This article aims to scrutinise the job markets and the impacts on jobs due to quite new themes which the world has witnessed, such as rise of illiberal democracies, trade wars between nations, artificial intelligence and big data. It is quite interesting to see the impact of ideologies of states on the jobs they create. Artificial intelligence is going to be a huge disruptor and so is managing of big data by companies. Based on the secondary data already available and the literature review, this article argues that job markets get impacted by the ideology of states, which in turn leads to trade wars. In a similar breath, data show that artificial intelligence and big data are going to create new 'haves' and 'have-nots' in the world. The answer to this problem lies in regulating the artificial intelligence climate and bringing in new rules for the game where big players operate, which amass humongous data. Rules should be framed in a way so that digitally deprived people do not lose their jobs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BUREAUCRACY ,LABOR market ,JOB vacancies ,INFRASTRUCTURE (Economics) ,THEMATIC analysis - Abstract
This study investigates the challenges and opportunities in infrastructure development, inequality, and employment in Sub-Saharan Africa. There is a critical gap between infrastructure planning and execution, exacerbated by inadequate funding, bureaucratic hurdles, and a lack of technical expertise, leading to profound inequality in infrastructure and employment opportunities, particularly affecting rural and marginalized communities. The study aims to identify the mismatch between current job market needs and the workforce's skills, analyse the impact of rapid population growth and insufficient educational initiatives, and propose solutions for integrated infrastructure planning and equitable policy development. This research employs qualitative semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis using NVivo to gain in-depth insights into the institutional characteristics influencing infrastructure development, inequality, and employment. Findings reveal significant disparities in infrastructure and employment opportunities, with rural and marginalized communities being disproportionately affected. There is a notable mismatch between job market needs and the available workforce skills, further complicated by rapid population growth and inadequate educational initiatives. The study recommends an integrated approach to infrastructure planning that encompasses sustainability, accessibility, and equitable distribution. Policies should address inequality, ensure equitable access to infrastructure benefits, and align education and skill development with the evolving job market. Leveraging public–private partnerships is also suggested to accelerate infrastructure development efficiently. This paper contributes to the discourse on infrastructure, inequality, and employment in Sub-Saharan Africa, providing a roadmap for addressing these intertwined challenges through integrated policy initiatives. Recent research in political science has uncovered and theorized about inequalities within the field. In this article, we explore a lesser publicly discussed difference that likely affects the research process: start-up funding. We surveyed assistant professors in US political science departments about their start-up packages, and we find that characteristics of the institution, prestige of the researcher's PhD alma mater, and having competing offers predict receiving a start-up fund at all and receiving more research money in that start-up fund. The evidence also suggests that women's offers are more sensitive to alma mater prestige, with women from the least prestigious alma maters receiving less funding than men from similarly ranked schools. Notably, publishing more does not seem to help women or men, suggesting that women from low-prestige departments in particular cannot work their way out of this disadvantage. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The authors consider the increasing unemployment rate for fresh graduates from business administration majors in developing countries, such as Oman. The abilities and skills students need to obtain employment after graduating from postsecondary education institutions are the subject of this study. The aim of this study was to identify the skills required by the Omani labor market as well as the employability skills gap among recent business administration graduates. The relevance of this study relies on proposing an evaluation model to assess the skills required by employers, specifically in the private sector, from fresh graduates of business schools. The authors adopted a quantitative research method to achieve the study’s objectives. The data were collected through a survey which was distributed to 101 fresh graduates from two higher education institutions. The findings reveal that soft skills, such as problem-solving, teamwork, dedication to work, a positive attitude, leadership, communication, critical thinking, negotiation, and pursuit of learning, are the most needed by graduates in all aspects. The study concluded that there is a demand for different types of soft and technical skills that are important for future jobs in the private sector. The study recommends more collaboration between universities and various stakeholders to review current academic programs and design more professional and vocational training programs. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the promotion of an entrepreneurial mindset to prepare graduates to develop creative business ideas and innovation to create their jobs.

