The following article attempts to survey this field. It distinguishes between three types of cognition in poetry referring mostly to European and American poems of the 20th century: cognition that is caused by poems, cognition that is imparted in poems, and cognition that is formed in poems.

- Abstract
María Zambrano wrote an article titled “Lydia Cabrera, poet of the metamorphosis”. She highlighted the importance of the work of Lydia Cabrera with afro-cuban culture. This paper establishes the similarities between both authors, as well as the similarities between poetic knowledge and poetic reason. The different published texts, friendship relationships and different letters are taken as bibliographic sources. We will also focus on the relationship between Cabrera and García Lorca to show the links between the Generation of 27 and Lydia Cabrera., A partir del artículo que María Zambrano escribió sobre la importancia de la obra de Lydia Cabrera, así como las diferentes noticias biográficas que tenemos de su amistad en Cuba y prolongada en los distintos exilios que las dos pensadoras sufrieron en el siglo XX, se establecen las similitudes entre conocimiento poético y razón poética. Se utilizan textos publicados, noticias sobre las relaciones de amistad y diversos epistolarios. Finalmente, también se pretende centrar la atención en la relación establecida entre Cabrera y García Lorca con la intención de mostrar los profundos nexos que se crearon en relación a la razón poética.

The work deals with the problem of poetic cognition and its expression. The phonetic and lexical level of the poetic text is described and analyzed with the example of the poem “Обида” by O. A. Sedakova. Linguistic study of vocabulary, textual semantics and individual author’s picture of the world is carried out by the method of poetic ideography in line with the research of the Ural semantic school. The linguistic study of the sound-letters of the text is carried out using the method of psychometric phonosemantic analysis proposed by A. P. Zhuravlev. In the course of the analysis, it is revealed that the feeling of resentment in the poetic picture of the world of O. A. Sedakova is unacceptable, inappropriate, alien — this is evidenced by the semantics of the sound and the semantics of the lexical levels of the poem, complementing each other. В работе рассматривается проблема поэтического познания и его выражения. Описывается и анализируется фонетический и лексический уровень поэтического текста на примере стихотворения «Обида» О. А. Седаковой. Лингвистическое изучение лексики, текстовой семантики и индивидуально-авторской картины мира осуществляется методом поэтической идеографии в русле исследований уральской семантической школы. Лингвистическое изучение звукобукв текста производится с помощью метода психометрического фоносемантического анализа, предложенного А. П. Журавлевым. В ходе анализа обнаруживается, что чувство обиды в поэтической картине мире О. А. Седаковой является неприемлемым, неуместным, инородным — об этом, взаимодополняя друг друга, свидетельствуют семантика звукового и семантика лексического уровней стихотворения.

El trabajo se estructura en cuatro apartados. El primero lleva por título “Saber poético y producción de sentidos”. Valiéndose de la razón poética de María Zambrano se advierte allí sobre los riesgos de producir un vaciamiento de sentidos educativos cuando los debates se concentran en meras cuestiones técnicas. En el segundo se señalan las potencialidades que pueden brindar las nuevas tecnologías en un movimiento inverso a la segregación de sentidos en la medida que no se desentienden de las nuevas culturas generacionales post-alfabéticas. El tercer apartado aborda las presencias virtualizadas para introducir las tensiones en juego entre lo universal y lo particular que se despliegan en una iniciativa de formación en entornos virtuales. El cuarto apartado pone a disposición un breve análisis de los avatares de una experiencia singular al servicio de abordar un “falso dilema”: ¿educación a distancia si o no? Allí se despliegan algunas herramientas conceptuales y metodológicas: los espacios en su estatuto de lugar simbólico; los tiempos lógicos al servicio de trabajar la posición subjetiva de los educadores en función de las apropiaciones singulares de los contenidos en juego; la relevancia del papel de Otro disponible encarnado en la figura del tutor que pueda convertir las necesidades en demandas genuinas. This essay is organized into four sections. The first section is entitled “Poetic knowledge and the production of meaning”. Using María Zambrano´s notion of poetic reason, the section deals with the risk of producing a void in the meaning of education when debates focus merely on technical issues. In the second section, the capabilities provided by new technologies, opposed to the segregation of meaning, are pointed out, as far as they do not ignore the new generation post-alphabetic cultures. The third section deals with virtual presence in order to bring in the tension between the universal and the particular, which is displayed in an education initiative in virtual environments. The fourth section offers a brief analysis of a singular experience at the service of dealing with a “false dilemma”: distance learning, yes or no? There, some conceptual and methodological tools are displayed: spaces as a symbolic place, logical times at the service of working on the subjective position of educators in accordance with the singular acquisitions of the contents at stake; the importance of the role of the Other embodied in the figure of the tutor who can turn the needs into genuine demands.

