The regional source–grid–load friendly interaction and precision regulation of adjustable resources with high sensitivity provide important support for the development of a new power system, improving its regulation ability and efficiency and promoting the safe, efficient, and reliable operation. Therefore, a precision regulation strategy for a regional source–grid–load friendly interaction based on a double-layer sensitivity model is proposed in this paper. Firstly, from the two perspectives of power grid-application requirements and power node-adjustable resources, the overall implementation process of the double-layer sensitivity analysis method is described, and the layered logic architecture of the precision regulation platform for regional source–grid–load friendly interaction is constructed in order to realize and apply the proposed double-layer sensitivity model and precision-regulation strategy. Secondly, the first-layer power transmission line-sensitivity analysis model is proposed for the power grid side to obtain the power transmission line-sensitivity matrix. A fine-grained second-layer adjustable resources sensitivity-analysis model is further established for the diversified adjustable resource aggregated under the power node to complete the quantitative ranking of adjustable resource-regulation sensitivity. Then, the application process of double-layer sensitivity analysis results is designed in detail, and the regulation sequence and regulation quantity of source and load are defined. Finally, taking a power system with seven lines, five power nodes, two power sources, and seven types of adjustable resources as an example, the effectiveness and rationality of the proposed model and strategy are verified. The results indicate that the proposed precise regulation strategy can accurately select high-sensitivity power nodes and effectively sort high-sensitivity adjustable resources when solving the multiple scenarios' application needs of power grids. The complex structure and multiple controllability metrics of the new power system require a comprehensive assessment approach. We propose a controllability assessment method based on the Lagrangian function, analyzing key factors that influence controllability. Our index system includes distributed power supply utilization rate, energy storage station charge state, power factor, and voltage offset. Using Lagrange shadow price theory, we construct a guideline layer index system treating bottom indexes as constraints. We formulate an optimization function utilizing the Lagrangian shadow price theory and considering weights calculated from the bottom index’s shadow price. These weights inform primary evaluation. By combining primary evaluation results, weights, and variable coefficients using the percentage system method, we determine comprehensive evaluation results for the new power system’s controllability. Experimental results demonstrate the high reliability of this method’s evaluation indexes, indicating their effectiveness. This research provides valuable insight for the advancement of the new power system. Region 1 had the lowest overall evaluation score of 51.57 and was rated general. The overall score of Region 2 was 77.24, which was considered good. With the continuous expansion of the scale of bulk power grid, the operating characteristics of new power system has become more and more complex. Accurately identifying the weak links in the power grid is of great practical significance for improving the monitoring ability of the system and ensuring its reliable operation. Therefore, an identification strategy of weak links for power grid is proposed based on random matrix theory. The strategy uses the measured data in power grid operation to construct a random matrix and uses the weak links judgment index based on the random matrix theory to design the judgment method of weak nodes and weak branches. This method is analyzed from the perspective of data correlation, without considering the complex network structure and operation mechanism of the actual power grid, so there is no complex modeling process. To verify the feasibility of the method, an example simulation is established through the IEEE 39 node system and compared with the traditional methods. The results show that the proposed identification strategy has a good effect on identifying weak nodes and branches, and the accuracy is improved compared with the traditional methods. The new power system provides important support for the large-scale integration and efficient consumption of new energy into the power grid. New energy has entered an era of competition with traditional energy, and entire power systems need to be renovated and upgraded to enhance related auxiliary investments. From a systemic perspective, considering the low effective capacity of wind and solar new-energy power generation, it is necessary to increase investment in backup power capacity, flexible power supply, grid connection, and distribution, as well as other operational management system resources, in order to ensure the safe operation and power balance of the power grid. In this study, we focus on the comprehensive benefit evaluation of new investments in the power grid under the new power system, starting from the demand and classification of new investments in the power grid under the new power system. We then focus on typical project investments under the construction of the new power system, determining cash inflows and outflows within the investment cycle, establishing a full life-cycle economic benefit model that adapts to typical investments, and further analyzing the social benefits promoted by typical new investment in the power grid. We construct a social benefit model for various entities involved in power grid investment from the perspective of all members of society, distributed users, and power generators, covering multiple benefits such as economic benefits, reliability benefits, environmental benefits, driving economic benefits, and employment promoting benefits. Finally, we conduct an empirical analysis based on the typical scenario of promoting distributed photovoltaic technology in this new type of power system, targeting full spontaneous self-use. There are three modes of self-use surplus grid-connection and full grid-connection, and the comprehensive benefits of supporting investment in the power grid, such as economic benefits and social benefits, are calculated using the full life-cycle economic benefit evaluation method and the social benefit evaluation evaluation method. This study provides an important reference for solving the problem of missing and difficult to quantify evaluation systems for the new investment benefits of the power grid in the new power system. [Introduction] Under the vision of carbon peak and carbon neutralization, the construction of the new power system substations is imperative. [Method] To promote the transformation of traditional substations to new power system substations, a full-lifecycle green and low-carbon construction scheme for new power system substations was proposed. Focusing on electrical equipment, building structures, building equipment and integrated energy, the carbon emissions throughout the entire life cycle of substations were reduced, and the new power system substations were constructed and operated in a green and low-carbon manner. [Result] The results show that compared with conventional substations, the proposed green and low-carbon construction scheme not only improves the development and utilization of renewable energy and accelerates the low-carbon upgrade of power grids, but also promotes energy saving and consumption reduction of power grid equipment, reduces carbon emissions and O&M costs of substations, and improves the utilization level of basic resources of substations, thus improving the comprehensive economic benefits of the substations. [Conclusion] The proposed green and low-carbon construction scheme has certain universality and replicability. It can provide theoretical and practical guidance for the transformation and transition of substations, and lay the foundation for the low-carbon development of the power grid.