PSYCHOLOGY of students ,SOFT skills ,STUDENT attitudes ,ARTIFICIAL intelligence ,GENDER inequality - Abstract
Considering current challenges such as the complexities of 21st century life and the rise of artificial intelligence, integrating soft skills into Moroccan higher education has become essential. Despite the increasing focus on this area of research, there are few studies that examine soft skills and employment in Morocco. This study therefore examines undergraduates' comprehension of soft skills and their perspectives concerning those most essential for enhancing employability. It also seeks to explore whether there are significant disparities in students' perceived significance of soft skills based on gender, as well as whether gender influences students' perspectives on the most vital soft skills for employment. Data were gathered from 111 students hailing from the Faculty of Letters and Humanities and the Faculty of Science in the Moroccan region of Casablanca-Settat, representing various academic disciplines. Utilizing an online questionnaire developed from prior literature, the study uncovered intriguing findings. The study found students not only recognize the significance of soft skills required for employment but also are generally aware of these skills. The five soft skills deemed essential by students for bolstering employment included communication, time management, work ethics, positive attitude, and willingness to learn. Furthermore, statistical analyses found noteworthy disparities in students' perspectives based on gender, with females showing a preference for soft skills for employment and deeming these skills as important as hard ones, in contrast to their male counterparts. Regarding the most critical skills for employment, gender-based disparities were evident. Females exhibited a heightened appreciation for skills such as time management, willingness to learn, engagement in small group discussions, and maintaining a positive attitude. In light of these findings, this study holds significant implications for the education system in Morocco, particularly in terms of integrating and prioritizing soft skills development. The number of unemployed computer science graduates has increased significantly over the last few years. The primary reason for this problem is the skill gap between the graduates and what is required on the job market. The current study aims to address the challenge of aligning the skills of computer science graduates with the evolving demands of the job market. To achieve this objective, the current research leverages Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) techniques to predict the skills required by employers and those possessed by graduates. The dataset used in this study has been carefully curated and annotated by experts in the field. It entails 18 features that capture various aspects of a graduate’s skillset, such as programming languages, technical expertise, and soft skills. Additionally, the dataset includes information on the most common job positions in the computer science industry (i.e. a total of 8 roles). A sample size of 3,831 computer science graduates was sourced from alumina surveys and reputable hiring agencies. The dataset provides a comprehensive view of the skills landscape in the computer science domain. Several ML classifiers, ensemble methods, and DL approaches were utilized in a series of experiments. The correlations and important skills and jobs in the market were given focus. The experimental results indicate that support vector machines and neural networks achieved high accuracies of 82% and 88%, respectively. By analyzing the results, this study seeks to uncover patterns and trends that can guide the development of educational programs and curricula, ensuring they are aligned with the evolving needs of the industry. GRADUATE education , *MARKET segmentation , *LABOR market , *SATISFACTION , *HIGHER education - Abstract
The opinions of students constitute valuable information to be taken into account in university management. In this study, university satisfaction is analyzed, by means of a proxy variable (intention to repeat the same university course) following a holistic approach that analyses its relation with socio-demographic characteristics of the university, university experience, and information on postgraduates and their employment situation. Data from the Instituto de Estadistica Nacional de España (National Institute of Statistics of Spain) are employed, with a sample of over 30,000 graduates. Graduate satisfaction profiles are identified using the classification tree technique, as are the variables with greater discriminatory power that explain the intention of a student to repeat the same university course (employment situation, geographical zone, scientific discipline, and scholarships, particularly Erasmus grants); as well as the segments of university graduates. The information leads us to present recommendations for taking decisions in the field of education, general policy, territorial policy, and the management of each university. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

HUMAN skin color , *CORPORATE culture , *SOCIAL change , *FAMILY policy , *BLACK people - Abstract
The management of skin color diversity (racism), to take new directions, requires cultural and cognitive changes in administrative processes in order to resolve difficulties in the recruitment process and people management policies; valuing the family; reorganization of job and salary policy; discussion groups; transparency in recruitment processes to recognize and implement diversity. In view of this, the aim of this work is to deal with black people in leadership positions, considering and problematizing the importance of inclusion, in this sense, the methodology used is a qualitative bibliographical research, based on authors who discuss the topic. It is concluded that black professionals often feel limited in the opportunity to express their values or dedicate themselves fully to work, due to unwelcoming organizational cultures. This phenomenon has consequences for organizations that lose high-potential black leaders with losses in leadership, effectiveness, business culture and competitive advantage that accompanies diverse perspectives. We analyse the extent, growth and spatial distribution of knowledge-intensive employment in the Brussels Capital region and larger Brussels metropolitan area and compare it to its neighbouring geographical entities. We look at its impact on total employment, using both econometric and input-output analysis. Close to one out of two jobs in Brussels can be regarded as knowledge intensive. Over the period 2008-2020, the compound annual growth rate of knowledge-intensive employment was highest in the surrounding Brussels functional metropolitan area. A strong concentration of several knowledge services can be found in the Brussels metropolitan area, with different location patterns. Finance remains very central in the Brussels metropolitan areas, while others favour peripheral location, as it is the case for the pharmaceutical and accounting industry. A negative total employment growth rate differential between Brussels and the rest of Belgium is due to an industry-mix effect. Each additional knowledge intensive job in Brussels can be associated with the creation of another two jobs. For jobs generated by knowledge intensive sectors, forty percent of the extra employment within Brussels is accruing to less knowledge intensive labour.

