3. "Ghosting emotions": An open door for navigating intimacy in contemporary Spain.

- Abstract
Ghosting has mostly been associated with app-dating. However, our research addresses ghosting as a broader field of face-to-face avoidance practices. The article highlights the role of avoidance in emotional practices to maintain ongoing relationships. In the case of contemporary Spain, the structural uncertainty that permeates intimate relationships-related to neoliberalism’s emphasis on individualism in the shaping of subjectivities-is reinforced by the tension in the coexistence of romantic and confluent models of love, which translates into a lack of scripts when it comes to dealing with intimacy. Drawing on the results of an ethnographic research project based on interviews with adults in the city of Madrid, we examine the ways in which social actors adapt their behavior to the context through what we have called ghosting emotions. This analytical tool accounts for those individual strategies, which, as a result of an exercise of emotional reflexivity, limit relationality by avoiding certain social practices in the shaping of intimacy. Thus, this article shows the concrete processes through which actors develop patterns shaping structural dimensions in contemporary intimacies when facing uncertainties. To safeguard individuality within relationships, these practices function as a means of enhancing a sense of control by leaving an open door. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

V prispevku avtor analizira ikonografijo vanitas in memento mori v izdajah emblemske knjige Andree Alciatija Emblematum Liber. Osnovo pregledanega fonda predstavljajo temeljne latinske izdaje Alciatija (Augsburg 1531, Pariz 1534, Benetke 1546, Lyon 1547, Lyon 1551, Frankfurt 1567, Antwerpen 1577, Pariz 1583, Padova 1621), vendar se nezanemarljiva odstopanja v vsebini emblemov pojavljajo tudi v drugih dostopnih izdajah 16. in 17. stoletja (Pariz 1536, Pariz 1539, Pariz 1542, Lyon 1549, Lyon 1551, Lyon 1556, Frankfurt ob Majni 1566/67, Pariz 1584, Najera 1615, Ženeva/Köln 1615).

- Abstract
This article, which is written in memory of Graham Barnes, describes his project of »reflexive« or »recursive psychotherapy«, which uses circular logic to turn psychotherapy back onto itself to bite its own tail to investigate its basic premises. With reflexive thinking we cannot step out of theory, but rather into another experience through a comparative epistemology. This entails developing a theory about theories, a language of language, an explanation of someone's experience that is also their experience. On the basis of my personal learning experience with Graham Barnes I describe his understanding of the tragedy in mental health and psychotherapy and his endeavours for the realization of psychotherapy which is not theory centered and which looks at psychopathology as invention rather than as a discovery. Three concepts - justice, love and wisdom - are then presented, which Barnes proposes as the key elements of psychotherapy as a talking activity and a way of persuasion, which can contribute to the development of civilization and democracy. Using the idea of »auditory hallucination« and with a vignette from clinical practice, it is shown how reflexive psychotherapy can reframe psychopathology to prevent pathologization, objectivizing connotations and stigmatizing the social impacts of psychiatric diagnostic categories. It is then shown how Barnes' dialogical and reflexive psychotherapy fits with postmodern constructivist ways of practice and how its principles can help psychotherapists to improve their efficacy and flexibility in their responses to the uniqueness of each client. The principles, which Barnes is proposing, have been confirmed by contemporary process - outcome research about what works in psychotherapy and by common factors theory on which the client-directed approach is based. The article concludes with showing how Barnes since his childhood was always creatively stepping beyond limitations and as a nonconformist stood up against unjust social restrictions. The central aim of the article is an intertextual comparison of the experienceof intimate love in the central characters Črtomir and Bogomila, as presented in Prešerenʼs Baptism at the Savica (Ljubljana, 1836) and in the dramatisations with the same title by Zorko Simčič (1953, 1965, 1994) and Dominik Smole (1969, 2003, 2009). In his drama Simčič follows Prešeren's pattern and complements the theme of transcendental love of the young couple, who sacrifice themselves for each other, with the Christian themes of guilt, forgiveness, and reconciliation. In Smoleʼs drama, on the other hand, Črtomir and Bogomila are incapable to love their love is "wild", depersonalized, violent, deprived of pure desire, too weak for self-sacrifice with their egotism they deny and finally destroy each other.

