While important for athletic development and well-being in youth sport, knowledge remains limited around the processes underpinning triadic relationships between parents, athletes, and coaches. This study aimed to examine the relational processes that drive the functioning of parent–athlete–coach triads across three developmental stages of youth tennis. Using a collective-case-study design, 10 players, 10 coaches, and 9 mothers completed preinterview tasks and semistructured interviews and provided conversational history. Reflexive thematic analysis led to the generation of two higher order themes: foundations of relationship quality and factors enabling team effectiveness. Findings highlighted how specific relationship qualities (i.e., commitment, trust, respect, and parent–coach proximity) and team effectiveness constructs (i.e., shared goals, collaborative and adjusted roles, support, and role-specific communication) served to facilitate the tennis experience for triads. Scholars are encouraged to consider integrating small-group principles (e.g., team building) into tailored support programs that address the psychosocial needs of the triad. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Social interactions unfold within networks of relationships. How do beliefs about others social ties shape-and how are they shaped by-expectations about how others will behave? Here, participants joined a fictive online game-playing community and interacted with its purported members, who varied in terms of their trustworthiness and apparent relationships with one another. Participants were less trusting of partners with untrustworthy friends, even after they consistently showed themselves to be trustworthy, and were less willing to engage with them in the future. To test whether people not only expect friends to behave similarly but also expect those who behave similarly to be friends, an incidental memory test was given. Participants were exceptionally likely to falsely remember similarly behaving partners as friends. Thus, people expect friendship to predict similar behavior and vice versa. These results suggest that knowledge of social networks and others behavioral tendencies reciprocally interact to shape social thought and behavior.

Schizophrenia disorders severely impact social and occupational function and reduce quality of life, furthermore patients often suffer from social withdrawal and isolation. The aim of this study was to investigate long-term quality of life and social disconnection and determine 10-year changes in quality of life and social disconnection later in life in association with changes in symptom severity, cognition, and global function. We used assessments of quality of life and assessor rated social disconnection from the 10- and 20-year follow-up of the OPUS trial to examined 10-year changes in self-rated quality of life and social disconnection in the later stage of illness following a first episode psychosis. Self-rated social disconnection was only assessed in the 174 participants of the 20-year follow-up. Twenty years after a first episode psychosis only half of the participants reported having face-to-face contact with someone in their network more than once a week, while 90 % reported often or always being able to get emotional support when needed. Quality of life ratings were lower in our study population compared to the general population. On average physical and environmental quality of life worsened from the 10- to the 20-year follow-up while psychological and social quality of life remained stable. All quality-of-life domains were associated with negative symptoms (physical QoL: b = −6.6, p < 0.001, psychological QoL: b = −8, p < 0.001, social QoL: b = −5.7, p < 0.001 and environmental QoL: b = −6.5, p < 0.001) and global function (physical QoL: b = −0. 47, p < 0.001, psychological QoL: b = 0.52, p < 0.001, social QoL: b = 0.31, p < 0.001 and environmental QoL: b = 0.49, p < 0.001). Social disconnection seems to persist over time. Social disconnection and quality of life were associated with negative symptoms and poor functioning, therefore interventions aimed at improving global and social function might likely also improve quality of life. Digital communication technologies transform social relationships by networking strangers into mediated intimate publics. Guided by the question of what happens when displays of public intimacy go viral, I analyze communicative methods within intimate publics on TikTok through an exploratory, qualitative case study of the viral "couch guy" meme. Results indicate that users on TikTok participate in intimate publics through the uploading of original content, duplication and replication of content, commenting, and lurking. Utilizing sensemaking as an analytic, first, I demonstrate how TikTok's platform affordances transform displays of public intimacy into public extimacy, transforming TikTok into a space where social scripts and relationship expectations are negotiated. Second, I offer a preliminary organizational structure of communicative actions within the "couch guy" public on TikTok. The main aim of our study was to adapt the Questionnaire on Teacher Interaction (QTI) to an Estonian context. The QTI was translated and evaluated by three educational researchers and validated with a sample of 508 students from grades 6 and 9 in 13 middle schools. When statistical analyses were utilized to investigate reliability and validity of the EstQTI, validity was supported to some degree. However, the underlying circumplex model was not fully confirmed and, therefore, further improvement of the instrument is needed. The factors in the study explained a variance of 68% and the reliability of the eight resulting scales ranged between 0.75 and 0.92. Introduction: With the increasing prevalence of mental health challenges among college students, understanding how family background and interpersonal dynamics affect mental health literacy is critical. This study examined the relationships between family socioeconomic status, mental health literacy, parenting styles, and interpersonal relationships among 1,107 college students. Methods: Using an online questionnaire, the study explored how family socioeconomic status, parenting styles, and interpersonal relationships influence mental health literacy. Results and discussion: The results showed that family socioeconomic status significantly and positively predicts mental health literacy. Both positive and negative parenting styles were found to partially mediate the relationship between family socioeconomic