Objectives: This scoping review assessed systematic reviews on noninvasive temporomandibular disorder therapies to identify evidence gaps and formulate clinical recommendations. Method and materials: The scoping review was conducted according to the PRISMA scoping review guidelines and Joanna Briggs Institute updated scoping review methodology using a two-step process involving four reviewers. Four key databases (Embase, PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar) were thoroughly searched from January 2017 to December 2022. The selected systematic reviews were classified, charted, critically appraised, and synthesized. Results: Of the initial 522 listings, 61 systematic reviews were eligible for inclusion, with the majority bearing very low- to low-quality evidence, and metaanalysis not being conducted in about a third of them. Moderate- to high-quality evidence was available for patient selfmanagement, botulinum toxin, manual, laser, and splint therapy. Conclusions: Further high-quality investigations with consistent patient selection, diagnostic criteria, treatment/assessment protocols, and outcome measures are needed to confirm the effectiveness of the various interventions fortemporo-mandibular disorder pain/dysfunction. The purpose of this article is to map research literature on intergenerational contact in refugee and international migration contexts. Using database searches on Scopus, Medline, CINAHL, PsycInfo and Education Research Complete, we identified 649 potentially relevant studies, of which 134 met the inclusion criteria and are mapped in the article by themes, date of publication, geographical distribution, study design, and targeted population. The review has been developed with input from migrant and refugee charities, and it identifies research trends in the field as well as multiple gaps in the literature. The results highlight the complex ways in which intergenerational contact impacts psycho-social wellbeing and integration, health, and education outcomes for both refugees and other migrant groups. Much of the research to date has focused on relationships within families. Studies exploring the potential tensions and benefits of intergenerational contact between refugees/migrants and members of the broader community are lacking. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives Methods Results Conclusion Register‐based cohorts allow us to better understand bipolar disorder over a life course. They are inclusive and their long‐term data collection provides a longer scope than most clinical trials. This mapping review provides an overview of register‐based cohort studies of bipolar disorder to inform researchers of the strengths and limitations to this body of research and identify gaps for future research.A systematic search was performed of Medline, EMBASE, and PsycINFO databases. Cohort studies were included if they focused on bipolar disorder and had a minimum of 1 year of longitudinal data. Studies needed to be from databases that monitor the whole state or national population. A descriptive analysis of the studies' populations and methodology provides an overview of this field of study and identifies evidence gaps.A hundred and forty‐six studies were included. The majority were from databases in Taiwan (n = 63), Denmark (n = 38), Sweden (n = 23), and Finland (n = 11). Forty‐eight studies focused on aetiological questions. Sixty prognostic studies identified cohorts with bipolar disorder and described the impact of the illness by considering comorbidity, prescribing patterns, social functioning, and mortality. Thirty‐six treatment studies focused on the efficacy and adverse effects of pharmaceuticals and ECT. No studies focused on psychological treatments.Bipolar disorder research should include register‐based cohorts with greater geopolitical and cultural diversity. Custodians of health registers should consider how non‐pharmaceutical interventions such as psychotherapy are captured. Introduction: Aspiration pneumonia (AP) is an infection of the lungs caused by inhalation of material. The reported incidences vary across literature and clinical populations and is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Management of AP is best carried out by a multidisciplinary team. Methods: This aim of this review was to collate and describe the available evidence on AP to develop a greater understanding of the concept of AP as it is represented in the nursing literature. As a collaborative team, we undertook the six stages of a systematic mapping review. We searched for the term aspiration pneumonia in 200 peer reviewed nursing journals across 10 databases, over a ten-year period (2013-2023). Results: In this review, 293 papers were coded. Dysphagia, oral health and tube feeding emerged as the most frequent risk factors for AP, and the most reported factors for preventing this condition. Mortality was the most commonly described consequence of AP, followed by hospitalisations and morbidity. Multiple management approaches were reported including dysphagia assessment, risk evaluation, oral care and texture modification of food and fluids. The role of nurses and interprofessional collaborations were described. Discussion: Despite limited evidence related to the topic of AP in the nursing literature, the complexity of the causes, prevention, management and consequences of AP emerged. Certain factors, such as dysphagia, oral health, and tube feeding, were described under prevention, cause and management of AP. Aims Design Methods Results Conclusion Clinical Relevance To provide (1) an overview of core characteristics of scoping and mapping review methodologies and (2) to illustrate the differences and similarities of these methodologies using literature on nursing mobile workstations.Systematic review.Systematic searches were conducted to identify (1) scoping and mapping review methodologies used in the field of nursing and (2) literature on nursing mobile workstations. For each systematic search, two reviewers independently screened all titles, abstracts, and full texts. We conducted narrative syntheses for both review questions. Publications on scoping and mapping review methodologies in the field of nursing were searched in MEDLINE (PubMed), Web of Science, Scopus, and CINAHL (September 2022). Publications on nursing mobile workstations were searched in MEDLINE (PubMed), CINAHL, and Web of Science (April 2022).We identified six scoping and mapping review methodologies (aim 1): bibliometric analysis, evidence mapping, focused mapping review and synthesis, and scoping review. The methodologies aim to provide a graphical, tabular, or narrative overview without a formal critical assessment of the literature. We provide an overview of key variables that reflect the different focus of these methodologies. We also included 26 publications on nursing mobile workstations (aim 2). Nineteen different terms were used to describe the workstations. An overall definition of the nursing mobile workstation was not found.Scoping and mapping methodologies are regularly applied in nursing research. Although there is overlap between the different methodologies, we found some unique characteristics. Despite the regular use of nursing mobile workstations, little is known about their impact in care processes and important features. Future studies on nursing mobile workstations could explore the impact of the workstations in the care process and the current functions of the workstations. A universal definition of the workstations is warranted.Most publications address aspects of practicability of nursing mobile workstations, but we found no universal definition. Previous heterogeneity in exercise prescription and reporting in HIMT reduces the understanding of which factors should be considered when prescribing HIMT (e.g., exercise volume, intensity, duration). Previous studies have demonstrated positive effects of HIMT on health and performance outcomes. However, methodological disparities limit comparisons between findings. The objective of this systematic mapping review was to examine which prescriptive considerations and health and performance outcomes have been reported on in HIMT. This review also examined the quantity and trends of research conducted on HIMT. Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted using Ovid Medline, SPORTDiscus and Cochrane Library databases and additional sources to identify studies up until February 2023. A total of 37,090 records were retrieved, of which 220 were included for review. 246 individual HIMT protocols were included for categorical analysis against the Consensus on Exercise Reporting Template (CERT) and Applied Research Model for the Sport Sciences (ARMSS). Results: A total of 85 unique terms were used to describe HIMT. Included studies most commonly prescribed HIMT using a consistent exercise selection and circuit format. Exercise intensity was inconsistently reported on and a large proportion of studies prescribed 'high-intensity' exercise at a level lower than the American College of Sports Medicine criteria for high-intensity (i.e., < 77% heart rate maximum). Participation location, supervision and participation format were the most commonly reported non-training variables. The most frequently reported outcomes were cardiovascular health, perceptual outcomes, body composition and biochemical outcomes. A large proportion of previous HIMT research was experimental in design. Conclusions: Previous HIMT research demonstrates a lack of standardisation in reporting. Future studies should seek to follow guidelines (i.e., CERT) to improve reporting rigour. Additionally, forthcoming research should attempt to actively involve practitioners in implementation studies to improve ecological validity among interventions. Finally, future outcome measures should be accessible in practice and reflect common training goals of participants. Registration: This review adhered to PRISMA-ScR guidelines. To deal with the upcoming challenges and complexity of the nursing profession, it is deemed important to reflect on our current organization of care. However, before starting to rethink the organization of nursing care, an overview of important elements concerning nursing care organization, more specifically nursing models, is necessary. The aim of this study was to conduct a mapping review, accompanied by an evidence map to map the existing literature, to map the field of knowledge on a meta‐level and to identify current research gaps concerning nursing models in a hospital setting. Next to nursing models, two other organizational correlates seem to be of importance when looking at the organization of nursing care: nurse staffing and skill mix. Although it seems that in recent research, the theoretical focus on the organization of nursing care has been left behind, the increasingly complex healthcare environment might gain from the use of nursing theory, or in this case, care delivery models. As almost no fundamental studies have been done toward the combination of care delivery models, nurse staffing, and skill mix, those elements should be taken into account to fully capture the organization of nursing care in future research. This review is aimed to identify clinical guidance for the management of fatigue in long-term physical health conditions.A systematic mapping review was conducted in accordance with Social Care Institute for Excellence systematic review guidance. Bibliographic databases and guideline repositories were searched for clinical guidelines for long-term conditions, published between January 2008 and July 2018, with a search for updates conducted in May 2023. Data were extracted on the recommendations made for managing fatigue and, where cited, the underlying research evidence used to support these recommendations was also extracted.The review included 221 guidelines on 67 different long-term conditions. Only 30 (13.6%) of the guidelines contained recommendations for managing fatigue. These were categorised as clinical (e.g. conduct further investigations), pharmacological, behavioural (e.g. physical activity), psychological, nutritional, complementary, environmental, and multicomponent. Review studies are vital for advancing knowledge in many scientific fields, including mathematics education, amid burgeoning publications. Based on an extensive consideration of existing review typologies, we conducted a meta-review and bibliometric analysis to provide a comprehensive overview of and deeper insights into review studies within mathematics education. After searching Web of Science, we identified 259 review studies, revealing a significant increase in such studies over the last five years. Systematic reviews were the most prevalent type, followed by meta-analyses, generic literature reviews, and scoping reviews. On average, the review studies had a sample size of 99, with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines commonly employed. Despite certain studies offering nuanced distinctions among review types, ambiguity persisted. Only about a quarter of the studies explicitly reported employing specific theoretical frameworks (particularly, technology, knowledge, and competence models). Co-authored publications were most common within American institutions and the leading countries are the United States, Germany, China, Australia, and England in publishing most review studies. Educational review journals, educational psychology journals, special education journals, educational technology journals, and mathematics education journals provided platforms for review studies, and prominent research topics included digital technologies, teacher education, mathematics achievement, and learning disabilities. In this study, we synthesised a range of reviews to facilitate readers' comprehension of conceptual congruities and disparities across various review types, as well as to track current research trends. The results suggest that there is a need for discipline-specific standards and guidelines for different types of mathematics education reviews, which may lead to more high-quality review studies to enhance progress in mathematics education. Background Winter pressures are a familiar phenomenon within the National Health Service and represent the most extreme of many regular demands placed on health and social care service provision. This review focuses on a part of the pathway that is particularly problematic: the discharge process from hospital to social care and the community. Although studies of discharge are plentiful, we identified a need to focus on identifying interventions and initiatives that are a specific response to ‘winter pressures’. This mapping review focuses on interventions or initiatives in relation to hospital winter pressures in the United Kingdom with either discharge planning to increase smart discharge (both a reduction in patients waiting to be discharged and patients being discharged to the most appropriate place) and/or integrated care. Methods We conducted a mapping review of United Kingdom evidence published 2018–22. Initially, we searched MEDLINE, Health Management Information Consortium, Social Care Online, Social Sciences Citation Index and the King’s Fund Library to find relevant interventions in conjunction with winter pressures. From these interventions we created a taxonomy of intervention types and a draft map. A second broader stage of searching was then undertaken for named candidate interventions on Google Scholar (Google Inc., Mountain View, CA, USA). For each taxonomy heading, we produced a table with definitions, findings from research studies, local initiatives and systematic reviews and evidence gaps. Results The taxonomy developed was split into structural, changing staff behaviour, changing community provision, integrated care, targeting carers, modelling and workforce planning. The last two categories were excluded from the scope. Within the different taxonomy sections we generated a total of 41 headings. These headings were further organised into the different stages of the patient pathway: hospital avoidance, alternative delivery site, facilitated discharge and cross-cutting. The evidence for each heading was summarised in tables and evidence gaps were identified. Conclusions Few initiatives identified were specifically identified as a response to winter pressures. Discharge to assess and hospital at home interventions are heavily used and well supported by the evidence but other responses, while also heavily used, were based on limited evidence. There is a lack of studies considering patient, family and provider needs when developing interventions