The coupling between modern electric power physical and cyber systems is deepening. An increasing number of users are gradually participating in power operation and control, engaging in bidirectional interactions with the grid. The evolving new power system is transforming into a highly intelligent socio–cyber–physical system, featuring increasingly intricate and expansive architectures. Demands for stable system operation are becoming more specific and rigorous. The new power system confronts significant challenges in areas like planning, dispatching, and operational maintenance. Hence, this paper aims to comprehensively explore potential synergies among various power system components from multiple viewpoints. It analyzes numerous core elements and key technologies to fully unlock the efficiency of this coupling. Our objective is to establish a solid theoretical foundation and practical strategies for the precise implementation of integrated planning and operation dispatching of source–grid–load–storage systems. Based on this, the paper first delves into the theoretical concepts of source, grid, load, and storage, comprehensively exploring new developments and emerging changes in each domain within the new power system context. Secondly, it summarizes pivotal technologies such as data acquisition, collaborative planning, and security measures, while presenting reasonable prospects for their future advancement. Finally, the paper extensively discusses the immense value and potential applications of the integrated planning and operation dispatching concept in source–grid–load–storage systems. This includes its assistance in regards to large-scale engineering projects such as extreme disaster management, facilitating green energy development in desertification regions, and promoting the construction of zero-carbon parks. With the rapid development of new power systems, diverse new power services have imposed stricter requirements on network resources and performance. However, the traditional method of transmitting request data to the IoT management platform for unified processing suffers from large delays due to long transmission distances, making it difficult to meet the delay requirements of new power services. Therefore, to reduce the transmission delay, data transmission, storage and computation need to be performed locally. However, due to the limited resources of individual nodes in the local power wireless communication network, issues such as tight coupling between devices and resources and a lack of flexible allocation need to be addressed. The collaborative allocation of resources among multiple nodes in the local network is necessary to satisfy the multi-dimensional resource requirements of new power services. In response to the problems of limited node resources, inflexible resource allocation, and the high complexity of multi-dimensional resource allocation in local power wireless communication networks, this paper proposes a multi-objective joint optimization model for the collaborative allocation of communication, storage, and computing resources. This model utilizes the computational characteristics of communication resources to reduce the dimensionality of the objective function. Furthermore, a mouse swarm optimization algorithm based on multi-strategy improvements is proposed. With the advancement of the national "dual carbon" strategic goals and the planning of new energy systems, the proportion of new energy connected to the power grid is rapidly increasing. Therefore, it is urgent to accelerate the planning and construction of energy storage, and promote the transition of the power system from "source-network-load" to "source-network-load-storage" multi entity coordinated evolution. In this context, from the perspective of energy storage as a regulatory resource, this article establishes a comprehensive evaluation index system for the power grid that fits the connotation of the new power system. The selection of indicators follows the SMART principle to ensure the application value and operability of the indicators; and uses the Analytic Hierarchy Process to calculate the weights of each indicator layer by layer. Taking the four provinces in Central China of State Grid as examples for analysis, the evaluation results of each province can be clearly quantified, among which Hunan has the highest comprehensive score. The research results of this article have certain guiding significance for the implementation and comprehensive evaluation of energy storage planning in various regional power grids. In view of the fact that most of the current research on power system chain failure is based on traditional power system, and the hidden fault, one of the important factors leading to chain failure, is ignored. Based on this, a novel cascading fault model of power system was constructed based on stochastic load flow (SLF) and cellular automata (CA) algorithms for hidden faults. Firstly, SLF was used to introduce wind power and photovoltaic units to construct a new power system, and the active initial power flow of each line in the system was calculated. Then, the CA algorithm was used to simplify the topology of the system, and the cell state was judged by the hidden fault probability model of power flow over limit, and the state of the cell and its neighbor was used for fault transmission to simulate the chain fault. Finally, the improved IEEE39-node system was taken as an example to verify the effectiveness of the model. [Introduction] Global climate change and its negative impacts are serious humanitarian challenges. Accelerating the construction of a new energy system and promoting energy transition to green and low-carbon are the key to addressing the above challenge. Building a new power system is the central link in planning and constructing a new energy system. [Method] The characteristics and challenges in the six stages of constructing a new power system with new energy source as the main body, and potential roles of energy storage were described and analyzed. The viewpoint that energy storage, especially long-term energy storage, is a key technology for building a new power system was proposed. [Result] To deal with vague concept, unclear technical system and undefined R&D system for long duration energy storage in China, by analyzing the international use cases, the concept system of long-duration energy storage and its technology system covering four categories (including mechanical energy storage, thermal storage, electrochemical energy storage, and chemical energy storage) are proposed. And the R&D trends in developed countries are shown. [Conclusion] It is expected that the relevant content can provide reference for the research and application of long duration energy storage in China.

