Currently, large number of devices have been connected to the Internet of Things (IoT). Ubiquitous IoT devices encounter emergencies and generate much data which may lead to congestion and urgency to be processed timely. To alleviate it, many approaches have been proposed and Adaptive Duty Cycle Control (ADCC) scheme is an effective one. The main contributions of this paper are as follows: (a) Unlike previous studies that mostly the efficiency of congestion control and real-time processing is experiment-oriented, specially, this paper theoretically gives a targeted optimization of duty cycle ratio, which can effectively guide the design of ADCC scheme for real time big data. (b) A general design principle is proposed to guide the scheme designing in order to improve the efficiency and performance of networks. (c) A comprehensive congestion avoidance and real-time processing scheme combining dynamic duty cycle adjustment and full utilization of residual energy is proposed. Thus, these ideas can meet the concept of Green IoT. Through our extensively theoretical and experimental analysis, the principle can effectively guide the design of ADCC scheme, and can reduce the delay, data drop ratio by 20.95% − 77.85% and 29.63% − 100% respectively, without affecting network lifetime, compared with previous scheme.

2-Amino-6-methylpyridine (2-AMP) was investigated experimentally using FT-IR, 1H, NMR, and UV-Vis spectra, as well as theoretically using DFT calculations. The quantum computational calculations (the optimized structure, FT-IR, NMR and UV-Vis.) to support experimental data were performed by DFT approach at B3LYP functional and 6–311 + +G(d,p) basis set. The optimized molecular geometry and wavenumber calculations were done in the gas phase, while theoretical NMR was performed in Chloroform (CHCL3) solvation. The “Potential Energy Distribution analysis” (PED) of the title compound was performed with VEDA analysis and these assignments were compared with the experimental FT-IR spectrum. Hirshfeld analysis was also performed and analyzed intermolecular interactions on the surface of crystal, However, the most significant contributions to the Hirshfeld surface come from N···H (17.3%), C···H/H···C (23%) and H···H (68.8%). Chemical reactivity studies, Molecular Electrostatic Potential (MEP) maps, and surface area maps were also conducted. To show electron delocalization in the molecule, researchers used the electron localization function (ELF). Other topics included topological and mulliken charge distribution studies. Natural Bond Order Analysis (NBO) was performed to interpret intermolecular charge transfer.The effect of temperature on thermodynamical parameters such as Gibbs free energy, enthalpy, and entropy was examined. TD-DFT analysis was also used to shed more light on how the electronic transitions in the UV–Vis spectra were estimated. For different solvents, the estimated maximum wavelength (λ) absorbance and the band-gap energy of 2-AMP were calculated and compared to experimental results. The molecule's bioactivity is described theoretically using the Electrophilicity index and the interaction between the ligand-protein is depicted using Molecular docking. The proteins 3DQS, 4UX6, 5ADF, 5TUD, and 6E9L were studied via molecular docking. The nature of the molecule was determined by its drug-likeness. A molecular dynamics simulation was used to explore biomolecular stability.

Carbon quantum dots “CQDs” were investigated as photo-luminescent nanomaterials as it advantageous with nontoxicity to be alternative for metallic-nanomaterials in different purposes. Therefore, the presented report demonstrates an innovative strategy for industrialization of antimicrobial/fluorescent cotton textiles via exploitation of “CQDs”. Unique/novel infrared-assisted technique was currently investigated for clustering “CQDs” form carboxymethyl cellulose. The successive nucleation of “CQDs” (8.0 nm) was affirmed via infra-red, Raman spectroscopy, NMR, TEM and Zeta-potential analysis. The clustered “CQDs” showed antimicrobial and fluorescent characters. The minimal inhibition concentration for “CQDs” (100 mg/mL) against E. coli and C. albicans showed pathogenic reduction of 96% and 82%, respectively. Fluorescent emission spectra for “CQDs” showed two intense peaks at 415–445 nm. “CQDs” were loaded upon pristine and cationized cotton to prepare CQDs@cotton and CQDs@cationized cotton. While, their physical/mechanical properties (air and water vapor permeabilities, tensile strength and elongation %) and thermal stability (TGA & DTG analysis) were studied. The CQDs@cationized cotton exhibited excellent antimicrobial activity with good durability as after ten repretitive washings, inhibition zone diameter against E. coli, was diminished from 21.0 mm to 14.0 mm. The fluorescent emmision intensity was diminished from 741 to 287 after 10 washing cycles. The produced cotton fabrics could be safely used in the medical and military textiles.

