Some retailers encourage consumers to mention the names of frontline service employees when writing online reviews. As a result, although most consumers do not pay attention to frontline service employees' names during consumption, they often see them in online reviews. The effect of this asymmetry on review persuasiveness is still unknown. This research examines the impact of mentioning frontline service employee names in online reviews on readers' likelihood of being persuaded by them. The results of one secondary data analysis and four online experiments from China demonstrate that readers are less persuaded by positive online reviews mentioning (vs. not mentioning) frontline service employee names, and perceived deception mediates this negative effect. In addition, the level of required service expertise, occurrence frequency, and review valence moderate this negative effect. For services that require a high level of expertise, when the occurrence frequency of positive reviews mentioning frontline service employee names is low, and when the reviews are negative, the aforementioned negative effect diminishes. Our study offers a new direction for name research and identifies a new factor that influences online review persuasiveness. Our findings provide valuable managerial insights into online review management strategies in the Chinese context. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract Aims Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are a leading cause of mortality and morbidity in the North Africa and Middle East (NAME) region. Due to the paucity of research on this issue, we aimed to estimate the burden of CVD and its attributable risk factors in the NAME region. Methods and results Data from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) were retrieved to estimate the incidence, prevalence, deaths, years of life lost, years lived with disability, disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) for CVD across 21 countries and both sexes. From 1990 to 2021, the incidence of CVD increased, but the age-standardized incidence rate slightly declined. The prevalence of CVD rose, with stable age-standardized prevalence rates. Additionally, the age-standardized DALY rate decreased from 11421.8 to 7353.8 per 100,000 people. Men consistently had higher rates of incidence, prevalence, deaths, and DALYs compared to women. Ischemic heart disease, stroke, and hypertensive heart disease were the leading causes of DALYs. Furthermore, high systolic blood pressure, dietary risks, and high LDL cholesterol were the top risk factors across NAME countries. countries with a history of war or ongoing conflict experience higher rates of death, disease burden (DALYs), and disease incidence compared to countries without such a history. Conclusion Despite the Progress in reducing the CVD burden in the NAME region, CVD remains a major public health problem, specifically due to significant sex disparities and various socio-economic factors. The study highlights the need for targeted interventions addressing these disparities and socio-economic determinants. Clinical trial number not applicable.

This research examines the toponymy of beaches in Belitung using the socio-onomastic approach. The names of beaches in Belitung Regency were studied using written and oral data. The written data was obtained from three maps, i.e., the map from the Geospatial Information Agency, the geological map of Belitung and the digital Google Maps. The oral data was obtained through interviews with resource persons and informants in Belitung. Based on map searches and interviews, seven beach names and the origin of their names have been obtained, as follows (i) Tanjung Tinggi Beach, (ii) Tanjung Pendam Beach, (iii), Penyabong Beach, (iv) Tanjung Kelayang Beach, (v) Tanjung Binga Beach, (vi) Bukit Berahu Beach, and (vii) Batu Bedil Beach. In addition to these beaches, there may be other beach names worth examining. Beach names in Belitung Regency have four naming patterns: (i) beach toponyms with elements of topography, (ii) beach toponyms with elements of topography and fauna, (iii) beach toponyms with elements of topography and flora, and (iv) beach toponyms with elements of sound. Sometimes, a beach has more than one name. From socio-onomastics perspective, it is a natural phenomena, because names of place have various characteristics and influence people’s preferences in using names.

