This study aims to examine the factors contributing to motivation and loyalty among scholars attending international academic conferences. Specifically, the study aims to understand what motivates scholars to participate actively in these events by investigating the interaction between academic skills, academic self-concept, support, motivation, and loyalty. Data were collected from 238 respondents to a structured questionnaire distributed at three international conferences in Indonesia, South Korea, and India. As a result of these findings, academic skills (β = 0.453, t -value = 5.128) and self-concept (β = 0.358, t -value = 3.963) significantly influence perceived support, which encourages motivation and fosters loyalty toward these conferences. Furthermore, motivation serves as a critical mediator, bringing together academic skills and self-esteem with loyalty, suggesting that nurturing these elements has a significant impact on scholars' engagement and commitment to the academic community. The third Asia Pacific Drosophila Neurobiology Conference (APDNC3) was held in the Wako Campus of RIKEN in Tokyo, Japan, from February 27th to March 1st, 2024. While APDNC2 was held in Taiwan in 2019, the global coronavirus pandemic enforced a long hiatus. Hence, APDNC3 was a much‐anticipated meeting that attracted ~218 scientists from 18 different countries and regions, 154 from outside Japan. The meeting was divided into 13 scientific, 2 poster, and 3 career development sessions. Two plenary talks were delivered by Professor Daisuke Yamamoto, from NICT and Professor Claude Desplan from NYU. Thirty‐seven other speakers were invited to give lectures. Eighty‐six poster presenters were selected from submitted abstracts. Talks and posters described how neuronal circuits underlying specific behaviors were identified and how they developed. The presented work also demonstrated circuit‐specific cellular and molecular mechanisms in health and disease. It was clear that technological advances, like molecular genetic tools for identifying, manipulating, and imaging individual neurons and the great granularity of the fly brain connectome, were significantly augmenting research. The 18th Transgenic Technology Meeting, held in Houston, Texas from November 12–15, 2023, was a vibrant international forum. It brought together nearly 400 delegates to discuss advances in transgenic technologies and the science these technologies support. Among them were 329 in-person and 70 remote delegates, representing 26 countries from 5 continents. The event, hosted by the International Society for Transgenic Technologies (ISTT), was set against the backdrop of the Hyatt Regency's panoramic views, reflecting the innovative spirit of the conference. A notable precursor to the main conference was the Allele Design Pre-conference Workshop, which fostered in-depth discussions on state-of-the-art methodologies. The main conference encompassed ten sessions, delving into diverse topics from Precision Animal Models of Human Disease to the use of transgenic animals in Space Biology. Eighty posters provided for a lively exchange of ideas, while the ISTT Prize and other awards highlighted the event's commitment to excellence. Beyond the conference halls, attendees had the opportunity to venture into Houston's Museum District, home to 19 museums in the downtown area, or indulge in unique dining experiences. The alarming surge in atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations underscores the urgent need to embrace clean energy technologies. To date, the primary goal of mankind is to develop innovative approaches to return Earth's ecology to its pre-industrial condition, as a century ago. The special issue (SI) in the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy presents a collection of papers on photosynthetic and biomimetic hydrogen (H2) production, presented at the 'Photosynthesis and Hydrogen Energy Research for Sustainability - 2023' conference, held in Istanbul, Turkey, from 3-9 July 2023 (https://phrs-conference.com). This case study applies Rudolph et al.'s social entrepreneurship model to describe the migration of Let Us Dream's (LUD) face-to-face social entrepreneurial conference to a virtual platform during the COVID-19 pandemic. LUD Triennial International Conference focused on community service initiatives in the areas of education, health, and social services for the purpose of impacting local and international communities in a transformative way. Organizers experienced many positive outcomes (e.g., high attendance and participant satisfaction), human capital, and leadership development of its collaborative volunteer planning teams, and the empowerment of local and global communities. The discussion section elaborates on the social entrepreneurship model findings, and other lessons learned, and provides recommendations for others planning to deliver a virtual or hybrid conference in multicultural contexts. An overview of the details of the Second International Scientific Conference «Ukraine and the USA: Experience and Prospects of Cooperation» (Dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of Establishment of Diplomatic Relations), which took place on November 23, 2017, in the walls of Shevchenko University, is presented in the article. Establishment of research communication and networking is an integral part of scientific life in every country of over the world. Exchange of the thoughts and experience opens the prospects of researching of new aspects, topics, directions and even entire scientific disciplines. One of the most effective channels in this process is providing scientific conferences. In order to support American studies in Ukraine the Department of Modern and Contemporary History of Foreign Countries of the History faculty of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and its partners have already held the international scientific conference «Ukraine and the USA: Experience and Prospects of Cooperation» for the second time. As a result, the author of the article claims that the second conference «Ukraine and the USA: Experience and Prospects of Cooperation» has become another important step towards comprehensive development of American studies in Ukraine and revealed the need of annual providing of such events.

