This article explores the profound cultural impact of All India Radio (AIR) in Kerala through a posthumanist perspective, analyzing how the medium has shaped and been constructed by socio-cultural dynamics neglecting human centric agency. By inquiring AIR's role in Kerala’s social environment, this paper aims to manifest how a technological, social, and ecological element participates in the formation of regional identity and cultural practices. This paper argues that AIR's influence in Kerala can be understood through complex relationships involving human actors, technological advancements, and environmental factors, reflecting a posthumanist perspective that surpasses traditional anthropocentric analyses. One of the most obvious characteristics of Iran's protests in September 2022 is the emergence of a type of cyber activism that, unlike mass activism, is formed first in cyberspace. Networks have redefined social action and structure in our societies and have important consequences on production processes, power, and culture, challenging political systems, and creating legitimacy crises. The subject of the present research is important because cyber activism has an external aspect and has changed the shape of Iran's social movements. This article is based on the Twitter data analysis method and using MAXQDA. Referring to Castells' network society theory, it addresses this question: What role did the Twitter play in September 2022 in Mahsa Amini's social movement? This article shows that the Twitter, in the context of existing dissatisfactions and in the absence of active organizations and parties, has led to an increase in cyberactivism in Iran. This cyberactivism encompasses mass self-communication, occupation of urban space, horizontal leadership, globalization of messages, mobilization and guidance of public opinion, nationalism, the subjectivity of women, and their identification has been its external manifestation. There are many factors affecting educational practices. Changes in these factors create serious transformations in education. Some of the transformations are visible that imply a predictable future, while others have blurred influences which make the future forecasts difficult. Educational technologies often come and go but they all leave their marks on education when they are prevalent. In order to get prepared for the future, educators need to know which technologies will be dominant in the future practices of education. This article attempts to highlight the technologies that will be used commonly in the future education. It appears that virtual classroom, artificial intelligence, learning analytics, mobile applications, smart devices, extended reality, open educational resources, gamification, cloud computing, network society, post-truth, digital learning objects, online collaboration will be popular elements of educational practices in the future. On the other hand, social media, metaverse, and wearable technologies will lose their popularity in education to some degree. Technological development is a key factor for shaping social life, transforming the ways in which societies organize their production, mobility and communication processes. Since the beginning of industrialization, the pace of the transformations brought about by technological change has increased dramatically, and has further accelerated since the advent of the new digital technologies. These development processes has also impacts in terms of social, economic and environmental costs, a fact that has been addressed in the past few decades by various social movements as well as theoreticians, becoming a key issue in political and social discussion agendas. In this paper, we outline a historical perspective of these changes and their effects, from pre-industrial, industrial, post-Fordism and network societies, and we focus on the mobilizing potential of technological change. We analyze the role that technological interfaces play today in social transformation, as well as the implications for our present day that our interactions become increasingly intermediated by digital technologies. Finally, we discuss digital technologies and their impacts on social inequity. For the recent 3 years, there has been a growing research interest in adaptation to the new normality and crisis digitalization during pandemic. However, there are a little empirical researches in cultural organizations. This study is in line with some sorts of approaches of network society and autonomy. The aim of the research is to study how cultural institutions integrate into the network society through one of the critical elements in creating a network society – digitalization during COVID-19 pandemic. The study was conducted using a mixed methodology in 2021 in St. Petersburg. Three blocks of empirical data were collected and analyzed based on theaters, museums, libraries, and creative spaces: 67 questionnaires; 12 expert interviews; webometrics of social networks of 108 organizations. The key difficulties were the weakness of the technical base and the lack of competencies and specialists to produce content and attract an audience online. The key findings are three strategies of adaptation to the conditions of the new normality: deepening digitalization; hybrid and strategy of autonomy from digitalization. The strategy of deepening digitalization is typical mainly for libraries that are active online even before the pandemic. They found themselves in the most advantageous position by building and expanding the previously developed digital activity. The hybrid strategy was mainly characteristic of museums, which intensified the digitization of collections and introduced new formats, including broadcasts from previously closed repositories. The strategy of autonomy from digitalization is more inherent in theaters, for which the transition to online turned out to be the most difficult and in many cases impossible. Crisis digitalization has exposed the structural difficulties associated with (non-)willingness to transform the former autonomy into the new requirements of the network society. The aim of the article is to study the methodological aspects of the spiral dynamics of the development of the process of intellectualization in the context of globalization changes. The article discusses the features of the development of the process of intellectualization in the context of globalization changes through the prism of the theory of spiral dynamics. Spiral dynamics, as a conceptual model of the evolution of human consciousness, allows us to analyze the transformations of society at different stages of its development. The influence of