BackgroundThe current workforce demands that nursing graduates possess the necessary skills and knowledge to perform in complex clinical and professional environments. Career guidance can potentially improve students’ job readiness by increasing their confidence in career pursuits, simplifying career decisions, and helping them address decision-making challenges.MethodsThis phenomenological study aimed to explore nursing students and interns’ perspectives on the effectiveness of the Career Guidance and Counseling Program (CGCP) and its impact on their readiness for the job market through their lived experiences while participating in the program. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews with a purposive sample of 28 Saudi university students and continued until data saturation was reached. Thematic analysis was used for the data analysis.ResultsSeven themes emerged: personal experiences with the CGCP, the program’s importance, effectiveness, benefits, strengths, and weaknesses, and recommendations for improvement. Overall, participants expressed gratitude for the CGCP and believed that it would positively impact their future career success. They also felt that the program provided them opportunities to share ideas, information, and concerns, thereby improving their career decision-making and adaptability.ConclusionThe results show that CGCP positively affected participants’ lives by providing support, guidance, and resources for informed career decision-making, developing essential career-related skills, and navigating career transitions. These findings have practical implications for nursing colleges implementing similar programs for better integration into the curriculum and for the continuity of such vital programs to help students. Future studies should explore this topic in different colleges and specialties.

Abstract Career and technical education (CTE) is considered a key academic pathway for sustainable careers in several high-growth industries. However, African–American employees are underrepresented in these industries. Historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) may represent invaluable options to address this inequality. Our analysis of the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) suggests that HBCUs provide fewer CTE options than a matched sample of non-HBCUs. The most commonly available CTE programs appear in less than one-quarter of HBCUs, and nearly one-quarter of CTE industries are unrepresented. Although some programs are well-positioned to address African–American employee underrepresentation, others are completely absent. Findings connecting HBCU CTE programs to occupations with high projected growth or living wage salaries are also mixed. Overall, these results may be informative for academic policymakers, administrators, and students.

- Abstract
Objectives: To create optimal oral and overall community health, dental public health (DPH) specialists must be competent and appropriately skilled to deal with contemporary and emergent public health issues. This study aims to evaluate the current job market demands related to the DPH profession and suggest contemporary skills and qualities that would enable DPH professionals to address emerging issues more effectively in their field. Methods: A multimethod qualitative study was conducted involving two distinct groups: employers and potential employees. Interviews of stakeholders (employers) representing different job market domains, and a survey was administered to recent DPH residency graduates (employees). Qualitative analysis was applied to the data collected. Results: Employers identified the following skills as crucial for future DPH employees: proficiency in care delivery systems, health informatics, clinical training, leadership, and professional and grant writing skills. Many employers assumed the presence of a clinical component in the residency program. DPH residency graduates emphasized that the most significant barrier to securing positions is the lack of clinical experience within the residency program. Conclusions: This research highlights skills currently valued by the DPH job market and proposes that DPH specialty training may consider revising its curriculum to include these skills. Implementing such updates would ensure that graduates are well equipped and competitive, thus significantly contributing to the broader objective of attaining optimal oral health and overall well‐being of the community. - Abstract
The article aims to analyze the possible formation of a precarious labor market, which is supported by the State itself. It contains both prison labor and free workers. The latter are shown to have low pay and contracts that, in their execution, end up violating various social rights, while prison labor generates meager gains and the assumption of various risks of economic activity by the State itself, as decided in ADPF 336/DF in the year 2021. To this end, it was necessary to study how the panoptic surveillance system operates both in the work of inmates and the discipline imposed by public-private partnerships with prison establishments, whose objective is, primarily, profit. Furthermore, regarding free workers, it appears that this same surveillance system belongs to the ideology that permeates the employment contract, which, in turn, also dictates values to the most varied relationships that exist in today's society. As it goes beyond the canons of labor law and requires interdisciplinarity in the study of the issue, which involves, in addition to criminal law, also sociology and economics, the bibliography pertinent to the topic was deductively analyzed in order to establish hypotheses regarding the possible consequences of state sponsorship in promoting the widespread precariousness of a niche in the labor market, which was confirmed with the right to work created in the form of an exception, as well as the decision permeated by the ultra-liberal ideology that can be seen in the judgment of ADPF 336/DF, which did not pay attention to the economic consequences arising from this, which, ultimately, could undermine not only the social value of work, but also free enterprise, by allowing unfair competition between those who explore economic activity. Artificial intelligence has become a powerful tool of innovation that has significantly impacted various areas of business, including human resource management. This study aims to analyse how artificial intelligence has been adopted and contributes to improving the recruitment and selection process in companies in Timișoara, Brașov and București. We investigate how AI is reshaping the job market by altering demand for certain skills and creating new professional roles, and the implications of AI on personal data protection within the recruitment and selection domain. By employing semi-structured interviews with HR and AI professionals, the study captures nuanced insights into the practical implications of AI in the workforce. Results indicate that AI significantly streamlines the recruitment process, enhancing efficiency and potentially reducing biases. However, concerns regarding data privacy and the depersonalization of the hiring process have been noted. Conclusions suggest that while AI can revolutionize recruitment and selection, a balance must be struck between technological benefits and human-centric approaches to workforce management. The study advocates for ongoing dialogue between HR and AI fields to navigate the ethical and practical complexities of AI in recruitment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

