This phenomenological study aimed to understand teachers' School-Based Management experiences in the last-mile schools. This study recorded their challenges, their coping mechanisms, and what learning and insights they can share. Moreover, it involved twenty (20) teachers from the Division of South Cotabato in the T'boli II district located at Barangay Maan, T'boli, South Cotabato, Philippines. They underwent in-depth interviews and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) using the validated research instrument. The findings of this study revealed that teachers encountered the challenges of Burdening Pressure, Overwhelming Paperwork, Wavering Confidence, Emerging Passiveness, Occurring Misunderstanding, Varying Loads, Unravelling Authenticity, Lacking Knowledge, and Believing in Competence. In addition, they could cope with it by Uplifting Themselves, Receiving Compliments, Free-flowing Dialogue, Safe-Keeping Documents, Preparing Themselves, Replenishing Environment, Sharing Informal Conversation, and Learning Accountability. Finally, their insights were about Becoming One's Best Version, Having a Compassionate Heart, Stepping out of Comfort Zone, Lagging in Action, Hoping in Sanguinity, Laboring in Bliss, and Thriving Values. Further, the data of this study would contribute meaningfully to understanding the realest predicaments of mountain teachers. Aim and Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the psychosocial difficulties and life experiences of nurses working in the disaster area following the earthquake on February 6, Kahramanmaraş centered earthquake with a phenomenological approach. Background: After natural disasters such as earthquakes, nurses play a significant role in providing both physical and psychosocial support. Therefore, the experiences of nurses in this field are necessary both to support them and to assist disaster survivors. Materials and Methods: In this study, in which the phenomenological research method was used, semi‐structured in‐depth interviews with 18 nurses who provided health care services during the February 6 Kahramanmaraş earthquake were conducted between January and February 2024 via Whatsapp mobile application. Snowball sampling method was used to reach the sample group. Interviews continued until data saturation was achieved. All interviews were audio recorded and then transcribed. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The study was conducted and reported according to the COREQ checklist. Results: Data analysis revealed two themes (psychological and social difficulties caused by the earthquake, traumatic stress and coping experiences as a nurse) and five sub‐themes (social difficulties, psychological difficulties, traumatic events, reactions and coping). Conclusion: As a result of the study, it was determined that nurses providing health care services were negatively affected psychosocially by the traumatic stress situations they experienced in the earthquake centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6. It was determined that nurses had great difficulty in coping with the traumatic stress situations they experienced. This paper examines how older adults who participated in an online photovoice-based group intervention program reported their experience. In a qualitative-phenomenological study, in which 13 older-adult people participated, data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews and analyzed through content analysis. The findings point to three central themes: a) Challenges—technical difficulties, difficulties in finding a subject for photography, investing time in photography, and an emotional-intellectual effort to put their experience into photography; b) Growth: New knowledge and skills—acquiring new knowledge, acquiring skills, experiencing skills regardless of age, and empowerment; c) Meaning—reflexivity, the ability to project feelings onto images, connection to the outside world, mindfulness, ability to choose, creativity, and critical consciousness. The findings share the way in which the use of creative visual engagement with photography contributed to coping with various challenges and enabled various gains within the process among the older-adult participants. Background: The rising incidence of COVID-19 cases is undeniably having a profound impact on the physiological and psychological welfare of individuals. The incident had the potential to significantly affect an individual's quality of life, social interactions, and occupational performance. The study explored the experiences of individuals who recovered from COVID-19 and the impact of their illness on their psychological and overall well-being. Methods: A qualitative, phenomenological study was conducted in Oman among 15 patients aged 20 to 60 years, who had been hospitalized at Royal Hospital with moderate to severe symptoms and signs of COVID-19. An in-depth interview was used to collect data. Thematic analysis was carried out to analyze the data using the Braun and Clarke model framework for the analysis. Results: Three themes emerged from the study: (1) The impact of COVID-19 on the survivors; (2) factors that improved patients' recovery; (3) lessons learned from COVID-19 pandemic. A recent study found important intrinsic and extrinsic factors that helped COVID-19 patients recover quickly. Conclusions: COVID-19 impacted the individuals' physiological and psychological health. The findings can inform Oman's psychological support services and raise awareness of the virus's psychological impact on mental health. Dementia can be overwhelming to families and their caregivers. Informal caregiving is a widespread mode of providing dementia care in African American communities, yet impact of caregiving on informal or family caregivers in African American communities is burdensome. This study aimed to describe the lived experiences of informal caregivers of African American People Living with Dementia (PLWD) to understand their perceptions of dementia and dementia care, caregiver support needs, and service needs. Interpretive phenomenological qualitative inquiry guided this study to understand caregivers' experiences and needs. Ten family caregivers of African American PLWD in the community participated in this study. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and a diary study approach to document and interpret caregivers' experiences. The data analysis was based on procedures of content analysis. Four major themes emerged from the in-depth interviews: caregiver burden, familism, lack of information and community-based resources, and desire and need for culturally appropriate community-based resources. Triangulated diary entry data complemented the in-depth interviews with similar themes. This study highlights how African American informal caregivers of PLWD face various caregiving needs and challenges in dementia care including lack of culturally appropriate community resources and information. The study illustrates that African American cultural beliefs of familism are significant aspects of their caregiving experience and their coping strategies. These study results provide a useful foundation for various stakeholders to develop culturally targeted interventions and programs to support African American informal caregivers and their family members with dementia. This phenomenological study explored the best teaching practices, challenges, coping mechanisms, and insights of multi-grade teachers assigned in the six different indigenous schools in Talaingod, Davao del Norte, Philippines. An in-depth interview was conducted with the six teachers of Gatong Elementary School, Igang Elementary School, Napunong Elementary School, Naseco Integrated School, Ibuyag Lamburan Elementary School, and Lambid Elementary School. The thematic analysis revealed that the teachers' best practices organizing students into groups, differentiated instruction, translating lessons to the local language, indigenizing lessons, positive reinforcement, discovery approach, heterogeneous grouping, and activity integration. They also incorporated self-invented best teaching practices such as talk to me, atong ginikanan atong katimbayayong sa kaalam (AGAKK), gabay sa pagbasa, and gabay sa kaalaman, science intervention material, drive reading intervention or drive program, and Friday karaoke session. Their challenges included language barriers and lack of resources, facilities, and contextualized materials. Their coping mechanisms were proper time management, seeking stakeholder's help, language translation, introducing games, discovering new strategies, and thinking positively. Teachers shared their valuable insights about cultural sensitivity to IP learners, resourcefulness, and passion to provide substantial education despite cultural and language barriers to students, and teachers' presence and providing quality education to indigenous students are of paramount significance. Training on teaching strategies, lesson planning, instructional materials development, and capacitating school heads must be administered. Hence, the study recommended that government and education sectors' support is vital to address the emerging problems of the multi-grade teaching approach and the indigenous schools and to realize the envisioned quality education in rural communities. The pivotal role of teachers in delivering quality education is undeniable. However, the influence of the organizational climate on teachers’ motivation, which is crucial for educational outcomes, has not been extensively explored. This research delves into the impact of the school organizational climate on teacher job motivation, with a focus on the experiences of EFL teachers in Iran. The study sampled 25 EFL teachers using criterion sampling, including both male and female teachers. Participants engaged in semi-structured interviews, which were audio-recorded and analyzed using a phenomenological approach to elicit their views on the influence of school organizational climate on their motivation. The analysis revealed six salient themes: dysfunctional principal leadership, inequitable salary system and benefits, high teaching load, lack of autonomy, lack of constructive educational relationships, and unsatisfactory school facilities. The findings indicate that a negative school organizational climate significantly undermines EFL teachers’ motivation. In conclusion, the study highlights managerial and pedagogical implications for stakeholders in the education sector, emphasizing the need for an improved school organizational climate to bolster teacher motivation

Abstrak: Perilaku bullying di sekolah merupakan fenomena yang marak terjadi dalam dekade terakhir ini, termasuk pada Sekolah Dasar. Prilaku ini memiliki implikasi serius yang dapat berdampak negatif bagi korban, pelaku, dan bahkan lingkungan sekolah. Dalam konteks inilah, maka menjadi penting untuk mempelajari prilaku bulliying pada Sekolah Dasar dan merancang upaya pencegahannya. Peneliti memberdayakan pendekatan kualitatif fenomenologi untuk dapat mendalami bagaimana prilaku tersebut terjadi siswa sekolah, untuk kemudian ditindaklanjuti dengan menyusun upaya pencegahannya. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Data yang telah terkumpul diperiksa keabsahannya melalui teknik triangulasi. Adapun teknik analisis datanya dilakukan dilakukan melalui lima langkah, yaitu: mendiskripsikan pengalaman siswa tentang fenomena bulliying, membuat dan mengembangkan daftar pertanyaan penting tentang bagaimana siswa mengalami fenomena bulliying, pengelompokan data ke dalam unit yang bermakna, menulis diskripsi tentang pengalaman partisipan secara tekstual dan struktural, serta membuat komposit tekstual struktural. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa: pertama, terdapat beberapa prilaku bulliying yang terjadi di sekolah dasar, yaitu: berupa bullying secara verbal dan non verbal, secar verbal berupa menghina teman sebaya dari faktor fisik, yang hitam ataupun yang postur tubuh teman yang berbeda dengan teman lainnya, memanggil teman dengan sebutan nama oreang tua dan lain-lain. Sedangkan secara non verbal berupa mencubit teman sebaya ataupun berprilaku menyudutkan teman sebaya yang dianggap berbeda. Kedua, upaya strategis dalam mengatasi dan mencegah perilaku bullying pada siswa SD, dapat dilakukan dengan penanaman nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter yang terdapat dalam butir pancasila melalui pembelajaran, pembisaan, kesenian (lagu-lagu), pemberian penghargaan dan oleh pendidik kepada peserta didik.

