The synthesis of 2-pyridinemethanamido borohydride complexes of yttrium and neodymium was achieved through the in situ deprotonation of the protio-ligand 2-pyridinemethanamine C5H3R1N-C(CH3)R2-NH(2,6-iPr2C6H3), denoted as PyAH (with PyAH1: R1 = R2 = H; PyAH2: R1 = CH3, R2 = H; PyAH3: R1 = C(CH3)＝N-(2,6-iPr2C6H3), R2 = CH3), in the presence of trisborohydride RE(BH4)3(THF)3 (RE = Y and Nd) as a precursor and a base. The isolation of various molecular structures, nine of which were structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis, was achieved and revealed to depend not only on (i) the nature of the 2-pyridinemethanamido ligand and (ii) the rare-earth element but also on (iii) the reaction conditions, notably the type of base used. These include seven mono-substituted species, eventually also comprising the cation derived from the base reagent, such as [(PyA1)Y(BH4)3]2[Mg(THF)6] (1Y), [(PyA1)Nd(BH4)3Mg(PyA1)](THF)4 (1Nd), (PyA1)Nd(BH4)2(THF)2 (1′Nd), [(PyA1)Nd(THF)(BH4)(μ-BH4)]2 (1′′Nd), [(PyA2)Nd(BH4)3]2[Mg(THF)6] (3Nd), (PyA2)Nd(BH4)2(THF)2 (3′Nd) and (PyA3)Nd(BH4)2 (4Nd), as well as two bis-substituted complexes (PyA1)2Y(BH4) (2Y) and (PyA1)2Nd(BH4) (2Nd). On the other hand, the unexpected amido/ene-amido derivative [(PyA(EA))Y(BH4)2][Li(THF)4] (5Y) (PyA(EA): R1 = C＝CH2-N(2,6-iPr2C6H3), R2 = CH3), where the PyAH3 protio-ligand underwent double deprotonation, was recovered from the reaction carried out with nBuLi in the yttrium series. In some cases, the synthesis led to the isolation of borohydride 2-pyridinemethanamido-supported magnesium complexes (PyA2)Mg(BH4)(THF) and (PyA3)Mg(BH4)(THF). In parallel, the PyAH2 pro-ligand could be structurally analyzed, and an unprecedented adduct of the type [KN(SiMe3)2·PyAH1]2 was isolated and characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis. Preliminary investigations of the ring-opening polymerization of L -lactide and ε-caprolactone with some of the complexes synthesized are finally presented, demonstrating moderate to high catalytic activities. Summary: Objectives: The aim of this in-vitro study was to evaluate the effects of antacid gastric syrups on the surface roughness and microhardness of restorative dental materials. Materials and methods: Three different composite resins, nanohybrid, microhybrid and giomer, and four antacid gastric syrups were used in the study. A total of 150 samples were obtained by preparing 50 (10 mm x 2 mm) disk-shaped samples of each composite type. The composites were randomly divided into 5 subgroups and immersed in antacid syrups for 2 min every day for 28 days. The control group samples were kept in distilled water for 28 days. Surface roughness was measured at the beginning, on the 7th, 15th and 28th days using a mechanical profilometer, AFM, and SEM and microhardness was measured using a Vickers device. Shapiro-Wilk, Repeated Measures ANOVA, One-Way ANOVA, Tukey and Games-Howell tests were applied for statistical analysis. Results: After 28 days, the surface roughness of the giomer composite decreased significantly (p < 0.05). The surface roughness of microhybrid and nanohybrid composites increased slightly but not significantly (p > 0.05). Microhardness values of microhybrid and giomer composites showed a significant decrease (p < 0.05). SEM and AFM results were in agreement with the mechanical profilometer findings. Conclusion: Agents such as calcium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate and magnesium carbonate in antacid gastric syrups can affect the surface properties of restorative dental materials. This may adversely affect the longevity and aesthetics of restorations. Various new tris(pyrazolyl)alkanes of the class R′CTp3-R (R′ = Me, Et, nPr, iBu; R = Et, cyPr, Cy, p-tBuPh, Ph; cyPr = cyclopropyl, Cy = cyclohexyl, p-tBuPh = para-tert-butylphenyl) were synthesised and their reactivity towards Mg(AlMe4)2 was examined. Along with new examples of recurring structural motifs, such as separated ion pairs and "metal in a box" complexes, e.g., [(MeCTp3-Et)2Mg][AlMe4]2, several magnesium complexes with new structural features/compositions were obtained. Treatment of the "metal in a box" species [(MeCTp3-R)Mg][AlMe4]2 with THF donor gave the terminal methyl complex [(MeCTp3-cyPr)MgMe(thf)2][AlMe4]. Variation of the backbone alkyl substituent R′ in the tris(pyrazolyl)alkane R′CTp3-Ph gave ionic liquids (R′ = Et, nPr) and the methyl-bridged dimagnesium complex [({iBuCTp3-Ph}Mg{AlMe4})2(μ-Me)][AlMe4]. The bulky Cy and p-tBuPh moieties at the pyrazolyl 3 position gave the new structural motif [MeCTp3-RMg(ηn-AlMe4)][AlMe4] (η3, R = Cy; η2, R = p-tBuPh), stabilising a "[Mg(AlMe4)]+" entity. The AlMe3 group can be reversibly displaced under reduced pressure affording the new separated ion pair [(MeCTp3-p-tBuPh)MgMe][AlMe4] with a terminal "[MgMe]+" moiety. Moderate thermal treatment of both [(MeCTp3-p-tBuPh)MgMe][AlMe4] and [(MeCTp3-p-tBuPh)Mg(η2-AlMe4)][AlMe4] resulted in selective C–H-bond activation in the 5 position of one of the pyrazolyl moieties and the formation of an AlMe3-modified anionic tris(pyrazolyl)alkane and hence the neutral complex [MeC(pz3-p-tBuPh)2(pz3-p-tBuPh,5-AlMe3)]MgMe. The 1,1-azoliumdithiocarboxylate cAACMe-CS2 (1a) was prepared and its redox chemistry was evaluated and compared to NHC based dithiocarboxylates IDipp-CS2 (1b) and IMes-CS2 (1c). A fluorenyl amido