Anthropic transformations, partly driven by human activity, have been causing disruptions in ecological patterns and processes within watersheds over the years, leading to landscape instability. Within this context, Hemeroby evaluates the intensity of alterations in landscape structure and function, classifying them based on their level of naturalness. Thus, the objective of this study is to analyze the landscape of the Turvo River Watershed in Barra do Turvo/SP according to Hemeroby levels. Vector files of vegetation cover and land uses from 1990, 2000, 2010, and 2020 were integrated using the ArcGIS Intersect tool with vector files of pedology, geology, geomorphology, relief amplitude, slope, climate, and erodibility. After combining the files, Hemeroby levels were classified to produce maps. The results of Hemeroby levels in the studied watershed ranged from Minimum (encompassing forest classes and water), with low technological and energy dependence for maintaining ecological functions, to Very High (covering the urban area of Barra do Turvo/SP), with high technological and energy dependence and low self-regulation capacity. The landscape of the investigated watershed exhibits a high level of human intervention due to agricultural practices, resulting in secondary vegetation and urban influence. Thus, the study of Hemeroby is important for evaluating negative impacts on the local ecosystem, thereby aiding in landscape planning and decision-making at municipal, state, and national levels.

CITIES & towns , *GOVERNMENT policy , *EMIGRATION & immigration , *MEDICAL care - Abstract
With the intention of understanding the dynamics of cross-border health related migration movements, we sought to investigate the health-related movements that involved Brazilian cities located inside the border strip and neighboring countries. Therefore, we used data from the REGIC (Região de Influência das Cidades - Cities's Area of Influence) research (2018), that described pairs of cities (one Brazilian and one international) in which there were healthrelated movements. The data was treated and organized with the help of geotechnologies (QGIS and Google Earth Pro) to create indicators and a summary map. We observed that the Southern region is the Brazilian region with the most international health-related migration connections (39), while the mid-western and northern regions had approximately half that amount (19 each). The neighboring countries that are most involved with this phenomenon are Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, which where the other three founding members of the MERCOSUL, as well as Bolivia. It was also found that the currently available public data on cross-border health-related movements do not allow for a detailed analysis of the cross-border movements for accessing health services, which impacts the making of more specific public policy and planning by the Brazilian Public Health System (SUS) for this theme. - Abstract
The traditions and customs of quilombola communities are fundamental for understanding the concept of human adaptability and landscape conservation. Thus, this study aims to investigate the landscape changes in the Turvo River Basin, in the municipality of Barra do Turvo/SP, investigating the forms and adaptation strategies created or adopted by the quilombola communities Cedro, Ribeirão Grande-Terra Seca and Pedra Preta-Paraíso in the period from 1990 to 2020, in order to generate information that will assist in the conservation of the natural components of the landscape, and in municipal environmental planning and management. For this, we used bibliographical research and life history in order to verify the quilombola trajectory and its relationship with the place of experience. Geotechnological tools were used to measure the Anthropogenic Transformation Index through vegetation cover and land uses. For the understanding of the society-nature duality, the study of the place and the quilombola way of life marked by the historical context of resistance and struggles for access to land and recognition are key points for diagnosis of the state in which the landscape is established. The state of the landscape of Little degraded, in the years analyzed implies the conservation measures developed by the quilombolas to maintain local diversity. Despite the oscillation of the index, without changing the state, it is necessary to develop mitigating measures with local society in order to conserve the landscape of the watershed, contributing to the maintenance of the biome in the Vale do Ribeira region. LAND use planning , *PUBLIC spaces , *BODIES of water , *WATER levels , *STATISTICS - Abstract
Extreme hydrometeorological events have gained increasing visibility on public agendas in recent decades, given the material damage they cause and the population groups that are affected, especially those who live in the proximity of bodies of water. The study of these events, as well as their spatial distribution, allows us to identify areas with different levels of environmental criticality. The objective of this work is to analyze the characteristics of water risk in the lower reaches of the Napostá Grande stream basin (Argentina). The methodology included the statistical analysis of climatic, topographic, biological, and edaphic data. The results obtained showed that the areas that presented a high level of water risk were located in the northeast, northwest, south, and southeast of the study area; in the category of medium water risk, a large area of urban space was observed while the areas that presented low levels were located mainly in the north and east sectors. This information is key for the design and preparation of planning and land use planning proposals aimed at reducing the potential damage caused by the occurrence of potentially dangerous events such as floods, flooding, and overflows. ENVIRONMENTAL protection , *LAND use planning , *LAND management , *LAND use , *AGRICULTURAL development , *GEOLOGICAL formations - Abstract