aimed at improving delayed discharge. Additionally, there is a shortage of studies that measure the longer-term impact of interventions. Hospital avoidance and discharge planning are whole-system approaches. Considering the whole health and social care system is imperative to ensure that implementing an initiative in one setting does not just move the problem to another setting. Limitations Time limitations for completing the review constrained the period available for additional searches. This may carry implications for the completeness of the evidence base identified. Future work Further research to consider a realist review that views approaches across the different sectors within a whole system evaluation frame. Plain language summary Every year, the National Health Service struggles with huge care demands from people with heart and lung problems. This ‘mapping review’ aimed to chart the evidence around what has been done to minimise winter pressures related to discharge planning, by helping people leaving hospital sooner, and by optimising integrated care (also known as ‘collaborative care’) and to make suggestions for future research. Good research evidence was identified for three specific approaches: Acute medical units: these units provide rapid assessment, diagnosis and treatment for adults referred by their general practitioner or the emergency department. Discharge to assess: this involves discharging patients who need care services but not an acute hospital bed. Patients are either discharged home or are transferred to an appropriate community setting with short-term funded support while their future care needs are assessed. Hospital at home: this approach provides patients with the care they need at home instead of in hospital (also known as virtual wards). The evidence for many other activities to reduce winter pressures was weaker, coming from case studies, conference presentations or small, low methodological quality (poorly designed or executed) research studies. The review identified many different initiatives with diverse names or labels and it is also important to consider how implementing an initiative in one setting might affect another setting. Further research is recommended around what works best for which patient groups, under what circumstances and why, based on common processes within the different initiatives and across the whole health and social care system. Scientific summary Introduction The term ‘winter pressures’ refers to ‘how hospitals cope with the challenges of maintaining regular service over the winter period’. Attention often focuses on additional demands on accident and emergency services but pressures are exerted in terms of increased demand across the entire health and social care system. Increased prevalence of respiratory and cardiovascular illnesses during the winter places severe demands upon systems that already face difficulties in matching service provision to demand. Better or earlier planning and/or increasing service provision across integrated care systems and related sectors, such as housing, constitute just two of the possible responses to increased demand. Winter pressures are a familiar phenomenon within the National Health Service and represent the most extreme of many regular demands placed on health service provision. The impact of winter pressures is pervasive and operates along a continuum from public health, in mitigation via immunisation campaigns, through to discharge into social care and the community. Interventions target multiple points along this continuum, as well as whole-system approaches. This mapping review focuses on one stage of the pathway, considered particularly problematic, namely the discharge process from hospital. Studies of discharge interventions and transfers of care are plentiful and international initiatives have been reviewed in a recent scoping review. However, a considerable challenge lies in identifying interventions that specifically are articulated as an explicit response to ‘winter pressures’. There is strong rationale for focusing on the subgroup of ‘winter pressure’ interventions as specific interventions implemented in response to acute and severe system pressure. This contrasts with interventions that seek to improve discharge within a system in ‘steady state’. While commentators on the current context articulate that the system experiences ‘winter pressures’ all year round, until recently, responses have targeted the context of winter pressures. Potentially, this set of studies therefore represents a highly relevant evidence base on discharge related interventions to inform current National Health Service (NHS) planning. This mapping review aims to chart and document the evidence in relation to winter pressures in the United Kingdom, together with either discharge planning to increase discharge (both a reduction in patients waiting to be discharged and patients being discharged to the most appropriate place) and/or integrated care. For the purposes of this review, ‘integrated care’ involves partnerships of organisations that come together to plan and deliver joined-up health and care services within NHS England. The primary objective of the mapping review is to address the question: Which interventions in relation to discharge planning/integrated care have been suggested, tried or evaluated in seeking to address winter pressures in the United Kingdom? The secondary review question is: Which research or evaluation gaps exist in relation to service- or system-level interventions as a response to discharge planning/integrated care in the context of winter pressures? In addressing this question the mapping review will seek: To identify a potential winter pressures research agenda in relation to discharge planning/integrated care to inform commissioning of future research. Methods We conducted a mapping review of UK evidence published 2018–22. For the mapping review, we used a two-stage search process to search for the evidence. Initially, we searched MEDLINE, Health Management Information Consortium, Social Care Online, Social Sciences Citation Index and the King’s Fund Library to find relevant interventions. The search was broad for terms for winter pressures. Searches on Google Scholar (Google Inc., Mountain View, CA, USA), which searches the full text instead of just title and abstract, included terms for discharge and integrated care. Study screening and selection was undertaken in Microsoft Excel® (Microsoft Corporation, Redmond, WA, USA) by three reviewers who independently screened the title and abstracts of the 723 references that were retrieved by the search. Study eligibility was based on following aspects – population, exposure, comparative, outcome(s), study types: users of UK health and/or social care systems (population) winter pressures impacting on discharge, to social care and the community, and integrated care (exposure) other foreseeable, unusual or exceptional periods of demand (if appropriate) (comparison – may or may not be present) increased smart discharge (both a reduction in patients waiting to be discharged and patients being discharged to the most appropriate place), system effects, health and health service outcomes, effects on patients, carers and staff (outcomes) eligible types of study design (primary research study, evidence synthesis or research report) (study types). To classify within the broader thematic groups of interventions, we developed a taxonomy documenting the candidate interventions together with other relevant supporting literature. Our team started from categories developed by the Cochrane Effective Practice and Organisation of Care Group for their systematic reviews of discharge planning. These were further expanded using categories from a rapid review produced by the Centre for Clinical Effectiveness, Monash University. This process resulted in the following broad groupings: structural, changing staff behaviour, changing community provision, integrated care and targeting carers. The draft taxonomy was reviewed for parsimony (to minimise duplication of concepts) and comprehensiveness (to include all named interventions identified to date). However, published commentary has documented the non-exclusivity and lack of precision of existing labels. Following the production of the draft map