status and mental health literacy. Additionally, interpersonal relationships partially mediated this relationship. Finally, the study revealed that positive and negative parenting styles acted as sequential mediators between family socioeconomic status and mental health literacy through interpersonal relationships. Social–emotional competencies, a crucial non-academic factor for K-12 students to be competent 21st century citizens, are receiving increasing research attention. Based on the 2,801 self-reports of grades 4–8 students from four schools in China, this study scrutinized the associations between adolescents' five core competencies and their interpersonal relationships. Results indicated that five competencies acted as mediators between parent–child relationships and students' relationships with teachers and peers. In addition to the girls' advantage in five competencies, the results also demonstrated the gender and grade differences in the association. Boys had more indirect links and girls had both direct and indirect associations. There were grade differences in the mediating role of social awareness. The study's findings may advance our understanding of the parental influence on Chinese students' social–emotional competencies and provide a more nuanced picture of the conditions and interplay that foster or hinder students' proficiency in these competencies in schools and families. In recent years, the rise of social networks has changed relationships and lifestyles around the world. This has led to the emergence of the Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), which consists of the need to constantly check social media and the anguish that comes from feeling a lack of rewarding experiences. The impact derived from the use of technologies in a digital environment has been widely studied in young people but not so much in older adults, being also a vulnerable population. The main aim of this study was to analyze FoMO levels in a sample of older adults and their relationships with sociodemographic and formative factors. In addition, analyze whether the dimensions of emotional intelligence, the different forms of attachment and psychological symptomatology affect the FoMO levels of elderly adults. A total of 690 older adults aged between 60 and 90 years (M = 69.01; SD = 5.48) participated, 54.5% of whom were women. The main results confirmed that elderly people show FoMO levels similar to other general samples. In addition, results show several predictor variables with respect to FoMO: emotional attention, insecure attachment, depression and difficulties in interpersonal relationships. Cooperation skills are fundamental for student development. To enhance these skills effectively, understanding their influencing factors is essential. Drawing on data from the Survey on Social and Emotional Skills (SSES) 2019 China Suzhou Survey, this study examines how interpersonal relationships influence adolescent students' cooperation skills. It was found that the father-child relationship, mother-child relationship, classmate relationship, teacher-student relationship, and neighborhood relationship all positively affected adolescent students' cooperation skills, after controlling students' gender and family's socio-economic status. Notably, relationships with classmates emerge as the most significant contributors to students' cooperation skills, demonstrating significant interaction effects with mother-child relationship, father-child relationship, teacher-student relationship, and neighbourhood relationship. The discussion and application of the findings enhance the cultivation of students' cooperation skills effectively, thereby equipping students with essential capabilities for success in the 21st century. Introduction: Gaming disorder (GD) in adolescents is associated with impaired interpersonal relationships, including those with parents, teachers and peers. However, the interpersonal relationships most strongly associated with GDrelated maladaptive behaviors are not well established. This study aimed to investigate the associations between these three types of relationships and the manifestation of GD in adolescents. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 1920 Chinese adolescents participated in a survey that assessed interpersonal relationships (parent--child, teacher--student, and peer relationships) and demographic variables (e.g., gender, grade, duration of gaming), and 1414 participants were ultimately included. A network analysis approach was utilized to evaluate the key network metrics of edge weight and node centrality. Results: The findings revealed that peer fear and inferiority (r = 0.12) and teacher--student conflict were most strongly correlated with GD, followed by parent --child conflict (r = 0.09). Peer fear and inferiority exhibited the highest strength centrality (0.84), followed by teacher--student conflict (0.83) and parent--child conflict (0.35). Moreover, the duration of gaming was significantly and positively correlated with GD (r = 0.19). Conclusions: The present study underscores the significant role of conflict and rejection within interpersonal relationships, particularly among peers, in the manifestation of GD-related behaviors in Chinese adolescents. Environmental practitioners often develop communications and behavior change interventions that conceptualize individuals as consumers or as other limited, standalone personae. This view neglects the role of conservation audiences as social beings with complex social relationships and networks, potentially resulting in lost opportunities to increase the effectiveness of conservation interventions. We offer a reframing of individuals as members of social networks who can influence others through their many different societal roles. This framing may help individuals recognize their potential to affect large‐scale societal structures and empower them to contribute to systemic changes. In practice, conservation organizations might increase the impact and reach of their behavioral interventions by targeting social referents (individuals or groups who people reference for accepted and desired behaviors) and leveraging interpersonal relationships. This includes encouraging individuals to make use of their networks to discuss issues such as biodiversity loss with a variety of acquaintances to normalize them as a topic of conversation. We argue that organizations can leverage the power of social networks to amplify change and promote the message that people change the world through their social ties, thereby inspiring