Some patients with COVID-19 may experience severe symptoms of hypoxia, while some may be critically ill and admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) for survival.Purpose: This study aimed to understand the lived experiences of COVID-19 ICU survivors who were in a critical condition.Methods: This phenomenological study used semistructured interviews with nine participants who were COVID-19 ICU survivors. Data analysis was performed using the Colaizzi approach.Results: The phenomenon of the lived experiences of COVID-19 ICU survivors was presented in seven subthemes and four main themes: struggling in a state of helplessness, fostering a positive spirit from within, amplifying the support from nurses and doctors, and strengthening the connection with family and the Almighty. These themes indicated the essential aspects of psychosocial support needed to boost strength and energy and elevate the body’s immune system, which is crucial to champion life through critical conditions.Conclusion: The new insight resulting from the study is shown in the four main themes, which play a significant role in elevating the healing process and enabling patients to survive critical conditions. Inclusive education presented significant challenges globally, particularly for educators who navigated resource constraints and societal barriers. Despite initiatives like the Masara Child Find Policy in the Philippines, understanding teachers' perspectives on learners with disabilities remained underexplored, especially in Masara, Davao de Oro. This qualitative study employed in-depth interviews with five teachers actively involved in identifying and supporting students with disabilities at Masara Integrated School. Thematic analysis was used to identify patterns and themes within the data, guided by the phenomenological approach. Findings revealed teachers' perspectives on inclusive education, highlighting challenges in implementing the Masara Child Find Policy and supporting learners with disabilities. Teachers employed various strategies to identify and support students, yet faced obstacles such as limited resources and training. Despite challenges, teachers recognized the benefits of inclusive education for all learners. The study enhanced understanding of inclusive education within the Masara context, providing insights into teachers' perceptions and experiences. Recommendations included enhancing teacher training, resource allocation, and collaboration between stakeholders to promote effective implementation of inclusive education policies. These findings contributed to informed decision-making and policy formulation aimed at improving the educational experience of learners with disabilities in Masara and similar contexts. Special education (SPED) learners often struggle in learning due to the curriculum and limited resources despite the awareness of the value of education globally. In the Philippines, inclusive education for all learners, especially for learners with special needs has yet to be delved deeper, hence, this study provides an exploration of the lived experiences of SPED teachers using skill-based learning to understand their perspectives of the participants on how this learning approach can help SPED learners acquire the skills needed for independence. Husserl's descriptive phenomenological research design was used to describe the meaning of the lived experiences of the five SPED teachers using skill-based learning from Cebu City, Philippines. A semi-structured interview schedule served as the primary data collection instrument, supplemented by a focus group discussion to ensure data saturation. Colaizzi's method of descriptive analysis was used to analyze the transcriptions, identifying key experiences, challenges, coping mechanisms, and meanings of teaching skill-based learning to SPED learners. Four major themes emerged from the analysis: Fulfillment in Teaching; Limited Resources, Parental Involvement, and Adjustment; Planning, Preparation, and Communication; and Emphasis on Practical Skills. Despite challenges, teaching SPED students could be fulfilling with passion and perseverance. This is qualitative research on the experiences of persons deprived of liberty in Carcar City Jail during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study sought answers to the life-changing experiences of the informants during the COVID-19 pandemic, how they coped with the challenges they encountered, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the lives of the persons deprived of liberty. The study utilizes the phenomenological method of research. There were 10 informants individuals confined at Carcar City jails for the periods 2017-2018 and 2019-2022 respectively. They were selected based on the preset criteria of being in the facility during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research proceeded with an in-depth interview using the interview guide and voice recorder. The interviews were transcribed and with the use of Colaizzi's method of analysis, eight emergent themes were created, namely: In the Life-Changing Experiences of the Informants during the COVID-19 Pandemic, three themes were created, namely: Breaking Momentum: Reminiscing the Older Self; Recovery Point: Road to Redemption; Breaking Point: The Moment of the Greatest Collapse; and Point of Reckoning: Reflection of One Self. In coping with the challenges encountered during the COVID-19 pandemic, two themes were created: Desolation: In the Face of Sorrow and Healing a Broken Soul: It's OK Not to Feel OK. For the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the lives of the informants, two themes were created Retooling: The Long and Winding Road of Change and Reborn: The Return of the Prodigal Son. It is recommended in this study that the persons deprived of liberty experience creating an avenue for them to strive to change their perspective in life and stay away from things that might trigger them back to their old ways. The families of the informant's continuous support and understanding as to the source of the PDL's strength and hope for their loved ones who are undergoing treatment programs and to stay strong to weather the storm and see the light beyond the darkest part of the tunnel. The DILG, BJMP, LGU and community should all play a role in achieving a holistic approach to rehabilitation as a program instrument by providing the necessary resources and equipment to fully achieve the goals of rehabilitating persons deprived of liberty as changed individuals upon reintegration into the folds of the community. The aim of this study is to examine the opinions and experiences of operating room nurses about ethical sensitivity phemenologically. This phenomenological study, which is in the qualitative research design, was conducted with 14 operating room nurses. Prior to the study, a pilot study was conducted with three nurse families. The interviews were conducted using a face-to-face in-depth semi-structured interview form and the data were analyzed with Colaizzi's phenomenological method. Interview data were collected between 15 June 2022 and 15 October 2022 in the country. Three categories, seven main themes, and twenty-three sub-themes emerged as a result of the interviews. In the theme of ethical dilemmas experienced by operating room nurses, there are sub-themes of professional ethics, teamwork, and patient dignity and benefit. There are physical and psychological sub-themes in the theme of ethical sensitivity perception and practices of operating room nurses, and among the subthemes, ensuring patient privacy, providing professional competence, providing psychological support to the patient, being friendly and communicating effectively, and respecting the patient's autonomy come to the fore. Views of operating room nurses on the importance of ethical principles were discussed under the headings of profession and patient. Our results are valuable in that they shed light on the perspectives and experiences of the operating room nurses while maintaining ethical sensitivity. The high ethical sensitivity perceptions of operating room nurses are associated with an increase in the quality of care. It is thought that the high perception of ethical sensitivity of operating room nurses is an important factor that increases the satisfaction of individuals receiving care and the job satisfaction and quality of care of nurses. AbstractEnvironmental education in primary schools plays a critical role in fostering pro-environmental values and behavior among young children. However, multiple contextual barriers hinder the teaching of environmental issues in schools. Drawing on the evident gap observed in Ethiopian primary teachers’ beliefs and actual practices, the study elucidates the major barriers teachers encounter in teaching environmental issues. Interviews, grounded in phenomenology, were conducted with teachers in four primary schools. The analysis outlined four ranked categories: training and capacity, administrative and logistical, safety concerns, and attitudinal. Most teachers feel hindered by their lack of pedagogical knowledge for teaching children. While most of the barriers are common in global analyses, the current study also identified noble barriers. This study aimed to determine the experiences of non-indigenous teachers assigned in an IP school. Learning and respecting the cultural protocols in gaining the trust not only for their students but also for the whole Aeta community to become an effective teacher of the diverse learners. Understanding how non-indigenous teachers and indigenous teachers work together to provide quality education that both meet its standards while maintaining their rich cultural heritage. The researcher utilized a phenomenological research study followed a transcendental approach to explore the experiences of non-indigenous teachers assigned in an IP community for the school year 2019-2020. The participants of the study were the six female and two male nonindigenous teachers designated in an IP community for a year or more. Eight participants are senior and junior high school teachers and one master teacher at LAKAS high school. Total population sampling is used to yield data for this study. Since the number of non-IP teachers assigned in LAKAS high school is very small. Based on the gathered data, there are 7 themes emerged in this study that described the qualities of non-IP teachers. Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in severe illnesses worldwide. Around 655.5 million cases were having been confirmed, including 6.6 million deaths. The extreme cases experienced near death in the intensive care unit (ICU). This study explored the survivors' experience of being near death while critically ill with the infection. Methodology: A descriptive phenomenological study was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 14 participants from Northeastern Thailand. Content analysis was applied by using Creswell's strategy. Results: Four themes emerged: (a) anxiety and fear of dying alone, (b) environmental chaos, (c) using Thai Buddhist teaching in coping, and (d) returning from the brink of death. Moreover, the patients felt great gratitude and were grateful to the health care team. Discussion: Traumas experienced by patients in the ICU included physical and psychological distress, coping strategies, and an understanding of cultural awareness. This is a phenomenological study on the experiences of Task Force Kasaligan as auxiliary forces during the COVID-19 pandemic in Cebu City. Phenomenological interviewing was used in data gathering to describe the meaning of the phenomenon. This study was conducted in Cebu City, Philippines, where the participants were selected members of Task Force Kasaligan. These were ten participants who were chosen through purposive convenient sampling. The study utilized an interview Guide to elicit in-depth responses from the participants. The investigation aimed to explore several key areas: the personal experiences of individuals serving as police auxiliaries, the strategies they employ to address challenges faced while fulfilling their roles, and their goals for enhancing the service they provide to the community. Results revealed that three themes came up: two themes on positive and one on negative experiences of the participants in the performance of their duty as police auxiliary during the covid-19 pandemic which are: Knowledge and Competence Leads to Better Performance, Police Presence Makes COVID-19 Spread Lessened; and Bashing and Disrespecting Authorities Leads to COVID-19 Spread. Two themes in how the participants, as police auxiliaries, coped with the problems encountered in performing their duties: Expanding the Maximum Tolerance and Building Strong Collaboration. The aspirations of the participants to enhance the service quality provided to the community revealed two main themes: Firstly, the importance of "Holding on: Security of Tenure," highlighting the significance of job security. Secondly, "Moving on: The Need for Training and Development" emphasizes the necessity for continuous learning and skill enhancement. It was recommended that the Cebu City Police Office and the Task Force Kasaligan Personnel should conduct police partnership programs about the guidelines of COVID-19 health protocols in the different barangays in Cebu City. The purpose of this police partnership program is to strengthen the relationship of the Police Personnel and Task Force Kasaligan Personnel to the community's citizens and to ensure their cooperation. This is a phenomenological study of the victims' views of police misconduct. In data collection, phenomenological interviewing was employed to capture the phenomenon's essence. This study was conducted in Cebu City, Philippines, where the participants were those victims who had experienced police misconduct. These were ten participants who were selected through purposive convenient sampling. The study utilized an interview Guide to elicit in-depth responses from the participants. Extensive interviews were conducted to establish the three stages necessary for data gathering in the survey. The research aimed to explore several areas: the participants' adverse encounters with police misconduct, how they managed these experiences, and the effects of police misconduct on both the participants and their families. Results revealed two themes regarding the participants' negative experiences of police misconduct: Sadists in Uniform: A Deep Threat and Bill of Rights: Gone with the Wind. In coping with the experiences of police misconduct, there were two themes: Silent Outcry for Justice, Keeping in Silence Outcry for Justice, and Forgetting the Pain and Moving On. Regarding the impact of police misconduct on the lives of the participants and their families, two (2) themes emerged: On the Verge of Distrust and Loss of Confidence and Not Being Protected but Disparaged and Prosecuted. It was recommended that police-community relations should be strengthened. This caters to information dissemination in the community, and it is a tool to establish rapport by winning again the trust and confidence of the community. And observance of the rule of law by the police officers greatly affects every common dweller in the community; if these law enforcers respect human dignity and uphold the law of the land, there will be no more police victimization. Background: Failure to fulfill the physical and psychological needs of breast cancer patients and their partners can result in anxiety, depression, and marital problems. Aim: The present study was performed with aim to elucidate the experiences of breast cancer women regarding partner's unsupportive behaviors. Method: This qualitative study was conducted with a Dickelman descriptive phenomenological approach in the chemotherapy and oncology department of Shahid Ghazi Tabatabai and Shahid Madani hospitals of Tabriz city in 2021. A total of 9 female breast cancer patients were included. Individual in-depth interviews and note-taking were used to collect data using MAXQDA Software. The semi-structured interviews were used to collect data. Interviews were analyzed using the Dickelman, Allen, and Turner method. Results: A total of 1500 primary codes were obtained, and finally 3 main categories were extracted including financial inadequacy, emotional impoverishment and breakdown of shared life, and existential devaluation as a woman. Implications for Practice: The results showed need for the husband to pay more attention to the impact of his behavior on his wife; also talking about the problem on the part of the couple is the biggest factor in understanding the support that can be expressed. Also, men and women do not think the same in understanding the needs of their sick partner. Male caregivers are usually less understanding of their spouses. Therefore, health professionals should pay more attention and help men cope with this problem and bear the suffering of their wives.

In modern times like today, nurturing critical thinking skills is essential, particularly among pre-service teachers, to enrich the educational process. This study focuses on the development of critical thinking skills in pre-service English language teachers, acknowledging the global significance of English. Employing a qualitative approach, this research involved 10 English major students from North Sumatra with both formal and informal teaching experience. As a phenomenological study, it explored pre-service teachers' comprehension of critical thinking, the instructional methods employed, and the challenges faced in integrating critical thinking into English language teaching. Thematic analysis was utilized to examine their understanding and application of critical thinking in the classroom. Data collection methods included interviews, questionnaires via Google Forms, and observation through photographs and videos during English lessons. Findings indicate that pre-service teachers possess a solid understanding of critical thinking and can apply effective teaching methods in schools. These methods range from contextual learning, encompassing lectures, discussions, and independent literacy, to student-centered approaches like projects and debates. However, challenges such as low student interest in English and insufficient facilities hinder the application of critical thinking. The study underscores the need for governmental support in training pre-service teachers to enhance their teaching effectiveness.

