- Abstract
This paper is based on research into the representation of Italian literature in the current curricula and teaching programs (Serbian language and literature) of primary and secondary schools in Serbia. The paper presents literary works that are mandatory and elective content, works that are read in excerpts or in their entirety as school or homework readings. It examines how the selection is made and to what extent contemporary Italian literature is represented, as well as how much the new programs deviate from the multi-decade pattern dominated by representatives of Humanism and the Renaissance. Although new literary works are a refreshment and a departure from the multi-decade pattern, through literature teaching, in light of spreading the perception of Italian culture, art, and history, there is potential for much more. Progress is noticeable in the approach and inclusion of foreign works, including Italian literature, in education. There is a visible need to introduce more contemporary works and authors into school practice, as well as reasons for slow progress in realizing such an idea. However, some changes in approach are evident at all levels - both in primary and secondary schools, both through the choice of works to be read and through the approach to them. In teaching practice, there is still a challenge in the cultural, interdisciplinary approach to the literature, which relies on correlation within and outside the subject, on a comparative and intertextual approach to the literary work. All this is evident through accompanying materials in textbooks, which often do not open up broader possibilities of reception, although it could be done in many different ways. While some publishers offer innovative approaches such as including original illustrations by authors, documents, and additional materials that expand understanding of the context and significance of the text, others neglect this important dimension, which can limit the possibility of proper judgment about its values in the context of the entire literature. In addition to the proper inclusion of Italian literature in education, the idea of this paper was also to emphasize, using this specific example, the need for intercultural education and the promotion of understanding of different literary traditions and cultures. If students read works by Italian authors as part of school or homework reading, and are given the opportunity to get acquainted with Italian literature, it is important that this perception does not remain just as the isolated world of a literary work, but that it opens up the possibility of understanding the wider picture of Italian culture, art, and history, as well as world literature in general. 3. FUGA: OSVRT NA PRIPOVJEDAČKI OPUS ALBE DE SESPEDES.

- Abstract
Although Alba de Céspedes's work has been receiving critical attention in numerous monographs, books of proceedings and scholarly articles for more than two decades, some of truly significant texts of this Italian-Cuban writer, journalist and engaged intellectual have been relegated to obscurity. One of them is her third collection of short stories Fuga (1940), published two years after her early novel Nessuno torna indietro (There's No Turning Back, 1938), which brought her international fame. After a brief review of the circumstances in which the short stories were created, the paper draws attention to their most important themes: writing and the position and roles of women in society. In addition, the paper also attempts to find a connection between this work and some of Alba de Cespedes's novels. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Eco's Baudolino: medieval myth-weaver or open wordsmith? The following thesis will analyze several segments of Umberto Eco’s novel Baudolino in an attempt to identify to what degree the concept of the Open Work appears in the author’s literary creations. In the first part of the thesis, we will take a look at the core definitions of what constitutes an open work, as defined in the 1962 essay of the same name. We will outline the categorization of open works, the concept of art as epistemological metaphor and the ways in which modern authors have used indeterminacy as a creative tool. In the second part of the thesis, we will more closely examine some episodes from the novel Baudolino and analyze them in accordance with the theories outlined above. Special attention will be devoted to the symbolic interpretation of the fantastic elements in the novel, which serve as open elements.

V diplomski nalogi sem s pomočjo strokovne literature o feminizmu in družbenih neenakostih analizirala feministično misel, ki jo Elena Ferrante razvije s prvoosebno pripovedjo protagonistke Elene Greco. Diplomsko delo zaključujem z razmišljanjem o protagonistki Eleni Greco in o tem, kako s pomočjo feministične teorije razbrati literarizirano študijo vsakdanjega življenja, ki jo ponuja Elena Ferrante. In my diploma thesis, with the help of professional literature on feminism and social inequalities, I analysed the feminist thought that Elena Ferrante develops through the first-person narration of the protagonist Elena Greco. First, I briefly outlined the development of feminist thought from the beginning to the third wave of feminism, presented the literary peculiarities of the author's writing, especially the wording of feelings, and gave a brief reconstruction of the considered works for easier understanding of the analysis of feminist thought. In the conclusion, I dealt with selected areas that most indicate the feminist struggle and are still important today when considering the position of women. I concluded my thesis by thinking about the protagonist Elena Greco and how to understand the literary study of everyday life offered by Elena Ferrante with the help of feminist theory.

Članek analizira razkroj identitete in razdrobitev pripovednega glasa v romanu Na slepo Claudia Magrisa (2005). Tržaški pisatelj prek metafore plovbe raziskuje razne vidike problematike pripovedovanja, zlasti avtobiografske pripovedi.