using the taxonomy, we decided to further split the taxonomy headings to represent contributions to the patient pathway: hospital avoidance, alternate delivery site, facilitated discharge and cross-cutting. The modelling and workforce planning groupings were not considered as within scope because of their limited relevance to short-term alleviation of winter pressures and were therefore discarded. The second stage of searching consisted of searches for named candidate interventions from the literature and current practice on Google Scholar. The second stage was to identify where possible reviews, ideally systematic reviews, and these searches were broader than winter pressures but were limited to research published from 2012 to 2022. The second-stage searches helped in completing the intervention tables and identifying the evidence gaps. Research priorities were classified as high, moderate or low and further classified by the nature of the evidence gap(s) identified (research gap, synthesis gap and/or implementation gap). Results The taxonomy consists of a total of 41 headings. These headings were further organised into the different contributions to the patient pathway: hospital avoidance, alternative delivery site, facilitated discharge and cross-cutting. The evidence for each heading was provided and this helped with identification of the evidence gaps. Within structural interventions for the hospital avoidance part of the patient pathway research gap were identified for same-day emergency care and research and implementation gaps for surgical hubs. The alternative delivery sites subsection is populated by systematic review evidence for the effectiveness of acute medical units, other specialist units developing using winter funding need to be fully evaluated. Models based on ‘discharge to assess’ (also ‘home first’ and others) within facilitated discharge are relatively well researched. Some taxonomy headings (e.g. ‘bed management’ and ‘discharge co-ordinators’) were often evaluated within a broader process of ‘discharge planning’. ‘Patient flow’ is another broad heading with some overlap with both bed management and discharge planning. The concept of patient flow is also broader than facilitated discharge, although its ultimate goal is ensuring safe discharge as soon as is clinically appropriate. The evidence base for initiatives defined as ‘cross-cutting’ varied widely and was characterised by case studies with a lack of research studies. Community provision initiatives and integrated care were heterogeneous and characterised by multiple diverse initiatives, largely unevaluated, and by involvement of multiple contributors and sectors. Overall, the evidence base is characterised by large numbers of case studies, often published online or presented at conferences, and relatively few peer-reviewed journal articles. Case studies are often accompanied by guidance to support implementation of changes to services. This distribution of evidence probably reflects the urgent need to develop and implement solutions to the ever increasing winter (and increasingly year round) pressures on the health and care system. The majority of evaluations report positive effects on important outcomes such as length of hospital stay but many are uncontrolled or based on small samples, meaning that they need to be interpreted with caution. Conclusions Few initiatives identified were specifically implemented as a response to winter pressures. Hospital at home, as a heavily used intervention, was well-supported by the evidence but other responses, while also heavily used, were based on limited evidence. There is a lack of studies considering patient, family and provider needs when developing interventions aimed at improving delayed discharge. Additionally, few studies measure the impact of interventions over a long time; short-term results can appear promising but evidence for longer-term sustainability is notably absent. Hospital avoidance and delayed discharge requires a whole-system approach. It is imperative to consider the whole system to ensure that implementing an initiative in one setting does not just move the problem to another setting. Limitations Time limitations for completing the review constrained the period available for additional searches with a focus on systematic reviews and high-profile studies. This carries implications for the variability of coverage and completeness of the evidence base identified. Implications for service delivery Effective interventions to avoid hospital admission, deliver services in different settings and facilitate discharge are key to reducing short-term acute pressures on health and social care. These pressures are generally associated with the winter period but have increasingly been experienced throughout the year and are particularly acute at the time of writing (January 2023). Longer-term improvements to service delivery may require policy changes related to investment and workforce planning that are outside the scope of this review. Implications for research We identified high priority topics for primary research and evaluation in all the broad groupings of taxonomy headings as follows: Changing community provision: private sector, step-up facilities. Changing staff behaviour: clinical audit, quality improvement programmes, protocols/guidelines, quality management systems. Integrated care: integrated care discharge huddle. Structural (S): bed management, extra service delivery, governance, monitoring and review, same-day services, specialist units, volunteers. In terms of evidence synthesis, our detailed exploration further supports the need for a realist review that views approaches across the different sectors within a whole-system evaluation frame. Further evidence synthesis should consider identified synthesis gaps in research within the aforementioned areas. IntroductionAspiration pneumonia (AP) is an infection of the lungs caused by inhalation of material. The reported incidences vary across literature and clinical populations and is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Management of AP is best carried out by a multidisciplinary team.MethodsThis aim of this review was to collate and describe the available evidence on AP to develop a greater understanding of the concept of AP as it is represented in the nursing literature. As a collaborative team, we undertook the six stages of a systematic mapping review. We searched for the term aspiration pneumonia in 200 peer reviewed nursing journals across 10 databases, over a ten-year period (2013–2023).ResultsIn this review, 293 papers were coded. Dysphagia, oral health and tube feeding emerged as the most frequent risk factors for AP, and the most reported factors for preventing this condition. Mortality was the most commonly described consequence of AP, followed by hospitalisations and morbidity. Multiple management approaches were reported including dysphagia assessment, risk evaluation, oral care and texture modification of food and fluids. The role of nurses and interprofessional collaborations were described.DiscussionDespite limited evidence related to the topic of AP in the nursing literature, the complexity of the causes, prevention, management and consequences of AP emerged. Certain factors, such as dysphagia, oral health, and tube feeding, were described under prevention, cause and management of AP. The importance of multidisciplinary approach in the management and prevention of AP was presented.

No studies assessed Indigenous Peoples or racial minorities, and few assessed patients with a disability or patients experiencing homelessness. The most common interventions were referrals, care plans, case management, care coordination, and follow-up phone calls. Most studies reported ED revisits, hospitalization, costs, length-of-stay, or outpatient utilization. Few assessed patient or staff perspectives. About one-third of studies (n = 24) reported significant reductions in ED revisits. Conclusions Similar interventions, mainly focused on care coordination and planning, have been implemented to address frequent use of the ED. There are still significant gaps in the populations that have been studied. Efforts now must be undertaken to study more diverse populations whose care needs are not being met elsewhere and thus frequent the ED often.