JOB analysis ,JOB titles ,INFORMATION science ,LABOR market ,JOB qualifications - Abstract
The analysis of job advertiseme nts reflects the expectations of employers regarding job responsibilities and qualifications for graduates to enter the Job market. This method gives students and planners the opportunity to include appropriate training in the development of university course topics in their field. Therefore, the purpose of the current research is to investigate job opportunities in the field of knowledge and information science in the world and to match the topics of university courses in this field in Iran. The current research is applied in terms of purpose and qualitative in terms of data collection method, which was done with systematic review technique. Articles were retrieved from two important scientific databases (Scopus and Web of Science) by following Prisma’s preferred instructions for reviewing research literature and after screening and entering the study in terms of research purpose, job titles, subject headings in the articles, society purpose, the type of organization that the research is about, and the access space were investigated. The statistical population is covered by texts that were published in English language during 1923 to 2023. After searching the databases and retrieving 11,968 documents, cleaning and removing the overlapping items was done. And finally, 223 document related to job opportunities and skills in the field of knowledge and information science were selected. There are various job opportunities available to graduates of knowledge and information science. However, despite the job growth in this field and according to the content analysis of the headlines compiled by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology in Iran, although they cover some job titles to some extent, this amount is not enough. The findings show that the job titles found with them were classified into seven job categories including: technical service positions, information service positions, research positions, educational positions, information and communication technology positions, reference positions, and management skills. The results showed that although the topics related to computer science and programming are among the topics needed to respond to the job market with regard to job titles, these topics are not sufficiently developed in the courses of knowledge and information science. In general, the results show the need to revise the content of the beginning of the chapter of university courses to provide the expertise and qualifications needed for graduates, one of the main gaps in the bachelor’s degree, then master’s degree and doctorate in this field in Iran. Expanding the curriculum with an interdisciplinary approach and using new technologies to develop skills in this area is a viable idea. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The research was meticulously designed to investigate the impact of self-efficacy, job market considerations, financial rewards, and tax volunteer programs on students' interest in a career as a tax consultant. This study, based on quantitative primary data from questionnaire responses rated on a five-Likert scale, is a testament to the rigor of our research methodology. The research population comprises students from the Faculty of Economics and Universities in Surabaya who have participated in tax volunteering. The non-probability sampling technique, specifically the purposive sampling method, was employed to obtain 125 samples. The research data was rigorously analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling – Partial Least Square. The findings of this research underscore the influence of self-efficacy and job market considerations on students' desire for a career as a tax consultant. On the other hand, the influence of financial rewards and tax volunteer programs on students' interest in a career as a tax consultant was found to be negligible. Potential for future research to broaden the scope of respondents and to include additional independent variables such as tax brevet training, offers hope for a more comprehensive understanding of the factors that influence student career interest.