Sologamy represents symbolic marriage with oneself. Such expression of individual's love and self-commitment is ever more popular especially among middle-aged single women, who are often targets of singlism, ageism, and sexism. Do single life and sologamy represent an escape from patriarchal social norms, or merely new forms of control and subordination? In the search for my answer, I lean on key works from the field of social sciences. Throughout, I approach sologamy from different angles and recognise the interconnectedness of various dominant ideologies, values, and norms. Specifically, I focus on the notions of love, intimate relations, and singlehood and consider them within their changing social, cultural and temporal context within »Western« societies. My analysis of contemporary partnerships and society is centred on the ideologies of exalting the individual, of autonomy, freedom, and choice. I explore therapeutic culture, narcissism, and spectacle alongside critical considerations of mechanisms of oppression and reproduction of gender inequality through heteronormative ideas of happiness, time, and life course, supporting my claims by referring to existing interviews with sologamous individuals. Although the occurrence of sologamy itself reflects social inequalities and calls for their recognition, I conclude that its potential for emancipation on the broader socio-political scale is suppressed by the strength of discourse on personal growth.

Love, as the most incomprehensible and immeasurable phenomenon of humanity, has existed as a question of philosophical and political considerations since pre-Socratic times until today. Many revolutionary movements and revolutions of the 19th and 20th centuries recognized the importance of love, which is closely related to freedom of individuals. The liberation of love should thus be the fundamental project of every liberation movement. In the process of my writing, I am thinking about different views and understandings of love. I try to abandon the positivist paradigm as the historically most approved scientific approach oriented toward evaluation and categorization for the purposes of standardizing and regulating our human relationships and as an alternative I present stories as an aspect of knowledge formation. I am think about the conception of love from ancient to postmodernist philosophers. I place love in the context of late-capitalism and think about (self)alienation, narcissism and the abandonment of love. I think about the ethics of love, about its connection to politics. I place it in the context of anarchism and revolutionary action, and I consider its subversive potential. In the final part, I present alternative approaches to love relationships that go beyond the mono-hetero-normative framework of the institution of the couple.

Workplace romance is a common and growing phenomenon in organizational settings, representing a relationship between two members of the same organization that involves mutual sexual attraction. In Slovenia no research that examines the presence of workplace romance has been done, so the aim of the master's thesis was to investigate the perceptions of workplace romance, the experiences of Slovenian employees with such relationships, their development over time, the types of relationships, the factors and motives influencing their development and their consequences. We used a combination of quantitative (online survey) and qualitative (semi-structured interview) approaches. The first part of the online survey, completed by 334 working individuals, referred to perceptions, beliefs, and attitudes towards workplace romance, while the second part of the survey, completed by 125 individuals, referred to direct experiences with the studied construct. A semi-structured interview was conducted with eight individuals who have been directly involved in workplace romance. The results show that workplace romance is often present in Slovenian organizational environments. The most common are long-term relationships between colleagues of the same or similar status in the organization who are not involved in any other intimate relationship outside the workplace. Love motives play the largest role in shaping these relationships, and the perceived consequences of intimate relationships between colleagues are most often null or small, ranging from positive and negative to insignificant. Although workplace romance is often a disguised phenomenon, it is generally positively perceived by the surroundings. According to the data known to us, this is one of the first Slovenian studies on the topic of workplace romance. With research we aimed to fill a gap in the professional literature and contribute to a better understanding of such romances by everyone, organizations and employees alike. The findings of the master's thesis represent the basis for further study of workplace romance and the formulation of appropriate policies within working environments.

The following assignement presents the central theme of the work from modern French writer Pascal Quignard. The work mainly speaks about love but is very elusive regarding its form and content. Because of the form that is udefineable and due to the properties of the content, Secret life functions as something special, a work impossible to pin down in terms of literary species and genres. The work presents itself as a kind of poetical autobiographical text that is strongly connected to the field of philosophy. It uses several references from the world of classical, medieval and modern art, mostly literature and music. The differentiation between the narrator and the author is questionable. Quignard undertakes an ambitious journey: to describe and define the ontology of experience of love, from its origins before the speech, language, logos, to its two poles, fascination as the moment of confrontation between the sexes and desire as a kind of disarmament of this paralyzing state of being. The author constantly revolves around the connection between love and death, the critics of speech as enslaving and disguising property of society and the worship of love’s beauty and dissapearance. Even though Secret life can be denoted as a beautiful hommage to this life-giving force that is fundamentally unspeakable, it still seems that the writer never achieves the ultimate goal ‒ Unity.