Entre Giambattista Vico (1668-1774) y María Zambrano (1904-1991) concurren muchas similitudes que en este año homenaje a la filósofa pueden rescatarse. Ambos filósofos nos invitan a centrarnos en ese otro logos y ese otro mirar, más piadoso, que puede ayudarnos a comprender de otra manera la experiencia subjetiva y colectiva actual. Hoy es urgente recuperar la estética como hermenéutica de la cultura y no como una disciplina meramente vinculada a las cuestiones formales de la belleza y del arte. De hecho, la crisis económica y sociopolítica contemporánea es el reflejo de una forma intelectualista heredada de entender el mundo de lo humano. Por ello, como pensamiento que realizó una crítica epistemológica al idealismo y que planteó genealógicamente nuestros orígenes desde la sensibilidad y la creatividad, la filosofía de Vico y de Zambrano constituyen una oportunidad que no debe dejarse pasar para crear un horizonte más humano y esperanzador del que parece dibujarse., There are many similarities between Giambattista Vico (1668-1774) and María Zambrano (1904-1991) that can be recovered in this year’s tribute to the latter. Both philosophers invite us to focus on a different kind of logos, a more merciful gaze, one that can help us understand differently today’s collective and subjective experience. Today, it is urgent to recover aesthetics as a hermeneutic of culture, rather than as a discipline merely linked to formal questions of beauty and art. Indeed, the ongoing economic and socio-political crisis reflects an inherited way of understanding the human world in an intellectualist manner. Given that their thought made an epistemological critique of idealism, and raised our origins genealogically from sensitivity and creativity, the philosophies of Vico and Zambrano constitute an opportunity to create a more humane and hopeful horizon than the one that seems to be taking shape.

Evaluation in lyrical poetry is mostly an uncharted territory, although subgenres such as panegyric or elegy suggest that it has a rich tradition. This contribution proposes a definition of evaluation in lyrical poetry and explores possible forms and functions of such evaluations in selected examples. The analyses suggest that contemporary poetry, although it may be full of evaluative expressions, provides little clues to the actual object of evaluation or the axiology of evaluation, which makes evaluation in poetry appear vague, incomplete or enigmatic. Despite this tendency towards vagueness, evaluation in poetry may help to convey knowledge to its recipients. Among others, poems by Erika Burkart, Daniela Danz and Wulf Kirsten will demonstrate that evaluation may serve as an enhancement of represented experiences, in particular by tapping into a phenomenological knowledge of ‘what-it-feels-like’ to be in such and such a situation.

The article considers the question whether poets lie against the background of the possible difference between poetical and discursive knowledge. Starting from Plato’s thesis, namely that poets lie, the article refers to Rorty, who, in contrast to Plato and with the example of Nabokov, recognizes in poetry a special kind of knowledge. It is opposed to discursive knowledge, which is closely related to prose. In the second part Parmenides’ didactic poem “On Nature” is seen as an example of proposing discursive truth in poetic words. Heidegger read Parmenides’ poem as a case for the evidence of truth in non-ambiguous poetical words (cf. the example “a-letheia” – un-concealedness, truth). Popper, however, interpreted the same text very differently, namely as a critical reference to the principal ambi- guity of the word in human language and as the first known instance of the presentation of the deductive method. In this context the works of Nietzsche and Solov’ev are seen as opposed to each other, as Nietzsche in “Zarathustra” identi- fied philosophical and poetical knowledge, whereas Solov’ev in his main work kept them separate from each other. The last part of the article studies the relation of poetical and discursive knowledge in poems of Gennadij Ajgi with their closeness to the dream, of Vera Stepanova with the intriguing opening to the co- presence of the Poetical I and the Other in one and the same word and of Durs Grünbein, who exposes the ambiguity of poetical language as a means to show that even untruth can open a way to come to truth. Then the lie of poetical words can be their way to say the truth.