[Introduction] Compressed air energy storage (CAES), as a long-term energy storage, has the advantages of large-scale energy storage capacity, higher safety, longer service life, economic and environmental protection, and shorter construction cycle, making it a future energy storage technology comparable to pumped storage and becoming a key direction for future energy storage layout. By summarizing the current status of CAES technology, the working principles, challenges, and solutions of different CAES technologies are analyzed, which is provided for the development of CAES technology through research. [Method] Firstly, the principle of CAES was introduced, the key equipment, such as compressors, turbo-expanders, and heat exchangers, was analyzed, and the key equipment suitable for the CAES was proposed. Then, the commonly used key technologies, development trends, and engineering cases of large-scale CAES were introduced from the perspective of ground key process technologies and underground gas storage facilities. Finally, the future development trend of CAES technology was analyzed. [Result] The results show that regenerative CAES is currently the mainstream technology in China, and high-temperature heat storage has become the future development direction of CAES, and is also an important way to improve the efficiency of CAES. At the same time, there is still room for improvement in key equipment and technology optimization, cost reduction, and application scenario development of the system. [Conclusions] CAES, as a long-term energy storage method, plays an important supporting role in the construction of future new power systems.

With the continuously challenges of energy and environmental, the development of distributed power generation technologies focused on renewable energy is rapidly advancing. Microgrid based on inverter power source is the important form of distributed generation, but it is difficult to isolate faults selectively and accurately when short circuit fault occurs in grid, and will result in overall shutdown. Aimed at the characteristics of inverter power sources and microgrid structures, a protection method based on equivalent distance for lines of source-grid-storage microgrid is proposed. Realtime information of the fault line is modulated into the terminal frequency by modulation techniques. Subsequently, virtual short-circuit currents are obtained via demodulation techniques, and fault distances are measured through equivalent internal potential. It is verified by theoretical analysis and simulation experiments in four tipical cases, such as single power source circuits, and this method can effectively calculate virtual short-circuit currents. These currents are equevlant to the virtual currents output when traditional rotating motors act as power sources. The proposed method can use the aforementioned virtual short-circuit current to determine the distance between the inverter power source and the fault point.

The energy revolution requires coordination in energy consumption, supply, storage and institutional systems. Renewable energy generation technologies, along with their associated costs, are already fully equipped for large-scale promotion. However, energy storage remains a bottleneck, and solutions are needed through the use of electric vehicles, which traditionally play the role of energy consumption in power systems. To clarify the key technologies and institutions that support EVs as terminals for energy use, storage, and feedback, the CSEE JPES forum assembled renowned experts and scholars in relevant fields to deliver keynote reports and engage in discussions on topics such as vehicle-grid integration technology, advanced solid-state battery technology, high-performance electric motor technology, and institutional innovation in the industry chain. These experts also provided prospects for energy storage and utilization technologies capable of decarbonizing new power systems.

Purposes The construction of new low-carbon power grids for the whole society has an important role in promoting the development of low-carbon economy, and the establishment of a new power system whole life cycle low-carbon evaluation index system is of great significance to the development of low-carbon power grid. Methods On the basis of the analysis of the whole life cycle of the new power system low carbon grid, three primary indicators of economy, reliability, and low carbon were constructed at first, and then nine secondary indicators were screened on the basis of the primary indicators to evaluate the low carbon grid. A comprehensive evaluation index system with a core evaluation index system of the new power system low carbon grid for the whole life cycle was established, and a detailed explanation of the significance of each indicator in the system was provided. Results By using a large amount of statistical data from the power grid, typical scenarios with different new energy ratios were established and simulated. The obtained evaluation results of low carbon indicators for different scenarios prove the feasibility of the low carbon grid evaluation index system established in this paper.

Purposes In the context of China’s “double carbon” target, energy saving and emission reduction have become one of the primary strategic objectives of current power industry. In addition to system safety, reliability, and economy, the power system also needs to introduce the “carbon emission reduction constraint” into all aspects of the system, which will present a new low carbon operation and management mode. Methods Aiming at the new power system carbon measurement and low carbon regulation and operation problems, a low carbon demand response scheduling strategy based on carbon emission flow is proposed. For the new power system, on the basis of analyzing the carbon emission influencing factors of each link of source-network-load-storage, an accurate carbon metering model based on the carbon emission flow theory is established, and a low-carbon demand response mechanism is set up with the dynamic carbon emission factor as the guiding signal to carry out optimized scheduling. Findings It is verified that the new power system source-network-load-storage coordinated optimal scheduling method based on low-carbon demand response can effectively stimulate the emission reduction potential of each link of the system, reduce carbon emissions and improve the rate of new energy consumption.

The high proportion of renewable energy and power electronic equipment is emerging as a significant trend and key characteristic of the power system development driven by the dual promotion of the energy transformation and scientific technological advancement. Major modifications have been made to the dynamic behavior of the new power system. The traditional small signal stability analysis approach is difficult to apply, and there are still urgent issues to be resolved for the quick change of operating conditions. In this paper, a Lyapunov direct analysis method of gradient dynamic deviation based on phasor measurement unit (PMU) data is proposed to analyze the small signal stability of the new power system. First, the PMU data matrix is used to reduce the dimension to obtain the low dimension matrix, which is substituted into the power system matrix model with a doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG). The diagonal matrix is obtained by solving the Lyapunov equation, and the positive definiteness of the matrix is determined to judge the system stability. Then, the dynamic deviation of corresponding state variable is calculated by solving the obtained diagonal matrix. The gradient descent method is applied to the corresponding state variable curve to iterate the extreme point value of curve. The time-weighted dynamic deviation of the whole oscillation process is calculated by time weighting, which provides guidance for the subsequent configuration position of damping stability controller, i.e., power system stabilizer (PSS). The method can improve the small interference stability of the system. The effectiveness of the fast stability analysis of the new power system is verified by simulations of the new England 10-machine 39-bus system with DFIG.