Organic pollutants generated from different industrial sources cause soil and water pollutions, which creates an ecological imbalance. Metal oxide and carbon-based nanocomposites are extensively used to remediate industrial pollution. In this study, TiO2–Co3O4 and TiO2–Co3O4/graphene oxide nanocomposites were prepared and utilized to degrade the organic pollutants such as crystal violet, methylene blue and ofloxacin. The structural, optical and morphological properties of the nanocomposites were confirmed by XRD, FTIR, UV–Vis, FE-SEM, TEM and BET analysis. The XRD and SAED pattern of the nanocomposites confirms the formation of titanium dioxide-cobalt oxide with graphene oxide. The broadening of the hydroxyl group (3556 and 1638 cm−1) and metal oxide band was observed from the FTIR spectra after the incorporation of cobalt oxide and graphene oxide. The EDX spectra confirm the occurrence of Ti, Co, and O peaks in TiO2–Co3O4 (TC), whereas GO-TiO2–Co3O4 (GTC) nanocomposites reveal the occurrence of C, Ti, Co, and O. In the dark condition, the prepared catalyst shows less than 10% of organic pollutant removal. Under light irradiation, GTC catalysts completely degraded the MB, CV and OFX, whereas TC showed 62%, 54%, and 31%, respectively. The enhancement in the photocatalytic removal of organic molecules is due to the decreased particle size, surface area and bandgap of GTC. The photocatalytic behaviour of GTC is significantly higher than the TC, thus it concluded that GTC has the higher efficiency towards the removal of organic pollutants present in the aqueous medium.

Due to its theoretically anticipated and practically observed above-room-temperature ferromagnetism and lengthy spin-coherence time, TiO2 has long been regarded as a viable candidate material for diluted magnetic semiconductors. Therefore, pure and (Sr, Co) co-doped TiO2 nanostructures of different compositions were synthesized via a simple hydrothermal method. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed the formation of a high anatase phase with grain sizes ranging between 26 and 33 nm. The functional groups of these nanoparticles were observed through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis. Furthermore, Raman spectroscopy endorsed the single phase of the prepared nanostructures. UV–Vis spectroscopy was applied to study the behavior of absorption, which indicated an increase in band gap from 3.30 eV (pure TiO2) to 3.34 eV (5% co-doped TiO2). In addition, Ti3+ centers affiliated with oxygen vacancies have been described by electron spin resonance spectroscopy. Our findings provide comprehensive insight to tailor structural and optical properties of TiO2 nanostructure by Sr and Co co-doping. The (Sr, Co) co-doped TiO2 samples show ferromagnetic behavior. The saturation and remnant magnetizations (Ms and Mr) increased from (0.821 to 2.801) memu/g and (0.23 to 0.27 memu/g) while coercivity (Hc) enhanced from 50 to 75 Oe with an increase in the concentration of dopants in the TiO2 matrix. In (Sr, Co) co-doped TiO2 specimens, oxygen vacancies have been shown to be the principal cause of room-temperature ferromagnetism. The results reveal that the improved optical and magnetic characteristics of the (Sr, Co) co-doped TiO2 are closely linked to oxygen vacancy concentrations. The (Sr, Co)-doped TiO2 nanoparticles are suitable for spin-based electronics and optoelectronics-based industrial applications.