NATURALISM , *LANGUAGE & languages , *VOCABULARY - Abstract
In the Cratylus, Plato addresses the question of the orthótes onomáton, the “accuracy” or “adequacy” of names regarding what they would name. Two positions come into play regarding such adequacy (the conventionalism of Hermogenes and the naturalism of Cratylus), both of which are dismantled by the Platonic Socrates. But only two? Isn’t there in the Cratylus at least an indication of a possible Platonic “adequacy”? This paper presents that possible “adequacy”. For this, the difference between name (or “natural” name) and word is discussed, as well as the need to anchor designation in essences; above all, it is shown that it is necessary to consider the question of name in relation to that of logos. For that purpose, an interpretation of the Cratylus is articulated with some passages from the Phaedo and the Sophist. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

GROUP identity , *PERSONAL names , *SOCIAL hierarchies , *SOCIAL change , *PREJUDICES , *CASTE - Abstract
What is the role of humor in obfuscating social hierarchy? This article describes how caste prejudices among male taxi drivers in Uttarakhand in the Indian Himalayas are enacted through the humor of calling each other "funny" names. Such humor is directed toward Dalit drivers whose proper first names are replaced by "funny" names that caricature their personal attributes as an index of their "lower‐caste" identity without addressing it directly. Given the conditions of social change in the practice of caste across India, calling such names provides the "upper‐caste" drivers grounds for the disavowability of addressing caste. Calling Dalit drivers funny first names at the taxi stand eschews addressing directly the collective lower‐caste identity indexed in their last names even as the humor so enacted becomes the premise for identifying their caste identity. It exceeds and bypasses legalized notions of caste atrocity by distorting personal attributes into humorous name‐calling that is indexically removed from the denigration of collective caste identity that can be disavowed. This article offers an ethnography of humor to understand how humorous sociability becomes the means for addressing lower‐caste identity while simultaneously providing the grounds for its obfuscation and disavowal. Originally, the fundamental right to one's own image was really restricted to the protection of those images of individuals that allowed their identification. However, the later evolution of this right's scope continually integrated additional features pushing for a renewed constitutional definition of 'image own' in accordance with the environment in which it operates today. In particular, its core object, i.e. the somatic image, is shared today by the right to data protection, posing a difficult delimitation of both rights. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

CARDINAL virtues , *POETS , *NARRATORS , *AUTHORS , *SEEDS - Abstract
This article aims to criticize the traditional historical-biographical approach in the exegesis of the work of Francesco Petrarca, to propose, instead, the application of some properly poetic analysis tools, thus emphasizing the need for a reading that pays more attention to this type of function, rather than to the referential one, cause of many misunderstandings and an important loss of meaning that affects the entire Petrarchan message. To do this, the article will focus on proper names, a very common constituent element in the works of the poet of Arezzo, and knots of a semantic structure that is connotative, rather than denotative. An approach, that is, that disagrees with most interpretations, always oriented towards the consideration of them as mere referents of historical identities. Among these names, the poet's own name takes a special value, as it should, which far from being the simple referential identification between writer, author, narrator, and protagonist, turns out to be rather the seed of a vast and articulated mythopoetic construction, precise vehicle of an important part of the poetic message that the author bequeaths to posterity and that holds to virtue and ethical and moral improvement. This paper explores the experiences of the main character in Michalis Malandrakis' short novel, Patriot (2018). The protagonist, an Albanian migrant in Greece, is compelled to change his name and (re) invent his identity to achieve his goals in the new country. Agim becomes Yiannis (John) and ultimately dies as Yiannis. The novel engages in an open dialogue with theoretical questions about the self and the Other, subjectivity and objectivity, as well as the feeling of "belongingness." This paper addresses several questions: What role does the self-narrator play in constructing an identity? To what extent is the protagonist welcomed into this new world after his name change? What must he sacrifice to become accepted? And to what extent can a person (re)invent their identity? [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Set within the biblical narrative of Sarah and Abraham is the figure of Hagar – Sarah's slave. The significance of Hagar is often overlooked. This article re-examines her story and identifies her own matriarchal status as an intelligent and resourceful woman of faith. Noting that God and Hagar knew each other by name, the author (an experienced hospital chaplain) demonstrates how Hagar's experience can help both clinicians and patients in a mental health environment. Hagar is a model of transcendence – living above the circumstances that hinder our abilities to flourish. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The sciences of hadith are diverse, and each science has its importance. Some of them are specific to the chains of transmission, some are related to the text in particular, some include the chain of transmission and the text, some include both, and a large portion of them relates to the narrator. Among the sciences related to narrators are the sciences that reveal the person of the narrator, such as his name, surname, nickname, and whether he is accepted or not, etc. Although the hadith scholars paid attention to these sciences, this does not mean that they are neglected by the jurists, as they are the basic building block upon which the science of analysis and modification is based, which is the building block for judging the authenticity and weakness of a hadith. Through this research, we will clarify the work of one of the imams in these sciences through his books that have reached us, and he is Imam Muhammad bin Al-Hasan Al-Shaybani, the imam, the jurist, the diligent scholar, the companion of the greatest Imam Abu Hanifa. The research relied on the inductive and analytical approach. Although this imam is famous for his jurisprudence, we will find that his hadith skill is no less than his jurisprudential skill. Here we will search for some of the sciences related to the person of the narrator and the situation that appeared to us in the presence of this passionate Imam, and this is represented by an introduction and two sections, the first of which: his craftsmanship in the sciences that know the person of the narrator, and the second: his craftsmanship in the sciences that know the situation of the narrator, and then the conclusion. MONGOLS ,TRIBES - Abstract
Mongolian tribes, following their cultural traditions, have a diverse array of names for people. This was particularly evident during and after the Mongol rule in Iran, where Persian texts from that era often reflect these Mongolian names. Iranian writers and historians sometimes provided insights into the meanings and reasons behind these names, along with related stories and narratives. Despite the significance of Mongol nomenclature in literary and historical texts, comprehensive research on this topic remains scarce, underscoring the need for this study. In these texts, naming patterns varied according to nature, physical conditions, events, and manners. Sometimes, names were altered for various reasons. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This contribution aims to show, in the option of a linguistics of the production of meaning, the relationships that are forged in Algeria between denomination, social praxis (history of peoples, cultural practices) and linguistic praxis (history and life of languages). It reflects views, thus it is the meeting point between sociolinguistics, history and onomastics and testifies to the different appellations, and therefore different languages. It therefore necessarily includes « points of view » on the Algerian patronymic system. This will lead us to examine the lexico-semantic forms of the surname of the city of Mazouna, then the sociolinguistic issues in the perspective that oscillates between an official denomination and a real use.

