BACKGROUND: Effective primary care necessitates follow-up actions by the patient beyond the visit. Prior research suggests room for improvement in patient adherence. OBJECTIVE: This study sought to understand patients views on their primary care visits, the plans generated therein, and their self-reported adherence after 3 months. METHODS: As part of a large multisite cluster randomized pragmatic trial in 3 health care organizations, patients completed 2 surveys-the first within 7 days after the index primary care visit and another 3 months later. For this analysis of secondary outcomes, we combined the results across all study participants to understand patient adherence to care plans. We recorded patient characteristics and survey responses. Cross-tabulation and chi-square statistics were used to examine bivariate associations, adjusting for multiple comparisons when appropriate. We used multivariable logistic regression to assess how patients intention to follow, agreement, and understanding of their plans impacted their plan adherence, allowing for differences in individual characteristics. Qualitative content analysis was conducted to characterize the patients self-reported plans and reasons for adhering (or not) to the plan 3 months later. RESULTS: Of 2555 patients, most selected the top box option (9=definitely agree) that they felt they had a clear plan (n=2011, 78%), agreed with the plan (n=2049, 80%), and intended to follow the plan (n=2108, 83%) discussed with their provider at the primary care visit. The most common elements of the plans reported included reference to exercise (n=359, 14.1%), testing (laboratory, imaging, etc; n=328, 12.8%), diet (n=296, 11.6%), and initiation or adjustment of medications; (n=284, 11.1%). The human body has two main types of sweat glands: apocrine and eccrine. Eccrine glands are widely distributed across the skin, including areas with hair. While the eccrine glands on palms and soles help improve grip, those on the rest of the body primarily aid in thermoregulation. Sudomotor function, which controls sweating, is regulated by the sympathetic division of the autonomic nervous system through cholinergic and adrenergic pathways. The activation of eccrine glands involves intricate processes, including neurotransmitter binding, ion channel modulation, and voltage generation. Sudoscan technology utilizes electrochemical skin conductance (ESC) to non-invasively measure sudomotor function. This method, which has been standardized for accuracy, has established normative benchmarks and has proven reliable across diverse populations. Sudoscan's diagnostic performance is comparable to invasive methods such as intraepidermal nerve fiber density testing, making it a valuable tool for diagnosing small fiber neuropathy. Moreover, it has been shown to correlate with corneal nerve fiber length, providing insights into various neuropathic conditions. Compared to traditional sudomotor function tests, Sudoscan proves superior in terms of its accessibility, simplicity, and reliability, with the potential to replace or complement existing diagnostic methods. It is important to differentiate ESC, as measured by Sudoscan, from other skin conductance measures, such as galvanic skin response (GSR) or electrodermal activity (EDA). Although these methods share a common physiological principle, ESC is specifically designed for diagnosing sudomotor function, unlike GSR/EDA, which is typically used for continuous monitoring. Sudoscan's success has led to its integration into consumer health devices, such as the BodyScan from Withings, showcasing its versatility beyond clinical settings. Future research may explore ESC applications in diverse medical fields, leveraging real-world data from integrated consumer devices. Collaborative efforts between researchers and engineers promise to offer new insights into sudomotor function and its implications for broader health monitoring. The past decades have seen increasing calls to actively involve publics in the governance of science and technology. Many public engagement initiatives aim to facilitate the formation of public opinion. But what is an opinion? While the notion is often taken as self-evident, different imaginaries of what opinions are and how they should be formed are highly consequential for shaping relations between technoscience and society. Based on participant observations and interviews, we analyze how "opinion" is enacted as an emergent object and category with specific properties and uses in a series of public engagement events on genome editing. By identifying two prevalent goals tied to partially conflicting imaginaries of opinion—open deliberation and "capturing" public opinion—our analysis contributes to a more reflective understanding of the tensions that participation facilitators navigate when making opinions their central points of intervention in the coevolving relationship between technologies and their publics. We propose a new method that embeds speakers into a spatial representation according to the linguistic similarity of their contributions to a debate. Such "speaker landscapes" can be constructed quantitatively using word embeddings by annotating text corpora of speech samples by tokens representing the speakers. The way embeddings are constructed from predictive machine