coeficiente de assimetria de Pearson foram calculados e analisados na forma de gráficos e mapas. Os resultados do trabalho mostraram que o índice de disponibilidade hídrica R foi eficaz na caracterização dos regimes hídricos da região. As metodologias do índice MAI e do coeficiente de assimetria não se mostraram adequadas para a representação dos regimes hídricos do estado de Pernambuco. No Estado de Pernambuco, apenas as regiões do Leste do Estado (entre as longitudes de 37,2 °W e 34,9° W) e do Norte (entre 40,7° W: 7,7° N e 37,9° W: 7,4° N), apresentam disponibilidade hídrica para prática de culturas com o ciclo vegetativo de duração igual ou inferior a 120 dias. O resto do Estado não apresenta condições de disponibilidade hídrica apropriadas para a prática agrícola sem irrigação suplementar. Os resultados aqui apresentados têm como objetivo primário contribuir de forma direta com o planejamento de recursos hídricos voltado à cultura no Estado de Pernambuco. An agroclimatic classification of the Pernambuco State based on water deficit índices (R and MAI) and the Identification of the homogeneous rainfall regions based on the asymmetry coefficient of Pearson are propcsed in this work. For this purpose the ten-day precipitation totais of 63 locations and the monthly temperature means of 13 locations in the State of Pernambuco are used. The missing temperature data was estimated by a quadratic function based on local coordinates. The potential evapotranspiration for each locality was obtained through the Thornthwaite & Mathers water balance procedures. The precipitation probabilities were calculated using the Gamma probabiiity function and the Kimbairs method. The moisture availability index MAI (ratio of dependable precipitation to potential evapotranspiration) and the weekly water availability index R (ratio of actual evapotranspiration to potential evapotranspiration) and the Pearson asymmetry coefficient, were calculated and analyzed graphically. The results of this work show that the R index was an efficient methodology to define the regions water regimes. The MAI index and the asymmetry coefficient methodologies were not adequate to represent the regions water regimes of Pernambuco state. The Pernambuco state has sufficient water availability to crops with upto 120 days of vegetativa cycle, in the eastern parts of the state ( between the longitudes of 37,2° W and 34,9° W) and in the North (between 40,7°W: 7,7°N and 37,9°W: 7,4°N). The rest of the state has no conditions of water availability to agricultural practices without suplementary irrigation. The results presented here, have the primary objective of contributing directly to the water resources planning towards agricufture in the State of Pernambuco.

Teve como objetivo estudar o comportamento morfológico e fisiológico da cultura do algodão herbáceo (Gossypium hirsutum r. latifolium) irrigada e estressada, no semi-árido do Nordeste do Brasil. Avaliou-se a resistência estomática ao fluxo de vapor d'água para a atmosfera, biomassa, altura da cultura, índice de área foliar e produtividade. O delineamento experimental constou de duas parcelas: tratamento PI não estressado e tratamento Pll - estressado. A partir do trigésimo quinto dia após a semeadura, iniciou-se o monitoramento do comportamento dos parâmetros morfológicos (altura, área foliar, peso verde e peso seco) e fisiológicos (resistência estomática, taxa de transpiração e temperatura da folha). No monitoramento do comportamento fisiológico foi utilizado um porômetro de equilíbrio dinâmico (LI-1600 da LI-COR). A lâmina de irrigação aplicada no tratamento estressado (Pll) pode ter sido o principal responsável pelas diferenças observadas nos parâmetros morfológicos e fisiológicos estudados. A temperatura da folha no tratamento estressado mostrou-se significativamente maior do que na condição bem irrigada. Nas irrigações administradas após uma situação de forte estresse hídrico a cultura não restabeleceu os valores de transpiração, temperatura da folha e condutância estomática, apresentados na condição bem irrigada. A redução verificada na produtividade da cultura no tratamento estressado, que alcançou 18% daquela obtida em PI, não estressado, também resultou do turno de rega e das lâminas d'água aplicados em Pll. The field experiment was conducted in the Experimental Station of the Rio Grande do Norte Agricultural Research Company (EMPARN), at Ipanguassu-RN. The objective of this study was to analyse the morphological and physiological behavior of the cotton (Gossypium hirsutum r. latifolium) crop well watered and stressed, grows in the North-East of Brazil semi-arid region. The experimental treatment included two parcels: a non stressed (PI) and a stressed treatments. The physiological parameters analysed were canopy stomatal resistance, biomass, crop heigth, leaf area index and crop productivity. The behavior of the morphological (crop heigth, leaf area index and green and dry weights) and physiological (stomatal resistance, transpiration rate and leaf temperature) startered been observed in the 35th day after emergence. The crop physiological behavior was observed with a dynamic equilibrium porometer (LI-1600 from LI-COR). The irrigation water amount applied in the stressed treatment (Pll) can may been the main cause for the observed differences in the morphological and pysiological parameters. The leaf temperature in the stressed treatment was significantly greater than that of the well watered one. When irrigation was applied after a situation of strong stress, the crop did not restored the standard values of transpiration, leaf temperature and stomatal conductance showed in a well watered condition. The productivity reduction observed in the stressed treatment, wich reached 18% of that of the non stressed one, was also a result of the irrigation scheduling and the water amount applied in the Pll treatment.