Abstract Under the new power system, a high proportion of new energy is widely connected to the power grid, and it is necessary to increase investment in centralized and distributed energy storage, flexible resource regulation, and transmission and distribution grids, resulting in an increase in power system costs. The current electricity capacity price does not reflect the economic value of the added system adequately, and flexible capacity is needed to ensure the safety of the power grid under the new power system. In the context of the transformation of the new power system and investment function, it is increasingly difficult to recover the costs according to the traditional electricity price. It is necessary to establish a coordinated development mechanism for the electricity capacity price and the electricity price that recovers the fixed costs according to the investment function to ensure a reasonable return on investment in flexible resources and to provide effective investment signals. Therefore, this work first studied and proposed a mechanism for the formation of capacity and electricity prices based on the proportion of allowed income and fixed costs at different voltage levels and calculates the level of electricity capacity (demand) prices and electricity consumption prices. Then, using the BARY curve, genetic algorithm, and clustering of user load rates, a collaborative mechanism between the electricity capacity price and the electricity price was designed. With the goal of optimizing the electricity capacity price and considering constraints such as the flexibility and reliability of the new power system, the ratio of the capacity cost allocated to the electricity capacity price by voltage level users to the capacity cost allocated to the electricity price was calculated, and the optimal combination of electricity capacity price and electricity price for different load‐rate intervals was determined. Finally, the effectiveness of the model was verified through numerical simulations. On the basis of the investment characteristics of the new power system, suggestions for a capacity pricing mechanism under the new power system were proposed from the perspectives of transfer capacity function, transfer electricity function, grid reliability, and environmental and social benefits.

Abstract Considering that the traditional investment project evaluation system can no longer fully adapt to the characteristics of the new power system under the investment environment of the new power system, this study constructed a new power system investment project evaluation and optimization method based on the combination of the cloud model, evidence theory and the TOPSIS method. First, 16 evaluation indexes were considered based on four dimensions, namely green and low‐carbon, safe and reliable, flexible and intelligent, and economical and efficient, and the optimal evaluation index system of new power system investment projects was designed. Second, the normal cloud model was used to obtain the evaluation membership distribution of each index and turn it into evidence. Considering the conflicts between indicators and the combinational contradictions of traditional evidence theories, an improved DS evidence theory based on a game weight coefficient discount to reduce conflicting evidence was used to fuse the membership information of multiple indicators. On the basis of the evaluation results of each scheme, this study used the TOPSIS method to sort the advantages and disadvantages of each scheme. Finally, the project of planning and putting this model into operation in the 14th Five‐Year project database of a power grid enterprise was selected as an example to carry out empirical analysis, and the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed model were verified.

The large amount of source and load uncertainty in new power systems poses challenges to the optimization of power supply and demand balance. The traditional optimization methods have not fully considered the uncertainty characteristics of different sources and loads. In this regard, a supply–demand balance optimization method based on ISAO-BiTCN-BiGRU-SA-IPBLS is proposed. Firstly, the ISAO algorithm is introduced into the hyperparameter optimization of BiTCN-BiGRU-SA, and the source and load interval prediction method based on LINMAP selection is proposed. Afterwards, a multi-objective optimization method for power supply and demand balance based on two-stage robust optimization is proposed. The first stage takes the daily planned output of adjustable power sources as the optimization variable, with daily operating cost, renewable energy delivery rate, and maximum loss in extreme scenarios as the optimization objectives. The second stage takes the daily operation of energy storage as the optimization variable and minimizes the maximum loss in the extreme scenario as the optimization objective. Finally, the method is applied to the county-level new power system in Hunan Province, China. The results show that the MAPE of the load and PV point prediction results in this work decreases by 13.43 % and 16.93 % after introducing the ISAO, respectively. Compared with the traditional Gaussian method, the Euclidean distance of error indicators between the load/PV interval prediction results in this work and the ideal results at an 85 % confidence interval decreases by 53.19 %/100 %. Compared with the traditional optimization method only considering economy, the work’s method improves the renewable energy delivery rate by 0.10 and 0.02 respectively, and reduces the maximum loss in extreme scenarios by 76.75 % and 3.62 % respectively on the maximum load day and maximum renewable energy output day.

