Leadership in healthcare is a managerial key that facilitates optimal utilization of limited human resources in the health sector. Successful leaders not only advance the organizations providing healthcare services in terms of effectiveness and efficiency, but also positively impact healthcare professionals’ commitment to their work and organizations, job satisfaction, and motivation. The significance of leadership in healthcare has become particularly evident following periods of crisis. Recent crises that have profoundly affected healthcare services, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and earthquake disasters, have underscored the need for effective leaders. In this context, the present study aimed to assess and present an overview of the research on healthcare leadership using bibliometric analysis. It is believed that this study offers significant theoretical contributions by identifying the concepts most closely associated with healthcare leadership and providing direction for future research. The development of healthcare leadership literature over time, alongside the implementation of practice-oriented recommendations, may result in positive outcomes that could indirectly benefit both healthcare organizations and patients and their families receiving care.
