BACKGROUND: Although uncertainties exist regarding implementation, artificial intelligence-driven generative language models (GLMs) have enormous potential in medicine. Deployment of GLMs could improve patient comprehension of clinical texts and improve low health literacy. OBJECTIVE: The goal of this study is to evaluate the potential of ChatGPT-3.5 and GPT-4 to tailor the complexity of medical information to patient-specific input education level, which is crucial if it is to serve as a tool in addressing low health literacy. METHODS: Input templates related to 2 prevalent chronic diseases-type II diabetes and hypertension-were designed. Each clinical vignette was adjusted for hypothetical patient education levels to evaluate output personalization. To assess the success of a GLM (GPT-3.5 and GPT-4) in tailoring output writing, the readability of pre- and posttransformation outputs were quantified using the Flesch reading ease score (FKRE) and the Flesch-Kincaid grade level (FKGL). RESULTS: Responses (n=80) were generated using GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 across 2 clinical vignettes. For GPT-3.5, FKRE means were 57.75 (SD 4.75), 51.28 (SD 5.14), 32.28 (SD 4.52), and 28.31 (SD 5.22) for 6th grade, 8th grade, high school, and bachelors, respectively; FKGL mean scores were 9.08 (SD 0.90), 10.27 (SD 1.06), 13.4 (SD 0.80), and 13.74 (SD 1.18). GPT-3.5 only aligned with the prespecified education levels at the bachelors degree. Conversely, GPT-4s FKRE mean scores were 74.54 (SD 2.6), 71.25 (SD 4.96), 47.61 (SD 6.13), and 13.71 (SD 5.77), with FKGL mean scores of 6.3 (SD 0.73), 6.7 (SD 1.11), 11.09 (SD 1.26), and 17.03 (SD 1.11) for the same respective education levels. The article reveals the legal positions of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine regarding everyone’s right to information. Attention is focused on information that is collected by state authorities, local self-government bodies, institutions and organizations, and which is not a state or other secret protected by the Law of Ukraine «On Information» and which every person has the right to familiarize himself with. Separate attention is focused on confidential information (information with limited access). One of the types of confidential information is medical information, which, on the one hand, in special cases provided for by the Fundamentals of the Health Care Legislation of Ukraine, can be disclosed to family members or a legal representative of the patient, and on the other hand, in accordance with the decision of the European Court of Human Rights person in the case of «M.K. against Ukraine» confirmation by a doctor of a patient’s illness to a member of his family, even if he learned about it from the patient himself, is an interference by the state in a person’s right to private life, and in the case of infectious diseases, it is qualified as not carried out «in accordance with the law». Attention is focused on the fact that such situations arise more and more when military personnel undergo medical examinations and that there are prohibitive norms of a special law that forbid the disclosure of medical information regarding a certain list of diseases of a military personnel to his employer (military unit), commander, family members of the military personnel. Regarding the confidentiality of information and about a person who holds a position related to the performance of the functions of the state, local self-government bodies, and about members of his family, the legal positions of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine are established: absolutely in each specific case it is determined whether information about a person belongs to confidential; there are guarantees of protection of the rights of the above-mentioned persons, and additional legal burdens, and therefore the state is called upon to ensure a balance of public and private interest. The article also draws attention to the fact that even under martial law conditions, control (direct; indirect) by institutions of public power is prohibited both in terms of content and dissemination of information, even if the state pursues such a goal as protecting the information space from what is considered harmful by the state information that is not necessary for society. The practice of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on this issue is established. Attention is focused on the fact that censorship cannot be used in Ukraine to protect the information field of the state even in war conditions - it is prohibited in part 3 of Art. 15 of the Constitution of Ukraine. The Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China (referred to as the Ministry of Education) has issued a series of training plans for outstanding engineers in new engineering disciplines, emphasizing accelerating the digital transformation of education and promoting the cultivation of interdisciplinary talents. The teaching purpose of medical–engineering integration professional courses is to cultivate new engineering talents with interdisciplinary backgrounds in medicine and engineering technology. This article aims to cultivate the comprehensive engineering practical ability of new