With the increasing penetration of renewable energy resources, their variable, intermittent and unpredictable characteristics bring new challenges to the power system. These challenges require micro-meteorological data and techniques to provide more support for the power systems, including planning, dispatching, operation, and so on. This paper aims to provide readers with insights into the effects of micro-meteorology on power systems, as well as the actual improvement brought by micro-meteorology in some power system scenarios. This paper provides a review including the relevant micro-meteorological techniques such as observation, assimilation and numerical techniques, as well as artificial intelligence, presenting a relatively complete overview of the most recent and relevant micro-meteorology-related literature associated with power systems. The impact of micro-meteorology on power systems is analyzed in six different forms of power generation and three typical scenarios of different stages in the power system, as well as integrated energy systems and disaster prevention and reduction. Finally, a case study in China is provided. This case takes wind power prediction as an example in a power system to compare the performance when applying micro-meteorological data or not. The experimental results demonstrated that using the micro-meteorological reanalysis dataset with high spatial--temporal resolution for wind power prediction performed better, verifying the improvement of micro-meteorology to the power system to some extent. A large number of new energy power electronic equipment is connected to the new power system, and the high proportion of new energy brings huge volatility and randomness, so it is necessary to establish a systematic risk assessment system to adapt to the new power system. This paper has improved the neglect of environmental benefits and supply and demand balance in the existing indicator system and established an indicator system for the risk of the new power system from the five perspectives of safety, supply and demand, sufficiency, cleanliness, and flexibility through the analysis of the evaluation indicator system of the large power grid and the influencing factors of the new power system. The index weight of a new power system is established by means of the entropy weight–critic combination weighting method, and the comprehensive evaluation is carried out by combining it with the cloud model. Finally, the specific data of the new power system in Fujian Province from 2020 to 2022 are taken as an example to verify the feasibility of combining the combined weighting method and the cloud model, and it is concluded that the new power system in Fujian Province has been in a "low risk" operation state for the recent three years. With the large-scale growth and grid connection of intermittent renewable energy such as wind and solar, the problem of increasing renewable energy curtailment rate and system backup flexibility has become increasingly prominent. In order to solve the problem of high proportion of renewable energy scientific consumption and flexible and stable operation of energy system. We propose a flexible and economical dispatch method based on data-driven multi-regional power system. For the problem of economic dispatch of multi-area power system, a mathematical calculation model is established to satisfy the constraints of unit output, system power balance, unit ramp rate, and valve point effect, and to consider the requirement of minimizing the cost of multi-area power load comprehensively. Based on data-driven, this paper adopts an improved fruit fly optimization algorithm to quickly find the global optimal solution. The calculations are performed by IEEE6 simulation test system, and the results verify the feasibility of the proposed algorithm. The improved fruit fly optimization algorithm is compared and analyzed with other algorithms considering the quality of the obtained solutions. The results show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed algorithm in solving multi-area economic dispatching problems in real power systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Under the new power system, a high proportion of new energy is widely connected to the power grid, and it is necessary to increase investment in centralized and distributed energy storage, flexible resource regulation, and transmission and distribution grids, resulting in an increase in power system costs. The current electricity capacity price does not reflect the economic value of the added system adequately, and flexible capacity is needed to ensure the safety of the power grid under the new power system. In the context of the transformation of the new power system and investment function, it is increasingly difficult to recover the costs according to the traditional electricity price. It