Abstract This phenomenological study aimed to investigate the most common emotions experienced by expatriate EFL instructors and identify the factors that affect their emotional labor in the Turkish educational context. Emotional labor refers to the effort, expression, and management of emotions as part of one’s job responsibilities. In the context of this study, it specifically pertains to the emotional demands and challenges faced by expatriate EFL instructors during their teaching experiences. The study involved eight participants, consisting of five males and three females, working in different state and foundation universities across Türkiye. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to collect qualitative data, which were then analyzed using MAXQDA software. The findings of the study revealed a range of both positive and negative emotions experienced by the participants. Negative emotions included stress, boredom, feeling ignored, job dislike, low motivation, and insecurity, while positive emotions entailed happiness, job satisfaction, love of one’s job, feeling appreciated, contentment, and motivation. The obtained results also indicated that the emotional labor of expatriate EFL instructors was influenced by two broad groups of positive and negative factors. The former group consisted of personal, interpersonal work-related relations, as well as institutional, and professional factors, while the latter was composed of personal, interpersonal work-related relations, as well as national, economic, institutional, and pedagogical categories. The findings were further discussed and several pedagogical implications were presented.

Abstract This study focuses on the lived experiences of individuals with siblings with special needs as their tagasalo. It is deeply rooted in Filipino culture and refers to an individual who selflessly takes on the role of a caregiver. This role involves providing support to the family. This study utilized a phenomenological study. An interview guide question was used to gather data. The result of the study showed that the experiences of individuals as tagasalo are challenging. The themes that emerged were Responsibilities of Individuals to their Siblings with Special Needs with the subthemes (1) Assuming the Parental Responsibility from the parents (2) Taking care of their sibling with special needs. Participants’ Support to their Siblings with Special Needs with subthemes (1)Being there for their sibling, (2) Serving as a Defender for their sibling with special needs, (3) Providing Financial Support, (4) Offering Educational Support, Challenges Encountered as Tagasalo of their Sibling with Special Needs with the subthemes (1) Feeling overwhelmed leading to burnout, (2) Facing Additional Financial burden, Managing the encountered challenge with the subthemes (1) Resilience and Spiritual Guidance, (2) Initiative and Proactive Thinking, and Participants insights of Having Siblings with Special Needs were the subtheme such as (11) Developing Self-awareness of Personal growth, (12) Experiencing the Ripple Effects of Personal Development. The tagasalo used their experiences to become better people and responsible individuals. These can provide a safe space to share experiences and emotions.

ABSTRACTExperiences of loneliness are common during adolescence and previous research has shown these experiences to be related to physical and mental ill-being. However, there is limited knowledge of one kind of loneliness during adolescence – existential loneliness – which can challenge the possibilities of offering adequate support. Narrations of experiences in retrospect may lead to a deepened understanding of a phenomenon. Therefore, this study aims to describe the phenomenon of existential loneliness during adolescence through Swedish university students’ retrospective written narratives (n = 67). The study has a qualitative design with a phenomenological approach, and the data were analysed inductively. The findings show that existential loneliness during adolescence means feeling empty and lost while painfully trapped in an alienating borderland in the search for belonging, sense of self, and meaning. This knowledge can be used as a basis for the development of interventions aiming at supporting adolescents’ well-being.

Understanding experiences of some social categories during the COVID-19 pandemic is paramount to forging a sound frontier for confronting future similar challenges. This study examines domestic violence (DV) experiences of women to understand its psychological and socioeconomic implications. Guided by Merleau-Ponty's Phenomenology of Perception and Heise's ecological theories, using mixed research design, and Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), it was observed that most women experienced extreme forms of physical violence perpetuated by their spouses and intimate partners. Compared with 2019 experience physical violence in 2020 increased by 99%. Dwindling income amidst raising routine expenses was a source of disagreement which also exacerbates aggression. Signs of acute stress disorder and trauma resulting from psychological violence were rampant among the victims of DV. Despite the increase of DV, victims were not heard, hence the need for surveillance and encouragement for openness to avert similar problem in related situations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study explores the approaches employed by supervisors in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) in attaining work-life responsibilities. Employing a qualitative study design, it delves into the experiences of the research participants in their strive to balance their professional roles with personal life commitments. Data collection involved in-depth interviews, observation, and narrative analysis, involving a sample of twenty-five (25) supervisors from diverse divisions and programs in the BARMM. The findings of the study unveil several crucial dimensions of the participants' experiences and strategies. It becomes apparent that they experienced multitasking hence, learned to prioritize tasks which is a testament to the dynamic and multifaceted nature of their roles. In terms of strategies, the study reveals that they predominantly rely on time management and advance planning to deal with the balancing of work and personal life. Moreover, personal, and professional factors that affect their approach to achieving work-life balance include personal problems, inability to balance time, and commitment to work. The research participants also face specific challenges such as resource shortages and overwhelming workloads. This study further highlights the participants' expected support from schools and districts through communication and mutual understanding. Based on the findings of the study, a model was generated. The increasing need for philanthropic support for higher education necessitates clarifying donors' beliefs and thought processes in non-Western countries. This phenomenological study explores donations to the alma mater and the influencing factors of donative behavior among Japanese alumni. Through semi-structured interviews with 15 alumni, we identified six motivations: (1) expectations regarding the advancement of higher education and scientific research, (2) gratitude for the benefits accrued