Studies focused on environmental characterization are essential for assisting in the planning of land use activities and management in watersheds. From this perspective, this study aims to characterize the physical-environmental elements of the landscape in the Turvo River Watershed in São Paulo, aiming to assist in the planning of land use activities and decision-making. Geotechnological tools were used for the creation of maps and tables of biophysical attributes, vegetation cover, and land use. In the watershed, the main economic activities are related to agriculture and livestock farming, which has been the most impactful category in Anthropogenic Uses over the years analyzed (1990-2020). The geological formations that predominated in the area were: Turvo-Cajati Formation (36.41%), Atubá Complex (28.20%), and the Unit of Banded Migmatitic Gneisses (13.38%). In geomorphological units, they were: Curitiba Plateau (56.30%) and the Ribeira Range (35.24%). In soil units, Cambisol (67.60%) with high erodibility and Neosol (26.96%) with very high erodibility. In terms of slope, the Undulating terrain accounted for 31.14%, and Strongly Undulating was 44.61%. In altimetry, the classes were 400-600 m (12.68%), 600-800 m (63.41%), and 800-1,000 m (10.94%). The environmental characteristics of the watershed indicate that land use restricts the use of agricultural machinery due to the mountainous formations in the area, as well as for conventional agricultural development. Therefore, it was concluded that there is a need for land use development planning to support municipal managers in decision-making. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Focusing on the approach of the municipal territory, many of the instruments pass on the environmental, economic and legal issues. Perhaps this is an exercise to achieve the goal of an instrument capable of promoting sustainable development at the municipal level. The objective was to identify the permeabilities between urban and environmental instruments in the municipal territory of Campo Grande, capital of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. The methodological development was carried out in four stages: bibliographic and documentary survey to survey the state of knowledge; characterization of zones and recommendations of use of the Ecological-Economic Zoning of Campo Grande (EEZ/CG); Environmental zoning analysis of the review of the Environmental Urban Development Master Plan (PDDUA) de Campo Grande e; Proposed insertion of EEZ/CG zones in the Master Plan. In view of the instruments that demand Environmental Zoning, present in the Master Plan, zoning and Ecological-Economic Zoning (EEZ), environmental aspect, applied in the municipal scale, this work aims to propose the integration of Environmental Zoning in environmental and urbanistic aspects. The need to municipalize the instruments of territorial management are beyond urban planning and the role of the EEZ/CG in the territorial planning, represents a path without return, and occupying the leading role for the institution of the municipal environment policy, to base the municipal system of conservation units and the management of water resources in the municipality. This essay demonstrates that the legal framework must be strengthened in the moment of positively subsidizing the manager with the purpose of justice and clarity, seeking to ensure the quality of life for all and to promote a healthy and balanced environment. WATER management , *NATURAL resources , *WATER supply , *SOIL management , *WATER quality , *WATERSHEDS - Abstract
The availability of quality water for various activities has been decreasing across the planet, as a result of human actions and degrading natural events. In this context, it appears that river basins are considered the most appropriate units for managing natural resources in the ecosystem, as they present different landscape characteristics that influence the selection of soil and water management practices. To this end, knowledge about the hydrological behavior of the Gavião River Basin was used using orbital data and geoprocessing techniques together with statistical analyzes with the aim of characterizing the environment and morphometric characteristics. Analysis of the data and results obtained for the Gavião River Watershed allowed us to conclude that the organization of the drainage network has an area of approximately 10,112 km² and a perimeter of 781 km. The slope in the range 3-8% corresponds to 29.61% of the basin area, considered moderately inclined. The Gavião River was approximately 340 km long. According to the results, it can be stated that the study area appears to be less susceptible to flooding under normal precipitation conditions, that is, excluding events of abnormal intensities, due to the fact that the compactness coefficient presents a value far from of the unit and, regarding its form factor, display a low value. Thus, there is an indication that the basin does not have a circular shape, and therefore has a tendency towards an elongated shape. The data showed approximately 188% of the study area is covered by forest formation, 56.53% occupied by savanna formation, and 36.49% with the use of pasture. The information obtained enables decision-making for the conservation and adequate management of