The author of the article was a participant and a student of the XVII International Tolstoy Readings, organized by the scientific center “Russian Literature and Christian Tradition.” The article reviews the course of the conference held at the A. M. Gorky Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences on May 24–25, 2022 transmits the main content of all reports, reports the most interesting turns and decisions in the reasoning of scholars. In the course of analytical comprehension of the reports, the author of the scientific report came to the conclusion about the thematic and problematic breadth of the conference, its great importance in the development of modern Tolstoy studies in Russia and abroad. There is a significant interest in the conference of scholars from different cities, academic and educational organizations of our country and the world.

The International Conference "The Caucasus at the Crossroads of Internation-al Trade and Cultural Exchange (from ancient times to the present)" was held at the National Academy of Sciences of RA on September 5-6, 2022. It was organized by the Institute of Oriental Studies of NAS RA and the Institute of History and Ethnology of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. The conference was attend-ed by about forty researchers from research centers and universities in Armenia, Georgia, Russia, Japan, the United States of America, Iran, and Poland. At the beginning of the conference welcoming speeches were delivered by Academician-Secretary of the Division of Armenian Studies and Social Sciences of NAS RA Academician Yuri Suvaryan, Director of the Institute of the Oriental Studies of NAS RA Robert Ghazaryan, and Director of the Institute of History and Ethnology of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University Giorgi Tcheishvili. In his opening remarks, academician Yuri Suvaryan noted, "the Caucasus is an important cross-road where the interests of many nations and states have been intersecting. I hope this conference will be a key step for the continued development of Caucasian studies. Under current geopolitical conditions new challenges and difficulties are emerging, and this conference should also have a practical purpose, to work out a strategy which will help to face the modern scientific and also geopolitical chal-lenges coming up for the Caucasian peoples.

The authors present the results of the 3rd International Forum on Commitment to Mental Health, which was organized and held by the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of the Faculty of Philology of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University) in cooperation with the National Health League, ManpowerGroup and Clever Consulting LLC (Moscow, October 5-7, 2022). The work of the forum lasted three days and its program was interesting in different formats of interaction: (1) On October 5, 2022, the following events took place online: Round Table on Commitment to Mental Health Issues: Social, Psychological and Medical Aspects, Corporate Section on Best Practices: Managing Psychological Well-Being at the Organizational Level and Section on Practical Guidelines: How to Maintain and Strengthen Psychological Health (online broadcast was organized on the website: https://mentalhealthforum.ru/); (2) On October 6, 2022, RUDN University hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference in a hybrid format at which 194 presentations were offered including: a plenary session, seven panel session, poster session and the Mental Health Film Festival; (3) On October 7, 2022, the International Charitable Sports and Psychological Festival was held (which included a concert, art therapy master classes and outdoor sports activities). The International Forum brought together more than 1000 participants, including psychologists, teachers, medical workers, teachers, graduate students and students from 25 regions of Russia and 14 countries.

The article focuses on the practice research in social work which is an evolving phenomenon. Topics include examines it is both influenced by changes in social work practice and shaped by developments in social work research and an agreed definition of practice research in social work has proved somewhat elusive, though Fisher et al.'s entry in the Oxford Bibliographies in Social Work is helpful in this regard.

The theme of the International Conference on Upstream Energy and digitalization (ICU-PERTAIN) 2022: “Upstream Industries and 4.0 things to overcome the challenges in a low carbon world”. This theme means identifying the key challenges and opportunities of implementation upstream technology and utilization of big data, data science, machine learning, IoT, and many more to achieve national production target and strive to energy transition.

