This bachelors's thesis deals with the significance of sacraments as milestones in human's life. It describes the birth and beginning of life, including the Christian life as well as the development of baptism from times when this phenomenon was connected only with adults to today when mostly children are being baptized. This is followed by a chapter on the significance of ritualization life milestones in present days. The last chapter presents conducted research attempting to answer the question: "What leads people in a secularized society to demand the accompaniment of the church in the rituals associated with Christian life?"

This work follows up the interconnectedness of the theme of the water and other inseparable phenomena, including their symbolism and not only in the biblical and non-biblical texts but also in an interdisciplinary context (respectively with an overlap into the sphere of contemporary ecology using personal and professional experiences). The work can be framework divided into three blocks (general, biblical and ecological), including a brief exegesis of selected biblical texts.

The bachelor's thesis deals with baptism as a rite of passage. The theoretical part is divided into two main sections. The first section defines the ritual, its functions and species. It also characterizes a rite of passage and initiation rites. The second section deals with baptism. The thesis defines themeaning of baptism, its history, traditions, and brings the current form of baptism for children and the current form of baptism for adults. It describes in more detail why baptism belongs to the rites of passage. The practical part is based on research. It contains nine interviews with the respondents. The main goal of the research is to find out whether people consider baptism as a rite of passage, or whether they see baptism as a ceremony associated with the marginal life situation of the birth of a child.

The theses deals with the theme of pastoral meeting with parents requesting the baptism of a child, based on documents of the Magisterium for the Pastoral of Sacraments in the Vicariate of Kolín. The first part of the thesis deals with the most important documents of the Magisterium and the Pope Francis' speeches on the baptism of children. The aim of the second part of the theses is to investigate the state of putting the recommendations of the Magisterium's documents into practice in the Vicariate of Kolín. The research method is structured interview with the individual vicars of the vicariate. The data were classified into ten thematic areas. The final evaluation identifies the problems related to the implementation of the magisterium's documents into practice. The evaluation also proposes recommendations to address the problematic issues.

The diploma thesis on the topic "Spirituality of Young Romanies" disserts on spirituality amongst them. The spirituality is pursued in general and its levels, possibilities of saturation and ties to institutions are comprised. A chapter describing the history of the Romanies and phenomena associated with the spirituality of the Romanies is included. The aim of the thesis is to find out whether the phenomena are still relevant in connection with Romany religiosity and whether they differ in the Ústí nad Labem Region and in the East of Slovakia, where these traditions are still represented in the majority society. In my theses I also trace whether there is syncretism. For the practical part, I have chosen quantitative research with the technique of a questionnaire survey.

Baptismal Ceremonies of Christian Churches The diploma thesis Baptismal Ceremonies of Christian Churches deals with baptismal ceremonies of Roman Catholic Church, Greek Catholic Church, Orthodox Church and Czechoslovak Hussite Church; and Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren. The phenomenon of the baptismal sacrament will be taken in of historical view of baptismal ceremonies and itself in the process of baptismal liturgy. The thesis which is on the ground of historical studies and of contemporary forms of worship will demonstrate common and different elements of baptismal liturgy and to what extent the baptismal theology incorporated into ceremonies varies or resembles. This master's thesis named Seven Sacraments Reflection in Tobias Zavorka Lipensky's Liturgical Work, deals with the transcription and analysis of liturgical acts which reflect seven sacraments of the Catholic Church. The appropriate texts were taken from Zavorka's agenda The Rule of Church Service, the hymn-book The Songs of Divine Praise and the song-book Funeral Chanting. The master thesis begins with brief Zavorka's curriculum vitae of Zavorka, who was the neo-utraquistic priest and Dean of the region of Doubravnik, and a description of his works. The main focus of the thesis is to describe the specifics of the special or sacramental liturgical acts that demonstrate the character of Zavorka's theological and liturgical work.

The thesis "Sacraments in the documents of the second Vatican council" deals with selected articles of the individual constitutions, documents and decrees of the council, which concern sacraments in the theological context. The articles are selected from the constitution on the Sacred Liturgy Sacrosanctum concilium, constitution on the Church Lumen gentium, pastoral constitution Gaudium et spes, document about the Apostolate of the Laity Apostolicam actuositatem, decree on Ecumenism Unitatis redintegratio and the decree on the life and service of priests Presbyterorum ordinis. The thesis is based on the acts of council and it maps the progress of creating the articles. A brief summary of history of the formation of individual constitutions, documents and decrees is mentioned before the analysis of the articles. The chapters are divided by the documents. At the end of the thesis is a chapter containing important themes concerning the Sacraments that came up from the mapping of the article.