The main purpose of this work is to explore the experience of confronting guilt ‘after Auschwitz’ in the creative dialogue between two significant poets of the twentieth century — Paul Celan and Johannes Bobrowski. Despite their importance, their works remain inadequately studied, particularly in the context of the interaction between language and existence, or more precisely, poetic semiotics and the ontological foundation of existence. Sander Gilman, an American Germanist, in his work “Why and How I Study German” aimed at students of the German language in the United States, notes: “Learning German means understanding the path that leads from the text to the crematory”. Celan shared a similar sentiment. Bobrowski, while agreeing with Celan's belief that Auschwitz revealed the infernal nature of the German language, attempted to counter him by suggesting that even within the language of the underworld, a poet could serve as a synergistic participant in the manifestation of Truth from the Light of Truth in the performative "production of the presence" of God. One of those who supported him in this argument was perhaps the most complex author in German history, Hamann, whom Goethe considered to be “the brightest mind of his time” and the future “forefather and teacher” of all Germans. In this context, the poetic dialogue between Celan and Bobrowski concerning the German ‘language after Auschwitz’ could be seen as an effort to prevent its complete deontologization, due to what the philosopher Heidegger referred to as “the lack of holy names," stemming from “the defining characteristic of the present era of the world being the closed dimension of the Sacred”.

Research Framework: Chile and Argentina are among the South American countries where the number of adoptees who are either searching for their origins or questioning them, and the various aspects of their personal identity has increased exponentially over the past decade. Objectives: In order to deepen academic knowledge of (re)naming processes, the specific aim of this study is to explore the history that each participant has constructed around their first and last name (birth and adopted), as well as the meanings they give to naming processes and the operations they actively perform in this regard.Methodology: The data presented in this article come from a subset of 13 participants in a multi-site qualitative study in Chile and Argentina of 75 national adoptees (legal and illegal). Their experiences were collected through qualitative interviews and analyzed along thematic analysis. Results: The narratives show the unique perspectives that adoptees have on maintaining, changing or combining their names, decisions that can be seen as an exercise in affirmation and ongoing transformation of their sense of self and the relationships they establish with their past, present and future. Conclusion: The question of name is at the heart of the identity-building process. It is essential to understand the identity-related operations that people actively, reflectively and creatively perform on their names.Contribution: By analyzing the identity operations carried out by adoptees, our article contributes to the understanding of the identity work they carry out throughout their lives as a result of their dual filiation.

