Il saggio propone un bilancio ragionato dell’editoria a stampa di testi epistolari con riferimento alla tradizione letteraria italiana dal secondo Trecento al Novecento, della quale indaga innanzitutto le forme via via assunte (l’Epistolario, i Carteggi, la Rete) e le sottese tendenze storiografiche. Ne emerge, nel complesso, lo stato di (relativa) buona salute dell’editoria epistolare italiana, soprattutto recente: un panorama che, pur nella progressiva scomparsa delle grandi collane di classici, si segnala per una più che discreta presenza di testi epistolari affidabili (specie nelle Edizioni Nazionali) e persino di collane dedicate, promosse da case editrici anche minori e non di ambito universitario. Completa il lavoro un’ampia rassegna bibliografica, che censisce analiticamente, da Coluccio Salutati (1331-1406) a Vincenzo Cardarelli (1887-1959), la dotazione editorial-epistolare recente (ma se del caso anche ottocentesca) di ciascun autore. Printed epistolaries of Italian men of letters. Trends and projects. This article offers an overview of how printed editions of epistolaries and correspondances evolved in the Italian literary tradition from the late fourteenth to the twentieth century. It investigates the forms they gradually assumed (the collection of letters of a single author, the correspondence, the network) and the underlying historiographical trends. Overall, the state of (relative) good health of scholarly endevours in the field results from the survey: despite the progressive disappearance of collections of “classics”, there still are numerous good editions (especially when they are carried out in the framwork of ‘national editions’) and several dedicated series, promoted by publishing houses, even commercially oriented ones. The article also prived an extensive bibliographical review, which analytically recordsauthors listed chronologically from Coluccio Salutati (1331-1406) to Vincenzo Cardarelli (1887-1959).