water resources in the region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper makes a geomorphometric analysis of the high wathershed of Ribeirão Santa Marta (BHRSM), with the objective of evaluating the water behavior of this hydrographic unit, which is quoted as a future source of water supply for the city of Iporá (GO). The study was carried out using mathematical modeling, remote sensing products and geoprocessing techniques. The data used in the study were obtained from the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) of the Brazilian Geomorphometric Database (TOPODATA). Among the various geomorphometric indices described in the literature, those that best portray the infiltration and surface runoff of rainwater were selected. The organization of the data, the geoprocessing techniques and the elaboration of the cartographic products of the hydrographic basin were carried out using the Geographic Information System (GIS) QGIS. The results of the indices, analyzed together, indicated that the BHRSM is more favorable to surface runoff. This shows that the basin has a more active hydrological behavior, that is, the water flows more easily, being unfavorable for recharge and water storage. Thus, the data indicate that the BHRSM may have a compromised permanence flow to meet the public supply of Iporá (GO) in the future. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The need to increase forest enterprises' productivity has demanded higher levels of mechanization. The objective of this study was to evaluate the suitability of areas in Espírito Santo State to implement mechanized wood harvesting using a short log system. To prospect suitable areas for mechanization, an algebra map of Eucalyptus edaphoclimatic zoning, land use and occupation, slope, conservation units and their respective buffer zones was performed. Thus, suitability zones were defined based on edaphoclimatic conditions for evaluated species, with temperatures between 19 and 26°C, water deficit from 30 to 210 mm and annual average rainfall between 900 and 1800 mm defined as suitable. Land use and occupation were classified as fit, fit with type II limitation, fit with type III limitation and unfit. For slope classes, three categories were created: fit (0 - 27°), fit with limitation type I (27.1 - 35°) and unfit (> 35°). Results showed that the State has 39.45% of its entire area able to implement mechanized wood harvesting for Eucalyptus, while 47.91% of it is unfit. Based on the results, the authors concluded that the Northeast micro-region stood out with large, suitable areas for Eucalyptus harvest mechanization and that the employed methodology has potential for use and adaptation in other study areas around the world. The present research seeks to study environmental changes due to the advance of agribusiness on the territory of the Morro de São João Quilombola Community (CQMSJ), in the State of Tocantins, and its repercussions on surface temperatures. Large-scale commercial agriculture, in some cases, disregards in its practice the impacts it causes to traditional communities that live in the vicinity of large agricultural enterprises. The community realizes that it has experienced several environmental changes in its surroundings, due to the replacement of native vegetation by commercial crops, in the place that was previously part of its original territory. The methodological procedures were based on the use of geotechnologies for studies of themes related to the climate. For this, the terrestrial surface temperature (TST) was estimated over the territory that covers the CQMSJ in the dry winter season and in the rainy season in spring, through satellite images of the Landsat 7 and 8 series, in scenarios of observation of 1999/2000 and 2019/2020, referring to two moments: respectively, before and after the agricultural expansion in the study area. The results indicate that there was a surface temperature variation mainly associated with changes or alterations in land use and occupation. The increase in TST was more expressive in areas that are currently destined for agricultural production along the lines of agribusiness. The results point to probable consequences of intensive exploration of this traditional territory inserted in the Cerrado biome, especially regarding its microclimatic aspects, with possible implications for the life of a quilombola community. Toponymy is a discipline that studies the proper names of places. In Geography, toponyms are important because they provide information about a specific space. At present, georeferenced territorial information in digital format is of growing relevance. Therefore, the present work aims to apply geotechnologies to the treatment of toponyms at scale 1:25.000 for the sector of Ingeniero White, covered by the 3963-17-1 Bahía Blanca chart, prepared by the Instituto Geográfico Nacional (I.G.N.) (National Geographic Institute). For this purpose, a quali-quantitative methodological approach was applied, which included the gathering, selection and analysis of information, the creation of an alphanumeric database and the use of geotechnologies for the spatial treatment of toponyms and their information by means of a Geographic Information System (G.I.S.). The result was the creation of a dynamic consultation system through the use of pop-up windows that allow interaction with the geolocalized toponyms. It can be concluded that the creation of a database of toponyms and its visualization through a G.I.S. allows for the presentation of information and its consultation in a dynamic way to analyze information about changes in the names of places, in this case of Ingeniero White.