A review of existing assessment approaches, frameworks, models, and methods is essential for the development of feasible and effective assessment approaches in low-resource settings. Key summary points: Aim: Review undertaken to identify and explore suitable strategies and interventions for managing or reducing the impact of pain for community-dwelling older people with frailty from the evidence in a broader population. Findings: Thirty-one randomised controlled trials (RCTs) that collectively evaluated 16 pain management programmes and 17 psychological therapies were identified. The common mechanisms of change proposed in the studies were enhancing self-efficacy, using positive psychological skills or refocusing attention to improve responses to pain, and practising physical exercises to improve physiological well-being and reduce restrictions from pain. Message: All the evaluated interventions appeared to show potential benefits to older people that may be transferable to those with frailty. Purpose: Persistent pain is common in older people and people living with frailty. Pain or the impact of pain on everyday life is potentially modifiable. We sought to map research evidence and information from randomised controlled trials (RCTs) of pain management programmes and psychological therapies targeting community-dwelling older people, and explore appropriate strategies and interventions for managing or reducing the negative impact of pain for older people, particularly those with frailty. Method: A mapping review of pain management programmes and psychological therapies for community-dwelling older people living with chronic pain. We searched for systematic reviews of randomised controlled trials and for individual randomised controlled trials and extracted data from eligible studies. Results: Searches resulted in 3419 systematic review records and 746 RCT records from which there were 33 eligible interventions identified in 31 eligible RCTs (48 reports). Broad aims of the interventions were to: improve physical, psychological, or social functioning; adjust the effects or sensation of pain psychologically; enhance self-care with self-management skills or knowledge. Common mechanisms of change proposed were self-efficacy enhanced by self-management tasks and skills, using positive psychological skills or refocusing attention to improve responses to pain, and practising physical exercises to improve physiological well-being and reduce restrictions from pain. Content of interventions included: skills training and activity management, education, and physical exercise. Interventions were delivered in person or remotely to individuals or in groups, typically in 1–2 sessions weekly over 5–12 weeks. Conclusion: All the evaluated interventions appeared to show potential to provide some benefits to older people. None of the included studies assessed frailty. As multiple treatment plans can be adopted for these patients depending on tumor size and nodal staging, stage III NSCLC management is challenging. Over the past decades, multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) have been implemented in healthcare services to coordinate actions among the different health care professionals involved in cancer care. The aim of this review was to discuss real-world evidence of the impact of MDTs on stage III NSCLC management, survival, and quality of life. Here, we performed a literature review to investigate the role of nutrition and navigational nursing in NSCLC care and the influence of MDTs in the choice of treatment plans, including immunotherapy consolidation, and in the management of chemotherapy and radiotherapy-related adverse events. Introduction Trigeminal neuralgia is a painful neuropathic disorder characterized by sudden electric shock–like pain that significantly impacts patients' quality of life. Multiple treatment alternatives are available, including medical and surgical options but establishing the optimal course of action can be challenging. To enhance clinical decision-making for trigeminal neuralgia treatment, it is imperative to organize, describe and map the available systematic reviews and randomized trials. This will help identify the best treatment alternatives supported by evidence and acknowledge potential knowledge gaps where future research is needed. Objective This systematic mapping review aims to provide up-to-date evidence on the different surgical and pharmacological treatment alternatives used for trigeminal neuralgia. Methods A search will be systematically conducted on the Epistemonikos database to identify potentially eligible systematic reviews. Additionally, a search will be made in PubMed, CENTRAL, and EBSCO to identify randomized controlled trials assessing pharmacological and surgical treatment interventions for trigeminal neuralgia. Two independent reviewers will screen and select the studies. Data on the different treatment alternatives and reported outcomes in the included studies will be extracted using standardized forms. Following extraction, descriptive statistical methods will be used to analyze the data. The final output of this study will include an evidence map that will illustrate the connections between different treatments and their respective outcomes, providing a clear depiction of the evidence landscape. Expected results This study expects to map, describe and assess the methodological quality of the available systematic reviews and trials on pharmacological interventions and neurosurgical procedures for treating trigeminal neuralgia. It will present the results in an evidence map that organizes the available evidence based on their different interventions and outcomes. This evidence map will serve as a visual tool to assist healthcare professionals and patients to understand evidence-based treatment options and their implications for managing this medical condition.

The development and use of oral anticancer agents (OAAs) continue to grow, and supporting individuals on OAAs is now a priority as they find themselves taking these drugs at home with little professional guidance. This mapping review provides an overview of the current evidence concerning OAA-supportive adherence interventions, identifying potential gaps, and making recommendations to guide future work. Four large databases and the grey literature were searched for publications from 2010 to 2022. Quantitative, qualitative, mixed-method, theses/dissertations, reports, and abstracts were included, whereas protocols and reviews were excluded. Duplicates were removed, and the remaining publications were screened by title and abstract. Full-text publications were assessed and those meeting the inclusion criteria were retained. Data extracted included the year of publication, theoretical underpinnings, study design, targeted patients, sample size, intervention type, and primary outcome(s). 3175 publications were screened, with 435 fully read. Of these, 314 were excluded with 120 retained. Of the 120 publications, 39.2% (n = 47) were observational studies, 38.3% (n = 46) were quasi-experimental, and 16.7% (n = 20) were experimental. Only 17.5% (n = 21) were theory-based. Despite the known efficacy of multi-modal interventions, 63.7% (n = 76) contained one or two modalities, 33.3% (n = 40) included 3, and 3.3% (n = 4) contained four types of modalities. Medication adherence was measured primarily through self-report (n = 31) or chart review/pharmacy refills (n = 28). Given the importance of patient tailored interventions, future work should test whether having four intervention modalities (behavioral, educational, medical, and technological) guided by theory can optimize OAA-related outcomes.

Zusammenfassung Organisationen der Weiterbildung sind mit zunehmenden Qualitätsanforderungen konfrontiert. Die Weiterbildungsforschung hat darauf bislang besonders unter Perspektiven der Koordination und Steuerung Bezug genommen. Demgegenüber ist der Bedeutung regulatorischer Einflüsse für die operative Entwicklung von Qualität durch die Mitarbeitenden in Weiterbildungsorganisationen weniger Aufmerksamkeit zuteilgeworden. Der Beitrag gibt anhand eines Mapping Reviews einen Überblick über den aktuellen Diskurs zu Qualität in Organisationen der Weiterbildung. Entlang von sechs Themensträngen verdeutlichen die Befunde zentrale Schwerpunkte. Zugleich bieten die Befunde erste Anhaltspunkte für das Verständnis organisationsinterner Handlungskoordination bei der Entwicklung von Qualität. Unter der Perspektive der Educational-Governance-Forschung werden diese Anhaltspunkte für künftige Forschung weiterentwickelt. Im Ergebnis stehen Vorschläge, die den Qualitätsdiskurs im Hinblick auf eine verschränkte Auseinandersetzung mit Steuerungsphänomenen auf der Makroebene und binnenorganisatorischen Prozessen der Qualitätsentwicklung voranbringen.