medical information engineering talents to explore a new model based on the deep integration of Massive, Open, Online, and Course, and Conceive, Design, Implement, and Operate engineering talent training. This model integrates a variety of teaching methods, such as flipped classroom and project teaching, which is more conducive to achieving the talent training goals of cultivating innovative thinking, interdisciplinary thinking, analysis and problem‐solving abilities, and teamwork skills. This study uses the "Introduction to Digital Healthcare" course as an example to carry out the teaching practice of the new model, showing the practicability and effectiveness of this teaching model in cultivating the comprehensive practical literacy of new engineering talents. In summary, the new model proposed in this article can provide a reference for the teaching of medical information engineering professional courses and also provide a new model of thinking for the teaching of medical–engineering integration professional courses. Background: The diversities of medical information resources and health information needs in recent years have caused another form of summarization and abstract writing to appear in the information capsule (IC) versus various types of abstracts. The present study was conducted with the aim to analyze the current IC, giving a unique definition and a standard structure for the development of an IC, and how it can be represented and implemented. Methods: This study was conducted in three phases in the form of a qualitative study. In the first phase, a library review study was done on the relevant websites and international databases, such as PubMed, Science Direct, Web of Sciences, Google Scholar, ProQuest, and Embase. In the second phase, the results of the previous stage were discussed with a panel of experts. In the third phase, a suggested frame for an IC was stated. Results: A specific structure was suggested for IC so that, in addition to having parts of similar cases, they had extra parts. The suggested frame includes title, name of the IC writers and reviewers, question or goals, design or methods, setting, patient or community of the study, result, commentary, citation, topic, picture, and tag and can be used in different fields. Conclusions: Due to the importance of IC in summarizing information, our suggested structure should be used in other fields and be subject to trial and error. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR) classification is useful in modern medical diagnostics and related applications. ADR is an example of how medical information is frequently accessible on social media platforms for healthcare, where people can share their experiences with treatments on desktop computers and mobile devices. Many researchers are interested in gathering valuable medical data from social media for the ADR system training and classification process. Materials and Methods: This research explores the effects of three aspects on recognizing ADR mentions in social media for the medical field and proposes a deep neural network of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) neural networks to do so. The comments are collected from various social media platforms to implement the ADR system with proper training and testing processes. The texts from the dataset are initially preprocessed by using a data filtering and clustering process to remove the input data's redundant information to increase the training process's quality. Characteristic features, such as semantic features and text statistics, are extracted from the input text using the American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) array. Further, the features are converted and fed to LSTM networks for training and validation. Results and Conclusion: This work is evaluated using two datasets, CODEC, and ADR Corpus datasets are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed ADR technique via multiple angles. Via extensive experiments, this work achieved 99.79 accuracy, 98.37 sensitivity, 97.63 specificity, 99.72 precision, 98.39 recall, 97.62 F1-score for the CODEC dataset, 98.16 for accuracy, 99.19 for sensitivity, 98.49 for specificity, 99.49 for precision, 96.72 for recall, and 93.16 for F1-score for ADR corpus, respectively. Theoretical aspects concerning the safeguarding of medical information pertaining to individuals with mental disorders, minors and prisoners are expored in this article. The heightened risks of unauthorized access to such information by external parties have been identified, promoting a doctrinal reevaluation of the protective measures. Through the analysis of prevailing approaches to constitutional and legal guarantees, the article proposes a phramework for delineating primary, specific, and auxiliary measures for ensuring the protection of medical information. Employing the scientific methods of analysis, synthesis, systematization and classification, the article discerns the particular attributes of each category of guarantees, aiming to enhance their effecacy. Notably, emphasis is placed on constitutional and legal provisions aimed at preventing unlawful access to medical information by external entities.