from the university, (3) desire to receive particular benefits from the university, (4) desire to maintain connections with the university and alumni, (5) desire to "pay it forward," and (6) inspiration from other higher education donors. This study highlights that the sense of being supported is critical for donor behavior in a country with a weak philanthropic culture. It implies that enhancing students' sense of support from donors would encourage donative behavior, even in a higher education system that is developing its relationship with philanthropy. Aim: To describe the lived experiences of family caregivers of individuals with dementia during the coronavirus disease (COVID‐19) outbreak in China. Design: This study used a descriptive phenomenological research method. Methods: Between May and September 2021, semi‐structured interviews were conducted with 22 family caregivers of people with dementia. Colaizzi's method was used for manual analysis. Results: Qualitative data revealed an overarching experience of finding 'There is always good fortune in misfortune to encourage us in coping with difficulties'. Three themes emerged: family reactions to the COVID‐19 outbreak, feeling supported by multiple resources performing respective functions and resilient adaptation to new situations. Conclusion: During the COVID‐19 outbreak, family caregivers of people living with dementia in China looked for positive aspects among difficulties and experienced corresponding reactions, social support resources and resilient adapted coping styles. Implications for the Profession and/or Patient Care: Nurses in China and other countries facing similar pandemic characteristics, cultures or economic development levels, can guide family caregivers to look at family hardships from a positive perspective, develop interventions to rapidly respond to families' reactions after a disaster and help them identify social support resources and form adapted coping styles. Impact: We identified the resilience and the positive experiences of Chinese family caregivers of individuals with dementia during the COVID‐19 outbreak. The results can inform countries with similar cultures and economic levels, offering measures to support their adaptation to pandemics. Reporting Method: This study followed the COREQ guidelines. Objective: To explore through the lens of the theoretical framework whether parents achieved any forms of improved parenting during the pandemic; in what way parents improved, if any; and what led to improved parenting. Background: The COVID‐19 pandemic and its repercussions gave rise to multiple challenges and hardships confronting children and parents. The ways parents handled the parenting demands varied. The research documented the presence of both unhealthy and nurturing parenting behaviors during the pandemic. During this course in which parents responded to the parenting demands, some facets of parenting (e.g., parenting practices, parenting cognitions) were subject to change. The current study placed the focus on positive parental changes, if any. Method: The study employed a phenomenological approach. Fourteen parents (female = 12; White = 8; Black = 4, and Asian = 2; 11 of 14 were upper‐ to lower‐middle‐class families) constituted the sample. One‐on‐one semistructured interviews were conducted over Zoom for data collection. Thematic analysis was performed for data analysis. Results: Four themes were constructed: targeted parental responses and changes, refined parenting skills and practices, enhanced understanding of parenting, and unsettled parenting styles. Conclusion: Some parents achieved improved parenting (e.g., refined parenting skills, a new understanding of childrearing). Whether and to what extent parents bettered themselves were conditional on whether and how far parents went to adapt or adjust their parenting. Implication: Although substantially improving parenting skills appears to be difficult, parents can still bring benefits to family by bettering themselves incrementally. Practitioners need to be a source of reinvigoration for parents who aim to improve their parenting and family equilibrium, particularly in the context of a crisis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Group work (GW) is one of the strategies teachers employ to organize students and let them participate in collaborative tasks to achieve their learning-centered goals. The formation of single-gender (SG) and mixed-gender (MG) groups cannot be avoided in GW. Thus, this research aimed to explore EFL (English Foreign Language) students’ lived experiences working in SG and MG groups. A qualitative study using a phenomenological approach was conducted. The data were collected from three rounds of semi-structured interviews with eight participants. They were selected through three steps of online screening with some criteria. The research was conducted at one of the state universities in East Java, Indonesia. Van Kaam’s method, modified by Moustakas (1994), was used to analyze the data. This research revealed two main results: positive and negative experiences reported by students in both the SG and MG groups. In the SG group, the themes include effective communication, postponed GW tasks, and a better environment. In contrast, in the MG group, the themes encompass ineffective communication, solid members, and ineffective time management. In short, two positive and one negative theme are mentioned in SG groups, while one positive and two negative themes emerge in MG groups. As a result, the core aspects revealed include communication, individual contributions and responsibility, and productivity and efficiency while working in groups. This present research adds more comprehensive theories of GW related to students' gender and helps students and teachers be more aware of GW related to gender aspects.

Mindfulness practices in schools have emerged as an educational effort that aims to promote the development of the competency and mental well-being of students. Specifically, mindfulness-based social–emotional learning (MBSEL) programs are an educational strategy that focuses on the improvement of social–emotional competence by cultivating awareness of the present moment through mindfulness activities. This study intended to investigate the benefits and limitations of the implementation of school-based mindfulness practice in a developing nation with a culturally diverse and multi-religious population. Using an interpretive phenomenological method, the researchers interviewed eight mindfulness practitioners experienced in teaching or overseeing MBSEL programs in schools. The findings demonstrated how a western-based mindfulness program can be matched with the fundamental concepts of eastern mindfulness practices, as influenced by the Eastern Trinity philosophy. Furthermore, the study emphasized the difficulties that emerged from misconceptions about the concepts of mindfulness practice and the position of school-based mindfulness programs within the scope of school counseling, which impeded the successful implementation of the practitioners of the MBSEL model. These initial findings elucidated the nuances of implementing MBSEL initiatives within the context of a developing country marked by a rich tradition of mindfulness practice and accessible resources for advancing mindfulness studies.