Objectives: We set out to map the quantitative and qualitative systematic review evidence available to inform the optimal prescribing of drugs that can cause dependency (benzodiazepines, opioids, non-benzodiazepine hypnotics, gabapentinoids and antidepressants). We also consider how this evidence can be used to inform decision-making in the patient care pathway for each type of medication. Methods: Eight bibliographic databases were searched for the period 2010 to 2020. All included reviews were initially appraised using four items from the Collaboration for Environmental Evidence Synthesis Assessment Tool, with reviews that scored well on all items proceeding to full quality appraisal. Key characteristics of the reviews were tabulated, and each review was incorporated into an evidence and gap map based on a patient care pathway. The care pathway was based upon an amalgamation of existing NICE guidelines and feedback from clinical and patient stakeholders. Results: We identified 80 relevant reviews and displayed them in an evidence and gap map. The evidence included in these reviews was predominantly of low overall quality. Areas where systematic reviews have been conducted include barriers and facilitators to the deprescribing of drugs that may cause dependency, although we identified little evidence exploring the experiences or evaluations of specific interventions to promote deprescribing. All medications of interest, apart from gabapentinoids, were included in at least one review. Conclusions: The evidence and gap map provides an interactive resource to support (i) policy developers and service commissioners to use evidence in the development and delivery of services for people receiving a prescription of drugs that may cause dependency, where withdrawal of medication may be appropriate, (ii) the clinical decision-making of prescribers and (iii) the commissioning of further research. The map can also be used to inform the commissioning of further systematic reviews. To address the concerns regarding the quality of the existing evidence based raised in this report, future reviews should be conducted according to best-practice guidelines. Systematic reviews focusing on evaluating interventions to promote deprescribing would be particularly beneficial, as would reviews focusing on addressing the paucity of evidence regarding the deprescription of gabapentinoids. Aims: To map literature on prognostic factors related to outcomes of revision total knee arthroplasty (rTKA), to identify extensively studied factors and to guide future research into what domains need further exploration. Methods: We performed a systematic literature search in MEDLINE, Embase, and Web of Science. The search string included multiple synonyms of the following keywords: "revision TKA", "outcome" and "prognostic factor". We searched for studies assessing the association between at least one prognostic factor and at least one outcome measure after rTKA surgery. Data on sample size, study design, prognostic factors, outcomes, and the direction of the association was extracted and included in an evidence map. Results: After screening of 5,660 articles, we included 166 studies reporting prognostic factors for outcomes after rTKA, with a median sample size of 319 patients (30 to 303,867). Overall, 50% of the studies reported prospectively collected data, and 61% of the studies were performed in a single centre. In some studies, multiple associations were reported; 180 different prognostic factors were reported in these studies. The three most frequently studied prognostic factors were reason for revision (213 times), sex (125 times), and BMI (117 times). Studies focusing on functional scores and patient-reported outcome measures as prognostic factor for the outcome after surgery were limited (n = 42). The studies reported 154 different outcomes. The most commonly reported outcomes after rTKA were: re-revision (155 times), readmission (88 times), and reinfection (85 times). Only five studies included costs as outcome. Conclusion: Outcomes and prognostic factors that are routinely registered as part of clinical practice (e.g. BMI, sex, complications) or in (inter)national registries are studied frequently. Studies on prognostic factors, such as functional and sociodemographic status, and outcomes as healthcare costs, cognitive and mental function, and psychosocial impact are scarce, while they have been shown to be important for patients with osteoarthritis. This review distills consumers’ responses to influencer advertising based on their gender. There is a growing literature on influencer marketing, but there is no systematization of the findings related to gender, although this variable is pivotal in shaping consumers’ attitudes. To cover this gap, a mapping literature review which uses a thematic approach was undertaken. The literature search in Scopus and Web of Science returned 18 studies published between 2011 and May 2022, which were eligible as they offer empirical confirmation regarding the gendered outcomes of influencer marketing. All studies focus on consumers with cisgender identities. Descriptive data concerning the main findings about gender, the proximal source, and product/service categories were extracted. The results are synthesized in factors associated with (i) female consumers, (ii) male consumers, and (iii) cross-gender patterns. They reveal the importance of gender congruity amongst female consumers and the link between a positive attitude towards the endorser and persuasive message receptivity. Male consumers’ responsiveness displays a less predictable sequence, as it is enhanced to a higher degree by the persuasive message per se. The findings suggest that in matters of susceptibility to influencer advertising, the gender difference hypothesis holds the upper hand by comparison to the gender convergence in regard to consumers’ attitudes.

Having a sense of connection with people and belonging to place are important for mental wellbeing. These dimensions of connectedness are often studied separately, using different theoretical frameworks, such as social capital and topophilia. Based on a mapping review of the literature, this paper aims to examine the available evidence on how mental health and wellbeing has been influenced by people's experiences of different dimensions of connectedness in the population of the Scottish islands. The findings show the importance of people having a sense of connection not only to communities present and past, but also to the land, and to the natural environment. They also show how experiences of these different facets of connectedness vary between social groups and shift over time, and how they are sustained through social practices in different places and spaces of interaction on the islands. Reflecting on these findings, the paper considers the strengths and limits of existing approaches. It suggests that there may be a value in using more integrated and context-sensitive approaches in future, to better understand the intersections between different dimensions of connectedness and how they contribute to overall mental wellbeing in given populations and places.

In light of the proliferation of scientometric/bibliometric software and its accessibility to a wide array of researchers, we have witnessed a substantial increase in literature analyses founded in these methods across diverse scientific domains. With these methods gaining popularity, the influx of similar papers seeking publication is expected to continue in the forthcoming years. However, persistent questions remain regarding the benchmarks for a well-justified, informative, and publication-worthy scientometric review paper. This concern resonates not only with authors but also holds significance for editors and reviewers tasked with evaluating the quality, rigour, and relevance of such contributions. In this context, this paper furnishes a concise guide elucidating the fundamental criteria underpinning a publication-worthy scientometric literature analysis. Encompassing the entire spectrum of steps integral to a scientometric review, the guide addresses the rationale and benefits of undertaking such an analysis. This includes all relevant aspects such as scoping, data procurement and search methodologies, visualisation, result delineation and interpretation. Furthermore, this guide addresses a range of prevalent misconceptions and common errors with respect to this genre of scholarly publications. It concludes by proposing a quality checklist that can be used as a standard benchmark for assessing studies that employ methodologies of scientometric literature analysis.

IntroductionAs a means for supporting a range of health and wellbeing goals, social prescribing programs have been implemented around the world. Reflecting a range of contexts, needs, innovation, and programing, a broad array of outcomes has been studied in relation to these programs. As interest in social prescribing grows, more targeted study of key outcomes and in turn evidence synthesis that can inform evidence-based practice, policy, and investment is needed.Methods and ResultsThis mapping review identified, described, and synthesized the broad array of social prescribing outcomes that have been studied in 13 countries and maps the outcomes that have been most commonly studied. From 87 articles included in this review, a total of 347 unique outcomes were identified, including 278 unique patient outcomes and 69 unique system outcomes. The most commonly studied categories of patient outcomes were found to be mental health, lifestyle and behavior, and patient/service user experience. The most commonly studied system outcomes were healthcare/service utilization and financial/economic outcomes.DiscussionThis review highlights the value of heterogeneity and mixed methods approaches in outcomes studies for capturing nuanced experiences and outcomes in this nascent area of practice, while contributing to the advancement of evidence synthesis for social prescribing globally by quantifying and offering insight into the outcomes that have been studied to date. It also lays a foundation for the development of key common outcomes and a Core Outcomes Set for social prescribing. Additionally, it identified key outcomes that, given their relationship to critical health and social issues, warrant both broader and deeper study.