TikTok has more than 1.5 billion users globally. Health and wellness content on the application increased by more than 600% in 2021. This systematic review seeks to summarize which fields within medicine have embraced researching health communication on the TikTok platform and the most common measures reported within this literature. Research questions include what categories of health topics on TikTok are investigated in the literature, trends in topics by year, and types of outcomes reported. Embase, CINAHL, Scopus, and Ovid MEDLINE databases were searched in March 2024. Eligible studies met four criteria: (1) investigated human health topics on TikTok; (2) conducted in the United States; (3) published in English; and (4) published in a peer-reviewed journal. Of the 101 included studies, 50.5% (N = 51) discussed non-surgical specialties, 9.9% (N = 10) discussed topics within surgery, and 11.9% (N = 12) discussed COVID-19. The number of papers referencing non-surgical topics spiked in 2023, and no increase was seen in the number of COVID-19 papers over time. Most papers reported a number of interactions, and papers about mental health were least likely to report accuracy. Our findings highlight several health topics with a wide breadth of research dedicated to them, such as dermatology and COVID-19, and highlight areas for future research, such as the intersection of cancer and TikTok. Findings may be influential in the fields of medicine and healthcare research by informing health policy and targeted prevention efforts. This review reveals the need for future policies that focus on the role and expectations of the healthcare worker in health communication on social media. Implications for clinical practice include the need for providers to consider an individual’s perception of health and illness, given the wide variety of information available on social media applications such as TikTok. Purpose: Smoking is not only one of the main risk factors for the development of most malignant and numerous benign ENT tumours but also has an important influence on therapy and prognosis. Even quitting smoking at the time of diagnosis significantly reduces mortality. Patients have a particularly strong desire to stop smoking when they are diagnosed. The present study investigated to what extent patients were aware of the relationships between smoking and the development and prognosis of tumours and how much information and smoking cessation support they were offered by physicians. Methods: A total of 194 patients (74.7% male, 62.0 ±10.6 a) with malignant primary ENT tumours, pre-cancerous tumours, Reinke's oedema and salivary gland tumours were interviewed. Results: 22.7% were nonsmokers, 49.5% were cigarette smokers and 27.8% were ex-smokers. A total of 57.0% of the smokers said they would have quit before the onset of the disease if they had known about the association. Forty-one percent did not receive information about the association between smoking and the development of their disease, while 45.5% did not receive information about the relationship with their prognosis. The provision of information lasted less than 5 min for 40.4% of the patients and more than 10 min for only 13.5%. In total, 50.7% of the patients were directly requested not to smoke. A total of 7.7% received offers of smoking cessation support from otolaryngologists and 18.2% received such offers from family physicians. Conclusions: There is a pronounced need for improvements in the provision of medical information about the health risks associated with smoking and offers to support patient efforts to stop smoking. In particular, the appointment during which the diagnosis is communicated to the patient should be considered a 'teachable moment' that can lead to smoking cessation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

With the continuous development of medical information sharing, attention is gradually being paid to data security, data consistency, data controllability, and data accuracy. Blockchain technology is considered an effective means to solve the problem of medical information sharing due to its characteristics of decentralization, immutability, and traceability. Many blockchain-based medical information sharing solutions have emerged. This study aimed to comprehensively analyze blockchain-based medical information sharing solutions, explore their advantages, shortcomings, and challenges, provide references for future research, and promote further development and improvement of solutions in this field. The study summarized blockchain-based medical information sharing solutions with a focus on blockchain patterns, data security storage, access control strategies, and integrity verification. It analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of different solutions, compared their characteristics, and explored their effectiveness in solving the problem of medical information sharing. It proposed future research directions and development suggestions to enhance the further improvement and innovation of blockchain-based medical information sharing solutions. This research focused on blockchain-based medical information sharing solutions, covering the application of blockchain technology in medical information sharing, data security, access control, integrity verification, and other related topics. Through systematic comparison and analysis, the study discussed the strengths and challenges of current solutions, providing guidance and references for future research and practice. The present study aims to address the subject of medical information and its legal relevance. These aspects were neglected in the specialized literature from domestic law, which was concerned with the processing of special personal data from electronic health record. The last one remained unimplemented at the national level. Throughout this study, it is analyzed not only the notion of medical information -- in the narrow, but also the notion of medical information -- in an extended sense, with the emphasis on the domestic legislative advantages regarding the settlement of extended medical information. The informative elements that are subsumed under the diagnosis or included in the category of treatment are being approached in this study, as the situation of the treating doctor or the on-call doctor is addressed, likely to influence the procedural framework in medical civil liability disputes. The object of medical information, which includes these types of data (diagnosis, treatment, extended medical information) is not confused with the rights that bear on them, as we have emphasized in this scientific endeavour. Finally, the right of access to special personal data and the right of the patient to benefit from a copy of the medical file or medical records are being approached, as the patient is entitled to know the changes that could be made on this type of data, indicating the need to implement the electronic health file. ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot application. In this study, we explore the creation and use of a customized version of ChatGPT designed specifically for patient education, called "Lab Explainer." Lab Explainer aims to simplify and clarify the results of complex laboratory tests for patients, using the sophisticated capabilities of AI in natural language processing; it analyses various laboratory test data and provides clear explanations and contextual information. The approach involved adapting OpenAI's ChatGPT model specifically to analyze laboratory test data. The results suggest that Lab Explainer has the potential to improve understanding by providing an interpretation of laboratory tests to the patient. The large language model (LLM) ChatGPT can answer open-ended and complex questions, but its accuracy in providing reliable medical information requires a careful assessment. As part of the AICHECK (Artificial Intelligence for CME Health E-learning Contents and Knowledge) Study, aimed at evaluating the potential of ChatGPT in continuous medical education (CME), we compared ChatGPT-generated educational contents to the recommendations of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines on acne vulgaris. ChatGPT version 4 was exposed to a 23-item questionnaire developed by an experienced dermatologist. A panel of five dermatologists rated the answers positively in terms of “quality” (87.8%), “readability” (94.8%), “accuracy” (75.7%), “thoroughness” (85.2%), and “consistency” with guidelines (76.8%). The references provided by ChatGPT obtained positive ratings for “pertinence” (94.6%), “relevance” (91.2%), and “update” (62.3%). The internal reproducibility was adequate both for answers (93.5%) and references (67.4%). Answers related to issues of uncertainty and/or controversy in the scientific community scored the lowest. This study underscores the need to develop rigorous evaluation criteria for AI-generated medical content and for expert oversight to ensure accuracy and guideline adherence.

