Objective: The study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of Bio-Electro-Magnetic-Energy-Regulation (BEMER) magneto-therapy on pain and functional outcome in complex regional pain syndrome type I (CRPS-I). We hypothesized that BEMER therapy, based on its declared effects on microcirculation, could be beneficial in the treatment of this condition. Methods: This was a randomized controlled double-blind pilot study that included 30 patients with CRPS-I. Patients were divided into two groups: a study group, in which the rehabilitation program was combined with BEMER therapy for 10 consecutive days, and a control group, in which the rehabilitation program was combined with a sham BEMER treatment. Outcome measures (Visual Analogic Scale pain; Hand Grip Strength; Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand ; Maryland Foot Score) were taken at the beginning and end of treatment, and at 1 month follow-up. Results: The study demonstrated that the group treated with BEMER combined with rehabilitation yielded better results in the short term, in terms of pain reduction and functional improvement both at the upper and lower limbs. Conclusions: Data from the present pilot study suggest that BEMER therapy can be indicated, in combination with traditional rehabilitation programs, for the treatment of CRPS-I. Purpose: The topic of the present paper concerns the human joint cartilage therapy performed by the magnetic induction field. There is proved the thesis that the applied magnetic field for concrete cartilage illness should depend on the proper relative and concrete values of applied magnetic induction, intensity as well the time of treatment duration. Additionally, very important are frequencies and amplitudes of magnetic field as well as magnetic permeability of the synovial fluid. Material and methods: The research methods used in this paper include: magnetic induction field produced by a new Polish and German magneto electronic devices for the therapy of human joint cartilage diseases, stationary and movable magnetic applicators, magnetic bandage, ferrofluid injections, author's experience gained in Germany research institutes and practical results after measurements and information from patients. Results: The results of this paper concern concrete parameters of time dependent electro-magnetic field administration during the joint cartilage therapy duration and additionally concern the corollaries which are implied from reading values gained on the magnetic induction devices. Conclusions: The main conclusions obtained in this paper are as follows: Time dependent magnetic induction field increases the dynamic viscosity of movable synovial fluid and decreases symptoms of cartilage illness for concrete intensity of magnetic field and concrete field line architecture. The ferrofluid therapy and phospholipids bilayer simultaneously with the administrated external electromagnetic field, increases the dynamic viscosity of movable synovial fluid. Objective: Effectiveness comparison of local and general magneto-therapy for determining differentiated indications in order to prescribe the techniques for early rehabilitation of patients after surgical treatment of breast cancer (BC)., Material and Methods: It was examined 114 women after radical mastectomy for breast cancer. The patients were divided into 3 groups by the method of simple randomization: the control group (37 women) received therapeutic exercises without additional prescription of physiotherapeutic procedures; 1 st main group (38 women) - in addition to exercises a course of local magneto-therapy; 2 nd main group (39 women) - general magneto-therapy. The results were assessed using a visual analogue pain scale, goniometry results, remote infrared thermography, hospital anxiety and depression scale (HADS)., Results: The inclusion of magneto-therapy in the rehabilitation complex reduced local hyperemia and edema in the area of the postoperative suture on the 7 th -8 th day in 73.7 and 76.9% of patients of the 1 st and 2 nd groups, respectively, while in the control group a similar result was observed by 10-14 days. Both methods of magneto-therapy eliminated temperature asymmetry and restored the normal thermographic pattern of the skin surface in the area of the surgical field, reduced the severity of pain, and increased the range of motion in the shoulder joint on the side of the operation. When studying the possibility of eliminating the manifestations of asthenic syndrome a comparison of the two studied methods showed the undoubted advantage of the general exposure to a magnetic field. In addition, it has also caused a statistically significant decrease in indicators of anxiety and depression on the HADS scale, while local exposure to a magnetic field did not have a similar effect., Conclusion: The choice of exposure to a magnetic field at the stage of early rehabilitation of women after surgery for breast cancer is determined by the intensity of the pain syndrome, the degree of activity of aseptic inflammation in the area of the postoperative suture, the level of anxiety and depression, and the severity of asthenic syndrome.

Rheumatic diseases are a major medical and social problem. The mechanisms' variety of these diseases' development requires different approaches: the strategies of drug and non-drug therapy in modern rheumatology are designed to be complemented to each other. The most relevant treatment of rheumatic conditions is the method of pulsed magnetic fields because the sensitivity of biological tissues to them is the highest one., Objective: To evaluate the efficiency and safety of the ALMAG + magnetic therapy device in the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee joints»., Material and Methods: The article presents preliminary data of a double-blind, placebo-controlled study «Evaluation of the efficacy and safety of the ALMAG + magnetic therapy device in the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee joints». The study includes 70 patients (25 men, 45 women) of which 34 (48.6%) are patients with primary osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee joints (OAKS) and 36 (51.4%) are with secondary knee OA (on the background of immunoinflammatory rheumatic diseases). The patients were randomely divided into 2 groups: the main group (active devices) with 34 (48.6%) patients and the control group (placebo devices) - 36 (51.4%) patients. Patients of the main and control groups were comparable in all main parameters. During the study, the patients underwent 3 courses of treatment with the ALMAG + apparatus or with a placebo apparatus during the year. The preliminary analysis includes data on 58 patients who underwent at least 2 courses of therapy (28 patients from the main group and 30 from the control group)., Results: Pain at rest decreased in the main group by 4.0±2.9 mm, in the control group - by 1.07±2.21 mm ( p =0.420), after the second course - by 5.13±3.4 and 1.81±2.19 mm ( p =0.406), respectively. In the main group, the total WOMAC index decreased after the 1st course of physiotherapy from 24.0±14.9 to 20.25±14.31 mm ( p =0.038), after the 2nd course it slightly increased - to 22.96±14.8 mm ( p =0.314), in the control group the WOMAC index did not change statistically significantly: it decreased after the 1st course from 26.3±21.9 to 24.6±20.83 mm ( p =0.112), after the 2nd course it increased to 27.04±21.9 mm ( p =0.088)., Conclusion: Thus, the use of the ALMAG + apparatus at home contributed to a decrease in pain at rest and a significant decrease in the WOMAC index in patients with primary and secondary OA of the knee joints. Pulsed magnetotherapy did not cause adverse events or exacerbation of immunoinflammatory diseases.