globalization factors on the processes of intellectualization is studied, emphasizing the role of information technology, network society and knowledge economy. The article allocates that the synergetic evolution of human potential is based on different phases of order (stability – homeostasis) or chaos (crisis, danger) under the influence of endogenous and exogenous environment. The analysis of literary sources provided an opportunity to form a methodology for managing the intellectual potential of enterprises in the context of global transformations. The paper focuses on the interaction between different levels of consciousness that determine the evolutionary movement of society, and shows how these interactions form new paradigms of thinking and activity. Also, the challenges and opportunities that arise in the process of intellectualization are considered, strategic approaches to change management based on spiral dynamics are proposed. With the expansion of urbanization, numerous challenges and issues have emerged, rendering centralized top-down planning ineffective in urban management. Consequently, one of the most important approaches to creating a sustainable and inclusive city is focusing on the fundamental unit of urban planning, namely the concept of neighborhood and neighborhood management. A neighborhood encompasses three dimensions of physical planning, social organization, and governance. Among these, considering the governance dimension, examining contextual needs, and laying the groundwork for defining a neighborhood-centric model are of paramount importance. To elucidate the neighborhood management model in urban governance by adopting an exploratory-descriptive approach in the metropolis of Tabriz. This research employs a Partial Least Squares (PLS) approach as a second-generation non-parametric method of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). It validates a model by simultaneously examining the roles of variables. SmartPLS 4 software and questionnaire tools are utilized. Additionally, reliability tests, Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, composite reliability, validity, and average variance extracted (AVE) are examined for each component, indicating satisfactory reliability and validity. The sample size is calculated based on the total population of Tabriz in the latest census of 2016, which is 163,096 individuals, using the Cochran formula, resulting in 384 participants.The research findings indicate that among the factors in terms of effect size, the network society structure ranks first with an index value of 5.254, followed by urban governance, network society policies, social capital, and governance capacity with values of 2.873, 2.630, 2.555, and 1.695 respectively. Regarding the path coefficient index, urban governance ranks first with a path coefficient of 0.288, followed by the network society structure, network society policies, social capital, and governance capacity with coefficients of 0.268, 0.228, 0.204, and 0.181 respectively.The research concludes that in elucidating the factors effective in realizing the neighborhood management model, attention to the network society structure and its three characteristics—decentralization, virtualization, and intelligence, along with the freedom of activities, plays a fundamental role.i [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Rooted in social media complaints, cancel culture intersects with the dissemination of intentionally created false information, forming a complex web of dynamics. The study explores the multifaceted nature of cancel culture, its unintended consequences and the nuanced definitions surrounding it. The synthesis of erasure culture and fake news prompts critical reflections on the democratization of information, the protection of fundamental rights, and the potential risks to democracies of an unbridled online narrative. Scholarship that has studied the #EndSARS movement in Nigeria remains scanty. In contributing to debates surrounding the #EndSARS movement, we focus on the Niger Delta region and the effect of the movement on the people. Online interview of 20 participants across the region, reports from Amnesty International, the Human Rights Watch and Facebook posts provided data for the qualitative study. Castells' 'network society' enabled us to explain how youths formed a 'network of protesters' to resist a repressive police system. The article is devoted to the analysis of the role of local Internet communities in public and political communication. The perception of modern student youth of the socio-political role performed by local online communities is considered.The purpose of this paper is to identify the features of an active audience of social media attitude to the idea of the local Internet communities functioning in the context of solving socially significant issues and the sphere of state and municipal government. The aim of the article is to establish the presence or absence of a stable group of users who simultaneously consider local Internet publics and groups, and as a significant and effective mechanism for the development of a particular territory, and an instrument for the implementation of state and municipal policy.The theoretical basis of the study is the theory of the information society and the concept of “Local Internet Community”. The main empirical method is a sociological survey of student youth. The total sample of respondents is 292 people. The results of the survey have been processed using frequency and cross-sectional data analysis, and the corresponding contingency tables have been constructed.The results of the survey have showed that the vast majority of respondents agree that local Internet communities help in solving socially significant issues and create new opportunities for direct civic participation in solving such issues. The majority of respondents also has supported the idea that local online communities are an effective tool for implementing state and municipal policies. However, when answering this question, the audience’s opinion has been seriously divided, many survey participants have not agree with this idea or found it difficult to answer. A cross-sectional analysis of the survey data has made it possible to identify the presence of a relatively large group of respondents who are optimistic about the role of local Internet publics and groups both in resolving issues significant to society and in pursuing an effective state and municipal policy. A generalized conclusion has been made about the importance of using local online communities for political and public actors in the performance of their functions.

