- Abstract
A disorder of the circulatory system called hypertension can cause blood pressure to rise above normal. The level of awareness and understanding of hypertensive patients on their condition can improve treatment compliance and treatment outcomes, resulting in better blood pressure control. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of knowledge, adherence, and the relationship between medication adherence in hypertensive patients and the level of knowledge about hypertension. This study used a cross-sectional research design combined with quantitative research methods. The research site was Kalijaga Permai Health Center with research time February 2024. Population of hypertension patients undergoing treatment. The sample using purposive sampling method obtained 100 people. Data analysis contains Univariate and Bivariate analysis with chi-square test. Knowledge questionnaire using Hypertension Fact Quisionnare and compliance using Modified Morisky's Medication Adherence Scale-8. The results of the study of hypertensive patients with a low level of knowledge 36 respondents and 64 respondents with an average knowledgeable enough. The level of adherence to taking medication was non-compliant 49 respondents and compliant 51 respondents with an average of non-compliant compliance. The results of the chi square test obtained a p-value of 0.000 <0.05 with an r value of 0.428 which means that the level of knowledge about hypertension and compliance with taking medication in hypertensive patients shows a relationship with moderate strength. And the results of the test of the relationship between the characteristics of respondents with the level of knowledge and compliance with taking medication obtained p-value> 0.05, which means there is no significant relationship.
