High internal phase emulsions (HIPEs) have been of great interest for fabricating fluorinated porous polymers having controlled pore structures and excellent physicochemical properties. However, it remains a challenge to prepare stable fluorocarbon HIPEs, due to the lack of suitable surfactants. By randomly grating hydrophilic and fluorophilic side chains to polyphosphazene (PPZ), a comb-like amphiphilic PPZ surfactant with biodegradability is designed and synthesized for stabilizing water/fluorocarbon oil-based emulsions. The hydrophilic-lipophilic balance of PPZs can be controlled by tuning the grating ratio of the two side chains, leading to the preparation of stable water-in-oil HIPEs and oil-in-water emulsions, and the production of fluorinated porous polymers and particles by polymerizing the oil phase. These fluorinated porous polymers show excellent thermal stability and, due to the hydrophobicity and porous structure, applications in the field of oil/water separation can be achieved.

Single-gene missense mutations remain challenging to interpret. Here, we deploy scalable functional screening by sequencing (SEUSS), a Perturb-seq method, to generate mutations at protein interfaces of RUNX1 and quantify their effect on activities of downstream cellular programs. We evaluate single-cell RNA profiles of 115 mutations in myelogenous leukemia cells and categorize them into three functionally distinct groups, wild-type (WT)-like, loss-of-function (LoF)-like, and hypomorphic, that we validate in orthogonal assays. LoF-like variants dominate the DNA-binding site and are recurrent in cancer; however, recurrence alone does not predict functional impact. Hypomorphic variants share characteristics with LoF-like but favor protein interactions, promoting gene expression indicative of nerve growth factor (NGF) response and cytokine recruitment of neutrophils. Accessible DNA near differentially expressed genes frequently contains RUNX1-binding motifs. Finally, we reclassify 16 variants of uncertain significance and train a classifier to predict 103 more. Our work demonstrates the potential of targeting protein interactions to better define the landscape of phenotypes reachable by missense mutations.

Lithium fluoride (LiF) is a ubiquitous component in the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer in Li-ion batteries. However, its nanoscale structure, morphology, and topology, important factors for understanding LiF and SEI film functionality, including electrode passivity, are often unknown due to limitations in spatial resolution of common characterization techniques. Ultrabroadband near-field synchrotron infrared nanospectroscopy (SINS) enables such detection and mapping of LiF in SEI layers in the far-infrared region down to ca. 322 cm-1 with a nanoscale spatial resolution of ca. 20 nm. The surface sensitivity of SINS and the large infrared absorption cross section of LiF, which can support local surface phonons under certain circumstances, enabled characterization of model LiF samples of varying structure, thickness, surface roughness, and degree of crystallinity, as confirmed by atomic force microscopy, attenuated total reflectance FTIR, SINS, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, high-angle annular dark-field, and scanning transmission electron microscopy. Enabled by this approach, LiF within SEI films formed on Cu, Si, and metallic glass Si40Al50Fe10 electrodes was detected and characterized. The nanoscale morphologies and topologies of LiF in these SEI layers were evaluated to gain insights into LiF nucleation, growth, and the resulting nuances in the electrode surface passivity.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the bonding effectiveness of two HEMA/BPA-free universal adhesives (UAs) to flat dentin, to characterize their adhesive-dentin interfacial ultrastructure, and to measure their water sorption (Wsp), water solubility (Wsl), and hydrophobicity. Materials and Methods: The immediate and aged (50,000 thermocycles) microtensile bond strength (μTBS) to flat dentin of the HEMA/BPA-free UAs Healbond Max (HbMax; Elsodent) and Healbond MP (HbMP; Elsodent) as well as the reference adhesives OptiBond FL (Opti-FL; Kerr), Clearfil SE Bond 2 (C-SE2; Kuraray Noritake), and Scotchbond Universal (SBU; 3M Oral Care) was measured. The adhesive-dentin interfaces of HbMax and HbMP were characterized by TEM. Wsp and Wsl of all adhesive resins and of the primer/adhesive resin mixtures of HbMax, Opti-FL, and C-SE2 were measured. Hydrophobicity was determined by measuring the contact angle of water dropped on adhesive-treated dentin. Results: In terms of μTBS, HbMax and HbMP performed statistically similarly to Opti-FL and C-SE2, but outperformed SBU. Aging only significantly reduced the μTBS of SBU when applied in E&R bonding mode. TEM revealed typical E&R and SE hybrid-layer ultrastructures at dentin, while electron-lucent globules of unknown origin, differing in size and shape, were observed within the adhesive resin of HbMP and even more frequently in that of HbMax. Higher Wsp was measured for the primer/adhesive resin mixtures than for the adhesive resins. Opti-FL was more hydrophobic than all other adhesives tested. Conclusion: The HEMA/BPA-free UAs bonded durably to flat dentin with bond strengths comparable to those of the goldstandard E&R/SE adhesives and superior to that of the HEMA/BPA-containing 1-step UA. Abstract: The aim of this study is to enable the hydrogen economy and decarbonize various sectors in our environment that requires less expensive and more durable water electrolyzers, which can meet the Hydrogen-Shot target. The key is to improve the ionomer interfaces in low-temperature water electrolyzers as rapidly as possible, but to do so, it requires a systematic and holistic campaign combining both experiments and theory. In this perspective, we discuss the issues of electrolyzers and needs for translational science. We then present the approach that the Energy EarthShot Research Center: Center for Ionomer-based Water Electrolysis is taking in hopes of inspiring the community with this approach that can be leveraged to multiple problems and technologies. Studying the time and length scales of interfacial changes can be a powerful tool to understand reaction mechanisms and changes in the electrolyzer performance and durability.

Tunability of interfacial effects between two-dimensional (2D) crystals is crucial not only for understanding the intrinsic properties of each system, but also for designing electronic devices based on ultra-thin heterostructures. A prerequisite of such heterostructure engineering is the availability of 2D crystals with different degrees of interfacial interactions. In this work, we report a controlled epitaxial growth of monolayer TaSe2 with different structural phases, 1H and 1 T, on a bilayer graphene (BLG) substrate using molecular beam epitaxy, and its impact on the electronic properties of the heterostructures using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. 1H-TaSe2 exhibits significant charge transfer and band hybridization at the interface, whereas 1 T-TaSe2 shows weak interactions with the substrate. The distinct interfacial interactions are attributed to the dual effects from the differences of the work functions as well as the relative interlayer distance between TaSe2 films and BLG substrate. The method demonstrated here provides a viable route towards interface engineering in a variety of transition-metal dichalcogenides that can be applied to future nano-devices with designed electronic properties.