learning models means that speaker-tokens are placed closer together if they are easier to confuse given their speech samples. The result is a nuanced measure of similarity in speech which takes into account the wealth of linguistic signification and structure that the text prediction model can learn. We validate this tool using two South African case studies: the Twitter debate around the arrest and imprisonment of former president Jacob Zuma, and quotes from the news media about land reform. The results show that speaker landscapes make social qualities such as group membership and opinions evident, and we discuss how speaker landscapes open up new methods for studying opinion discourse with text data. Climate change enhanced by human beings has become one of the greatest challenges humanity has faced in its entire existence. In this paper, an analysis is made of the variables that influence the environmental perception of the population of thirty countries —28 European countries, USA and China—, in order to estimate the most explanatory factors and identify the causes of the appreciable differences in awareness between States. The study is based on a representative survey conducted between 2021 and 2022 among more than thirty thousand people in the above-mentioned countries. After a first level of aggregate analysis to establish perceptual differences between States, a more detailed study is carried out which, after considering a wide variety of socio-demographic variables, leads to the conclusion that the population's perception and awareness of the climate issue is markedly ideological. Nevertheless, within what is conventionally understood as awareness, it is possible to differentiate between multiple aspects: awareness of the seriousness, perception of impacts, predisposition to an eventual change in habits, support for government measures, etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of the study was to examine the rabbit consumption habits and opinions of people living in countries that regularly consume rabbit meat. Snowball sampling of data collection was used, a total of 1 860 error-free questionnaires were evaluated. Most of the completed questionnaires came from Hungary, Italy, Spain, China, Poland, France and Mexico. It is to note that 21.3% of respondents have not yet consumed rabbit meat: China (32.1%), Hungary (24.7%), Poland (22.4%), and France (4.8%). The main reasons for not consuming rabbit meat were emotional reasons (22.3%), it does not fit their dietary habits (15.7%). There are 28.7% of respondents who consume rabbit meat once or twice a year, 18.6% less often and 21.9% monthly. It was most often (weekly and monthly) consumed in Spain (25.3% and 36.8%), in Italy (15.3% and 36.2%), in France (1.6% and 38.7%, respectively). Men, aged 40 to 59, secondary school graduates, and those having a higher income eat rabbit meat more often than other groups. The highest scores (near to 4.5 on a 1-5 scale) were given for the health aspects of rabbit meat, such as high protein, omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins, and low fat and cholesterol contents. In order to encourage the consumption of rabbit meat, different marketing campaigns should be carried out in each country, depending on the standard of living, production intensity (large-scale or small-scale) and place of purchase (supermarket or local market). Correspondence and Opinion provide a ‘human voice,’ serving as the captivating elements that grab readers' attention and stimulate contemplation. The extent of ChatGPT's involvement in writing raises controversy. We tested ChatGPT's capability to generate readable Correspondence or Opinion, producing an English Opinion from a Japanese abstract. We also tasked ChatGPT with creating Correspondence and Reply for an English→German translated Opinion. Opinion, Correspondence, and Reply output here were found to be readable and reasonable. While preliminary, these results suggest that ChatGPT can generate such articles, prompting serious concern about AI taking over the ‘human voice.’ Some regulatory measures may be needed. The capacity to leverage information from others' opinions is a hallmark of human cognition. Consequently, past research has investigated how we learn from others' testimony. Yet a distinct form of social information--aggregated opinion--increasingly guides our judgments and decisions. We investigated how people learn from such information by conducting three experiments with participants recruited online within the United States (W = 886) comparing the predictions of three computational models: a Bayesian solution to this problem that can be implemented by a simple strategy for combining proportions with prior beliefs, and two alternatives from epistemology and economics. Across all studies, we found the strongest concordance between participants' judgments and the predictions of the Bayesian model, though some participants' judgments were better captured by alternative strategies. These findings lay the groundwork for future research and show that people draw systematic inferences from aggregated opinion, often in line with a Bayesian solution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Earth has >8 billion people. Scholarly publications number nearly 7 million annually with >1 million in