is necessary to establish a coordinated development mechanism for the electricity capacity price and the electricity price that recovers the fixed costs according to the investment function to ensure a reasonable return on investment in flexible resources and to provide effective investment signals. Therefore, this work first studied and proposed a mechanism for the formation of capacity and electricity prices based on the proportion of allowed income and fixed costs at different voltage levels and calculates the level of electricity capacity (demand) prices and electricity consumption prices. Then, using the BARY curve, genetic algorithm, and clustering of user load rates, a collaborative mechanism between the electricity capacity price and the electricity price was designed. With the goal of optimizing the electricity capacity price and considering constraints such as the flexibility and reliability of the new power system, the ratio of the capacity cost allocated to the electricity capacity price by voltage level users to the capacity cost allocated to the electricity price was calculated, and the optimal combination of electricity capacity price and electricity price for different load‐rate intervals was determined. Finally, the effectiveness of the model was verified through numerical simulations. On the basis of the investment characteristics of the new power system, suggestions for a capacity pricing mechanism under the new power system were proposed from the perspectives of transfer capacity function, transfer electricity function, grid reliability, and environmental and social benefits. Considering that the traditional investment project evaluation system can no longer fully adapt to the characteristics of the new power system under the investment environment of the new power system, this study constructed a new power system investment project evaluation and optimization method based on the combination of the cloud model, evidence theory and the TOPSIS method. First, 16 evaluation indexes were considered based on four dimensions, namely green and low‐carbon, safe and reliable, flexible and intelligent, and economical and efficient, and the optimal evaluation index system of new power system investment projects was designed. Second, the normal cloud model was used to obtain the evaluation membership distribution of each index and turn it into evidence. Considering the conflicts between indicators and the combinational contradictions of traditional evidence theories, an improved DS evidence theory based on a game weight coefficient discount to reduce conflicting evidence was used to fuse the membership information of multiple indicators. On the basis of the evaluation results of each scheme, this study used the TOPSIS method to sort the advantages and disadvantages of each scheme. Finally, the project of planning and putting this model into operation in the 14th Five‐Year project database of a power grid enterprise was selected as an example to carry out empirical analysis, and the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed model were verified. As an important component of the new power system, electrochemical energy storage is crucial for addressing the challenge regarding high-proportion consumption of renewable energies and for promoting the coordinated operation of the source, grid, load, and storage sides. As a mainstream technology for energy storage and a core technology for the green and low-carbon transformation of existing energy structures, the electrochemical energy storage technology still needs to be further developed to adapt to the challenges brought about by the rapid growth of energy storage scale and the increasingly complex energy storage system. This study analyzes the demand for electrochemical energy storage from the power supply, grid, and user sides, and reviews the research progress of the electrochemical energy storage technology in terms of strategic layout, key materials, and structural design. Moreover, it clarifies the development trend of electrochemical energy storage technologies and identifies the problems such as inconsistency in product specifications, deficiency in detection platforms, and disconnection between theory and practice. Future efforts need to focus on the following directions: key materials with high performance, high safety, and low cost; optimization and evaluation of the structures of energy storage devices; multi-energy complementary and intelligent design of the energy storage systems; and commercial application modes of electrochemical energy storage. Furthermore, it is necessary to strengthen pilot demonstrations, formulate an industry standards system, improve the infrastructure, and cultivate talent teams for energy storage, thereby ensuring the high-quality development of the electrochemical energy storage technologies and industry.