Antígona González (2012) by Sara Uribe (Querétaro, 1978) is a play that cannot be reduced to the legal and political language of denunciation and human rights but can be read as a poetics of the sacred. From its link with Sophocles' Antigone and the discussion with Agamben's homo sacer, this article contemplates Antígona González as a play that criticizes the principle of sovereignty and underlines the importance of the name and the body, in a sacred poetics of dispossession. This study focuses on the role of visual resources in constructing the brand identity of Chinese universities. By drawing on the theoretical concept of corporate visual identity (CVI), this study analyzed universities' logos and typography of names from the social semiotic approach. Nine elite Chinese universities were selected as the corpus to qualitatively investigate how the institutions' logos and typography of their names are designed and utilized for corporate branding. The analysis shows that both the logos and names are graphically and typographically designed as effective visual elements and semiotic resources with meaning potentials to signify the Chinese universities' brand identity. Dioscorea is an important group of species in the world cultivated as a food source with an eatable tuber rich in carbohydrates, minerals, saponins and pigments in some varieties, making them a functional food. Dioscorea genus is cultivated in Africa, Asia and parts of South America. Dioscoreaceae has six genus and close to 850 species, the most abundant genus is Dioscorea with 650 species. In Mexico 65 species have been reported to date, the most important one being D. sparsiflora as it is used as food. The common name given to Dioscorea sparsiflora collectively is camote de cerro and its nutritional value is similar to other tubers. Its natural habitat is the large gullies, generally living among tangled bushes and trees and on top of them. As a natural resource it is over exploited from September to May. It has been noticed that fruits and seeds can be damaged by beetles jeopardizing the recovery of native populations. Crop yield is the result of good management as this reduces physiological disorders and promotes optimal morphological development. Besides its nutritional value, increasing yield is important as several other aspects can be taken advantage of, like using the light energy reaching its leaves, due to plants' capacity to intercept and transform it into chemical energy. Photosynthetic capacity is related to tuber yield. Camote the cerro has a specific demand of light intensity at each stage of its development and this can impact yield, length and width. As it develops on
the ground it is important to find methodologies allowing for optimal growth. It has been reported that form and size of furrow or mound has an impact on yield. Specifically for D. sparsiflora, the form of the container where it is planted has an effect on tuber yield. To find out which factors improve D. sparsiflora yield, different light intensities (26000, 18000 and 14000 lx), three shade periods (60, 90 and 180 d), and five types of containers were evaluated in two accessions (751 and 112). Tuber weight was higher at 18000 lx (6.9 t ha-1) and a higher yield was obtained when cultivated for 60 d of shading (33 t ha-1). The container was rectangular (40 t ha-1). Accession 751 presented the highest averages of weight and diameter (43 t ha-1 and 73 mm, respectively). Breeding is one of the alternatives that has been considered in all crops as it can improve species characteristics, like yield, adaptability to environmental conditions, and increase in important chemical compounds. Among breeding alternatives, crossbreeding is considered a traditional alternative; another way of breeding is through mutagenesis induction with chemical and physical agents that can be a way to obtain variations not commonly found in the species. Before carrying out cross breeding some factors had to be considered, ploidy is one of them and could be a barrier limiting crossbreeding. All Dioscorea species have been reported polyploidies. Using cytogenetic characterization several levels of ploidies were observed in D. sparsiflora for native accessions from different areas of Jalisco: 2n, 3n, 4n and 6n. This was carried out placing the ends of roots in a 2mM 8-hidroxiquinoleine solution; a solution of acetic alcohol was used for fixing; chromosomes were tinted with acetoorcein. Findings showed that ploidy level is related to chloroplast number in stomata and stomata width. An alternative for producing hybrid plants in D. sparsiflora has been carrying pollen to feminine flowers. In these hybrids, tuber yield has been poor in the first life cycles, but it is possible to find variations among different hybrids. Hybrids were obtained using females and males from the 11 variations of the State of Jalisco. They were placed in two different environments (greenhouse and shade house). Greenhouse hybrids had a greater percentage of success (32%). Trying to get better genetic characteristics, D. sparsiflora and D. alata plants propagated in vitro were radiated with different dosages of Gamma rays and then acclimated to greenhouse conditions. To know if there were differences with treatments, mini tubers were weighed and measured. Results showed that D. sparsiflora resisted all dosages; those treated with 30 Gy and higher radiation treatments had the greatest size. For D. alata, seedlings radiated with 50 and 60 Gy did not survive. The highest number of mini tubers obtained were those radiated with 10 Gy, but the biggest ones were from mini tubers radiated with 20 Gy. These morphological changes in mini tubers could be considered variations due to a genetic change caused by Gamma radiation and the researched alternatives could be used for agricultural purposes in D. sparsiflora domestication process, obtaining the resource and not damaging wild populations. The autobiographical method is used in the pedagogical field to allow the person to access experiences, read the present and guide future choices. Among the languages that lend themselves to this, the autobiographical narration, in particular, is capable of making significant the selection that the narrated story makes of lived experiences. The name serves as a privileged filter of autobiographical access to the self, between mimesis and metamorphosis. The contribution will describe how this is possible. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Unique names have commonly been viewed as undesirable. However, our studies (total N = 6049) suggest the opposite: unique names are perceived as favourable to creativity in occupational contexts. Generally, people held a perception that unique‐named individuals are more creative (albeit less likable) and therefore more suitable for jobs requiring greater creativity (Studies 1–2). Accordingly, participants tended to select candidates with more unique names for creative positions (Study 3) and recommend more unique names to workers in creative jobs for a name change (Study 4). Furthermore, real‐world archival data revealed that artists (typical creative professions) tended to adopt more unique new names, which was replicated cross‐culturally in American, British, and Chinese samples (Study 5), and that Chinese movie directors with more unique names received higher evaluations for the movies they directed (Study 6). Our findings demonstrate a novel form of name stereotype and its behavioural manifestations and real‐world consequences. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper investigates the inclusion of "Coptic-only" letters in the spelling of Egyptian personal names and toponyms in otherwise Greek documents. A diachronic analysis of eighty documentary texts (4th–8th c. CE), primarily on papyrus, shows an increase of evidence in the sixth century, in line with recent literature on the evolution of documentary Coptic. As opposed to earlier papyri, which were mainly everyday texts with highly problematic Greek and interference from Egyptian, many later documents were of higher legal value, penned by bilingual scribes who were proficient in Greek, who could incorporate Coptic characters into their Greek writing, proving that script-mixing could be unrelated to poor linguistic competence. The phenomenon seems to have arisen from an unconscious cognitive process of ad hoc phoneme-to-grapheme conversion, which offered different spelling variants, and was triggered by the Egyptian origin of names, the special phonemes that certain Coptic graphemes represented, and the lack of inflection amidst the Greek text. The parallel reflection on the relationship between truth and writing in the fields of philosophy and literature has contributed to the development of discursive practices aimed at anchoring reconstructed events in reality. Through an example of testimonial writing and two examples of family memoirs, we show the importance of the name in reducing the degree of fiction and saving chapters of individual, family and collective history from oblivion.