Celebration of the Lord's Supper with children. Theological assumptions and current practice in Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren. Summary This thesis researches the presence and participation of children at the Lord's Supper. The main aim of the thesis was to research whether also today it is possible to find understanding for the reception of children around the Lord's Table in Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren. First of all it was the issue, whether the participation of children at the Lord's Supper is sufficiently accepted in the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren. The first part is focused on the historical and theological background of the Lord's Supper, on the practice in the Old Testament and Apostolic times. This chapter deals with the question: What is the Lord's Supper and what is its meaning? The second part is devoted to the issue of children and their participation in the Lord's Supper. It focuses on the period from the Early Church through the Middle Ages to the Czech and World Reformation. This thesis focuses on the analysis of John the Baptist by using exegetical methods in the context of the gospel of Matthew. The thesis begins with a short introduction of the gospel of Matthew and the background of the analyzed texts Mt 3,1-12 (which deals with the activities of John the Baptist, the controversy between him and the Sadducees and Pharisees, and John's warning against the Last Judgment) and Mt 11,1-19 (which describes doubts concerning Jesus' mission, Jesus' confirmation of John's part, and the rejection of John's and Jesus' proclamations by the Jewish party). This part briefly summarizes the interpreted texts as well as the description, division, and broader framework of their background or parallel comparison of the synoptics. A translation of the verses from Greek to Czech follows which is accompanied by annotations, interesting facts, references to the peculiarities that arise from the translation, or differences among the Czech and other foreign translations of the Bible. Then comes the exegesis of the individual verses supplemented by findings acquired through research, followed by a summary of the chapter. The aim of this thesis is to collect, sort and describe the information about how to prepare for baptism. Another aim of the work is find a possible offer for the formation model of preparation for baptism currently, applicable to all can-didates for baptism. In the first part of this thesis are Described the various themes of baptism. Further is Described difference between the baptism of child and adult baptism. In this thesis is not omitted the question of baptism in Christ and baptism in the church. Chapter of the history tries to reflect the preparation for baptism in other periods of Christian history and consider the question preparation for baptism and her hints from the perspective of the New Testament. This thesis deals with rituals connected with childbirth in Bohemia and Moravia since the 17th century to the present. The first chapter describes the word ritual, especially the transition ritual, which is understood as a necessary assumption enabling the transition from one stage of life to the other. The next chapter presents the family and its development across the centuries from the traditional conception until the modern one. The family also plays an important role in education and in the child's integration into society - this is discussed in the third chapter. The fourth chapter maps the rituals connected with childbirth adhered to in the past. The fifth chapter continues analyzing the situation about current rituals. The last chapter compares the situation about the implementation of rituals in the past with the situation nowadays. It is concluded with the authors own research, which was based on real data collection.

The thesis deals with the search for the common features with the doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of of Latter Day Saints, Seventh Day Adventist Church and Jehovah's Witnesses religious communities. During the writing of my thesis has been used as a secondary scientific literature, and religious sources analyzed new religious movements.

The thesis focuses on the potential and benefits of pastoral care in perinatal child loss. Discussion of the main topic of the work is preceded by a definition of perinatal child loss, information on Dead Foetus Syndrome, an introduction to new-born palliative care at neonatal intensive and resuscitative care units, as well as a reference to the experience parents go through in the death of their own child. A brief introduction of the field of practical theology is followed by the characteristics of clinical pastoral care and the potentials for its practical application. Emphasis is placed on the fact that clinical pastoral care can benefit not only sick patients and their loved ones, but also healthcare workers who are often confronted with pain and suffering during the course of their work. This discussion is then followed by a brief mention of the three theological virtues (love, hope, and faith) that are an essential prerequisite to the efforts of pastoral workers. The topic is concluded with a chapter touching on eschatological perspectives, the importance of baptism, and hope for the salvation of children who pass away before having been baptised.