This article describes a system for servicing and enhancing the efficiency of medical clinic operations. The developed system facilitates the patients of the medical clinic by providing rapid and convenient access to their comprehensive medical records. Leveraging advanced technology, this system is poised to significantly improve patient health outcomes. The experiments are made as average time for response from web service and application testing with patient feedback. With recent advances in technology protecting sensitive healthcare data is challenging. Particularly, one of the most serious issues with medical information security is protecting of medical content, such as the privacy of patients. As medical information becomes more widely available, security measures must be established to protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Image steganography was recently proposed as an extra data protection mechanism for medical records. This paper describes a data-hiding approach for DICOM medical pictures. To ensure secrecy, we use Adversarial Neural Cryptography with SHA-256 (ANC-SHA-256) to encrypt and conceal the RGB patient picture within the medical image’s Region of Non-Interest (RONI). To ensure anonymity, we use ANC-SHA-256 to encrypt the RGB patient image before embedding. We employ a secure hash method with 256bit (SHA-256) to produce a digital signature from the information linked to the DICOM file to validate the authenticity and integrity of medical pictures. Many tests were conducted to assess visual quality using diverse medical datasets, including MRI, CT, X-ray, and ultrasound cover pictures. The LFW dataset was chosen as a patient hidden picture. The proposed method performs well in visual quality measures including the PSNR average of 67.55, the NCC average of 0.9959, the SSIM average of 0.9887, the UQI average of 0.9859, and the APE average of 3.83. It outperforms the most current techniques in these visual quality measures (PSNR, MSE, and SSIM) across six medical assessment categories. Furthermore, the proposed method offers great visual quality while being resilient to physical adjustments, histogram analysis, and other geometrical threats such as cropping, rotation, and scaling. Finally, it is particularly efficient in telemedicine applications with high achieving security with a ratio of 99% during remote transmission of Electronic Patient Records (EPR) over the Internet, which safeguards the patient’s privacy and data integrity.