the life and biomedical sciences, and ≥52 professional journals specializing in conservation, ecology, or related disciplines. The challenges of applying ecological data to conservation and wildlife management can easily become overwhelming. Herein we offer reflective perspectives about the changing face of applied knowledge and engagement from our personal employment histories as ecologists working in agency, university, and non‐governmental organization (NGO) biologist positions. We suggest natural history will always be nature's glue, but knowledge steeped mostly in muddy boots and field biology are no longer the soup du jour of our profession. In many ways, new technologies have changed data collection and the scientific questions asked. Arguably, such change is not welcomed by all, but a change in overlap across decades is needed to sustain and improve upon how the planet's biological diversity can coexist with increasingly difficult human conditions. Given that 80% of the people in the United States live in urban areas, with similar numbers internationally, a future possibility may be an even greater divide between wild nature, ecological services, and enjoyment in the field. Bu araştırmanın amacı, ortaokullarda okutulan seçmeli Masal ve Destanlarımız dersine ilişkin Türkçe öğretmenlerinin görüş ve uygulamalarını tespit etmektir. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden durum çalışması deseni kullanılarak gerçekleştirilen araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2023-2024 eğitim öğretim yılında devlet okullarında görev yapan 29 Türkçe öğretmeni oluşturmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmış, elde edilen veriler içerik analizi kullanılarak çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, öğretmenlerin çoğunluğu dersin okutulması gerektiğini düşünmektedir. Dersin okutulmasını savunanlar, kültür aktarımını önemli bir gerekçe olarak belirtirken karşı çıkanlar ise benzer içeriğin Türkçe dersinde yer aldığını vurgulamıştır. Öğretmenlerin dersle ilgili yaşadıkları en büyük sorunlar arasında kitap ve materyal eksikliği ile öğrencilerin ilgisizliği öne çıkmıştır. Katılımcıların derste video izletme, yaratıcı yazma ve okuma etkinliklerini sıkça kullandıkları görülmüştür. Ölçme ve değerlendirme yöntemi olarak ise en çok açık uçlu sorular tercih edilmiştir. Öğretmenler dersle ilgili materyal ve kaynak yetersizliğinden yakınmış, ders kitabının hazırlanması, kaynakların belirlenmesi ve etkinlik kitaplarının hazırlanması gibi önerilerde bulunmuşlardır.

Abstract Background: All the existing frameworks of Health-Emergency Disaster Risk Management have put great emphasis on the use of educational strategies to be used as a mean of disaster risk reduction (DRR). Thus, this study was conducted to formulate experts' consensus on DRR educational strategies for Middle East/North Africa (MENA) countries. Methods: A Delphi study on expert's opinion for DRR educational strategies was carried out through surveys in two consecutive rounds through convenient sampling technique. Results: A total of 60 responses were included in this study. Most of the participants were Saudi nationals, physicians (36.7% vs. 33.3% in round 1 and round 2, respectively), and males (73.3%) with experience in disaster management (56.7%) of 5-10 years (60% vs. 53.3% in round 1 and round 2, respectively). Around 80% participants suggested that graduate health professional education should be through problem based learning (PBL) approach (36.7%) (P-value = 0.007). Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework implementation required provision of multiple means of engagement as priority (P-value = 0.007). Best learning situation category was institution based (60%) with best approach for DRR learning as planned scheduled learning (P-value = 0.000). It was found that best learning situations were lectures and small group sessions (73.3% each) (P-value = 0.165) that were delivered through learning management system (90%) (P-value = 0.103), while the major stakeholders that should be involved in national DRR educational planning were Ministry of Health (90%) (P-value = 0.881). Non-banking financial institutions (NBFI), including microfinance institutions (MFIs), pawnshops, leasing companies, and insurance corporations, have become essential for financing the Romanian economy, contributing to the diversification of funding sources and supporting economic growth. NBFI have demonstrated their ability to provide flexible and accessible financing solutions, particularly during crises. As of the end of 2022, lending activities constituted the majority of NBFI portfolios, with consumer loans being the primary source of household financing. Loans extended to non-financial corporations experienced significant growth, with many denominated in euros. Additionally, there has been an increase in loans granted to non-residents. Between 2019 and 2023, outstanding balances decreased as a percentage of total amounts owed, while the number of debtors with arrears saw a slight increase. In the European context, NBFI have become increasingly important for financing non-financial corporations, indicating a significant rise in the proportion of loans provided by these institutions. These developments underscore the pivotal role of NBFI both domestically and globally.