constrained geometry magnesium complex is described, which was obtained by deprotonation of the corresponding neutral ligand system with dibutyl magnesium. For a feasible optimization of its hydrogenation conditions, the interaction of mixtures of 200-micron commercial Mg powders with 10–50 wt % of the intermetallic compound ZrV2 with high-purity hydrogen under a pressure of 3 MPa in the temperature range of 350–390°C was studied. The effect of the activating additive of the intermetallic compound in an amount of 20 wt % on the Mg hydrogenation process was ascertained: at 370–380°C, magnesium is hydrogenated by 95% in a mixture with the hydride of the intermetallic compound and the product contains about 6.4 wt % in total of high-purity hydrogen (99.999 wt %) released at 380–450°C. Magnesium alloy is known as “the green engineering material of the 21st century” for its advantages such as low density, high specific strength and stiffness, good damping properties and biocompatibility. Compared with other materials, magnesium alloys are sensitive to thermal process, so it is difficult to manufacture the parts with complex structures by traditional forming process. Metal additive manufacturing technology is the most promising manufacturing technology in the future for manufacturing flexibility. The use of additive manufacturing to prepare complex shaped magnesium alloy topology optimized structural components can achieve the ultimate light weighting effect of both material and structure light weighting, and has broad application prospects in aerospace, defense, and military industries. Magnesium (Mg) is an essential element involved in cellular metabolism. We demonstrated that in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) undergoing autologous stem cell transplant (SCT), those with a serum Mg < 2.0 mg/dL at the time of transplant had worse outcomes. In this study, we aimed to learn the prognostic value of low serum Mg in patients with untreated DLBCL. We analyzed serum from 408 patients and tested 2 Mg cutpoints—low (<1.7 mg/dL) and low normal (<2.0 mg/dL), a range we found associated with lower survival in the SCT group. We found 3% of patients with low levels and 23% with low normal levels. Low normal serum Mg levels were associated with a higher stage at diagnosis, more extranodal involvement, higher international prognostic index score, lower overall survival (OS), and event-free survival. The bis‐guanidinate anion stabilized amido magnesium (II) compound [LMgN(SiMe3)2; L={(ArHN)(ArN)−C=N−C=(NAr)(NHAr); Ar=2,6‐Et2−C6H3}] (Mg‐1) has been synthesized and characterized. It has been successfully employed as a pre‐catalyst for the catalytic C−C coupling of terminal alkynes with carbodiimides, producing propiolamidine products with moderate to good yields. The active catalyst bis‐guanidinate magnesium acetylide [LMgC≡C−Ph]2 (Mg‐2) and the intermediate magnesium propiolamidinate [LMg{(NiPr)2C}C≡C−Ph] (Mg‐3) involved in the catalytic reaction were isolated and thoroughly characterized through multinuclear NMR and mass spectral analyses, as well as single crystal X‐ray diffraction studies. Based on the above findings, a plausible mechanistic cycle has been proposed. Magnesium chloride is a magnesium resource that is widely present in seawater and salt lakes. Therefore, the use of magnesium chloride is of great significance for the low-cost preparation of high-performance magnesium materials. In this work, mechanical ball milling was used for the preparation of magnesium oxide nanoparticles from magnesium chloride. Ball milling improves the unevenness of the reaction process and generates magnesium oxide with a more uniform particle size distribution. First, a magnesium chloride complex was obtained by heating and evaporating a mixture of magnesium chloride and ethanol with a mass ratio of 1:2 at 110 °C. Next, pure magnesium hydroxide with a smaller crystal size was obtained by ball milling the prepared magnesium chloride complex with calcium hydroxide at 600 rpm for 3 h. Alcohols can be produced by nucleophilic addition at the C=O functional group of ketones or aldehydes. Such C−C bond formations generally proceed smoothly and selective. In contrast, nucleophilic addition at carbon monoxide is considerably more complex and unselective due to the instability of polar metal acyl intermediates. Herein, we report a magnesium alkyl complex, stabilised with a dipyrromethenide ligand, and its reactivity with CO2 and CO. Whilst the reaction with CO2 gave the expected carboxylate, reaction with CO took a surprising course, resulting in an alkoxide by formation of three new C−C bonds in a single reaction. New complexes of magnesium with asymmetric fluorinated β-diketones are synthesized: pentafluoropropionyl (Hpfpac, 6,6,6,5,5-pentafluorohexane-2,4-dione) and heptafluorobutyrylacetone (Hhfbac, 7,7,7,6,6,5,5-heptafluoroheptane-2,4-dione). The [Mg(H2O)(EtOH)(pfpac)2] 1 and [Mg(H2O)2(hfbac)2]·H2O 2 phases are characterized by a number of methods. The structures of crystals of 1, 2, and [Mg(EtOH)2(hfbac)2] 3 are determined by the single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Magnesium atoms have a distorted octahedral environment, and neutral ligands are in the trans-position. Molecules are involved in systems of OH⋯Odik hydrogen bonds, forming layers (2) or chains (1, 3). A relative evaluation shows that 