This contribution seeks to understand the pervasive phenomenon of work compulsion among knowledge workers in our present network society. Knowledge workers not only have to work all the time from anywhere, but they also appear to want to. This study argues that this curious phenomenon may be attributed to the thumotic satisfaction that knowledge work generates. What is more, the neoliberal theory of human capital has found a way to harness thumotic satisfaction to the profit incentive, and has created arguably the most productive working subject to date. The argument is divided into four parts: First, the paper analyses the government(- ality) of control operative in the network society by defining "neoliberalism". It then focuses on Foucault's examinations of German and American neoliberalism in the 20th century, treating them as instances of governmentality. The aim is to assess whether employing a governmentality lens is a valid approach for critically analysing present-day neoliberalism. If it proves justifiable, which I argue it does, the study explores the potential valuable insights gained from examining contemporary neoliberalism through this particular analytical framework. Second, the study turns to the "spiritedness" of knowledge workers under the conditions of stealth control that typify the neoliberal network society. Curiously, these highly engaged workers have reportedly experienced increased overall well-being. However, their overinvestment in work appears to be disproportionate to absolute necessity, increased earnings or improved overall quality of life. This paper contends that work compulsion generates and is in turn fuelled by thumotic satisfaction. Third, the study tries to ascertain the connection between neoliberal governmentality and thumos. Neoliberal governmentality appears to have found a way to appropriate thumotic satisfaction to produce and sustain the competitive entrepreneurial spirit. Technology is rapidly transforming the landscape of land ownership and housing transactions, creating new types of consumer risk and new regulatory challenges. As markets, legal systems, and housing consumers navigate the new opportunities and risks of "platform real estate" (or "PropTech"), the underlying land laws, policies, and practices that produce the material context and legal framework for real property transactions, and against which consumer risk and regulation must be understood, require "re-scaling." In this article, we offer a theoretical framework for this re-scaling project, drawing on our earlier work to develop Resilient Property Theory (RPT) for analysing complex, large-scale property questions using methods that—in a departure from liberal property theories—pay attention to the public role of the state. Against a backdrop in which narratives of private property law defined real property transactions as "private realm" activities, while consumer law and policy provided the vehicle for state-backed regulation of specifically defined transactions based on a risk-based approach, this article brings the state back into view to reflect on new configurations of risk in consumer housing transactions. In the de-materialized realm of the "network society," networks, platforms, and innovations are recalibrating housing transactions. In this data-driven world, land transactions are financialized, depersonalized, and increasingly remote from the materiality of land and the consumption of housing. As new capabilities in digital land transaction systems reach back into the underlying law of ownership, official (state), insider (global capital markets), and outsider (social movement activists) networks have evolved to leverage their relative positionality. This article uses techniques developed in RPT to examine the re-scaling of risk in real property and housing transactions through digital network technologies. We consider the implications of resilience needs in the network society in relation to the public sovereignty of the state, the private sovereignty of land ownership, and practices of resistance to public and private sovereignty through "housing hacktivism." Finally, we argue that conceptions of consumer vulnerability and risk and embedded ideas about the relationships between private property law and consumer law and policy in real property transactions must evolve to take account of these effects. IntroductionVirtual social networks have created a revolution in communications, interactions, and sharing of ideas. They have become a vital and effective factor in the emergence and life of protest movements. The aim of this research was to obtain the formation pattern of protest movements in Iran in the context of social networks. Under the influence of virtual social networks, the recent protest events in a wide range of cities all over the country were found to face severe shocks in Iran's official political space and it put many effects on the country's cyber space policymaking by creating a new trend in the implementation and organization of social protests. The common point of these events, i.e., the nationwide scope of the protests, was community-oriented, indicating the prominent role of virtual social networks so that it could be said that relying on new media technologies was very evident in terms of mobilizing resources and organizing protests in these protest movements. Using the theory of the network society, this article tried to answer the question of what pattern existed between the use of virtual social networks and the formation and evolution of protest movements in the country. Using in-depth and semi-structured interviews with academic elites in the field of communication and political science, this article attempted to investigate the mobilization mechanism of protest movements through social networks. Materials & MethodsTo achieve the