This article examines the features of cognition gained through poetic creativity. First, three aspects of the theoretical considerations of Russian poet Olʼga Sedakova are considered: the attributes of the poetic state, the subject of poetical creation and of poetical reception, and the relationship of poetical creation and mystical experience. Second, parallels to her literary work are demonstrated in an overview, but also discussed in a concrete analysis of one of her poems («Vzgljad kota»). It is shown that Sedakova is entangled in contradictions in her theoretical work because she reproduces the openness and ambiguity of poetic writing in her theoretical texts. Finally, it is demonstrated that the poetic state can be characterized on the basis of her theoretical and poetical work as non-propositionally, founded in a pre-conscious mental structure, and can be qualified with Leibniz' concept of the cognitio clara et confusa.

This text examines various positions and opinions on the question of the relationship between lyric and knowledge. In this respect, we can, on the one hand, determine traditional positions which contend that poetry may be understood as a tool of thought or at least offer access to knowledge. On the other hand, there are positions that strongly advocate the view that knowledge depends on methodically secured insight (cognition) that cannot be realized in poetry. This article adopts Gabriel’s (2013) mediating position, which assumes that there are other forms of non-propositional knowledge besides propositional knowledge, such as ‘knowingwhat-it-is-like’ and others. Following the definition of lyric by Zymner (2009), the focus is then set on the issue of how lyric may convey nonpropositional knowledge. An analysis of a poem by Herta Müller will provide an example for an imparting of lyrical knowledge by showing (‚Aufweisen‘).

Can we learn something from poetry? Can poems convey to their readers insight, knowledge, orientation, understanding or even wisdom? The paper assumes that general answers to these questions are possible but often lacking in substance. Instead, it is worthwhile to consider (a) different types of cognitive achievements and (b) sub-genres of poetry to which specific cognitive achievements have been attributed in certain aesthetic traditions as well as in literary criticism. For this purpose, the paper introduces a modern descriptive vocabulary for various types of cognitive significance and advocates an orientation to the concept of “knowledge” instead of more vague terms like “insight” or “understanding”. In a second step, the paper deals with three sub-genres of lyric poetry, whose cognitive value has repeatedly been claimed in aesthetic traditions as well as in literary studies: “didactic poetry”, “philosophical poetry” (Germ. “Gedankenlyrik”) and “poetry of moods”. Analysing for each sub-genre one characteristic example the paper shows, how each of the three sub-genres privileges a certain type of cognitive significance or a certain “mechanism” of knowledge communication. In a third step, the paper points out which basic features of poetry, such as fictionality, argumentativeness, and literariness, are essential and which are irrelevant to the different types of cognitive significance. Finally, the paper discusses (a) whether the three sub-genres of lyric poetry can be defined without reference to their cognitive functions and (b) whether it would be more appropriate to postulate corresponding practices of reading lyric poetry that are linked but not restricted to these sub-genres of lyric poetry and therefore can basically be applied to every poem.

This paper characterizes several ways of transferring knowledge via lyric poetry. It is argued that conveying information via schemata is a prevalent mode of that kind. But there are also others like employing a concise use of language or pointing at other texts using intertextual references. Besides, many poetry books establish some sort of a lyric sequence to further elaborate a certain topic. As information in lyric poetry is not only schematized, but also sketchy, from a critical reception point of view it may also be highlighted that recipients can make use of it as some kind of a template that enables them to gain new insights related to their own living environment. The important role of schemata as well as the other kinds of knowledge transfer specified in this paper are exemplified with reference to the contemporary poetry of ageing and with a special focus on several poems by Harald Hartung. As ageing is a process that becomes more and more important to western societies due to demographic development, the poetry of ageing and of old age in particular may serve as a tool for gaining knowledge and especially knowledge of what-it-is-like regarding that topic. This adds even more authority to the question of how knowledge is transferred via literature and lyric poetry in particular.