V diplomskem delu z naslovom Kolekcija oblačil z izhodiščem v LGBTQ+ skupnosti sem raziskoval svojo lastno identiteto skozi LGBTQ+ skupnost ter v povezavi z računalniškimi in konzolnimi igrami. V eksperimentalnem delu sem opisal princip nastajanja kolekcije. Spodbuja osebno izražanje skozi oblačila in sprejemanje drugačnosti v družbi. In my graduate collection, entitled A fashion collection that takes inspiration from the lgbtq+ community, I explored my own identity through the lens of queer culture in connection to computer and console videogames. My aim was to intertwine the imaginary and real worlds. I wanted to design a collection that took inspiration from both worlds. In the theoretical part, I researched the history of the LGBTQ+ community, its characteristics, the rights of its members in Slovenia and their style identity. As I presented this style expression through the visual images of individuals, I tried to draw from drag queens and kings as well as the cosplay subculture. I researched instances of interaction between the fashion industry and videogames. In the experimental part I described how the collection was made. From the starting point, where I made different collages, to the separation of my own identity into seven characters/avatars. For each of the avatars, I created a distinct form that best reflects its visual and personal characteristics. I designed a unique collection of seven silhouets, presented through fashion illustrations and technical drawings. The broad colour pallette is derived from the rainbow LGBTQ+ community and from the most dominant colours present in selected videogames. I created digital patterns that depict the longing for love, freedom and acceptance. The final product of the bachelors thesis is a unique collection entitled gaymer. Its target audience are people in love, who want to express their feelings and maybe just for a brief moment escape into a new reality. The collection encourages expression through clothing and acceptance of diversity in society.

Based on a conceptual historiographic and semantic analysis of the fundamental terminology of the ritual of vengeance, this paper presents an attempt to provide researchers with a linguistic, conceptual, and methodological framework for the study of vengeance as the customary system of conflict resolution in premodern Europe. For this purpose the key terminology, which also has abundant synonyms, has been collected in the accompanying septalingual glossary. While predicated on, foremost, European Medieval sources and studies thereof, the dissemination and interrelation of the universal human custom make the paper applicable for other areas and periods. V magistrskem delu Preseganje eksistencialnih stisk v romanih treh francoskih avtorjev me je zanimalo, kaj protagonistom v romanih 2.999 SIT, Ljubezen traja tri leta, Francoski roman, Razširitev področja boja, Osnovni delci, Serotonin in Pridni sinko povzroča največjo eksistencialno stisko in kako le-to skušajo preseči. In the master's thesis Overcoming existential distress in the novels of three French authors, I was interested in what the protagonists in the novels 99 Francs, L’amour dure trois ans, Un roman français, Le Sens du combat, Les Particules Elementaires, Sérotonine and Un bon fils causes most existential distress and how they are trying to overcome this. Through a substantive analysis of the novels, I found that their distress is related to abandoned interpersonal relationships, of which the greatest pride is due to the changed social reality characteristic of consumer society this is essentially defined by the growing individualism, egoism, emancipation and sexual liberation of women, the loosening of moral norms, the abundance of choice, the seemingly limitless freedom, the craving for pleasure, and the misunderstanding of happiness. All of these phenomena prevent the protagonists from resolving their distress, so most prefer to flee to alcohol, drugs, sexuality, emotional numbness, and depression instead. Some of them, however, represent an exception partly in L’amour dure trois ans, Un roman français, and especially in the Un bon fils, the narrators overcome their existential distress - they forgive their "users" and resort to more "healthy" (traditional) relationships and addictions – reading and writing. The hardships they face do not frighten them, but allow them to become better people and artists, which is especially true of the protagonist in Bruckner’s novel. Similar to Les Particules Elementaires and Un roman français, the core of the distress of living is the narrator's relationship with his parents, but because the story takes place before the rise of mass consumerism, the narrator overcomes his distress much easier. These are already fundamentally different from those faced by the narrators of the other novels discussed.

V magistrskem delu predstavljam skupne značilnosti in razlike sedmih različic zgodbe Lepotica in zver. Središče primerjalne analize, predvsem skozi primerjavo likov, so ideje o ljubezni, lepoti, poroki, pravilnih družinskih odnosih in zverinskosti ter njihovo spreminjanje skozi čas. I present in my master's thesis the commonalities and differences of seven versions of Beauty and the Beast. The core of the comparative analysis, done especially by means of comparing characters, are ideas of love, beauty, marriage, healthy familial relationships and beastliness, and their changes though time. These works have been chosen due to their popularity or their diversity, demonstrating development of our way of thinking about the aforementioned topics. I analyse The Tale of Cupid and Psyche by Apuleius, the folk fairytale East of the Sun and West of the Moon, the Beauty and the Beast fairytales (by de Villeneuve and de Beaumont), the eponymous films by Jean Cocteau and Disney Studios, and Beauty and the Beast or what happened to Danica D.? by Ivo Svetina. These stories portray love as a maddening force as well as an origin of power to transform oneself. Female beauty can at times be a curse, but it can also be an advantage (at obtaining a partner). Physical beauty is occasionally the most important character attribute at other times the focus of the stories is the inner beauty of the Beauty and the Beast. Beauty and the Beast is diverse enough to contain messages of the power of empathy and love as well as a call for a pragmatic decision to marry a kind rich man, regardless of his apperance. Adaptations have therefore exposed our need for ceaseless questioning of timeless questions.