mentioned goal, 14 elites related to the subject were selected through targeted sampling by using a qualitative approach and the method of content analysis. In-depth and semi-structured interviews were conducted both face-to-face and non-face-to-face by using online communication software due to the spread of the Corona disease. Coding and data analysis of the conducted interviews were done manually by using the method of Bravan and Clark (2006). In addition to collecting the primary data by conducting semi-structured interviews with the interviewees, the secondary data from such sources as government websites, reports, books, and articles were used to identify the key events and processes related to the study events in order to facilitate the research line. Discussion of Results & Conclusions78 key concepts, 26 compact semantic units, 7 sub-themes, and 3 main themes were organized. The research findings showed that social networks affected the protest movements based on 3 general themes: "normization", "mobilization and organization", and "field reaction". Social platforms can help protest movements in 3 stages: Normization is the stage of creating community interest and support for a movement. Social movements in the context of social networks try to polarize the society and convince people to join the formed protest movement. In the second stage, the technological possibilities of new media, such as low cost, high speed, and wide range of information exchange create structures for achieving goals in the movement according to the mental readiness of the polarized society. In the third stage, protests enter the real space following the virtual space. Due to the fact that physical protests disrupt the city life, the police have to deal with it. Here, videos of protesters and police-clashing quickly go viral on the social networks, providing an opportunity to create a new cycle of protests. Production of multiple protest cycles in short time intervals causes social instability and reduces social security. It seems that the studied protest events indicated improvement of the situation and limited changes in the framework structure of the political system. Although a revolutionary approach could be seen in the semantic and rhetorical structures of these movements, they could not reach the stage of institutionalization despite their success in the stage of social norming and social agitation. When they reach formalization, they can be classified as reform movements. In social movements, supporters of the movements use different tactics in social networks to normalize, mobilize, and organize people and bring them to the stage. Although the current trend showed the importance of the new communication tools for the creation and survival of protest movements, the power of the government in controlling the Internet bandwidth and filtering social networks revealed that the government could weaken the protest movements by removing the support cycle of web-based social platforms. By emphasizing on maintaining social security and preventing the destabilizing political and security scenarios, these movements failed to achieve their goals.

Introduction. The image of a woman helps to construct one’s understanding of the world, relations in society, ideas about the Other. This article is devoted to a critical analysis of the transformation of the image of a woman in a network society. Theoretical analysis. Today, the position of rejecting gender differences, which serve as one of the sources of human culture, is increasing in society. A crisis situation arises, accompanied by the loss of gender self-identification, the violation of internalization and existential frustration. In the network image of society, women are polyvariant and solve it by interpreting the actor who uses it, but a person acquires and manifests his or her generic essence only in the intuitions of the social essence, with the help of transcending. Conclusion. We come to the conclusion that the image of a woman in a network society is constructed by means of a pseudo-democratic mythologeme, which implements the illusion of freedom and leads to the full autonomy of individuals, which is the cause of alienating a person from society and thereby from himself/herself. The proposed way out of the existing gender identity crisis is by means of transcending communication, which includes signification.

Introduction. The issue of the article is devoted to the study of the institution of education in the network society from the standpoint of socio-philosophical analysis. Theoretical analysis. Using various methodological approaches, it was found out that the modern institute of education undergoes serious transformations on institutional, spatial and functional levels. In the conditions of network reality education institution includes not only educational and upbringing practices but also represents one of the central socio-economic actors which sets positive dynamics of the state development in the most important strategic directions. The author of the article asserts the central place of education as an institution that generates and transmits knowledge, which is capable of becoming an epistemic base for further development of the network society. Conclusion. The author concludes on the hybrid nature of the institution of education in the network society. On the one hand, mass digitalization has set a new moral-ethical and technological system of coordinates, but on the other hand, education is still connected to the classical classroom learning, live human communication, the value foundations of each subject of education. Such a complex dual nature of the institution of education in a network society testifies to contradictory social processes, by examining which social philosophical science can critically assess modern social existence.