Fluoridation (Fl) is effective in preventing caries; however, it is unclear to what extent its use is counteracted by misinformation on the internet. This study aimed to evaluate the information provided on professional websites of German dental practices regarding fluoridation. A systematic search was performed by two independent examiners, utilizing three search engines, from 10 September 2021 to 11 December 2021. Modified, validated questionnaires (LIDA, DISCERN) were used to evaluate technical and functional aspects, generic quality, and risk of bias. Demographic information and statements about Fl were also collected. The intra- and inter-rater reliability assessments were excellent. Of the 81 websites analyzed, 64 (79%) mentioned Fl, and 31 (38%) indicated it as a primary focus. Most websites met at least 50% of the LIDA (90%) and DISCERN criteria (99%), indicating that the general quality was good. Thirty (37%) of the websites explained the impact of Fl, and forty-five (56%) indicated an opinion (for/against) on Fl. The practice location and the clinical focus were not associated with the overall quality of websites. Only a minority of websites explained the effects of Fl. What motivates state-sponsored vaccine misinformation campaigns, given clear scientific evidence of vaccines' efficacy? The authors explored this issue through the lens of state-owned presses in mainland China and in Hong Kong. They first collected an original database of media reports on both Western and Chinese vaccines from 16 Chinese-language media publications based in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. They found the quantity of coverage of Western vaccines by mainland state-owned media outlets to be much less than their coverage of Chinese vaccines, reflecting the unavailability of Western vaccines in mainland China. However, applying a dictionary-based sentiment analysis, the authors found that state-owned presses in mainland China still portrayed Western vaccines negatively. In Hong Kong, where there is direct competition between Chinese and Western vaccines, they found that state-owned presses gave high coverage of both Western and Chinese vaccines but greater negative coverage of Western vaccines. These findings are consistent with a Chinese producer–oriented "vaccine nationalism" policy designed to nurture the domestic biotechnology sector. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: The Pharma Collaboration for Transparent Medical Information (phactMI™) benchmarking survey of 32 pharmaceutical companies describes the use of technology by Medical Information Departments. Methods: A survey was distributed to phactMI™ member companies in June 2022 and included 79 closed and open-ended questions. The survey's six sections included demographics, chatbot, social media, instant messaging applications, websites, and technology. Results: Most Medical Information Departments have implemented innovative technology since 2019 with the main driver of remaining up-to-date. A total of 94% have a Medical Information website. Of those with a Medical Information website for healthcare professionals (HCPs), 97% allow for self-authentication. Most HCP-based websites have webforms for inquiries and 1–800 numbers, while only few offer video chat, chatbot, and the ability to identify local representatives. These websites also link to clinicaltrials.gov, publications, posters, and congress materials. Only 30% have a website for patients/caregivers. Most websites are discoverable by Google™. Awareness of Medical Information Websites occurs in a variety of ways, with most using multiple strategies to reach HCPs. There is wide variation in the technology platform used for the core functions of Medical Information. Conclusion: As technology continues to advance and omnichannel content remains a key objective, Medical Information needs to remain agile and transformative in their strategic and tactical planning and execution. Based on this benchmarking survey, the authors recommend that Medical Information Departments focus on expanding services for patients/caregivers, leverage digital innovations, expanding awareness, building efficiencies in workflow through technology, and continually improving website functionalities with innovative technologies. It outperforms the most current techniques in these visual quality measures (PSNR, MSE, and SSIM) across six medical assessment categories. Furthermore, the proposed method offers great visual quality while being resilient to physical adjustments, histogram analysis, and other geometrical threats such as cropping, rotation, and scaling. Finally, it is particularly efficient in telemedicine applications with high achieving security with a ratio of 99% during remote transmission of Electronic Patient Records (EPR) over the Internet, which safeguards the patient's privacy and data integrity. BackgroundSocial media sites, dating apps, and information search sites have been used to reach individuals at high risk for HIV infection. However, it is not clear which platform is the most efficient in promoting home HIV self-testing, given that the users of various platforms may have different characteristics that impact their readiness for HIV testing.ObjectiveThis study aimed to compare the relative effectiveness of social media sites, dating apps, and information search sites in promoting HIV self-testing among minority men who have sex with men (MSM) at an increased risk of HIV infection. Test kit order rates were used as a proxy to evaluate promotion effectiveness. In addition, we assessed differences in characteristics between participants who ordered and did not order an HIV test kit.MethodsCulturally appropriate advertisements were placed on popular sites of three different platforms: social media sites (Facebook, Instagram), dating apps (Grindr, Jack'D), and information search sites (Google, Bing). Advertisements targeted young (18-30 years old) and minority (Black or Latinx) MSM at risk of HIV exposure. Recruitment occurred in 2 waves, with each wave running advertisements on 1 platform of each type over the same period. Participants completed a baseline survey assessing sexual or injection use behavior, substance use including alcohol, psychological readiness to test, attitudes toward HIV testing and treatment, and HIV-related stigma. Participants received an electronic code to order a free home-based HIV self-test kit. Follow-up assessments were conducted to assess HIV self-test kit use and uptake of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) at 14 and 60 days post enrollment.ResultsIn total, 271 participants were enrolled, and 254 were included in the final analysis. Among these 254 participants, 177 (69.7%) ordered a home HIV self-test kit. Most of the self-test kits were ordered by participants enrolled from dating apps. Due to waves with low enrollment, between wave statistical comparisons were not feasible. Within wave comparison revealed that Jack'D showed higher order rates (3.29 kits/day) compared to Instagram (0.34 kits/day) and Bing (0 kits/day). There were no associations among self-test kit ordering and HIV-related stigma, perceptions about HIV testing and treatment, and mistrust of medical organizations.ConclusionsOur findings show that using popular dating apps might be an efficient way to promote HIV self-testing. This article describes a system for servicing and enhancing the efficiency of medical clinic operations. The developed system facilitates the patients of the medical clinic by providing rapid and convenient access to their comprehensive medical records. Leveraging advanced technology, this system is poised to significantly improve patient health outcomes. The experiments are made as average time for response from web service and application testing with patient feedback. The quality of patients’ health is expected to improve significantly with the smart system using advanced technology.