A growing interest in healthy diets has increased demand for fish and seafood, with aquaculture playing a crucial role in meeting this need. Developing new aquaculture products can enhance their commercial value and address consumer demand, but it is unclear which products will be well-received. This study aimed to generate ideas for new products derived from sea bream and prawns, and to gather consumer opinions on these ideas, segmented by gender and age. Two methodologies were used: focus groups and Check-All-That-Apply (CATA). In the focus groups, with two sessions per species and 10 participants each, ideas for aquaculture products were generated and categorized as fresh, dehydrated, fermented, marinated, and canned. The CATA technique, applied to 387 individuals, assessed the acceptability of fresh species, yielding average scores of 6.6 for sea bream and 6.8 for prawns. Sea bream was associated with products like fillets and long-shelf-life loins, while prawns were linked to snacks and toppings. In conclusion, the use of tools like focus groups has shown promising results for developing new aquaculture products. CATA analysis indicated that sea bream should be minimally processed with a long shelf life, and prawns should be processed into dehydrated products. Artificial intelligence (AI) in business coaching, as in other human resource development professional service roles, opens up the possibility of multiple chances, such as cost- and time-effective gains. However, as AI can act autonomously and may surpass human performance, it can both lead to unforeseen risks as well as create a threat for professional service workers, including business coaches. Using a within-subject threat manipulation design, the present research investigated whether business coaches (N = 436; from over 50 different countries) respond to the topic of AI in coaching with heightened threat-related affective states and how this change affects their attitude towards the topic. Expectedly, the topic evoked higher behavioral inhibition and lower behavioral activation threat-related affective states, leading to lower curiosity in and a more negative opinion of AI in coaching. Theoretical and practical implications are addressed to lower the coaches' threat-related affective states towards AI application in professional services. Digital India is an initiative taken for the citizens to access the government services in a digital forum. The government is trying to confirm the vision and pillars of digital India program by investigating the citizen's perspective on digital services. This current study aims to investigate the citizen awareness, explore the citizen opinion on digital India services and to determine citizen opinion on features associated with digital India services. This research is based on descriptive research design and target populations are the Citizens of Tamil Nadu. The sampling method used in this research is non-probability convenience sampling with a sample size of 505 participants. Structured questionnaires using Likert 5-Point scale was used to collect data. The findings exposed that the awareness and perception of digital India services towards digital India initiative at Tamilnadu was highly valued and they recognized that the Citizens are aware about digital India service features and advantages having the optimistic view on digital India initiative. This research study suggests that keeping citizens involved with the digital India services is the most significant aspect and it leads them to feel self-confident and self-reliant towards better results. Kant's theory of assent seems to combine two incompatible claims that (i) we are responsible for our assent and (ii) we have no direct voluntary control over our assent. But how can we be responsible for something over which we have no direct voluntary control? Scholars have tried to resolve this tension by arguing that, according to Kant, assent is under our indirect voluntary or intellectual control. This paper defends a different solution. It is argued that contrary to first impressions, Kant is actually committed to the view that most assent is under our direct voluntary control, which, in turn, accounts for our doxastic responsibility. In recent years, the attention paid to the metaverse in the scientific world has increased; the hottest topics include system architecture and enabling technologies, as well as business, privacy, ethical, and security issues. On the other side, at the mainstream level, it is well known that the company Meta (formerly Facebook) is striving to realize its interpretation of a "social" metaverse. As Meta is a big leader of social media, it is reasonable to guess that, in the future, users will participate in a new social platform, such as that which the company is building by depicting unlimited and engaging opportunities. Regardless of Meta, we ask what the opinion of people is about this possible future scenario. A literature search of previous works about this topic has been done; the few results we found were not properly on topic and showed heterogeneous content. A survey on interpretations of the metaverse of major information and communication technologies (ICT) companies that impact the consumer world was undertaken; the results show that Meta is the most prominent company with the mission of building a "social" metaverse worldwide. Finally, a draft of a tool for assessing the predilection of people for a "social" metaverse, based on various facets of the future social platform, is proposed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper presents a quantitative and contrastive analysis of expressions of effective stance in conservative newspaper opinion articles related to irregular immigration and humanitarian crises involving refugees in both English and Spanish contexts. Drawing upon the seminal works of Langacker (2013) and Marín-Arrese (2021a, 2021b, 2023), the study