We have searched for a heavy resonance decaying into a Z+jet final state in p-pbar collisions at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron collider using the D0 detector. No indication for such a resonance was found in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 370/pb. We set upper limits on the cross section times branching fraction for heavy resonance production at the 95% C.L. as a function of the resonance mass and width. The limits are interpreted within the framework of a specific model of excited quark production., Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures, submitted to Physical Review D

D0; We present a search for the standard model Higgs boson in $H \to WW^{(*)}$, decays with $e^+e^-, e^\pm e^\mp$ and $\mu^+\mu^-$ final states in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}$ = 1.96-TEV. The data, collected from April 2002 to June 2004 with the D0 detector, correspond to an integrated luminosity of 300 - 325 pb$^{(-1)}$, depending on the final state. The number of events observed is consistent with the expectation from backgrounds. Limits from the combination of all three channels on the Higgs production cross section times branching ratio $\sigma\times BR(H _to WW^{*})$ are presented.

We present a search for Higgs bosons decaying into b-bbar and produced in association with W bosons in p-pbar collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV. This search uses 320 pb-1 of the dataset accumulated by the upgraded Collider Detector at Fermilab. Events are selected that have a high-transverse momentum electron or muon, missing transverse energy, and two jets, one of which is consistent with a hadronization of a b quark. Both the number of events and the dijet mass distribution are consistent with standard model background expectations, and we set 95% confidence level upper limits on the production cross section times branching ratio for the Higgs boson or any new particle with similar decay kinematics. No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2005-06-03 We present a measurement of the W+W- production cross section using 184pb-1 of pp̄ collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV collected with the Collider Detector at Fermilab. Using the dilepton decay channel W+W-→ℓ+νℓ-ν̄, where the charged leptons can be either electrons or muons, we find 17 candidate events compared to an expected background of 5.0-0.8+2.2 events. The resulting W+W- production cross-section measurement of σ(pp̄→W+W-)=14.6-5.1+5.8(stat)-3.0+1.8(syst) ±0.9(lum)pb agrees well with the standard model expectation. © 2005 The American Physical Society. D0; The WWgamma triple gauge boson coupling parameters are studied using p-pbar -> l nu gamma + X (l = e,mu) events at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV. The data were collected with the DO detector from an integrated luminosity of 162 pb^{-1} delivered by the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The cross section times branching fraction for p-pbar -> W(gamma) + X -> l nu gamma + X with E_T^{gamma} > 8 GeV and Delta R_{l gamma} > 0.7 is 14.8 +/- 1.6 (stat) +/- 1.0 (syst) +/- 1.0 (lum) pb. The one-dimensional 95% confidence level limits on anomalous couplings are -0.88 < Delta kappa_{gamma} < 0.96 and -0.20 < lambda_{gamma} < 0.20.

We present a measurement of the Z\gamma production cross section and limits on anomalous ZZ\gamma and Z\gamma\gamma couplings for form-factor scales of Lambda = 750 and 1000 GeV. The measurement is based on 138 (152) candidate events in the ee\gamma (\mu\mu\gamma) final state using 320 (290) pb^{-1} of ppbar collisions at \sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV. D0; We present a measurement of the W boson pair-production cross section in p anti-p collisions at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV. The data, collected with the Run II DO detector, correspond to an integrated luminosity of 224-252 pb^-1 depending on the final state (ee, emu or mumu). We observe 25 candidates with a background expectation of 8.1+/-0.6(stat)+/-0.6(syst)+/-0.5(lum) events. The probability for an upward fluctuation of the background to produce the observed signal is 2.3x10^-7, equivalent to 5.2 standard deviations.The measurement yields a cross section of 13.8+4.3/-3.8(stat)+1.2/-0.9(syst)+/-0.9(lum) pb, in agreement with predictions from the standard model.