This article analyses the depiction of school as a place of knowledge in contemporary poetry in English. In dealing with the poetry of Jean Breeze (Jamaica/GB), Gillian Clarke (Wales/GB), Carol Ann Duffy (England/GB), Thabo Jijana (South Africa), Meena Kandasamy (Tamil Nadu/India), Claudia Rankine (USA) and Edwin Thumboo (Singapore), it does not only enable the reader to draw pedagogical conclusions from poetic evidence. The article differentiates further between a poem’s potential of knowledge and its process of knowledge developed during its reception; taking, additionally, into account how its reception might interfere with the poem’s potential of knowledge and even with its author’s intention. Eventually, each poem highlights an important anglophone region ranging from the United States, the Caribbean, India and South Africa to the British Isles and Singapore. Hence, each poem is also interpreted in its cultural and historical context. Last but not least, the article tries to undertake a comparative analysis of the role of contemporary German-language poetry within educational contexts in Germany.

Walter Benjamin entwickelt seinen Begriff der ‚Aura‘ an der Lyrik Baudelaires und wendet ihn gleichermaßen auf Kunstgegenstände, Natur und Mensch an. Georg Picht transformiert Benja-mins Aurabegriff in die Methode einer vorrationalen Erkenntnisform, deren Medium für ihn vor-nehmlich die Musik, aber auch Lyrik und Kunst sind. In neuerer Naturlyrik lassen sich Spielarten der Auraerkenntnis ausmachen, die mithilfe der Begriffe Benjamins und Pichts beschreibbar wer-den: Gennadij Ajgi schafft zur Erfahrung von Naturaura poetische Äquivalente; Keijiro Suga stellt eine poetische Diagnose der Aura von Naturorten und ihrer historischen Imprägnierung durch Krieg und Atomkatastrophe (Fukushima); Christian Lehnert übersetzt auratische Natur-kommunikation in poetische Gespräche.

The ability of poetry – on the basis of its generic capability to bring together playfulness and awareness, an anticipated future (Ahnung) and the present – has had consequences for the history of German poetry insofar as poetry could function as a seismograph of tectonic shifts in times of societal crisis. Such was the case in the 1980s, when the East German state entered a phase of agony and there was ever more apparent disquiet in society. Multiple moments of consolidation shaped the poetry of the GDR which ought to be investigated for its epistemological potential: first, the return of political “poems for the times” (Zeitgedichte) in satirical diagnoses, second, poetic anticipation in accumulated collections of surreal visual constructs in poetry and the emphasis of grotesque effects, third, the exorbitant adventure to bring to life a space of thought and language beyond authoritarian surveillance – that is, the ambition to free the diffuse, the Proteus-esque, the marginalized, and the secretive from ossified discourse structures. A fourth tendency further resides in the historical-philosophically grounded self-determination of position and reassurance (Standortbestimmung und Vergewisserung) in poetry. Repeatedly these are bound to decided rejections of every kind of teleological progress, at times with apocalyptic scenarios. Premonition and anticipated knowledge intertwine when, for example, Volker Braun foresees the fall of the Berlin Wall in a poem written in 1988.

Both philosophers invite us to focus on a different kind of logos, a more merciful gaze, one that can help us understand differently today’s collective and subjective experience. Today, it is urgent to recover aesthetics as a hermeneutic of culture, rather than as a discipline merely linked to formal questions of beauty and art. Indeed, the ongoing economic and socio-political crisis reflects an inherited way of understanding the human world in an intellectualist manner. Given that their thought made an epistemological critique of idealism, and raised our origins genealogically from sensitivity and creativity, the philosophies of Vico and Zambrano constitute an opportunity to create a more humane and hopeful horizon than the one that seems to be taking shape.

The following article tries to measure out this field. It distinguishes between three types of cognition in poetry referring mostly to European and American po-ems of the 20th century: cognition that is caused by poems, cognition that is im-parted in poems, and cognition that is formed in poems.

RESUMEN La obra lírica de María Rosa Lojo constituye un verdadero proyecto de indagación ontológica, es decir, un modo de explorar la relación del hombre con su propio ser/ estar en el mundo y con lo trascendente. En sus primeros dos libros, Visiones (1984) y Forma oculta del mundo (1991), el hablante lírico toma la forma de un poeta-médium que se asienta entre dos mundos, asume el rol de nexo con el misterio y da forma a una serie de visiones que oscilan entre el kairós de la revelación momentánea y la impotencia final, estado que signa el tono de ambas antologías. ABSTRACT Maria Rosa Lojo's poetic work is a true project of ontological inquiry, that is, a way of exploring the relation of humans with their own being-in-the-world and with what is transcendental. In her first two works, Visiones (1984) and Forma oculta del mundo (1991), the speaker is a medium-poet who is placed between two worlds, who plays the role of being the link to mystery, and who shapes a series of visions that swing from the kairos of momentary revelation to final helplessness, a state that characterizes the tone of both anthologies. RESUMO A obra lírica de Maria Rosa Lojo constitui um verdadeiro projeto de pesquisa ontológica, isto é, um modo de examinar a relação do homem com seu próprio ser/ estar no mundo e com o transcendente. Em seus primeiros livros: Visiones (1984) e Forma oculta del mundo (1991), a voz lírica tem a forma de uma poeta-médium que se situa entre dois mundos, apropria-se o papel de ligação com o mistério e produz uma série de visões que oscilam entre o kairós da revelação breve e a impotência final, estado que determina o tom das duas antologias.