audiences to further engage in conservation behaviors. Purpose: The Love Together, Parent Together (L2P2) program is a brief, online couple's intervention designed to prevent relationship deterioration by targeting maladaptive psychological processes. Methods: The current study used a parallel-group randomized controlled trial of L2P2 to examine its feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effectiveness. One-hundred forty couples with young children (< 6 years old) were randomly assigned to L2P2 or a control group. In three writing sessions over nine weeks, all couples completed fact-based summaries about recent conflicts; the L2P2 group also responded to three writing prompts eliciting conflict reappraisal. Participants completed baseline, post-intervention, and 1- and 3-month follow-up assessments. Results: Goals related to feasibility and acceptability were met. In addition, the control group, but not the L2P2 group, showed deteriorating relationship quality from baseline to post-intervention. Objective: This article provides an overview of the Cross‐Lagged Panel Model (CLPM), Random‐Intercept Cross‐Lagged Panel Model (RI‐CLPM), and Latent Curve Model with Structured Residuals (LCM‐SR), highlighting the major issues of the CLPM for relationship science, and discusses dyadic extensions of those three models. Background: Understanding interdependencies among people and constructs is a central interest in relationship science. Addressing such research questions requires complex designs ideally using data collected at multiple measurement occasions of multiple constructs from at least two persons (e.g., both partners of a couple). The Cross‐Lagged Panel Model (CLPM) has been widely used to analyze such data, however, particularly during the last decade, it has been pointed out that the CLPM confounds between‐ and within‐person variation. As a consequence, alternative models such as the Random‐Intercept Cross‐Lagged Panel Model (RI‐CLPM) and the Latent Curve Model with Structured Residuals (LCM‐SR) were proposed that aim to disentangle between‐ and within‐person variation and, hence, allow conclusions regarding within‐person dynamics. Method: As an illustrative example, we apply dyadic extensions of the CLPM, RI‐CLPM, and LCM‐SR to investigate the dynamic interplay between depression and relationship satisfaction in a sample of 1699 mixed‐gender couples surveyed in the German Family Panel. Results: While the CLPM indicated a reciprocal relationship between depression and satisfaction, the RI‐CLPM and LCM‐SR indicated a unidirectional association flowing from depression to satisfaction. Objectives: Athletes and coaches rely on their performance support team to optimise training and competition. The specific characteristics of performance support teams that contribute to success in competition from the perspective of athletes and coaches have not been examined. Olympic gold medal winning athletes and coaches were asked about the characteristics they valued in the performance support team members who were with them at the Olympic Games. The insights shared provide important context to the role of the performance support team member, beyond technical skills, in the high-stress environment of elite sporting competition. Methods: Concept mapping was completed online to collect, analyse, and visually represent insights from 30 Olympic gold medal winning athletes and coaches. The concept mapping focus prompt used to generate insights from participants was 'When I reflect on my gold medal winning performance, a characteristic that I really valued within my support team was....'. Athletes then brainstormed, sorted, and rated relevant statements. Results: Multidimensional scaling and hierarchical cluster analysis produced an 8-cluster map – Way of Working, Communication Style, Emotional Management in Competition, Teamwork, Commitment to Athlete Preparation, Professionalism, Embracing the Experience, and Equality – as the best visual representation of the way participants sorted the 49 unique brainstormed statements. Conclusions: Olympic gold medal winning athletes and coaches prioritised ways of working, communication style, emotional management, and teamwork as the characteristics they valued most in their performance support team. These constructs, when further examined by item, encourage performance support staff to develop emotional management skills to (a) strengthen interpersonal relationships within the team, (b) enhance the working alliance with athletes and coaches, and (c) contribute to team performance overall. The purpose of this article is to show psychological features of post-trau­matic stress disorder of combatants. Methods of the research. The following theoretical methods of the research were used to solve the tasks formulated in the article: a categorical method, structural and functional methods, the methods of the analysis, systematization, modeling and generalization. The experimental method was the method of or­ganizing empirical research. The results of the research. The following methods were shown to be widely used by psychologists and rehabilitation specialists of military units and unit commanders in the practice of psychological rehabilitation of combatants who had received combat mental trauma: autogenic techniques (performance of mental self-regulation techniques, self-training, meditation, etc.); physiologi­cal methods (deep sleep, rest, quality food, drinking a lot of water, shower, field bath); organizational means (establishing a clear regime of work and rest, in­volvement of servicemen into active combat training, service, preservation of military uniform); medication means (sedatives, tranquilizers, antidepressants, nootropics, psychostimulants, phytotherapy, vitamin therapy, etc.); psychotherapeutic techniques and methods (individual and group rational psychotherapy, music, library, art, nature therapy, etc.). Conclusions. We proved that the situation of hostilities, which take place in the east of Ukraine, leads to pronounced changes in the functional state of mental activity, which is characterized by the development of extremely strong negative emotions, such as anxiety, fear, severe mental and physical fatigue. The rapid transition to a peaceful reality often does not allow combatants to adequately respond to certain circumstances from the perspective of the sur­rounding reality. Post-traumatic stress disorder, becoming chronic, affects al­most every aspect of a combatant’s life, including work, activity, interpersonal relationships, physical health and self-esteem.