D0; Using the data collected with the DZero detector at sqrt(s)=1.96-TeV, for integrated luminosities of about 180 pb^{-1}, we have measured the ratio of inclusive cross sections for p+pbar->Z+bjet to p+pbar->Z+jet production. The inclusive Z+b-jet reaction is an important background to searches for the Higgs boson in associated ZH production at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. Our measurement is the first of its kind, and relies on the Z->e^+e^- and Z->mu^+mu^- modes. The combined measurement of the ratio yields 0.023 +/- 0.005 for hadronic jets with transverse momenta p_T>20 GeV/c and pseudorapidities |eta

- Abstract
We report the first measurements of inclusive W and Z cross sections times leptonic branching ratios for pp¯ collisions at s√=1.96 TeV, based on their decays to electrons and muons. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 72 pb−1 recorded with the CDF detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. We test e-μ universality in W decays, and we measure the ratio of leptonic W and Z rates from which the leptonic branching fraction B(W→ℓν) can be extracted as well as an indirect value for the total width of the W and the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element V cs

- Abstract
We present a measurement of the W+W- production cross section using 184/pb of ppbar collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV collected with the Collider Detector at Fermilab. Using the dilepton decay channel W+W- -> l+l-vvbar, where the charged leptons can be either electrons or muons, we find 17 candidate events compared to an expected background of 5.0+2.2-0.8 events. The resulting W+W- production cross section measurement of sigma(ppbar -> W+W-) = 14.6 +5.8 -5.1 (stat) +1.8 -3.0 (syst) +-0.9 (lum) pb agrees well with the Standard Model expectation.

- Abstract
We report the first measurements of inclusive W and Z cross sections times leptonic branching ratios for pp¯ collisions at s√=1.96 TeV, based on their decays to electrons and muons. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 72 pb−1 recorded with the CDF detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. We test e-μ universality in W decays, and we measure the ratio of leptonic W and Z rates from which the leptonic branching fraction B(W→ℓν) can be extracted as well as an indirect value for the total width of the W and the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element

The decay mode into a pair of photons is the cleanest way to find a Higgs boson with intermediate mass of great future proton collider at CERN, the LHC. Since the natural width of the Higgs is very narrow in this area, its observation in this channel is based on the performance of the electromagnetic calorimeter. A comprehensive study was conducted to evaluate the discovery potential of ATLAS detector. The parameters and geometry of liquid argon electromagnetic calorimeter has been optimized. The simulation results used for this work are confirmed by tests on a prototype beam. This simulation includes different contributions as the end of sampling, electronic sounds and stacking, the total constant term of the calorimeter and measuring the direction of the photon emission angle of the pair. The level of background noise irreducible pairs of direct photons was evaluated, as is the background noise reducible jets of hadrons, particularly that of the isolated neutral pions. For this, the detector's ability to reject these background noise was estimated. The calculation of the invariant mass resolution of photon pairs and the estimated rate of signal events and background noise were used to calculate the Higgs discovery potential of the ATLAS detector for this channel. A systematic effect more than five standard deviations will be highlighted in a year of data taking at the LHC if the Higgs boson mass is 100 GeV/c2 and 150 GeV/c2.; Le mode de désintégration en une paire de photons est la signature la plus claire permettant de rechercher un boson de Higgs de masse intermédiaire auprès du futur grand collisionneur de protons du CERN, le LHC. Puisque la largeur naturelle du Higgs est très faible dans cette zone, son observation dans ce canal repose sur les performances du calorimètre électromagnétique. Une étude complète a été effectuée pour évaluer le potentiel de découverte du détecteur ATLAS. Les paramètres et la géométrie du calorimètre électromagnétique à argon liquide ont été optimisés. Les résultats de la simulation utilisée pour ce travail sont confirmés par des tests sur faisceau d'un prototype. Cette simulation inclut différentes contributions comme le terme d'échantillonnage, les bruits d'électronique et d'empilement, le terme constant global du calorimètre et la mesure de direction de l'angle d'émission des photons de la paire. Le niveau de bruit de fond irréductible des paires de photons directs a été évalué, tout comme celui du bruit de fond réductible des jets de hadrons, et plus particulièrement celui des pions neutres isolés. Pour cela, la capacité du détecteur à rejeter ces bruits de fonds a été estimée. Le calcul de la résolution de masse invariante des paires de photons et l'estimation du taux d'événements de signal et de bruit de fond ont permis de calculer le potentiel de découverte du Higgs par le détecteur ATLAS pour ce canal. Un effet systématique à plus de cinq écarts types sera mis en évidence en une année de prise de données au LHC, si la masse du boson de Higgs est comprise entre 100 GeV/c2 et 150 GeV/c2.

- Abstract
We have searched for a heavy resonance decaying into a Z+jet final state in p-pbar collisions at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron collider using the D0 detector. No indication for such a resonance was found in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 370/pb. We set upper limits on the cross section times branching fraction for heavy resonance production at the 95% C.L. as a function of the resonance mass and width. The limits are interpreted within the framework of a specific model of excited quark production.