This study investigates the band alignment of the Zn0.8Mg0.2O/Sb2Se3 interface structure to improve solar cell performance. Sb2Se3 is a promising absorber material. However, Sb2Se3 solar cells exhibit a lower conversion efficiency than CuInGaSe2 and CdTe solar cells. The lower efficiency of Sb2Se3 solar cells is attributed to the severe open‐circuit voltage loss caused by the band structure at the buffer/Sb2Se3 interface. Sb2Se3 solar cells typically employ CdS as the buffer layer, and the CdS/Sb2Se3 interface exhibits a cliff structure, which results in interfacial recombination. By contrast, a ZnMgO buffer layer can form a spike structure with Sb2Se3 at their interface, which reduces recombination and, as a result, enhances conversion efficiency. Therefore, this study employs the ZnMgO buffer layer and analyzes their material properties with various Mg contents and band structure at buffer/absorber layer interface. A ZnMgO buffer layer is sputter‐deposited on Sb2Se3. The optical bandgap of ZnMgO is 3.3–3.72 eV, corresponding to an Mg content of 0–0.35 at%. The carrier concentration indicates an appropriate doping level ranging from 1014 to 1016 cm−3. The Zn0.8Mg0.2O/Sb2Se3 interface is characterized via interface‐induced band bending. The Zn0.8Mg0.2O/Sb2Se3 interface exhibits a spike structure with a positive delta conduction band offset of +0.193 eV. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The phenomenon of hydrogen trapping in precipitates of steels is well-recognized, though a precise atomic level understanding remain elusive, leading to ongoing debates. This study highlights the specific roles of interfaces under various coherent conditions through first-principle calculations, incorporating local stress level, which is a novel aspect seldom explored in previous studies. It was found that coherent interfaces exhibit varying hydrogen-trapping capacities depending on their defect states, with the lowest hydrogen solution energy reaching −0.83 eV, primarily functioning as reversible traps. In contrast, derivative interfaces demonstrate superior hydrogen-trapping capacity, with hydrogen solution energy reaching −1.28 eV, classifying them as irreversible sites. Specific tensile or compressive stresses do not necessarily enhance the entrapment or release of hydrogen at precipitate interfaces; instead this depends on the characteristics of polyhedral interstices within the interfaces, with residual stress from hydrogen segregation also playing a critical role. These findings help address certain apparent controversies and advance understanding of the hydrogen embrittlement mechanism. Due to its inherent ductility, Ag2S shows promise as a flexible thermoelectric material for harnessing waste heat from diverse sources. However, its thermoelectric performance remains subpar, and existing enhancement strategies often compromise its ductility. In this study, a novel Sn‐doping‐induced biphasic structuring approach is introduced to synergistically control electron and phonon transport. Specifically, Sn‐doping is incorporated into Ag2S0.7Se0.3 to form a biphasic composition comprising (Ag, Sn)2S0.7Se0.3 as the primary phase and Ag2S0.7Se0.3 as the secondary phase. This biphasic configuration achieves a competitive figure‐of‐merit ZT of 0.42 at 343 K while retaining exceptional ductility, exceeding 90%. The dominant (Ag, Sn)2S0.7Se0.3 phase bolsters the initially low carrier concentration, with interfacial boundaries between the phases effectively mitigating carrier scattering and promoting carrier mobility. Consequently, the optimized power factor reaches 5 µW cm−1 K−2 at 343 K. Additionally, the formation of the biphasic structure induces diverse micro/nano defects, suppressing lattice thermal conductivity to a commendable 0.18 W m−1 K−1, thereby achieving optimized thermoelectric performance. As a result, a four‐leg in‐plane flexible thermoelectric device is fabricated, exhibiting a maximum power density of ≈49 µW cm−2 under the temperature difference of 30 K, much higher than that of organic‐based flexible thermoelectric devices. Highlights Electrostatic adsorption was used to self‐assemble layers of polymers and nanoparticles with varying charges onto the carbon fiber (CF) surface. This process created two distinct ionic crosslinked network layers: (3‐aminopropyl) triethoxysilane‐phytic acid‐polyethyleneimine (APTES‐PA‐PEI) and (3‐aminopropyl) triethoxysilane‐phytic acid‐nano‐silica (APTES‐PA‐SiO2). Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer (FTIR) and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used to confirm the presence of ionic interactions. The modified carbon fibers (CFs) exhibited increased surface roughness, higher concentration of functional groups, and improved wettability. Compared to untreated CF composites, the interfacial shear strength (IFSS) and the transverse tensile strength test (TFBT) of CF‐APTES‐PA‐PEI/epoxy composites increased by 67.8% and 62%, respectively. In contrast, the IFSS and TFBT of CF‐APTES‐PA‐SiO2/epoxy composites increased by 63.3% and 52.8%, respectively. The observed strengthening is attributed to the combined effects of ionic crosslinked networks, covalent and hydrogen bonding interactions, enhanced wettability, and the relatively roughened fiber surface. The interfacial layer design approach proposed in this study is both straightforward and effective, demonstrating significant potential for functionalizing CFs. Highlights The use of polyacrylic acid‐polypropylene‐polyacrylic acid triblock copolymers (PAA‐iPP‐PAA, abbreviated as iPP‐PAA) with different acrylic acid contents (9, 19.5, 29 wt%) as compatibilizers for carbon fiber (CF)/polypropylene (PP) composites and their effect on the tensile properties of the composites were investigated. The addition of iPP‐PAA improved the tensile properties of the CF/PP composites. This enhancement in mechanical properties was considered to be due to the hydrogen bonding network between iPP‐PAAs, which improved the mechanical properties of the matrix resin itself, and to hydrogen bonding between carbon fiber surface and iPP‐PAAs, which improved the interfacial adhesion. A higher acrylic acid content of iPP‐PAA resulted in better interfacial properties; however, excessive acrylic acid content adversely affected the crystallinity and tensile properties of the composite, which suggests that there is an optimum acrylic acid content for the iPP‐PAA. The results indicated that iPP‐PAA is an effective compatibilizer in CF/PP composites, and the iPP‐PAA with the best performance had an acrylic acid content of 19.5%. PAA‐PP‐PAA copolymers used as compatibilizers for CF/PP composites. Acrylic acid content of PAA‐PP‐PAA varied as 9%, 19.5%, and 29%. Tensile properties of CF/PP composites enhanced by iPP‐PAA addition. Hydrogen bonding improved mechanical properties of matrix resin and CF‐resin adhesion. Poly(para‐xylylene) (PPX) is a robust and biocompatible coating material that is widely used in various applications, including electronics, aerospace and defense materials, automotive materials, and biomaterials. In this progress report, recent developments in PPX technology ranging from the advancement of physical chemistry properties and structural properties for device integration to the transformation of 3D monolith materials of PPX with controls in outer and inner structures at the micro‐ and nanometer scales are highlighted. Based on emerging chemistry studies on [2.2]paracyclophanes, which are primarily used precursors to synthesize PPX via vapor deposition polymerization, functionalization, and the creation of a wide variety of functional PPX derivatives are demonstrated without resistance. Widely used as an interface coating material, PPX is