In recent years, computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) have been driving the development and reform of the dental field. Prosthodontics is an essential part of oral medicine, and CAD/CAM is increasingly being used in prosthodontics, leading to rapid advancements in this field. Objectives: Some small defects may remain in the impression after making a two-step putty-light body impression. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the dimensional accuracy of 2-step and relined 2-step (3-step) puttylight body impressions. Materials and Methods: In this in vitro study, 30 impressions were made with putty, light body, and extra-light body addition silicone materials using the 2-step and 3-step impression techniques (N=15). An epoxy resin master model was made duplicating a maxillary typodont with left first premolar and first molar teeth prepared with a shoulder finish line and truncated pyramidalshaped indices in the mid-palate and third molar sites. In addition to creating a reference digital model by scanning the master model, 30 master casts were scanned to produce digital models. The anteroposterior (AP) and cross-sectional (CS) dimensional accuracy of the models were compared with the master model using linear measurements. Moreover, tooth size measurements were made and compared using the root mean square (RMS). Two-sample t-test was applied to analyze the data (a=0.05). Results: The mean AP and RMS differences between the two study groups were not significant (P>0.05). However, the CS difference between the two groups was significant (P<0.001), and the 3-step impression technique showed smaller discrepancies in comparison to the master model. Conclusion: There was no significant difference in accuracy of the two techniques for single-unit and multiple-unit preparations. The 3-step impression technique had a higher CS dimensional accuracy. Aim of the study was to investigate patients` initial motivation of presenting themselves in the dental office and analyzing patients` satisfaction in cases of prosthodontic restorations or rehabilitation. By correct assessment of patients` initial motivation, needs and also by incorporating knowledge based information into the treatment plan, we can increase the level of satisfaction long term, both on the side of patients in need and for doctors who get to perform their work ethically and satisfactory. Material and method: We put together a questionnaire intended to patients with a history with prosthodontic treatments which included 3 different categories of questions: general aspects, scenario type questions and patients` satisfaction scale. We carried out the statistical analysis once we had 100 responses. Results: The sample includes 100 participants, 66 women and 34 men. Most prevalent age category is 18-30 years old. Women go to periodic dental check-ups more often than men (p value = 0.048) and have more rigorous routine of dental hygiene (p=0.002). 45% of participants take into consideration a dental check-up only in emergency situations. Women often cite aesthetic reasons when presenting to the dental office, and men more often are interested in functionality, p=0.001. 76% of the interviewed patients remember a premature extraction in their personal history. Conclusions: Analysis of patients’ motivation and their satisfaction is indispensable for a successful, long-term, sustainable prosthetic treatment.

INTRODUCTION. Recent neuroimaging studies suggest that dental loss replacements induce changes in neuroplasticity as well as in correlated connectivity between brain networks. However, as the typical temporal delay in detecting brain activity by neuroimaging cannot account for the influence one neural system exerts over another in a context of real activation (“effective” connectivity), it seems of interest to approach this dynamic aspect of brain networking in the time frame of milliseconds by exploiting electroencephalographic (EEG) data. MATERIAL AND METHODS. The present study describes one subject who received a new prosthodontic provisional implant in substitution for previous dental repairs. Two EEG sessions led with a portable device were recorded before and after positioning the new dental implant. By following MATLAB-EEGLAB processing supported by the plugins FIELDTRIP and SIFT, the independent component analysis (ICA) derived from EEG raw signals was rendered as current density fields and interpolated with the dipoles generated by each electrode for a dynamic study of the effective connectivity. One more recording session was undertaken six months after the placement of the final implant. RESULTS. Compared to the baseline, the new prosthodontic implant induced a novel modulation of the neuroplasticity in sensory-motor areas which was maintained following the definitive implant after six months, as revealed by changes in the effective connectivity from the basal strong enslavement of a single brain area over the others, to an equilibrate inter-related connectivity evenly distributed along the frontotemporal regions of both hemispheres. CONCLUSIONS. The rapid shift of the effective connectivity after positioning the new prosthodontic implant and its substantial stability after six months suggest the possibility that synaptic modifications, induced by novel sensory motor conditions, modulate the neuroplasticity and reshape the final dynamic frame of the interarea connectivity. Moreover, given the viability of the EEG practice, this approach could be of some interest in assessing the association between oral pathophysiology and neuronal networking.