2 is more volatile than 1. Structures of molecules and packing characters are compared with those of a series of related β-diketonate complexes. Magnesium is involved in many essential functions in the body, with a deficiency leading to possible cardiological, metabolic, neurological and rheumatological diseases, among others. The results of studies on the relationships between the occurrence of these diseases and magnesium deficiency helped identify the groups of patients who could benefit from this element. Considering the high frequency of patients using community pharmacy services, pharmacists present a group of medical professionals that can readily diagnose a potential magnesium deficiency in a relatively easy manner and can recommend supplementation in the diet or magnesium deficiency treatment with medicinal products when there are symptoms. For this reason, the objective of this article is to suggest procedures that can be used to identify patients particularly susceptible to magnesium deficiency. The second objective is to create Figures for the management of patients suffering from disorders that, in accordance with current knowledge, are associated with magnesium deficiency. In this context, guidelines were developed to help identify magnesium deficiency in patients with type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, migraines, fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety states or hypertension. Appropriate supplementation with magnesium and magnesium deficiency treatment in the indicated target groups can largely minimize the symptoms of the diseases and increase patient wellbeing. Here we describe the synthesis of the well‐defined fulleride complex [{(Mesnacnac)Mg}6C70], 2, (Mesnacnac)=HC(MeCNMes)2, Mes=2,4,6‐Me3C6H2, from the reaction of the β‐diketiminate magnesium(I) complex [{(Mesnacnac)Mg}2] with C70 in aromatic solvents. The molecular structure of complex 2 was determined, providing the first high‐quality structural study of a complex with the C706− ion. The catalytic activity of low‐valent transition metals for the cyclotrimerization of nitriles has rarely been investigated to date. Here, we report on the cyclotrimerization of benzonitrile (PhCN) and its derivatives using catalytic systems composed of magnesium and bis(indolyl)TiCl2 (bis(indolyl)=di(3‐methylindol‐2‐yl)phenylmethane), Cp2TiCl2 (Cp=η5‐C5H5), (CGC)TiCl2 (CGC=Me2Si(Me4C5)(tBuN)), TiCl4(thf)2 (thf=tetrahydrofuran), Cp*TiCl3 (Cp*=η5‐Me5C5), or CpTiCl3, which can be expected to generate coordinatively unsaturated Ti(II) complexes as the catalytically active species. All the investigated catalytic systems were active for the cyclotrimerization of PhCN. Notably, even the simple catalytic precursor (TiCl4(thf)2) mediated the cyclotrimerization of PhCN as well as p‐ and m‐tolunitriles. Moreover, these reactions can be carried out on the gram scale and the cyclotrimerized products can be isolated via recrystallization of the reaction mixture from hot toluene. The findings of this study suggest that low‐valent titanium species have the potential to serve as catalysts for the cyclotrimerization of PhCN and its derivatives. During this study, we also found that 2,4,6‐tri(p‐tolyl)‐1,3,5‐triazine, which is obtained from the cyclotrimerization of p‐tolunitrile, exhibits fluorescent properties in both the solid state and in solution. The formation of intermetallic compounds (IMCs) is a primary factor that affects the welding joint between dissimilar materials. In this study, experiments were performed using Al/Mg friction stir welding (FSW) and ultrasonic vibration enhanced FSW (UVeFSW) with varying thicknesses of Sn interlayer. Detailed characterization and tests were conducted to explore the effect of Sn interlayer with or without ultrasonic vibration on weld surface morphology, macro-micro structure, generation of IMCs, and joint tensile strength. The study discusses the effect of ultrasonic vibration coupled with Sn interlayer and provides ideas for IMCs regulation when joining dissimilar materials. The study showed that adding a Sn interlayer cannot eliminate the generation of Al-Mg IMCs, but it can significantly reduce their thickness. Applying ultrasonic vibration with Sn interlayer can further reduce the thickness of Al-Mg IMCs and improve the interface microstructure from 'IMC + matrix +IMC + matrix' multilayer structures to simple IMCs structures. Furthermore, the highest joint strength was achieved when the Sn interlayer thickness was 0.1 mm during FSW. UVeFSW's joint strength can be further improved with 0.05 mm and 0.1 mm Sn interlayer. In this work, we reported that the well‐defined Mg‐Ni‐Mg complex [(LMg)2Ni(C2H4)2] {L = [(DippNCMe)2CH]−, Dipp = 2,6‐iPr2C6H3} was capable of catalyzing the conversion of a diverse array of terminal alkenes to hydrosilylated products in anti‐Markovnikov fashion using PhSiH3 as the silicon source. The stoichiometric reaction of heterometallic Mg‐Ni‐Mg complex with one equivalent PhSiH3 obtained a silyl‐nickel‐monohydride complex [(LMg)2NiH(C2H4)(SiHPhEt)] featuring a Ni‐Si‐H‐Mg interaction. Moreover, treatment of heterometallic Mg‐Ni‐Mg complex with three equivalents PhSiH3 provided the silyl‐nickel‐trihydride complex [(LMg)2NiH3(SiHPhEt)] with three hydride‐bridged at Mg‐Ni‐Mg fragment. Further reactions of the resultant silyl‐nickel complexes with alkenes, e.g., ethylene