Em seguida, determinou - se a precipitação efetiva pelo método da razão entre a evapotranspíração potencial e a precipitação (FAO, DASTANE, 1974 ) . A análise da estação de crescimento foi analisada de acordo com o critério proposto por FRERE & POPOV ( 1979). A evapotranspiração potencial (ETP) foi estimada pelo método descrito por THORNTHWAITE & MATHER (1955), enquanto que as necessidades hídricas das culturas foram obtidas através do coeficiente de cultivo (Kc) sugeridos por DOOREMBOS & KASSAN (1979) e por pesquisadores locais. A evapotranspiração real máxima (ETR) foi calculada pelo produto do coeficiente de cultivada cultura e da evapotranspiração potencial, enquanto que a necessidade de irrigação suplementar decendial (NISD) foi obtida subtraindo - se a precipitação efetiva (PE) da evapotranspiração real máxima decendial (ETRd). Foram elaboradas tabelas para cada decêndio da estacão de cultivo do Sertão, Agreste, Zona da Mata e Litoral alagoano com a precipitação efetiva decendial, precipitação pluviométrica decendial e lâmina, de irrigação suplementar decendial para as culturas do feijão, milho, tomate, batata e algodão de acordo com suas aptidões e necessidades. Amesorregião mais adequada ao plantio do algodão foi o Sertão com o plantio em maio, necessitando de 214,7 mm de água. E para as culturas do feijão, milho, tomate e batata,a mesorregião mais adequada ao plantio foi o litoral, necessitando as culturas o mínimo de água para suprir suas necessidades hídricas. A considerar — se o nível de 75% de probabilidade, todas as culturas analisadas necessitaram de se efetuar irrigação suplementar. The supplimentary irrigation need for the 10 day periods is estimated with the help of probabilistic analyss at therisk levels of 80%, 75%, 60%, 50% and 25%, by fitting an incomplete gamma: distribution function to the spacial averages of precipitation data for each of the mesoregions in the State of Alagoas. The effective precipitation is determined by using the ratio between the potential evapotranspiration and precipitation (PAO, DASTANE,1974) . the analysis of the growing season was performed in accordance with the criteria proposed by FRERE and POPQv (1979).The potential evapotranspiration (ETP) was estimated using the method described by Thornthwaite & Mather (1955), whereas the water needs of the crops were obtained through the crop coefficients recommended by Doorembos S Kassan (1979). The actual evapotranspiration (ETR) was calulated as the product of the crop coefficient and the potential evapotranspiration. The suppÎimentary irrigation need on a 10- day basis (NISD) was obtained by subtracting the effective precipitation (PE) from the actual evapotranspiration obtained from the 10~day, periods (ETRd).Tables of effective precipitation, precipitation totals. and the deptho-F supplimentary irrigation, all - for the periods o f 10-days, were elaborated for the different crops and f or different regions of the State of Alagoas. The masoregion which is more appropriate for planting cottonis " Sertão " with the planting date in the beginning of May, and needs 214.7 mm of irrigation. The mesoregion which is adequate for planting the beans, corn, sweet potato and tomato crops is the " Litoral " region requiring the minimum amount of supplimentary irrigation It was noted that at the 75% probability level, all the crops considered need supplimentary irrigation .