processed to form integrated structural materials and has already been found to be useful in the market as part of electronic and medical implant products. Using a newly innovated transformation to fabricate PPX through templates (metal‐organic frameworks, liquid crystal, ice crystal), 3D monoliths, nanoscale particles, hierarchical and gradient interior structures, and dynamically transformable shapes at the nanoscale are demonstrated. In proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs), the interfacial contact resistance (ICR) of amorphous carbon (a-C) coated metallic bipolar plates (BPs) increased with the passage of time, thereby severely limiting their widespread application. The performance of a-C coated BPs was considerably influenced by interface-induced degradation, which in turn was highly sensitive to sp2/sp3, size of sp2 clusters, and compactness of a-C. These factors were closely linked to the underlying metal transition layers and dependent on the deposition temperature. Therefore, in order to elucidate the impact of interface structure on their performance, a series of a-C coatings with Cr transition layer were magnetron sputtered onto 316L stainless steel at temperatures ranging from room temperature (R.T.) to 400 °C. The results revealed that as the deposition temperature increased, the a-C coatings became more porous and exhibited columnar growth characteristics attributed to the hill-like interface structures of the Cr transition layer. Additionally, both the sp2 content and cluster size of a-C increased. Correspondingly, the initial ICR decreased from 2.89 Ω cm2 at R.T. to 1.62 Ω cm2 at 400 °C. Furthermore, in long-term corrosion tests, both the ICR after corrosion and metal ion concentrations in the corrosion solution rose rapidly. Notably, the a-C coating deposited at 100 °C showed the lowest corrosion current density of 5.81 × 10−4 μA/cm2 and the smallest increase rate (65.9%) of ICR after the long-term electrochemical corrosion test, owing to its high sp2 content and dense structure. • Sp2 cluster size of a-C films were separately controlled by deposition temperature. • Increasing sp2 clusters size significantly reduced the initial ICR of a-C films. • XRR analysis revealed the decrease in film compactness with temperature increment. • Loose structure deteriorated the corrosion resistance of a-C in simulated PEMFC environment. Highlights Silicon carbide (SiC)/shape‐memory polyurethane (SMPU) soft robots possess programmable shapes and dual‐drive capabilities based on electrical and thermal methods. Enhancing the thermal conductivity (TC) of these composite materials effectively enhances the driving performance of the soft robots. In this study, we tune the interfacial thickness between SiC particles and the SMPU polymer matrix to regulate the TC of the composites. The optimized composite exhibits a 244% increase in the in‐plane TC and 153% increase in the out‐of‐plane TC. Furthermore, optimization significantly enhances the speed and efficiency of the soft robots. This study reveals that interfacial thickness is a key factor in regulating interfacial heat transfer, potentially introducing a new approach for reducing interfacial thermal resistance in composite materials. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of interfacial heat‐ transfer mechanisms and establishes a new theoretical framework for designing and fabricating advanced composite materials for soft robots. Interfacial heat‐ transfer mechanism was revealed. Interfacial thickness primarily controls interfacial heat transfer. The in‐plane and out‐of‐plane thermal conductivities of prepared composites were enhanced by 244% and 153%, respectively, by modifying the interfacial thickness. [Display omitted] This paper develops a new measurement method to answer the question: How does one measure the interfacial tension of adsorbed droplets? This measurement is based on the placement of a bubble at a water|organic interface. To prove the concept, a bubble was formed by pipetting gas below the water|1,2-dichloroethane interface. Our values agree well with previous reports. We then extended the measurement modality to a more difficult system: quantifying interfacial tension of 1,2-dichloroethane droplets adsorbed onto conductors. Carbon dioxide was generated in the aqueous phase from the electro-oxidation of oxalate. Given carbon dioxide's solubility in 1,2-dichloroethane, it partitions, a bubble nucleates, and the bubble can be seen by microscopy when driving the simultaneous oxidation of tris(bipyridine)ruthenium (II), a molecule that will interact with CO 2 .−. and provide light through electrochemiluminescence. We can quantify the interfacial tension of adsorbed droplets, a measurement very difficult performed with more usual techniques, by tracking the growth of the bubble and quantifying the bubble size at the time the bubble breaks through the aqueous|1,2-dichloroethane interface. We found that the interfacial tension of nanoliter 1,2-dichloroethane droplets adsorbed to an electrified interface in water, which was previously immeasurable with current techniques, was one order of magnitude less than the bulk system. Radiation detectors play an indispensable role in medical diagnostics, industrial non‐destructive inspection and national security. Recently, halide perovskites are considered as the new generation of radiation active materials due to excellent optoelectronic properties such as adjustable bandgap, high absorption coefficient, high carrier mobility and low cost. The radiation detectors based on perovskite show high sensitivity and low detection limit, contributing to excellent spatial resolution for imaging. However, the commercialization of perovskite radiation detectors for high quality imaging still faces many challenges, including ion migration in perovskite, fermi level pinning and electrochemical reaction at the interface of perovskite/electrode, and difficulties of integration with readout circuit. All the issues hinder the further improvement of device performance. This review summarizes the material forms and the optimized growth methods of perovskite for radiation imaging detectors. Further, this work focuses on challenges and improvements of the interface between perovskites and electrodes. Meanwhile, this work outlines the technical routes used to realize array detectors for radiation imaging. Soft actuators have great potential applications in sophisticated movement and sensitive devices due to their flexible nature, good interaction, and precise control. However, existing carbon‐based optical actuators are limited in their response under visible light irradiation. The limited visible light absorbance of the carbon nanostructure brought the metallic nanoparticle into the soft actuators that can absorb visible light. This study introduces a new type of plasmonic photothermal‐bimorph actuator, using graphene oxide (GO), reduced graphene oxide (rGO), and silver nanorods (Ag NRs) to overcome the limitations of traditional optical actuators. The bimorph film is actuated by visible and near‐infrared light stimuli with various power densities showing reversible deformation behavior. The actuator shows significant bending associated with a ≈50° change in bending angle under visible light irradiation with a response time of ≈5 ± 1 sec. Furthermore, a smart photo‐controlled non‐contact switch is fabricated based on photo‐thermal conversion properties, demonstrating perfect integration of plasmonic bimorph actuators. The density functional theory based molecular dynamics calculations provide an additional understanding of the bending of actuators under external stimulus. Using illustrative demonstrations of actuators, these results