Scientific discourse is viewed as a specific object of linguistic analysis in light of cognitive-discursive paradigm. Categories are integral parts of the scientific discourse, yet there is no full list of such categories. Insufficient studies of the category of inclusiveness, as one of the categories that has not come under linguistic scrutiny, specifically, in modern English scientific discourse, call for investigating this category and its elements. The paper deals with the analysis of the metaphors of inclusive semantics to convey the category of inclusiveness. Empirical material of our study involves Anglo-American articles in the field of information and communication technologies, as this research domain deals with the latest cutting-edge technologies that influence virtually all spheres of human life due to the potential of such technologies to dramatically reshape information society in the age of digital revolution. We have outlined the following types of inclusive metaphors in the language of science: the metaphor of CONTAINER that is expressed through a bunch of linguistic devices (nouns: container, envelope, family, house; verbs: to house, to wrap up); the metaphor of CIRCLE (nouns: circle; verbs: to circle, compass, to compass, to encircle, to enclose, to surround, set phrase: to range from…to); and the metaphor of CONTENTS. The obtained results have shown that the metaphor of CONTAINER is the most frequently used one.

The aim of this article is to analyze three approaches in investigation of natural languages’ stable categories. These approaches were developed as autonomous research paradigms. The first suggests analyzing parts of speech as manifests of systemic character of language. The second opposes the last to the pragmatics of language functioning and emphasize descriptives, regulatives and expressives as basic «roles» of words. The third paradigm gives particular attention to the special stratum of language categories — concepts that are responsible for the incorporation of «language life» into the «culture life» of a given society.I propose to synthesize three mentioned paradigms with the help of systemic-communicative model of language. Then the problem of revealing the categorical basis of natural languages will appear not as a problem of partitioning for words, their functions or significances. Instead, we speak about united, coherent basis of categories, which is elaborated, fixed and accepted by communicative society. The system-forming factor for such a union is the pragmatics of language. The choice of communicative goals and dialog «genres» will imply the choice of language formalization types — as intended for knowledge («form — image»), for activity («form — rule»), for sensory-emotional state of communicators. The special importance in the proposed synthesis plays the acceptance of communicatively equal significance of two complementary subsystems of language functioning, namely addresser and addressee subsystems., В статье анализируются три подхода к исследованию категорий естественного языка, которые формировались как самостоятельные парадигмы. Первая парадигма связана с изучением частей речи как проявления системности языка; вторая ознаменовалась противопоставлением системности языка прагматичности его функционирования и выделением дескриптивов, регулятивов и экспрессивов как основных «ролей» слов. Третья парадигма акцентирует внимание на особом слое категорий языка — концептов, ответственных за вхождение «жизни языка» в «жизнь культуры» данного общества.Автор предлагает синтезировать указанные парадигмы с помощью системно-коммуникативной модели языка. Проблема выделения категориального базиса естественных языков при этом выступает не как проблема разбиения слов, их функций или значимостей; речь идёт о едином, связном базисе категорий, выработанном, закреплённом и принятом коммуникативным сообществом; системообразующим фактором в этом единстве выступает языковая прагматика. От выбора коммуникативных целей и «жанров» общения зависит и выбор видов языковой формализации — направленных на знание («форма-образ»), на деятельность («форма-правило»), на чувственно-эмоциональное состояние коммуникантов. Особую важность при этом имеет признание коммуникативной равноценности двух дополнительных подсистем функционирования языка — подсистемы адресанта и подсистемы адресата., У статті аналізуються три підходи у дослідженні категорій природної мови, що сформувалися як самостійні парадигми. Перша парадигма стосується вивчення частин мови як виразу системності мови; друга ознаменувалася протиставленням системності мови прагматичності її функціонування та виокремленням дескриптивів, регулятивів і експресивів як основних «ролей» слів. Третя парадигма акцентує увагу на особливій групі категорій мови — концептів, що відповідають за входження «життя мови» у «життя культури» даного суспільства.Автор пропонує синтезувати вказані парадигми за допомогою системно-комунікативної моделі мови. Проблема виокремлення категоріального базису природних мов при цьому виступає не як проблема розбиття слів, їх функцій чи значимостей; мова йде про єдиний, зв’язний базис категорій, який розроблено, закріплено та прийнято комунікативним суспільством. Системоутворюючим фактором у цій єдності виступає мовна прагматика. Від вибору комунікативних цілей та «жанрів» спілкування залежить і вибір видів мовної формалізації: направлених на знання («форма-образ»), на діяльність («форма-правило»), на почуттєво-емоційний стан комунікантів. Особливу роль при цьому відіграє визнання комунікативної рівноцінності двох додаткових підсистем функціонування мови — підсистеми адресанта і підсистеми адресата.

Ovaj rad ima za zadatak da pokaže kakav su uticaj različite filozofske ideje imale na razvoj teorije prototipova kao sastavnog dela iskustvenog realizma i jednog od uporišta savremene kognitivne lingvistike. Nakon obrazlaganja osnovnih ideja iskustvenog realizma, rad najpre razmatra prototipove u okviru osnovnih pristupa kategorizaciji u mišljenju i jeziku, a zatim daje pregled ideja Imanuela Kanta, Edmunda Huserla i Ludviga Vitgenštajna, sa posebnim osvrtom na Vitgenštajnova Filozofska istraživanja, te Plavu i Braon svesku, tačnije na njegova razmatranja povezana sa problemima kategorizacije, poput pojma jezičkih igara i ideje o porodičnim sličnostima., The main purpose of the paper is to show the influence of various philosophical ideas on the development of prototype theory, an integral part of experiential realism and one of the key strongpoints of modern cognitive linguistics. After providing an overview of the main tenets of experiential realism, the paper deals with the position of prototypes within the basic approaches to categorization in thought and language, which is followed by a summary of a number of ideas of Immanuel Kant, Edmund Husserl and Ludwig Wittgenstein, with a special emphasis on Wittgenstein’s Philosophical Investigations and the Blue and Brown Books, i.e. on his explorations of the problem of categorization, language games and family resemblances. The paper proves that the philosophical thread which brings us to the modern ideas of cognitive linguistics began with Kant’s views on knowledge and the nature of categorization, Husserl’s concept of categorical intuition and, finally, Wittgenstein’s treatment of categories based on the complex network of family resemblances.