and styrene, yielded the corresponding alkene‐coordinated Mg‐Ni‐Mg complexes [(LMg)2Ni(C2H4)2], [(LMg)2NiH2(C2H4)] and [(LMg)2NiH2(CH2CHPh)], respectively, with the elimination of PhEtSiH2. Aluminum and magnesium were welded by friction stir welding while Zinc was used as interlayer and Titanium carbide nanoparticles were applied as reinforcement. The microstructure examination and phase constitution of interfacial zones showed that the base materials reaction successfully proceeded. The changes in heat input and stir action had a very significant effect on microstructural development, the distribution of nanoparticles, wettability at the interface, and intermetallic compound formation (Al3Mg2 and Al12Mg17). Aluminum solid solution, MgZn2, Magnesium/Aluminum/Zinc Intermetallic Compounds and Magnesium were the much important Compounds in the nugget zone. The best joint with the highest tensile strength and elongation percentage of 182 MPa and 1.5%, respectively, was made at transverse speed of 45 mm/min and rotation speed of 750 rpm with presence of Titanium carbide particles and Zinc interlayer material. The reaction of a sterically shielded Mg hydride complex, bearing a bulky β‐diketiminato (BDI) ligand, with CO2 leads to the formation of polynuclear complexes. CO2 not only inserts into the metal hydride bond yielding formate ions, but also adds onto the γ‐C of the BDI ligand. This reactivity gives rise to the formation of soluble tri‐ and tetranuclear structures in THF, leading to a hexameric structure associated with a change in the coordination mode of the BDI ligand at 60 °C in THF within four days. The insoluble hexameric complex was isolated in high reproducible yield from the solution and characterized by X‐ray diffraction analysis. The reaction affording the hexameric complex was shown to be completed within 1 h at room temperature in toluene. Herein, simple battery configurations utilizing 100% sulfur are proposed on nine collectors and a low‐cost phenolate‐based magnesium complex (PMC) electrolyte to address these problems. Comprehensive studies indicate that the Cu collector is the most conducive to improving battery performance, not only facilitating the generation of magnesium sulfides during discharging but also effectively dissociating Mg─S bonds during charging. Moreover, Cu surfaces can effectively adsorb magnesium polysulfides (MgSx) and induce an insulator‐to‐metal transition of MgS, leading to a more effective suppression of the shuttle effect and the transfer of electrons. MXene interlayers are further introduced between electrodes to inhibit MgSx shuttling and enhance the interfacial electronic conductivity, as reflected by the reinforced high discharge voltage plateau at ≈1.7 V and stable long discharge voltage plateau at ≈1.2 V. The assembled MSBs exhibit the highest reported capacity of 1260 mAh g−1S and an energy density of 1230 Wh kg−1S with a cycle life of over 1000 cycles. The use of alkaline earth‐abundant metal catalysts as alternatives to transition metal catalysts in the depolymerization of plastic waste is a very important research area. In this work, the first method is described for the conversion of polyesters into value‐added compounds catalyzed by a magnesium catalyst. It is demonstrated that the commercially available, inexpensive and air‐stable, alkaline earth magnesium catalyst Mg(OTf)2 efficiently promotes the reductive depolymerization of several polyesters using pinacolborane (HBpin) as the reducing agent with good to excellent yields. This catalyst also remains very active in at least 12 consecutive polycaprolactone (PCL) reductive depolymerization reactions with yields between 89% and 81%. This magnesium catalyst is also efficient in the reductive depolymerization of the polycarbonate poly(bisphenol A carbonate) (PC.BPA). A series of new pyrazolate and mixed pyrazolate/pyrazole magnesium complexes is described and their reactivity toward carbon dioxide is examined. The dimeric complex [Mg(pztBu,tBu)2]2 inserts CO2 instantly and quantitatively forming the tetrameric complex [Mg(CO2·pztBu,tBu)2]4 and monomeric donor‐stabilized [Mg(CO2·pztBu,tBu)2(thf)2]. Complexes of the type [Mgx(pzR,R)2x(HpzR,R)y]n (R = iPr, tBu) engage in similar insertion reactions involving dissociation of the carbamic acid HOOCpzR,R. Even solid polymeric derivatives [Mg(pzR,R)2]n (R = Me, H) react instantaneously and exhaustively with CO2, the resulting [Mg(CO2·pz)2]m featuring a CO2 capacity of 35.7 wt% (8.2 mmol g−1). All described magnesium pyrazolates display completely reversible CO2 uptake in solution and in the solid state, respectively, as monitored via VT 1H NMR and in situ FTIR spectroscopy as well as thermogravimetric analysis. Fluorinated [Mg2(pzCF3,CF3)4(thf)3] does not yield any isolable CO2 insertion product but exhibits the highest activity in the catalytic transformation of epoxides and CO2 to cyclic carbonates. Purpose: To elucidate the status of medication use among pregnant women in Japan, by means of a multigenerational genome and birth cohort study: the Tohoku Medical Megabank Project Birth and Three-Generation Cohort Study (TMM BirThree Cohort Study). Methods: Questionnaires were distributed to pregnant women participating in the TMM BirThree Cohort Study (from July 2013 to March 2017) around 12 weeks (early pregnancy) and 26 weeks (middle pregnancy). We