Ljubezen in literatura v romanih Carlosa Ruiza Zafóna Senca vetra in Draga Jančarja To noč sem jo videl. V diplomskem delu boma obravnavala romana Senca vetra (La sombra del viento, 2001) avtorja Carlosa Ruiza Zafóna in To noč sem jo videl (2010) avtorja Draga Jančarja. Najprej bom opisala zgodovinski kontekst dogajanja v Španiji in na Slovenskem v prvi polovici 20. stoletja. Nato bom predstavila oba avtorja, povzela vsebini obeh literanih del in podrobneje predstavila pomembnejše teme, kot so pomen književnosti, spominjanja, vplivov vojne, pomen svobode, umetnosti in položaja žensk. Love and Literature in the Novels by Carlos Ruiz Zafón The Shadow of the Wind (La sombra del viento, 2001) and I Saw Her That Night (To noč sem jo videl, 2010) by Drago Jančar. The diploma thesis paper addresses the question on Carlos Ruiz Zafón's novel The Shadow of the Wind (La sombra del viento, 2001) and Drago Jančar's novel I Saw Her That Night (To noč sem jo videl, 2010). Firstly, I described the historical context of both of the novels in the first half of 20th century in Spain and in Slovenia. I also wrote short presentation of the authors, then summarized the content of both literary works, and presented the most significant topics, such as the importance of literature, memories, the consequences of war, freedom, art, and the position of women. The events in both novels are quite marked by the (post)war period, but the main value that weaves the strongest threads and directs the course of life is love. I finished the comparative research with my personal opinion and outline of the novels as I experienced them myself. Despite the fact that the stories take place in quite different historical spaces, it is shown that the perceptions and reactions of people in Spanish and Slovene space to which the novels refer, are similar. We all strive for peaceful coexistence with those we love, pursuing dreams that can shine in all their light despite the shadows.

The following thesis analyzes the essence of the analyst-patient relationship and the definition of transference given by Lacan. The main emphasis will be placed on Lacan's »Subject supposed to know» as a transphenomenal basis for transfer phenomena. We will find that the position of the analyst is very similar to that of the beloved, and thus discuss the topics of love and desire and finally, we will touch the subject of the institutional process called »The Pass». Magistrsko delo raziskuje koncept ljubezni v postmoderni dobi s stališča teorije simulakrov in simulacije filozofa Jeana Baudrillarda. This thesis explores the concept of love in the postmodern era from the perspective of Jean Baudrillard’s theory of simulacra and simulation. The theoretical part of the thesis begins with a definition of Baudrillard’s simulacra and how they can be applied to postmodern love, continuing with a look into the role of fairy tales and early pop culture in the conceptualisation of romantic love. The focus of the analytical part is Michael Cunningham’s 1998 novel The Hours and its 2002 film adaptation by Stephen Daldry. This work is of particular interest to the discussion of love in terms of simulacra as the different romantic relationships depicted in it are all affected by various degrees of love-related simulacra, often leading to a comprehension, questioning and even dismantling of said simulacra. The Hours does an excellent job at pinpointing some of the complex issues in postmodern romantic relationships, demystifying them and providing viable alternatives to the socially constructed notions of what love and romance should look like.

