APOPTOSIS , *CYSTEINE proteinases , *PHOTODYNAMIC therapy , *ACOUSTIC imaging , *PYROPTOSIS - Abstract
Overcoming tumor apoptosis resistance is a major challenge in enhancing cancer therapy. Pyroptosis, a lytic form of programmed cell death (PCD) involving inflammasomes, Gasdermin family proteins, and cysteine proteases, offers potential in cancer treatment. While photodynamic therapy (PDT) can induce pyroptosis by generating reactive oxygen species (ROS) through the activation of photosensitizers (PSs), many PSs lack specific subcellular targets and are limited to the first near‐infrared window, potentially reducing treatment effectiveness. Therefore, developing effective, deep‐penetrating, organelle‐targeted pyroptosis‐mediated phototherapy is essential for cancer treatment strategies. Here, we synthesized four molecules with varying benzene ring numbers in thiopyrylium structures to preliminarily explore their photodynamic properties. The near‐infrared‐II (NIR‐II) PS Z1, with a higher benzene ring count, exhibited superior ROS generation and mitochondria‐targeting abilities, and a large Stokes shift. Through nano‐precipitation method, Z1 nanoparticles (NPs) also demonstrated high ROS generation (especially type‐I ROS) upon 808 nm laser irradiation, leading to efficient mitochondria dysfunction and combined pyroptosis and apoptosis. Moreover, they exhibited exceptional tumor‐targeting ability via NIR‐II fluorescence imaging (NIR‐II FI) and photoacoustic imaging (PAI). Furthermore, Z1 NPs‐mediated phototherapy effectively inhibited tumor growth with minimal adverse effects. Our findings offer a promising strategy for cancer therapy, warranting further preclinical investigations in PDT. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
There are many problematic facts about students in the learning process. Teachers or teaching staff also tend to be less than optimal in developing teaching methods and media used in delivering learning resources. This has an impact on the aim of this research is to understand student problems, student learning styles and Islamic boarding school learning methods for class XI at Pelita Raya Jambi private high school. The method used in this research is a qualitative method, specifically case study. The number of informants taken was 31 people. Data collection tools for this research are descriptive questionnaires, observations, interviews and literature studies. The research results show that the teacher's learning methods do not match the students' learning styles. Teachers apply monotonous learning methods, tend to lecture in one direction and experience difficulties in teaching. Meanwhile, 55% of students have a visual learning style, 16% kinesthetic and 29% auditory. This has an impact on 60% of students in the class having difficulty focusing on the material because they are sleepy, bored and more interested in paying attention to their respective gadgets rather than paying attention to the material being explained. Therefore, to optimize learning designs in the future, teachers need this research to serve as a basis for transforming learning designs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background. Universities have so far implemented a credit learning system which is almost entirely dependent on classroom learning. This shows the low level of learning independence for students. Therefore, the idea of "Independent Learning Independent Campus" emerged, or "MBKM", and is currently a program of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. Purpose. This research aims to describe the implementation of the MBKM curriculum in Islamic religious education study programs in higher education. Based on data obtained from the official Ministry of Education and Culture website, it shows the rapid growth of universities implementing the MBKM program, from 576 universities in 2022 to 921 universities in 2023, or an increase of 60% per year. Method. This type of research is library research. This research uses a content analysis method, namely a technique that identifies every word, sentence in a text or series of texts, concepts or themes. Meanwhile, the data sources used by researchers are books and research journals related to problem formulation. Results. The research results show that the MBKM curriculum (Independent Learning Independent Campus) is a new curriculum that is still hotly discussed in higher education circles. With the inauguration of MBKM, every university must prepare everything to support the success of the program. Several universities still face several obstacles in their implementation, as seen at UIN Walisongo and Unida Gontor. Conclusion. Thus, it is natural that every tertiary institution faces various difficulties in implementing MBKM. Therefore, universities must prepare well and hold outreach so that information can be widely accepted and understood by all parties, both lecturers and students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article provides an overview of the progress made in skin imaging using two emerging imaging modalities, optical coherence tomography (OCT) and photoacoustic imaging (PAI). Over recent years, these technologies have significantly advanced our understanding of skin structure and function, offering non-invasive and high-resolution insights previously unattainable. The review begins by briefly describing the fundamental principles of how OCT and PAI capture images. It then explores the evolving applications of OCT in dermatology, ranging from diagnosing skin disorders to monitoring treatment responses. This article continues by briefly describing the capabilities of PAI imaging, and how PAI has been used for melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer detection and characterization, vascular imaging, and more. The third section describes the development of multimodal skin imaging systems that include OCT, PAI, or both modes. A comparative analysis between OCT and PAI is presented, elucidating their respective strengths, limitations, and synergies in the context of skin imaging.