Fossil fuels are the main energy sources responsible for harmful emissions and global warming. Using biodiesel made from waste deep-frying oil as an alternative fuel source in diesel engines has drawn great attention. This biodiesel is produced using the transesterification process and blends with mineral diesel at Faculty of Agriculture Saba Basha, Alexandria University, Egypt. The turbocharged diesel engine of a Kubota M-90 tractor was tested. The objectives of this work are to test tractor as a source of power in the farm using waste deep-frying oil biodiesel to utilize waste frying oils (WFO) in clean energy production on the farm and determine the best engine loading stages to maximize engine efficiencies for different fuel blends and reduce the environmental impact of gas emissions from tractor diesel engines in the farms. The experiment design was factorial, with two factors, where the first was the engine load (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%) and the second was fuel blend (0%, 5%, 20%, and 100% biodiesel), and the effects of loading stages and biodiesel percentage on engine performance indicators of engine speed, power take off torque, power take off power, brake power, brake mean effective pressure, brake thermal efficiency, brake specific fuel consumption, and gas emissions were studied. The experimental results indicated that engine load percentage and fuel blend percentage significantly affected all studied characters, and the best engine loading stages were between 25 and 75% to maximize engine efficiency and minimize the specific fuel consumption and gas emissions. Increasing the biodiesel percentage at all loading stages resulted decreasing in Engine brake power (BP), brake thermal efficiency, Power take-off (PTO) torque, and brake mean effective pressure and increases in brake specific fuel consumption. Increasing the engine load resulted in decreases in O2 emissions and increases in CO2, CO, NO, and SO2 emissions. Increasing the biodiesel percentage in the blended fuel samples resulted in increases in O2 and NO emissions and decreases in CO2, CO, and SO2 emissions. The use of biodiesel with diesel fuel reduces the environmental impact of gas emissions and decreases engine efficiency.

The oily sludge treatments catch widespread attention. But, management of sludge is difficult and costly undertaking. The oil recovery pyrolysis temperature, heating rate and carbon wt.% is discussed. The recovered aliphatic, aromatic, elemental components and gases were obtained with respect to the nitrogen flow rate. The present work showed that as the heating rate increases, both the %pyrolysis oil and gases increases up to 600 OC, while the %pyrolysis char decreases. Beyond 600 OC, the pyrolysis gases% increases, the pyrolysis oil% decreases while the %pyrolysis char continuous decreases. Gas chromatography, and calorific value used to examine the hydrocarbon compositions of the virgin, sludge, and pyrolysis oils.

Massively dense deployment of Internet of Things (IoT) devices has put a stringent requirement on cellular networks to provide convenient service for not only human type traffic (HTC) but also for bursty traffic for IoT devices. Any bottleneck in the random access process means the bottleneck of the entire system because it is the first step before scheduled access. Access class barring (ACB) scheme is one of the key schemes in long term evolution advanced (LTE-A) to control the congestion in a random access process in which the access of some devices is barred based on a parameter, ACB factor, to relieve the congestion. In this paper, we analyze the ACB factor and criteria of its selection as the optimal selection of the ACB factor is essential for the maximum throughput of the system. The metrics used in the analysis of the ACB factor are total service time (TST), access delay and maximum collision, success, and idle probabilities with fixed and optimal ACB factor. Simulation results in MATLAB provide the complete picture of the behavior of the ACB factor and its control, used in the random access process.

This study aims to produce green zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) derived from red seaweed (Pterocladia Capillacea) and evaluate their potential to absorb Ismate violet 2R (IV2R) ions from an aqueous solution. UV-vis spectrophotometry, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and a Brunauer–Emmett–Teller surface area analysis (BET) were used to analyze the structural, morphological, and optical features of the synthesized nanoparticles. The change in color of the chemical solution revealed the formation of zinc oxide nanoparticles. The FTIR examination confirmed the synthesis of both Zn and ZnO nanoparticle powder, with a BET surface area of 113.751 m2 g−1 and an average pore size of 2.527 nm for the synthesized adsorbent. Furthermore, the maximum removal effectiveness of IV2R was 99% when 0.08 g ZnO-NPs was applied at a pH of 6, a temperature of 55 °C, and a contact time of 120 min. The dye adsorption capacity of the ZnO-NPs was 72.24 mg g−1. The adsorption process was also controlled by the Freundlich adsorption model and pseudo-second-order reaction kinetics. The adsorption of IV2R ions onto the ZnO-NPs could be represented as a nonideal and reversible sorption process of a nonuniform surface, according to Freundlich adsorption isotherms. In addition, the constant values of the model parameters were determined using various nonlinear regression error functions. Moreover, thermodynamic parameters such as entropy change, enthalpy change, and free energy change were investigated; the adsorption process was spontaneous and endothermic. The high capacity of the ZnO-NPs synthesized by red seaweed promotes them as promising substances for applications in water treatment for the removal of IV2R dye from aqueous systems.