[Objective] As one of the seven key areas of “new infrastructure” development during China’s 14th Five-Year Plan period, the ultra-high voltage (UHV) projects are the backbone of China’s new power system and is of great significance to the transmission of clean energy. This study constructed a theoretical and methodological system suitable for the carbon emission measurement of UHV project construction in China, in order to clarify the carbon cost of project construction and assist project carbon management and the construction of new power systems under China’s “dual carbon” goals. [Methods] Based on the life cycle assessment method, this study broke through the cost list-based measurement system and for the first time constructed the carbon source emission inventory system for UHV project construction from the perspective of carbon footprint. On this basis, a grouping calculation method for project construction carbon emissions was proposed, which enhances the applicability and accuracy of the method. The calculation and carbon emission reduction potential evaluation of the ±800 kV UHVDC transmission project from Longdong to Shandong were conducted as an example. [Results] The results show that: (1) The method constructed in this article simplifies the calculation work to a certain extent, ensuring a relatively scientific and effective calculation of carbon emissions in the construction of ultra large transmission projects; (2) The overall carbon emissions in the construction phase are 3.367×106 tCO2e, with the main source of carbon emissions coming from non-traceable projects, accounting for 67.140% of the total; (3) The carbon emissions of unit investment are 1.667 tCO2e/10000 yuan, and the unit carbon emissions level of the large-scale super project in the power sector has not been improved. [Conclusion] The results verify the applicability of the carbon emission calculation method for UHV project construction formed in this study. The method provides a theoretical support for establishing carbon cost budgets for UHV projects in China, improving carbon emission management capabilities during the project construction phase, and assisting project carbon emission reductions. The study also revealed that fully utilizing the existing power grid foundation to plan project site selection and construction, innovating construction technology, introducing green materials, and application of digital technology in project construction management are highly promising paths of carbon emission reduction.