The First International Conference in Systems and Network Medicine gathered together 200 global thought leaders, scientists, clinicians, academicians, industry and government experts, medical and graduate students, postdoctoral scholars and policymakers. Held at Georgetown University Conference Center in Washington D.C. on September 11-13, 2019, the event featured a day of pre-conference lectures and hands-on bioinformatic computational workshops followed by two days of deep and diverse scientific talks, panel discussions with eminent thought leaders, and scientific poster presentations. Topics ranged from: Systems and Network Medicine in Clinical Practice; the role of -omics technologies in Health Care; the role of Education and Ethics in Clinical Practice, Systems Thinking, and Rare Diseases; and the role of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine. The conference served as a unique nexus for interdisciplinary discovery and dialogue and fostered formation of new insights and possibilities for health care systems advances.

"Armenia-Iran. The Historical Past and Present" international conference took place in the conference hall of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (NAS RA) on February 9-10, 2022. The conference was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI). The Institute of Oriental Studies of NAS RA initiated the conference a year ago, circulating the call for proposals. This event is, in fact, a tribute to all the figures who contributed to the establishment and development of the diplomatic relations between Armenia and Iran. The Cultural Center of the Embassy of the IRI in Armenia, as well as the Chair of Iranian Studies of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Yerevan State University (YSU) welcomed the initiative. The State Archives of the Republic of Armenia joined the efforts during the last organizational phase of the conference. Numerous Iranian Studies centers in different countries, including the University of Tehran, the Association of Iranian Studies, The German Oriental Studies Trust, the Caucasus Studies Institute, as well as the Chair of Iranian Studies of the Faculty of Oriental studies of YSU, quicky took up the announcement and shared on their social media pages. As a result, the organizing committee of the Conference received more than 50 applications from Iran, Lebanon, the United States, Pakistan, and Armenia. The organizing committee reviewed the materials and extended the invitation to participate in the conference to 35 scholars. The conference consisted of five sessions. Message greetings by the Catholicos Karekin II, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of RA Ararat Mirzoyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of IRI Hossein Amir Abdullahian were first read for the participants. The President of NAS RA Ashot Saghyan highly appreciated the organization of a conference on Armenia-Iran diplomatic relations and pointed out that deepening of the ties should be kept in the center of attention. The Academician-Secretary of the Division of Armenology and Social Sciences Y. Suvaryan recalled Iran's support for Armenia during the tough times in 1990s.

The conference was the closing moment of the research project of relevant national interest «School Memories between Social Perception and Collective Representation (Italy, 1861-2001)», lasting three years, attended by scholars from 14 Italian universities, who had the opportunity to compare their research with those of other Italian and foreign colleagues. The international event – hosted by the University of Macerata – has provided the opportunity for many participants to enrich the reflection on the theme, to establish valuable synergies and further forms of collaboration in research and to give an authentically international breath to the deepening of a line of investigation that still has many stimuli and suggestions to offer to historians of education and school. The article presents the chronology and results of the International Scientific and Practical Conference Commitment to Mental Health Issues, which was organized and conducted by the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of the Philological Faculty of the Peoples Friendship University of Russia (Moscow, October 7, 2021). The international forum brought together psychologists, medical workers, teachers and students from various universities in Russia and foreign countries (254 participants in total), who discussed current problems of mental health and digitalization during the pandemic.

The 24th edition of the Yugoslav Conference on Materials (YUCOMAT) organized annually by the Materials Research Society of Serbia (MRS-Serbia) was held in Herceg Novi, Montenegro, from 4 September to 8 September 2023. The conference attracted 212 participants and nearly 200 presenters, 17 of which were plenary speakers, while the rest were assigned regular oral or poster presentations. The participants came from over 20 different countries of the world, the most represented among which were Serbia, Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, United States, Montenegro, Lithuania, Italy, Republic of Korea, Romania, Germany, and China. Outside of the five plenary sessions at YUCOMAT and a special session dedicated to MXenes, the conference was divided to five symposia: (i) advanced methods in synthesis and processing of materials; (ii) advanced materials for high-technology applications; (iii) nanostructured materials; (iv) eco-materials and eco-technologies; and (v) biomaterials. In this report, a member of the International Advisory Board of MRS-Serbia gives a digest of the conference, alongside providing a few historical remarks.