Objetivou acompanhar o comportamento do algodoeiro herbáceo(Gossypium hirsutum, r. latifolium, cultivar CNPA precoce 1) cultivado em condições de irrigaçáo numa parcela de 8.000m e espaçamento de l,0m entre fileiras e 0,20m entre covas. Os valores medidos dos componentes do balanço de radiação foram comparados àqueles obtidos com o emprego de fórmulas empíricas convencionais, visando ao ajuste das equações de estimativas às condições locais. A radiação solar global incidente e refletida (R3) e o saldo de radiação (Rjq) foram registrados de forma contínua e medidos instantaneamente a intervalos de trinta minutos. Foram também monitoradas, a intervalos horários, as temperaturas dos termômetros de bulbo seco e úmido, temperatura da folhagem e as temperaturas máxima e mínima diárias. A altura da cultura(h) e o índice de área foliar(IAF) foram determinados a cada três dias. A reflectância da vegetação variou de 0,14 no inicio das observações a 0,25 no final da fase de crescimento vegetativo, decrescendo em seguida para atingir 0,21 ao final do ciclo da cultura. As melhores estimativas da radiação atmosférica (R^) foram obtidas com as equações que levam em consideração simultaneamente a temperatura do ar e a pressão parcial do vapor d'água no ar. A equação de Penman (1948), apresentou os melhores resultados na estimativa do saldo de radiação, principalmente quando ajustada às condições locais. This research employed data from a field experiment conducted in the LAJAT/DNOCS Experimental Station, in the irrigation settlement of São Gonçalo, Sousa-Pb. Its objective was to study the behaviour of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum r. latifolium, cultivar CNPA early 1) crop, grown under irrigated conditions in a 8.000m plot planted in a 1.00m row spacing and with 0.20m between plants. The measured components of the radiation balance were compared to those obtained from conventional empirical formulae, with the purpose of adjusting the estimation equations to the local conditions. The global solar radiation (rS)Í reflected solar radiation (RÍ;) and net radiation (%j) were continuosly registered and measured instantaneouly at 30 minute intervals. Hourly measurements of dry and wet bulb temperatures, canopy temperature and maximum and minimum daily temperatures were also obtained. The canopy height (h) and leaf area index (LAI) were measured at three days interval. The canopy reflectance varied from 0.14 at the beginning of the growing season to 0.25 at the end of the growning phase and then decreased to 0.21 at the end of the crop cicle. The best estimate of the atmospheric radiation (RT)• was obtained from those equations which take into account simultaneouly air temperature and water vapor pressure in the air. Penman's equation presented the best results for predicting net radiation, especially when adjusted tp the local conditions.

O trabalho foi realizado na área experimental do CPATSA/EMBRAPA-Petrolina-PE com o objetivo de verificar a possibilidade de monitoramento de estresse hídrico no milho utilizando uma técnica simples e confiável que emprega os princípios da termometria infravermelha. O delineamento experimental consistiu de blocos casualjzados com quatro tratamentos e três repetições, onde cada parcela ocupou uma área de 76,8 m2 (I2m x6,4m). A irrigação foi feita por sulcos, fechados nas extremidades, através de mangueiras e com auxílio do hidrômetro, e até trinta dias aproximadamente, após o plantio, todas as parcelas foram mantidas na mesma condição de suprimento d'água. Os dados de umidade do solo, fenologia e morfologia da cultura, biomassas fresca e seca, área foliar, resistência estomatal, temperaturas da cobertura foliar, das folhas e do ar foram coletados durante o ciclo da cultura. Os índices de estresses diário, de estresse térmico, e a variação de temperatura da cobertura foliar foram utilizados para monitoramento de estresse hídrico. A análise de crescimento foi feita através da taxa de assimilação líquida. The field experiment was conducted in 1986 to study the general response of maize (Zea mays L.), "jatinam C3 anão" variety, subjected to four different levels of irrigation (100%, 75%, 50% and 25% of field capacity). This research was conducted at the field research laboratory which belongs to CPATSA/EMBRAPA, Petrolina-PE. The objective was to verify the possibility at monitoring the water stress in maize using a simple and more reliable technique that employs the principles of infrared thermometry. The experimental design consisted of a randomized block design with four irrigation treatments andthree replications. Each experimental unit occupied an area of 76,8 m2 (12 m x 6,4 m). The irrigation system consisted of furrows closed at their extremities and the amount of irrigation was vo1 umetrica 1 1y controlled by means of a simple water meter. The irrigation treatmens were applied after about thirty days of painting. Prior to the application of the irrigation treatments all the plots were maintained at the field capacity. Soil moisture, crop phenology and morphology, fresh and dry biomass, leaf area, stomatal resistence, air, leaf and canopy temperature data vie re collected during the crop cycle. The daily stress index, the thermal stress index and the canopy temperature variation were utilized in monitoring the water stress. The growth analysis was perfomed using the net assimilation rate.

