Abstract The environmental realm has been acknowledged as a pivotal arena for the emergence and propagation of antimicrobial resistance. To further explore insight into antimicrobial resistance dynamics beyond clinical and veterinary settings, we embarked on an environmental surveillance initiative targeting the prevalence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria within the bustling confines of an international airport in Japan. Our findings illuminate a high prevalence of methicillin-resistant staphylococci (46.3%) on frequently contacted surfaces in the public domain. Notably, Staphylococcus haemolyticus and S. epidermidis emerged as the preeminent carriers of the mecA gene. Intriguingly, we encountered a virulent strain of livestock-associated MRSA harboring a PVL-positive ST1232 clone, CC398 lineage. Further scrutiny unveiled a repertoire of resistance mechanisms, the methicillin-resistant isolates exhibited two or more resistance genes conferring resistance against different types of antibiotics, including beta-lactams, macrolides, lincosamides, aminoglycosides, chloramphenicol, and fosfomycin. Revealing multidrug-resistant CoNS and a LA-MRSA across various surfaces in urban public areas unearths a looming public health hazard. Thus, implementation of molecular surveillance is imperative, augmenting our capacity for early detection and mitigation of the insidious spread and potential transfer of antibiotic resistance genes and virulence factors amidst urban settings, notably within pivotal nodes such as airports.

The paper addresses the issue of evaluating the attractiveness of new airport connections, one of which is a global transfer hub and the other is a regional European international airport. The attractiveness of new connections expressed, for example, by predicting the demand for new flight routes has long been studied, mainly using gravity models. The aim of the presented paper is to check whether an approach based on gravity models could be replaced with other approaches, in this case by multi-criteria evaluation methods. Questions of substitution of approaches based on gravity models, compiled for demand prediction, are relevant in cases where there are not enough input data for existing gravity models. The absence of input data occurs especially in cases where either there is no historical data on the operation of flights, or historical data do not have current significance, e.g. the operation of the flight has been interrupted for a longer time. The results of a study carried out for Ostrava International Airport located in the Czech Republic, show that gravity models for which relevant data are not available can be fully replaced by multi-criteria evaluation methods.

The main problem in this paper is a dispute between the government of West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB) Indonesia, and the government of Central Lombok Regency about the fight to name the airport. This paper aims to explain that the struggle for the name of Lombok International Airport (BIL) to become Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport (BIZAM) in Lombok has become a dispute between Levels 1 and 2 local governments. The form of conflict is that the NTB Level 1 local government wants an airport called BIZAM, while the Central Lombok Level 2 regional government wants BIL. This paper uses in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation methods. The results of this paper show that the conflict occurs because there are planned elements carried out by Levels 1 and 2 local governments that are indirectly affiliated with one particular religious or social group in the fight for airport naming. For this reason, this article implies that the conflict occurs solely because it wants to maintain the identity and for the sake of the self-esteem of each group or socio-religious organization. International airports are responding to the threat of climate change and various man-made hazards by proposing impact protection measures. Airport managers and risk controllers should develop a comprehensive risk assessment model to measure the mutual influence relationships of resilience factors. In this paper, the problem of treating resilience factors as independent ones in previous studies is overcome. In this study, we not only develop a framework for assessing resilience factors in international airports based on an aviation safety perspective, but also develop the Fermatean fuzzy decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (FF-DEMATEL) to identify the mutual influence relationships of resilience factors. Fermatean fuzzy sets are incorporated in DEMATEL to reflect information incompleteness and uncertainty. The critical resilience factors of international airports were identified through real-case analysis. In terms of importance, the results show that rescue capability is a core capability that is important for airport resilience. In addition, "security management system (SeMS) integrity", "education and training of ground staff on airport safety awareness", "first aid mechanism for the injured", and "adequate maintenance equipment for rapid restoration tasks" are identified as key factors that are given more weights. On the other hand, in terms of influence strength, the detection capability has the highest total influence and significantly influenced the other resilience capabilities. Finally, the influential network relation map (INRM) is utilized to assist decisionmakers in swiftly comprehending the impact of factors and formulating viable strategies to enhance airport resilience. ObjectiveTo conduct on-site epidemiological investigation， emergency response， tracing of infection source and analysis of a confirmed COVID-19 case of a foreign airline cargo service staff member in Shanghai’s international airport， aiming to provide reference for prevention of imported COVID-19 cases under regular prevention and control of COVID-19.MethodsA retrospective field epidemiological investigation was conducted to collect information of basic characteristics， illness onset， diagnosis， treatment， clinical manifestations， exposure history and risk factors within 14 days before onset， close contacts， close contacts of close contacts， and key places related to activity trajectories. Respiratory tract specimens of cases and contacts were collected for detection of SARS-CoV-2 by real time RT-PCR （rRT-PCR）. Emergency response， including infection source analysis and contact management， was conducted.ResultsThe case developed pharyngeal itch on July 28， 2021， and fever on the 30th， and went to the hospital for treatment twice on the 31st. Because his specimen was positive for SARS-CoV-2 by rRT-PCR on August 1， he was isolated and treated on August 2 and diagnosed as a confirmed case of COVID-19. The case was a foreign airline cargo service member at an international airport. The two regular nucleic acid screenings of him as a high-risk occupation on July 21 and 28 were negative. He did not leave Shanghai within 14 days before the onset of illness. During July 22nd and 23rd， he was repeatedly exposed during work to the high-risk environment that may have been contaminated by SARS-CoV-2 and had contact with the crew of foreign airlines， and the personal protection was not standardized. None of the 67 close contacts and 567 close contacts of close contacts in Shanghai showed symptoms during the 14-day medical quarantine， and the specimens of them were all negative for SARS-CoV-2 by rRT-PCR. The results of genome sequencing analysis showed that the genomic homology between the virus of the case and the one of recent domestic local epidemic and the recent imported cases was low， and the homology with the overseas Delta mutant strain was higher than that of the domestic Delta mutant strain.ConclusionThe situation of prevention of COVID-19 import is still serious. It is necessary to conduct regular nucleic acid screening for high-risk occupational groups， strengthen the diagnosis and reporting awareness of medical institutions， effectively implement the prevention and control measures for people， objects， and environment at international airports， and further enhance the public's awareness of personal protection.