In a constantly changing world, any production activity, including transport, requires scientific support, which, in turn, involves the active participation of scientists, as well as the possibility of exchanging views between theorists and practitioners. One of the most effective formats for this is a scientific conference, which allows discussing long-term trends in the development of the industry and ways of early adaptation to them. In the railway sector, scientific conferences have become a regular and effective tool for discussing promising trends in the industry.President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin declared 2021 the Year of Science and Technology. In this regard, it is symbolic that on August 26–27, 2021, the 1st International Scientific and Practical Conference “Science 1520 VNIIZHT: Look Beyond the Horizons” was held on the territory of Test Loop of the JSC “VNIIZHT”. The JSC Railway Research Institute, a leader in the development, creation, testing and implementation of railway equipment and technologies in the 1520 mm track space organized the conference. At the conference, reports were presented both by practitioners and acting managers, and by theoretical scientists. The conference was organized in the form of parallel working sections, the main results of which were discussed at a panel discussion. According to the presentation of the heads of the thematic sections, the best speakers were awarded with diplomas, including many young scientists. According to the assessments of managers and employees of railway enterprises and suppliers, the conference was a useful and longawaited international event in railway science and practice.

From April 22 to 23, 2021, the II International Scientific and Practical Conference from the cycle «World Medicine in Everyday Practice: Another Year of the Pandemic and New Challenges for the Health Service» was held online. The online broadcast of the conference was held in several time zones with the participation of 20 speakers from nine countries of the world, and its listeners were 38,5 thousand doctors from Europe and Asia. The conference focused on news about the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as observing how it is changing daily clinical practice and what challenges it poses for doctors.

Hybrid conferences are in-person events that have an online component. This type of meeting format was rare before the COVID-19 pandemic, but started to become more common recently given the asynchronous global progression of the pandemic, the uneven access to vaccines and different travel regulations among countries that led to a large proportion of participants being unable to attend conferences in person. Here we report the organization of a middle-sized (581 participants: 159 onsite, 422 online) international hybrid conference that took place in France in September 2021. We highlight particular organizational challenges inherent to this relatively new type of meeting format. Furthermore, we surveyed both in-person and online participants to better understand their conference experience and to propose improvements based on the feedback received. Finally, we compare the advantages and disadvantages of three types of conferences (onsite-only, online-only and hybrid) and suggest that hybrid events should be favored in the future because they offer the most flexibility to participants. We conclude by proposing suggestions and ways forward to maximize accessibility and inclusivity of hybrid conferences. Our study brings novel insights on the challenges and opportunities created by hybrid conferences, by reporting not only the organizing committee experience but also by considering the participants’ perspective.

Background: At the end of the 19th century, international communities have realized the necessity of global planning and cooperation. Accordingly, worldwide meetings have been organized for several years. This study aims to assess the achievement of predetermined objectives by international conferences in the field of risk management. Materials and Methods: The search for articles and documents was done using several keywords of "international meetings", "Sendai", "Hyogo", and "Yokohama" in Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Science Direct, Google Scholar databases. Also, the risk management domain websites such as FEMA, UNISDR, and EM-Date were searched. Results: Three Disaster World Conferences have been organized, hosted by Japan: Yokohama 1994, Kobe 2005, and Sendai 2015. They proposed strategies and prioritized actions for managing disaster risk, reducing the risk of disasters, and coping with disasters. In the second and third conferences, as requested by the United Nations (UN General Assembly), the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) helped as the coordinating body. Conclusion: Reducing the risks of disasters is a global issue, which needs international cooperation. Therefore, all countries should take steps to achieve disaster risk reduction goals. Since declaraions, documents, resolutions, and conferences do not impose an obligation on countries in this regard, the success rate of the programs is dependent on voluntary international cooperation. Moreover, while we do not expect that outcomes of these international agreements related to disaster risk reduction be achieved at the scheduled time plan, strengthening the international cooperation of the countries to facilitate the improvement of actions and programs would be effective.