Rites of Christian Initiation in Byzantine and Roman Traditions. Outline of Comparison. The bachelor's thesis dwells on the rites of Christian initiation in two respective traditions: Slavonic-Byzantine and western - Roman. The author starts from a historical insight into the formation of celebration of the initiation rites from the New Testament praxis though ancient and medieval Church up to the development in last centuries. She notices changes in the celebration of Christian initiation made because of historical development or differences of rites related to various cultural settings. In the second part of the thesis, she tries to outline a comparison between current initiation rites - those of infants as well as those of adults - in both traditions. She studies the contemporary praxis from liturgical books and from other available sources in the Roman-Catholic Church as well as in the Greek-Catholic and Orthodox Churches in Eastern Europe. This diploma thesis called "The Reform of Baptism in the Czech Lands from the 15th to 17th Century: An Analysis of Liturgical Texts" is focused on comparation of liturgical texts dealing with baptismal liturgy. The main objects of my interest are Agenda created in our territory from the 15th to 17th Century. In the first part of the thesis there is a short outline of baptismal's liturgy evolution from the New Testament period to the Martin Luther's reform. In the next part there are presented domestic Agenda containing baptismal forms which are the main subject of this thesis. These Agenda comes from Roman Catholic church, from Utraquist church, three Agenda represented the evangelical type and the last item describes the baptism in Unitas Fratrum during the period of Lukáš Pražský. Purpose of the following work is to put near not only concrete course of wedding and baptismal ceremonies in provincial environment, it has also show of what role at these ceremonies played their immediate participants ? godfathers and wedding witnesses. Basic characteristic of all the sample recorded persons would be enable to answer questions if within small rural sociality existed its elite part which had fundamental share on its behaviour. The most important origin for research of this theme were church registers which for any single event namely recorded participation of the witness of baptism or marriage, his socio-profession position and geographical origin. Important role then played fact what particular requirements lay then society on men participating thus especial events. It was also explored question to what degree is possible thru godparents and wedding witnesses to peep into mentality and behaviour then rural sociality. Rating socio-vocational submission and place of origin of these persons emerged that the choice of witness of baptism or marriage wasn't casual and underlay to many established habits and rules. Especially at choice of godparents was more than evident that the important factor were to be familiar and well-disposed relationships within closest surroundings of every person. To men witnessing by weddings was distinctive their good property and social background, decisive role at selection of wedding witness also played possibility of representation newly married couple and their families in the eyes of others neighbours. By approach particular persons which postured in roles of witnesses or godparents most frequently was confirmed that also in rural environment subsisted small range of individuals which is possible to characterize as a local top of society. By setting this top of society into the total context allowed to achieve if and to what degree this very narrow group of inhabitants was segregate from the others. In terms of this research was more likely confirmed that the rural man was limited more by geographical than social territory. On the basis of informations about persons participating on baptisms or weddings is possible to assume that the individual parts of society were interconnected through a number of hidden familiar and friendly structures which were fundamental to its behaviour.

This work refers to the questions of dying and death during the baroque epoche and is mainly focused on children?s age. It reflects the view of death and dying, conception of good death, notions of eternal life and the funeral ceremony. Within the context of infant age it ? above all ? inquires into infantile mortality, the connection between breast-feeding and the measure of mortality and the importance of baptism. It appears from demographic research on family and draws attention to the relation between the high measure of natality and mortality. It tries to find out causes of infant mortality ? population undernourishment, absence of medical care, easy spread of contagious diseases, wars and demographic crises, female condition and employment. It also inquires into the parents? attitude towards children and their death, and tries to disclose their intellectual and emotional life, whereto the analysis of memoirs by Alžběta Lidmila from Lisov helps distinctively. In relation to mortality it also doesn?t pass the situation of natural children.

The work deals with finding the instructions of the bishops in Prague and the Pastoral Epistles Olomouc Archdiocese from 1948 - 1989. After a brief outline of the situation Church in the totalitarian era from 1948 to 1989, when the pastoral care of children and Youth was very difficult, the instructions are listed bishops. Instructions are divided into six topics. The first theme refers to the emergence of new priests occupations. The second theme is about the religious and family upbringing. The third theme is about teaching religion. The fourth theme is about christering and confirmation. The fifth theme is about preparation for confession and Holy Communion. A sixth theme is about the spending of holidays.

This bachelor thesis focuses on the birth of a child in the Czech family and society in the nineties of the twentieth century and at the beginning of the twenty-first century. The chapters and the subchapters are concerned with the periods connected with the birth of a child and are aimed at rituals, customs and activities connected with coming of a new life to the world. The thesis is divided into three main parts, pregnancy, childbirth and post-natal period. In the part Pregnancy we will look at how awaiting of a new life is reflected in the language, superstitions and various practices and what is necessary to do before the birth of a child, we will especially focus on the choice of a name and surname. In this part we can find the chapter on the preference for the sex of a child and on the values which the Czech society connects with a child. In the second part Childbirth we will look at the perception of childbirth as pain, at the course of childbirth and at the first things which are necessary to do after the birth of a child. The chapters on maternity, fatherhood and family were also put to this part since the birth of a child creates a new, lifelong relationship between a child and his/her parents. The birth and the baptism of child were significant events in the life of people in all historical periods. This diploma thesis demonstrates meaning of the baptism rite and its reflection in the urban society in the Early Modern Age. In comparison to bachelor thesis was used more sources. The research of six families memoirs is supplied with analysis of parish register of Český Krumlov town from 1662 to 1666. Sources of religious area represents catholic, evangelical and Lutheral clerical works and especially polemics. Wider spectrum of sources made possible deeper sight at meaning of baptism and confrontation between religious order and everyday practice in baptism and godparenthood in towns in the 16. and 17. centuries.