V diplomskem delu avtor raziskuje mesto in vlogo trpljenja v odnosu med človekom in Bogom. V prvem poglavju raziskuje izkustvo trpljenja. In her thesis, the author makes a detailed study of the place and role of suffering in the relationship between God and men. In the first chapter, the author makes research on the experience of suffering. Since a person suffers, when facing evil, some kind of lack of good, the thesis starts at the point of what is good for the person. The fundamental good for any person originates from the fact that God the Father created them by the grace of the Holy Spirit in God the Son, to be in a free and unbreakable community with God, with their own nature, with their neighbours and with creation. Because of love, which is free, can mankind go away and search for joy somewhere else. Alienation from God drew to alienation from his own nature, which becoming vulnerable, mortal and afraid for itself prevails over the soul. At the same time, it drew to alienation from the neighbours and from creation. This is all together deviation from good, evil, which is experienced by the person as pain. In the second chapter, the author carries out research on God´s closeness to the suffering person. Once the person set out on their own path, God went after them at once. In the fullness of time, Jesus Christ took over human suffering, sin and death and, as man and God, offered himself to his Father. He took upon himself the root of evil: mistrust of God the Father. Since Jesus did this for obedience to his Father, He defeated them. He revealed God and humanity. He opened the way to his Father and allowed humanity to live pain and death as an expression of love to God the Father as well as to their brothers and sisters. The third chapter is dedicated to the way in which a person in pain can recieve God’s closeness. When a person suffers, they often turn it over to God. If the person is willing to listen to God, He can reveal Himself. God is then able to heal the person of their alienation from Him, from themselves, from their neighbours and He offers them a new life in God the Son. He lets the person have the sprout of eternal life and the grace to live for others. As a new creature, the person can face mortality, when denying oneself and laying down one's life for Christ. In intimacy with Christ, the person may accept suffering from God the Father´s hands, offer it, stand against it, grow from it and increase their closeness to God and to their brothers and sisters.

Vzporedno raziskujem definicije ljubezni in začetke literarnega pisanja o ljubezni in pojma (ljubezen in pravljico) povežem v hipotezi o socializiranju otrok v družbeno sprejemljive, oziroma zaželene podobe ljubezni. In my master's thesis I discuss the ideological and psychological effects of fairy tales on children. Through an overview of the development of the sociological function of the fairy tale, I reveal a planned change of the genre for the needs of the social climate in a given historical period. In addition, I explore the definitions of love and the origins of literary writing about love. The concepts of love and fairy tales are later linked in the hypothesis that discusess socializing children into socially acceptable or desirable images of love. A theoretical review of the literature provides an insight into both the history of love as well as fairy tales, and serves as a looking glass for their imprints both in professional texts and in traditional and popular culture. Simultaneously, I am constantly paying attention to the prevailing social discourse on the topic of children in a given period. The work draws from key authors such as Sigmund Freud, Jack Zipes, Bruno Bettelheim, Terry Jones, Anthony Giddens, Michel Foucault, Nicholas Sammond, Thomas Scheff and others. With the help of a factual comparison of identical fairy tales from different time periods, I reveal that the role of love in fairy tales has been systematically increasing.

Najprej poudarja koncept intimnosti, ljubezni, spolnosti in njihovo transformacijo v postmodernih družbah. Skozi kvalitativno raziskavo so prikazane izkušnje posameznikov s spletnim spoznavanjem partnerjev, njihovi razlogi za takšen način spoznavanja in percepcija posameznikov o pojmu ljubezni in partnerskih odnosih. Romantic partnerships as they once knew them are losing their significance over time, and instead of this transformation of both, social and intimate life, is taking place. This diploma deals with the change of intimacy over time, the construction of modern partnerships and the impact of the virtual world on building intimate relationships and romantic partnerships. Firstly it emphasizes the concept of intimacy, love, sexuality, and their transformation in postmodern societies. Above all, the first part focuses on Giddens' transformation of intimacy and his concept of "pure relationship". In the following, the influence of the development of technology on getting to know potential partners is highlighted, where the sociological aspects of finding and getting to know partners on the Internet are also presented. The Internet has become the main tool for many tasks, and with it, the modern way of getting to know each other has moved into the virtual world. The second part of diploma presents the construction of intimacy through the concept of online dating, perception of sexuality in the context of online dating, the reasons for using online applications in finding potential partners and the advantages and disadvantages of it. The experiences of individuals with Internet dating, their reasons for such a way of getting to know potencial partners and the perception of these individuals about the concept of love and partnerships are in this diploma presented through qualitative research.

Fyodor Dostoevsky's conceptualization of his philosophy on active love was profoundly shaped by the Gospel of John. It is in fact the Gospel of John that contains the majority of underlined quotes found in Dostoevsky's personal bible. In his works, love and forgiveness seem to grant a miraculous cure. The House of the Dead emphasizes the impact of relationships on awakening God's image in others. The characters in Humiliated and Insulted are able to forgive others once their love towards neighbors exceeds their own pride. In Crime and Punishment, Sonya's unselfish love guides Raskolnikov to identify the lies of his own ideals and cross over to a new life. In The Brothers Karamazov, Iljusa and Dmitrij are healed of the desire to seek revenge through active love towards others. According to Dostoevsky, there is no sin that God's love cannot wash away. It is essential, however, that the individual is aware of his sin and comes to hate it. Only then he is open to repentance. As asserted by Zosima, those who repent, already love.