Introduction: In the contemporary globalized and interconnected landscape, technical students pursuing successful career paths must possess indispensable employability skills. This paper acknowledges the shifting demands within the job market, where mere technical expertise may no longer suffice. Objective: In response to this imperative, the study suggests the implementation of a Task-Based methodology, wherein students actively engage in genuine, real-world assignments that mimic the professional challenges they are likely to encounter in their future careers. These practical tasks serve as catalysts for developing employability skills. Moreover, this approach incorporates the integration of Intercultural Competence into the educational framework. This adaptation recognizes the growing diversity within workplaces and aims to equip technical students with the competencies needed. Intercultural Competence encompasses cultural awareness, empathy, communication abilities, and proficiency in working harmoniously within multicultural teams. Methods: This research adopts a quantitative approach, where an online questionnaire is distributed via Google Forms to assess the effectiveness of the Task-Based Approach through Intercultural Competence. The study examines a sample size of 500 technical students from selected colleges in Madhya Pradesh. The statistical technique employed for analysis is Linear Regression in the SPSS software, enabling the exploration of correlations and variations among independent and dependent variables. Results: The results show that there is a high correlation between the variables, as well as showing the significance of the model. Considering the limitations of the study, the benefits of implementing a task-based approach through Intercultural Competence are evident. The challenge may include designing culturally relevant tasks, ensuring that faculty members are adequately trained to facilitate intercultural learning, and assessing students' progress in the areas of technical and transversal competencies. Conclusion: Overall, this study underscores the significance of Task-Based learning and Intercultural Competence in nurturing employability skills among technical students, thereby making a meaningful contribution to their personal and professional advancement.

This study looks at how the present skills need, the dynamic labor market shifts in the Philippines, and the academic programs promoted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) connect. The study uses document analysis, guided by Cleary et al.'s (2017) Skills Alignment approach, to link high-demand skills and key economic sectors with CHED's prioritized programs. Using the most recent Labor Market Information reports and the CHED Memorandum Order No. 10, series of 2021, the results show that engineering, IT education, and business degrees significantly aligned with the digital economy, in-demand employment, and rising industries. Nonetheless, there are gaps where specific jobs tangentially align with the initiatives that CHED prioritizes. This paper offers suggestions on how to better align academic programs with the changing needs of the labor market.

Objective: compare the levels of cultural capital inherited from the family among quota and non-quota students from Brazilian federal universities and analyze its influence on the occupation and remuneration of graduates. Theoretical framework: the sociological literature points out that students from low-income families (such as quota holders) lack cultural capital inherited from the family and this can negatively affect their opportunities in the job market. Methods: we applied an electronic questionnaire to 11,458 graduates from 248 undergraduate courses and 18 Brazilian federal universities. We created the levels of cultural capital of graduates based on a factor analysis, carried out through a combination of variables such as parents’ education and frequency of consumption of cultural goods by students before entering university. We compared the averages obtained for cultural capital between quota and non-quota students through Student’s t-test, and through multinomial logistic regression, we analyzed the influence of this cultural capital on the occupation and remuneration of graduates. Results: the results suggest that quota student graduates have lower levels of cultural capital before entering the federal university than non-quota student graduates. However, the results suggest little influence of this cultural capital for occupational and salary gains in the labor market. Conclusions: the results highlight the relevance of the quota policy of federal universities for the sociocultural and socioeconomic inclusion of quota students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SYNOPSIS: This study explores the use of online toxic communication and how it impacts perceptions of DEI in the accounting academic community. During a recent job market season, we observed the use of toxic communication, including racism, sexism, and hate speech, in the form of anonymous posts made to two online job market forums. Using qualitative methods, including analysis of the online forums and a survey of job market participants, we find that forum language implies that unqualified candidates receive preferential treatment in the job market based on their race or gender, often referring to these individuals as "diversity hires." Forum language also states that candidates from historically marginalized communities face discrimination in this process. Importantly, we find that toxic communication negatively impacts candidates' views of DEI within the accounting academy. Overall, this study serves as a call to action to leadership to identify and denounce toxic communication within our community. JEL Classifications: M40; M49. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Innate talent and orientation toward hard work are highly important personal attributes with respect to workers' productive capabilities. In this research, we identify a discrepancy between job candidates and recruiters in their relative valuation of these two attributes. Although innate talent is valued relatively more by job candidates than recruiters, the opposite is true for orientation toward hard work. We propose that the discrepancy is rooted in a misalignment of the fundamental motivations of the two parties in the job market. In seven studies (four preregistered), which include randomized trial experiments and quasi-experiments and use real life recruiters and job seekers (across a total of 112 industries) as participants, we provide evidence of the current effect and its underlying mechanism. Studies 1A–1C demonstrate the negative consequence of the discrepancy on job market efficiency, showing that it can lead candidates to adopt impression management strategies that lower their chance of getting the job. Studies 2A and 2B show that full-time workers consider career potential to be associated with both innate talent and hard work but position performance to be more strongly associated with hard work than innate talent. Finally, Studies 3A and 3B indicate that candidates are relatively more career-focused, whereas recruiters are relatively more position focused and that this difference in their relative focus mediates the current discrepancy. Implications of the present research for both job candidates and recruiters are discussed. This study aimed to highlight the significance of Summary translation in academic and professional contexts. We introduced a brief definition of other types of translations to make out the dissimilarity, and then we focused on Summary translation within a full process through three samples. The first ones embody professional situations from Public service and Industrial fields of application, the third one is delivered as an academic general text. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the contribution of Summary translation in developing the analytical/synthetical skills of the students through a cognitive process handled by the Interpretive Theory of Translation. The findings determined the significant contribution of a Summary translation in preparing the students to the job market; we also pointed out the behavior of students towards a Summary translation compared to a full transfer, and how to settle any related issue. Accordingly, we proposed a well-structured method to conduct a practical course in the classroom, and we ended by sustaining the use of Summary translation in the job market, for it increases the material and immaterial income of the employers and the employees.

