- Abstract
The average age of diagnosis of schizophrenia being between 15 and 25 years, a psychoeducation program started early can help improve the care of young patients. The objective was therefore to restructure the program existing in our establishment, for adult patients, to adapt it to a patient population of adolescents and young adults. The existant program, was analyzed, as well as the bibliography, in collaboration with doctors and caregivers. A shorter program was thus created, focused on brain functioning in relation to the symptoms and effect of medications, the different pharmacological classes, the adverse effects and their medical care. The tools created and presented in the article solicit the knowledge of the patients, their attention, leading them to understand the benefit of medications on their symptoms. They also aim to facilitate their expression of their lived experiences so that they communicate better with doctors. A shared assessment is carried out for each patient before the three sessions, each of which ending with a quiz. An individual interview two months after the last session evaluates achievements and satisfaction. An evaluation after six months analyzes the impact of the program in the longer term.