In this thematic issue, we present research from authors who seek to contest, challenge, and reimagine what digital inclusion is and what it might be. Authors present work from understudied vantage points and “hard to reach” terrains, such as communities that remain geographically, technically, socially, economically, and metaphorically “disconnected”—sometimes by choice. Through their attention to the role of intangible factors like relationality, social capital, emotion, sovereignty, and liminality, the articles collectively push against and expand the boundaries of digital inclusion research and practice.

With the development of the network society, the life of college students is shrouded by the network society, and there are more and more channels for them to contact various kinds of information, which brings new challenges to their ideological and ideological behaviors. We need to use the correct, active, positive way to increase the ideological network political education of students. It presents ongoing research that considers Institutional Repositories as digital informational environments favorable to Open Science, included in the categorization called "Network Society". In the Network Society, communication and sharing of information and knowledge by the subject is possible through technological devices with access to the internet and, from the perspective of scientific knowledge, network communication reaches both scientists and society. Institutional Repositories, by externalizing the scientific production of researchers at an institution, contribute to the formalization of a network for sharing free scientific knowledge, favoring open access. It is important to think about Information Architecture to provide information in an understandable way, making search systems easier to retrieve information and making it easier for individuals to find information. As a discipline that comprises the design and structuring of digital environments, Information Architecture can assist in the access and use of scientific information by the subject in an Institutional Repository. It aims to analyze Institutional Repositories at the level of functioning, policies, functionalities, and management with a focus on the context, content, and user dimensions of Information Architecture. Methodologically, it is a qualitative research approach that is configured according to six dimensions: epistemological dimension, political dimension, theoretical dimension, technical dimension, ethical dimension, and morphological dimension. It uses documentary research, content analysis and a questionnaire aimed at managers of Institutional Repositories from different institutions as techniques. Discussion of Results & Conclusions 78 key concepts, 26 compact semantic units, 7 sub-themes, and 3 main themes were organized. The research findings showed that social networks affected the protest movements based on 3 general themes: "normization", "mobilization and organization", and "field reaction". Social platforms can help protest movements in 3 stages: Normization is the stage of creating community interest and support for a movement. Social movements in the context of social networks try to polarize the society and convince people to join the formed protest movement. In the second stage, the technological possibilities of new media, such as low cost, high speed, and wide range of information exchange create structures for achieving goals in the movement according to the mental readiness of the polarized society. In the third stage, protests enter the real space following the virtual space. Due to the fact that physical protests disrupt the city life, the police have to deal with it. Here, videos of protesters and police-clashing quickly go viral on the social networks, providing an opportunity to create a new cycle of protests. Production of multiple protest cycles in short time intervals causes social instability and reduces social security. It seems that the studied protest events indicated improvement of the situation and limited changes in the framework structure of the political system. Although a revolutionary approach could be seen in the semantic and rhetorical structures of these movements, they could not reach the stage of institutionalization despite their success in the stage of social norming and social agitation. When they reach formalization, they can be classified as reform movements. In social movements, supporters of the movements use different tactics in social networks to normalize, mobilize, and organize people and bring them to the stage. Although the current trend showed the importance of the new communication tools for the creation and survival of protest movements, the power of the government in controlling the Internet bandwidth and filtering social networks revealed that the government could weaken the protest movements by removing the support cycle of web-based social platforms. By emphasizing on maintaining social security and preventing the destabilizing political and security scenarios, these movements failed to achieve their goals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: A neighborhood is a social-spatial concept. neighborhood management methods include the three dimensions of physical quality, social arrangement, and governance manners. Concerning the third dimension, recent decades have witnessed a shift from centralized towards decentralization processes and network society.Data and Method: The present study had a fundamental goal and used an explorative-explanatory approach. This study used a systematic and structured view to review the theoretical literature on neighborhood management and related concepts. Using, the MICMAC software, the study analyzed the extent to which factors affected and were affected by each other. In the end, driving factors were extracted. For this, 61 factors in five categories of network structure, network society policies, urban governance, governance capacity, and social capital were identified, and provided to 15 experts in the form of a 61*61 matrix, using questionnaires, and via a purposive sampling method.Results: Results indicated that 19 driving factors contributed to investigating the neighborhood management of the urban governance of the city of Tabriz, out of which the factor “revision of the laws and urban development plans” was more important, while the factors “active adaptation to the environment”, “the non-exclusive right of special groups”, “the content of laws enacted”, “the enjoyment of the open urban culture”, “focus on the “solidarity between people to produce knowledge” took the next ranks.Conclusion: The results were found to be used as a framework to investigate the neighborhood management position in urban governance. In this connection, urban development plans and rules, and their revision contributed to this.