Studies on the perpetrator of sexual violence against children and adolescents are incipient in Brazil. Their life trajectory constitutes a complex topic and their parental aspects are treated with caution in the literature, despite evidence indicating that perpetrators of violence are more likely to be the father or stepfather of the victim. Thus, this research aimed to bio-sociodemographically characterize parents who committed sexual violence and describe the aggression perpetrated. This was an empirical-documentary, descriptive-exploratory study, with a quantitative approach to the data. Developed in seven municipalities in the State of Pará, it involved the processes of 283 sentenced prisoner parents. A biopsychosocial characterization form was used as an instrument. The collection allowed the construction of a database analyzed using descriptive and cluster statistics. In the results, the biosociodemographic profile pointed to author parents who were mostly black/brown, with an average of 40 years old, two children, with a spouse and occupation. Kinship ties appeared in the highest proportion of stepfather, father and uncle, respectively. The characteristics of aggression, use of force or severe coercion appeared in a proportion of 65.02% and the acts of rubbing against the victim and vaginal sex were the most frequent. The analyzes made it possible to scrutinize aspects of the characterization of this population for more effective future interventions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BackgroundObesity and cardiometabolic dysfunction have been associated with cancer risk and severity. Underlying mechanisms remain unclear.ObjectivesThe aim of this study was to examine associations of obesity and related cardiometabolic traits with incident cancer.MethodsFHS (Framingham Heart Study) and PREVEND (Prevention of Renal and Vascular End-Stage Disease) study participants without prevalent cancer were studied, examining associations of obesity, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, visceral adipose tissue (VAT) and subcutaneous adipose tissue depots, and C-reactive protein (CRP) with future cancer in Cox models.ResultsAmong 20,667 participants (mean age 50 years, 53% women), 2,619 cancer events were observed over a median follow-up duration of 15 years. Obesity was associated with increased risk for future gastrointestinal (HR: 1.30; 95% CI: 1.05-1.60), gynecologic (HR: 1.62; 95% CI: 1.08-2.45), and breast (HR: 1.32; 95% CI: 1.05-1.66) cancer and lower risk for lung cancer (HR: 0.62; 95% CI: 0.44-0.87). Similarly, waist circumference was associated with increased risk for overall, gastrointestinal, and gynecologic but not lung cancer. VAT but not subcutaneous adipose tissue was associated with risk for overall cancer (HR: 1.22; 95% CI: 1.05-1.43), lung cancer (HR: 1.92; 95% CI: 1.01-3.66), and melanoma (HR: 1.56; 95% CI: 1.02-2.38) independent of BMI. Last, higher CRP levels were associated with higher risk for overall, colorectal, and lung cancer (P < 0.05 for all).ConclusionsObesity and abdominal adiposity are associated with future risk for specific cancers (eg, gastrointestinal, gynecologic). Although obesity was associated with lower risk for lung cancer, greater VAT and CRP were associated with higher lung cancer risk after adjusting for BMI.