analysed medication use over three periods: (1) 12 months prior to pregnancy diagnosis, (2) the period between pregnancy diagnosis and around week 12 of pregnancy, and (3) post around week 12 of pregnancy. Results: In total, 19,297 women were included in the analysis. The proportion of pregnant women using medications was 49.0% prior to pregnancy diagnosis, 52.1% from diagnosis to week 12, and 58.4% post week 12 of pregnancy. The most frequently prescribed medications were loxoprofen sodium hydrate (5.5%) prior to pregnancy diagnosis, magnesium oxide (5.9%) from diagnosis to week 12, and ritodrine hydrochloride (10.5%) post week 12 of pregnancy. The number of women who used suspected teratogenic medications during early pregnancy was 96 prior to pregnancy diagnosis, 48 from diagnosis to week 12, and 54 post week 12 of pregnancy. Conclusion: We found that ~ 50% of the pregnant women used medications before and during pregnancy and some took potential teratogenic medications during pregnancy. A sterically encumbered dinuclear amidinato magnesium hydride 3 with bridging hydrido ligands was synthesized from the metalation of the corresponding amidine 1 with dibutylmagnesium and subsequent treatment with phenylsilane. This complex reacts stoichiometrically with 1 atm of carbon dioxide at room temperature in tetrahydrofuran (THF) to the corresponding bis(thf) adduct of the dinuclear formate complex 4‐2 thf with bridging formate anions. This complex is stable in THF at 60 °C for more than 16 hours but decomposes into the amidine 1 upon removal of ligated thf ligands. Complex 3 efficiently catalyzes the reduction of carbon dioxide with 9‐BBN, yielding bis(boryl)acetal (R2BO)2CH2, and with silanes H4‐nSiPhn (n=1, 2, and 3). The bis(silyl)acetal is quantitatively accessible for Ph3SiH (n=3) whereas during the reduction of CO2 with hydrogen‐richer silanes (n=1, 2) siloxanes form and methane evolves. Two‐dimensional (2D) cell culture is an important tool in the discovery of skin‐active agents. Fibroblasts and keratinocytes, more rarely fibroblast–keratinocyte cocultures, are usually used for that purpose, where test compounds are added by mixing with the overlaying growth medium. However, such an approach is suboptimal because it lacks the stratum corneum component. The stratum corneum acts as a selective gatekeeper and opposes the intradermal permeation of many compounds that are bioactive when placed in direct contact with cells. One solution is to use reconstituted epidermis, but this approach is costly and time consuming. Here, a model is proposed, where the simplicity and convenience of the 2D cell culture is combined with the advantage of a hydrophobic barrier reminiscent of the skin horny layer. This model was tested with skin‐relevant solvents, as well as with "naked" hydrophilic and encapsulated compounds. Cell viability and collagen stimulation were used as readouts. The results showed that the incorporation of a stratum corneum–substitute barrier on top of a 2D cell culture reduced the cytotoxicity of a common cosmetic solvent, dimethyl isosorbide (DMI), in cell culture and modified the bioactivity of the added actives (magnesium ascorbyl phosphate [MAP] and oligomeric proanthocyanidins [OPCs]/levan biopolymer), which became dependent on their ability to penetrate through a lipidic layer. Taken together, these results indicate a better physiological relevance of this cell culture model in workflows aimed at the discovery and analysis of skin‐active compounds than conventional 2D systems. In this contribution, we present "Birch‐type", and other reductions of simple arenes by the potassium salt of an anionic magnesium dinitrogen complex, [{K(TCHPNON)Mg}2(μ‐N2)] (TCHPNON=4,5‐bis(2,4,6‐tricyclohexylanilido)‐2,7‐diethyl‐9,9‐dimethyl‐xanthene), which acts as a masked dimagnesium(I) diradical in these reactions. This reagent is non‐hazardous, easy‐to‐handle, and in some cases provides access to 1,4‐cyclohexadiene reduction products under relatively mild reaction conditions. This system works effectively to reduce benzene, naphthalene and anthracene through magnesium‐bound "Birch‐type" reduction intermediates. Cyclohexadiene products can be subsequently released from the magnesium centres by protonolysis with methanol. In contrast, the reduction of substituted arenes is less selective and involves competing reaction pathways. For toluene and 1,3,5‐triphenylbenzene, the structural authentication of "Birch‐type" reduction intermediates is conclusive, although the formation of corresponding 1,4‐cyclohexadiene derivatives was low yielding. Reduction of anisole did not yield an isolable "Birch‐type" intermediate, but instead gave a C−O activation product. Treating triphenylphosphine with [{K(TCHPNON)Mg}2(μ‐N2)] resulted in the extrusion of both biphenyl and dinitrogen to afford a magnesium(II) phosphanide [{K(TCHPNON)Mg(μ‐PPh2)}2]. Reduction of fluorobenzene proceeded via C−F activation of the arene, and isolation of the magnesium(II) fluoride [{K(TCHPNON)Mg(μ‐F)}2]. Finally, the two‐electron reduction of 1,3,5,7‐cyclooctatetraene (COT) with [{K(TCHPNON)Mg}2(μ‐N2)] yielded a complex, [{K(TCHPNON)Mg}2(μ‐COT)], incorporating the aromatic dianion (COT2−). The crystal structures of the U3Si2-related intermetallic compounds RE2Pd2Cd (RE = Nd, Sm, Gd, Dy) and RE2Ga2Mg (RE = Tb, Er, Tm, Lu) were studied from single crystal