- Abstract
U ovom radu stekli smo uvid u slicnosti i razlike izmedu srpske i italijanske književnosti u odnosu na temu susreta s mrtvima u periodu modernizma. Nezaobilazno je time i pitanje žanra menipeje kome pripadaju razgovori s mrtvima. U okviru komparativnih istraživanja uocili smo uticaj Pirandelovog modernistickog preobražaja motiva susreta sa mrtvima na srpsku književnost, a naznacili smo i tipološke slicnosti i razlike u bavljenju ovom temom izmedu srpskog i italijanskog k, In this work we gained an insight into similarities and differences between Serbian and Italian literature related to encounter with the dead theme in modern epoch. Conversations with the dead, in Luigi Pirandello’s work, had converted into conversations between narrator-author with the characters, or dialogues with his own conscience, to later present drama of a character searching for an author in Pirandello’s well known play Six Characters in Search of an Author. The dissertation concentrates on a period of Luigi Pirandello’s creative work, and his Italian and Serbian contemporaries mostly (Ivo Andric, Isidora Sekulic, Simo Matavulj, Branislav Nusic, Eduardo de Filippo). As we analyzed prose and drama narratives, we used not only chronological, but also a genre-based framework. Introductory remarks study the theme of the encounter, highlighting the importance of a term “chronotope” in Bahtin’s sense, as well as a dialogue on a doorstep. Hence, it is inevitable to discuss menippean satire, to which the conversations with the dead belong. This is followed by a brief historical review of dialogues with and between the dead which have ideological purpose in the antiquity, since the dead convert into messengers. A diachronic approach is important to highlight the reversal that occurs with Giacomo Leopardi in the XIX century. Taking into consideration selected pieces, the subject of the analysis was interaction of the author, mostly narrator playing a role of a writer, with characters, but also relations between characters. Special place belongs to a discovery of metatextuality (especially in Andric’s work), often followed by humoristic notes that are typical for Pirandello’s poetics, and are present in Isidora Sekulic’s work too. Thematological and comparative approaches were extremely important in prose and drama analysis, relying on Umberto Eco’s reading cooperation principles. In comparative researches, we noticed an influence of Pirandello’s modernist transformati

The thesis deals with two postmodern works that were created in the 80s of the 20th century, the Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco and Perfume by Patrick Suskind. Both novels were by the readers accepted so well that they were made into film, Name of the Rose was directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud, Perfume was directed by Tom Tykwer. The first part of the thesis focuses on the period of postmodernism, which is justified on grounds of major literary theorists of that era especially Umberto Eco and Viktor Žmegac. In the second part the thesis presents novels itselfs, their main characteristics and response of critics and audience. The third part focuses on a postmodernist film adaptation of the novel, and presents as well as the beginnings of postmodernism on television.

Najprej opišem vlogo žensk v družbi v času nastajanja Boccaccievega Dekamerona in Cervantesovih Zglednih novel, nato pa to primerjam z opisi žensk v obeh omenjenih delih. This thesis discusses the portrayal of women through the history of short prose, focussing on Cervantes and Boccaccio. Firstly, I describe the role of women in society in the time of writing Boccaccio's Decameron and Cervantes' Exemplary Novels. Then I compare their role to the portrayal of women in both works. After a thorough analysis I arrive at a conclusion that both Boccaccio and Cervantes adopt the mindset of their time and present women as dictated by the patriarchal society. At the same time, both of them partly deviate from the ideas and norms of their time. We can spot early signs of feminism, which are, however, often overlooked because of the sexist commentary and remarks, presenting women in an extremely unfavourable way.

Diplomsko delo Italijanski in francoski futurizem v prvem delu predstavi futurizem v Italiji, od koder ta avantgardistična smer pravzaprav izvira, in v Franciji. In the first segment of the diploma thesis Italian and French futurism I will elaborate on the futurism movement in France and Italy, where the avant-garde movement originated from.In the second segment I will explore the connection between futurism and early Italian Fascism and lastly I will discuss futurism influence in Slovenian literature. Though futurism was not present in Slovenian artistic and literary movement, there are noteworthy parallels between the movement and some of literary works I will look into.

Diplomska naloga je posvečena italijanskemu ustvarjalcu Gabrielu d'Annunziu. Naloga vsebuje pregled njegovega življenja, literarnega ustvarjanja in političnega udejstvovanja. This thesis will focus on Italian writer Gabriele d'Annunzio. It contains an overview of his life, his literary work and his part in politics. A part of my thesis will also focus on the reception of d'Annunzio. I focused on his work's reception of Slovenian authors: Ivan Cankar, Stritar, Župančič, Kette, Murn, Izidor Cankar in Gradnik. Gabriele d'Annunzio's literary work is diverse and is marked by the appearance of individual literary genres. His work was described as trivial and kitschy on multiple occasions. We can see the influence of theatre actress Eleonora Duse in d'Annunzio's work. He has written a couple of theatre texts for her. The reception of d'Annunzio in Slovenia is very stereotypical, because they mostly focused on his private life and his time in politics, rather than reviewing his work. Out of the Slovenian authors I've chosen, the one spending most of his time on d'Annunzio's work was the representative of Slovenian modernist movement Ivan Cankar. Župančič and Stritar wrote a song, Gradnik was mostly translating d'Annunzio's poetry, while we can find mention of d'Annuzio's drama in Izidor Cankar's work. Kette and Murn do not mention the Italian decadent.

The motif of identity, especially border identity, has an important place in the novels of the writer Fulvio Tomizza, because as a border writer, as he called himself, it represents a leitmotif in his life and literary work. Because of his double identity the novels Prijateljstvo and Frančiška reveal his capacity of objective evaluation of groups of people who find themselves in a subordinate or superior position in certain circumstances. The discussion tries to show the writer’s humane sense for people who find themselves in a minority position and his literary commitment to better relations between the Italian and Slovenian nation.

This master's thesis discusses the translation of phrasemes found in the collection of short stories Gospod Ničla in druge zgodbe by Italian author Stefano Benni, which was translated into Slovene by Janko Petrovec. The analysis focuses on two particular categories: minimal verbal phrasemes with the structure 'verb + clitic personal pronoun' and phraseological renewals. It also includes a list of all the phrasemes found in the original text and in the translation, sorted by the type of equivalence.