examines six fundamental categories of effective stance expressions established according to factors such as orientation towards self or others, degree of control about the realisation of the event, and agreement with social norms. The dataset under examination comprises a 120,000-word corpus of opinion articles obtained from two conservative newspapers, The Telegraph from the United Kingdom and El Mundo from Spain. The words are evenly distributed, with each newspaper contributing 30,000 words in articles pertaining to three humanitarian crises involving refugees: Syria (2015), Afghanistan (2021), and Ukraine (2022-2023), and 30,000 words relating to articles on irregular immigration coinciding in time with each of the three refugee crises. The primary objective of the paper is to discern notable differences between the two newspapers and across the different refugee and irregular immigration crises under investigation. The analysis of the results, which uncover a larger number of effective stance expressions in the English subcorpus as well as distributional differences of subcategories across the subcorpora in both languages, provides a valuable understanding of the intricate patterns of usage and distribution of effective stance expressions within the realm of newspaper discourse, thereby enriching our comprehension of journalistic portrayals concerning the complexity of refugee crises and migratory movements. This paper studies the interaction between viral spread and opinions during a viral pandemic, and the optimization problem of how to control infection rates and opinions. In our model, we incorporate two control inputs to minimize both the inter-community infection proportions and variations in individuals' perceptions of the disease. The optimization problem is transformed into solving an Hamilton–Jacobi–Bellman (HJB) equation. Using single-critic neural network and approximate estimation neural network, we determine the optimal control law of the optimization model. We perform parameter fitting of a virus-opinion coupled network model using SARS-CoV-2 pandemic data from Johns Hopkins University. Compare the fitted data with the actual data through the Pearson correlation coefficient to evaluate the reasonableness of the initial fitted values. The aim of this study is to determine the attitudes and opinions of pre-service social studies teachers regarding astronomy education. Astronomy education, which deals with topics such as supernovae, asteroids, black holes, solar system and space, is considered important in understanding the situations encountered in daily life and having an idea. The research, which was designed according to the survey method, was conducted in the 2023-2024 academic year. Quantitative data were obtained according to the "Astronomy Attitude Scale (ATS)" adapted by Türk ve Kalkan (2017), and qualitative data were obtained with the "Interview Form" developed by the researcher. Independent t-test and One Way ANOVA were used to analyze quantitative data. Content analysis was used to analyze qualitative data. Among the variables of the study, it was determined that grade level, gender, academic grade point average, whether or not to follow scientific publications, and the settlement unit lived in before starting university did not affect the attitudes of pre-service social studies teachers towards astronomy education. According to the qualitative findings, it was determined that they summarized that space and planets come to mind when astronomy education is mentioned, social studies courses are related to astronomy, pre-service social studies teachers do not have enough knowledge about astronomy, they need to know astronomy-related topics, the values and skills in the social studies curriculum can be gained through astronomy education, and astronomy science should be included as a separate course in the social studies teaching undergraduate program. Historic accounts posit immigrant ethnic groups adopt the anti-Black attitudes of their Anglo counterparts as they acculturate in the U.S. However, contemporary evidence suggests acculturated immigrant co-ethnics may not be more likely to possess anti-Black appraisals and oppositive attitudes toward Black socio-political interests vis-a-vis their less acculturated counterparts. Drawing from reactive ethnicity and segmented assimilation theory, we posit the threatening contemporary immigration enforcement context may undercut assimilation to Anglo anti-Black attitudes among Latinxs. Using two large nationally representative Latinx surveys, we demonstrate, relative to less acculturated Latinxs, acculturated Latinxs threatened by immigration enforcement adopt attitudes concerning Black people and Black political interests akin to Black people while acculturated unthreatened Latinxs adopt or maintain attitudes closer to their Anglo counterparts. These findings suggest the extent of anti-Black assimilation among contemporary acculturated immigrant co-ethnics is conditional on the receptivity of the host society. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The phenomenon of urbanization over the last few hundred years has put people into certain patterns. The integrity of the soul, body, heart and mind of the person who moves from one closed place (home) to another closed place (workplace, school, hospital, shopping mall, etc.) every day and lives monotonously has begun to deteriorate in a way that prioritizes the body. This situation has revealed an insatiable type of person who tries to fulfill the desires of his soul and pursues pleasure. The most distinctive characteristic of this type of person is indifference. As a result of discontent, negativities such as envy, grudge, consumerism and waste may become widespread in society. The article first explains the meaning of opinion; The semantic framework of this concept is tried to be drawn by examining the relationship of contentment with Sufism terms