X-ray diffraction data at T = 90 K in order to understand the slightly enhanced U33 displacements of the 2a positions in their room temperature structures. The compounds Sm2Pd2Cd, Gd2Pd2Cd and Dy2Pd2Cd show a decrease of the ratio of U33 to U11 for the cadmium atoms, leading to a more isotropic behavior at low temperature, keeping the P4/mbm space group symmetry. Nd2Pd2Cd shows a translationengleiche symmetry reduction to space group P4bm along with a weak puckering effect with shorter (342.7 pm) and longer (345.7 pm) Cd–Nd distances within the Cd@Nd8 square prisms. This new, non-centrosymmetric superstructure variant was also observed for the magnesium compounds Tb2Ga2.069Mg0.931, Er2Ga2.104Mg0.896, Tm2Ga2.097Mg0.903 and Lu2Ga2.173Mg0.827, which show small degrees of Mg/Ga mixing. Solvothermal reaction of magnesium nitrate and boron oxide in N,N-dimethylformamide produced a number of particularly complex supramolecular magnesium borates. Five topologically different types of negatively charged {Mg@[B18ϕ34–35]}-clusters, ϕ = O, OH, were observed with the magnesium cation as a core and octadecaborate anions as shells. The clusters assemble via common borate polyhedra forming 1D chains, a 2D mesoporous layer, and 3D mesoporous frameworks with an effective channel width of up to 16 Å. Topological analysis of the clusters in combination with the modular crystallography approach indicates that numerous new functional materials can be obtained by varying their assembly mode. At present, amorphous boron powder is considered to be the best fuel for solid fuel-rich propellants due to its extremely high volume calorific value and mass calorific value. Amorphous boron powder produced by magnesium thermal reduction contains many impurities that are insoluble in acids as well as defects such as low purity, excessive particle size, and poor chemical activity, which seriously hinder its large-scale application in the military and aerospace fields. In this paper, the soluble transformation mechanism of insoluble boron magnesium compounds into amorphous boron powder during calcination and a method for purification boron powder were studied. In order to remove insoluble boron magnesium compounds in amorphous boron powder, the insoluble impurities Mg5B2O5 and MgB4 were converted into soluble MgB4O7 and MgO during calcination. The samples were then subjected to either water leaching or acid leaching to convert the crude amorphous boron powder products into high-purity amorphous boron powder products. SEM-EDS, XRD, XPS, and other techniques were used to determine the occurrence states of the impurity phases. The transformation of impurity phases after calcining water leaching and acid leaching was monitored. The results showed that the magnesium content in the amorphous boron powder was reduced to 0.96%, and the purity of the boron powder was increased to 97.34% by subjecting the amorphous boron powder to a combined calcination technique and either water leaching or acid leaching treatment. Silicon nitride (Si3N4) ceramics using four compound sintering aids Er2O3–MgO, Er2O3–MgF3, Er2O3–Mg2Si, and Er2O3–Mg3N2. The effects of binary sintering aid types and temperatures on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and thermal conductivity of Si3N4 ceramics were investigated. The depolymerization effect of fluorine atoms introduced by MgF2 sintering additives on the silicate melt structure reduced the viscosity of the liquid phase. However, the existence of volatile phase leads to low density of Si3N4 ceramics. While the additional Si and N atoms increase the concentration of solute atoms, which was conducive to sintering densification of Si3N4 ceramics. Although Mg2Si and Mg3N2 sintering aids produced higher viscosity liquid phase compared with MgF2, denser Si3N4 ceramics were obtained at 1900°C. The Si3N4 ceramics doped with 5 mol% Er2O3 and 2 mol% Mg3N2 at 1900°C showed the excellent properties: including the highest Vickers hardness (16.8 GPa), flexural strength (912 MPa), and fracture toughness (8.1 MPa m1/2), as well as the desirable thermal conductivity (83 W/(m K)). The present prospective cohort study aimed to determine whether dietary antioxidants were associated with incident type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Another objective was to find out whether such associations could be modified by the BMI status. A total of 2188 Tehranian adults aged 21–84 years, free of T2DM with the validated FFQ, was entered in the study. Multivariable Cox proportional hazards models adjusting for confounders were used to assess the association between dietary antioxidants and incident T2DM in total population, as well as in subjects with various BMI statuses. During 8·9 (8·1–9·6) years of follow-up, dietary vitamin E significantly decreased the incident T2DM, after adjustment for confounders. However, other dietary antioxidants were not shown to be significantly associated with incident T2DM. The interaction between dietary vitamin E, Mg and BMI status was found to influence the risk of T2DM (P for interaction < 0·05). After stratification of subjects based on BMI status, it was found that vitamin E and Mg decreased the risk of T2DM only among normal-weight individual. Also, an inverse association was found among dietary vitamin C, dietary Zn and the risk of T2DM in individuals with normal weight but not