2. ANALIZA ZADOVOLJSTVA DRUŠTVENOM OPREMLJENOŠĆU NA PRIMJERU DOSTUPNOSTI DO OBRAZOVNIH OBJEKATA GRADA ZADRA.

- Abstract
There is still just a small number of geographers in Croatia who choose to focus on the study of the level of satisfaction in regard to the availability of public facilities and services in urban areas. The complexity of the problematics linked to field-specific elements means that multidisciplinary knowledge is required, ranging from sociology to the planning applications. The main aim of the research is to evaluate the level of satisfaction in regard to the availability of public facilities and services, based on 14 selected variables that form its indicator in case study Zadar. On the basis of recent studies, it has been concluded that the two-level approach, that is the subjective and objective measures, is the most adequate approach to analyse the availability of public facilities and services as comprehensively as possible. The 2011 census was chosen as the source of data for objective indicators, with descriptive statistics used to process the data. On the other hand, an opinion poll was conducted to provide the results to be used as subjective indicators. The outcome of the research confirms the author’s assumption that the level of satisfaction in regard to the availability of public facilities and services is very good, with the exception of statistical areas on the outskirts of the city, where it is found to be lower. The most satisfactory availability of public facilities and services has been reported by the residents who are closer to the city centre (Višnjik, Poluotok, Jazine). On the one hand, it is due to the location. On the other hand, it is due to the planned development of the area and satisfactory infrastructure. The most inadequate availability of public facilities and services has been recorded in the statistical area of Novi Bokanjac, which is at the same time the most prosperous part of the city according to demographic factors. However, located on the outskirts of the city, it occupies the corresponding area of its budget. The proposed methodology of calculating the indicators of satisfaction in regard to the availability of public facilities and services on the basis of 14 variables was tested using one selected variable: the distance of educational institutions. The analysis shows that there is a very good spatial distribution of educational facilities in Zadar, with the exception of the statistical areas of Novi Bokanjac and Ploče. This confirms the accuracy of the proposed methodology, that is the fact that the formed indicator of satisfaction in regard to the availability of public facilities and services is scientifically valid, and as such applicable to other areas. - Abstract
Purpose: The article describes the development, and presents the proposed information literacy standards with performance indicators for secondary education. Methodology/approach: In Slovenia, no document exists that would define information literacy standards, performance indicators and expected outcomes (knowledge and skills) with different proficiency levels for the secondary school level. To identify appropriate contents and topics, international standards, frameworks and tests of information and digital literacies on the secondary and higher education levels were studied. Slovenian secondary school curricula were analysed, and topics that refer to information literacy were identified. By comparing and overlapping contents of the curricula and the international standards and tests, a proposal was produced, consisting of information literacy standards and performance indicators for the secondary education. The standards were operationalised by stating the expected outcomes (achievements) on three levels of difficulty. Results: Seven information literacy standards with 20 performance indicators were formulated. For each indicator, the corresponding knowledge (expected outcomes) are given on three proficiency levels. Research limitation: The proposed standards and performance indicators were designed by analysis, evaluation and synthesis of information from available international and Slovenian literature. Further testing, harmonisation and optimisation of the proposal in practice of the Slovenian secondary school system will be needed. Originality/practical implications: The proposal of information literacy standards and performance indicators for secondary education fills the existing gap and contributes towards the standardisation and improvement of information literacy in the secondary school population. The trend of the increasing role of data, indicators for assessment of the states and perspectives of physical planning can be observed. The role of spatial data inventory is not decreasing, on the contrary, its role is increasing and its meaning is expanding. Also the role of cooperation between science, the profession, political structures, and the public is increasing. The reason lies in the raising of comprehensiveness, interconnectivity and complexity of planning andimplementation of spatial development policies and developmental projects. Professional and formal determinations towards evidence-based planning both in the European territory and in Slovenia are obvious, and at the EU level also the ones related toimplementation.