Therefore, this phenomenological study aimed to uncover the experiences of pregnant women during the COVID-19 pandemic in Dilla town, Gedeo zone, southern Ethiopia.Method and Materials: A descriptive phenomenological design was employed at Dilla University teaching hospital. A Purposive sampling technique was used and point of data saturation was declared at participant 16th. An in-depth interview was conducted in a private room after they received antenatal care services. The interviews were audiotaped, transcribed, and analysed using the open code software version 4.03. The interviews were transcribed verbatim to provide tick descriptions of data. Thematic analysis was employed using an inductive approach. Direct quotes from participants were included without any grammar editing to preserve their intended meaning.Results: Our study found five predominant themes: mental health consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, health impact of COVID-19, concerns over the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, COVID-19 influence on social engagements, and challenge on getting reliable information.Conclusion and Recommendation: This study identified that pregnant women experienced various challenges during the pandemic which includes psychological problems, health impact of COVID-19, economic problems, lack of reliable information and limited social support. The purpose of this study was to explore the lived experience of adult patient with heart failure at Tibebe Ghion Specialize Hospital, Ethiopia, 2022.Method: Qualitative Phenomenological study design was conducted at Tibebe Ghion Specialized Referral Hospital, from November 10 to December 15, 2022. Heterogenous purposive sampling technique was used to select 11 study participants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews guides and observational checklist. The rigor and trustworthiness of the study were maintained by transferability, dependability, credibility, and conformability. Thematic analysis method was used for the development of codes and themes using ATLAS. ti.7 software for analysis.Result: Five main themes and eleven subthemes were developed that explore the lived experience of adults with heart failure. Impact of heart failure on daily life, psychological and spiritual experiences, financial experiences, experiences related to hospital service, and challenges to getting treatment are major themes. Unavailability of medicine, lab investigations, and the inaccessibility of cardiac centers were the main challenges during their treatment.Conclusion: This study explored that lived experience of adult HF patients were addressed in in terms of Physical, Psychological and Spiritual, financial, hospital service and challenges to get treatment. The transcripts of these interviews were transcribed into textual data, which was then subjected to Colaizzi’s seven-step analysis for meticulous coding and comprehensive thematic elucidation.Results: The comprehensive analysis of the factors involved in the intricate decision-making dilemmas faced by parents of children with severe asthma during the process of crafting discharge care plans in the PICU revealed five themes and eight sub-themes: 1) Complexity of asthma-related information; 2) Insufficient provision of comprehensive decision-making support; 3) Encountering negative emotions and wavering confidence; 4) Navigating realistic constraints impacting both parents and HCPs; 5) Balancing the advantages and disadvantages of various plans.Conclusion: Parents of children with severe asthma in the PICU encounter intricate and multifaceted decision-making dilemmas while engaging in the formulation of discharge care plans. These complexities significantly dampen their decision-making enthusiasm and introduce potential risks to the children’s prognosis and recovery. Abstract Background Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is highly prevalent within the Indigenous Australian community. Novel glucose monitoring technology offers an accurate approach to glycaemic management, providing real-time information on glucose levels and trends. The acceptability and feasibilility of this technology in Indigenous Australians with T2DM has not been investigated. Objective This feasibility phenomenological study aims to understand the experiences of Indigenous Australians with T2DM using flash glucose monitoring (FGM). Methods Indigenous Australians with T2DM receiving injectable therapy (n = 8) who used FGM (Abbott Freestyle Libre) for 6-months, as part of a clinical trial, participated in semi-structured interviews. Thematic analysis of the interviews was performed using NVivo12 Plus qualitative data analysis software (QSR International). Results Six major themes emerged: 1) FGM was highly acceptable to the individual; 2) FGM’s convenience was its biggest benefit; 3) data from FGM was a tool to modify lifestyle choices; 4) FGM needed to be complemented with health professional support; 5) FGM can be a tool to engage communities in diabetes management; and 6) cost of the device is a barrier to future use. Conclusions Indigenous Australians with T2DM had positive experiences with FGM. This study highlights future steps to ensure likelihood of FGM is acceptable and effective within the wider Indigenous Australian community.

In Mexico, colorectal cancer ranks first in mortality and is considered the third most frequent type of cancer. Colorectal cancer patients face challenges in adjusting to their daily lives and activities as symptoms increase significantly from onset, during, and after treatment. Physical and emotional problems resulting from cancer diagnosis and treatment generate support needs throughout the cancer trajectory, which may be associated with decreased quality of life. Currently in Mexico there are few qualitative studies on the needs of patients with colorectal cancer. A phenomenological analysis helps us study experiences as they occur and how people experience them, and could help us understand patients' reactions, feelings, and experiences to changes in cancer diagnosis and treatment, and thus way to provide specific care to the needs they present. The study aimed to investigate the experiences faced by colorectal cancer patients during the diagnosis and treatment process and to identify the support needs required. Qualitative research was carried out with a phenomenological approach which tries to describe the experience without trying to give causal explanations. From this model, people are considered as active, thinking, and responsible for their actions, it considers that people are naturally good and that they seek to achieve positive goals. This model considers that the person cannot be understood unless he perceives the world through her eyes. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 16 patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer. The interviews lasted 30 to 50 minutes, were audio recorded and transcribed verbatim by a collaborator. The transcripts were analyzed using interpretive phenomenological analysis involving content analysis by categories. The study was approved by the Local Committee for Research and Ethics in Health Research of the Hospital de Alta Especialidad (R-2016-1901-89), which provides tertiary care to patients diagnosed with cancer in which patients receive the cancer treatment of surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The results show two main themes that emerged in the analysis: changes and support needs during diagnosis and treatment. The changes experienced by patients during diagnosis and treatment are mainly emotional, such as sadness and fear, for which they used different coping strategies such as thinking about their family and spiritual aspects; social and family as adjustments in their activities of daily living, physical related to surgery, stoma and chemotherapy as treatment received, which were accompanied by psychological discomfort. A restructuring of the cancer process was also noted as a positive experience. Other support needs were the lack of information on psychological and family care and on the effects of diagnosis and treatment. The study has limitations, the