in overweight and obese individuals; however, the interaction test tended to be significant for these dietary variables. Reaction of a series of HFCs with a main group reagent containing a Mg–Mg bond results in defluorination to form the corresponding magnesium fluoride complex. In the case of 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (HFC-134a) generation of the fluoride occurs alongside selective formation of 1,1-difluoroethene. The β-diketiminato calcium and magnesium complexes, [(BDI)MgnBu] and [(BDI)CaH]2 (BDI = HC{C(Me)NDipp}2; Dipp = 2,6-di-isopropylphenyl), react with ortho-carborane (o-C2B10H12) to provide the respective [(BDI)Ae(o-C2B10H11)] (Ae = Mg or Ca) complexes. While the lighter group 2 species is a monomer with magnesium in a distorted trigonal planar environment, the heavier analogue displays a puckered geometry at calcium in the solid state due to Ca⋯H–B intermolecular interactions. These secondary contacts are, however, readily disrupted upon addition of THF to provide the 4-coordinate monomer, [(BDI)Ca(THF)(o-C2B10H11)]. Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the female population because of the resistance of cancer cells to many anticancer drugs used. Curcumin has cytotoxic activities against breast cancer cells, although it has limited use due to its poor bioavailability and rapid metabolic elimination. The synthesis of metal complexes of curcumin and curcuminoids is a relevant topic in the search for more active and selective derivatives of these molecular scaffolds. However, solubility and bioavailability are concomitant disadvantages of these types of molecules. To overcome such drawbacks, the preparation of inclusion complexes offers a chemical and pharmacologically safe option for improving the aqueous solubility of organic molecules. Herein, we describe the preparation of the inclusion complex of dimethoxycurcumin magnesium complex (DiMeOC-Mg, (4)) with beta-cyclodextrin (DiMeOC-Mg-BCD, (5)) in the stoichiometric relationship 1:1. This new inclusion complex's solubility in aqueous media phosphate buffer saline (PBS) was improved by a factor of 6x over the free metal complex (4). Furthermore, 5 affects cell metabolic rate, cell morphology, cell migration, induced apoptosis, and downregulation of the matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and signal transducer and activator of transcription-3 (STAT3) expression levels on MD Anderson metastasis breast-231 cancer (MDA-MB-231) cell lines. Results of an antitumor assay in an in ovo model showed up to 30% inhibition of tumor growth for breast cancer (MDA-MB-231) when using (5) (0.650 mg/kg dose) and 17.29% inhibition with the free homoleptic metal complex (1.5 mg/kg dose, (4)). While the formulation of inclusion complexes from metal complexes of curcuminoids demonstrates its usefulness in improving the solubility and bioavailability of these metallodrugs, the new compound (5) exhibits excellent potential for use as a therapeutic agent in the battle against breast cancer. Addition of CO to a tetrametallic magnesium hydride cluster results in both carbon‐carbon bond formation and deoxygenation to generate an acetaldehyde enolate [C2OH3]− which remains coordinated to the cluster. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first example of formation of an isolable complex containing an [C2OH3]− fragment from reaction of CO with a metal hydride, and the first example of CO homologation and deoxygenation at a main group metal. DFT studies suggest that key steps in the mechanism involve nucleophilic attack of an oxymethylene on a formyl ligand to generate an unstable [C2O2H3]3− fragment, which undergoes subsequent deoxygenation. Amino imidazoline‐2‐imines (AmIm) are a new class of chelating, monoanionic N,N'‐donor ligands stronger than the analogous β‐diketiminate ligands and give rise to five‐membered metallacycles. The coordination chemistry of the monoanionic ligands 1,2‐NHC=N−C6H4−NDipp− (i), cis‐1,2‐NHC=N−CMe=CMe−NDipp− (ii) was towards magnesium was investigated with the focus on the stabilization of low‐valent magnesium(I) species, NHC=cyclo‐C(NiPr2CMe)2, Dipp=2,6‐iPrC6H3. Both ligand systems (i) and (ii) form heteroleptic magnesium iodide species with were subjected to reduction. The complex [Mg(1,2‐NHC=N−C6H4−NDipp)]2 was found to be insoluble, which prevented further purification. In contrast, the yield of the analogous complex [Mg(cis‐1,2‐NHC=N−CMe=CMe−NDipp)]2 was very low. The article suggests ways of absorbing magnesium transdermally which is ideal for those who cannot tolerate the oral supplements of magnesium. Cited are the greater benefits of magnesium chloride compared to magnesium sulphate, the safety and effectiveness of the delivery of large amounts of magnesium via the skin, and bathing as the gentlest way to absorb magnesium transdermally.