The grid-forming （GFM） control technology is instrumental in enabling converters to provide frequency and voltage support response akin to synchronous generators， thus bolstering the stability of the new power system. Nonetheless， a notable challenge lies in delivering grid support during fault current limiting. To this end， a strategy for fault current limiting in GFM converters based on measuring terminal and internal differential voltage orientation is proposed. In this approach， the angles of the positive and negative sequence current commands lag 90° behind the positive and negative sequence voltage differences. Additionally， the maximum magnitude of the synthesized vector of the current commands aligns with the converter’s overcurrent capability， which is equivalent to the generation of positive and negative sequence adaptive virtual inductance by control， respectively. This method obviates the need for direct virtual inductance value calculations and can maximize the maximum support capacity of the converter to realize the fault current characteristics resembling those of synchronous generators. The proposed fault current limiting strategy is validated by a simulation system built through PSCAD/EMTDC. The simulation outcomes affirm the strategy’s efficacy in delivering substantial grid support to the AC system while limiting fault currents.

With the proposal of a ''dual carbon strategy '' and the rising share of renewable energy sources, the resulting low-inertia problem has seriously affected the frequency stability of new power systems. This paper proposes a minimum inertial demand estimation of renewable energy considering new power system frequency constraints to enhance the power system inertia situational awareness and clarify the system operation boundary. Firstly, the frequency response model with multi-source renewable energy units and the time-domain mathematical expressions are established, and the frequency constraints and inertial demand of new power systems are given. The minimum inertial demand estimation model is constructed on this basis, which can be solved by the sparrow search algorithm (SSA). Ultimately, the applicability and practicality of the suggested approach are demonstrated and verified in IEEE 39-bus system. The case study results demonstrate the process can accurately calculate the inertial demand of renewable energy side considering system frequency constraints and give guidance for the stable operation of new power systems.

The new power system at the station level is the phased product of the large-scale and high-proportion penetration development of wind and solar new energy. The source network load storage system with the station area as the smallest adjustable unit is constructed by using energy storage +. Different from the traditional substation area system, the architecture of the new power system at the substation area level becomes extremely complex due to the change of access terminal attributes, interaction relationship and various business types. In order to systematically describe the new power system architecture at the station district level, this paper first combs and summarizes the relevant literature at home and abroad, and summarizes the literature related to the current substation District, wind and new energy access and energy storage system regulation. Secondly, from the perspectives of demand differences, common functional requirements and non functional requirements, the requirements of station area level new power system under different application scenarios are classified and analyzed in detail. Then, a new power system for different scenarios is designed, which is divided into local equipment layer, edge control layer, station management layer and centralized control layer from bottom to top, and the functions of each layer are described in detail. Taking Zhangjiajie scenery storage and charging comprehensive energy demonstration project as an example, this paper expounds the ways of terminal data access, transmission and visualization under the framework of Taiwan district level new power system, so as to provide reference for the networking of other similar projects. Finally, the research contents of this paper are summarized, and the contents that need further research in the future are prospected.