For safety concerns, polymer-based Li–O2 batteries have received more attention than traditional non-aqueous Li–O2 batteries. However, poor cycling stability, low round trip efficiency, and over charge potential during cycling are the major shortcomings for their future applications. In this work, a soluble redox mediator integrated into a polymer electrolyte provides immediate access to the solid discharged product, lowering the energy barrier for reversible Li2O2 generation and disintegration. Moreover, introducing a redox mediator to the polymer electrolyte boosts the ORR during discharge and the OER during the recharge process. The synergistic redox mediator pBQ (1,4 benzoquinone) dramatically reduces the over-potential. A small proportion of pBQ in the polymer electrolyte allows Li2O2 to develop in a thin film-like morphology on the cathode surface, resulting in a high reversible capacity of ∼12 000 mA h g−1 and an extended cycling stability of 100 cycles at 200 mA g−1 with a cut-off capacity of 1000 mA h g−1. The remarkable cell performance is attributed to the fast kinetics of para benzoquinone for the ORR and OER in Li–O2 batteries. The use of a redox mediator in a polymer electrolyte opens a new avenue for practical Li–O2 battery applications in achieving low charge potential and excellent energy efficiency.

Batch adsorption experiments were carried out to study the removal of the toxic Methylene Blue Dye (MBD) from synthetic aqueous solutions using the nanoparticles form of Arthrospira platensis NIOF17/003. The adsorption capacity of the adsorbent for MBD was investigated using different amounts of A. platensis nanoparticles at different contact times, temperatures, pH, and MBD initial concentrations in the synthetic aqueous solution. In addition, A. platensis nanoparticles were characterized using Electron Microscopy (SEM), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), and Ultraviolet spectra (UV) techniques. The optimum removal of MBD was found at a concentration of 0.4 g A. platensis nanoparticles. A. platensis nanoparticles remove 93% of MBD in 5 min (under agitation conditions at 150 rpm). The highest adsorption capacity was found by the Langmuir model to be 58.8 mg g−1. It is an endothermic process with spontaneity increasing with temperature. The probable mechanism for the adsorption is chemisorption via surface-active charges in the initial phase, which is followed by physical sorption by occupying pores of A. platensis. MBD adsorption by A. platensis follows pseudo-second-order kinetics. The Freundlich and Langmuir models fit well with the experimental data. The adsorption experiments suggested that the regeneration of the adsorbents was possible for repeated use, especially regarding MBD up to 65.8% after three cycles, which proves it can be easily recycled. In conclusion, the nanoparticles of A. platensis have a significant adsorption potential in the removal of MBD from effluent wastewater.

The dried form of the brown seaweed Sargassum latifolium was tested for its ability to remove toxic Methylene Blue Dye (MBD) ions from aqueous synthetic solutions and industrial wastewater effluents. In a batch adsorption experiment, different initial concentrations of MBD (5, 10, 20, 30, and 40 mg L−1), sorbent dosages (0.025, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5 g L−1), contact time (5, 10, 15, 30, 60, 120 min), pH (3, 5, 8, 10, and 12), and temperature (30, 40, 50, 60 °C) were observed. Dried powder of S. latifolium was characterized before and after adsorption of MBD using different techniques, such as FTIR, SEM, UV visible spectral examination, and BET techniques. The BET surface area suggests the formation of S. latifolium was 111.65 m2 g−1, and the average pore size was 2.19 nm. The obtained results showed that at an MBD concentration of 40 mg L−1, the adsorption was rapid in the first 5, 10, and 15 min of contact time, and an equilibrium was reached in about 60 and 120 min for the adsorption. At the optimum temperature of 30 °C and the adsorbent dose of 0.1 g L−1, approximately 94.88% of MBD were removed. To find the best-fit isotherm model, the error function equations are applied to the isotherm model findings. Both Tempkin and Freundlich isotherm models could appropriate the equilibrium data, as well as the pseudo 2nd order kinetics model due to high correlation coefficients (R2). Thermodynamic and Freundlich model parameters were assessed and showed that the mechanism of the sorption process occurs by an endothermic and physical process. According to the results of the experiments, S. latifolium is a promising environmentally friendly approach for eliminating MBD from the aqueous solution that is also cost-effective. This technology could be useful in addressing the rising demand for adsorbents employed in environmental protection processes.