Verse 6 of Surah Mubaraka Saf, on behalf of Jesus (pbuh), announces the appearance of the promised prophet. Most of the researchers have considered the phrase "Esmuho Ahmad" to mean the special naming of the Prophet (PBUH) as "Ahmed" and to prove his prophethood, they looked for this name or its semantic equivalent in the Bible and stated some cases. orientalists have tried to deny this issue. The current research with a descriptive-analytical approach and using verbal evidence such as the discovery of the meaning of words, the meaning of the name of science, the linguistic style of the Qur'an and the Testaments in introducing personalities and semantic development and non-verbal evidence such as historical, narrative and intellectual evidence in order to discover the meaning of this phrase It has been important and challenging. The result is that the meaning of the words "name" and "Ahmad" is not simply (his name is Ahmad); rather, the meaning (his attributes are more praised) can be determined from it, that these outstanding attributes have become one of the clear reasons for the distinction and recognition of the Prophet from others. On the other hand, verse 6 of Sura Saf does not necessarily indicate the existence of this name in the Bible, but it is possible that the good news with this name is in the oral tradition of Jesus (pbuh). By examining the above-mentioned evidence, it is appropriate to interpret the meaning of this phrase into higher concepts than simply referring to the name of knowledge of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). And by considering the semantic development, both the meaning of the name and the moral and behavioral attributes of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) can be determined from the phrase will, which made him the leader of other divine messengers.