hint at a method for generating multipurpose visible light‐based soft robots, supporting a new approach to developing an optical locking system. The reliable connection between ceramics and metals achieved through brazing is a crucial method to promote their application. In this study, the FeCoCrNi high entropy alloys was adopted as the filler to connect SiC and Mo through vacuum brazing. The microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of the SiC/FeCoCrNi/Mo brazed joint at different brazing temperature and holding time were systematically investigated. With the increase of the brazing temperature or the extension of the holding time, the reaction layer gradually thickened with the increasing precipitation of the soft FCC phase. Notably, the FCC solid solution phase with good plastic deformation ability and the brittle Cr 0.46 Mo 0.4 Si 0.14 phase have good interface bonding (lattice mismatch degree ∼ 3.12 %). The dispersive and staggered distribution of FCC phase and Cr 0.46 Mo 0.4 Si 0.14 phase can effectively alleviate the joint stress and hinder crack propagation. Heterogeneous metallic structures constitute a novel class of materials with excellent mechanical properties. However, the existing process for obtaining heterostructures from a single material does not meet large-scale industrial requirements. In this study, a pure copper heterostructured laminate (HSL) composed of a surface elongated-grain layer and a central equiaxed-grain layer was fabricated by rolling bonding and annealing. To study the effect of the interface on the mechanical properties of gradient-structured materials, both laminate metal composite (LMC) and non-composite laminate (NCL) were fabricated by cold-rolling pretreatment of the center layer (60% reduction) and cold-rolling bonding of the whole blank (67% reduction). Then, the HSL was obtained by controlling the post-annealing regimes, the microstructure of each layer was optimized, and a larger degree of microstructural heterogeneities, such as grain size, misorientation angle, and grain orientation, was obtained, which resulted in obvious mechanical differences. Tensile tests of the HSL, surface layer, center layer, and NCL specimens revealed that the HSL annealed at 300 °C for 1 h had a significantly higher strength than the center layer and a higher elongation than the surface layer. The HSL had a tensile strength and elongation at fracture of 278.08 MPa and 46.2%, respectively, indicating a good balance of strength and plasticity. The improved properties were primarily attributed to the strengthening or strain hardening due to the inhomogeneous deformation of the heterogeneous layers in the laminate and the mutual constraint acquired by the distinct layers with strong mechanical differences. The HSL had an interfacial bonding strength of 178.5 MPa, which played a vital role in the coordinated deformation of the heterogeneous layers. This study proposes an HSL design method that effectively simplifies the process of obtaining heterostructures in homogeneous materials by controlling the cumulative deformation of the surface and center layers. Electrochemical and biological analyzes were carried out on iron-wood composite archaeological objects from the "KASBA-OUDAYA" site in Morocco in 10 % PEG-200 solutions. Electrochemical measurements of steel combined with wood were made possible thanks to a proposed steel-wood configuration, with characterization of the surfaces after natural aging tests focused on the steel-wood interface by scanning electron microscope. The Mohr and Nephelometric method allow the determination of chloride and sulfate ions. While the biological study is ensured by isolation and enumeration of strains. The results revealed that the presence of wood in the PEG-200 solution decreased the pH of the solution and accelerated corrosion of steel. Purpose: This study explores the diversity and compatibility of leadership in a local context. It aims to understand the interface between traditional and democratic leadership in local governance. Design/methodology/approach: Following a qualitative approach, the researchers collected data through unstructured interviews and utilised thematic analysis for data interpretation. Findings: The study demonstrated that the emergence of democratic local leadership has not supplanted traditional leaders but rather gained legitimacy and effectiveness by collaborating with them. This study illustrated how traditional and modern democratic leadership can coexist and effectively manage community affairs. Practical implications: The study emphasises the potential for traditional leaders to take part in local governance activities, offering a practical tool to improve the effectiveness of local governance. Its findings also underscore the need for collaborative governance to deal with local issues. The design of multifunctional materials for energy storage and conversion systems is vital in addressing present global energy issues. In this work, we have prepared a highly active and economical hybrid material comprising ZnO and Nb2O5, integrated with g-C3N4 (Nb@ZGCN) through the simple chemical method followed by calcination process. The resultant Nb@ZGCN electrode delivered a specific capacitance of 122.3 F g−1 at a current density of 1 A g−1 and maintained 71% of its initial value at a current density of 4 A g−1 in a 6 M KOH electrolyte. This hybrid electrode exhibited superb cyclic stability of 105% even after 2000 cycles at 4 A g−1 with an increased coulomb efficiency than the first cycle which is close to 100%. Additionally, the prepared hybrid material was further applied for electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), delivering a small overpotential of 252.1 mV to achieve a current rate of 10 mA cm− 2 along with long-term durability in a 1 M KOH medium. The synergistic interaction between the ZnO, Nb2O5 and graphitic carbon nitride in the hybrid structure leads to abundant electroactive sites that remarkably improve the supercapacitive and HER activities. Pinning phenomena for long linear polymers have been studied for a long time. In 2009 Caravenna and Pétrélis (Electron J Probab 14(70):2038–2067, 2009) investigated the effect of a periodic and repulsive multi-interface medium on a (1 + 1) -directed polymer model, when the distance between consecutive interfaces scales with the length of the polymer and with a constant temperature. In this paper, we extend that model and consider weak repulsion, by letting both the temperature and the distance between interfaces scale with the length of the polymer. We obtain a full diagram for this model, showing the behaviour of the polymer depending on the scaling exponents associated to the repulsion and the spacing parameters. When the repulsion is not too weak compared to the interface spacing, we obtain different regimes that extend those obtained by Caravenna and Pétrélis, and either finitely or infinitely many interfaces are visited. When the two exponents match we obtain a diffusive regime with a non-trivial and temperature-dependent diffusion constant. A prototype model for a Fluid–Structure interaction is considered. We aim to stabilize [enhance stability of] the model by having access only to a portion of the state. Toward this goal we shall construct a compensator-based Luenberger design, with the following two goals: (1) reconstruct the original system asymptotically by tracking partial information about the full state, (2) stabilize the original unstable system by feeding an admissible control based on a system which is obtained from the compensator. The ultimate result is boundary control/stabilization of partially observed and originally unstable fluid–structure interaction