such as faith, obedience, consent, patience, poverty, istiğna, gratitude, trust, solitude, asceticism. After giving information about the place of opinion in religion, Sufism and our culture, the main metaphors related to opinion created in classical Turkish literature are briefly explained. Subsequently, in Ali Şîr Nevâyî's divans named Garâ'ibü's-Sıgar, Nevâdirü'şŞebâb, Bedâyi'ü'l-Vasat, Fevâyidü'l-Kiber, which were selected as examples, the similes, dreams and imaginations created about opinion are classified; The data obtained is interpreted with the help of tables and graphs, and the results are evaluated. The aim of the study is to explain the dreams and imaginations created by Ali Şîr Nevâyî about the concept of opinion, thus to indirectly reveal the artist's perception of opinion in the social mentality of that age, and to contribute to the awareness of today's people and societies on this subject. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive method of neuromodulation with heterogeneous usage between countries, which may be potentially influenced by healthcare professionals' opinions. This study aimed to assess the knowledge, acceptability, and attitudes of mental health professionals in Spain towards TMS. A cross-sectional multicentric study was conducted using an online survey, with 219 participants including psychiatrists, psychologists, and residents. Nearly 100% of participants correctly answered theoretical aspects related to the rationale and indications of TMS. Although only 55% considered TMS effective, 80% would refer patients if TMS were available at their workplace, and 74% would undergo TMS if experiencing depression. 85% believed neuromodulation training should be increased in residency, and 73% demanded TMS inclusion in public hospitals. Teaching staff and psychologists defined TMS as a last resort (p = 0.03 and 0.045). Both disagreed on its ease of use (p < 0.001) and patient referral (p = 0.01), considering an impact on the therapeutic bond (p = 0.029). Previous TMS training, clinical experience, or availability of TMS at the workplace, were associated with better knowledge, a higher perception of efficacy and utility in treating resistant patients (all p < 0.05). In conclusion, surveyed mental health professionals in Spain demonstrated good knowledge of the technique and positive opinions regarding its utility. Findings emphasized limited clinical experience of the sample, a call for training programs, and the demand for the inclusion of TMS in the portfolio of Spanish public hospitals. This article explores how fake news, variously described as misinformation, disinformation, malinformation, and post-truth threatens our pluralistic democratic life. We ask, how does fake news function in constructing a world of meaning that destabilises the conditions under which we are able to render valid political judgements in democratic life? Using the 1992 R v Zundel Supreme Court Case from Canada to explore the free speech question, and Hannah Arendt's distinction between fact and opinion, we argue that fake news uses the malleability of language to displace fact with opinion. This displacement threatens democracy in two ways. First, fake news functions by deploying language in such a way that it is built on refuting its own ability to produce factual knowledge, and in the process the world becomes one of opinion treated axiomatically. Second, as a consequence, it renders judgement impossible because the only information that counts is opinion, whereas judgement corresponds to the public character of factual knowledge. This displacement produces a pseudo-reality where we can imagine that only people like us live here, that is, people who share our own opinions. Recruitment to oral and maxillofacial Surgical (OMFS) specialty training was centralised in 2010. The 'flexibility' for OMFS to respond to specialty specific recruitment issues is reducing and many Specialty Trainees' (ST) posts are left unfilled. The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) appointment process designed to address the problem of recruiting and appointing academic surgeons with local selection with national benchmarking has worked. Using a database of all UK OMFS consultants/trainees, an electronic questionnaire was shared by e-mail, WhatsApp, and other social media. Of 306 replies, 125 (41%) were Consultants/post-certificate of completion training (CCT) individuals, 66 (22%) ST, 61 (20%) second degree students, 27 (9%) pre-second degree, 26 (9%) dual degree pre-ST trainees, and one did not indicate their status. A total of 249 (76%) studied dentistry first and 230 (75%) were male. Of those replying, 147 (48%) had no direct experience of national selection. 120 (39%) had experience as a candidate, 20 (7%) as a selector only, 17 (6%) as a candidate and selector, and two did not record their experience. Of 250 expressing an opinion, 156 (62%) supported local selection with 140 (56%) supporting local selection and national benchmarking, which is a process used for research training posts by the NIHR. Geographical continuity was most important for 78% of pre-second-degree trainees, 45% of STs, and 54% of second-degree students. A total of 57 respondents completed free text comments. There is support for changes in OMFS ST selection including creating OMFS posts which include Foundation and second-degree training in NIHR style locally recruited nationally benchmarked posts. The financial audit report is a valuable tool for ensuring financial transparency and integrity within a company. By presenting the audit results in detail, the report contributes to creating a relationship of trust between the company and its stakeholders. By evaluating procedures and systems, auditors can identify risks and deficiencies within the company, creating the opportunity for company management to act to improve processes by effectively managing resources and achieving set goals. Starting