ADDISON'S disease , *QUALITY of life , *ADRENAL insufficiency , *AUTOIMMUNE thyroiditis , *FATIGUE (Physiology) - Abstract
(1) Background: Patients with primary adrenal insufficiency (PAI) suffer from a reduced quality of life. However, clinical factors associated with this impairment remain unclear. The aim of this study was to assess the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and to evaluate the associations with clinical and hormonal parameters in a group of patients with PAI. (2) Methods: The study included 32 patients with autoimmune PAI, who answered the quality of life in Addison's disease questionnaire (AddiQoL). Clinical data and hormonal measurements were collected from the patients. (3) Results: The total AddiQoL score of males was significantly higher than that of females (p = 0.011). Furthermore, males reached significantly higher scores in each of the four subscales (fatigue—p = 0.013, emotional sphere—p = 0.048, adrenal insufficiency symptoms—p = 0.039, and miscellaneous questions—p = 0.034). There was a negative correlation between HRQoL and gonadotropin levels (FSH and fatigue r = (−)0.38, p = 0.032; FSH and emotional sphere r = (−)0.416, p = 0.018). This study found no significant associations between AddiQoL scores and the presence of autoimmune comorbidities; only fatigue scores were worse in the presence of autoimmune thyroiditis (p = 0.034). The doses of hydrocortisone and fludrocortisone in the replacement therapy were not associated with AddiQoL scores. AddiQoL scores correlated negatively with the age of diagnosis (p = 0.015). (4) Conclusions: Female sex, higher gonadotropins level, and older age at diagnosis were associated with impaired HRQoL in the studied group of patients with PAI. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ADRENAL insufficiency ,ADRENOGENITAL syndrome - Abstract
Context: Incidence and causes of primary adrenal insufficiency (PAI) have not been comprehensively studied in children. Objective: Our objective was to describe the epidemiology and to assess causes of PAI in Finnish children. Methods: A population-based descriptive study of PAI in Finnish patients aged 0-20 years. Diagnoses referring to adrenal insufficiency in children born in 1996-2016 were collected from the Finnish National Care Register for Health Care. Patients with PAI were identified by studying patient records. Incidence rates were calculated in relation to person-years in the Finnish population of same age. Results: Of the 97 patients with PAI, 36% were female. The incidence of PAI was highest during the first year of life (in females 2.7 and in males 4.0/100 000 person-years). At 1-15 years of age, the incidence of PAI in females was 0.3/100 000 and in males 0.6/100 000 person-years. Cumulative incidence was 10/100 000 persons at age of 15 years and 13/100 000 at 20 years. Congenital adrenal hyperplasia was the cause in 57% of all patients and in 88% of patients diagnosed before age of 1 year. Other causes among the 97 patients included autoimmune disease (29%), adrenoleukodystrophy (6%), and other genetic causes (6%). From the age of 5 years, most of the new cases of PAI were due to autoimmune disease. Conclusion: After the first-year peak, the incidence of PAI is relatively constant through ages 1-15 years, and 1 out of 10 000 children are diagnosed with PAI before the age of 15 years. This research was conducted to analyze how students are disciplined in learning PAI in grade 5, including how students are disciplined in learning PAI, what are the factors that influence student discipline in learning PAI, as well as how teachers instill student discipline in learning PAI. The method used by researchers in this study is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. This research was conducted at UNP Laboratory Development Elementary School. Data collection techniques that researchers use are observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study showed that the discipline of students in learning PAI in class V could not be said to be disciplined, because some students still violated disciplinary rules in the classroom and school regulations, among the indiscipline carried out by students, namely often being late for school, going in and out of class when learning is still going on, not doing homework, and not paying attention to learning. Factors that influence student discipline in learning PAI can be seen from 2 factors, namely internal factors there are some students whose interest and motivation are lacking in learning PAI in class V, then the environment where they live also has a bad effect on students. And the teacher's way of instilling student discipline in PAI learning is that the teacher pays less attention and rewords so that students are less enthusiastic about matters related to PAI learning, besides that the teacher also doesn'

This article is part of a broader research on paternal experiences in the transition to fatherhood during the COVID-19 pandemic. This work aimed to investigate the paternal involvement of fathers of young children in the COVID-19 pandemic. Ten first-time fathers from the cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, white, heterosexual, belonging to the population middle-classes were interviewed. The interviews were recorded, transcribed, and submitted to the content analysis method in thematic categorical modality. The analyses were carried out from the family and couple systemic perspective articulated with psychoanalytic concepts. The results showed that social isolation resulting from the pandemic was perceived as eminently positive for the exercise of fatherhood by parents of young children, as it increased the time available for father-child interaction. This study suggests that favouring paternal presence within the family is a fundamental element for higher engagement of fathers in the daily care of their children. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

MECHANICAL wear , *POLYTEF , *SPACE industrialization , *POLYAMIDES , *SCANNING electron microscopy , *SURFACE temperature , *CHEMICAL resistance - Abstract
In recent years, many different polymer and/or polymer-based composite materials have been used in industrial areas such as machinery, food, textile and aircraft/space industries as machine elements, in bearing cages, felt, gasket and gears. One of these materials is graphite and poly-tetra-fluoro-ethylene (PTFE) filled polyamide-imide (PAI) polymer composite. It can be an alternative to traditional materials such as polyamide, poly-oxy-methylene, poly-ether-ether-ketone with its low expansion coefficient, high strength, high thermal resistance such as 275oC and chemical resistance. In this study, the wear and friction behavior of graphite and poly-tetra-fluorine-ethylene (PTFE) filled polyamide-imide composite were investigated. Wear and friction tests were carried out on a pin-disc tester. The experiments were carried out under constant pressure of 1.06 MPa and at four different speeds (1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 m/s). As a result of the experiments, the wear rate, friction coefficient, pin and steel disc surface temperature of the graphite and PTFE filled PAI composite (PAI-Graphite/PTFE) were determined. With increasing sliding speed, the specific wear rate of the composite increased while the friction