Driven by technological progress and innovation awareness, many healthcare providers are striving to gain competitive advantages through service innovation. However, existing research has inconsistent conclusions regarding the relationship between service innovation and healthcare performance. Therefore, this study aims to provide a quantitative review of the service innovation-performance relationship based on findings reported in previous studies. Data from 23 peer-reviewed articles were collected and analysed. A meta-analysis approach was applied to explore this relationship and examine the moderating effects of the development level and provider type. The results confirm that technology innovation has a positive impact on healthcare performance and is influenced by both two moderators while process innovation is affected by development level only. The findings contribute to the literature on service innovation in the healthcare sector while providing insights for future research directions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