Spontaneous afforestation is one of the biosystemic landscape change processes affecting landscape functioning. The process of overgrowing is highly dynamic, and the temporal dimension of changes in landscape structure can be of key importance for evaluating habitat suitability. A detailed study was carried out in the area of 19.52 km2 within the Pivka municipality, where land use is a mixture of traditional farmland, forests, and extended areas of abandoned former farmland with natural re-growth. In addition, this area is highly important for two bird species: the Barred Warbler (Sylvia nisoria) and the Red-backed Shrike (Lanius collurio). Both species are sensitive to forest spreading and prefer a mixture of extensive meadows with shrubs and hedgerows as their most suitable habitat. Digital BW orthophotos from the 1975 - 2000 period and colour digital orthophotos from 2009 have be enused for on screen digitizing of the EUNIS habitat classes. Indicators of landscape changes were derived from temporal based difference in the landscape structure (different structural indicators based on patch size, shape, distances and patch dynamics). All the details obtained were evaluated based on Earth observation data and GIS supported methods. The most valuable parts of the area for both species are, from a biodiversity point of view, the core forest areas and mixture of meadows with shrubs and hedgerows. Zaraščanje je dinamično in časovna dimenzija sprememb v krajinski zgradbi je lahko ključnega pomena za ocenjevanje primernosti habitatov. Podrobnejšo analizo smo izpeljali na 19,52 km2 izbrane površine v občini Pivka, kjer gre za prostor, kjer je raba zemljišč preplet tradicionalnih kmetijskih zemljišč, gozdov in obsežnih predelov zaraščajočih se kmetijskih površin. Poleg tega je to območje zelo pomembno za dve vrst ptic: pisano penico (Sylvia nisoria) in rjavega srakoperja (Lanius collurio). Obe vrsti sta občutljivi za širjenje gozda, saj je njun habitat preplet ekstenzivnih travnikov z grmičevjem in živicami. Za zaslonsko digitalizacijo habitatnih razredov EUNIS smo uporabili digitalne črno-bele ortofoto posnetke iz obdobja 1975 - 2000 in barvni digitalni ortofoto iz leta 2009. Trgovina je gospodarska dejavnost, ki se ukvarja s kupovanjem in prodajanjem. Za svoje poslovanje pa potrebuje zalogo. Diplomsko delo obravnava optimizacijo procesa obvladovanja zalog v trgovskem podjetju, konkretno prenovo procesa prevzemanja. Za dobro obvladovanje potrebujemo čim več podatkov o zalogah, njihovem gibanju, kako se prodajajo, kdaj in koliko nabavljamo, pri čemer morajo biti zaposleni čim bolj natančni. Trading is a economic branch that deals with buying and selling and for its business it needs supply. The diploma deals with optimization of Process optimization of supply handling in a trade company, concretely the renovation of acquisition process. For a good management we need as much possible information about supplies, their movement, how they are selling, when and how much should we purchase, where the employees should be more careful.

Združeni narodi so obdobje med letoma 2005 in 2014 označili za obdobje izobraževanja za trajnostni razvoj. Izobraževanje v tej smeri bo omogočilo spremembe v vedenju, kar bi zagotovilo svetlejšo prihodnost za sedanje in prihodnje generacije. Pomembno vlogo pri tem imajo tudi univerze, ki imajo velik pomen pri prenosu znanja v prakso. Namen diplomskega dela je bil ugotavljanje razumevanja trajnostnega razvoja med študenti geografije. Izvedena je bila kvantitativna raziskava, v kateri so bili anketirani študentje geografije na Filozofski fakulteti Univerze v Mariboru. Rezultati so pokazali, kaj o trajnostnem razvoju študentje že vedo, v kolikšni meri je po njihovem mnenju že vključen v študij geografije, kako sami prispevajo k večji trajnosti ter njihovi predlogi, kaj vse bi lahko naredili na Univerzi v Mariboru, da bi postala trajnostna. Njihovi predlogi so bili primerjani z dokumentom UM o trajnostnem razvoju. Prav tako so bili pri raziskovalnem delu razviti kriteriji za trajnostno pismenost z upoštevanjem in evalvacijo učnih načrtov geografije na mariborski Filozofski fakulteti. Z drugim delom raziskovalnega dela je bilo analizirano obstoječe stanje uresničevanja načel trajnostnega razvoja na Filozofski fakulteti. Izpostavljeni so bili problemi in podane konkretne spremembe, kako trajnostne vsebine vnesti v njeno delovanje, organizacijo in izvajanje vsakodnevnih aktivnosti. The United Nations General Assembly designate the decade 2005 – 2014 as the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development. Education for sustainable development enables changes in behaviour what brighter future for present and future generations ensure. Universities play an important role in education for sustainable development especially in transferring knowledge into action. The purpose of the thesis was to establish the understanding of sustainable development among students of geography. With a quantitative research the students of geography were surveyed. The results have shown students’ knowledge of sustainable development, the extent of sustainable topics in the curricula of geography, students’ contribution to a greater sustainability and their suggestions for improving sustainability at the University of Maribor. Their suggestions have been compared with the document of the University of Maribor on sustainable development. By considering and evaluating the curriculum of geography the indicators for sustainable literacy were developed. In the second part of the research the existing state of implementation of sustainable development at the Faculty of Arts was analysed. Problems were highlighted and concrete proposals on how to include sustainable development into the management of its internal activities and operations were introduced.