from the premise that by presenting correct and reliable financial information, the audit report provides management and shareholders with a solid basis for making well-informed and substantiated decisions, we set out to analyze the decision-makers' perceptions of the role and importance of the financial audit for business continuity companies. The research is qualitative, as it is about the realization of a situation survey, based on a questionnaire within several companies, the respondents being their decision-makers. The conclusions of our study can be a starting point for carrying out research in the field, the issue of the reliability of the financial and accounting information presented in the financial reports remains topical, even though digitalization tends to capture the field of accounting and auditing as well, the standardization of information is one of the consequences this process. Erasmus+ projects are important in implementing innovative approaches in the educational process. This study is designed as descriptive quantitative research to determine teachers' opinions about Erasmus+ projects in public schools. The study group consisted of 303 teachers who voluntarily participated in the research from the population of teachers working in public schools in Istanbul. The data are collected using a questionnaire prepared by the researcher by taking expert opinions. The first part of the form, which consists of two parts, contains personal information, and the second part contains questions about teachers' views on Erasmus+ projects in schools. ANOVA and t-tests are used to analyse the data. The findings showed that the teachers' opinions on Erasmus+ projects did not differ significantly by gender, institution of duty, professional seniority, and educational status. Also, the teachers had positive opinions about Erasmus+ projects. In addition, the opinions on Erasmus+ projects differed significantly in favour of those who previously participated in an Erasmus+ project, those who had been abroad within the scope of an Erasmus+ project, and those who wanted to participate in Erasmus+ projects. Background and Objectives: The healthcare system in Saudi Arabia is growing rapidly with the utilization of advanced technologies. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the Saudi public perceptions and opinions towards artificial intelligence (AI) in health care. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional web-based questionnaire study was conducted between January and April 2024. Data were analyzed from 830 participants. The perceptions of the public towards AI were assessed using 21-item questionnaires. Results: Among the respondents, 69.4% were males and 46% of them were aged above 41 years old. A total of 84.1% of the participants knew about AI, while 61.1% of them believed that AI is a tool that helps healthcare professionals, and 12.5% of them thought that AI may replace the physician, pharmacist, or nurse in the healthcare system. With regard to opinion on the widespread use of AI, 45.8% of the study population believed that healthcare professionals will be improved with the widespread use of artificial intelligence. The mean perception score of AI among males was 38.4 (SD = 6.1) and this was found to be higher than for females at 37.7 (SD = 5.3); however, no significant difference was observed (p = 0.072). Similarly, the mean perception score was higher among young adults aged between 20 and 25 years at 38.9 (SD = 6.1) compared to other age groups, but indicating no significant association between them (p = 0.198). Conclusions: The results showed that the Saudi public had a favorable opinion and perceptions of AI in health care. This suggests that health management recommendations should be made regarding how to successfully integrate and use medical AI while maintaining patient safety. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The radiology report is the primary means of conveying imaging findings between radiologists and clinicians. As a result, clinician satisfaction with the radiology report is an indicator of its quality and clinical relevance. It is crucial to identify factors that can enhance the radiology report in order to improve service delivery. Objectives: This study evaluates clinician and radiologist opinions, preferences and clinician utilisation of the radiology report. Method: Mixed quantitative and qualitative survey questionnaires were distributed in-person and online from December 2022 to February 2023 to a total of 287 clinicians and 43 independent medical practitioners specialising in radiology. Results: A total of 73.0% of radiologists and 56.5% of clinicians expressed satisfaction with the radiology reports. Additionally, 72.0% of radiologists expressed dissatisfaction with the history provided on the referral forms. It was found that 87.6% of clinicians read the radiology report, while 26.2% reviewed the radiological imaging without referring to it. Interestingly, 77.8% of clinicians preferred itemised listed reports, whereas 53.8% of radiologists preferred reports in paragraph format. It was discovered that 69.6% of radiologists and 65.4% of clinicians preferred a standardised reporting format. Conclusion: More than half of the clinicians and most of the radiologists expressed satisfaction with the radiology report. Both clinicians and radiologists showed a preference for a structured reporting format. A crucial element in constructing a good radiology report was having a relevant clinical history. The radiologist continued to be the preferred professional for interpreting radiological imaging. Contribution: This survey was a good starting point for improving communication between clinicians and radiologists. This will ultimately result in reports that are more useful to clinicians and radiologists who have a better understanding of what should be included in reports and how they should be structured.