Objective: This prospective study assessed the number and reasons for post‐treatment visits due to prosthodontic complications in patients treated with three types of implant treatment for the edentulous mandible. Methods: Study groups comprised patients treated with single‐implant overdenture (G‐I; n = 11), 2‐implant overdenture (G‐II; n = 13), and 4‐implant fixed prosthesis (G‐III; n = 13). Programmed recall visits occurred at the 6‐, 12‐ and 36‐month follow‐ups. The management of prosthodontic complications occurred continuously in unscheduled appointments. Data analysis included calculation of incidence rates, chi‐square and Kruskal‐Wallis tests, and Poisson regression with robust error variance to model the occurrence of visits due to prosthodontic complications. Results: There were 89 unscheduled appointments during the entire follow‐up period, ranging from 0 to 7 (mean = 2.41; SD = 2.2) per patient. No between‐group differences were found regarding the frequency of unscheduled visits. However, the duration of the appointments (scheduled and unscheduled) was significantly higher for G‐III (p <.001). The length of follow‐up was the only predictor of the number of post‐insertion visits (p =.004). The frequency of prosthodontic events was higher for G‐I and G‐II compared to G‐III (p <.001). Nearly half of the events in G‐I and G‐II were matrix replacements, and artificial teeth fracture was more frequent in G‐III. Conclusions: All patients were at risk of post‐delivery prosthodontic complications and required regular recall visits to achieve satisfactory function and to prevent further problems. Overdentures required higher rates of maintenance visits, particularly for replacement of the retentive inserts, while fixed implant prostheses required longer clinical times for management of complications when compared to overdentures. Abstract Background The craniofacial developmental abnormality can significantly complicate the oral rehabilitation of patients with oligodontia. This case report describes an interdisciplinary approach that took 7 years to successfully treat a young patient with non-syndromic oligodontia and midface deficiency. Case presentation A 14-year-old patient with complex oral and maxillofacial conditions and diagnosis of oligodontia presented to our clinic. In addition to 4 retained deciduous teeth and congenitally missing 10 permanent teeth, dentofacial findings included maxillary and malar deficiency with a concave facial profile, Angle Class III malocclusion, and poor dental esthetics. The interdisciplinary treatment included pre-surgical orthodontic decompensation, high Le Fort I maxillary osteotomy, postsurgical orthodontic therapy, osseous ridge augmentation using recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2), interim removable partial denture, dental implant installation, interim implant prostheses, and final prosthetic rehabilitation. Conclusions The successful treatment of patients with oligodontia and complex dentofacial abnormalities requires the close and orderly collaboration among orthodontist, oral maxillofacial surgeon, and prosthodontist. Within the limitations of this case report, presented interdisciplinary approaches may optimize the oral rehabilitation outcome in patients with similar clinical challenges. A prospective clinical investigation is desired to verify the benefit of presented interdisciplinary approach.

Objectives: Endocrown restorations were introduced for endodontically treated teeth as a conservative treatment. However, data about the effect of preparation design on marginal integrity and fracture resistance of endocrowns are lacking. The purpose of this systematic review was to investigate the effect of preparation design of endocrown restorations on marginal integrity and fracture resistance. Materials and Methods: Based on PICO question and the search terms, PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and the Cochrane Library were searched. After including studies matched to predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, the extracted data were tabulated in a table provided by the authors. Two reviewers assessed the methodological quality of each included study independently. Ten articles were selected for extracting the quantitative data. All included studies were in vitro. The potential risk of bias of the selected studies was assessed using the modified MINORS scale. Results: Four studies assessed the marginal adaptation, five studies evaluated the fracture resistance and just one investigated both the marginal integrity and fatigue resistance of the specimens. The evaluated influencing items in preparation design were as follows: cavity depth, occlusal thickness, ferrule effect, internal divergence angle, type of finish line, and adding vents inside pulp chamber. Meta-analysis could not be done due to heterogeneity of preparation designs and evaluation methods. Conclusion: Marginal discrepancy of endocrowns is intensified with adding preparation features, higher cavity depth and increasing the divergence. Fracture resistance of endocrowns is increased with more occlusal reduction and cavity depth. However, it is still beyond the normal clinical force range.

