Background Migration of the stent-graft post-thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) is not uncommon; however, it is sparsely reported. The objective of this study was to assess the incidence, risk factors, and complications of stent-graft migration post-TEVAR. Materials and Methods Thirty-one patients who underwent TEVAR were retrospectively analyzed. The demographic, anatomical, and procedure-related factors were assessed. The measurements were done along the greater curvature of aorta around two fixed anatomic landmarks, that is, left common carotid artery or neoinnominate artery (hybrid repair) proximally and celiac artery distally. Aortic elongation and migration at proximal, distal, as well as at overlapping zone were measured. More than 10 mm of migration was considered significant. Results Significant migration was observed in six (19%) patients. No significant migration was observed in the overlapping zone. The proximal landing zone 3 (odds ratio [OR] 12.78, p 0.01) was a significant risk factor, whereas landing zone 2 was a protective factor against the migration (OR 0.08, p 0.02). The odds for migration were more in segments I/3 and II/3 compared with I/2 and II/2, respectively, as per Modified Arch Landing Areas Nomenclature. A single complication was seen in the migration group which was treated by an overlapping stent graft. Conclusion The stent-graft migration after TEVAR is not uncommon. Type 3 proximal landing zone was a significant risk factor for migration with an increased risk toward I/3 and II/3. Proximal landing zone 2 as well as adequate overlapping distance in multiple stent grafts can prevent migration. Ethical Approval No IECPG-227/24.06.2020

BIOACTIVE compounds ,FOOD additives ,SESAME ,NATURAL foods industry ,FOOD packaging ,SUNFLOWER seed oil ,OPUNTIA ficus-indica - Abstract
Currently, there is an increasing trend to replace artificial antioxidants with natural antioxidants. However, certain naturally occurring antioxidants have lower antioxidant activities than artificial antioxidants. Therefore, they will not be as effective in preventing cellular damage. Nevertheless, if they are controlled, natural antioxidants represent a valuable alternative to synthetic antioxidants. With regard to current knowledge, new applications of natural antioxidants in the food industry include food additives, feedstuffs, food packaging materials, and nutraceuticals. The younger leaves of Malan (Kalimeris indica (L.) Sch. Bip.), often referred to as "malanto", are usually eaten as a vegetable. The findings of this study demonstrated that malanto flavonoids form the active ingredient of the naturally occurring malanto. The malanto extract contains six flavonoids with antioxidant capacity. Malanto flavonoids (0.02% addition) were evaluated for their antioxidant effects and were found to be similar to BHT in inhibiting the peroxidation of sesame, soybean, and sunflower oils. This study aims to provide unique insights into the comprehensive utilization of the flavonoids extracted from malanto. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Politocratic communitarianism supports the historic revival of ancient Greek notions of social life in opposition to the nominalist trends in modernistic philosophy of society. The need for a penetrating normative philosophy of society from an integral non-dualistic angle to social life is manifest from Danie Goosen's and Koos Malan's pursuit of the neo-Aristotelian philosophical revival of the Greek polis: their formalistic approach to sociology, the dialectical tension between "normativity" and "factuality", and the juxtaposing of the "general" and the "specific" in their approach to social phenomena. In this article the shortcomings of politocratic communitarianism are traced to its immanentist approach to social theory with all the ensuing dialectical tensions emanating from its social philosophy and its views on the role of the state in society. - Abstract
Die gevolg was dat 'n groot aant, The controversy started by Johannes Du Plessis over the question whether everything in the Bible was inspired by God, caused a crisis in the Dutch Reformed Church, which is listed as a beacon in its history. Most of the points he raised are accepted as truth today, and started an intellectual debate that is still going on. Information relating to Du Plessis’ origins, training, and achievements as a minister and church official is briefly noted. He was the talented son, and only child of an Afrikaner father and minister of religion, and an English mother, the daughter of an LMS missionary. He became a professor at the Seminary in Stellenbosch, after his studies overseas had caused him to question parts of the Old Testament text that could not be regarded as divinely inspired. He also made it quite clear that believing without trying to understand was not possible for him as a theologian and teacher. He proclaimed his findings in Het Zoeklicht, a monthly magazine intended to serve as a searchlight and an organ to reveal the “darkness” that was still prevalent in both religion and politics. Aware of the value of Higher Criticism of the Old Testament, he regarded it his duty to make known what he had found in reading widely and in critical research on the origins, form and content of the books of the Bible. Articles to this effect published first in De Kerkbode and then in Het Zoeklicht, caused an outcry from conservative readers who were opposed to any changes in the teaching of the church. They were especially enraged by his view that the confessions drawn up by Reformers 500 years earlier, were open for review. Complaints that Du Plessis was on a dangerous path, marked the beginning of what was regarded as a crisis in the Church, and in the end led to Du Plessis being relieved of his post by a special Synod convened in 1930. The views of the conservative majority, however, prevailed. As a result, a large number of leading ministers and theologians, who openly support

The article reports on indications that Union of South Africa Prime Minister Daniel Francois Malan is breaking his country's association with the British Commonwealth. According to the article, Malan replaced the "God Save the Queen" as the national anthem of South Africa with "Die Stem van Suid Africa." He also created a batch of new military awards, including the "Cape of Good Hope" decoration, which takes precedence over all other decorations, medals and orders.