Taking that higher education is career-oriented, this study examines how Vietnamese undergraduate students engage with their study and how the factors related to the training program and occupation’s prospects contribute to students’ engagement with their study. The study applies a mixed-method approach. Self-administered questionnaire survey is used to collect data from 973 Vietnamese undergraduate students, of which 48.2% are social work students and 51.8% are non-social work students. In addition, the study conducts 27 semi-structured interviews with students and lecturers to explore their perspective and experiences with regard to students’ study engagement and the factors involved. The results show that social work students are more engaged with their study than non-social work students, even though they feel more worried about job opportunity and income. Approximately one-third of social work students consider not to pursue social work profession when they graduate mostly because they believe that working in social work cannot provide them the income they need for their living. However, the results also show that students’ satisfaction/dissatisfaction with income in their field was not statistically related to their study engagement. Instead, feeling of personal growth, opportunity to perform personal ability, sense of significance, convenient access to study materials and activities, and feeling proud of their school and lecturers’ prestige are found positively associated with students’ level of study engagement. The study hence provides some recommendations for educators to strengthen students’ study engagement at higher education level.

This explorative study investigated students’ (N=16) perceptions before and after the study unit Digital Analytics and Consumer Insights. The studies were conducted as an intensive hybrid five-day design sprint, a variant of project- and problem-based learning. An online questionnaire with a 5-point Likert scale was used for data collection. The findings indicate that the intervention improved perceptions of most studied digital “hard skills” (8/11 claims). Out of twelve 21st-century “soft skills” claims, perceptions were high initially and improved significantly for critical thinking and systematic problem-solving claims during the design sprint. The agency scores showed a slight improvement but no significant difference. Face-to-face groups would be willing to recommend the sprint method more for peers than online groups. In the era of global turbulence and artificial intelligence, in addition to hard skills, soft skills like communication, teamwork, problem-solving and project management are in demand by employers. According to LinkedIn data in 2/2024, adaptability is the most demanded skill. In addition to traditional subjects, the pedagogical methods in higher education should better support the development of 21st-century skills.

This article aimed to analyze the commodification of higher education and the impact of digital technologies and the coronavirus pandemic on the level of learning and work of university professors. The methodology used was a bibliographical review – with content analysis (theoretical-deductive and dialectic), in a qualitative and quantitative way. The conclusion was that the process of commodification of higher education, the economic crises and the COVID-19 pandemic boosted the implementation of the virtual class system, in hybridity with face-to-face classes, impacting the quality of teaching and the work of teachers. university students, who started to face difficulties with the volume of work, with the mastery of new digital tools and with the challenge of maintaining the level of engagement and learning of students.