coefficient decreased. In addition, the composite pin and steel disc surface temperatures increased up to about 46.8 oC. The lowest wear rate of the composite was determined as 2.69x10-15 m²/N, while the highest wear rate was determined as 9.2x10-15 m²/N. The friction coefficient of the PAI-based composite was determined as the lowest 0.31 and the highest 0.36. In addition, the wear surfaces of the composite were examined by optical and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective Previous research has found that among those with brain injury, individuals have a variety of different potential symptom sets, which will be seen on the Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI). The number of different groups and what they measure have varied depending on the study. Method In active-duty personnel with a remote history of mild traumatic brain injury (n = 384) who were evaluated at a neuropsychology clinic, we used a retrospective database to examine if there are different groups of individuals who have distinct sets of symptoms as measured on the PAI. We examined the potential of distinct groups of respondents by conducting a latent class analysis of the clinical scales. Post hoc testing of group structures was conducted on concurrently administered cognitive testing, performance validity tests, and the PAI subscales. Results Findings indicate a pattern of broad symptom severity as the most probable reason for multiple groups of respondents, suggesting that there are no distinct symptom sets observed within this population. Pathology levels were the most elevated on internalizing and thought disorder scales across the various class solutions. Conclusion Findings indicate that among active-duty service members with remote brain injury, there are no distinct groups of respondents with different sets of symptom types as has been found in prior work with other neuropsychology samples. We conclude that the groups found are likely a function of general psychopathology present in the population/sample rather than bona fide differences. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Islamic religious education learning, especially the material delivered from the lower level to the upper and advanced levels, has a different emphasis on weight. Without being accompanied by methods and strategies that are well packaged by the teacher, which are adapted to the circumstances of the students, it has the effect of a lack of understanding, less interest and motivation from students. PAI Learning Strategy with Problem Based Learning model or Problem Based Learning (PBM) is a learning method that teaches students to solve problems and reflect on their experiences, making it possible to grow and develop thinking skills with reasoning, communicative, and connections in problem solving that has meaning. , relevant and contextual. The purpose of this study is to describe the effectiveness of problem based learning strategies through methods, procedures and strategies in developing Islamic Religious Education learning at PTKIN. This research is a qualitative research with library research. The results of this study indicate that the Problem Based Learning learning model is relevant in its application to the PAI Learning Strategy so that it can be collaborated with other conventional models in order to achieve optimal learning outcomes. In the current context, learning activities have been greatly facilitated by the existence of various kinds of learning resources that can be used as a reference for exploring knowledge in order to improve and enrich our insights so that we can respond to the challenges of globalization. And one of the learning resources that can be utilized by humans is the environment. The environment is one source of learning that has a broad scope. And basically, all types of environment, around children can be used to optimize educational activities as long as they are relevant to basic competencies and learning outcomes. Based on its origin, the learning environment can be divided into three types, namely: the original natural environment, the manmade environment and the social environment. The environment does have a very important role as a source of learning, where learning from the environment is expected that students will directly experience learning from the experiences they get. Therefore, learning in the environment provides several benefits including: learning activities are more interesting, the nature of learning will be more colorful, the materials studied will be richer, learning activities will be more comprehensive, there will be more learning resources, students can understand and live up to these aspects. life in the environment. merdeka belajar curriculum ,madrasah ,pai ,Education (General) ,L7-991 - Abstract
There is a paradigm shift in learning in the 21st century and in order to improve the quality of services for madrasah residents, madrasahs must always make adjustments and improvements, dare to innovate or make new discoveries by utilizing information technology to the fullest. Madrasahs must be free to manage education independently, creatively, innovatively in order to provide services that take into account the needs of society and the advancement of science and technology. Decree of the Minister of Religious Affairs Number 792 of 2018 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of the Raudhatul Athfal Curriculum, Decree of the Minister of Religion Number 183 of 2019 concerning the Curriculum of Islamic Religious Education and Arabic in madrasas, and Decree of the Minister of Religion Number 184 of 2019 concerning Guidelines for Curriculum Implementation in madrasas, provides space for madrasahs to create and innovate in the management of education and learning. In line with this, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology has launched the Independent Curriculum which will be implemented starting from the 2022/2023 academic year. This research method uses a qualitative approach. Data collection through the literature method (search library) through books, journals and articles that support the explanation of the application of the independent curriculum in Madrasah. The advantages of the Independent Curriculum are simpler and deeper, autonomous, more relevant, and participatory. The learning objectives of PAI and Ethics (1) guiding students to be moral (2) shaping students into human beings who understand the principles of the Islamic religion (3) teaching students how to apply Islamic principles (4) helping students develop love for their surroundings (5) building ukhuwwah basyariyah, ukhuwwah Islamiyah, and ukhuwwah waaniyyah. The characteristics of CP PAI and Ethics must be based on the Qur'an-Hadith, aqidah, akhlak, fiqh, and the history of Islamic Civilization (SPI). The weaknesses of the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum include that students' abilities and skills are not seen as knowledge that sustains it because Askomi Suka (Minimum Competency Assessment and Character Survey) only focuses on personality and character. Rpp is less discernible because it is not detected by the indicators, including the media, equipment, and learning resources used. Another drawback is the absence of output that can be evaluated due to time constraints over a long period of time.