V sodobni družbi se pojavlja vprašanje kako meriti blaginjo, vendar je že sama opredelitev le-te težavna. Sestavljena je namreč iz različnih vidikov človekovega življenja, katere lahko izmerimo z objektivnimi in subjektivnimi kazalci. Diplomsko delo z naslovom »OECD-jev Indeks boljšega življenja« je sestavljeno iz teoreti-čnega in praktičnega dela. V teoretičnem delu bomo opisali koncept blaginje, izpostavili nekaj izbranih kazalcev za merjenje blaginje kot alternative BDP ter opisali delovanje OECD-ja na področju merjenja človekove blaginje. V praktičnem delu bomo predstavili dimenzije blaginje v sklopu Indeksa boljšega življenja, ki jih je OECD oblikovala po priporočilih Komisije za merjenje uspešnosti gospodarstva in družbenega napredka ter indikatorje, ki te dimenzije sestavljajo. A common question in modern society is how to measure well-being, although the defini-tion itself of well.being is a rather difficult one. Well-being consists of various aspects of human life, which can be measured with objective as well as subjective indices. Diploma thesis titled »OECD's Better Life Index« consists of theoretical and practical sec-tion. In the theoretical section, the concept of well-being is described, we are also focusing on some chosen indices for measuring well-being as an alternative measure to GDP, and describing OECD's work on measuring human well-being. In the practical section, we introduce well-being dimensions as a part of Better-Life Index, designed according to Commision for measuring economic performance and social pro-gress,and indicators that compose these dimensions.

V doktorski disertaciji smo se osredotočili na trajnostni razvoj v visokošolskih institucijah. Mnoge elitne univerze, predvsem ameriške so že prevzele načela trajnostnega razvoja in jih pričele vključevati v svoje dejavnosti (od upravljanja univerz do raziskovanja, izobraževanja in vsakodnevnih aktivnosti). V doktorski disertaciji smo z namenom vključevanja trajnostnega razvoja v strukturo, organizacijo in politiko univerze predstavili dva koncepta, Demingovo spiralo in družbeno ekologijo, ki smo jima sledili pri vključevanju trajnostnega razvoja na študijskem primeru Univerze v Mariboru. Pri Demingovi spirali smo se osredotočili na prvo (politika), drugo (operacije) in delno na tretjo (evalvacija) stopnjo. Ti koraki vključujejo vizijo, poslanstvo, ustanavljanje teles in aktivnosti trajnostne univerze. Prednost te metodologije je možnost nenehnega preverjanja in izboljševanja projekta trajnostne univerze. V kontekstu družbene ekologije smo se osredotočili na elemente, ki jih mora zadovoljiti trajnostna univerza in sistemski pristop, kar pomeni njeno vpetost v regionalno in globalno okolje. Rezultati naše raziskave so prikazali načela družbene ekologije kot smotrno ogrodje približevanju univerze trajnostnemu razvoju. S preudarnim načrtovanjem lahko univerze izboljšajo svoj okoljski odtis, zmanjšajo stroške in spodbudijo deležnike k družbeni odgovornosti. Z metodami družbene ekologije smo razpoznali izzive, ki se pojavljajo na Tehniških fakultetah. Mednje sodijo zmanjšanje vplivov na globalno segrevanje ozračja, upravljanje z odpadki in posodabljanje kurikuluma. Trajnostni razvoj na univerzi ni pomemben zgolj iz vidika upravljanja, ampak tudi iz vidika izobraževanja. Da bi lahko analizirali izobraževalne programe, smo v doktorski disertaciji izvedli študijo sistemske razvrstitve trajnostnih izrazov in definicij z namenom razviti osnovo oz. ogrodje za izboljšano, skladno in povezano izrazje, ki se navezuje na okoljsko tehniko in trajnostni razvoj. Študija zajema več kot petdeset okoljskih pojmov in definicij ter omogoča jasno in nedvoumno razlikovanje med posameznimi izrazi in njihovimi definicijami. Pri študiji izobraževanja za trajnostni razvoj smo pozornost namenili predvsem kurikulumom prve stopnje kemijske ter okoljske tehnike in tehnologije. Naša raziskava se je nanašala na raznolikost in pogostost trajnostno usmerjenih predmetov v kurikulumih kemijske in okoljske tehnike ter je pokazala, da v tem oziru nove članice EU prednjačijo pred državami predpristopnicami in državama prostega trgovinskega pretoka. V doktorski disertaciji smo se osredotočili tudi na učbenike, namenjene izobraževanju okoljskih inženirjev, ter ugotovili, da bi jih lahko izboljšali. Na osnovi raziskav smo zasnovali modul ter predmetnik druge stopnje Okoljske tehnike in trajnostnega razvoja. Oba temeljita na akreditacijskih merilih, tudi ameriških. Vzorec celotnega postopka priprave (pregled programov, preverjanje potrebnih kompetenc diplomanta in drugo), modul in predmetnik lahko služita kot vzorec pri pripravi novih ali posodabljanju že obstoječih programov. Za določitev okoljskega odtisa vsakodnevnih aktivnosti univerze smo uporabili