The magnesium borohydride complexes with ammonia, Mg(BH4)2•2NH3 (MA-2) and Mg(BH4)2•3NH3 (MA-3), were obtained in a single crystal form and their structures were determined by the X-ray diffraction analysis. According to the powder X-ray diffraction and IR spectroscopy results, the data in some published works, where the MA-3 was positioned as an individual compound, were shown to contain additional reflections that are in good agreement with those for Mg(BH4)2•6NH3 (MA-6). The study of the thermolysis process of the individual MA-3 by DSC-TGA-MS showed that the heating of the triammine to a temperature of 600 °C leads to the release of ammonia and hydrogen in a molar ratio H2: NH3 = 8: 1, with a total yield of H2 reaching 12 wt.%. Background: Freezing is a crucial technique in reproductive science utilized for the preservation of sperm samples. However, the process of freezing and thawing sperm can result in detrimental effects on sperm quality. One of the major mechanisms underlying this decline in sperm quality is the generation of reactive oxygen species during the freeze process. The purpose of the current study was to investigate the effects of magnesium oxide nanoparticles on frozen sperm parameters. Methods: Semen samples were collected from 8 fertile men, aged 30 to 42 years, with normozoospermia, following 3 to 5 days of abstinence. The samples were divided into fresh (n=3), freeze (n=3), and control (n=2) groups. Three fresh experimental groups were only exposed to MgO NPs with concentrations of 5, 25, and 50 μg/ml and three freezing experimental groups were frozen after being treated with MgO NPs, thawed, and analyzed after 30 min. Results: Our findings revealed that the progressive movement and vitality of sperm experienced a significant decline, while non-progressive and immotile sperm showed a notable increase in both fresh and frozen experimental groups exposed to MgO NPs. However, the application of MgO NPs during fresh and freezing processes demonstrated an effective preservation of pH, morphology, and DNA fragmentation in sperm cells. Conclusion: The analysis revealed that MgO NPs negatively impact sperm motility and viability in both fresh and freeze analysis. • A transfer learning model is designed to predict critical temperatures. • Critical temperatures for ∼19k magnesium based compounds are predicted. • DFT calculations are performed to validate the predicted results. • Virtual compounds are designed to show the ability to predict new superconductors. This study presents a transfer learning approach for discovering potential Mg-based superconductors utilizing a comprehensive target dataset. Initially, a large source dataset (Bandgap dataset) comprising approximately ∼75k compounds is utilized for pretraining, followed by fine-tuning with a smaller Critical Temperature (T c) dataset containing ∼300 compounds. Comparatively, there is a significant improvement in the performance of the transfer learning model over the traditional deep learning (DL) model in predicting T c. Subsequently, the transfer learning model is applied to predict the properties of approximately 150k compounds. Predictions are validated computationally using density functional theory (DFT) calculations based on lattice dynamics-related theory. Moreover, to demonstrate the extended predictive capability of the transfer learning model for new materials, a pool of virtual compounds derived from prototype crystal structures from the Materials Project (MP) database is generated. T c predictions are obtained for ∼3600 virtual compounds, which underwent screening for electroneutrality and thermodynamic stability. An Extra Trees-based model is trained to utilize E hull values to obtain thermodynamically stable materials, employing a dataset containing E hull values for approximately 150k materials for training. Materials with E hull values exceeding 5 meV/atom were filtered out, resulting in a refined list of potential Mg-based superconductors. This study showcases the effectiveness of transfer learning in predicting superconducting properties and highlights its potential for accelerating the discovery of Mg-based materials in the field of superconductivity. We demonstrate the application of chiral magnesium complexes in an asymmetric carbon‐sulfur bond‐forming reaction. Enantioselective and cost‐effective methodology under mild condition for the thia‐Michael addition, utilizing an in situ generated chiral dinuclear magnesium‐ProPhenol complex, has been developed. The versatility of this protocol is demonstrated with a broad range of thiol nucleophiles and a wide selection of enones. Enantioenriched β‐ketosulfides are obtained in good to excellent yields and moderate to excellent enantioselectivity. The presented catalytic system exhibits excellent tolerance for structurally different substrates while maintaining high enantioselectivity. Reaction of the 1,2‐disilylenes {(DipArAm)Si}2 (DipArAm=[(NDip)2CAr]−, Dip=2,6‐diisopropylphenyl, Ar=4‐C6H4But (Ar') 1 a or Ph 1 b) and two abnormal N‐heterocyclic silylenes, (DipArAm)SiOCSi{(NDip)2CAr} (Ar=Ar' 3 a or Ph 3 b) with N2O led to formation of unprecedented examples of uncoordinated silicon analogues of carboxylic acid anhydrides, (DipArAm)(O=)SiOSi(=O)(DipArAm) (Ar=Ar' 2 a or Ph 2 b). Both compounds have been fully characterized, and the mechanism of formation of one explored using DFT calculations. Reduction of sila‐acid anhydride 2 a with a dimagnesium(I) compound, [{(MesNacnac)Mg}2] (MesNacnac=[(MesNCMe)2CH]−, Mes=mesityl), led to the one‐electron reduction of the anhydride and formation of a magnesium complex of a sila‐acid anhydride radical anion [(MesNacnac)Mg{(OSi(DipAr'Am)}2O] 5. A combination of EPR spectroscopic studies and DFT calculations reveal the unpaired electron to largely reside on one of the amidinate ligands of the complex. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