Foram consideradas as estações Climatológicas de Campina Grande - PB, São Gonçalo - PB e Surubim - PE e as estações Agrometeorológicas de Bebedouro e Mandacaru, respectivamente em Pernambuco e Bahia. As medidas foram realizadas nos horários de 12:00, 18:00 e 24:00 TMG, sob diferentes condições de tempo, em solo nu e nas profundidades de 02, 05, 10, 20, 30, 50 e 100 cm. A partir dos dados obtidos, determinou-se as propriedades térmicas em diferentes tipos de solo em diferentes profundidades térmicas em diferentes tipos de solo em diferentes profundidades ou camadas. Dentre tais propriedades, destacam-se as seguintes: amplitude e fase das ondas de temperatura a diferentes profundidades, para os 5 primeiros harmônicos da série de Fourier, ciclo anual; difusividades térmica; profundidade de amortecimento e velocidade de penetração da onda de temperatura. Estudou-se, ainda, o comportamento térmico de um Latossolo de textura argilo arenosa, com cobertura vegetal e irrigado por cápsulas porosas sob diferentes condições de pressão hidrostática. Neste último caso, os sensores foram instalados às profundidades de 15, 30 e 60 cm e obtidos registros diários da temperatura. Os valores apresentados pela difusividade térmica, profundidade de amortecimento e velocidade de penetração da onda de temperatura dos solos estudados, são compatíveis com os da literatura. The thermal behavior of different soil types in the nprthest of Brazil was studied by means of the harmonic analysis technique. The soil temperature data were collected at three climatological stations (Campina Grande - PB, São Gonçalo - PB and Surubim - PE) and two agricultural meteorological stations (Bebedouro - PE and Mandacaru - BA). The temperature data were obtained at 1200, 1800 and 2400 GMT for the depths of 02, 05, 10, 20, 30, 50 and 100cm. Using this data the thermal properties such as the annual amplitude an fase of the first five harmonics of the Fourier series, the damping depth and the elocity of propagation of the temperature wave were determined. The thermal diffusivity values for different players were calculated using the amplitude and fase information of the annual cycle for all the five stations mentioned above. The thermal behavior of the soil under corn crop subjected two different hydrostatic pressures was also studied and compared with that of an adjacent bare soil location. For this part of the study the daily soil temperature data were obtained at three different depths (15, 30 an 60 cm) by means of distant thermographs. The values of thermal diffusivity, damping depth, velocity of propagation, etc... obtained for different soil in the northest of Brazil are in reasonable agreement with those found in the literature.

Estes regimes de precipitação delimitam regiões com características c1 ima to 1ogicamente semelhantes do ponto de vista da distribuição temporal das chuvas. Com base na curva média da distribuição da precipitação de cada sub-regime, determinaram-seas estações "chuvosa" e "úmida" pelo método dos percentuais relativos ã semana mais chuvosa. Estimaram-se valores de temperatura médias mensais para aquelas Estações onde apenas disponham de dados de precipitação, através de regressão múltipla onde a temperatura é uma função das coordenadas geográficas: latitude (Ø) , longitude (λ) e altitude (Z). A temperatura média anual foi obtida pela média aritmétrica das temperaturas médias mensais. Utilizando-se dessas temperaturas médias anuais, estimou-se a temperatura média diária pelo método da análise harmônica, cujos coeficientes harmônicos são estimados com base nas séries de temperatura diária compensada das cinco Estações com dados disponíveis. A evapotranspiração potencial foi então estimada, para períodos semanais, com base no método proposto por THORNTHWAITE & MATHER (1955) . Com as curvas anuais médias de evapotranspiração potencial e precipitação, representativas de cada sub-regime,determinou-se as estações de cultivo potencial (ECP) e a época de plantio (EP) para as culturas de arroz, milho e sorgo, levando-se em consideração o GDA(ECP) para uma temperatura base de 10°C e as faixas de requerimentos térmicos de cada uma dessa s culturas. Using the annual distribution of weekly mean precipitation, obtained from the daily precipitation data with more than 30 years of observations for Paraíba state, five regi mes and twelve sub-regimes of precipitation were identified. These precipitation regimes are characterized by limiting re gions c1 ima to 1ogica 11y similar from the point of view of the temporal rain distribution. The precipitation mean curve for each regime was used for determining the so called "rainy" and "humid" seasons by the method of the percentages relatives to the most rainy week. Mean monthly temperatures, for these stations having precipitation data only, were estimated through a multi pie regression in which the temperature is a function of the local coordenates: latitude (Ø) , longitude (λ) and altitude (Z). The annual mean temperature was obtained as the arithmetic mean of the monthly mean values. These annual mean temperatures were used for estimating the corresponding daily values, em ploying the harmonic analysis method. The harmonic coefficients were estimated on the basis of the daily temperature data a_ vailable for five stations. The weekly potencial evapotranspira tion values were then estimated by the method proposed by THORNTHWAI TE & MATHER, 1955.