We aim to demonstrate the methodology used in the critical analysis of the municipality of Cachoeira do Sul (state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil), which had its Master Plan recently revised and approved, verifying the urban practices implemented until then in the city. For the application of the methodology, data surveys, studies and mappings were carried out with systematization of a geographic database in a GIS environment, as well as on-site technical visits and application of questionnaires to apprehend the opinion of the population on important subjects in the development of the municipality, consolidating the technical and community readings of the territory. From these data, always guided by group discussions, we developed diagnosis, prognosis, scenarios, and guidelines, macrozoning and intervention proposals, filling gaps in the Master Plan in relation to planning with the landscape, the open space system and the development of the city and the region. Among the developed proposals, those related to urban mobility were highlighted in this article - urban and rural cycle lanes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SOLID waste , *REMOTE sensing , *CITIES & towns , *ANIMAL culture , *SANITATION ,ENVIRONMENTAL protection planning - Abstract
Environmental complaints are considered an effective tool for controlling and monitoring the environment, since they come from the community and encourage technical analysis by public agents. Remote sensing, combined with the denouncement tool, can act as a tool to help environmental control bodies, in the assessment of areas impacted by anthropic activities and aid in decision-making. Thus, the objective was to evaluate the municipality of Passo Fundo according to environmental complaints, in different neighborhoods combined with the use of remote sensing. The analysis used data from environmental complaints received in 2019, 2020 and 2021 by the Municipal Environment Secretariat. As a result, it is highlighted that the most recurrent complaints correspond to deficiencies in basic sanitation (sanitary sewage, solid waste, and water) and animal husbandry in urban areas, with 45.62% and 13.17%, respectively. The mapping of the data allowed us to observe that the most affected areas are in the center of the city, even though the periphery region faces the greatest lack of services and necessary infrastructure for the promotion of basic conditions of health and environmental well-being. The geospatialization of environmental complaints, therefore, makes it possible to identify which regions of the municipality have the greatest deficiencies in terms of the environmental issues denounced by the community and thus facilitate the environmental planning of the municipality. Models of environmental fragility analysis help us to spatialize areas with greater and lesser degrees of fragility to erosive processes and the understanding about the relationship among these processes and human activities. This study aimed to evaluate three sub-basins of the Taquari River, in Mato Grosso do Sul State, by integrating of information due to natural erosion ability and erosion processes generate by land using, to support socio-environmental planning actions to an adequate using of natural resources and conservation of its biodiversity in the Alto Taquari basin. The study has been based in cartographic products obtained from satellite Sentinel 2 images, vector soil data, rainfall, priority areas for biodiversity conservation and terrain slope available onto Geographic Information System (GIS). The three sub-basins have presented Pasture as the main form of using and different degrees of anthropism. Only Córrego do Sítio headwaters which are located inside an Environmental Protection Area (APA) have been preserved. In view of the results that were obtained in the present study, it has been considering necessary for recovering areas of permanent preservation and in areas which bordering the stream at the Veado and Criminoso sub-basins, once given the natural fragility to the erosive processes that exist in this region, and also the protection of important remnants of Cerrado vegetation which must have effective conservation measures to maintain the soil, water and ecosystem services qualities arising from local biodiversity. By considering the socio-environmental characteristics from Coxim municipality, a sustainable tourism should be indicated, since it is one of the few remaining areas of Cerrado Biome in this region with its natural characteristics suitable for the development of this economic activity (native vegetation and preserved water resources), which might represent an important increasing to the population's income. NORMALIZED difference vegetation index , *FOREST fires , *ECOLOGICAL integrity , *FOREST reserves , *ECOLOGICAL regions , *LAND cover , *FOREST fire prevention & control , *FIREFIGHTING - Abstract
This study described the spatial and temporal profile of fires in an area proposed for creating a Conservation Unit (UC) in the Microregion of Serra de Carrancas, Minas Gerais. Images from the LandSat 5 and 8 satellites, TM and OLI sensors, were used between the years 2002 and 2015. The Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and the NDVI difference were calculated to detect burned areas. In addition, we used a density point approach to characterize the spatial distribution of the fi res. The land cover classes analyzed were a) agriculture and pasture; b) native forests; c) planted forests; and d) cerrado. To analyze the fire-fighting efficiency, the polygons were grouped into the following size classes: I (<0.1); II (0.1 - 4); III (4.1 - 40); IV (40.1 - 200); V (> 200) hectares. We used the variables accumulated precipitation, the average temperature, and relative