The novelty of the research consists in the need for a theoretical analysis of large-scale changes that occur in modern society under the influence of the rapid development of information and communication technologies. Social changes are reflected by scientists in the framework of the concepts of “information”, “post-industrial”, “technotronic”, etc. society, and each author identifies his own reasons for the genesis and main features of the current stage of development of Western technological civilization, which represents a certain problem of its social and humanitarian knowledge. The purpose of the research is to analyze the influence of information technologies on the main social subsystems within the framework of a civilizational approach to the development of Western European civilization using the results of the original research of M. Castells, dedicated to the idea of a network society, In the article the author considered the features of information technology revolution of the last third of the XX century which had changed the shape of industrialized countries of the West. In his research he relied upon the principles of determinism and historicism, and the idea of technogenic civilization, according to which the decisive role in the mechanism of social determination of modern society belonged to its production subsystem, which, through various mediating links, determined the state of other spheres of society. He also the consequences of the revolution for all social spheres of technogenic societies, including the formation of a global information economy, a social structure of a network society, and “real virtuality” culture. It has been concluded that network structures in the post-industrial economy become the basis for the sustainable development of all public spheres, allowing to combine high rates of social development and sustainability of basic social institutions.

Sosyal medyanın insan yaşamında yoğun bir şekilde yer almasıyla birlikte mahremiyet kavramı yeniden sorgulanmaya başlanmıştır. Güvenlik politikaları gereği hayatın birçok anında güvenlik kameraları tarafından gözetleniyor veya özel bilgilerin veri depolarında toplanıyor olması hayatın normali haline gelmiştir. Bu normalleşme ağ toplumu insanının, sosyal medyanın sunmuş olduğu şeffaf, görünür, herkese açık yaşam tarzına uyumunu kolaylaştırmış, paylaşımlar mahremiyet ihlaline rağmen yapılır olmuştur. Üretilen her yeni teknolojik aletin insan yaşamına etkisi tarih boyunca gözlemlenegelen bir gerçekliktir. Ağ toplumuyla birlikte gündelik yaşamın bir parçası olan mobil akıllı telefonlar ve bu telefonlar aracılığıyla zamana ve mekâna bağlı olmaksızın kullanılabilen sosyal medya uygulamaları, kullanıcılarında yeni davranış kalıpları oluşturmuştur. Toplum içerisinde ağyardan gizlenen ve ifşa edilmesi hoş karşılanmadığı için ayıplama, kınama, dışlama gibi yaptırımlarla karşılık bulan özel durumlar, rahatlıkla toplumun nazarına sunulur hale gelmiştir. Bu durum, toplumun büyük bir kesimini oluşturan sosyal medya kullanıcılarında mahremiyet kavramının çerçevesinin genişlediğini göstermektedir. Buradan hareketle bu araştırmada, fotoğraf ve kısa video paylaşmaya imkân veren WhatsApp durum paylaşma özelliğinin, mahremiyeti dönüştürerek kullanıcılarında yeni davranış kalıpları oluşturup oluşturmadığı ilişkisel tarama modeliyle irdelenmiştir. Sosyal medyanın mahremiyet anlayışına etkisi üzerine yapılan akademik araştırmalar son zamanlarda yoğunlaşmıştır, ancak WhatsApp durum paylaşma özelliği özelinde bir araştırmaya rastlanmamıştır, bu yönüyle araştırma önem arz etmektedir. Yeniden sorgulanmaya başlanan mahremiyet kavramı ve sosyal medya üzerine literatürde yapılan tartışmalara ortak olmak, tartışmayı WhatsApp durum paylaşma özelliği bağlamında ele alarak literatüre katkı sağlamak hedeflenmiştir. Analizler sonucunda elde edilen çıkarımlardan, kullanıcılarda yeni davranış kalıpları oluştuğu, mahremiyet anlayışının değiştiği, kavramın kapsam alanının genişlediği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

This article examines sociopolitical discourse in the democratic network society of Taiwan from translingual and transnational perspectives. Ten multimodal memes from two YouTube videos and the associated metapragmatic comments were analyzed. This study combined a discourse-historical approach and translingual analyses of YouTube users' meme-related discursive strategies, which link historical and political rhetoric to recently circulated linguistic ideologies and cultural stereotypes. This study suggests that the discursive processes of meme-making and interpreting on social media can be understood as networked publics' performative acts in participatory entextualization with larger sociohistorical formations. The results may provide insights into the translingual practices in the specific multilingual society of Taiwan and into broader everyday democratic participation in a globalized transnational network. This text addresses the issue of the quality of life of Polish retirees from the babyboomers generation, putting the question whether, and if YES, to what extent and extent it differs from the level of life of their peers living in individual countries of the European Union. Special attention is paid to the various forms of participation of seniors both in social life and in the digital world. The theoretical basis of the undertaken analyzes is interdisciplinary and refers to the concept of quality of life in the context of aging processes. The data included in the analysis comes from official statistical sources obtained from databases of government agencies. A comparison of selected indicators illustrating the quality of life of the