In this thesis, I follow up on Birgitte Jacobsen's early studies in 2003 of Nuuk-Danish. Based on the Natural Semantic Metalanguage (NSM) and a postcolonial approach, I unfold the linguistic worldviews embedded in Nuuk-Danish environmental concepts. More specifically, with evidence from text examples and semantic consultations with young people in Nuuk, Greenland’s capital, I propose NSM semantic explications of the Nuuk-Danish seasonal environmental words midnatssol (‘midnight sun’) and vintermørke (‘winter darkness’), the landscape words isen (‘the (inland) ice’), havet (‘the sea’), and fjeld (‘fell’, ‘mountain’, ‘hill’), and the non-human environment-bound being concept fjeldgænger (‘a dangerous human-like creature living in the fell’). Like other environmental concepts, the Nuuk-Danish words are rooted in an anthropocentric perspective. In addition, the analysis suggests that the Nuuk-Danish words might also be anchored in a colonial view on the arctic environment. Lastly, I return to Jacobsen’s final remark on Nuuk-Danish, where she speculates, if Nuuk-Danish signals a generation that has overcome a neither-nor identity crisis. My initial observations indicate that Nuuk-Danish is considered a linguistic both-and-position based on the colonial language but marking Greenlandic identity.

El propósito de este trabajo fue reconstruir el proceso de profesionalización del cuerpo diplomático argentino, para ello se describieron los requerimientos para ingresar a la carrera diplomática, y se analizaron las razones de surgimiento del Instituto del Servicio Exterior de la Nación. Al mismo tiempo, y como un aporte a la comprensión de este caso, observamos procesos similares en Brasil y Chile. Para ello utilizamos como principales técnicas de investigación las entrevistas en profundidad a agentes claves, el trabajo de archivo y el análisis documental. De esta manera observamos el complejo recorrido de los cuerpos diplomáticos que pujaron por establecer normas claras y trasparentes para el ingreso a carrera, situación que tuvo como telón de fondo el impulso dado por organismos internacionales para profesionalizar las administraciones públicas latinoamericanas, y la inestabilidad política de los gobiernos locales. Esto nos permitió concluir que la profesionalización del cuerpo diplomático argentino fue un proceso complejo, que tuvo avances y retrocesos, y al mismo tiempo que existieron coincidencias entre los países estudiados. The goals of this study were to trace the process of professionalization of the Argentine diplomatic body, to describe and analyze the requirements imposed on candidates to the diplomatic career, and to understand the reasons for the rise of the Instituto del Servicio Exterior de la Nación (Argen-tina’s Foreign Service Institute). Concurrently, similar processes were analyzed in Brazil and Chile, in order to contribute to a better understanding of the case. In order to achieve these goals, the main research techniques applied were in-depth interviews with key officials, archival work, and document analysis. These allowed us to study the complex development of diplomatic bodies, which struggled to establish clear and transparent re-quirements for access to the career, a situation that was underpinned by the initiative of international or-ganizations to professionalize Latin American public administrations, in a context of political instability for local governments. We came to conclude that the professionalization of the Argentine diplomatic body was a complex process, marked by progresses and setbacks, and one which ran parallel to similar processes in the countries under study.