Old age disabilities are more common among women than men, and adverse socioeconomic conditions are associated with a higher prevalence of disabilities among older adults. The goal of this study was to complete a mapping review of the available evidence assessing the extent to which the observed sex differences in older adults' disabilities can be attributed to sex differences in socioeconomic status. We searched three databases for articles published between 2009 and 2019, and after screening and looking at eligibility criteria, 6 articles were included in the review. For those studies that did not directly analyse the contribution of socioeconomic conditions, we used the 'difference method' to estimate the proportion of the sex gap in disabilities among older adults that could be attributed to socioeconomic conditions. Our review demonstrated that women generally have a higher prevalence of disabilities than men. In several studies, these differences could be partly attributed to sex differences in the distribution of socioeconomic conditions. We also find great elasticity in the magnitude of both the sex gap in disabilities and in the proportion that could be attributed to differences in socioeconomic conditions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Online collaborative learning is increasingly used in online courses in higher education, but assessing student online collaborative learning presents unique challenges as well as interesting opportunities. Thus, it is critical to gain a clear picture of online group collaboration assessment strategies, including group learning assessment methods and examining the effectiveness, challenges, and opportunities in online education. The present study systematically reviewed 12 empirical studies on online collaborative learning assessment in higher education published in journals from 2011 to 2021. The results show that diverse strategies were used to facilitate group collaboration, including group agreements, project planning, role assignments, problem-based projects, and instructor feedback. The reviewed studies primarily evaluated learners through instructor evaluation, peer evaluation, and self-evaluation methods. The most common strategy was instructor assessment, while self-evaluations were used the least. The next 1000 days – the period from 2 to 5 years of age – has been highlighted as a key developmental stage in the life‐course. A mapping review was conducted to categorize existing literature on interventions in the next 1000 days that promote key developmental outcomes, including publications between 1990 and July 2020. A total of 805 intervention studies were included for data extraction in the review. The number of intervention studies has increased substantially from 2010. Most interventions were from high‐income countries, with few (5%) from low‐ and lower‐middle‐income countries. Interventions including typically developing children (n = 593, 74%) were mostly (80%) implemented in early childhood care and education (ECCE) settings, with 15% taking place in the home or with families and 5% in community or healthcare settings. Children's literacy and language outcomes were the target of 27% of these interventions, while 25% of interventions targeted early childhood development more holistically or targeted multiple developmental domains. Social–emotional development and social skills were the target of 15% of interventions, motor development 13%, numeracy 8% and cognitive development 8%. For children with any developmental delay, disability, disease or exposure (n = 212), interventions frequently targeted Autism Spectrum Disorder (24%), language or literacy delays (21%), developmental delays or disability more generally (20%); 16% targeted behavioral (or conduct) problems; and 5% targeted attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Almost half (49%) took place in ECCE settings; 24% occurred in the home or with families, or in community (13%) and/or healthcare (14%) settings. This review highlights the need for more intervention research in low‐ and middle‐income countries and for interventions supporting development in the next 1000 days. Background: Treating lower leg ulcers is a multifaceted problem and requires a comprehensive approach. Appropriate care requires both skill and knowledge in the application of evidence-based care. New evidence regarding wound care and the management of lower leg ulcers is emerging continuously, yet care seems to lack standardisation, and guidelines are not implemented. Method: A systematic process was followed to address the research question that focused on the characteristics, assessment methods, and treatment options of evidence-based practices for people with lower leg ulcers in all healthcare settings. An electronic search of seven different databases was conducted for publications from 2011 to 2020. Studies were assessed for relevance and 44 of 668 publications were included. Data were charted literatim and checked for accuracy. Conclusion: Data charted from the reports were organised into themes, categories and subcategories, and aided in identifying links and concepts regarding history taking, assessment, treatment, wound assessment, referral criteria, outcome measures, health dialogue, and product options as the first step in the development of a care pathway for lower leg ulcers. This review distills consumers' responses to influencer advertising based on their gender. There is a growing literature on influencer marketing, but there is no systematization of the findings related to gender, although this variable is pivotal in shaping consumers' attitudes. To cover this gap, a mapping literature review which uses a thematic approach was undertaken. The literature search in Scopus and Web of Science returned 18 studies published between 2011 and May 2022, which were eligible as they offer empirical confirmation regarding the gendered outcomes of influencer marketing. All studies focus on consumers with cisgender identities. Descriptive data concerning the main findings about gender, the proximal source, and product/service categories were extracted. The results are synthesized in factors associated with (i) female consumers, (ii) male consumers, and (iii) cross-gender patterns. They reveal the importance of gender congruity amongst female consumers and the link between a positive attitude towards the endorser and persuasive message receptivity. Male consumers' responsiveness displays a less predictable sequence, as it is enhanced to a higher degree by the persuasive message per se. The findings suggest that in matters of susceptibility to influencer advertising, the gender difference hypothesis holds the upper hand by comparison to the gender convergence in regard to consumers' attitudes. Abstract Background Comfort is a primary patient objective and central to patient experience, and thus, maximising comfort is a universal goal for healthcare. However, comfort is a complex concept that is difficult to operationalise and evaluate, resulting in a lack of scientific and standardised comfort care practices. The Comfort Theory developed by Kolcaba has been the most widely known for its systematisation and projection and most of the global publications regarding comfort care were based on this theory. To develop international guidance on theory-informed comfort care, a better understanding about the evidence on the effects of interventions guided by the Comfort Theory is needed. Objectives To map and present the available evidence on the effects of interventions underpinned by Kolcaba’s Comfort theory in healthcare settings. Methods The mapping review will follow Campbell Evidence and Gap Maps guideline and Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews Protocols guidelines. An intervention-outcome framework has been developed based on Comfort Theory and the classification of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions via consultation with stakeholders. Eleven electronic databases (MEDLINE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Embase, AMED, Cochrane Library, JBI Library of Systematic Reviews, Web of Science, Scopus, CNKI and Wan Fang) and grey literature sources (Google Scholar, Baidu Scholar and The Comfort Line) will be searched for primary studies and systematic reviews between 1991 and 2023 written in English and Chinese as the papers regarding Comfort Theory were first published in 1991. Additional studies will be identified by reference list review of included studies. Key authors will be contacted for unpublished or ongoing studies. Two independent reviewers will screen and extract data using piloted forms with discrepancies resolved by discussion with a third reviewer. A matrix map with filters of study characteristics will be generated and presented through software of EPPI-Mapper and NVivo. Discussion More informed use of theory can strengthen improvement programmes and facilitate the evaluation of their effectiveness. Findings from the evidence and gap map will present the existing evidence base for researchers, practitioners and policy-makers and inform further research as well as clinical practices aiming at patients’ comfort enhancement.