elderly in Poland and beyond its western border proves the existence of large inequalities to the detriment of Poles. However, the assessment of objective parameters does not always correspond to the most important estimate, which is the subjective sense of the quality of life held by a given person. Introduction. The article characterizes post-folklore as a cultural phenomenon of the network society and defines various aspects of its functioning - sociocommunicative, cultural and psychological. The research methodology consisted of a set of basic approaches, principles and methods of scientific research. To achieve the goal, a set of general scientific and special methods was used, including the methods of logical analysis, problemchronological, generalization, synthesis, induction, and analogy. Research results. It has been proven that post-folkloric creativity is important for the development of social communications, as it promotes the exchange of information between users of social networks, conveys people's knowledge, moods, feelings, and emotions. In the cultural aspect, the works of post-folklore appear as cultural heritage of modern urbanized society and are represented by various types and genres. From the point of view of psychology, post-folklore has an impact on individual and social consciousness, on the development of cognitive processes, etc. The emergence of post-folklore in the field of education is separately mentioned, which indicates its important importance for the formation of the worldview of school youth. Conclusions. Today post-folklore is the subject of scientific research as a phenomenon of mass culture and network society, as a means of social communication, as a phenomenon that has an impact on public and individual consciousness and is gradually being established in the field of education. In the era of accelerated development of information and communication technologies, everyone has the opportunity to become a collector or author of post-folkloric creativity. The environment of governance in the global arena, affected by social networks and the inevitable characteristics of the era of the network society, has undergone fundamental changes, and these changes, updating and creating transformations in the governance environment "in", "on" and "through" » It makes social networks obvious and inevitable. Therefore, the following article seeks to provide a desirable and effective model for playing an authoritative role in the future of cyber equations in the world, so that in this way it is possible to participate in the international role-making of the cyber field. In order to achieve the goal of achieving the desired model of digital governance in the era of network society, while using the method of document observation and library studies, by obtaining the methods of using other countries from this space for the expansion and development of domestic and international governance, The two approaches of "open governance" and "control governance" and the effects of each, if adopted, and how they are placed in international relations have been discussed. The results of the present study show that despite the fact that some people believe that the approach of open governance in the international arena by countries is the dominant approach, a combination of both and based on the system of societal issues has an effect on their cyber governance practices. Therefore, the ideal model of digital governance is flexible authoritarian governance based on the system of issues that should be adopted by countries in the domestic and international arena. In this thematic issue, we present research from authors who seek to contest, challenge, and reimagine what digital inclusion is and what it might be. Authors present work from understudied vantage points and “hard to reach” terrains, such as communities that remain geographically, technically, socially, economically, and metaphorically “disconnected”— sometimes by choice. Through their attention to the role of intangible factors like relationality, social capital, emotion, sovereignty, and liminality, the articles collectively push against and expand the boundaries of digital inclusion research and practice. This article offers a critical examination of the role played by migrants' online communities. With much of scholarly analysis focusing on the new ways in which online groups enable migrants to connect, interact or socialise together in digital space, little attention has been paid to how these groups are actually formed, by whom and with what motivations. Drawing on qualitative interviews with moderators of online groups created by EU migrants living in Wales, UK, our findings reveal the diverse and sometimes ambivalent roles played by these groups, acting not only as networks of support for migrants ('communities of interest') but also driven by commercial motives. To capture the impact of this commercialisation and the complexity in the field, we introduce the notion of 'communities for interest'. The article thus offers new empirical and conceptual contributions that advance our understanding of migrants' online communities beyond the much-discussed online/offline and virtual/real dichotomies. The aim of the article is to explore the theoretical tension between structure and agency as laid out by Manuel Castells, from The Rise of the Network Society (1996) to Networks of Outrage and Hope (2012). With agency and structure recognized as the two main axes around which general social theory rotates, Castells' work appears to be affected by discontinuity rather than continuity. The first part of his theory mainly deals with structure and with the "pre-eminence of social morphology over social action", while the second is rather based on agency, and namely on the role played by grassroots movements. I will retrace his theoretical evolution while also stressing the point that network and society are not one and the same. Therefore, any all-embracing theoretical perspective is destined to miss the target, considering that technical, political, and social affairs follow different rules and patterns. The theory of the network society, in my own version, was originally elaborated in the book that, under the title The Rise of the Network Society, I published in 1996. It was revised and updated in the 2000 and 2010 editions. However, the significant social change that has taken place on a global scale in the last decade provides an opportunity to reassess its heuristic value. Starting from the interpersonal communication theories that have incorporated the use of information and communication technologies (Walther, 2007, 2011, 2017) and the perpetual interconnectedness to understand human behavior in interaction with others (Walther et al., 2015), the current paper approaches challenges brought by the network society in the way we bridge our online and offline self. Castells' concepts are primarily used to explain macro-phenomena, for example, social movements (Castells, 2015), political and socio-economic transformation around the world (Castells, 2017), and to a lesser extent in discussing meso-phenomena, such as social isolation, exhaustion, the commodification of human interactions and interpersonal conflicts arise as part of individual's adaptation to the Information Age. The current paper creates links between Castells' main concepts of the network society theoretical framework and three meso-theories used in the interpersonal communication field to explain people's online behavior in interaction by focusing on the characteristics of the communication medium: The social presence theory, Media richness theory, and the Social Identity Model of Deindividuation Effects (SIDE). Sharing Castells' optimism on how network society creates efficiency and innovation in human interactions, we draw attention to less optimistic aspects related to the constant pressure of constructing relationships through virtual reality. 2021 marked the 25th Anniversary of Manuel Castells' The Rise of the Network Society, the first volume of the Information Age trilogy. The Trilogy immediately became one of the most influential works to understand the societal change in the wake of the digital revolution. More than two decades later, many of the emerging processes theorised and analysed in the Trilogy have reached full maturity, if not evolved in unexpected ways. Also, several theoretical and epistemological trends have developed or consolidated in the social sciences that have either been influenced by or challenged the Trilogy position. In this scenario, is the Network Society Theory still relevant for understanding today's digitalised society? How should we develop the Network Society approach now? This special issue aims to answer these questions. In particular, in this collection of papers, we identify three interrelated dimensions: new developments in the evolution or disruption of the Network Society, the articulation between network logics and other spatial forms, and the relation of the Network Society with recurrent topics in Castells' work beyond the Information. The papers are a selection of the contributions to the online workshop The Network Society Today: (Revisiting) the Information Age Trilogy (November 2–30, 2020), in which Prof. Castells also participated. This volume brings together a wide range of established and emerging scholars from a diversity of Social Sciences disciplines with plural theoretically informed papers tackling rich empirical case studies across the world, spanning throughout America, Europe, Africa and Asia. Scholars and journalistic accounts have devoted growing interest to the centralizing trends characterizing platforms and the "platform society." They often oppose this model to the alleged openness, horizontality, and "equality" they attach to "networks." Such depictions seem willing to give up on a thorough consideration of network structure, which appears nowadays less fundamental to reflect on the digital world (and society) than it was 25 years ago. Or even question whether the network society model, as proposed by Castells, is unsuitable for describing contemporary society. In our opinion, the dichotomy opposing the (alleged) openness and egalitarian nature of networks (and of the network society), to the current centralization trends characterizing the platform society, as well as the subsequent assumption that networks are an outdated heuristic tool, derive from a misunderstanding of networks' structure and dynamics. Scholars have shown that the structure of most complex networks can be defined as "scale-free," following a power-law distribution. Complex networks, indeed, show the tendency for some nodes to become more interconnected than others (thus becoming "hubs"). In this, the understanding of network structure proposed in Castells (1996), contrary to the rhetoric considering networks intrinsically as "egalitarian," is still a conceptual and analytical tool of the utmost importance for understanding the so-called "platform society." This paper focuses on networks, network models, and the network society, reviewing what was proposed in Castells (1996). We argue that the social and platform ecosystem we are witnessing today can be understood from the perspective of scale-free networks and is, indeed, consistent with the premises provided in 1996.