The progress of science and technology causes cultural, social, political, and economic changes as well as the world of work. There are jobs that are missing or that are popping up according to today's profession. For example, the PAI teaching profession does not only know educational theory but needs to master various other disciplines. Because of this, it is necessary to increase the development of human resources for superior Islamic education graduates who are ready to go according to the needs of society, industry, and experience in the world of work. The purpose of this research is to find out the role of Islamic Religious Higher Education in improving and building superior human resources in the PAI Study Program after the publication of the independent learning-free campus curriculum. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach. The results of this study indicate that there is support for Islamic tertiary institutions to apply this policy, namely by making a design model for the implementation of the Merdeka curriculum program that is applied to the PAI study program. The design described is by providing three semester learning rights with three models in the implementation of lectures (block, non-block, and regular models). This program opens wide opportunities for PAI students to enrich and improve their insights and competencies in the real world according to their passion and aspirations.

As a kind of practice, Distancing is an important way to build relationships between individual and the external environment. Through relational perspectives, home is regarded as a relational space. Quality research methods—semi-interview, participated and non-participated observation— were used during the field work, in which the researchers have stay in the case from Jan. 9,2020 to Jan. 20, 2020. 17 old tourism migrants from 8 different countries have accepted the interviews. And their homes are consisted of personal social and physical aspects. Different aspects of home are not as equal as important but diverse, western old tourism migrants consider personal aspect of home is more crucial than physical and social aspect of home. The research conclusions deepen the research framework of the meaning of the home, point out the importance of distance practice for the construction of home, and at the same time enrich the understanding of the "ideal home" of the elderly, and recognize the importance of self-space and control of life to the elderly. - Abstract
The theme of contemporary society and its relationship with Psychoanalysis has been the subject of debate for some years now, with many possibilities for dialogue. Our text intends to work on some aspects of this ongoing debate. To achieve this goal, we provide a brief overview of the concept of the Father in Freudian and Lacanian psychoanalysis. Following this brief journey, we will focus on the work of Massimo Recalcati and his proposal to rethink what remains of the Father in our time. If the fundamentalist proposal is somewhat recurrent in the Brazilian context, this would have to do with a desperate attempt to reclaim the lost Father, whom both Freud and Lacan already pointed out as a dead Father. Finally, we front the hypothesis that the rise of the far-right movement in Brazil can be interpreted through this hermeneutical key. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The histories of incarcerated women exhibit a multitude of personality issues including psychopathy, trauma, and interpersonal dependency. Two studies were undertaken to better understand these issues with psychopathic (PCL-R ≥ 30; N = 115) and non-psychopathic (PCL-R ≤ 24; N = 53) women incarcerated for drug, theft, fraud, violence, and sex offenses. In the first study, trauma symptoms were compared on Rorschach variables, TSI-2, and PAI scales. The female psychopathic group experienced more problems related to intrusive experiences and dissociation (TSI-2, Rorschach). In the second study, interpersonal dependency was also examined with the PAI, TSI-2, and Rorschach. The psychopathic females had higher rates of interpersonal dependency (PAI, Rorschach). Based on our findings we discuss the relationship between trauma and interpersonal dependency and the meaning of these testing variables and concepts within the personality functioning of these antisocial women.