Objective Parents are increasingly turning to social media for medical recommendations. Our objective was to systematically examine posts on Facebook for parents of infants hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) to analyze how advice on medical topics was requested and given, and whether this advice was potentially medically inappropriate. Study Design One hundred Facebook groups were screened for study eligibility. In each group, up to 400 posts on medical topics were evaluated. The first 10 comments of each post were classified based on content and presence of medical advice. Appropriateness of advice was evaluated by a neonatologist. Results Of 28 groups meeting study criteria, 10 permitted access for data collection. We identified 729 posts requesting medical advice of which 29% referenced the NICU period. Posts on diagnosis and development (30 and 32% of posts, respectively) were the most common topics, and most likely to receive advice (78 and 76% of posts on these topics, respectively). We identified 238 comments containing potentially inappropriate medical advice and 30 comments recommending going against medical advice. Conclusion Parents are utilizing Facebook as a source of support and medical information. Parents are most likely to give development-related advice from their own parenting experiences. The high percentage of posts requesting advice about diagnosis and development in the post-NICU stage suggests parents seek increased anticipatory guidance. Background: Insights, when acted upon, can result in positive changes to the business, for HCPs, and ultimately for patients. Medical Information, as a customer facing function, is one of the groups that generate insights. Data and insights across different functions of an organization need to be compiled to provide a comprehensive view. The purpose of this paper is to develop a shared definition of insights and to provide a working guidance for the insight process. Methods: Two surveys were conducted of the phactMI membership first to establish a shared definition of insights and then to benchmark current insight process. From this data and the shared experience of the working group a proposed guidance was developed. Results: The developed definition of an insight is "An insight is the deeper understanding of the why behind trends of information that lead us to determine if an action is warranted". For the most robust outcomes, insight identification needs to be a cross functional activity. The proposed structured approach can be leveraged and customized for any organization and include the following five steps: INvestigate, Scrutinize, Identify, Take Action, and Enlighten (INSITE). Conclusion: The INSITE process provides a simple framework that should become routine for all Medical Information colleagues who are leading the work around insights. The process should be shared across all functions that participate in the insight generation process. Medical Information in the pharmaceutical industry involves the creation and dissemination of evidence-based scientific medical content in response to questions about medicines and therapy areas for patients and healthcare professionals. Health information equity can be broadly defined as the distribution of health information in a way that is accessible and understandable to all users, allowing them to benefit and reach their full potential for health. Ideally, this information would be made available to all those in need across the globe. However, as demonstrated by the COVID-19 pandemic, widespread health discrepancies exist. The World Health Organization defines health inequity as differences in health status or in the distribution of health resources between different population groups. Health inequities are influenced by the social conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age. This article explains select key factors influencing health information inequity and addresses opportunities where Medical Information departments can make a difference to improve global public health. Background: Informed consent is an agreement between the doctor/the provider of medical services and the patient/the recipient of medical services. This relationship between these parties has changed from a paternalistic to a contractual relationship due to technological shifts. Doctors are obliged to notify the patient of all the risks and benefits of a procedure while respecting their autonomy by not intervening the decision-making process. This article will look at three government and academic hospitals in Surabaya, as informed consent has to be practiced in all medical settings. Purpose: This study aims to review the role of informed consent according to Law Number 29, 2004. Review: This study aims to discuss the characteristics of informed consent under Law Number 29, 2004, because there are too few articles addressing this issue. It also explains the roles of the patient and the doctor/dentist in informed consent according to this piece of legislation. Conclusion: According to Article 184, informed consent provides vital evidence that can be used to hold doctors and dentists legally accountable because it contains information about standard operating procedures (SOPs) that medical professionals are legally required to follow. Guidelines for informed consent are given in Law Number 29, 2004, Article 45, paragraph 2.