According to the „Ältestes Systemprogramm des deutschen Idealismus“ philosophy resolves itself into poetics at the end. Hölderlin elaborates this idea in his poetical fragments. The article describes the systematic impact of Hölderlin’s concept of “Wechsel der Töne” on the act of composing poems. By the example of the seven keywords of an unwritten poem „Ovids Rükkehr nach Rom“, the article focusses on a specific metamorphosis: the one from a pure intellectual and pre-lingual realm into the lingual sphere of a concrete poem. Thereby it becomes clear that the way of thinking (in its pre-lingual sense) is poetic; the process of thinking transforms itself into a genuine poetic progress, and vice versa the structure of a poem turns out to be part of a creative development of thinking. By contrast, the described transformative process elucidates an impact of contemporary poetics, because transformation as a core issue is mostly only referred to linguistic, social, or cultural aspects.

On account of its constitution as a temporally organized sequence of verbal utterances, typically presented from a speaker’s subjective perspective, lyric poetry is particularly suited to simulate mental processes and thereby mediate forms of cognition and insight. Indeed, the presentation of cognitive phenomena can be considered one of the prime functions of lyric poems throughout the history of poetry. For the analysis of such processes in poems a transgeneric narratological approach is here proposed, which is ultimately based on the anthropological fact that human existence is inescapably subject to temporality and change and that individuals are therefore permanently concerned with understanding, structuring, planning or preventing change. For this purpose, they employ the basic operation of narration in their communication both with others and themselves as well as in the production and reception of the various artistic genres, not only in fiction, drama and film, but also in lyric poetry. Poems employ narrative elements in a variety of modes which are specific to poetry, such as psycho-narration, mini-narratives, condensed, implicit or metaphorical narratives. A central device for structuring and interpreting a narrative sequence is the event, a transformation or decisive turn in the chain of changes, which then constitutes the moment of cognition or insight in the poem. The presentation of such a mental transformation from the speaker’s limited subjective perspective allows for a critical assessment of status and motivation of the process of cognition on the part of the reader. This transgeneric narratological approach to the cognitive dimension of lyric poetry will first be demonstrated with the analysis of an older prototypical example, W. B. Yeats’s “The Second Coming”, and then applied to three recent, complex British-Irish poems, Eavan Boland’s “The Making of an Irish Goddess”, Kathleen Jamie’s “The Way We Live” and Paul Muldoon’s “Why Brownlee Left”, exemplifying the range of variation in which lyric poetry can perform and mediate mental processes of cognition.

How do Germanophone contemporary writers conceive of their poetry in relation to their proper lives and experiences? Comparing two cycles of poems from the beginning of the years 2000 dealing with invasive medical treatments their empirical authors supposedly have undergone themselves – Ulrike Draesner’s “bläuliche sphinx (metal)” on a missed abortion and Thomas Kling’s “Gesang von der Bronchoskopie” on the biopsy of the lungs –, this paper explores how poetic language is used to shape and to offer experiences that are staged as escaping entire translation into linguistic propositions, thus claiming a kind of ‘complementary knowledge’ that is conceived as exclusively conveyed, or rather generated, by poetry.

The paper gives a survey on the German tradition of didactic poems and nature poems from the 18th century to the immediate present. The early modern pattern of nature as a peaceful Arcadia, the enlightenment pattern of a nature getting sense by God in every detail, and the romanticist pattern of a nature that is impenetrable but nevertheless a permanent object of longing (“Sehnsucht”) are proved to be models of nature poetry that are the most important reference points up to now. The poems about nature written in the early 21st century refer to these models as well as to their destruction and deconstruction by the modernists and avant-gardes of the 20th century. The most convincing poets devoting their attention to nature today play with these traditions with artistic perfection and in an ironical manner at the same time. Often, annotations, essays, and talks on nature are accompanying the lyrical texts. In the present, female writers are the authors of some of the best poems about nature. In several poems, the relationship between love and nature appears under new perspectives. Other important subjects are the landscapes of far-away countries.