The paper identifies selected determinants of attractiveness of international academic conferences as products on the contemporary international tourism market, especially on the business tourism market. To achieve this aim, methods of analysing the literature, reports, synthesis, along with passive and active observation were used. In addition, a direct survey using a research questionnaire via a website and addressed to participants on an Erasmus International Week in Kaunas was made. Some of the most important conditions of the attractiveness of the conference for participants, including transport and information accessibility as well as to the originality of the destination and the leisure program for participants, were indicated. Contemporary international academic conferences lasting a few days epitomize multiple products on tourism market. The article is empirical, but it also presents ideas for the development of conferences as attractive products in the contemporary economy of the European Union.

From 3 to 4 December 2020, the First International Conference «World Medicine in Everyday Practice», organized by the pharmaceutical and biotechnology company Adamed Pharma, was held online. The conference was attended by more than 6,5 thousand from 9 countries of the world, the focus of which was on topical issues of management in the era of COVID-19 of patients with cardiovascular, endocrine and surgical pathology, as well as bronchial asthma, COPD, severe colitis caused by Clostridioides difficile, disorders sleep, depression and other illnesses. Leading experts from various fields of medicine delivered lectures on topics that are significant for doctors around the world, demonstrated a picture of a pandemic in the future of various regions of the planet, assessed the current state of knowledge about COVID-19 and the clinical consequences of a new coronavirus infection in medical practice. The participants of the event expressed their intention to continue the discussion of topical problems of modern medicine in a series of international meetings initiated by Adamed Pharma, which provided doctors from different countries with a unique opportunity to exchange views and share best practices in the treatment of patients with various diseases against the background of COVID-19.

The IFLA (World Federation of Library Associations and Institutions) Annual Conference (World Library and Information Congress – WLIC) was held on 17–19 August 2021, online for the first time in the organization’s 86-year-long history. In this summary, we give some insight into the rich professional offer of the event, which included more than one hundred and fifty programs. We give a foretaste of some of the features of the broad social discourse that explores what roles libraries have in a dynamically changing social environment and what trends influence their future. Some presenters also took perspectives outside the library sector into account. The conference and workshop titled “404 Not Found – Who preserves the Internet?” was held at the National Széchényi Library on 23–24 November, 2021. For the first day of the conference and workshop we invited web archiving experts from public memory institutions in the surrounding countries, which laid down the foundation of a future collaboration. Staff from the Czech, Croatian, Austrian, Slovak and Slovenian web archives presented their collections, long-term workflows, activities and the technology tools available to them, while the Polish State Archives presented its plans for web archiving. This was followed by a one-hour roundtable discussion on possible areas for future cooperation. In this study, we briefly introduce the web archiving activities in each country based on the presentations and illustrate the ways of cooperation outlined by the participants as a result of the interchange of ideas. For the fifth time, the Institute of Library and Information Science of Eötvös Loránd University, with the participation of more than 50 speakers, organised the largest Hungarian meeting of library and information science in the framework of the Hungarian Science Festival program as an online conference due to the pandemic. At the two-day-long conference, renowned domestic and foreign experts, scientists, academics and doctoral students shared their fresh research and thoughts on the myriad aspects of our interdisciplinary field. A novelty was the implementation of an English-language section entitled “Inspire and Engage” with the Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University in Thailand, based on lectures by students and lecturers of the doctoral program affiliated to the institute. This work is to present the documentation of scientific and tourist expedition to Haikou city and surroundings on Hainan Island, south China, which took place in July 2007. The main aim of this expedition was to take part in the Fifteenth Annual International Conference on Composites/Nano Engineering (ICCE-15). The second aim of this expedition was to document the beuty of Haikou city and landscapes of the surrounding area. Haikou city is modern, clean with large skyscrapers, which is constantly developing. Red and yellow are dominating colors in the city. South of the Haikou city is densely overgrown with tropical vegetation, with humid climate. About 15 kilometers south of the Haikou city there is Haikou Volcanic Cluster Global Geopark, as a tourist attraction visited by domestic and foreign tourists. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The report concludes the results of the international conference organized on 15-16 April 2021 by the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences to commemorate 100 years since the death of Czech born Viennese art historian Max Dvořák’ (1874–1921). It shows the wide range of professional work that Dvořák covered during his short life as well as wide range of possibilities of how his work influenced the art history elaborated after his death. The report also shows the plurality in which Dvořák’s art historical research is interpreted today.