The article discusses South African ichthyologist James Leonard Brierley Smith's discovery of a coelacanth fish he named Malania artjouanae in the Mozambique Channel near Madagascar. Zoologists had believed coelacanths to be extinct for at least 500 million years until the discovery of one off the coast of East London, South Africa in 1938. The fish is described as being similar to the sea-keeping ancestors of all land vertebrates. Smith named his discovery after South African Prime Minister Daniel François Malan.

International audience; Building authoring applications is a tedious and complex task that requires a high programming effort. Document technologies, especially XML based ones, can help in reducing such an effort by providing common bases for manipulating documents. Still, the overall task consists mainly of writing the application's source code. Model Driven Engineering (MDE) focuses on generating the source code from an exhaustive model of the application. In this paper, we illustrate that MDE technologies can be used to automate the development of authoring application components, but fail in generating the code of graphical components. We present our framework, called Malai, that aims to solve this issue.

International audience; In this paper we present Malai, a model-based user interface development environment. Malai is dedicated to the conception of post-WIMP (Window, Icon, Menu, Pointing device) interactive systems. Malai aims at gathering together principles from Normans action model, instrumental interaction, direct manipulation, the interactor concept and the DPI model (Documents, Presentations, Instruments). It completes works on data manipulation techniques used to link source data to user interfaces. We show how Malai can improve modularity and usability of interactive systems by considering actions, interactions and instruments as reusable first-class objects. Malai has been successfully used for the development of several post-WIMP interactive systems. We introduce each Malai component using the same example: a vector graphics editor.

Software engineering focuses, amongst others, on three development aspects of interactive systems (IS): the link between source data and their target presentations; the conception of the interactive facet; the execution of the same IS on different execution platforms. The evolutions of the web and data, the diversification of execution platforms, and the modern interaction techniques requires a review of the processing of these three aspects. Model-driven engineering (MDE) proposes a solution to the multi-platform execution aspect by grading the conception of IS using different abstraction levels. Our work is based on this principle. Firstly, we defined a mapping language called Malan, dedicated to the link between source data and their target presentations. Malan has the advantages of being: independent of data and HCI platforms ; able to carry out complex calculations for the layout of a target presentation; developed in the data-to-presentation context, contrary to classical transformation languages. Secondly, we developed a conceptual interaction model called Malai, gathering together principles from the major interaction models.

International audience; Malan is a MApping LANguage that allows the generation of transformation programs by specifying a schema mapping between a source and target data schema. By working at the schema level, Malan remains independent of any transformation process; it also naturally guarantees the correctness of the transformation target relative to its schema. Moreover, by expressing schemas as UML class diagrams, Malan schema mappings can be written on top of UML modellers. This paper describes the overall approach by focusing on the Malan language itself, and its use within a transformation process.

Numerous multiple malformation syndromes associated with pathologic overgrowth have been described and, for many, their molecular bases elucidated. This review describes the characteristic features of these overgrowth syndromes, as well as the current understanding of their molecular bases, intellectual outcomes, and cancer predispositions. - Abstract
A short-term warning and integrity-monitoring algorithm for coal mine shaft deformation data analysis, based on the Kalman filter model to extract real global positioning system kinematic deformation information and the cumulative sum test to further improve the reliability of the warning system, is described. A test of a deformation simulation platform indicates that the warning algorithm is useful for steep deformation warning. A field deformation warning analysis experiment conducted at the Malan mine shaft, Shanxi, China showed that the algorithm can detect small dynamic changes and the corresponding occurring time. At given warning thresholds (minimum warning deformation 15 mm; average run length 1 000), the detected deformations of two consecutive day's deformation sequences with the algorithm occur at the 705th and 517th epoch for the first and second day, respectively., A short-term warning and integrity-monitoring algorithm for coal mine shaft deformation data analysis, based on the Kalman filter model to extract real global positioning system kinematic deformation information and the cumulative sum test to further improve the reliability of the warning system, is described.