We systematically reviewed quantitative studies of phenomena at the nexus of Human Resource Management (HRM) and interpersonal relationships. We report on the overall prevalence and trends in research methods relating to construct, internal, external, and statistical conclusion validity. The review draws attention to areas of emphasis (positive relationships, instrumental ties, nonnetwork structures, employee respondents, samples drawn from Asia, HR perceptions). We also identify a growing emphasis on particularly desirable approaches to examining relational HRM (a more balanced consideration of positive and negative relationships, studies that examine more than one HR practice, multilevel analyses). Together, the identified areas of emphasis, gaps, and associated trends, inform our elucidation of research directions around 15 specific work relationships—along with more general directions for better accounting for dynamic, multilevel, measurement, and analytical considerations central to HRM and interpersonal relationships. Much evidence on heightened inflammation and social behavior focuses on social withdrawal. Building on recent theory (Muscatell and Inagaki, 2021), we focused instead on the socially affiliative experience of sex. We investigated the interplay between immunology and motivation on sexual well-being among 158 individuals in romantic relationships. Inflammation, indexed by C-reactive protein (CRP), and sexual well-being were measured multiple times over a month. Relational approach motivation (i.e., motivation toward rewards in relationships) was measured at study entry. Results revealed significant associations between CRP and sexual satisfaction and partnered orgasms frequency for those most motivated to approach rewards with their partner. Interaction effects were replicated with relationship-focused psychological correlates of sexual well-being (e.g., touch, shared laughter, social support), but not with individual-focused outcomes (e.g., adapting to change, goal progress). Parasocial relationships (PSRs), defined as one-sided relationships with media personas have grown in prevalence within the K-pop fandom in recent years, particularly for adolescents. This study utilizes an explanatory sequential mixed methods model to investigate the psychological impact of PSRs on adolescent K-pop fans. Adapting existing frameworks of PSR measurement, quantitative data was collected through an online survey sent to high school students aged 14-18, while qualitative data was collected through narrative interviews. the key findings revealed that PSRs developed by adolescent K-pop fans often lead to unhealthy emotional attachment and unre- alistic perceptions of beauty and interpersonal relationships, with social media acting as a mediator. Major psychological impacts identified include behavioral modifications, appearance insecurities, and emotional codependency, caused by extended exposure to misleading marketing techniques in K-pop. The study highlights the need for wider investigation of unhealthy standards perpetuated by the K-pop industry and the development of positive media consumption habits.

AbstractInterpersonal functioning is impacted by various schemas; early maladaptive schemas (EMSs) can negatively impact interpersonal relationships in adults, yet no prior research has explored the link between EMSs and interpersonal attraction. To address this gap, we conducted a cross-sectional study among Lebanese female university students using an online questionnaire. We also controlled for common mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and stress. Our study, implemented across ten university campuses and with a sample of 662 cisgender and heterosexual female students, revealed significant associations between EMSs and different forms of interpersonal attraction. Specifically, punitiveness was found to increase the likelihood of high task attraction, while enmeshment was associated with higher social attraction. In contrast, none of the early maladaptive schemas were significantly associated with physical attraction. Our findings emphasize the critical role of EMSs in shaping women’s interpersonal attraction and highlight the potential utility of schema therapy in promoting healthy human interactions. This study fills an important gap in the literature and sheds light on a previously unexplored aspect of human behavior that has implications for promoting women’s well-being in diverse settings. Ten studies (N = 4192) demonstrated that individuals depicted as prosocial were judged to be more physically beautiful. This evaluation of prosocial individuals as more beautiful is influenced by a motivation to be associated with prosocial others. This phenomenon was observed in real‐world settings (Study 1) and applied to both men and women, both as targets and observers (Studies 2a–2b). The effect persisted in scenarios where participants imagined the target without any visual aid (Study 2c) and extended beyond metaphorical interpretations of beauty (Study 3). The effect weakened when prosocial behaviour was an isolated incident, not indicative of the target's prosocial personality (Study 4). The influence of prosociality on beauty evaluations surpassed that of other positive traits such as intelligence or humour (Study 5) and remained significant despite physical imperfections in the target's appearance (Study 6). The effect diminished in situations where forming a relationship was not feasible, thus supporting the motivated cognition rationale (Studies 7–8). These findings highlight the substantial role of prosocial behaviour in influencing evaluations of physical beauty, a crucial element in social interactions and relationship formation, often outweighing other attributes typically linked to physical appearance evaluation. Happiness in the Indian context is a multidimensional construct. It goes beyond the mainstream understanding of hedonism and eudaimonia, encompassing concepts like spirituality/religiosity and righteousness. Research shows that globalization and traditions both have influenced the notion of happiness. In this study, we conducted a content analysis of qualitative responses to the Cantril Ladder of Life scale by rural women in India (data collected as part of Singh et al., 2020 study) to identify 15 areas of life (or elicitors) which may contribute to happiness. Subsequently, a diverse community sample (N = 359) rated each of the 15 areas on a 4-point Likert scale indicating how much each area contributed to their happiness. Principal components analysis revealed a three-factor model: achievement, interpersonal, religious/spiritual. All factors were correlated with mental/physical health, social support, quality of life, spiritual well-being, and both independent and interdependent self-construal. In India, elicitors of happiness present a tri-factor model with the orthogonal factors representing collective, spiritual, and agentic factors, representing pluralism in Indian perspective of happiness which comprises of both traditional and western values. The present study examined how the personality dimensions of the Dark Triad (i.e., Machiavellianism, narcissism, and psychopathy) predict infidelity intentions and jealousy and whether these variables predict conflict tactics used in