with restricted information on the current state and without any knowledge of the initial condition. In everyday life, people often stand up and sit down. Unlike young, able-bodied individuals, older adults and those with disabilities usually stand up or sit down slowly, often pausing during the transition. It is crucial to design interfaces that accommodate these movements. Additionally, in public settings, protecting personal information is essential. Addressing these considerations, this paper presents a distance-based representation scheme for the motions of standing up and sitting down. This proposed scheme identifies both standing and sitting positions, as well as the transition process between these two states. Our scheme is based solely on the variations in distance between a sensor and the surfaces of the human body during these movements. Specifically, the proposed solution relies on distance as input, allowing for the use of a proximity sensor without the need for cameras or additional wearable sensor attachments. A single microcontroller is adequate for this purpose. Our contribution highlights that using a proximity sensor broadens the applicability of the approach while ensuring that personal information remains secure. Additionally, the scheme alleviates users' mental burden, particularly regarding privacy concerns. Extensive experiments were performed on 58 subjects, including 19 people over the age of 70, to verify the effectiveness of the proposed solution, and the results are described in detail. The interface is the weakest region of the coal-backfilling composite structure (CBCS) for underground mines, the sawtooth angles of which is one of the most critical concerns to be accounted. However, limited studies have focused on the deformation and failure behaviours of CBCS with different interface sawtooth angles under double shearing. To investigate the effect of interface sawtooth angles on the damage characteristics of CBCS under double shearing, CBCS with different interface sawtooth angles (i.e., 0°, 15°, 30°, 45°, 60°) were prepared and double shearing tests were carried out in the present research. Macroscopic failure characteristics (i.e., failure mode, failure process, and shear strength) of the CBCS were experimentally investigated via the digital image correlation (DIC), acoustic emission (AE), and 3D scanner system, whereas microscopic feature of which, including the contact force–microcrack evolution, and displacement vector of CBCS were numerical simulated by the discrete element modelling (DEM) method. The results showed that the failure modes of the CBCS can be classified into three types (e.g., climbing failure, cutting failure, and sliding failure). Among them, the climbing failure was only occurred when the loads on the sawtooth surfaces exceeded its shear strength, while the cutting failure occurred if the load on the sawtooth end of the coal element or backfilling element exceeded its shear strength. The sliding failure occurred, because the load applied to the interface exceeded the shear strength of the specimen interface. Moreover, the peak shear stress, the degree of strain concentration, and the extent of the strain concentration zone of the CBCS increased with the enlarged sawtooth angle. The research outcomes will contribute to obtain an in-depth understanding about the mechanical response of the coal-backfill composites under double shear loading. This paper outlines a conceptual framework for enacting relational pedagogy. Commencing with a description of a relational ontology that can work to provide the foundation for engaged and participatory enactments of teaching and learning, the paper moves to consider the dynamics that support inclusive modes of education and the dimensions of relational pedagogical encounters. In particular, the pedagogical encounter is examined with a view to illuminating how the ontological and epistemological dynamics and dimensions of relational pedagogy open opportunities for inclusive and participatory modes of teaching and learning. In addition, the practical implications of pedagogical informality are considered, including the in-the-moment immediacy inherent to the relational encounter and concomitant enactments of the pedagogical exchange. In doing so, we argue for a relational pedagogy that widens the possibility for meaningful engagement with young people through pedagogical enactments that build upon the inter-relationality of teachers and students. CFRP/Ti6Al4V stacks are widely employed in aerospace, automotive and marine applications owing to their superior properties. However, machining these stacked structures pose challenges due to the intrinsic difference in the mechanical properties of CFRP and Ti6Al4V. Such difference can induce distinct failure mechanisms and chip formation processes compared to those observed in individual materials. This paper presents an explicit finite element (FE) modeling to predict the cutting forces and analyze the induced damage during the orthogonal cutting process. The proposed FE model is validated using available experimental data for separate CFRP and Ti6Al4V conditions before being applied to simulate the cutting behavior of CFRP/Ti6Al4V stacks. The effects of fiber angles, cutting sequences and cutting parameters on the cutting performance and damage mechanism of CFRP/Ti6Al4V stacks are investigated in detail. Diamond‐like carbon (DLC) is an amorphous material widely used in industrial applications due to its chemical, mechanical, and tribological properties and, also, for decorative purposes. However, its low adhesion to ferrous alloys reduces its effectiveness in certain applications, necessitating the use of adhesion interlayers to reduce stresses at the interfaces and enhance the density of strong bonds. In this context, the factors that promote good adhesion in this system and specify the parameters must be understood in detail. Thus, the present study aims to assess the influence of the base pressure on the deposition of an amorphous silicon carbide adhesion interlayer between DLC coating and a ferrous alloy substrate. Microstructural, physicochemical, morphological, and mechanotribological analyses were conducted to understand the adhesion behavior in terms of structural and chemical aspects. In addition to the influence of the interlayer thickness, the elemental Si/C ratios and the relative oxygen content have an impact on the maximum load supported by the coatings, as well as the different delamination mechanisms generated in adhesion tests. In order to investigate how to achieve volume plastic flow and what kind of deformation mechanism in the Vickers indentation of a magnesium oxide single crystal, the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images were recorded. Significant crystal plane deviation was observed in the contact area between the sample and the indenter, while there was almost no deviation in other plastic zones. It was found that the deflecting lattice interface was realized by dislocation accumulation, and incoherent in the interface is coordinated by mismatch and multi-atom layer stacking. Some narrow holes in which both ends connected to boundaries were observed, and formation of the narrow holes is due to fracture and then re-bonding under high stress. There exists an amorphous trend in the area next to the indenter, which is generated by high stress extrusion. Tin-based perovskite has been considered as one of the most potential candidates for lead-based perovskite. The solution proceed method was widely utilized in fabricating tin perovskite solar cells. So far, all fabrication processes for tin perovskite solar cells involved toxic organic solvents, which is contrary to the