This paper sought to determine corrosion resistance changes in the artificial saliva of a CoCrMoW-based alloy used for dental prostheses under Nd:YAG laser welding with CoCr alloy and stainless steel wire filler metals. The paper presents the corrosion characteristics of such joints, including the next stage of porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) firing. Corrosion tests were performed by electrochemical methods registering anodic polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The microstructures were assessed by scanning microscopy (SEM) and chemical composition analysis (EDS) at the connection and heat-affected zones. Welding CoCrMoW alloy with and without a filler material increased the open circuit potential of the samples by 40–100 mV compared to unwelded base alloy. At the same time, a potentiodynamic test showed a polarization resistance Rpol reduction in welded samples, both for CoCr and stainless steel wires, as compared to the base CoCrMoW material. On the other hand, when comparing the current density and polarization resistance between materials welded with two different filler metals, better results were obtained for samples welded with stainless steel wire. The polarization resistance Rpol for the base alloy was 402 kΩ·cm2, for the CoCr wire weld it was 436 kΩ·cm2, and the value was 452 kΩ·cm2 for stainless steel wire welds. Comparing polarization resistance Rpol from the Tafel analysis and the total charge transfer resistance from Rp(EIS) from EIS, the CoCrMoW alloy welded with a stainless steel wire after heat treatment equaled or even slightly exceeded the corrosion resistance of the base alloy and alloy welded with dedicated CoCr wire after heat treatment. These results indicated the possibility of using stainless steel wire for the laser welding of CoCrMoW alloys dental prostheses, including the next stage of PFM, without sacrificing the corrosion resistance of such connections, and this was confirmed by most electrochemical parameters. Background: The recently published clinical practice guideline (CPG) for the treatment of periodontitis in stages I-III provided evidence-based recommendations for the treatment of periodontitis patients, defined according to the 2018 classification. Stage IV periodontitis shares the severity and complexity characteristics of stage III periodontitis, but includes the anatomical and functional sequelae of tooth and periodontal attachment loss (tooth flaring and drifting, bite collapse, etc.), which require additional interventions following completion of active periodontal therapy. Aim: To develop an S3 Level CPG for the treatment of stage IV periodontitis, focusing on the implementation of inter-disciplinary treatment approaches required to treat/rehabilitate patients following associated sequelae and tooth loss. Materials and Methods: This S3 Level CPG was developed by the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP), following methodological guidance from the Association of Scientific Medical Societies in Germany and the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) process. A rigorous and transparent process included synthesis of relevant research in 13 specifically commissioned systematic reviews, evaluation of the quality and strength of evidence, the formulation of specific recommendations and a structured consensus process with leading experts and a broad base of stakeholders. Results: The S3 Level CPG for the treatment of stage IV periodontitis culminated in recommendations for different interventions, including orthodontic tooth movement tooth splinting, occlusal adjustment, tooth- or implant-supported fixed or removable dental prostheses and supportive periodontal care. Prior to treatment planning, it is critically important to undertake a definitive and comprehensive diagnosis and case evaluation, obtain relevant patient information, and engage in frequent re-evaluations during and after treatment. The periodontal component of therapy should follow the CPG for the treatment of periodontitis in stages I-III. Conclusions: The present S3 Level CPG informs clinical practice, health systems, policymakers and, indirectly, the public on the available and most effective modalities to treat patients with stage IV periodontitis and to maintain a healthy dentition over lifetime, according to the available evidence at the time of publication. Background: Finite element analysis (FEA) is one of the best methods for evaluating the stress distribution of restorations, such as fixed partial dentures. The development of resin cement has transformed prosthesis bonding and retention properties. Resin-bonded fixed partial dentures (RBFPD) have been considered minimally invasive treatment options for the prosthetic rehabilitation of single missing teeth.Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the stress load and distribution in four different designs of acid-etched RBFPDs using FEA.Materials and Methods: The designs included standard tooth preparation principles and additional features. The first premolar and first molar abutments replaced the missing second premolar. Designs 1, 2, 3, and 4 included (1) lingual wings and occlusal rests; (2) wings and proximal slices; (3) wings, rests, and grooves; and (4) wings, rests, grooves, and occlusal coverage. The prepared models were restored with RBFPDs. A load of 100 N was applied to the central groove of the pontic to simulate occlusal forces. The materials used in the models were considered to be isotropic, homogeneous, and linearly elastic. FEA was used to reveal stresses acting on the abutment, bone, and connector in all prosthesis designs.Results: The stresses transmitted to the abutment and bones were lowest for design 3, using wings, rests, and grooves. The stresses acting on the connector were the weakest in design 2. The stresses transmitted to the abutment and bone were highest in designs 1 and 4. The stresses transmitted to the connector were highest in design 3.Conclusion: The wings, rests, and grooves design is possibly the ideal and conservative tooth preparation design to receive a posterior RBFPD. This design transmits less stress to the abutments and less bone resorption in the FEA. It is most likely to be successful in the clinical provision and ensures the longevity of the prosthesis.

Background: Complete debridement of the root canal system from inflamed or necrotic pulp tissues and micro-organisms is the main objective of conventional root canal treatment. Apart from this universally accepted indication, elective (intentional) RCT of teeth with normal pulp may become necessary. Aim: To analyse the number of patients requiring intentional RCT for prosthodontic rehabilitation. Materials and Methods: Data was retrieved from the dental records. Data of patients who had undergone intentional RCT were collected from the patient management records of the department of conservative dentistry and endodontics. Patients in which intentional RCT was performed for prosthodontic rehabilitation were shortlisted. The data was obtained and tabulated in excel, imported to SPSS software by IBM, a statistical software with variablesdefined. The significance of this study was set at p<0.05, obtained using Chi Square test and the results were interpreted. Results: Out of 3644 RCTs performed, 455 were intentional RCTs and 3189 were conventional RCTs. Chi square statistical test was done and the p value was found to be 0.01(Chi square test-p value< 0.05, significant). Conclusion: Elective RCT is a valid treatment approach and its prevalence is up to 12.49% among conventional RCT performed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity is the most common cause of mandibular defect. The functional and aesthetic impacts of this surgery must be considered. The number of mandibular resections depends on the TNM classification of the tumor. Mandibular reconstruction by a fibula free flap has become the gold standard. Unfortunately, not all mandibular resections are rehabilitated. The purpose of this study is to evaluate oral rehabilitation after mandibular resection in patients with squamous cell carcinoma. Materials and methods: A retrospective study was conducted to evaluate oral rehabilitations according to the type of surgical resection and reconstruction. The secondary evaluation criteria were type of rehabilitation, implant success rate, post-radiotherapy delay, rehabilitation success rate, and causes of non-rehabilitation. Results: The study included 157 patients with mandibular resection. Of the patients, 26.7 percent received oral rehabilitation. All rehabilitation with implants was functional. The main causes of non-rehabilitation were death or recurrences related to the progression of the disease, postoperative anatomical difficulties, and cost of oral rehabilitation. Conclusion: Oral rehabilitation after mandibular resection surgery is insufficient. A rehabilitation unit including a maxillofacial surgeon, oral surgeon, and dentist is essential. Implementation of the unit should be considered as soon as possible. The cost of rehabilitation should not be a limiting factor. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Patient's satisfaction is of utmost importance to the dental professionals among all those who have undergone prosthodontic rehabilitation.The success of every dental prosthesis lies in the patient wearing those removable prostheses thereby restoring masticatory function and Phonatics, hence the aim of the present study is to determine various factors affecting the patient satisfaction among patients undergone removable Prosthodontic rehabilitation. Materials and Methods: The present study is a cross-sectional questionnaire descriptive study. The study is conducted among 183 patients undergone removable Prosthodontic rehabilitation and visiting private dental clinics for follow-up. The study was conducted in October to December 2019. The study was conducted among patients age between 21 and 60 years of age wearing removable prosthesis. Results: Among all study participants, majority of study participants were moderately satisfied with the Retention {79 (43.16%)}, Esthetics {87 (47.54%)}, Mastication {68 (37.15%)}, Finish of the denture {89 (48.63%)}, and Overall satisfaction for maxillary and mandibular dentures {93 (50.81%)}. Patient's behavior was significantly associated with overall patient satisfaction (P = 0.00*). Conclusion: Factors affecting any parameter of patient satisfaction was age, Gender, Smoking habits, duration of wearing prosthesis, no. of removal prosthesis used, number of times denture was repaired, patient behavior was significantly associated with overall patient satisfaction.

A common clinical condition affecting the alveolar ridges of the mandibular or maxillary arches is known as a "flabby ridge." This condition involves a superficial region of movable soft tissue. It is particularly prevalent among long-term denture users, especially in the lower anterior region. Flabby ridges occur when hyperplastic soft tissue replaces the alveolar bone, resulting in mobile, hypermobile, and frequently edematous tissue. This condition is most commonly found in the edentulous areas of the oral cavity, especially in the maxillary anterior region. To provide a good fit for the patient, it is necessary to create a denture with accurate morphology, unique contours, and mobility of flabby tissue. The presence of a flabby ridge can significantly impact the stability, fit, and functionality of dentures. Management of flabby tissue includes various methods such as impression techniques, surgical intervention, and denture designing. This case report aims to provide an improved and controlled application of polyvinyl siloxane impression material in managing flabby tissue conditions, which is commonly used in dental practices. Objectives: Accurate occlusal vertical dimension (OVD) establishment is an essential component of prosthodontic treatment. No accurate approach exists to determine the appropriate OVD for patients without posterior teeth. This study aimed to correlate the accuracy of the nose-to-chin distance with various facial measurements and thumb length in dentulous and edentulous Saudi patients., Materials and Methods: The participants comprised 100 fully dentulous Saudi male dental students aged 20-30 years (group 1) and 20 completely edentulous patients aged 60-70 years (group 2). We evaluated the correlations between the OVD (nose-to-chin distance) and the distance from the pupil to the corner of the mouth, the vertical length at midline of the nose (from subnasion to glabella), the distance from the outer canthus of one eye to the inner canthus of the other, twice the distance between the inner canthi, and the distance from the thumb tip to the index fingertip., Statistical Analysis: Spearman's correlation and regression analysis were performed to analyze and assess the correlations between the clinically measured nose-to-chin distance and other parameters, with significance set at 0.05., Results: In edentulous patients, the results showed a significant, strong, positive correlation between the nose-to-chin distance and the distance between the