This article presents the general overview of the 13th edition of the international academic conference “Philosophy: The New Generation” that took place at the National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” (NaUKMA) in 2018. The conference was founded in 2006 as an initiative of NaUKMA’s philosophy students supported by the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies. For the following years, it has become an important annual event for the Ukrainian philosophical community. In 2018, the topic of the conference was “History of Philosophy and histories of philosophies”. The conference included the following sections: “The Approaches to the History of Philosophy”; “History of Ideas, Notions, Concepts”; “Epistemological Issues in the History of Philosophy”; “Receptions of the History of Philosophy”; “History of Philosophy and Gender Studies”; and “Oriental Studies”. In addition, two lectures were delivered during the conference: “Subjective Notes from the Recent History of Ukrainian Academic Philosophy of Science” (lecturer: Prof. Dr. Volodymyr Kuznetsov) and “The Vicious Circle of Sexual Politics’ Triumphalism” (lecturer: Dr. Kateryna Honcharenko). Also, two panel discussions took place at the conference: “What to Do with the Philosophical Education” and “The Problems of Philosophical Research in the East”. Although the participants of the conference have covered a large number of topics in their reports, several tendencies can be identified as prevailing. The biggest percentage of reports was connected with a methodology called History of ideas, notions, and concepts, while the discussions related to oriental and gender studies unfolded in the light of critique of Eurocentrism and Androcentrism respectively.

The article presents the basic information about the overal results, significance, international programme committee and working areas of the 8th International Scientific Conference on Defensive Technologies, OTEH 2018, in comparison with the previous seven conferencies. The number of sections, number of papers, number of authors/coauthors, number of sessions and number of members of the scientific committee are presented in the review. Нужно отметить, что в этом году количество работ предоставленных к публикации, по сравнению с конференциями проведенными ранее, было намного меньше. / U ovom prikazu predočene su osnovne informacije o ukupnim rezultatima, značaju, međunarodnom programskom odboru i oblastima rada 8. međunarodnog naučno-stručnog skupa iz oblasti odbrambenih tehnologija OTEH 2018 (8th International Scientific Conference on Defensive Technologies OTEH 2018). Naveden je broj tematskih oblasti, broj radova, broj autora/koautora, broj sesija skupa, kao i članova programskog odbora. Na ovogodišnjem skupu je, u odnosu na prethodnih sedam, bilo najmanje objavljenih radova.

International conference on «Preparing Europe for invasion by the beetles emerald ash borer and bronze birch borer, two major tree-killing pests» took place on October 1–4 2018 at Vienna, Austria. Conference was organized by Austrian research and training center for forests (BFW, Vienna) and UK government Department for environment, food and rural affairs (Defra) within the EUPHRESCO project “Pest risk evaluation and pest management” (PREPSYS). 90 researches from 16 countries took part in the conference. 39 oral and 7 poster presentations were devoted to ecology, behavior, distribution, monitoring and control methods of emerald ash borer Agrilus planipennis – an Asian invasive pest of European and North American ash species and bronze birch borer Agrilus anxius – an American species, potential invader for Europe. Presented information was distributed among few section: (1) the threats: history and potential, (2) European initial perspectives, (3) monitoring and detection, (4) dispersal and range expansion, (5) managing infestations of invasive buprestids, (6) economic and social dimensions of managing pest invasions, (7) taking stock of multiple factors and next steps. The main interest of audience was concentrated on the situation with emerald ash borer in Russia. Secondary range of invader here occupies 13 administrative districts (oblasts): Yaroslavl, Tver, Smolensk, Kaluga, Moscow, Vladimir, Ryazan, Orel, Tula, Tambov, Voronezh, Lipetsk and Volgograd Districts. The pest is extremely close to the border with Belorussia and surely had crossed Ukrainian border. Conference participants pointed out the necessity of urgent consolidation of European countries efforts in preparing for dendrophagous buprestids invasion. This sad and dangerous event can hardly be avoided.