development of environmentally friendly perovskite solar cells. In this study, we report for the first time, by using a mixed green solvent N-diethyl formamide and green 1,3-dimethyl-3,4,5,6-Tetrahydro-2 (1H)-pyrimidinone as precursor solvent, and a green solvent dibutyl ether as antisolvent, a high-quality FA0.75MA0.25SnI3 film was achieved. The optical band gap of the prepared perovskite layer was 1.36 eV, which was close to the ideal band gap. The green-solution-proceed perovskite films showed reduced defect density. As a consequence, the champion green-solution-proceed photovoltaic device achieved a power conversion efficiency of 4.4%. Moreover, it still maintains 80% of the initial efficiency after 600 h of storage in a nitrogen atmosphere. A composite of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and hollow glass beads (HGB) with two different HGB sizes was prepared and investigated rheologically. When the HGB content reaches approximately 30 wt%, the PET/HGB composite changes from a Newtonian fluid to a pseudoplastic one within the measured frequency range. If the HGB content is below the critical value, the viscosity of the composite may be lower than that of the neat PET melt. This is because scrolling or sliding of the HGB in the PET melt increases the apparent shear rate and reduces the torque measured by the rheometer rotor. Meanwhile, the size of the HGB affects the viscosity of the composite. The 40 μm HGB has a more pronounced effect, resulting in higher viscosity than 50 μm HGB. Furthermore, the composite containing 40 μm HGB has a lower density than the one containing 50 μm HGB. This is because the 40 μm HGB has a lower breaking rate and higher volume fraction compared to the 50 μm HGB at the same mass fraction. The peak relaxation time of the PET/HGB composite increases with the HGB content, and higher temperatures correspond to shorter relaxation times. DSC analysis showed that the addition of HGB filler decreased the melting temperature and increased the crystallization temperature of the PET material. Since the PET/HGB composite has a longer relaxation time than pure PET, the corresponding aggregates made of PET chains and HGBs are expected to have larger characteristic sizes compared to PET and HGB. These sizes can be determined approximately using a grid drawing method. The coupling agent CS‐101 enhances the bonding between PET and HGB. This is evidenced by comparing the viscosity curves of the composite with and without the coupling agent. Developing biodegradable material alternatives is crucial to address the fossil-based plastic pollution in marine ecosystems. Natural biodegradable polymers like cellulose exhibit potential plastic alternatives. However, their susceptibility to water and moisture poses challenges when blending with hydrophobic polymers. Thus, chemical modification is often required to enhance cellulose dispersion in hydrophobic polymer matrices, which may hinder its inherent biodegradability. In this study, the aquatic biodegradation and degradation mechanisms of lignocellulose-polyester composite films under aerobic conditions were for the first time explored in simulated freshwater and real seawater environments. The composite films were produced by blending cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs) with polycaprolactone (PCL), a hydrophobic polyester, using lignin nanoparticles (LNPs) as an interfacial compatibilizer. The structural and morphological changes of the composite films were studied using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Despite the use of LNPs (poorly degradable in aquatic conditions) and the composite films' hydrophobicity, the presence of up to 25 wt% PCL and 5wt% LNPs did not prevent the composites from achieving > 85% biodegradation within 42 days, in both fresh water and seawater conditions. The incorporation of CNFs increased the water uptake capability of PCL which helped to increase the films' porosity, in turn enhancing the film degradation process. This study confirmed that hydrophobizing nanocellulose with biodegradable polyesters and LNPs can preserve the nanocellulose's inherent coveted biodegradability. In the quest to improve overall semiconductor system performance as scaling down continues, reducing resistance in interconnects and bonding interfaces has become a critical focus. This study explores the use of graphene, a highly conductive 2D material, as an interfacial layer between metal and dielectric layers to enhance adhesion and stability while reducing contact resistance. Graphene's excellent adhesion properties make it a promising candidate for improving bonding strength at metal–dielectric interfaces. We investigated the following two approaches: direct growth of graphene via chemical vapor deposition and the transfer of pre-grown graphene onto the metal surface. The contact resistance characteristics of both methods were analyzed, with results indicating that graphene effectively enhances the bonding interface while significantly lowering contact resistance. These findings suggest that incorporating graphene as an interfacial material could lead to improved performance in advanced semiconductor devices, particularly in applications like hybrid bonding and interconnect technology. All‐solid‐state batteries (ASSBs), configured with solid electrolytes, have received considerable attention as a future energy solution across diverse sectors of modern society. Unlike conventional liquid electrolytes in particular, sulfide solid electrolytes have various advantages, such as high ionic conductivity (>10−3 S cm−1), good ductile properties, and thermal stability. Despite these advantages, the practical application of sulfide solid electrolytes in ASSBs is still limited due to their interfacial instability with commercial cathode materials. Unfortunately, the spontaneous formation of a space charge layer (SCL) at the interface between the cathode material and the solid electrolyte leads to heightened interfacial resistance, obstructing Li+ transport. To address this issue, proper interfacial engineering is still required to facilitate smooth Li+ migration across the interfaces. In this respect, various functional materials have been under exploration as buffer layers, which are intended to suppress the formation of the SCL at these interfaces. Herein, focus is given on the critical significance of these buffer layers between cathode materials and sulfide solid electrolytes in the development of ASSBs. Considering the present limitations, future research directions for next‐generation ASSBs are discussed. Layered materials play a crucial role in numerous essential structures, including adhesive connections, composite laminates, and various electronic components. This work focuses on proposing a novel framework of algorithms to improve the adaptability of element-free Galerkin method for modeling fracture in bimaterials exposed to thermoelastic loads. A bimaterial fracture problem is modeled as a combination of both weak and strong discontinuities — strong discontinuity owing to the presence of crack and weak discontinuity due to inherent material discontinuities. Initially, three distinct methods, comprising domain partitioning, lagrange multiplier, and jump function have been employed for interface crack modeling and error norm is used as an indicator to select the optimum one. Second, a novel interface enrichment algorithm has been introduced to effectively model the interface with limited computational costs with higher accuracy. Owing to the applicability of bimaterials in numerous applications under a combination of thermal/mechanical loads, the proposed formulation has been utilized for modeling and simulating a diverse bimaterial