Abstract The medical-patient relationship is facing pollution of information all over the internet, for physician and patients is becoming tougher to keep updated with the highest quality of information. During the last 20 years multiple evaluation tools have been developed trying to find the best tool to assess high-quality information, to date DISCERN tool represents the most widely spread. Information can be found on the surface internet and in the deep web, constituting the biggest chunk of the internet, informing and controlling the quality of information is a formidable task. PubMed and Google Scholar are the most important tools for a physician to find information, although multiple others are available; awareness must be raised over improving current strategies for data mining high-quality information for the patients and the healthcare community.

Very little information is known about diabetic patient nondisclosure to their doctors. The present study evaluated the prevalence of nondisclosure of information by persons with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus to healthcare providers and its associated factors among the Saudi population, as well as the differences between persons with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods: A cross-sectional study targeting persons with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus was conducted at King Saud University Medical City, Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. An online self-administered questionnaire was used to collect data.Results: A total of 285 participants were included in the study (155 [54.4%] and 130 [45.6%] type 1 and 2 diabetic patients, respectively). Having an unhealthy diet (25.3%, n = 72), not regularly exercising (23.5%, n = 67), hiding some glucose readings (23.2%, n = 65), and not following instructions for weight loss (22.8%, n = 44) were the most common types of nondisclosed information among diabetic patients. The nondisclosure of information was significantly higher among type 2 patients (29.2%) than type 1 diabetic patients (18.7%) in terms of not participating in regular exercise (p = 0.018). Similarly, the nondisclosure of information was significantly higher among persons with type 1 diabetes compared to persons with type 2 diabetes in terms of hiding some glucose readings (p < 0.001) and not disclosing hyperglycemia (p = 0.011).Conclusion: Nondisclosure of important related medical information among diabetic patients to their healthcare providers is prevalent among the Saudi population. Background and aims: Patients frequently have concerns about their disease and find it challenging to obtain accurate Information. OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot (ChatGPT) is a new large language model developed to provide answers to a wide range of questions in various fields. Our aim is to evaluate the performance of ChatGPT in answering patients' questions regarding gastrointestinal health. Methods: To evaluate the performance of ChatGPT in answering patients' questions, we used a representative sample of 110 real-life questions. The answers provided by ChatGPT were rated in consensus by three experienced gastroenterologists. The accuracy, clarity, and efficacy of the answers provided by ChatGPT were assessed. Results: ChatGPT was able to provide accurate and clear answers to patients' questions in some cases, but not in others. For questions about treatments, the average accuracy, clarity, and efficacy scores (1 to 5) were 3.9 ± 0.8, 3.9 ± 0.9, and 3.3 ± 0.9, respectively. For symptoms questions, the average accuracy, clarity, and efficacy scores were 3.4 ± 0.8, 3.7 ± 0.7, and 3.2 ± 0.7, respectively. For diagnostic test questions, the average accuracy, clarity, and efficacy scores were 3.7 ± 1.7, 3.7 ± 1.8, and 3.5 ± 1.7, respectively. Conclusions: While ChatGPT has potential as a source of information, further development is needed. The quality of information is contingent upon the quality of the online information provided. The need of keeping medical information safe and secure stems from the fact that doctors rely on it to make accurate diagnoses. If this information is altered in any way, no matter how minor, there is a risk of an inaccurate diagnosis, which could result in severe medical issues and death. The transition from paper to electronic health records (EHRs) has considerably improved patient care quality and efficiency. However, for many healthcare service providers, it has extended the attack surface. Because of the value of a patient's medical information, this has posed a threat to both patients and healthcare providers. When security is not taken into account in healthcare systems, patients' privacy is jeopardized. The intended solution to this challenge is to create a modified AES algorithm to secure patient medical information. Although, the AES algorithm is secure, however, there is always a need for improvement on any cryptographic algorithms in terms of computational cost. This study implements AES and modified the last round of the AES and their performance has been measured by scrambling input datasets of various contents and volumes. The experimental results show that modified AES outperforms AES algorithms in terms of Encryption time while AES outperform modified AES in terms of decryption time. Also, the Avalanche effect results revealed that modified AES has a higher avalanche effect for small-size files while a smaller avalanche effect for larger file sizes. This signifies that modified AES security is stronger for a small size file while conventional AES has higher security for larger file sizes. The average encryption time of the AES algorithm for text files is 1513.3ms while the modified AES average encryption time gives 1293.837ms. The