Based on previous research on names and naming practices, I propose three suggestions to Bao et al. (2021), which investigated historical changes in given names of Han Chinese in China between 1920 and 2005. Their study analyzed a one-shot cross-sectional survey conducted in 2005 and reported that unique names increased from 1920 to 2005. The authors concluded that China became more individualistic over time for the period. However, three questions have remained unanswered in Bao et al. (2021). First, were the samples of older birth cohorts truly representative? Second, did unique names increase only after the 1970s? Third, how are the historical changes in average name length interpreted? Answering these three questions would contribute to a further understanding of the historical changes in given names and their underlying psychological/cultural shifts in China.

Air pollution is a major problem across the world with more than 90% of the world's population living in places exceeding the air quality guidelines specified by the World Health Organisation. Transport of air pollution plays a key role in determining the relative influence of local emissions and regional contributions to observed air pollution. This thesis has investigated the effects of air pollution in Beijing and two islands in South Korea from regional and local sources to understand the impacts of regional meteorology on the transport of pollution in East Asia, through a series of novel and upgraded approaches. Furthermore, a set of policy suggestions were derived to help improve the air quality in the region. The dispersion model Numerical Atmospheric-dispersion Environment (NAME), was used to evaluate the history of the air mass pathways arriving at the receptor sites. The distribution of air masses over specific regions before arriving at the sites was calculated through an upgraded technique that can be adapted anywhere in the world. By combining the NAME backward footprints with emission inventories it was possible to calculate the CO concentrations at the sites. In Beijing, it was determined that the contributions from sources located outside of Beijing have a major impact on the CO levels in the city accounting for approximately 46% of the CO in Beijing over five years. Additionally, it was revealed that the CO emitted in China contributed 50 - 59% of the CO air pollution at two South Korean islands. A novel analysis and maping technique was developed in QGIS, to calculate the air pollution contributions at a site on a grid cell by grid cell basis. Last but not least, the effects of chemistry on the VOC concentrations in Beijing were investigated by combining the NAME footprints, emission inventories and a chemical box model (AtChem2), to reveal the changes in the VOCs during different air pollution scenarios.

- Abstract
Social networks—such as alumni networks—affect the productivity of highly educated immigrants through collaboration, knowledge spillover, job referrals, etc. Using online social networking data, we study how international graduate students choose an online identity associated with the "main alumni network" when there are multiple schools attended, but only one alumni network can be selected. We focus on students who receive undergraduate education in China and graduate education in the USA using data from Renren.com, a China-based Facebook-type networking website, on which users can only identify one network among multiple options. We find that pre-migration preferences for Western culture—measured by English-name usage—increase the likelihood of choosing the US school network. Causal inference is based on the design of linguistic instrumental variables for English-name usage. While school prestige should also affect the choice of alumni network, our results highlight the importance of cultural preferences in network choices: The effect of English-name usage is significant regardless of school rankings.