relationships. Adult women (N = 567, 18–73 years old, Mage = 31.91; SD = 10.29) completed self-report scales assessing the Dark Triad traits, jealousy (i.e., cognitive, emotional, and behavioral), intentions towards infidelity, and conflict tactics, including negotiation, psychological aggression, physical assault, sexual coercion, and injury. Our results demonstrated that the Dark Triad traits had strong links to the intention to commit infidelity and jealousy, and at the correlational level, there were small correlations between jealousy and the intention to commit infidelity. Both jealousy and the intention to commit infidelity predicted conflict tactics. As this is possibly one of the first studies to examine these variables jointly, the present results add to our understanding of the role of personality in romantic relationships. Communication technologies have long been used to develop and maintain relationships; but recently, channels have increasingly sought to gamify interactions among users. The present study explored if individuals' interpersonal and entertainment use motives were associated with interpersonal interactions and message composition, as well as subsequent relational outcomes (i.e., closeness). A survey of 156 collegiate Snapchat users revealed that interpersonal and entertainment motives were significantly related to Snapchat behavior (Streak count and Streak Snaps, respectively) and relational closeness. Moral norms balance the needs of the group versus individuals, and societies across the globe vary in terms of the norms they prioritize. Extant research indicates that people from Western cultures consistently choose to protect (vs. punish) close others who commit crimes. Might this differ in cultural contexts that prioritize the self less? Prior research presents two compelling alternatives. On the one hand, collectivists may feel more intertwined with and tied to those close to them, thus protecting close others more. On the other hand, they may prioritize society over individuals and thus protect close others less. Four studies (N = 2,688) performed in the United States and Japan provide self-report, narrative, and experimental evidence supporting the latter hypothesis. These findings highlight how personal relationships and culture dynamically interact to shape how we think about important moral decisions. Public Significance Statement: Modern civilization is built on rules about how to behave. Yet, in Western cultures, when these rules are violated by people we know and love, people consistently dismiss them. Here, we demonstrate that this propensity to protect close others is powerfully influenced by culture. In four studies, we provide evidence (N = 2,688) that people from Japan—a culture in which individual interests are prioritized less than in the United States—are less likely to protect close others who transgress out of concern for the impact on society. We also demonstrate that this cultural difference disappears when people from Japan are themselves the victims, a scenario in which societal interests are muted and personal interests are focal. Background: College students face significant academic and physiological changes, making them more susceptible to psychological issues such as depression, self-injury, and suicidal ideation. Feelings of defeat can exacerbate these risks by increasing academic stress. However, interpersonal relationships can moderate the impact of academic stress on students' mental health. Utilizing the presage–process–product model, this study aims to empirically investigate how feelings of defeat influence depression, self-injury, and suicidal ideation among college students. Additionally, it explores the mediating role of academic stress and the moderating role of various types of interpersonal relationships. Methods: A total of 1612 college students (750 females, 862 males, mean age = 19.64 ± 0.62 years) were recruited through cluster sampling. Data were collected via offline questionnaires administered by a trained psychology teacher and a postgraduate student, ensuring high reliability with two examiners per class. Latent profile analysis (LPA) was used to examine the impact of defeat on mental health outcomes, while mediation analysis was conducted to assess the roles of academic stress and interpersonal relationships. Results: 1. Defeat is identified as a significant risk factor for mental health issues among college students; 2. Four distinct patterns of interpersonal relationships were identified: the interpersonal-relationship risk group, the father–child-relationship high-risk group, the general interpersonal-relationship group, and the superior interpersonal-relationship group; 3. Academic stress partially mediates the relationship between defeat and mental health issues such as depression, self-injury, and suicidal ideation; 4. Different interpersonal relationship models moderate the impact of academic stress on depression and suicidal ideation. Conclusion: Defeat is a significant risk factor for mental health problems in college students. Academic stress partially mediates the negative impact of defeat on mental health, while patterns of interpersonal relationships moderate this impact. This article reports on the validation of the Korean version of the Anger Discomfort Scale (ADS-K) in samples comprising college students and community-based adults living in South Korea (n = 765). The Anger Discomfort Scale (ADS) is a 15-item scale designed to assess levels of discomfort associated with both the experience and expression of anger in interpersonal contexts. For psychometric property testing, survey data were analyzed with advanced multivariate methods, focusing on aspects of validity and reliability. The properties of the total scores are examined by descriptive statistics. The results of exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis identified the structure of the ADS-K as a well-defined bi-factor model. Correlational analyses indicated that anger discomfort was positively associated with anger suppression, anger expression, trait anxiety, and constructs related to anxiety in interpersonal relationships (e.g., fear of evaluation by others and expectations of negative interpersonal results). Materialism, or beliefs and values that link wealth and consumption to success and happiness, negatively affects interpersonal relationships. Prior work has typically explained these effects through the allocation of personal resources (such as time or money) within relationships, thus using a behavioural route. However, this research proposes an alternative cognitive pathway to understand the adverse effects of materialism on interpersonal relationships. Three studies (N = 1389) employing correlational and experimental methodologies showed that materialism leads to heightened expectations and standards for a significant other, which are associated with poorer interpersonal outcomes. Specifically, materialism heightens the ideal standards that one has for a close other around achievement (e.g., ambition) and positive image (e.g., attractiveness), which are linked to higher conflict and lower relational satisfaction. Therefore, this work contributes to deepening our understanding of how consumer‐oriented values shape social perceptions and negatively affect