- Abstract
The game represents a didactic tool that significantly enriches mathematical learning in the second year of Basic General Education. Through the game, an attractive learning environment is created that affects the ability to apply knowledge creatively and effectively. The present research aims to design a system of activities based on the game for the development of numerical thinking in second-year students of the Juan León Mera Basic Education School. The research uses a mixed approach, combining qualitative and quantitative methods. A system of activities based on the game was designed for the development of numerical thinking in the second year of EGB. The implementation of the proposal was carried out on 32 students in the second year of the Juan León Mera Basic Education School. The results allowed to verify that the system of activities based on the game promoted the development of numerical thinking in second-year EGB students. In the conclusions of the study, quantitative growth was evident in the results obtained before and after implementing the system of activities proposed in the research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Play has been underrepresented in studies of Andean communities, together with the children who are its protagonists. This article, part of a larger ethnographic study, reviews and analyzes manifestations of play in rural localities of the province of Yauyos. It aims to interpret the role of play and reevaluate its importance. With the support of numerous descriptions of places of play, toys, the actors, their motivations and relations, it examines the presence of a "rhetoric of progress" and a "rhetoric of power" in Yauyos children's play. Play constitutes a dominion where the agency of boys, girls, and adolescents emerges with special clarity. The result is the structuring of a child's society that incorporates alliances and cooperation as well as conflicts and exclusions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

VOLLEYBALL players , *SELF-efficacy , *ONE-way analysis of variance - Abstract
The positions athletes play on the court have different requirements for the optimal performance of the players. However, no studies have yet examined volleyball to determine whether there are differences in athletes' self-efficacy depending on the position they play. Therefore, the study aimed to analyze the differences in self-efficacy according to the volleyball players' positions, specifically, whether a defensive (libero) position is associated with self-efficacy to a greater degree than offensive positions (e.g., attack players [hitters]). The sample was 300 high-performance volleyball athletes (Mage = 24.88 years, SD = 5.51; 55% male) with a mean practice time of 11.07 years (SD = 5.24). The Volleyball Self-Efficacy Scale was administered, and a one-way analysis of variance and a Tukey post hoc test was conducted to observe differences in levels of self-efficacy. The results showed that, in general, the self-efficacy dimensions and global self-efficacy in volleyball discriminated the athletes according to their positions. Differences in three dimensions were highlighted: Dimension 1, Self-Efficacy in the Game; Dimension 2, Defensive Self- Efficacy in Volleyball; and Dimension 3, Offensive Self-Efficacy in Volleyball. In D1, higher self-efficacy values were observed in the setters; in D2, higher self-efficacy values were observed in the liberos; and in D3, higher self-efficacy values were observed in the attackers, mainly opposite hitters. Overall, the results revealed differences in athletes' responses to the self-efficacy dimensions of the scale, which differentiated the players according to the particularities of their positions and demonstrated that, in certain positions, more than one type of efficacy is needed to achieve high performance.

Abstract This paper begins with a basic premise: in architecture, real freedom means inventing one’s own rules. It then considers the thinking of the modern architect who probably embodies this tenet best: Le Corbusier. Freedom in the sense of being unfettered by academic norms, as a principle of legality for modern projects, and as the basis and subject of the free plan complete an analysis that focuses on the nature of the architectural project whilst looking further afield in search of a common denominator in the execution of artistic practice. The paper ends by presenting a notion of disciplined freedom far removed from the absolute subjectivity and simplicity of a theoretical practice of architecture bereft of rules or constraint.

For Cultural-Historical Psychology, written language is a complex symbolic system responsible for a significant qualitative leap in the historical development of the human psyche by representing, through very specific signs, the structure of oral language and the organization of thought. Trying to overcome the separation between alphabetization and literacy, within the limits of a cognitive and neuroscientific conception of reading, this article analyzes a field study carried out with preschoolers that were playing during the construction of a forest. During the activity, the children needed to express themselves through written language, like primitive men in their caves. In this way, this study aims to make a scientific contribution to the role of written language in Early Childhood Education, a subject that is still so controversial. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
This article presents the findings of a master's research aimed at comprehending the cultural expressions of children aged 3 to 4 within playful contexts during their return to a daycare center within the Municipal Education Network of Santo André (São Paulo). An ethnographic approach is used, drawing from Sociology of Childhood and Pedagogy of Childhood. Data collection employed participant observation, field diary entries, filming, photography, and interviews with class educators as data generation tools. For data analysis, the content method was employed, utilizing Laurence Bardin's categorical analysis technique. The outcomes underscore the potency of children as culture creators, achieved through collective reelaboration alongside their peers. Additionally, the study highlights that while the theme of Covid-19 minimally appears in the children's games, family dynamics and media/literature references surfaced more frequently. However, these results do not imply that the children remained unaffected by events or that these events did not influence their lives. As per the educators interviewed, the return to face-to-face interactions in 2021 necessitated the relearning of communal living and play. In conclusion, this research underscores the pivotal role of daycare centers as educational spaces that promote interaction and play, provided educators attentively heed children's expressions and critically reflect on their practices. - Abstract
The aim of the study was to design and determine the psychometric properties of an instrument to analyze sexual dimorphism in play preferences in a preschool population. A total of 231 children between 3 and 6 years of age participated. An exploratory factor analysis showed a scale with three factors. There are significant differences in the choice of male and female games. In male games, the results at 4 and 6 years of age indicate that boys show a greater predilection for these games than girls (p=.002, Cohen's d=1.031 and p<.001, Cohen's d=1.435). At ages 5 and 6, girls show a greater predilection for female games (p=.014, Cohen's d=.665 and p=.049, Cohen's d=.574) than boys. In conclusion, the psychometric analyses provide evidence of validity and reliability of the questionnaire, which can be used to analyze play behavior from 3 to 6 years of age. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

LIFE cycles (Biology) , *ANARCHISM , *ARCHIVAL materials , *LOCAL foods , *ANARCHISTS , *HISTORIANS - Abstract
In Argentina, historians have made important contributions to our understanding of the relationship between childhood and leftist politics. Despite this, our conception of 'anarchist childhoods' - and of what could be called the 'anarchist life cycle' - remains relatively limited. Therefore, this article examines the interactions between children and adults in the Argentine anarchist movement and delves into the ways in which anarchists understood childhood. The analysis focuses on the city of Rosario de Santa Fe, drawing on the contemporary press, and archival material produced by the local authorities and activists of the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries. The central contribution of this work is its definition of anarchist pedagogy and parenting as forms of 'prefigurative politics': encapsulating the ideals of the movement, they became means of constructing, in the present, the future anarchist society. ROLE playing , *GAMIFICATION , *EDUCATIONAL games , *QUALITATIVE research , *EDUCATORS - Abstract
In recent years, gamification has been increasingly mentioned as an innovative methodology to achieve meaningful and dynamic learning. Role-playing game-based strategies fall into this category. The aim of this work is to explore the benefits, possible uses and problems that they present, in order to have a more precise perspective on their use. Toward achieving this objective, qualitative research has been carried out based on in-depth interviews with two educators who use this methodology. The results confirm both the feasibility and the potential benefits of this didactic approach. The influence of the context and the additional time and workload involved in carrying out this type of project were also highlighted. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
