The aim of the experiment was to investigate the effect of glucose precursor complex on perinatal nutritional metabolic disease, production performance, serum ions and immune indexes of cattle. Six young Holstein cows with similar health, body condition, weight and gestation days were randomly divided into two groups with three replicates in each group and one cow in each replicate. Cows in control group were fed with a basic diet, and those in experimental group were fed with a basic diet supplemented with 350 g/(head·d) of glucose precursor complex. They were fed from 28 d prenatally and prefed for 7 d until 30 d postpartum. The results showed that the addition of glucose precursor complex, the addition time and the interaction between the two had no significant effect on content of blood ketone and blood glucose in perinatal new born cattle (P>0.05). Different time had significant effect on milk yield, lactose and milk protein content (P<0.05), and had extremely significant effect on milk fat percentage (P<0.01). Different treatments and different time had significant effect on serum sodium ion content of perinatal new born cattle (P<0.05). The content of serum calcium ion in perinatal neonates was significantly affected by different time (P<0.01). The content of IgA, IgM, INF-γ and IL-4 in serum of perinatal new born cattle were significantly affected by different time (P<0.05). The study indicates that the addition of glucose precursor complex in perinatal diet can significantly increase the content of lactose, and prevent postpartum ketosis, hypocalcemia and improve body immunity.
