- Abstract
The field trial with four winter wheat varieties was carried out at the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Economics in different regions of Latvia: at Stende Research Centre, Priekuli Research Centre and Latgale Agricultural Science Centre during the four growing seasons from 2018/2019 to 2021/2022. The aim of the research was to perform a comparison of demonstrated varieties in two types of growth technologies where the supply of nutrients and the complex of plant protection measures had been chosen for two production levels corresponding to the demonstration environment and the potential of the variety - 6 t ha-1 (R1) and 8 t ha-1 (R2) in an integrated cultivation system. Two new cultivars of winter wheat selected in Latvia ('Brencis', 'Talsis'), and two widely grown ('Skagen', 'Edvins') were compared. Meteorological conditions were different in all trial years and all cultivation places. Nitrogen fertilizer had a less effect on the grain yield with yield level R2. In both variants of cultivation technologies, the highest grain yield was obtained from the varieties ‘Skagen’ un ‘Brencis’, the highest volumetric weight from the variety 'Talsis', protein content, 1000 grain weight and amount of gluten from the variety 'Edvins'. The variety 'Brencis' in the three trial places had the highest amount of starch in dry matter. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