design was descriptive and exploratory, so it is recommended to carry out a follow-up that allows reviewing the experiences of the patients over time and during the trajectory of the cancer. It is also important to explore the experiences of family members and professionals to obtain a broader view of the phenomenon of the cancer process in its different actors. However, the study is considered valuable due to the information obtained directly from the patient's experience, showing that the changes they experience are emotional, social, family, coping and physical in relation to surgery, stoma and chemotherapy, as well as, the restructuring of the cancer process. Unsatisfied support needs are also shown, such as the lack of information on psychological and family care and on diagnosis, treatment and its side effects. Guided by Communication Accommodation Theory (CAT; Giles et al. 1987), this qualitative study documents the perceptions of Spanish-speaking Latin American immigrants regarding the communicative behaviors that native speakers make when interacting with them in the Canadian workplace. The findings of this phenomenological study resulted from a thematic analysis of 24 semi-structured interviews. Participants gave their accounts of those communicative behaviors by native speakers that they considered helpful to facilitate interactions and enhance their relations (accommodation). Participants also shared examples of nonaccommodative instances where they perceived that their native-speaking peers did not adjust or sufficiently adjust their communicative behaviors (underaccommodation) or engaged in a communicative behaviour that went beyond what was necessary for the interaction (overaccommodation). Based on these findings, this study offers insights into those behaviors and practices that could contribute to constructive interactions between nonnative and native speakers in the workplace. In 2022, COVID-19 continued to spread across the globe, and to stop the spread of the virus and protect people's health, universities across China continued to remain in a lockdown state. Loneliness is an important topic among college students, and the coronavirus pandemic has exacerbated loneliness. This prolonged school lockdown was unprecedented and it caused severe social isolation and emotional loneliness for students. Few people know how nursing students experience loneliness and find a way through their experience. This qualitative phenomenological study was conducted to reveal the lived experiences of nursing students who indicated COVID-19 lockdown-related loneliness in a previous quantitative survey. We performed 20 semi-structured interviews with nursing students aged 19–23 yrs during their lockdown (April 2022 to June 2022). Our research applied Colaizzi's seven-step data analysis processes to reveal shared patterns in terms of how nursing students experienced lockdown and found the following four themes: emotional challenges associated with loneliness; causes of loneliness; positive and negative motivation to learn; and accepting solitude and reconstructing real life. This study investigates the utilization of knowledge management by Raudlatul Athfal (Islamic Kindergarten) teachers in combating radicalism, adopting a qualitative methodology with a phenomenological lens. It centers on the experiences of twelve certified teachers in Ikatan Guru Raudlatul Athfal (IGRA) from the Delanggu Subdistrict, Klaten, Central Java, scrutinizing their strategies and perceptions through indepth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The objective was to understand how teachers integrate anti-radicalism education within their pedagogical practices, emphasizing the importance of narratives, play, and interactive activities. The findings illuminate diverse interpretations of radicalism among teachers and underscore the effectiveness of collaborative efforts with parents and the community in accessing essential educational resources and further training. The study reveals a critical demand for enhancing teachers' knowledge management skills related to radicalism, advocating for targeted training programs that could significantly improve anti-radicalism education at the kindergarten level. Despite facing resource limitations, this research spotlights the potential impact of early childhood education in fostering a more tolerant and harmonious society. It suggests that upgrading educational resources, refining teacher training programs, and leveraging technology in anti-radicalism education are vital steps forward. The implications of this study are manifold, indicating the urgent need to strengthen early educators' capacity in knowledge management concerning radicalism. This supports the effective delivery of anti-radicalism education and contributes to the broader goal of nurturing a more inclusive and peaceful community. Future research should investigate the variations in teachers' perceptions of radicalism and assess the impact of knowledge management training in optimizing anti-radicalism educational strategies. Teaching and learning are facing previously unheard-of difficulties and changes as a result of the introduction of the "new normal" in education, which is defined by the integration of digital technology and distant learning modalities. The purpose of this phenomenological study is to investigate and comprehend the real-world experiences of math teachers navigating the challenges of the "new normal" in education in the District of Amadeo Division, Cavite Province. The study will employ a qualitative phenomenological research approach to gather data from district mathematics instructors through in-depth interviews and focus groups. The goal of the study is to learn more about the subjective experiences, perspectives, and difficulties these educators have had adjusting to the shift to online and remote learning modes. By exploring the lived experiences of mathematics teachers, the study aims to provide important insights into the strategies and support systems needed to enhance the quality of mathematics education in the current educational landscape. The research will focus on key themes such as the implementation of technology in mathematics instruction, the impact on student engagement and learning outcomes, the effectiveness of professional development initiatives, and the emotional and psychological aspects of teaching in the "new normal." The findings of this research will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the challenges and opportunities presented by the "new normal" in education, particularly in the context of mathematics teaching. Background: Developmental coordination disorder (DCD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder impacting 5% – 6% of children and continues into adulthood for 50% – 70% of cases. Despite the multidomain and lifelong influence of this disorder, little consideration has been given to the experiences of the family. Post-diagnostic support has been recommended however, the specific areas requiring support remain vague. Objectives: This study described the familial experiences of living with a member diagnosed with DCD. Method: A qualitative descriptive study using a phenomenological approach allowed insight into the lived experiences of families journeying with DCD. Forty-four participants representing 8 countries participated in an online questionnaire with 12 participating in an online semi-structured interview. Results: Themes generated reveal that obtaining a diagnosis and navigating the healthcare and education systems can be troublesome. Upon diagnosis, families tend to experience positive emotions such as relief. However, the daily challenges soon result in dominant negative emotional responses. DCD places significant financial burdens on families and impacts marital, parental and sibling relationships. Families often feel isolated from their communities as DCD is poorly understood. Conclusion: DCD places families at risk as daily struggles require support which targets identified motor, cognitive, academic and emotional challenges. Creating awareness in society, education and healthcare would alleviate continual frustrations.