COVID-19 is currently considered one of the greatest threats to health, safety, and the economy worldwide. An intense movement of international passengers may be critical for either the contingency or the spread of disease in a pandemic situation. Various research on international and national epidemics and their evolution have already been addressed in the medical literature. However, there are few studies to measure the influence of air transport on the proliferation of COVID-19 in Brazil yet. Thus, this article aims to verify if the movement of international air passengers influenced the COVID-19 spreading in Brazil. Therefore, air traffic and its concentration were analyzed, trying to identify its main entrances and volume of passengers. Afer that, statistical regression methods were used to estimate how passengers coming from countries contaminated by COVID-19 influenced the spread of the disease in Brazil. As a main result, it was found that foreign passengers disembarked in Brazil are directly related to the cases of COVID-19 in the country, making air transport a gateway to the virus in Brazil.

In this paper, the availability and use of conventional and aviation-specific information and communication technologies by airport workers are examined. A sample survey research design and a purposive sampling technique were adopted. By using a questionnaire, quantitative data were collected from 213 staff of the airport, who were available during the survey and were willing to complete the instruments. Further, qualitative data were collected from two heads of departments by using an interview schedule. The conventional technologies of computers, printers, and photocopiers, among others, were reportedly available and used. Common-use terminal equipment and flight information display systems were reportedly the aviation-specific technologies known by the largest number of respondents (84% each), while the biometric identification system was known by the least number of respondents (43.6%). The respondents reported increasing use of these technologies in the last five years. The members of staff of the organisation have very fair opinions about their knowledge of the use and deployment of information and communication technologies, but they identified infrastructural constraints and the high cost of equipment maintenance as hitches to the adequate deployment of the ICTs. Continuous training--that covers both conventional ICT and aviation-specific information and communication technologies--is required to improve the performance of airport staff. The article is aimed at substantiating the modern most important components of the innovation base of competitiveness in the conditions of globalization transformations. Features of management of global competitiveness of countries are considered; the key components of formation of a modern innovation base of competitiveness in conditions of globalization transformations are defined; the role and importance of the infrastructure of international airports in the system of socio-economic well-being and increasing the global competitiveness are substantiated; instruments for increasing competitive advantages of the airport infrastructure are defined. The research applied both general scientific and special methods of scientific cognition: descriptive-analytical method, method of analysis and synthesis, methods of quantitative and qualitative comparisons. The information basis of the article are monographic researches and periodical publications by domestic and foreign scholars-economists, materials and analytical reports of the World Economic Forum, the International Institute of Management Development, OECD, International Civil Aviation Organization, International Air Transport Association, aggregated data provided by the International Council of Airports. The main provisions of the article will help to accelerate the solution of issues of identifying modern innovative factors, as well as substantiating the conditions and directions of increasing the global competitiveness of countries. The novelty of the research is the development and substantiation of methodical provisions of scientific provision of global competitiveness of countries in the world-wide economy. This work provides an opportunity for further research into the management of international competitiveness of airport infrastructure and enhancing the global competitiveness of countries.

The paper refers to security requirements for new threats international airports, taking specifically into consideration current challenges within processing of passengers, in light of types of current major threats, in a way ensuring positive passenger experience within their journey. In addition, within the scope of this paper, presented initial outcome of study research among professional aviation stakeholder?s environment, on current threats in the area of security and protection of airport infrastructure. The airports are a very demanding environment: seasonal traffic, fluctuating passenger volumes and last minute changes mean there is a lot of flexibility required in order to meet specific needs of airport authorities and their clients or the passengers (Dolnik, 2009). Therefore, security in aviation sector has been a big issue for civil aviation authorities, as airports are susceptible targets for terrorist attacks. The list of incidents is extensive and gets longer every year despite strict security measures. Within decades, aviation has become the backbone of our global economy bringing people to business, tourists to vacation destinations and products to markets. Statistically flying remains the safest mode of travelling compared to other modes of transportation. However, simultaneously terrorists and criminals continue in their quest to explore new ways of disrupting air transportation and the challenge to secure airports and airline assets remain real. This calls for greater awareness of security concerns in the aviation sector. The key element, how to protects against terrorist modus operandi, is to stay ahead of recent threats, incidents and breaches occurring worldwide. It requires implementation of effective data sharing systems, in order to proactively monitor potential risks and vulnerabilities within different type of aviation ecosystems.

Hub airports are the ones that model networks in which most journeys go via a few central points. Famous hub airports deliver positive social and environmental impact to the communities along with economic effects. This paper is about to investigate indicators related to hub performance excellence from various angles, considering leading hub airports performance while determining the priorities in order to help airports especially in developing countries to find the way of progress. A list of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) is prepared from the literature, which is prioritized using Best-Worst Method (BWM). The weights of these criteria are specified via application of interval type-2 fuzzy BWM. Then using five most important criteria, MACBETH (Measuring Attractiveness by a Categorical Based Evaluation TecHnique) ranking approach is used to analyse 19 Iranian international airports and find the most appropriate one for being hub airport. The results show Kish airport with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) code “OIBK” is prior to other airports and can be chosen as the hub airport that means Iran airports holding company is suggested to focus more investments in this airport to gain fastest possible benefits of an international hub airport.