humidity to analyze the fire occurrences in the temporal aspect. We detected 2,747 polygons of burned areas, totaling 18,320.14 hectares. From this total, 758 polygons occurred within the UC with an area of 6,696.74 ha. The months with the highest records were August, September, and October. The years 2003, 2009, 2011 and 2014 had the highest occurrences and burned areas in the analyzed period. The grouping in size classes showed a higher frequency of burned areas in classes II and III. Therefore, the implementation of this UC should accompany a policy for preventing and fighting forest fires to preserve the ecological integrity of the region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research aimed to map flood-prone areas in the Quintino Basin, Belém do Pará, which faces adverse events such as floods, putting the population in vulnerable and risky situations. To generate the risk, the threat analysis was cross-referenced with vulnerability. The results revealed that the flood hazard area corresponds to 40.33% of the basin's total area, with 6.4% classified as high flood risk, 15.2% as moderate flood risk, and 18.7% as low flood risk. The neighborhoods of Jurunas (91.8%) and Condor (61.6%) were the most affected ones, with a larger extent of affected areas. Those neighborhoods also showed high socio-economic vulnerability, evidenced by indicators such as child population, illiteracy rate, and income. The risk analysis and mapping indicated that 40.33% of the basin's territory is affected by the risk zone, with Jurunas (91.8%) and Condor (61.6%) neighborhoods presenting the highest percentage of risk due to the previously mentioned high socio-economic vulnerability in those areas. URBAN growth , *CITY dwellers , *NATURAL resources , *LAND use , *ENVIRONMENTAL protection ,ENVIRONMENTAL protection planning - Abstract
The Vargem das Flores basin in the municipality of Contagem/mg is the scene of intense conflicts related to land use and divergent policies on territorial planning and environmental protection, because the area is protected by environmental legislation. Downstream of the basin there is a dam for the formation of the Vargem das Flores reservoir that supplies the urban population of the Belo Horizonte Metropolitan Region. The prevalence of municipal interests over metropolitan interests put the remaining green areas, watercourses, and drainage channels at risk due to the possibility of urban expansion in the area. In this context, this study sought to map the possibility of reconciling urban expansion and environmental conservation in Vargem das Flores and to identify possible conflicts of interest in the basin. The multi-criteria analysis method was used, and it resulted in three syntheses: urban expansion, environmental conservation, and integration synthesis. After building the syntheses, an alternative approach was built to identify land use skills based on the master plan, which resulted in a mapping that sought to meet the needs identified in the territory. The results revealed that the proposed zoning in 2018 puts at risk natural resources fundamental to the existence of the reservoir. The aptitude synthesis adapted to the plan presented an alternative that reconciles the existing conflicting interests. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Palavras-chave: Geovisualização; Geotecnologias; Educação Ambiental Virtual geosightseeing as an immersion alternative at UFRRJ campus and Mário Xavier National Forest during the pandemic Abstract: The Covid-19 pandemic began in 2020 and brought a need to adapt to everyday practices previously done in person. Using geotechnologies linked to digital communication tools was fundamental for continuing and developing academic activities, which were forced to migrate to the digital environment. The objective of this study was to present the strengths and weaknesses of using StoryMaps as an alternative for virtual immersion, based on the development of remote activities (at the Seropédica Campus of the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ) and in the Mário Xavier National Forest (Flona MX)), with the realization of three projects for the community of Seropédica-RJ and surroundings through virtual geowalks. The production of didactic instruments for elaborating virtual workshops made it possible to carry out environmental education classes with spatial immersion through adaptations during the teaching period and remote extension activities. The results achieved by the remote extension activities showed that the methodology applied is an alternative to virtual immersion. The StoryMaps reproduced the territory in an immersive way, especially for recognizing georeferenced thematic trails and points, with interactivity for the participants. The weaknesses observed resulted from the difficulties of specific audiences, such as people with low vision and students excluded both digitally and socially, which do not have electronic devices and access to free internet. Human activities modify the natural characteristics of numerous watersheds worldwide. Google Earth Engine provides tools for the analysis of land use and natural resources. In this work, we classify current land use and cover in the Sucuru watershed, Paraíba, Brazil. We compared the accuracy of five supervised classification algorithms of Google Earth Engine. Classifiers based on Decision Trees, such as the Classification and Regression Trees (CART) and Random Forest (RF), showed the best accuracy and visual inspection values. The Google Earth Engine is a powerful tool for analysis of large-scale environmental data, monitoring land use changes, and providing information for sustainable management. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The horticultural activity has gained in recent years greater visibility through state stimulus programs. Horticulture is an important source of employment and income for the economy of many municipalities since the state of Rio Grande do Sul is the 4th largest national fruit producer. However, the poor conditions of rural roads have been causing losses, affecting the income earned by horticulturalists. The road conditions are usually due to the interactions of man with the geographic space and society because it impacts the environment when pressing the opening of new roads. These roads have some difficulties in terms of mobility. In this sense, this work aims to characterize and evaluate to what proportion that attributes of the terrain impacts road system and the flow of production in the municipalities of Nova Esperança do Sul and Santiago, RS. It was sought through the free software QGIS version 3.4 LTR "Madeira" to apply a series of computational tools for the extraction of variables contained in the MDE to compute the impedances. Initially, an analysis of horticultural production was made, demonstrating the need to transpose and it was observed that in the period of 12 years an increase of 4.76% in horticultural production, thus justifying the need for a modal capable of satisfying such needs. On the other hand, it was observed that 80% of the roads in the respective municipalities are not paved, suffering from holes, erosion, lack of drainage, etc. impacting the trafficability of producers and the community in general. Forest fires generate problems at various scales, and in Conservation Units they promote degradation of vegetation, significant impacts on biodiversity, financial losses and even loss of life. In this context, the aim of this article to analyze and map the outbreaks of fire in the Ilha Grande National Park (PNIG), in August 2019, as well as to identify the evolution of the burned area over the period. For the mapping of the burnt area daily, images from the AQUA M-T satellite were used together with the heat sources acquired from the Burning Database available on the INPE website. And, to show the relationship between the burned area and the meteorological variables, data from the Itaquiraí - MS meteorological station were used. The results show that in the analyzed period 85% of the PNIG were burned, with emphasis on 14/09 with 336.44km² of affected area. It was also possible to verify that the meteorological variables, mainly the wind speed, have a direct relationship with the burned area, that is, the higher the wind speed, the greater the area affected. DIGITAL technology , *DIGITAL communications , *INTERNET access , *COVID-19 pandemic , *ENVIRONMENTAL education , *LOW vision , *VIRTUAL communities - Abstract
The Covid-19 pandemic began in 2020 and brought a need to adapt to everyday practices previously done in person. - Abstract
Context: The global spread of COVID-19 in 2020 led to enormous challenges, highlighting correlations between the pandemic and social issues such as inequality and poor infrastructure. In the municipality of Maricá, Rio de Janeiro, rapid population growth overwhelmed local services, exacerbating the health crisis. Methodology: Using ArcGIS 10.8, mappings and monthly charts in Excel were created for confirmed COVID-19 cases from March 2020 to June 2023. Results: These products revealed areas most exposed to transmission risk, such as the districts of Sede (42%), Itaipuaçu (32%), Inoã (16%), and Ponta Negra (10%). Neighborhoods like Itaipuaçu, São José do Imbassaí, Inoã, and Cordeirinho stood out in case numbers, facing distinct challenges like limited access to water and precarious healthcare services. Considerations: Despite challenges encountered in the research, such as data uniformity issues, geotechnologies proved indispensable not only for the analysis and representation of epidemiological data but also to facilitate quick decision-making and contribute to socio-spatial planning, thus strengthening disease control and prevention., Contexto: La propagación global de la COVID-19 en 2020 ha llevado a enormes desafíos, evidenciando correlaciones entre la pandemia y problemas sociales como la desigualdad y la infraestructura precaria. FOREST regeneration , *MOLECULAR connectivity index , *GRAPH theory , *GENE flow , *FOREST plants , *CITIES & towns - Abstract
The objective of this work was to investigate the degradation of Permanent Preservation Areas to identify forest fragments priority to recomposition in the municipality of Nova Marilândia-Mato Grosso, aiming to contribute, from the data and information generated, in the proposition of actions aimed at maintaining the landscape for the gene flow of the biota. For the definition of the categories of restoration priority, the Integral Connectivity Index was applied in the degraded Permanent Preservation Areas, with its IICflux (measurer of gene/environmental flow possibility) and IICconnector (measurer of node importance as the only connection among other fragments), derived from Graph Theory. In the municipality, the most expressive class is pasture (744.22 km²), surpassing the areas of Forest Natural Vegetation (687.23 km²), Savannah Formation (311.46 km²), Agriculture (157.68 km²) and Anthropic Uses (4.21 km²). Despite this scenario identified in the context of the municipality, the Permanent Preservation Areas are mostly preserved, and 1,706 fragments to be restored are identified; of these, 1,594 with low priority level, 102 with medium and 10 with high. Therefore, simple management measures such as isolation of degraded Permanent Preservation Areas, favoring fragments of high and medium priority of restoration, can provide opportunities for natural forest regeneration, restoring the function of genetic displacement of the local biota in the landscape without the need for high financial investments.