average decryption time for conventional AES is 1289.627ms while the average decryption time for modified AES give 1400.136ms. Modified AES uses lesser time complexity during the encryption of all categories of data files while conventional AES uses lesser time complexity during the decryption of all categories of data files. Introduction: People sometimes avoid searching for or using health information. This study aimed to determine the reasons and factors for avoiding health information in health service recipients and health service providers. Methods: In this scoping review, Cochrane, Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, EMbase and LISTA databases were searched. A total of 1901 studies were retrieved, and after removing duplicates and screening, finally 30 studies were entered into the review. The extracted data were categorized based on the objectives of the review and reported in a narrative form in tables. Results: The reasons for avoiding health information among health service recipients included reasons related to information, reasons related to the health system, and psychological reasons. The factors for avoiding health information among them were psychological factors, demographic factors, factors related to the health system, and factors related to information. Also, the reasons for avoiding health information among health service providers were information related reasons and health system-related reasons. The factors for avoiding health information in them also included factors related to information, factors related to the health system, and psychological factors. Conclusion: In this research, the reasons and factors for avoiding health information were categorized among the health services recipients and the providers of these services. Knowing these reasons and factors can provide a solution for health policymakers and medical librarians to design and plan health information services for health information avoiders suitably and improve the health information process. Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are only one example of the kind of helpful medical information that is frequently accessible on social media platforms for healthcare, where people can share their own experiences with treatments on desktop computers and mobile devices. A growing number of researchers are interested in gathering this valuable medical data from social media. This research explores the effects of three aspects on the recognition of ADR mentions in social media for the medical field and proposes a deep neural network of long short-term memory (LSTM) neural networks to do so. The texts from the dataset are pre-processed, and characteristics such as the semantic feature, text statics, and American Standard Code For Information Interchange (ASCII) array are extracted. Further, the features are converted into LSTM networks to perform the testing operation using the above features. This work was evaluated using two datasets, CODEC and ADR Corpus. Via extensive experiments, this work achieved 99.79 accuracies, 98.37 sensitivity, 97.63 specificities, 99.72 precision, and 98.39 recall 97.62 F1-score for the CODEC dataset. 98.16 for accuracy, 99.19 for sensitivity, 98.49 for specificity, 99.49 for precision, 96.72 for recall, and 93.16 for F1-score for ADE corpus, respectively.

Fluoridation (Fl) is effective in preventing caries; however, it is unclear to what extent its use is counteracted by misinformation on the internet. This study aimed to evaluate the information provided on professional websites of German dental practices regarding fluoridation. A systematic search was performed by two independent examiners, utilizing three search engines, from 10 September 2021 to 11 December 2021. Modified, validated questionnaires (LIDA, DISCERN) were used to evaluate technical and functional aspects, generic quality, and risk of bias. Demographic information and statements about Fl were also collected. The intra- and inter-rater reliability assessments were excellent. Of the 81 websites analyzed, 64 (79%) mentioned Fl, and 31 (38%) indicated it as a primary focus. Most websites met at least 50% of the LIDA (90%) and DISCERN criteria (99%), indicating that the general quality was good. Thirty (37%) of the websites explained the impact of Fl, and forty-five (56%) indicated an opinion (for/against) on Fl. The practice location and the clinical focus were not associated with the overall quality of websites. Only a minority of websites explained the effects of Fl. Taken together, this study highlights that there is a distinct lack of good-quality information on FL.

Abstract Medical data involves a large amount of personal information and is highly privacy sensitive. In the age of big data, the increasing informatization of healthcare makes it vital that medical information is stored securely and accurately. However, current medical information is subject to the risk of privacy leakage and difficult to share. To address these issues, this paper proposes a healthcare information security storage solution based on hyperledger fabric and the attribute-based access control framework. The scheme first utilizes attribute-based access control, which allows dynamic and fine-grained access to medical information, and then stores the medical information in the blockchain, which can be secured and tamper-proof by formulating corresponding smart contracts. In addition, this solution also incorporates IPFS technology to relieve the storage pressure of the blockchain. Experiments show that the proposed scheme combining access control of attributes and blockchain technology in this paper can not only ensure the secure storage and integrity of medical information but also has a high throughput when accessing medical information