The research community on the study and design of systems for personal informatics has grown over the past decade. To take stock of what the topics the field has studied and methods the field has used, we map and label 523 publications from ACM's library, IEEE Xplore, and PubMed. We surface that the literature has focused on studying and designing for health and wellness domains, an emphasis on understanding and overcoming barriers to data collection and reflection, and progressively fewer contributions involving artifacts being made. Our mapping review suggests directions future research could explore, such as identifying and resolving barriers to tracking stages beyond collection and reflection, engaging more with domain experts, and further discussing the privacy and ethical concerns around tracked data.

Abstract Background Within evidence-based practice (EBP), systematic reviews (SR) are considered the highest level of evidence in that they summarize the best available research and describe the progress in a determined field. Due its methodology, SR require significant time and resources to be performed; they also require repetitive steps that may introduce biases and human errors. Machine learning (ML) algorithms therefore present a promising alternative and a potential game changer to speed up and automate the SR process. This review aims to map the current availability of computational tools that use ML techniques to assist in the performance of SR, and to support authors in the selection of the right software for the performance of evidence synthesis. Methods The mapping review was based on comprehensive searches in electronic databases and software repositories to obtain relevant literature and records, followed by screening for eligibility based on titles, abstracts, and full text by two reviewers. The data extraction consisted of listing and extracting the name and basic characteristics of the included tools, for example a tool’s applicability to the various SR stages, pricing options, open-source availability, and type of software. These tools were classified and graphically represented to facilitate the description of our findings. Results A total of 9653 studies and 585 records were obtained from the structured searches performed on selected bibliometric databases and software repositories respectively. After screening, a total of 119 descriptions from publications and records allowed us to identify 63 tools that assist the SR process using ML techniques. Conclusions This review provides a high-quality map of currently available ML software to assist the performance of SR. ML algorithms are arguably one of the best techniques at present for the automation of SR. The most promising tools were easily accessible and included a high number of user-friendly features permitting the automation of SR and other kinds of evidence synthesis reviews.

Simple Summary: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most diagnosed cancer worldwide and the second leading cause of death in the United States. Many deaths associated with CRC are due to the metastatic spread of colon tumors to the liver. Drinking alcohol has been associated with liver diseases and an increased risk of developing colon cancer. However, it is not understood whether alcohol consumption and related liver damage associates with liver metastasis and worse outcomes in CRC patients. The objective of this study was to conduct a systematic mapping review of the literature to identify gaps in research investigating alcohol use and the risk of colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM). The review identified 14 publications in the last decade that evaluated alcohol use, the risk of CRLM, and contributing mechanisms involved in promoting metastasis in the alcohol-injured liver. The number of studies identified demonstrates the limited focus in current research evaluating the consequences of alcohol consumption in metastatic disease and the health of CRC patients. Overall, significant gaps in this area of research have been identified demonstrating the need for a better understanding of major worldwide healthcare issues related to alcohol use and CRC outcomes. The consumption of alcohol has long been associated with the development of liver disease as well as cancers including colorectal cancer (CRC). Leading healthcare concerns include the prevalent use of alcohol and the high burden of CRC mortality. Many CRC deaths are attributed to the development of colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM) as the liver is the foremost site of CRC spread. However, an association has not been defined for the role of alcohol intake and related liver injury with the development of CRLM. Here, a mapping review of recent research was undertaken to evaluate the relationship between alcohol consumption and the risk of CRLM. The literature search revealed 14 articles meeting the inclusion criteria that included patient database analyses and preclinical studies. Most of the human data analyses found alcohol use independently associates with worse CRC outcomes. The preclinical evaluations identified several pathways involved in the alcohol-mediated promotion of CRLM burden and CRC cell metastatic behavior. The limited number of studies identified exposes a significant need for more prospective analyses to define the role of alcohol intake and advanced CRC as well as the translation of preclinical research to fully characterize targetable mechanisms for the generation of new therapeutic options. Melasma is a challenging chronic skin condition associated with hyperpigmentation and unknown aetiology. This scoping review maps evidence of available treatments and their effectiveness in darker skin types. A comprehensive, systematic online search was conducted in Scopus, PubMed, CINAHL Complete, Cochrane, ScienceDirect, and Web of Science Core Collection. All eligible titles were exported to an EndNote20 library (Clarivate analytics, US). Thematic content analysis was performed to summarise data on current melasma treatments for darker skin types. The quality of included articles was appraised using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT) 2018 version. A total of 2863 articles were retrieved from the databases, and 10 met the eligibility criteria following abstract and full-text screening. Our findings demonstrate that topical treatments, chemical peels, lasers, and tranexamic acid are common treatment modalities used in darker skin types. Although these treatments may be effective in the short term, they bring about undesirable side effects and sometimes worsen or result in reoccurrences of melasma. Based on the evidence mapped, current treatment modalities are not suitable for darker skin types. There are very few studies conducted on individuals of African descent. Further research is necessary to investigate treatment interventions that may be user-friendly when dealing with darker skin types. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Young people with mental illness should be offered evidence-based treatments. In 2018, we developed a national evidence portal in Norway providing mental health professionals and others with living evidence summaries. This immense work has been an important contribution to mental health care in Norway but is also a rich data source for exploring the characteristics and evidence gaps of the existing research internationally. At the time of this study, eight overviews of systematic reviews (OoOs) had been published. These addressed treatments for attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), self-harm and trauma/ post-traumatic stress disorder. The objective of this study was to do a secondary analysis of this evidence to describe the state-of-the art in this field, and to map: treatments evaluated for each patient group and the longest time of follow-up treatment comparisons evaluated for more than one patient group Methods: We performed a mapping review of the eight OoOs. Data extraction was performed by one author and double-checked by another. All data was entered into Excel. Findings were visualized in descriptive tables and using Sunburst-diagrams. We used statistical thresholds to determine the size of effect and report the associated certainty. Results: We identified 200 treatment comparisons including a wide variety of interventions. Some mental illnesses are treated mostly with pharmacological or combination therapies and others solely with psychological or psychosocial treatments or with more diversity. The evidence supporting most treatments is of low to very low certainty. Ten percent of the comparisons included follow-up assessments beyond 12 months. Cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectic behavioural therapy, physical activity and mindfulness interventions were effective across populations. Conclusions: The evidence supporting treatment of mental illness in young people has important limitations. Future research efforts should address these evidence gaps.