The ligand-protein complex was studied using an MD simulation. It provides a comprehensive grasp of a biomolecular system's dynamics, mechanism, and atom’s nature. Two distinct receptors have been docked with the target drug 2-Hydrazinobenzothiazole (2-HBT), also known as 1,3-benzothiazol-2-ylhydrazine (IUPCA name). All obtained observations of the 2-Hydrazinobenzothiazole drug are discussed with appropriate literature survey. Density functional theory using the higher-order basis set 6-311++G was used to determine the theoretical traits and characteristics. The spectroscopic characterizations of FT-IR, FT-Raman, UV-visible, and NMR were calculated throughout this work. This research adds to the examination of a pharmaceutically active “2-Hydrazinobenzothiazole” drug's geometrical structure, vibrational spectra, and corresponding assignments as well as PED values with electrical, thermodynamic, optical, and nonlinear properties. Theoretically and experimentally observed results of all characterizations were compared, including NMR, UV–visible, infrared, and Raman spectroscopy. The named drug exhibits good biological activity in nature, as demonstrated theoretically by molecular docking. Time-dependent density function theory (TD-DFT) highlighted the contrast in between Highest occupied (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy gap with UV absorption spectra. Besides , in Infrared and Raman characterization vibration spectra, a scaling factor eliminates the solid-to-gas phase transition.

This research investigates the performance of medium density fiberboard (MDF) with respect to hot press parameters. The performance of the board, type of glue, and production efficiency determine the optimum temperature and pressure for hot pressing. The actual temperature of the hot press inside the MDF board determines the properties of the final product. Hence, the optimal hot press parameters for the desired product are experimentally obtained. Moreover, MDF is experimentally investigated in terms of its vertical density profile, bending, and internal bonding under the various input parameters of temperature, pressure, cycle time, and moisture content during the manufacturing process. The experimental study is carried out by varying the temperature, pressure, cycle time, and moisture content in the ranges of 200–220 °C, 145–155 bar, 260–275 s, and 8–10%, respectively. Consequently, the optimum input parameters of a hot-pressing temperature of 220 °C, pressure of 155 bar, cycle time of 256 s, and moisture content of 8% are identified for the required internal bonding (0.64 N/mm2), bending (32 N/mm2), and increase in both the core and peak density of the vertical density profile as per the ASTM standard.