thermoelastic fracture problems using the proposed framework. The mixed mode (complex) stress intensity factors (SIFs) are numerically examined using modified domain form of interaction integral. A good agreement of results with available results from literature extends the computational prowess of the proposed framework in modeling a variety of thermoelastic bimaterial problems accurately and swiftly as compared to conventional EFGM. Highlights: A new strategy for elaborate regulation of microstructure was successfully introduced by the ice template‑assisted 3D printing and chemical vapor deposition strategy, including graphene nanoplate/silicon carbide nanowires hierarchical porous structure and graphene nanoplate/boron nitride composite heterogeneous interface. The composite exhibits excellent electromagnetic wave absorption performance with an RLmin of -37.8 dB and an EABmax of 9.2 GHz (from 8.8 to 18.0 GHz) at 2.5 mm. With vigorous developments in nanotechnology, the elaborate regulation of microstructure shows attractive potential in the design of electromagnetic wave absorbers. Herein, a hierarchical porous structure and composite heterogeneous interface are constructed successfully to optimize the electromagnetic loss capacity. The macro–micro-synergistic graphene aerogel formed by the ice template‑assisted 3D printing strategy is cut by silicon carbide nanowires (SiCnws) grown in situ, while boron nitride (BN) interfacial structure is introduced on graphene nanoplates. The unique composite structure forces multiple scattering of incident EMWs, ensuring the combined effects of interfacial polarization, conduction networks, and magnetic-dielectric synergy. Therefore, the as-prepared composites present a minimum reflection loss value of − 37.8 dB and a wide effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 9.2 GHz (from 8.8 to 18.0 GHz) at 2.5 mm. Due to the seamless interfaces between solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) and electrode materials, SPEs‐based all‐solid‐state sodium‐ion batteries (ASSSIBs) are considered promising energy storage systems. However, the sluggish Na+ transport and uncontrollable Na dendrite propagation still hinder the practical application of SPEs‐based ASSSIBs. Herein, Ca‐doped CeO2 (Ca−CeO2) nanotube framework is synthesized and integrated with poly (ethylene oxide) methyl ether acrylate‐perfluoropolyether copolymer (PEOA‐PFPE), resulting in multifunctional solid nanocomposite electrolytes (namely SNEs, i.e., PEOA‐PFPE/Ca−CeO2). Our investigations demonstrate that the fluorous effect incurred by the fluorine‐containing PEOA‐PFPE and the oxygen vacancy effect induced by the Ca−CeO2 framework could synergistically promote the dissociation of sodium salt, ultimately enhancing the Na+ mobility in SNEs. Besides, the resultant SNEs construct rapid Na+ transport channels and homogenize the Na deposition in SNEs/Na interface, which effectively prevents the Na dendrite growth. Furthermore, the assembled carbon‐coated sodium vanadium phosphate (NVP@C)||PEOA‐PFPE/Ca−CeO2||Na coin cell delivers impressive rate capability of 97.9 mAh g−1 at 2 C and outstanding cycling stability with capacity retention of 84.3 % after 300 cycles at 1 C. This work illustrates that constructing multifunctional SNEs via incorporating functional inorganic frameworks into fluorine‐containing SPEs could be a promising strategy for the commercialization of robust and high‐performance ASSSIBs. Lithium cobalt oxide (LiCoO2) is considered an indispensable cathode material in the realm of consumer electronic batteries due to its high volumetric energy density. However, at a charging cut‐off voltage as high as 4.6 V, significant interfacial side reactions between LiCoO2 and the electrolyte occur, which adversely impact the battery's cycle performance. The surface‐related issues of LiCoO2 at high charge voltages not only constrain its utilization in conventional lithium‐ion batteries with liquid electrolytes but also limit its application in solid‐state batteries. Although traditional coating methods using inert inorganic compounds can partially alleviate this issue, their point‐like coatings fail to completely prevent the surface of LiCoO2 from direct contact with the electrolyte. The exploration of novel surface protection strategies for LiCoO2 remains imperative to address the associated challenges. Herein, introducing a sulfone‐based polymer electrolyte interface is proposed on the surface of LiCoO2 using methyl vinyl sulfone (MVS) through in situ polymerization. Remarkably, LiCoO2 with sulfone‐based polymer electrolyte interface exhibits a capacity retention rate of 83% after 500 cycles when employing a carbonate electrolyte without additives at a charge cut‐off voltage of 4.6 V. Furthermore, the LiCoO2 and polymer electrolyte interface exhibits exceptional cycle stability when paired with polyether solid electrolytes that do not possess high voltage tolerance. Moreover, the incorporation of a polymer electrolyte interface not only enhances the cycle stability of LiCoO2 but also improves its thermal stability. The mutual influence of interface processes during simultaneous contact of zirconia ceramic plate with adhesion-active Cu–Ga–Ti melt (on one side of the plate) and inert to oxides liquid copper (on other side of the plate) was studied. Wetting of ceramic with metal melts was studied by sessile drop method, the structure of the interfaces was determined using SEM. Due to the dissolution of ceramic oxygen in Cu–Ga–Ti, non-stoichiometric zirconia (ZrO2-x) is formed, then ‘surplus’ zirconium from the ZrO2-x structure dissolves in the copper melt, the stoichiometry of zirconia is restored and an additional amount of oxygen dissolves in the Cu–Ga–Ti melt. It leads to a decrease in the adhesion of Cu–Ga–Ti to ceramics, while improving the wetting of ZrO2 ceramics with copper. The ZrO2–Cu–Ga–Ti interface contains copper–titanium–oxygen intermetallides with zirconia inclusions, which does not provide adhesion of metals with solid oxides. If the contact of Cu–Ga–Ti with ZrO2 is formed before contact with liquid copper, then the interface layer contains oxidized titanium, which promotes adhesion of metal to ceramic. CsPbIBr2, with its suitable bandgap, shows great potential as the top cell in tandem solar cells. Nonetheless, its further development is hindered by a high defect density, severe carrier recombination, and poor stability. In this study, CsPbI1.5Br1.5 quantum dots were utilized as an additive in the ethyl acetate anti-solvent, while a layer of CsPbBr3 QDs was introduced between the ETL and the CsPbIBr2 light-harvester film. The combined effect of these two QDs enhanced the nucleation, crystallization, and growth of CsPbIBr2 perovskite, yielding high-quality films characterized by an enlarged crystal size, reduced grain boundaries, and smooth surfaces. And a wider absorption range and better energy band alignment were achieved owing to the nano-size effect of QDs. These improvements led to a decreased defect density and the suppression of non-radiative recombination. Additionally, the presence of long-chain organic molecules in the QD solution promoted the formation of a hydrophobic surface, significantly enhancing the long-term stability of CsPbIBr2 PSCs. Consequently, the devices achieved a PCE of 9.20% and maintained an initial efficiency of 85% after 60 days of storage in air. All‐solid‐state lithium batteries (ASSLBs) can overcome many problems in cathode and lithium anode, and it is a very promising safe secondary battery. However, unstable interface problems between electrolyte and electrode and within the electrolyte still restrict its commercial development. Herein, the interface problems are first