In eastern Spain, Bonelli's eagle (Aquila fasciata) abundance has declined almost 50% in the last 25 years and, consequently, the species is listed as regionally endangered. Therefore, the aim of this study is to report the mortality causes of territorial breeding Bonelli's eagles, including the spatial and temporal patterns, and to assess the effects on population dynamics. From 2015–2023, we tracked 60 Bonelli's eagles via global positioning system‐global system for mobile communications (GPS‐GSM) telemetry; 33 of the eagles died (median survival time = 1,519 days). Survival did not differ in relation to sex, age at capture (subadult vs. adult birds), breeding site (coastland vs. inland territories), or transmitter's model. One‐year probability of survival (95% CI) was 0.716 (0.607–0.845); 2‐year survival was 0.640 (0.524–0.781); and 3‐year survival was 0.581 (0.464–0.729). Anthropogenic mortality (66.7% of cases) prevailed over natural (27.3%) and unknown causes (6.0%). Causes of mortality were intra‐ and interspecific predation (24.2% of cases), electrocution (18.2%), poisoning (15.1%), collision with power lines (9.1%), shooting (9.1%), drowning (9.1%), collision with other man‐made infrastructure (6.1%), and disease (3.0%). Deaths were most frequent during the early breeding season. Only 2 (6.1%) of 33 deaths recorded occurred within a protected area. Natural causes of mortality were more frequent away from the Mediterranean coast. In contrast, anthropogenic deaths were more frequent near the Mediterranean coast, where human population density is high. We estimated that probability of extirpation of the species in our study area is 17.8% in the next 50 years and 99.2% in 100 years. Nonetheless, a small reduction in adult mortality by ≥15% could prevent extirpation in the next 50 years. Therefore, actions to reduce adult mortality are urgently needed to preserve the Bonelli's eagle in eastern Spain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

EARTHQUAKES , *EMERGENCY management - Abstract
This contribution analyses the earthquakes that occurred in Ecuador between the devastating ones of 1698 and 1797. Thus, the cases of 1755, 1757, 1778, 1786, and 1787 are dealt with. Through the use of official documentation and printed sources, we attempt to understand the management of the disaster by the Bourbon authorities during the second half of the century, as well as the post-disaster dissemination in reports of events, the press, pastoral letters, sermons, historical-geographical dictionaries, and history books. Introduction: Between 2017 and 2022, it was carried out research on the management of cultural heritage organizations in the Colombian Caribbean. Caught our attention the quantity and quality of cultural organizations built in Valledupar, Colombia, in comparison to larger cities, and with greater economic resources. Objective: In this study we attempt to identify the economic support ecosystem in the cultural heritage organizations of the city of Valledupar (Cesar, Colombia) and, based on in-depth interviews, formulate postulates about the forces that have facilitated the development of a rich and complex cultural ecosystem, despite the scarcity of resources. Methodology: Social network analysis ARS was used, based on the methodology of Organizational life stories. Results: the relationship dynamics of seven cultural heritage organizations are shown. The network of support that organizations use to survive were represented, which allow them to improve management and strengthen their relationship systems for financing, learning and access to new services and resources. The SNA methodology allowed us to identify the greatest supports, the type of networks, and the development possibilities of the organizations analyzed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