interpersonal dynamics. Practical applications include informing relationship counselling practices, developing educational interventions, and guiding marketers and media content producers towards messages that do not increase individual's ideals and standards for themselves and others. Further research should explore other factors that might alter this mediation (e.g., mindfulness) and examine the short‐ and long‐term effects through longitudinal and interventional‐based research. FTD caregiving research describes patient behavioral symptoms such as apathy and disinhibition as primary sources of poor caregiver psychological health; however, little attention has been paid to other common patient behaviors, such as loss of empathy. To better understand the relationship between empathy loss and FTD caregiver outcomes, this integrative review aimed to address the question: How does the loss of empathy in a person living with FTD (PLwFTD) impact the caregiver?Quantitative and qualitative articles were found in PubMed, the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), and Scopus and were assessed for quality using the Crowe Critical Appraisal Tool (CCAT). Through constant comparative analysis, articles were assessed to abstract common themes in the literature.From 333 citations, 8 qualitative and 8 quantitative studies published between 2010 and 2022 were included. Three main themes were uncovered: 1) caregiver emotional reactions to the PLwFTD; 2) caregiver psychological distress; 3) changes in the relationship.This review emphasizes the detrimental impact of empathy loss on FTD caregivers. Introduction: Experiential social factors of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) have received little empirical attention. This study examined the mediating role of social interaction anxiety on the relationship between experiential qualities of social interaction and GAD status. Method: College student participants (N = 153) engaged in a one-on-one in-vivo social interaction with a novel adult conversational partner (i.e., confederate interviewer). Participants were asked to recount an emotional event in their lives in as much detail as possible. Subsequently, participants answered self-report questions measuring comfort, reluctance, rapport, and mood disturbance experienced while interacting with the interviewer. Results: Participants with GAD symptoms reported greater symptoms of social anxiety and lower levels of comfort while interacting with the interviewer. Participants with GAD symptoms further exhibited greater mood disturbance immediately following this social interaction. Social interaction anxiety mediated the relations between GAD status predicting mood disturbance and level of comfort experienced while interacting with an interviewer. Discussion: More specifically, GAD status was associated with greater symptoms of social interaction anxiety, which in turn, were associated with greater mood disturbance and lower levels of comfort experienced in a social interaction. Incremental advancements in technology present researchers with opportunities to examine and predict human behavior before the integration of technology into daily life. Previous studies have identified trends in both the design and reception of current social robotic technologies, including gender biases and social "othering", which may affect how humans interact with more advanced robotic technologies in the future. The aim of the current study was to explore whether preconceived beliefs about gender inequality, interest in casual sex, and social hierarchies would relate individuals' interest in engaging in platonic friendships ("robofriendship") or sexual relationships ("robosexuality") with hypothetical human-like robots. Two-hundred and twelve participants completed an online survey measuring gender, ambivalent sexism, social dominance orientation, and sociosexual orientation in relation to individuals' interest in both robofriendship and robosexuality. It was found that hostile sexism positively predicted interest in robosexuality, particularly for men (β =.16, b =.27, 95% CI [.03,.30], t (209) = 2.364, p =.019). Conversely, hostile sexism negatively predicted robofriendship, and significant interactions effects were found in that at lower levels of SDO, women maintained greater interest in robofriendship than men (β =.26, b =.54, 95% CI [.09,.99], t(208) = −2.235, p =.02). The current study provides preliminary evidence to suggest that preconceived beliefs about social hierarchy and gender inequality may impact romantic and platonic interactions between humans and robots. Shared reality—the experience of sharing common inner states (e.g. feelings, beliefs) with other people about a given topic or target—is a ubiquitous human experience. With research on the construct of shared reality burgeoning in various domains, we examined a fundamental, yet understudied topic: the role of experiencing shared reality about a target in real‐time conversations and real‐world contexts. Across five studies conducted in various contexts (total N = 973), we developed a measure of target‐specific shared reality (SR‐T) and examined its role in interpersonal interactions and protective health behaviours. In our initial Studies (1a‐2), we developed a measure of SR‐T and establish psychometric, construct and criterion validity. In Study 3, we established predictive validity by investigating the link between SR‐T and important interpersonal interaction constructs (e.g. interpersonal rapport and epistemic trust in the partner). In Study 4 (preregistered), SR‐T moderated the effect of close others’ attitudes on vaccination and precautionary behaviours against COVID‐19 during the Omicron‐variant peak (2022). Our findings suggest that the experience of SR‐T, assessed with a valid measure, is linked to important dimensions of interpersonal interactions and health decisions in the real world. The terror management health model proposes that COVID-19's association with death should increase a desire for closeness, which could undermine social distancing intentions. Alternatively, social distancing intentions may increase if it has become culturally valued. The present research assessed these claims. We conducted three pre-registered online experiments (N = 409) where we manipulated COVID-19 thoughts, and examined either proximal (i.e. immediate) or distal (i.e. delayed) reactions. Death-thought accessibility, desire for closeness, social distancing intentions, and measures concerning the perceived cultural value of social distancing. COVID-19 thoughts increased death-thought accessibility (Study 1). COVID-19-induced death thoughts increased a distal desire for closeness, particularly in securely attached individuals, but also increased the perceived value of, and intentions to engage in, social distancing (Studies 2 and 3). Our findings demonstrate how proximal strategies may progress to distal strategies when they become embedded within cultural worldviews. Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) is most prevalent during adolescence. It is therefore crucial to further explore factors influencing NSSI. Previous studies had examined the role of bullying victimization or interpersonal relationships in NSSI and had also emphasized the impact of using emotion regulation strategies on NSSI. However, there is a need to further investigate the longitudinal mechanisms between bullying victimization, interpersonal relationships, and NSSI while considering the impact of using different emotion regulation strategies on the mechanisms. This study explored whether interpersonal relationships play a longitudinal mediating role between bullying victimization and NSSI among Chinese adolescents, and compared the moderating effects of different emotion regulation strategies (cognitive reappraisal versus expressive suppression). The objective of this study was to concurrently investigate the long-term factors influencing NSSI in Chinese adolescents from both environmental and emotion regulation perspectives. The participants were 341 Chinese adolescents who engaged in a two-stage survey with a six-month gap. The results indicated that bullying victimization had an indirect effect on adolescent NSSI through the longitudinal mediation of interpersonal relationships. Cognitive reappraisal had a long-term moderating effect on this indirect effect, while expressive suppression did not have a moderating effect. These findings suggest a developmental perspective and comprehensive consideration of the causes of adolescents' NSSI, along with the use of appropriate emotion regulation strategies for intervention. While inadequate relationships in the workplace pose a significant psychosocial risk, quality interpersonal relationships can contribute to positive effects and prevent negative outcomes. Erskine's model of relational needs, not yet studied in the work environment, can provide a more detailed understanding of the needs employees experience in their workplace relationships. We adapted the general Relational Needs Satisfaction Scale (RNSS) for coworker relationships and examined the factor structure of relational needs in the workplace and their connections to various work aspects. The sample comprised 273 participants, including both employees and students, in a workplace setting with coworkers. The results show that the Workplace Relational Needs Satisfaction Scale (W-RNSS) is a valid and reliable instrument (a = 0.93 for the total scale and 0.77 < a < 0.89 for the subscales) for measuring relational needs in coworker relationships. A bi-factor model was the most suitable for describing the data (χ2/df = 1.94, CFI = 0.95, TLI = 0.94, NNFI = 0.94, RMSEA = 0.06, SRMR = 0.04, AIC = 13289.27, BIC = 13506.29), confirming the previously supported 5-factor structure and the general factor. Satisfaction of relational needs was associated with higher work satisfaction, increased work engagement, greater motivation and lower burnout, underscoring the importance of quality interpersonal relationships among employees. Nowadays, inclusive education needs a playful strategy as an indispensable resource in the development of any academic activity, especially in the field of interpersonal relationships, currently they have a greater need due to the high cases found in schools that provide inclusive education with which the same opportunities are sought for all students. The objective of the research was to identify the playful didactic strategies that contribute significantly to the processes of interpersonal relationships of middle school students of the Cruz del Norte Educational Unit of the Portoviejo canton with mild intellectual disability, province of Manabí, Ecuador. Through scientific research and exploratory research, information was collected and analyzed to determine the needs of teachers and students of fifth and seventh grade with respect to the use of a playful strategy that improves interpersonal relationships, and its application in group work. The results obtained in the survey and observation demonstrated in the research the relevance of using a playful strategy that will improve the work of the teacher and contribute efficiently to the interpersonal relationships of students with mild intellectual disabilities. To conclude, approximately four playful strategies were identified and established, distributed according to the subjects of the academic curriculum corresponding to the basic year. These subjects include language and literature, mathematics, natural sciences, social studies, cultural education, physical education, tennis, computer science, French, Portuguese and English. Introduction: Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease that constitutes a priority health problem. Planned health promotion and education actions based on good interpersonal relationships allow Nursing to have an instrument that guides them to prevent illness and promote the quality of care provided to sick people. Objective: to propose a set of independent Nursing actions aimed at the care and promotion of health in type 2 diabetic people according to the theory of Hil-degart Elizabeth Peplau. Methods: a study was carried out with a non-experimental design of a cross-sectional descriptive observational type in the CMF 3-1 during the period from July 2022 to October 2023. The study population was made up of 101 dispensed diabetics and the sample represented by 84 people suffering from type 2 diabe-tes, selected by intentional non-probabilistic sampling, descriptive and inferential statistics techniques were applied. Results: ages between 55 and 64 years predominated in 47.61% of the sample, female sex (66.66%) with intermediate technical studies (34, 52%). Sedentary lifestyle (84.52%), inadequate nutritional habits (77.38%), overweight/obesity (52.38%) were the modifiable risk factors that had the most impact, more than half of the sample had an inadequate level of information about the disease and self-care; Interpersonal relationships evaluated as acceptable predominated (52.38%). Conclusions: a set of independent Nursing actions aimed at the care and promotion of health in type 2 diabetic people were proposed based on Hildegart Elizabeth Peplau's theory of interpersonal relationships. This study reviews the concept of detachment in interpersonal relationships by examining its drivers and outcomes laying the foundation for detachment to potentially be extended to customer-employee relationships. Information from several studies in the fields of psychology and marketing was used to identify and categorize the drivers and outcomes of detachment. Using various search platforms, a total of 75 articles were deemed appropriate for this study and were thus included in the review. The results from this review provide a condensed list of preexisting and potential drivers and outcomes for detachment, each of which, were assigned to broader categories based on similarities and other relevant factors. Similarities were also drawn between detachment in adult interpersonal and customer-attachment figure relationships to solidify detachment's extension to customer-employee relationships. This study contributes to theory by being among the first to provide a summarized list of potential drivers and outcomes of detachment within a single paper, thereby advancing the existing knowledge of detachment. The results of this review may also be of particular importance to psychologists and marketing managers as it provides a comprehensive discussion of how detachment could occur in both interpersonal and customer-employee relationships