revealed in ASSLBs and highlight the need to deeply explore the intrinsic failure mechanisms to solve these problems. Subsequently, the three failure mechanisms of ASSLBs: chemical, electrical, and electrochemical failure are broken down, and focus on the impact of the space charge layer problem on the cathode‐electrolyte interface. The effect of the anode physical contact problem on the anode‐electrolyte interface is discussed. Then, recent advances in ASSLBs, cathode and anode interface optimization strategies, and their corresponding electrochemical properties are discussed. Finally, the interface challenges faced by ASSLBs and feasible interface modification strategies are summarized, which provide references for subsequent studies and insights into the design of interface structures for the new generation of high‐performance ASSLBs. In this work, we study the interface obtained by depositing a monolayer of a Blatter radical derivative on polycrystalline cobalt. By examining the occupied and unoccupied states at the interface, using soft X‐ray techniques, combined with electronic structure calculations, we could simultaneously determine the electronic structure of both the molecular and ferromagnetic sides of the interface, thus obtaining a full understanding of the interfacial magnetic properties. We found that the molecule is strongly hybridized with the surface. Changes in the core level spectra reflect the modification of the molecule and the cobalt electronic structures inducing a decrease in the magnetic moment of the cobalt atoms bonded to the molecules which, in turn, lose their radical character. Previous studies have primarily focused on promoting the (002) crystal plane of electrodeposited zinc (Zn) to grow thin Zn plates parallel to the electrode surface and thus achieving the dendrite‐suppressed Zn anodes. In contrast, this work adopts a novel approach. In situ construct a tin (Sn) modification layer on Zn foil. Through in‐depth cross‐sectional morphological analyses, the as‐designed Sn interface is observed to induce (101)‐preferred electrodeposition of Zn, leading to well‐ordered alignment of Zn thin plates “standing‐up” against the electrode surface at a universal angle of 65°. Such crystallographic characteristic consequently guarantees a flat and compact morphology of the electrochemically deposited Zn layer, thus suppressing the notorious problems of dendritic Zn growth and hydrogen generation. Consequently, the dendrite‐free Sn–Zn anode exhibits long‐term cycling stability of 4000 h at 1 mA cm−2 and 0.5 mAh cm−2, a significant improvement in comparison to the 50 h stability observed for unmodified Zn anode. Optical emissions from two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides greatly differ from sample to sample due to their interactions with different substrates with variations in parameters such as the dielectric constant, absorption coefficient, growth conditions, strain, and defects. Often, the mechanisms of environmentally sensitive optical emission in 2D materials are lacking, and it is essential to perform the measurements on the same sample with different substrate backgrounds, which is a challenge. In this work, we explore photoluminescence engineering by comparing the optical properties of WS2 on SiO2, TiOx, and Pt by selectively creating different environments locally on the same sample. The PL-confocal map with good spatial resolution reveals that the emission of WS2 on TiOx and Pt is suppressed by charge transfer at the interface. While moving from WS2 on Pt toward WS2 on the TiOx region, a 3-fold enhancement in PL emission has been observed in agreement with a 20% increase in the trion-to-exciton ratio and calculated carrier densities. Further, the transient absorption spectroscopy shows faster exciton recombination in WS2/Pt (∼5.7 ps) and WS2/TiOx (∼7.2 ps) than WS2/SiO2 (∼48.5 ps), confirming the charge transfer in varied optical emission of the WS2 monolayer. Our method paves the way for using charge transfer and controlled carrier injection to design nanoantennas, optoelectronic devices, and quantum optical cavities in 2D materials. Lithium‐sulfur batteries (LiSBs) with high energy density still face challenges on sluggish conversion kinetics, severe shuttle effects of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs), and low blocking feature of ordinary separators to LiPSs. To tackle these, a novel double‐layer strategy to functionalize separators is proposed, which consists of Co with atomically dispersed CoN4 decorated on Ketjen black (Co/CoN4@KB) layer and an ultrathin 2D Ti3C2Tx MXene layer. The theoretical calculations and experimental results jointly demonstrate metallic Co sites provide efficient adsorption and catalytic capability for long‐chain LiPSs, while CoN4 active sites facilitate the absorption of short‐chain LiPSs and promote the conversion to Li2S. The stacking MXene layer serves as a microscopic barrier to further physically block and chemically anchor the leaked LiPSs from the pores and gaps of the Co/CoN4@KB layer, thus preserving LiPSs within efficient anchoring‐conversion reaction interfaces to balance the accumulation of "dead S" and Li2S. Consequently, with an ultralight loading of Co/CoN4@KB‐MXene, the LiSBs exhibit amazing electrochemical performance even under high sulfur loading and lean electrolyte, and the outperforming performance for lithium‐selenium batteries (LiSeBs) can also be achieved. Maintaining eye contact is a fundamental aspect of non-verbal communication, yet current remote communication tools, such as video calls, struggle to replicate the natural eye contact experienced in face-to-face interactions. This study presents a cutting-edge vision-sharing system for android avatars that enables remote eye contact by synchronizing the eye movements of the operator and the avatar. Our innovative system features an eyeball integrated with a wide-angle lens camera, meticulously designed to mimic human eyes in both appearance and functionality. This technology is seamlessly integrated into android avatars, enabling operators to perceive the avatar's surroundings as if physically present. It provides a stable and immersive visual experience through a head-mounted display synchronized with the avatar's gaze direction. Through rigorous experimental evaluations, we demonstrated the system's ability to faithfully replicate the operator's perspective through the avatar, making eye contact more intuitive and effortless compared with conventional methods. Subjective assessments further validated the system's capacity to reduce operational workload and enhance user experience. Ultralow temperature crystals of the helium isotopes 3 He and 4 He are intriguing quantum systems. Deciphering the complex features of these unusual materials has been made possible in large part by Alexander Andreev's groundbreaking research. In 1978, Andreev and Alexander Parshin predicted the existence of melting/freezing waves at the surface of a solid 4 He crystal, which was subsequently promptly detected. Successively, for the fermionic 3 He superfluid/solid interface, even more intricate crystallization waves were anticipated, although they have not been observed experimentally so far. In this work, we provide preliminary results on 3 He crystals at the temperature T = 0.41 mK, supporting the existence of spin supercurrents in the melting/freezing waves on the crystal surface below the antiferromagnetic ordering temperature T N = 0.93 mK, as predicted by Andreev. The spin currents that accompany such a melting-freezing wave make it a unique object, in which the inertial mass is distinctly different from the gravitational mass. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