Background and aim: The poultry meat and its products are considered ideal media for bacterial growth and spoilage, as they are highly nutritive with a favorable pH. The food industry has focused its attention on a great diversity of plant species as food preservatives. The aim of this study was to investigate the presence of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli O157: H7, and Klebsiella pneumonia in food samples and to evaluate of the antibacterial activity of some medicinal plant extracts against these bacteria. Methods: Raw and processed meat samples (n = 60) were collected from abattoirs and local markets. S. aureus, E. coli O157: H7, and K. pneumonia were isolated, identified by phenotypic methods, and then confirmed by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The antibacterial activity and spectrum of essential oils and spices powder of cumin, black seeds, cloves, cinnamon, and marjoram was determined against the isolated strains in this study by microbial count and well-diffusion techniques. Results: A total of 33 isolates have been identified as S. aureus, 30 isolates were identified as E. coli O157: H7, and 15 isolates were identified as K. pneumonia. S. aureus, E. coli O157: H7, and K. pneumonia could be detected in both fresh and processed food with higher prevalence in the processed meat. There was a significant decrease in microbial count in treated samples either with the spices powder or essential oils of the tested medicinal plants compared to control samples during storage time period. Furthermore, while the microbial count increased in the control samples, the microbial count decreased to reach zero in almost all treated samples with essential oils after 15 days of storage. Conclusion: S. aureus, E. coli O157: H7, and K. pneumonia are associated with food from animal sources, in either fresh or processed meat samples. The prevalence of them was higher in the processed meat than in fresh meat. The essential oils and spices powder of cumin, black seeds, cloves, cinnamon, and marjoram have an in vitro wide spectrum antibacterial activity with the highest antibacterial activity for the black seeds.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus has been a major health issue with increasing morbidity and mortality due to macrovascular and microvascular complications. The urgent need for improved methods to control hyperglycemic complications reiterates the development of innovative preventive and therapeutic treatment strategies. In this perspective, xanthone compounds in the pericarp of the mangosteen fruit, especially α-mangostin (MGN), have been recognized to restore damaged pancreatic β-cells for optimal insulin release. Therefore, taking advantage of the robust use of nanotechnology for targeted drug delivery, we herein report the preparation of MGN loaded nanosponges for anti-diabetic therapeutic applications. The nanosponges were prepared by quasi-emulsion solvent evaporation method. Physico-chemical characterization of formulated nanosponges with satisfactory outcomes was performed with Fourier transform infra-red (FTIR) spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Zeta potential, hydrodynamic diameter, entrapment efficiency, drug release properties, and stability studies at stress conditions were also tested. Molecular docking analysis revealed significant interactions of α-glucosidase and MGN in a protein-ligand complex. The maximum inhibition by nanosponges against α-glucosidase was observed to be 0.9352 ± 0.0856 µM, 3.11-fold higher than acarbose. In vivo studies were conducted on diabetic rats and plasma glucose levels were estimated by HPLC. Collectively, our findings suggest that MGN-loaded nanosponges may be beneficial in the treatment of diabetes since they prolong the antidiabetic response in plasma and improve patient compliance by slowly releasing MGN and requiring less frequent doses, respectively.

In this work, the quasi-solid-state polymer electrolyte containing poly(vinyl alcohol)-polypyrrole as a polymer host, potassium iodide (KI), iodine (I2), and different plasticizers (EC, PC, GBL, and DBP) was successfully prepared via the solution casting technique. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) was used to analyze the interaction between the polymer and the plasticizer. X-ray diffraction confirmed the reduction of crystallinity in the polymer electrolyte by plasticizer doping. The ethylene carbonate-based polymer electrolyte showed maximum electrical conductivity of 0.496 S cm−1. The lowest activation energy of 0.863 kJ mol−1 was obtained for the EC-doped polymer electrolyte. The lowest charge transfer resistance Rct1 was due to a faster charge transfer at the counter electrode/electrolyte interface. The polymer electrolyte containing the EC plasticizer exhibited an average roughness of 23.918 nm. A photo-conversion efficiency of 4.19% was recorded in the DSSC with the EC-doped polymer electrolyte under the illumination of 100 mWcm−2.

Environmental nanotechnology has received much attention owing to its implications on environmental ecosystem, and thus is promising for the elimination of toxic elements from the aquatic surface. This work focuses on Cu-doped ZnSe nanoparticles using the co-precipitation method. The synthesized Cu-doped ZnSe nanoparticles were examined for structural, optical, and morphological properties with the help of XRD, FTIR, UV/vis diffuse reflection spectroscopy (DRS), FESEM, TEM, and XPS. The synthesized Cu-doped ZnSe nanoparticles revealed the presence of Cu2+ in the ZnSe lattice, which has been shown to take a predominant role for enhanced catalysis in the Cu-doped ZnSe nanoparticles. The synthesized Cu-doped ZnSe nanoparticles were investigated for their catalytic and antibacterial activities. The 0.1 M copper-doped ZnSe nanoparticles exhibited the highest rate of degradation against the methyl orange dye, which was found to be 87%. A pseudo-first-order kinetics was followed by Cu-doped ZnSe nanoparticles with a rate constant of 0.1334 min−1. The gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria were used for investigating the anti-bacterial activity of the Cu-doped ZnSe nanoparticles.
