Abstract

De antid. 1. 3 is of interest in three respects : Galen explains his father's clever method of wine ageing, and, to this end, he does not only explain the fittings of his apotheke with precision, but he describes also in great detail the layout of the pergamenian farmhouse, and he gives us invaluable information on asiatic and italian wines (Pergamon and Campania). Critical and exegetical examination of this important digression in the light of loca similia, firstly galenic texts (De bonis malisque suris, De simpl. med. fac, In Hippocr. Aphor.), in addition to which we must consider Athenaeus' evidence (26c-27d)., L'intérêt de De antidotis 1. 3 est triple : en exposant l'ingénieuse méthode mise au point par son père pour conserver ses vins, Galien non seulement est amené à décrire avec précision les aménagements de son apothèque et, par voie de conséquence, la structure de la maison rurale pergaménienne, mais encore il fournit de précieux renseignements sur les vins d'Asie (Pergame) et d'Italie (Campanie entre autres). Examen critique et exégétique de cette longue digression à la lumière des textes parallèles, en première ligne ceux de Galien (De bonis malisque suris, De simpl med.fac, In Hippocratis aphorismos) auxquels s'ajoute le témoignage d'Athénée (26c-27d)., Jacques Jean-Marie.