This paper will argue that the cognitive process of conceptual blending plays a fundamental role in design and design research by enabling us to manipulate - access, share, probe, alter and transpose - (poetic) knowledge and to synthesise new (poetic) experiences. This research concerns Portuguese poetry of the second half of the 20th century and, more specifically, the poetic and metapoetic works by Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, Eugénio de Andrade and António Ramos Rosa. These authors denote a positive attitude marked by a strong confidence in the poetic writing. They conceive poetry as a reconciling power that reinforces the ties between self, world and meaning. Thus, poetry becomes a mode of knowledge or a kind of gnosis. Despite their neoromantic sensitivity, their writing embodies a moderate mythification of the poetic powers, being aware of the oscillation between fear and desire in which every poem emerges as the invention of a new possibility. After the crisis of language and the fatalistic poetry that followed, their originality resides in the capacity of re-inventing or reconstructing a new significance for the poetic word and finding in it a source of reparatory energy. In such endeavour of meaning-construction, the poetic image assumes an essential role and nudity appears as a paradigm of truth. Therefore, the relationship between productive imagination and lived experience is located at the heart of this poetic world, for that relationship alone allows one to understand how fabulation and reality coexist in poetry.; Cette recherche porte sur la poésie portugaise de la deuxième moitié du XXe siècle, plus précisément sur l’œuvre poétique et métapoétique de Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, Eugénio de Andrade et António Ramos Rosa. Ces auteurs révèlent une positivité marquée par une grande confiance dans le dire poétique. Celui-ci est perçu comme potentialité conciliatrice entre le sujet, le monde et la parole. C’est ainsi que la Poésie constitue chez eux une gnose ou une connaissance. Quoique néoromantique, c’est dans une mythification modérée de la parole poétique toujours entre la crainte et le désir que chaque poème invente sa possibilité. Après la crise du langage qui a mené à une poésie fataliste, leur originalité réside dans la capacité de réinventer ou reconstruire un sens pour le dire poétique et d’y puiser une énergie réparatrice. Dans cette construction de sens, l’image poétique assure un rôle essentiel et le thème de la nudité apparaît comme un paradigme de la vérité. Ainsi, le rapport complémentaire entre imagination productive et expérience vécue trouve une place importante dans cette réflexion au le sens où c’est ce rapport qui permet que la fable et le réel cohabitent dans le poème.

This dissertation explores perceived contradictions and mismatches through a phenomenological, poetic and individual approach to language as a means of expanding rather than contracting concepts, specifically in relation to musical phenomena. It reappraises the way in which we use language, re-envisioning it as something that is a departure from the realm of the literal. Here, language becomes a means to reveal, to use Heidegger’s term, to un-conceal (1971) rather than to represent or codify. The observations in this dissertation are not made from a distance. Personal context is necessarily epistemically implied in the discussion of this problem, and as such, the response to the subject matter and the nature of the research undertaken over the course of this dissertation is also drawn from a personal relationship with language.

This study explores “poetic knowledge” as the episteme of the epic. The Romantic epic, as exemplified by Wordsworth's 1805 Prelude, modernized this traditional genre so that the epic continues to be relevant for education today. The initial chapter compares and contrasts the distinctions between poetic and scientific knowledge. Chapter Two explores the didactic possibilities of the epic genre. Chapter Three discusses poetic knowledge as a heterogeneous, variegated, and accommodating episteme that both challenges and accommodates modern conceptions of scientific knowledge. Memory cohesively unifies the narrative of The Prelude. As such, Chapter Four discusses the use of didactic memory in The Prelude. Chapter Five discusses the use of chiasmus in The Prelude, and references the pre-Socratic philosophy of Heraclitus. The first section of Chapter Six explores a postlapsarian “ecology of the mind” as relevant to Book XIII of the 1805 Prelude. This section is followed by a general conclusion to this study that reiterates the interconnectedness between poetic and scientific knowledge.