POWER (Social sciences) , *MARINE resources conservation , *COMMUNITY foundations , *SEMI-structured interviews , *POINT processes - Abstract
Funding decisions influence where, how, and by whom conservation is pursued globally. In the context of growing calls for more participatory, Indigenous‐led, and socially just conservation, we undertook the first empirical investigation of how philanthropic foundations working in marine conservation globally engage communities in grant‐making decisions. We paid particular attention to whether and how community engagement practices reinforce or disrupt existing power dynamics. We conducted semistructured remote interviews with 46 individuals from 32 marine conservation foundations to identify how conservation foundations engage communities in setting their priorities and deciding which organizations and projects to fund. We found that community engagement in foundation decision‐making was limited in practice. Eleven of the 32 foundations reported some form of community engagement in funding decisions. Two of these foundations empowered communities to shape funding priorities and projects through strong forms of engagement. Many engagement practices were one way, one time, or indirect and confined to certain points in decision‐making processes. These weaker practices limited community input and reinforced unequal power relations, which may undermine the legitimacy, equity, and effectiveness of conservation efforts. We suggest that foundations aim for stronger forms of community engagement and reflect on how their grant‐making practices affect power relations between foundations and communities. OPEN source software , *BUSINESSPEOPLE , *ENTERPRISE resource planning , *SMALL business , *SMALL business management - Abstract
The use of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems has become an essential aspect for the efficient management of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), which have adopted ERP solutions based on open source software has been reduced, due to the lack of knowledge about this technology. The different paradigms that have emerged around the implementation of open source enterprise resource planning software have focused on the challenges and opportunities perceived by entrepreneurs in the region. The analysis carried out has shown that one of the main reasons why companies chose to train in this type of software was due to the economical and free costs and the possibility of customizing the platform according to their specific needs. Unlike proprietary solutions with paid licenses, open source software has offered greater flexibility and adaptability, allowing companies to adjust their operations more efficiently to constant changes in the business and technological environment. Having promoted initiatives that have promoted collaboration between the public and private sectors has facilitated a broader and more effective adoption of these rarely used cutting-edge technologies in the region. The socioeconomic diagnosis plays a fundamental role in the accounting and tax management of merchants affiliated with the Quevedo Chamber of Commerce. By carrying out a thorough analysis of the socioeconomic situation of merchants, the main strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats they face in their commercial activity can be identified. This diagnosis allows merchants to make informed and strategic decisions regarding the management of their finances, taxes and resources, which translates into greater efficiency and profitability in their businesses. Additionally, by knowing their socioeconomic situation, merchants can access training, financing and consulting programs that allow them to improve their business skills and adapt to a constantly changing economic environment. WATER management , *WATER supply , *INSTITUTIONAL repositories , *ACADEMIC dissertations , *STATE universities & colleges - Abstract
This study sought to understand and diagnose the management of water resources in the state of Amazonas. To achieve this objective, a strategic analysis was performed using two tools: SWOT and PESTEL. To build the SWOT and PESTEL tables, a search was carried out of dissertations posted in institutional repositories of the Amazonas State University and the Federal University of Amazonas. Non-participant observation was also performed at the meetings of the State Water Resources Council in order to gain a better understanding of management. The results achieved showed that the diagnosis is of a water resources management that is still in the initial phase, and which requires improvements in planning to achieve its goals. It was noted that the main bottleneck of management is the non-execution of the instruments of the state water resources policy, since they are the essential elements for it to function fully and strategically. In addition, political management has not prioritized water resources, which generates discontinuity of projects. Finally, it was noticed that the water resources management system has few people that are active in the cause, since little participation by the people who compose it was noted in the meetings of the State Water Resources Council. It is clear then that the system must be strengthened and restructured so that management can achieve its principles and objectives, in addition to seeking to train more people to do so. SOCIAL services , *INDUSTRIAL textiles , *SOCIAL change , *SMALL business management , *SOCIAL planning - Abstract
We are introducing an analysis of the micro and macroeconomic factors associated with the textile industrial decline in the canton of La Maná. Ecuador, unlike similar studies, based on the decline of important industries, we tried to explain the negative factors to execute the Development and Territorial Planning Plan, which aspired for the takeoff of an industry that barely reached 2% participation. We analyzed not considered factors in planning, according to the new data. In the internal component, we particularly observed a management system based on traditional paradigms that did not foster innovation. We concluded about the importance of incorporating into public planning social and cultural programs that promote entrepreneurship, flexibility and the management of social change. 50. Simulating the efficacy of wolf–dog hybridization management with individual‐based modeling.

- Abstract
Introgressive hybridization between wolves and dogs is a conservation concern due to its potentially deleterious long‐term evolutionary consequences. European legislation requires that wolf–dog hybridization be mitigated through effective management. We developed an individual‐based model (IBM) to simulate the life cycle of gray wolves that incorporates aspects of wolf sociality that affect hybridization rates (e.g., the dissolution of packs after the death of one/both breeders) with the goal of informing decision‐making on management of wolf–dog hybridization. We applied our model by projecting hybridization dynamics in a local wolf population under different mate choice and immigration scenarios and contrasted results of removal of admixed individuals with their sterilization and release. In several scenarios, lack of management led to complete admixture, whereas reactive management interventions effectively reduced admixture in wolf populations. Management effectiveness, however, strongly depended on mate choice and number and admixture level of individuals immigrating into the wolf population. The inclusion of anthropogenic mortality affecting parental and admixed individuals (e.g., poaching) increased the probability of pack dissolution and thus increased the probability of interbreeding with dogs or admixed individuals and boosted hybridization and introgression rates in all simulation scenarios. Recognizing the necessity of additional model refinements (appropriate parameterization, thorough sensitivity analyses, and robust model validation) to generate management recommendations applicable in real‐world scenarios, we maintain confidence in our model's potential as a valuable conservation tool that can be applied to diverse situations and species facing similar threats.