and the possible consequences thereof. Guaranteeing efficient evacuations in urban communities is critical for preserving lives, minimizing disaster impacts, and promoting community resilience. Challenges such as high population density, limited evacuation routes, and communication breakdowns complicate evacuation efforts. Vulnerable populations, urban infrastructure constraints, and the increasing frequency of disasters further contribute to the complexity. Despite these challenges, the importance of timely evacuations lies in safeguarding human safety, enabling rapid disaster response, preserving critical infrastructure, and reducing economic losses. Overcoming these hurdles necessitates comprehensive planning, investment in resilient infrastructure, effective communication strategies, and continuous community engagement to foster preparedness and enhance evacuation efficiency. This research looks into the complexities of evacuation dynamics within urban residential areas, placing a particular focus on the interaction between joint-rental arrangements and family ties and their influence on evacuation strategies during emergency situations. Using agent-based modeling, evacuation simulation scenarios are implemented using the Changhongfang community (Shanghai) while systematically exploring how diverse interpersonal relationships impact the efficiency of evacuation processes. The adopted methodology encompasses a series of group experiments designed to determine the optimal proportions of joint-rental occupants within the community. Furthermore, the research examines the impact of various exit selection strategies on evacuation efficiency. Simulation outcomes shed light on the fundamental role of interpersonal factors in shaping the outcomes of emergency evacuations. Additionally, this study emphasizes the critical importance of strategic exit selections, revealing their potential to significantly enhance overall evacuation efficiency in urban settings. Sexual violence is a common and harmful form of trauma. In this article collection, EJPT features research on sexual violence spanning levels of the social ecology. First, we discuss the individual-level studies in this collection, which report on sexual violence prevalence, impact, prevention, and intervention. These papers highlight best practices for assessing sexual assault (i.e., via behaviorally-specific questionnaires), indicate the substantial and enduring mental health effects of sexual violence, and suggest that a number of prevention and intervention strategies are feasible and promising. Then, we highlight studies that broaden their lens to survivors’ interpersonal relationships: these studies provide new evidence for the relationship between social support and posttraumatic stress. Broadening the lens further still to community service systems, the studies in this collection highlight the utility of evaluating the functioning of service systems and obtaining input from stakeholders in these systems; they also suggest that digital technologies are a promising strategy to expand reach to interventions. Finally, at the broadest level of the social ecology, these studies suggest that there is still work to do as a society to promote positive change in terms of views of sexual violence and policies that increase access to needed help, and that such changes can impact individual survivors’ experiences. Considered together, this collection clearly demonstrates that sexual violence does not happen in a vacuum, and it highlights the need for more contextually-focused research on this important social issue.

There is a growing need to understand the role of social and personal factors in relation students’ academic engagement. This study aimed to examine the mediating role of self-efficacy in the relationships between interpersonal relationships (parents, peers, and teachers) and learning engagement (cognitive, behavioural, agentic, and emotional) among 477 high school students from Malaysia. The research applied a cross-sectional approach and data was obtained via survey questionnaires. Descriptive statistics were computed, and a structural equation modeling (SEM) approach with AMOS software was utilized for data analysis regarding measurement model and hypotheses testing. The structural model revealed that self-efficacy fully mediated the relationships between interpersonal relationships and the four dimensions of student engagement. The study highlights the importance of positive interpersonal relationships with parents, peers, and teachers in fostering students’ self-efficacy and subsequently enhancing their engagement in various aspects of their academic life. These results have implications for educators and psychological practitioners in promoting supportive environments that foster self-efficacy and engagement among high school students.

In Chinese culture, Confucian thought about interpersonal relationships and family ethics hold significant historical and cultural value. These ideas not only affect individual moral cultivation, but also play a key role in the entire society’s harmony and stability. Beginning with Confucius’ views on concepts, such as friendship and order, the paper examines the concept of interpersonal relationships in Confucius’ thought from five aspects based on the five constant virtues—benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom and sincerity. Based on the five constant virtues of interpersonal relationships, this paper further summarizes and analyzes Confucius’ family ethics concepts and reflects on them. Through reflection and outline of Confucius’ thoughts, we can easily grasp the foundation of Chinese traditional culture and give helpful reference and motivation to the construction of ethics and morality in current culture.

Introduction and Objective :"Friends with benefits" relationships (FWBR) are becoming increasingly common. Defined as friendships involving sexual activity without romantic commitment, FWBRs blur the boundaries between friendship and romance. The aim of this article is to gather the most up-to-date information on "friends with benefits" relationships. Review Methods: A review of studies available on the PubMed platform (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/) was conducted, including articles with free full-text access that used the keywords: “friends with benefits relationship”, “friends with benefits,” "FWB," and "FWBR." Brief Description of the State of Knowledge: Many individuals involved in friends with benefits relationships establish their own rules, and one surprising trend is the frequent observance of sexual exclusivity. Research on the prevalence of FWBRs has focused largely on students in the USA, but there is limited data on FWBRs in Poland, where they appear to be rising in popularity, influenced by dating sites and population migrations. Studies indicate that men, residents of larger cities, and less religious individuals are more likely to participate in FWBRs. Summary: FWBRs offer a unique dynamic where individuals can avoid the emotional commitments and negative traits of traditional romantic relationships. However, these relationships also present challenges, such as differing expectations between the partners and the societal stigma that may be associated with them.