The article presents a brief overview of the proceedings of the 8th International Scientific Conference “Dialogue of Urban and Steppe Cultures in the Eurasian Space” held on September 20–25, 2018 in Pyatigorsk and Praskoveya village in Stavropol of the Russian Federation. The topics of the International Scientific Conference dedicated to the memory of G.А. Fedorov-Davydov covered a wide range of issues on historical geography, characteristics of the material culture and technological impulses of relations between the cultures and civilizations of the Mongol Empire and the Golden Horde. The second series of issues was related to a systematic study of Bolgar settlement and the general activities of the Bolgar Archaeological Expedition. Particular attention was paid to interdisciplinary studies conducted within the framework of the complex project “The Ancient Town of Bolgar and the Island Town of Sviyazhsk” implemented in 2010–2018. The third series of discussed issues was associated with the particular features of the establishment of urban settlements in steppe Eurasia related to topography characteristics and localization of archaeological sites. The issues of the continuity of medieval cultural traditions were considered.

A general comparison of the national and international conferences on knowledge management indicates that national conferences have not been able to cover parts of modern fields of knowledge management. Hence, this research is intended to have a meta-analysis of the national and international knowledge management conferences in different areas first, and in the next phase, to compare national and international conferences to identify the gap between these two areas. Given the goals of the research, the researchers employed quantitative meta-analysis method. First, the national conferences in Iran were analyzed in terms of the content of conferences and the time of their holding. In the next phase, 19 significant international conferences held in 2018 were analyzed in terms of the content, the host country, as well as the month of their holding. Eventually, a comparison was held between these two series of conferences and practical suggestions were presented in this regard. Comparison between the issues related to the national knowledge management conferences in Iran and those of international ones indicated that issues related to organizational intelligence and the use of artificial intelligence in decision making support systems, networking, social media, virtual expert communities and privacy of data have declined. In fact, national knowledge management conferences have not discerned some knowledge management software and it is necessary to pay more attention to them in planning of future conferences.

This non-refereed contribution to the special issue of Journal of Education and Research is a joint reflective note which describes the personal contexts and experiences of the two Masters of Ceremony at the First International Conference on Transformative Education Research and Sustainable Development (TERSD) held on 21-23 October 2016 in Dhulikhel, Nepal. We, one after the other, without any formal background to the paper, relate our own individual experiences and learning of the event. More specifically, we have portrayed our personal journeys to the international conference hall, and described our reflective ideas and feelings on running the three-day event among the national and international research scholars and delegates. We conclude with some final thoughts on how we could embrace the learning opportunity and by making a commitment to joining the transformative education community.

The main directions of the International Conference «STI 2017: Open indicators: innovation, participation and actor-based STI indicators» (Paris, 6-8 September 2017) were the following according to the author's opinion: survey of geographical features, patterns of the science development and a choice of adequate indicators to evaluate these features and patterns; as well as development of new methods for data processing, sharing, analysis and use to assess science and technology. As the conference was held in the format of 4 parallel sessions being carried on simultaneously, the author was compelled to choose the presentations closest to his interests, namely, presentations on scientometrics and related issues. Such a choice was not subjective, because the author being an employee of the Belarusian National Technical University Scientific Library, is engaged in evaluating research activity of scientific organizations and universities (which have long been regarded as an objective of research libraries by serious library specialists of Belarus and Ukraine), as well as of scientific periodicals, and therefore is most interested in information about indicators of research activity of scientific organizations and universities and, especially, about indicators of value and quality of academic periodicals. The presentations that the author has managed to listen to and the discussions that he participated in, transferred via this mini-review seem to be helpful in further bibliometric studies conducted in the Belarusian National Technical University Scientific Library and to be of an interest to the readers of the journal.

The 16th transgenic technology (TT) meeting of the International Society of Transgenic technology (ISTT) took place on October 26–29th 2020 and was quite unique as it was the first-ever virtual meeting in the history of ISTT events. Dr. Rebecca Haffner-Krausz at Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, was the local organizer of the meeting, which attracted 756 registered participants from 32 different countries. "The World Bosai Forum/International Disaster Risk Conference in Sendai," or just "World Bosai Forum" has been held every two years since 2017. The theme of this forum regards what is needed to create "the opportunity" and "the idea" among and between humans and things, how to attract the attention of various stakeholders inside and outside the country in terms of disaster prevention and mitigation, and contributing to discussions on international strategies for disaster prevention. This paper considers how the World Bosai Forum should be by comparing the World Bosai Forum 2017 and the World Bosai Forum 2019, including aspects like their participants and content, to further contribute to disaster prevention and mitigation inside and outside the country.