metodo celostne ocene vplivov na okolje (LCA). Rezultati študije so razkrili vplive na okolje, ki prispevajo k izčrpavanju virov, tveganju za zdravje in drugim ekološkim posledicam. Najbolj dominanten vpliv na okolje predstavlja globalno segrevanje ozračja. Svetovni visokošolski prostor je tržno naravnan, zato se v svetu pojavlja veliko število globalnih in nacionalnih razvrstitvenih lestvic, vendar do sedaj še ni bila predstavljena razvrstitvena lestvica univerz, ki bi hkrati upoštevala raziskovalne, izobraževalne in okoljske oz. trajnostne dejavnike posamezne univerze. V disertaciji smo razvili metodologijo za razvrščanje univerz, ki je skladna z omenjenimi vidiki. Kot osnovo metodologije smo predlagali niz kazalcev, iz katerih smo izračunali sestavljeni kazalec, ki omogoča razvrščanje in predstavlja združeno informacijo o delovanju in r This dissertation introduces sustainable development at higher education institutions. Most of the universities, especially those in US have been taken over the concepts of sustainable development within several activities (from management to research, education and everyday life). Two concepts have been introduced (Deming spiral and social ecology) in order to include sustainable development into structure, management and policy of a university, which have been tested at the University of Maribor. A focus has been given to the first (policy), second (operations) and partially third (evaluation) stage of the Deming spiral, including a vision, mission, establishment of a new management structure, and other activities of a sustainable university. An advantage of this methodology is continuous improvement of project activities, such. In the context of the social ecology an emphasis has been given to the elements that have to be fulfilled when transferring a university into sustainable one. The results have shown that social ecology can present a suitable framework, when introducing sustainable development at the university. Social ecology practices have led to the recognition of possible improvements at the Engineering departments, such as decreasing the global warming potential, waste management and curriculum. With thoughtful planning universities can improve their environmental footprint, decrease the costs and stimulate stakeholders to behave in accordance with the social responsibility. Sustainable development at the university is not important only from the managerial point of view, but also from the educational one. In order to obtain a framework for educational studies, a study of sustainability terms and their definitions has been carried out. This study encompasses more than 50 terms and their definitions, which have been classified from the systems perspective and enables unambiguous usage of the terms and definitions. Education for sustainable development study has focused on curriculums of first cycle of chemical and environmental engineering / technology education. Research has been focused on the differences and commonalities of sustainable development courses and programmes, following the Bologna scheme. The research has revealed that new EU member states are in forefront when introducing sustainability within their curriculums. In this study a special emphasis has been given to the textbooks used for education of environmental and chemical engineers. This study reveals that textbooks have a room for improvement. Based on studies, a modul and curriculum for a second cycle of Bologna scheme, following the accreditation requirement of American Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology and Slovenian Accreditation Commission has been introduced. The methodology of curriculum establishment (review of the programmes, graduate competences, etc.) can be used as a pattern when preparing a new curriculums, moduls or simply improve the old programmes. Life cycle analysis has been used in order to obtain an environmental footprint of a university. The results have revealed that university has considerable impacts on its environment, leading to the depletion of natural resources, global warming, etc. World higher education area is market oriented. Therefore, a lot of global and national ranking lists exist, which try to rank universities from objective perspectives. Until now, a ranking list which includes also a sustainability perspective has not been introduced. In this dissertation a methodology for ranking universities from a sustainability perspective has been developed. A set of indicators has been proposed and used for the index development. This index enables ranking universities from three perspectives: research, educational and sustainability. Furthermore it enables identification of advantages and disadvantages of universities.