The human body has two main types of sweat glands: apocrine and eccrine. Eccrine glands are widely distributed across the skin, including areas with hair. While the eccrine glands on palms and soles help improve grip, those on the rest of the body primarily aid in thermoregulation. Sudomotor function, which controls sweating, is regulated by the sympathetic division of the autonomic nervous system through cholinergic and adrenergic pathways. The activation of eccrine glands involves intricate processes, including neurotransmitter binding, ion channel modulation, and voltage generation. Sudoscan technology utilizes electrochemical skin conductance (ESC) to non-invasively measure sudomotor function. This method, which has been standardized for accuracy, has established normative benchmarks and has proven reliable across diverse populations. Sudoscan’s diagnostic performance is comparable to invasive methods such as intraepidermal nerve fiber density testing, making it a valuable tool for diagnosing small fiber neuropathy. Moreover, it has been shown to correlate with corneal nerve fiber length, providing insights into various neuropathic conditions. Compared to traditional sudomotor function tests, Sudoscan proves superior in terms of its accessibility, simplicity, and reliability, with the potential to replace or complement existing diagnostic methods. It is important to differentiate ESC, as measured by Sudoscan, from other skin conductance measures, such as galvanic skin response (GSR) or electrodermal activity (EDA). Although these methods share a common physiological principle, ESC is specifically designed for diagnosing sudomotor function, unlike GSR/EDA, which is typically used for continuous monitoring. Sudoscan’s success has led to its integration into consumer health devices, such as the BodyScan from Withings, showcasing its versatility beyond clinical settings. Future research may explore ESC applications in diverse medical fields, leveraging real-world data from integrated consumer devices. Collaborative efforts between researchers and engineers promise to offer new insights into sudomotor function and its implications for broader health monitoring. This study provides a comprehensive overview of ESC, including topics such as eccrine gland physiology, sudomotor function, Sudoscan technology, normative benchmarks, diagnostic comparisons, and potential future applications.

La columna es el género más libre e impreciso del periodismo. En virtud de dicha libertad, los columnistas se presentan como protagonistas de sus propios textos e, incluso, la columna se convierte en el tema principal de la propia columna. Esta práctica da lugar a la metacolumna, una rareza periodística que no ha sido suficientemente estudiada. Este análisis se centra en el escritor Antonio Muñoz Molina y desentraña de qué forma, y con qué objetivos, el columnista habla y reflexiona sobre su propio trabajo. Para ello, se ha elegido una etapa completa del escritor en el periódico El País, la que abarca los textos publicados en el suplemento cultural Babelia durante 15 años. La muestra analizada está conformada por 731 columnas periodísticas publicadas por el autor desde octubre de 2007 hasta octubre de 2022. Los resultados del estudio muestran que, para Muñoz Molina, el artículo de opinión ha sido el marco vehicular con el que definir su propia columna, analizar su evolución como escritor o columnista, enumerar sus modelos y sus valores, establecer los límites deontológicos del género e incluso resolver conflictos con sus compañeros de profesión. Ello ha propiciado que el tema del columnismo, aunque a gran distancia de la literatura y del arte —los dos asuntos fundamentales en la muestra, pues protagonizan más del 65 % de los textos—, tenga una notable presencia, tanto cuantitativa como cualitativa, en el conjunto de las columnas analizadas.

La pandémie a été l’occasion, pour beaucoup d’enseignants, de découvrir ou d’approfondir leurs connaissances et compétences en formation à distance (FAD). Qu’ils aient déjà de l’expérience ou non, il a fallu passer dans l’urgence de la présence à la distance pour s’adapter aux exigences des mesures sanitaires. Ce faisant, les représentations et opinions concernant la FAD ont pu évoluer. Alors que l’urgence dans laquelle s’est opérée le passage à la FAD pourrait avoir détériorer le point de vue des enseignants concernant ce mode de formation, quelques données recueillies lors d’un sondage tendent au contraire à révéler un accroissement de l’appréciation de celui-ci à tous les ordres d’enseignement. Cependant, les avis ne sont pas uniformes et il est possible de s’interroger sur la représentativité de l’échantillon de répondants ainsi que sur les liens entre représentations et pratiques. Cet article ne fait ainsi qu’ouvrir une discussion qui mériterait d’être poursuivi à la lumière d’autres données.

This study aimed to analyze farmers' opinions, its role to household welfare, and the factors that influence the likelihood and intensity of exotic poultry adoption among rural chicken producers. To attain this, 155 households were targeted for interview. To this end, a multistage sampling procedure was administered to select households. Accordingly, quantitative data was backed by the qualitative data so as to bolster its credibility. Thus, the qualitative data was obtained through focus group discussions and key informant interviews. The result revealed that for enhanced market demand of chickens and egg production capacity among other allied factors farmers were interested with its production though exposure to disease and predators, absence of rural vaccination services, and the need for more care were also identified as challenges of production. Furthermore, exotic poultry producers’ get advantage over their non-exotic poultry producers as a result of the sale of eggs and a live chicken. The producers improved their diets notably for egg and chicken meat. This also implies that exotic poultry producers were better at food diversification than their counter part using the days recall method. The model output, on the other hand, showed that household size, farming experience, farm size, sex, off/non-farm income, livestock holding, distance to market, and access to credit service were all statistically significant at 1 %. The study suggests that focusing on key factors influencing the adoption and use of exotic poultry will help maintain and increase their adoption rates.