pupil and the mouth corner. In dentate subjects, a significant, strong, positive association was found between the nose-to-chin distance and the distance from the outer canthus of one eye to the inner canthus of the other. The linear regression analysis revealed that the distance between the pupil and the mouth corner in edentulous patients significantly predicted the OVD., Conclusions: In both groups, the distance from the outer canthus of one eye to the inner canthus of the other and the distance from the pupil to the mouth corner were reliable and accurate for OVD measurements. Prosthodontic rehabilitation of patient with ectodermal dysplasia is challenging due to the oral deficiencies typical in this disorder. Ectodermal dysplasia is heterogeneous group of inherited disorders in which two or more ectodermally derived anatomic structures fail to develop. This case report outlined a clinical course of restoring functions and esthetics for a 21 year old female with hypohydrotic ectodermal dysplasia who was treated with implant supported dental prosthesis. Statement of problemControlling tooth reduction for porcelain laminate veneers (PLVs) in fractions of millimeters is challenging.PurposeThe purpose of this study was to assess an automated robotic tooth preparation system for PLVs for accuracy and precision compared with conventional freehand tooth preparation.Material and methodsTwenty maxillary central incisor tooth models were divided into 2 groups. Ten were assigned to a veneer preparation with a robotic arm according to preoperative preparation design-specific guidelines (experimental group). Ten were assigned to conventional tooth preparation by a clinician (control group). Initially, all tooth models were scanned with a 3- dimensional (3D) laser scanner, and a tooth preparation for PLVs was designed on a 3D image. Each tooth model was attached to a typodont. For the experimental group, an electric high-speed handpiece with a 0.9-mm-diameter round diamond rotary cutting instrument was mounted on the robotic arm. The teeth were prepared automatically according to the designed image. For the control group, several diamond rotary cutting instruments were used to prepare the tooth models according to preoperative preparation design guidelines. All prepared tooth models were scanned. The preoperative preparation design image and scanned postoperative preparation images were superimposed. The dimensional difference between those 2 images was measured on the facial aspect, finish line, and incisal edge. Differences between the experimental and the control groups from the 3D design image were computed. Accuracy and precision were compared for all sites and separately for each tooth surface (facial, finish line, incisal). Statistical analyses were conducted with a permutation test for accuracy and with a modified robust Brown-Forsythe Levene-type test for precision (α=.05).ResultsFor accuracy for all sites, the mean absolute deviation was 0.112 mm in the control group and 0.133 mm in the experimental group. No significant difference was found between the 2 (P=.15). For precision of all sites, the standard deviation was 0.141 mm in the control group and 0.185 mm in the experimental group. The standard deviation in the control group was significantly lower (P=.030). In terms of accuracy for the finish line, the control group was significantly less accurate (P=.038). For precision, the standard deviation in the control group was significantly higher at the finish line (P=.034).ConclusionsFor the data from all sites, the experimental procedure was able to prepare the tooth model as accurately as the control, and the control procedure was able to prepare the tooth model with better precision. The experimental group showed better accuracy and precision at the finish line.

Treatment modalities differ for growing and nongrowing patients. In nongrowing patients with moderate to severe dental and skeletal deformities, interdisciplinary treatment combined approach is required with orthodontics and orthognathic surgery. Case discussed here is of class III skeletal bases with orthognathic maxilla and prognathic mandible having anterior crossbite with a horizontal growth pattern treated by transdisciplinary approach with combination of orthodontics, orthognathic surgery, and prosthetic approach to get best achievable results of skeletal class III malocclusion.

