Abstract

We have studied nuclear structure and reaction properties of Ne, Mg and Si isotopes, using relativistic mean field (RMF) densities, in the framework of Glauber model. Total reaction cross-section sR for Ne isotopes on 12C target have been calculated at incident energy 240 MeV. The results are compared with the experimental data and with the recent theoretical study [W. Horiuchi et al., Phys. Rev. C86, 024614 (2012)]. Study of sR using deformed densities have shown a good agreement with the data. We have also predicted total reaction cross-section sR for Ne, Mg and Si isotopes as projectiles and 12C as target at different incident energies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

In 129 Xe+ nat Sn central collisions from 8 to 25 MeV/A, the three-fragment exit channel occurs with a significant cross section. We show that these fragments arise from two successive binary splittings of a heavy composite system. The sequence of fragment production is determined. Strong Coulomb proximity effects are observed in the three-fragment final state. A comparison with Coulomb trajec-tory calculations shows that the time scale between the consecutive break-ups decreases with increasing bombarding energy, becoming quasi-simultaneous above excitation energy E * = 4.0$\pm$0.5 MeV/A. This transition from sequential to simultaneous break-up was interpreted as the signature of the onset of multifragmentation for the three-fragment exit channel in this system., Comment: 12 pages; 13 Figures; 4 Table; Accepted for publication in Physical Review C

Abstract

A major progress in the understanding of nuclear dynamics in light-particle induced reactions was made with the development of the theories of pre-equilibrium phenomena which led to a unified and comprehensive description of the reaction mechanisms. Is this possible also in the case of heavy-ion reactions? This paper addresses this question and shows a few results which have been obtained in a comprehensive study of light-ion induced reactions., Razvoj teorija predravnotežnih pojava doveo je do velikog napretka u razumijevanju nuklearne dinamike u reakcijama izazvanim lakim ionima, te do ujedinjenog i cjelovitog opisa reakcijskih mehanizama. Da li je to moguće i u slučaju reakcija s teškim ionima? U ovom se radu razmatra to pitanje i prikazuju mogući ishodi koji su postignuti u cjelovitom proučavanju reakcija izazvanih lakim ionima.