Introduction The study aimed to assess features of highly viewed YouTube videos on an alternative of implant-supported fixed prosthesis, namely All-on-4 and SKY fast & fixed, compared to those with a considerably lower number of views. Methodology Eighty YouTube videos were analyzed, 40 that registered the highest numbers of views, and as control 40 with a considerably lower numbers of views. The search was conducted in February 2020. Data were collected on bibliometric indices, general video features and medical information presented. Results Highly viewed videos had variable features, tended to date at least 4 years back, with a 5-minute duration, in English, either in spoken or written form, with multiple forms of media content, information presented by the dentist, mainly on implant placement and definitive fixed prosthesis, clearly indicating identification data on the dentist's and the dental clinic name. When compared to videos with a considerably lower number of views, the latter are often longer, in other languages than English, have images as multimedia content, the information presented frequently includes theoretical medical aspects, fragments from clinical interventions, information on definitive fixed prosthesis, and frequently mention identification data on the dentist's name and the dental materials used. Conclusions Highly viewed videos on dental theme as All-on-4 and SKY fast & fixed have features that differentiate them from those with a considerably lower number of views. Background. The fracture resistance of the crowns may have an influence on their appearance, according to the method of making them, either analogously or by means of Cad-Cam technology. Objective. To compare the resistance to the fracture of the individual crowns made by two manufacturing methods, under computer-aided design and computerized manufacturing (CAD-CAM) and injected. Methods. In vitro study. Sample size 20 crowns in two groups: 10 crowns using CAD-CAM technology and 10 crowns injected. Crowns were subjected to compressive loads in a universal testing machine, with a speed of 1mm / min and a cell load of 5kN until obtaining the maximum bill for these. Data were statistically analyzed using the Shapiro Wilk tests, Mann Whitney p = 0.05. Results. Crowns manufactured by Cad-Cam obtained a minimum of 602.5 Newton and a maximum of 1093 Newton, while the crowns manufactured analogously obtained a minimum of 525.2 Newton and a maximum of 1773 Newton in the experiment with the machine Universal test to achieve their fracture. A significant difference was obtained in the invoice resistance test between both manufacturing methods (p <0.001). Conclusion. These procedures serve the needs of prosthodontists who plan replacements for missing teeth and associated tissues. A complete denture must restore function of the jaws (mastication of food, speech and swallowing) which can be achieved by creating proper supporting structures for subsequent replacement. In order to achieve esthetically optimal outcome with implant prosthesis, appropriate topography of emergence profile is crucial. The objective of this review is to explorer current evidence regarding this topic and relevant issue. Extent of interproximal papilla is determined not by the shape of emergence profile but the length between interproximal alveolar bone prominence and interproximal contact of crowns. There have been concerned that multiple times of disconnection and reconnection of abutment enhance peri-implant marginal bone loss, but it's certified not to be a clinically significant level. Current digital workflow makes this step faster and easier, by copying emergence profile of contralateral tooth or extracted teeth.

Background: Patient's satisfaction is of utmost importance to the dental professionals among all those who have undergone prosthodontic rehabilitation.The success of every dental prosthesis lies in the patient wearing those removable prostheses thereby restoring masticatory function and Phonatics, hence the aim of the present study is to determine various factors affecting the patient satisfaction among patients undergone removable Prosthodontic rehabilitation. Materials and Methods: The present study is a cross-sectional questionnaire descriptive study. The study is conducted among 183 patients undergone removable Prosthodontic rehabilitation and visiting private dental clinics for follow-up. The study was conducted in October to December 2019. The study was conducted among patients age between 21 and 60 years of age wearing removable prosthesis. Results: Among all study participants, majority of study participants were moderately satisfied with the Retention {79 (43.16%)}, Esthetics {87 (47.54%)}, Mastication {68 (37.15%)}, Finish of the denture {89 (48.63%)}, and Overall satisfaction for maxillary and mandibular dentures {93 (50.81%)}. Patient's behavior was significantly associated with overall patient satisfaction (P = 0.00*). Conclusion: Factors affecting any parameter of patient satisfaction was age, Gender, Smoking habits, duration of wearing prosthesis, no. of removal prosthesis used, number of times denture was repaired, patient behavior was significantly associated with overall patient satisfaction. BACKGROUND: Digital technology has been widely used in the oral field. With the continuous development of material science and computer application science, the popularity of this technology has soared owing to its facilitation, precision, and reduction in healthcare costs. OBJECTIVE: To review the present situation and prospect of digital technology in prosthodontics. METHODS: A computer-based online research of PubMed and CNKI databases was performed for relevant articles published from January 2012 to November 2017 using the keywords of “digital technology, CAD/CAM technology, digital impression, digital dental shade selection, 3D printing technology” in English and in Chinese, respectively. After removal of repetitive articles, finally 68 eligible articles were included in result analysis. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Digital technology has been widely used in the oral field, including single crown, inlays, veneer, fixed bridge, removable partial dentures and complex complete denture. Compared to traditional dental restoration methods, this technology has better timeliness, aesthetics, and economy in digital impression, digital dental shade selection, digital design and production. Abstract: Background: Palatomaxillary defects were historically restored with a prosthetic obturator; however, advances in local and free tissue transfer has provided a viable alternative for appropriately selected patients with palatomaxillary defects. Methods: A retrospective chart review of patients who underwent palatomaxillary reconstruction by the lead author between 1998 and 2016 was conducted. Patients who were restored with a palatal obturator were excluded. Results: One hundred forty patients were reconstructed with a total of 159 local, regional, and free flaps with a 96.7% success rate. Seventy‐four patients (52.8%) underwent prosthodontic rehabilitation, with 183 implants placed and an 86% success rate. Conclusion: Palatomaxillary reconstruction applying a systematic approach, using a multitude of techniques, is a safe and effective way to restore patients without compromising the ability to maintain surveillance. Great bone and connective defects remains the challenge in rehabilitation of esthetic zone, especially in anterior maxilla. Alternatives such as surgical reconstruction with bone or soft tissue grafts have favorable prognosis for gain in thickness, but increase in the vertical bone is limited and uncertain. For these cases, the use of implant prosthodontics and artificial soft tissue are indicated to improve esthetics and phonetics. This study describes rehabilitation in maxillary region through prosthetic implant in which artificial soft tissue in ceramic was used to restore naturalness and aesthetics in the zone with vertical bone defect. 45 years-old male patient was rehabilitated with bone and soft tissue grafts and implants. After the tissue recovery, the prosthetic phase was performed using a metal-ceramic prosthesis with artificial soft tissue in ceramic due to the remaining extensive bone defect. The characteristics of dental ceramics have been extensively studied over the years to provide highly qualified materials for use in prosthetic restorations. The ability to adhere to dental substrates, outstanding aesthetics (translucency, color, and substrate masking ability) and improved mechanical properties provide these materials with optical features and high strength to withstand masticatory stimuli. Different classifications are adopted, and it is generally considered that glass-ceramics have better optical characteristics due to the high glass content, and polycrystalline ceramics have superior strength favored by their densified and organized crystals, hampering crack growth. This knowledge was largely built-up during years of scientific research through different testing methodologies, but mainly employing static loads. It is important to not only take into account the intensity of loads that these materials will be exposed to, but also the effect of the intermittence of cyclic load application leading to mechanical fatigue and the influence of factors related to the crack origin and their propagation under this condition. Furthermore, the bonding surface of ceramic restorations requires surface treatments that improve the bond strength to luting agents; however, these treatments require caution because of their potential to produce defects and affect the structural behavior. Moreover, ceramic restorations often require internal adjustments for proper seating or external adjustments for fitting the occlusal contact with the antagonist. In this sense, finishing/polishing protocols may alter the defect population, as luting agents may also interact by filling in the superficial defects on the restoration intaglio surface. Thus, the balance among all these factors will define the performance of a restorative setup, as well as the posterior exposure to the humid environment and the masticatory stimuli (cyclical loading), which may favor developing slow and subcritical growth of cracks in ceramic materials and the degradation of the bond interface. Immediate partial denture is a choice of treatment due to various cases of teeth extraction such as badly carious teeth, periodontal disease, eruption problems, trauma, and other reasons. Many choices are used to replace the lost teeth; one of these choices is a removable plastic denture in which hot cured acrylic resin should be used to fabricate such denture. Aim of Study: To provide an applicable technique to fabricate an immediate partial denture by reducing and declining the prosthetic steps and some materials in proportional to the conventional method. Clinical Procedures: Maxillary and mandibular stone casts are mounted to a simple articulator and the procedures are explained as step by step to fabricate an immediate partial denture without using the conventional methods and material, just using a small quantity of white cold cure acrylic resin to fabricate the artificial teeth, hot cure acrylic resin for the denture base and mold made of a silicon impression material are used to fabricate an immediate partial denture. Conclusion: The finished immediate partial denture showed a good retention and produced the exact shapes and sizes of the extracted teeth with low cost and less time for a dentist and patient.
